Abstract: Our goal was to determine physical properties and anatomical features in 33-year-old Hevea brasiliensis clones. We cut wood samples from clones LCB510, RRIM600, IAN873, IAN717 and GT1 planted in Selvíria, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. We used standard techniques in wood studies. We found that clones differ in basic density, volumetric shrinkage and anatomical features, with the exception of ray width. Basic density, volumetric shrinkage, fiber length, fiber wall thickness, vessel element length and vessel diameter tended to increase from pith to bark, while vessel frequency propended to decrease. We conclude that wood of the studied clones has potential for industrial use.

Abstract: The use of wood as a bioenergetic source requires knowledge of its technical properties. The rubber tree Hevea brasiliensis has an economic life cycle of 25 to 30 years in Brazil. It is used for extracting rubber and generating residual wood for fuel. Our goal was to characterize the wood quality of 10 clonal progenies as a source of raw material for bioenergy. Ten clonal progenies of 12-year-old Hevea brasiliensis from an experimental planting in Selvíria municipality were evaluated. Three trees per clone were evaluated for individual properties of Higher Heating Value, immediate chemical analysis, chemical composition, fiber dimensions, thermogravimetric analysis of wood under nitrogen atmosphere and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy analysis. We highlight clone IAC 311 for fuel because it presents elevated Higher Heating Value and fixed carbon and less volatile material. However, the other genetic materials studied also meet the specifications for energy use and can be highly viable given their physical, chemical, energy, and thermal properties.

RESUMO Neste trabalho, foi realizada a previsão da distribuição de M. urundeuva Fr. All., com base na região de ocorrência natural da espécie. Suas coordenadas geográficas foram obtidas nas bases de dados online CRIA e SpecialLinks, a partir de artigos científicos e trabalhos de campo realizados pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) em Ilha Solteira, São Paulo, Brasil. M. urundeuva é uma espécie arbórea nativa com grande potencial para uso comercial no Brasil. Para tanto, foi utilizada a modelagem de nicho ecológico, com camadas atuais de variáveis climáticas e camadas preparadas para cenários climáticos futuros, de acordo com o 4º Relatório do Painel Intergovernamental sobre Mudanças Climáticas (AR4/IPCC), utilizando dados do Worldclim no Brasil. Com os programas Open Modeller e ArcGIS, foram gerados mapas para prever sua ocorrência para o período atual e para cenários climáticos futuros, feitos de acordo com as projeções de mudanças climáticas globais. Com a projeção de aumentos de temperatura e precipitação na região onde ocorre a espécie, ela tende a migrar para áreas do Brasil onde o clima é atualmente mais ameno, nas regiões Sul e Sudeste. Devido às mudanças climáticas, a espécie tende a sofrer mudanças na distribuição e tamanho de área até 2080. Foi projetado para a Caatinga e Pantanal, nos dois períodos, um aumento de área, enquanto para o Cerrado, no primeiro período, a área aumentou e para o segundo, diminuiu. Portanto, de acordo com os resultados dos mapas de projeções futuras para as próximas décadas, conclui-se que haverá mudanças na distribuição de M. urundeuva, com redução significativa da área potencial de ocorrência na região.

ABSTRACT In this work, the prediction of the distribution of M. urundeuva Fr. All. was performed based on the region of natural occurrence of the species. Its geographic coordinates were obtained from online databases CRIA and SpecialLinks, from scientific articles and fieldwork carried out by Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in Ilha Solteira, São Paulo, Brazil. M. urundeuva is a native tree species with great potential for commercial use in Brazil. For this purpose, ecological niche modeling was used, with current layers of climate variables and layers prepared for future climate scenarios, according to the 4th Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (AR4/IPCC), using Worldclim data on Brazil. With the Open Modeller and ArcGIS programs, maps were generated to predict its occurrence for the current period and future climate scenarios, made according to the projections of global climate changes. With the projection of increases in temperature and precipitation in the area where the species occurs, it tends to migrate to areas of Brazil where the climate is currently milder, in the south and southeast regions. Due to climatic changes, the species tends to undergo changes in distribution and area size until 2080. It was projected for Caatinga and Pantanal, in both periods, an increase in area, while for the Cerrado, in the first period, the area increased, and, for the second, it decreased. Therefore, according to the results of the maps of future projections for the next decades, it is concluded that there will be changes in the distribution of M. urundeuva, with a significant reduction of the potential area of occurrence in the region.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a variabilidade genética de Araucaria cunninghamii, em teste de procedência, e estimar ganhos genéticos para a produção de sua madeira, com base em diferentes intensidades de seleção. O experimento foi estabelecido em Luís Antônio, no estado de São Paulo, Brasil, com sementes de polinização aberta coletadas em Queensland, Austrália. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso, com seis repetições e quatro plantas por parcela. O diâmetro à altura do peito (DBH), a forma do fuste e a sobrevivência foram medidos 29 anos após o plantio. Diferenças significativas foram detectadas entre as procedências. O coeficiente de variação genotípica foi alto (60%) para DBH. Os valores médios de DBH e forma do fuste foram de 23,21 cm e 4,50, respectivamente. As procedências Langkelly Creek, Brooweena L.A., Yarraman e St. Agnes apresentaram melhor desempenho em DBH, e Imbil Seed Orchard, Brooweena L.A., St. Agnes, St. John e Yarraman, em forma do fuste. Os ganhos estimados com a seleção variaram de 0,5 a 24,8%, para DBH, e de 0,9 a 3,5%, para forma do fuste.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to assess the genetic variability of Araucaria cunninghamii in a provenance test and to estimate the genetic gains in its wood production, based on different selection intensities. The trial was established in Luís Antônio, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, using open-pollinated seed from Queensland, Australia. The experimental design used was a randomized complete block with six replicates, and four plants per plot. Diameter at breast height (DBH), stem form, and survival were measured at 29 years after planting. Significant differences were detected among provenances. The coefficient of genotypic variation between provenances was high (60%) for DBH and stem form. The mean values for DBH and stem form were 23.21 cm and 4.50, respectively. The provenances Langkelly Creek, Brooweena L.A., Yarraman, and St. Agnes showed the best performance for DBH, and Imbil Seed Orchard, Brooweena L.A, St. Agnes, St. John, and Yarraman, for stem form. Genetic gains ranged from 0.5 to 24.8% for DBH, and from 0.9 to 3.5% for stem form.

Abstract Cordia trichotoma is a Brazilian species that has been studied for different forest systems. However, genetic breeding programs could highly improve species use. To obtain a better yield, it is essential to identify the species genotypes with superior performance. Thus, the work objective of this work was to estimate genetic divergence in two C. trichotoma progenies tests based on phenotypic traits. The experimental design adopted was the randomized blocks, one plant per plot, using 40 (area one) and 34 (area two) repetitions, using 3.0 m × 3.0 m spacing. The evaluated traits were diameter at 1.30 m above the soil (DBH-cm), total height (HT-m), collar diameter at 30 cm above the ground (DC-cm), and height of the first whorl (HFW-cm). The estimate of genetic divergence and the Tocher clustering method was performed using the REML / BLUP method. The genetic distances between the progenies in area 1 were 2.13 and 47.74 (17 and 15). In area two the genetic distances between the progenies were 3.64 (9 and 15) and 48.28 (12 and 7). The progenies formed 10 and 4 distinct groups, respectively, in area 1 and area 2). The traits that most contributed to genetic divergence were DBH-2016 (14.65%) in area one, and HT-2014 (14.32%) in area two. In sumary, the C. trichotoma progenies show high genetic divergence. Regarding breeding programs, it is recommended to cross progenies from the most divergent groups to heighten the genetic gain through the selection of more productive genotypes.

Resumen Cordia trichotoma es una especie nativa que está siendo evaluada para diferentes sistemas forestales. El hecho de que los individuos empleados en las plantaciones posean algún grado de mejoramiento genético tiene muchas ventajas; para lograr este mejoramiento es fundamental la obtención de genotipos superiores, a fin de obtener un mejor rendimiento del producto final. El objetivo del presente estudio fue estimar la divergencia genética de progenies de C. trichotoma en dos diferentes condiciones de textura de suelo, por medio de caracteres fenotípicos. El diseño experimental fue bloques completos al azar, un árbol por parcela con 40 (área 1) y 34 (área 2) repeticiones, con espaciamiento de 3,0 m × 3,0 m. Los caracteres evaluados fueron: diámetro a altura del pecho, altura total de plantas, diámetro de cuello y altura del primer verticilo. Para estimar la divergencia genética y el agrupamiento de Tocher fue utilizado el método REML/BLUP. Las distancias entre las progenies en el área 1 fueron de 2,13 y 47,74 (17 y 15), en el área 2 las distancias entre las progenies fueron de 3,64 (9 y 15) y 48,28 (12 y 7). Las progenies formaron diez y cuatro grupos distintos (área 1 y área 2). Los caracteres que más contribuyeron para divergencia genética fueron diámetro a la altura del pecho-2016 (14,65%) área 1, y altura total de plantas-2014 (14,32%) área 2. Las progenies de C. trichotoma presentaron alta divergencia genética. En programas de mejoramiento, se recomienda el cruzamiento entre progenies de los grupos más divergentes para priorizar la ganancia con selección de los genotipos más productivos.

Abstract Forest fragmentation in the Cerrado biome exposes the tree species Myracrodruon urundeuva to the risk of extinction. Thus, the objective of the study was to evaluate silvicultural characteristics related to wood quality, based on genetic parameters estimated in two M. urundeuva progenies from natural populations, assessed in Bauru-SP (PBAU) and Selvíria-MS (PSEL), 31 years after planting. The genetic parameters were estimated according to the REML/BLUP (Restricted maximum likelihood/Best Linear Unbiased Prediction) method using a mixed linear model. The progeny tests detected genetic variation. In PSEL, more positive genetic correlations and a greater number of clusters were observed. Based on the heartwood/sapwood ratio, a higher genetic gain was predicted for PBAU, and for the basic wood density, the genetic gain of the populations was approximately the same. Consequently, the areas of the two progeny tests may be used as future seed orchards to ensure wood quality and long-term ex situ conservation.

Resumo Com a produção de papel e celulose, as indústrias deste setor têm gerado diariamente grandes quantidades de resíduos sólidos e efluentes, constituindo-se em grande preocupação ambiental e econômica. Tendo como objetivo pesquisar possibilidades do uso destes subprodutos de forma sustentável, neste estudo foi testada a eficácia de um composto orgânico advindo de resíduos da extração da celulose, na recuperação de atributos químicos de um solo degradado e avaliar o desenvolvimento de Mabea fistulifera Mart. O experimento foi instalado em uma área remanescente da construção da Usina Hidrelétrica de Ilha Solteira, localizada no município de Selvíria - MS, em 2010, seguindo um delineamento experimental em blocos ao acaso em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com 6 tratamentos: SI - área sem intervenção; D0 - sem adubação; DAM - adubação mineral de acordo com a necessidade da cultura; D10 - adubação com composto de acordo com a necessidade da cultura; D15 e D20 - 15 Mg ha-1 e 20 Mg ha-1 do composto, respectivamente. Os atributos químicos do solo foram avaliados 12 meses após o plantio, em quatro camadas (0,00-0,05; 0,05-0,10; 0,10-0,20 e 0,20-0,40 m) e o crescimento inicial das espécies, trimestralmente até o período de 15 meses. Os resultados foram analisados efetuando-se a análise de variância dos dados e o teste de Scott-Knott, para comparação de médias e regressão entre as diferentes doses de composto a 5% de significância. Conclui-se que a dose de 20 Mg ha-1 foi a mais eficaz para melhorar a qualidade química do solo, até a camada de 0,20 m. Porém, foi observada uma elevação acentuada nos valores de pH no tratamento D20 nas camadas 0,0-0,05, 0,05-0,10 m, o que pode ter influenciando negativamente no desenvolvimento da espécie arbórea.

Abstract With the production of pulp and paper, industries have daily generated large quantities of solid waste and effluent, constituting a major environmental and economic concern. With the objective of addressing the possibility of using these products in a sustainable way, the aims of this work were to test the effectiveness of an organic compound waste arising from the extraction of cellulose, to consider the recovery of chemical attributes of degraded soil, and to assess the development of Mabea fistulifera Mart. The experiment was installed in an area of the Single Island Power Plant construction located in Selvíria-MS in 2010, following randomized complete blocks with split plots, using six treatments: SI-without intervention; D0-without fertilization; DAM-mineral fertilizer according to crop need; D10-composted manure according to crop need; and D15 and D20-15 Mg ha-1 and 20 Mg ha-1 of the compound, respectively. The soil’s chemical properties were studied 12 months after planting in four layers (at 0.00-0.05, 0.05-0.10, 0.10-0.20, and 0.20-0.40 m), along with the development of species, and at three-monthly intervals for a period of 15 months. The results were analyzed by performing analysis of variance, Scott-Knott test for comparison of means, and regression between the different doses of compound at five percent significance level. We conclude that a dose of 20 Mg ha-1 was more effective in improving the chemical quality of the soil in the 0.20 m layer. However, we observed a sharp increase in pH in the D20 treatment in the 0.0-0.05 and 0.05-0.10 m layers, which can have negative influence on the development of tree species.

Abstract The objective was to select productive and stable E. grandis families across contrasting sites in Brazil and Uruguay. Survival and growth of 130 open pollinated families were evaluated three years after planting. Survival ranged from 28 to 89% and mean annual increment from 20.5 to 48.4 m3ha- y-1. Low productivity in one site was attributed to unusually low rainfall and in the other, because of Cylindrocladium leaf disease. Heritability among families and the correlation family by environment were intermediate. Genetic pairwise correlations ranged from 0.03 to 0.81 across sites. The lowest genetic correlation between sites was observed where Cylindrocladium leaf disease occurs. Selection of top families across sites allowed selecting the best ones in each site. However, the effect of genotype-environment interactions was observed where climatic conditions are not adequate to the E. grandis, favoring the occurrence of Cylindrocladium disease.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a interação genótipo x ambiente (GxA) em progênies de polinização aberta de Eucalyptus saligna, para seleção simultânea para maior estabilidade e adaptabilidade para volume de madeira, bem como comparar as estratégias de seleção por análises conjunta e individuais em três ambientes. Foram instalados três experimentos, em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições e parcelas de seis plantas, com 102 a 122 progênies. Três anos após o plantio, foram avaliados a taxa de sobrevivência e o volume de madeira. Os parâmetros genéticos foram estimados pelos métodos da máxima verossimilhança restrita e melhor predição linear não viciada (REML/Blup), e a análise de estabilidade e adaptabilidade foi realizada pela média harmônica do desempenho relativo dos valores genéticos (MHPRVG). A maior taxa de sobrevivência (82%) foi observada em Sabinópolis e o maior volume (120 m³ ha-1) em Lençóis Paulista. As herdabilidades médias das progênies para as duas variáveis avaliadas foram consideradas altas, e as correlações genéticas entre taxa de sobrevivência e volume foram baixas para todos os locais. A interação GxA foi significativa e do tipo complexa, com correlação genotípica entre ambientes de 47%, o que indica que o ordenamento das melhores progênies foi diferente para cada local estudado. A análise de estabilidade e adaptabilidade indicou a possibilidade de selecionar progênies com comportamento plástico nos três ambientes; contudo, para melhoria da qualidade das características avaliadas, é necessária a seleção de progênies específicas para cada ambiente.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the genotype x environment (GxE) interaction in open-pollinated Eucalyptus saligna progenies for simultaneous selection for greater stability and adaptability for wood volume, as well as to compare the selection strategies through combined and individual analyses in three environments. Three experiments were conducted in a randomized complete block design, with four replicates and six plants per plot, with 102 to 122 progenies. Three years after planting, survival rate and wood volume were evaluated. The genetic parameters were estimated by the maximum restricted likelihood and best linear unbiased prediction (REML/Blup) methods, and the stability and adaptability analysis was conducted using the harmonic mean of the relative performance of genetic values (HMRPGV). The highest survival rate (82%) was observed in Sabinópolis and the highest volume (120 m³ ha-1) in Lençóis Paulista. The mean heritability of progenies for the two analyzed variables was considered high, and the genetic correlations between survival rate and volume were weak for all sites. The G×E interaction was significant and of the complex type, with genotype correlation between sites of 47%, indicating that the ranking of the best progenies differed in each studied environment. The analysis of stability and adaptability indicated the possibility of selecting progenies with good performance in the three environments; however, to improve the quality of the evaluated characteristics, it is necessary to select specific progenies for each environment.

RESUMO Foram avaliados os parâmetros genéticos e fenotípicos da bifurcação (BIF), forma do fuste (RET) e diâmetro à altura do peito (DAP) para as procedências e progênies de Dipteryx alata. O experimento foi instalado em delineamento em blocos ao acaso, com 43 tratamentos (26 e 17 progênies dos municípios de Três Lagoas e Brasília no Estado de Mato Grosso do Sul e Distrito Federal, respectivamente) e cinco plantas por parcela. O espaçamento entre plantas foi de 3 x 3 metros. A análise dos dados foi realizada pelo método REML / BLUP (máxima verossimilhança restrita melhor predição linear não viesada). Foram detectadas diferenças significativas entre progênies apenas para DAP. Os valores genéticos individuais variaram de 3,7 a 21,7% para BIF e DAP; A variação genética entre as progênies variou de 9 a 10,5% para BIF e DAP entre as procedências. A herdabilidade individual no sentido restrito foi alta para o DAP (mínimo de 0,31), revelando o potencial de melhoramento genético. As procedências e progênies demonstraram ter variabilidade genética, que pode ser explorada em programas de melhoramento florestal, com ampla base genética.

ABSTRACT Genetic and phenotypic parameters of fork (BIF), stem form (RET) and diameter at breast height (DBH) for Dipteryx alata provenances and progenies were assessed. The trial was lead in a randomized block design, with 43 treatments (26 and 17 progenies from the municipalities of Três Lagoas and Brasília in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul and Distrito Federal, Brazil, respectively) and five plants per plot. The spacing between plants was 3 x 3 meters. The data analysis was performed using the REML/BLUP method (restricted maximum likelihood best linear unbiased prediction). Significant differences were detected between progenies only for DBH. The individual genetic values ranged from 3.7 to 21.7 % for BIF and DBH; genetic variation among progenies ranged from 9 to 10.5 % for BIF and DBH among provenances. Individual heritability in the strict sense was high for DBH (minimum from 0.31), revealing the potential for genetic improvement. Provenance and progenies trial showed genetic variability which can be exploited in forest improvement programs with a broad genetic base.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho é estimar parâmetros genéticos para caracteres silviculturais em reflorestamento ciliar aos 20 anos de idade, sem estrutura de progênies por modelos mistos (REML/BLUP). O presente trabalho foi realizado na Fazenda de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão (FEPE) da Faculdade de Engenharia da Ilha Solteira, Universidade Estadual “Julio de Mesquita Filho” (FEIS/UNESP), localizada no município de Selvíria (MS). Em fevereiro e março de 1986 iniciou o plantio do reflorestamento ciliar em módulos, existindo dois modelos com diferentes números de espécies. O espaçamento utilizado no plantio das espécies foi de 2 x 3 m. O reflorestamento ciliar tem uma área de 9,5 ha na soma total dos dois modelos de plantio. As características silviculturais avaliadas aos 20 anos foram a altura total de planta (ALT, m), o diâmetro na altura do peito (DAP, cm) e a sobrevivência dos indivíduos plantados, as quais foram utilizadas para calcular as estimativas dos componentes de variância dos parâmetros genéticos, utilizando o programa genético-estatístico SELEGEN-REML/BLUP. Observou-se alta variabilidade genética entre os genótipos para os caracteres silviculturais estudados no reflorestamento ciliar. A acurácia foi de alta magnitude, mostrando boa confiabilidade dos resultados. O método do modelo misto (REML/BLUP) mostrou-se adequado à estimação de parâmetros genéticos e predição de valores genotípicos no reflorestamento ciliar, podendo ser empregado rotineiramente.

ABSTRACT The objective of this work is to estimate genetic parameters for silvicultural traits in riparian reforestation at 20 years of age, without progeny structure by mixed models (REML / BLUP). The present work was carried out at the Fazenda de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão (FEPE) of the Faculdade de Engenharia de Ilha Solteira, Universidade Estadual “Julio de Mesquita Filho” (FEIS/UNESP), located in the municipality of Selvíria (MS). In February and March of 1986 began the planting of the riparian reforestation in modules, existing two Modules with different numbers of species. The spacing used in the planting of the species was 2 x 3 m. The riparian reforestation has an area of 9.5 ha in the total sum of the two Modules of planting. The silvicultural traita evaluated at 20 years were total plant height (ALT, m), diameter at breast height (DBH, cm) and survival of planted individuals, which were used to calculate the variance component components of genetic parameters, using the genetic-statistical program SELEGEN-REML/BLUP. High genetic variability was observed among the genotypes for the silvicultural traits studied in the riparian reforestation. The accuracy was of high magnitude, showing good reliability of the results. The mixed model method (REML/BLUP) was adequate for the estimation of genetic parameters and prediction of genotypic values in riparian reforestation, and it could be used routinely.

RESUMO Para a recuperação de um solo é preciso selecionar e identificar espécies aptas às novas condições edáficas e que, de forma rápida, acelerem a estruturação e formação dos horizontes mais superficiais do solo. O experimento teve como objetivos avaliar o desenvolvimento de algumas espécies e variedades de Pinus, visando à detecção daquelas que apresentam maior potencialidade de adaptação e recuperação do solo degradado na região de cerrado e, para isto, foram avaliadas as condições químicas do solo em que se encontram as mesmas. Aos 20 anos, após o plantio, analisaram-se as características silviculturais e as propriedades químicas do solo. Foram coletadas em cada parcela amostras deformadas nas camadas de 0,0-0,10; 0,10-0,20; 0,20-0,40 e 0,40-0,60 m. A utilização de espécies de Pinus na recuperação de áreas degradadas mostrou-se promissora melhorando as condições químicas do solo na camada de 0,00 - 0,10 m, destacando-se o Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis por apresentar bom crescimento aliado a sua sobrevivência, o que garante a cobertura do solo devido à deposição de matéria orgânica aumentando a soma de bases e a capacidade de troca catiônica. As espécies de Pinus estão proporcionando condições para o aumento da diversidade de espécies espontâneas.

ABSTRACT For the recovery of a soil, it is necessary to select and to identify suitable species to new soil conditions and, quickly, accelerate the structuring and formation of more superficial horizons of the soil. The experiment aimed to evaluate the development of some species and varieties of Pinus, aiming at detecting those that present the greatest potential for adaptation and recovery of degraded land in the savannah region, and for this, we evaluated the chemical conditions of the soil where they are present. At 20 years after planting, we analyzed the silvicultural characteritics and the chemical properties of the soil. In each plot, deformed samples were collected in the layers of 0.0-0.10, 0.10-0.20, 0.20-0.40 and 0.40-0.60 m. The use of Pinus species in reclamation showed promising improving the chemical conditions of the soil layer from 0.00 to 0.10 m, highlighting the Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis to present a good growth combined their survival, which guarantees the coverage of the soil due to deposition of organic matter by increasing the sum of bases and cation exchange capacity. The species of Pinus are providing conditions for the increasing of the diversity of spontaneous species.

RESUMO A espécie Myracrodruon urundeuva, ou aroeira, possui madeira resistente, porém de crescimento lento, sendo recomendável o seu plantio consorciado com outras espécies como uma alternativa de renda até seu completo crescimento e desenvolvimento. Assim este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a estabilidade e adaptabilidade em quatro testes de progênies de Myracrodruon urundeuva sob diferentes formas de plantio: consórcio com essências arbóreas (TP-1), homogêneo (TP-2), SAF com culturas anuais (TP-3) e SAF com eucalipto (TP-4), instalados em 1997 na Fazenda de Pesquisa, Extensão e Ensino da UNESP, campus Ilha Solteira - SP no município de Selvíria - MT, cujas sementes foram coletadas de 30 árvores matrizes localizada na Estação Ecológica de Paulo de Faria - SP. Foram avaliados a altura total (m), o diâmetro à altura do peito - DAP (cm) e a forma do fuste, aos dez anos idade. Foi utilizado o delineamento experimental de blocos casualizados. Para as estimativas de componentes de variância, parâmetros genéticos e estabilidade e adaptabilidade (MHPRVG) foi utilizado o software SELEGEN. A aroeira teve melhor desempenho quanto a altura no TP-3, DAP no TP-2 e a forma do fuste foi semelhante nos quatro TP. Os parâmetros genéticos indicaram que o DAP apresentou o maior controle e variação genética e correlação genótipos e ambientes. A seleção simultânea apresentou as melhores progênies idênticas a seleção do MHPRVG, o que indica ser este, um método mais refinado de seleção.

ABSTRACT The species Myracrodruon urundeuva, or aroeira, possesses resistant wood, but of slow growth, so it is advisable its plantation with other species as an alternative of income until its complete development. This work had the objective to evaluate the stability and adaptability in four progeny tests of Myracrodruon urundeuva under different plantation forms: associated with arboreal essences (TP-1), homogeneous (TP-2), agroforestry systems (AFS) with annual cultures (TP-3) and AFS with eucalyptus (TP-4), installed in 1997 at Fazenda de Pesquisa, Extensão e Ensino of UNESP campus Ilha Solteira - SP, in Selvíria - MS. Seeds were collected from 30 main trees located in the Estação Ecológica de Paulo de Faria - SP. Total height (m), diameter at breast height - DBH (cm), and stem form were evaluated up to ten years of age. Randomized complete blocks design was used. The software SELEGEN was used for the estimates of variance components, genetic parameters and stability and adaptability (MHPRVG). Aroeira had better height in the TP-3, DBH in the TP-2 and similar stem form in all four TP. The genetic parameters indicated that DBH possesses the largest control and genetic variation and correlation genotype and environment. The simultaneous selection presented the best progenies, identical to the progenies from the selection of MHPRVG, which indicates this is a refined method of selection.

RESUMO O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a variação genética e a seleção das melhores progênies de Myracrodruon urundeuva, Astronium fraxinifolium e Terminalia argentea, quanto aos caracteres de crescimento, em Selvíria, Mato Grosso do Sul. O teste de progênie foi instalado utilizando o delineamento de blocos ao acaso com 28 tratamentos, quatro repetições e dez plantas por parcela em linhas simples, no espaçamento 1,5 x 3,0 m. Aos 14 anos de idade, as progênies foram avaliadas quantos aos caracteres: altura (ALT); diâmetro a altura do peito (DAP); diâmetro médio da copa (DMC); forma do tronco (FT, escala de notas, variando de 1 a 5) e sobrevivência (SOB). Foram encontradas altas herdabilidades entre médias de progênies para os caracteres DAP (0,67), DMC (0,57) e forma do tronco (0,83), respectivamente. O ganho predito para DAP indica que a seleção baseada em informações, tanto de progênies, quanto de indivíduos dentro de progênies foram substanciais, o que denota uma boa perspectiva de exploração da variabilidade genética ao longo de um programa de melhoramento genético para as espécies estudadas, assim como o estabelecimento de estratégias para futura formação de um pomar de sementes.

ABSTRACT The present study aimed at evaluating genetically the best progenies ofMyracrodruon urundeuva, Astronium fraxinifolium e Terminalia argentea from Selvíria, MS, concerning their growing traits. The progeny test was performed by outlining randomized blocks with 28 treatments, 4 repetitions and 10 plants per plot in single rows at 1.5 x 3.0 spacing. At 14 years of age, the progenies were evaluated concerning the traits: height (ALT, m); diameter of the height (DAP, cm); average diameter of the top (DMC, cm); trunk shape (FT), grade scale, ranging from 1 to 5, and survival (SOB, %). The average herdability for the traits studied is considered from medium to highs magnitudes (0.67; 0.57 e 0.83) for DAP, DMC e trunk shape, respectively. More expressive outcomes were obtained from the average of progenies (9.42; 9.40 e 12.83) for DAP, respectively, which indicates that the selection can be effective using such information, not only from the families but also from the individuals for native progenies from the region which indicates a good perspective of genetic variability to be exploited along a genetic breeding program for the studied species and the establishment of strategies for future formation of a seed orchard.

Atualmente a vegetação natural do Cerrado encontra-se altamente fragmentada, causando a perda da variabilidade genética e, concomitantemente, risco de extinção das populações remanescentes nestes fragmentos. Não indiferente a isto, o objetivo desse trabalho foi estimar a variabilidade genética de um teste de progênies de Dipteryx alata, formado a partir do material da Estação Ecológica de Paulo de Faria, para efetivar a conservação genética do que ainda resta da espécie no Estado de São Paulo e subsidiar um método de seleção visando a formação de pomar de sementes com qualidade genética para serem empregadas na restauração do Cerrado. O teste de progênies, composto por 59 progênies, 17 repetições e uma planta por parcela, foi instalado no dia 10 de julho de 2013, na Fazenda de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão (FEPE) da Universidade Estadual Paulista, Ilha Solteira, SP, Brasil. As estimativas dos parâmetros genéticos foram baseadas na altura total de plantas com 3, 7 e 21 meses de idade. As estimativas de herdabilidade média, coeficiente de variação genética individual, acurácia (0,81, 39,88 e 0,90, respectivamente, aos três meses) e correlações genéticas entre ALT e DMC (0,74) indicaram que a formação do teste de progênies permitiu resgatar o material genético com variabilidade genética suficiente para garantir a formação de novas populações e as estimativas dos parâmetros genéticos apresentaram base genética promissora, o que permite ganhos na seleção em programas de melhoramento e a formação de pomar de sementes para utilização em programas de restauração.

ABSTRACT Currently, the natural vegetation of the Cerrado is highly fragmented, causing the loss of genetic variability and concomitant risk of extinction of the remaining populations in these fragments. Not indifferent to this, the aim of this study was to estimate the genetic variability of a progeny test of Dipteryx alata, formed from the material of Estação Ecológica Paulo de Faria, to effect the genetic conservation of what remains of the species in the State of São Paulo and subsidize a selection method aimed the formation of a seed orchard with genetic quality to be used in the Cerrado restoration. The progeny test, with 59 progenies, 17 replications and a plant per plot, was installed on July 10, 2013, in the Fazenda de Pesquisa, Ensino e Extensão (FEPE) of Universidade Estadual Paulista, Ilha Solteira, SP, Brazil. The genetic parameter estimates were based on total plant height of 3, 7, and 21 months of age. Estimates of average heritability, individual genetic variation coefficient, accuracy (0.81, 39.88, and 0.90, respectively, at three months), and genetic correlations between ALT and DMC (0.74) indicated that the formation of the test progenies allowed to rescue the genetic material with enough genetic variability to ensure the formation of new populations and estimates of genetic parameters showed promising genetic basis, which allows gains in selection in breeding programs and seed orchard formation for use in restoration programs.
