Abstract Objective: Enuresis is associated with attentional and emotional comorbidities in 20 to 30 % of cases. The Short Screening Instrument for Psychological Problems in Enuresis (SSIPPE) is a questionnaire that allows the initial screening of these comorbidities. This study aimed to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the SSIPPE for Brazilian children and adolescents (SSIPPE-Br). Methods: Six steps were performed for translation and cross-cultural adaptation: translation, synthesis of translations, back-translation, preparation of the pre-final version of the translated instrument, test of comprehensibility of the pre-final version of the tool, and elaboration of the instrument cross-culturally adapted for Brazil, named 13-itens version SSIPPE-Br. To validate the SSIPPE-Br, a cross-sectional study was carried out, in which the validated Brazilian version of the Child and Adolescent Behavior Inventory (CABI) was used. Results: Validation was performed on 127 children and adolescents with a mean age of 9.7 ± 2.8 years, 48 % male. The reliability was estimated using Cronbach’s alpha, ranging from 0.86 to 0.89, indicating good internal consistency. The factorial analysis had a good agreement adjustment (KMO 0.755, Bartlett’s test < 0.001) and explained 70.5 % of the data variability. In the reproducibility analysis, the Kappa coefficient ranged from 0.94 to 1, which can be considered almost perfect. A highly significant (p-value < 0.001) and direct correlation existed between the three SSIPPE-Br domains and all evaluated CABI domains. Conclusion: The SSIPPE-Br is a valid and reliable tool for emotional problems screening and ADHD symptoms in children and adolescents with enuresis whose first language is Brazilian Portuguese. Abstract To date, hydroxyurea is the only effective and safe drug that significantly reduces morbidity and mortality of individuals with Sickle cell disease. Twenty years of real-life experience has demonstrated that hydroxyurea reduces pain attacks, vaso-occlusive events, including acute chest syndrome, the number and duration of hospitalizations and the need for transfusion. The therapeutic success of hydroxyurea is directly linked to access to the drug, the dose used and adherence to treatment which, in part, is correlated to the availability of hydroxyurea. Abstract Quilombolas are ethnic-racial groups, of black ancestry, and had their territories consolidated in Brazil in regions with difficult access and far from large centers. The objective of this study is to know the therapeutic itinerary (IT) adopted by quilombola women in traditional communities located in the North of the state of Minas Gerais. This is a qualitative study with the theoretical model using the Arthur Kleinman health care system. The study scenario was 23 quilombola communities in northern Minas Gerais. Forty quilombola women aged between 25 and 89 years were interviewed. Data analysis was performed following the IT. Units of analysis emerged that were grouped into three categories: quilombola women and the meaning of health and care; the professional care system in quilombola communities; and route of care in situations experienced by women. The therapeutic itinerary of the communities is mainly related to the actions of popular medicine. It was also possible to observe that there are weaknesses in relation to health care due to factors such as difficulty of access to institutionalized services.

Resumo Os quilombolas são grupos étnico-raciais de ancestralidade negra e tiveram seus territórios consolidados no Brasil em regiões com acesso difícil e distante dos grandes centros. O objetivo desse estudo é conhecer o itinerário terapêutico (IT) adotado por mulheres quilombolas em comunidades tradicionais localizadas no norte do estado de Minas Gerais. Trata-se de um estudo com abordagem qualitativa com o modelo teórico utilizando o sistema de cuidados à saúde de Arthur Kleinman. O estudo se deu em 23 comunidades quilombolas do norte de Minas Gerais. Foram entrevistadas 40 mulheres quilombolas, com idades entre 25 e 89 anos. A análise dos dados foi realizada seguindo os IT. Emergiram unidades de análise que foram agrupadas em três categorias: as mulheres quilombolas e o significado da saúde e do cuidado; o sistema de cuidado profissional nas comunidades quilombolas; e itinerário de cuidados nas situações vivenciadas pelas mulheres. O itinerário terapêutico das comunidades se mostra relacionado principalmente às ações de medicina popular. Foi possível observar ainda que existem fragilidades em relação à atenção à saúde devido a fatores como dificuldade de acesso aos serviços institucionalizados.

Abstract This article aimed to map therapeutic itineraries in health care within rural Quilombola communities in the north of Minas Gerais, Brazil. This is a section of a qualitative research conducted in six visited communities. The data was collected through 18 individual interviews, analyzed using the theoretical-methodological framework of Therapeutic Itineraries, and organized into three empirical themes. The narratives allowed for understanding the paths taken in health care by the Quilombola population, identifying the components of the popular subsystem (natural resources, the use of teas and home remedies), the family subsystem (transmission of knowledge and cultural heritage of care), and the professional subsystem (hospital level, medical care, primary and specialized attention). The difficulties of access are not only due to geographical distances, but also broader aspects of social determination, such as institutional racism, low availability of services, the need for payment for transportation and medical procedures. In this sense, it is necessary to have an approach and interventions from public policies to address ethnic-racial, economic, and access inequalities in health care services.

Resumo Este artigo teve como objetivo mapear os itinerários terapêuticos no cuidado em saúde em comunidades quilombolas rurais no norte de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Trata-se de um recorte de uma pesquisa qualitativa realizada em seis comunidades visitadas. Os dados foram produzidos por meio de 18 entrevistas individuais, analisados pelo referencial teórico-metodológico dos itinerários terapêuticos e organizados em três temas empíricos. As narrativas permitiram a compreensão dos percursos trilhados no cuidado em saúde pela população quilombola, a identificação dos componentes do subsistema popular (recursos naturais, o uso de chás e remédios caseiros), do subsistema familiar (transmissão de conhecimentos e herança cultural de cuidados), e do subsistema profissional (nível hospitalar, cuidados médicos, atenção primária e especializada). As dificuldades de acesso não decorrem apenas das distâncias geográficas, envolvem aspectos mais amplos da determinação social, como o racismo institucional, a baixa oferta de serviços, a necessidade de pagamento para deslocamentos e procedimentos médicos. Nesse sentido, fazem-se necessárias uma abordagem e intervenções das políticas públicas frente às desigualdades étnico-raciais, econômicas e de acesso aos serviços de cuidado em saúde.

ABSTRACT Introduction Instruments to manage adverse effects of endocrine therapy with Aromatase inhibitors (AI) may improve adherence and persistence to treatment and Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQL). The 31-item Cervantes Scale (CS-31) is an HRQL questionnaire with particularities of the perimenopausal and postmenopausal period that could be an appropriate instrument to assess HRQL in Breast Cancer (BC) survivors. Objective This study aimed to perform additional validation of the CS-31 for BC survivors undergoing adjuvant endocrine therapy. Methods This prospective study was performed at three time points named T0, T1, and T2: initial, intermediate, and final follow-up period, respectively, totaling 24 months of follow-up. At each time point, the participants completed the CS-31, Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy - Fatigue (FACIT-F), and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). The internal consistency, construct validity, responsiveness analyses, and known-group validity of CS-31 were evaluated. Results This study included 89 postmenopausal women diagnosed with hormone receptor-positive early BC in adjuvant endocrine therapy with AI. The internal consistency was good (Cronbach's alpha = 0.89). Construct validity received a positive rating, with 100% of results consistent with prior hypotheses. A prospective improvement in HRQL was identified for the CS-31 Global Score and FACIT-F Total Score and for most of their domains. Furthermore, women with anxiety and depression by HADS presented worse HRQL by CS-31. Conclusion The authors identified that the CS-31 seems to be appropriate for use in oncology medical routine and may help to monitor adverse effects and HRQL of BC survivors during adjuvant endocrine therapy. ABSTRACT The search for bioherbicides has been encouraged, and plants used in food or with bioactivity have been studied. Therefore, this article aimed to investigate the bioherbicidal potential of essential oils from Psidium cauliflorum and P. acidum through a plant toxicity bioassay using Lactuca sativa and Sorghum bicolor. The seeds were treated with essential oils of both species, along with control groups treated with distilled water, dichloromethane, and glyphosate. Germination percentage (GP), germination speed index (GSI), root growth (RG), shoot length (SL), mitotic index (MI), chromosomal alterations (CA), and nuclear alterations (NA) were evaluated. The major compound of the essential oil of P. cauliflorum was Î±-pinene, and of P. acidum were trans-caryophyllene, Î²-elemene, germacrene A, and Î±-copaene. The essential oils from both species exhibited phytotoxic effects. P. acidum oil inhibited sorghum RG and lettuce SL, while P. cauliflorum oil reduced GP, GSI, RG, and SL in both plants, indicating higher phytotoxicity than P. acidum and non-selective behavior. Cytotoxic investigations showed that both oils inhibited the MI. CA analysis revealed that P. cauliflorum oil exhibited aneugenic and clastogenic action mechanisms. Abstract Evaluating the effects of nanomaterials in cementitious systems is paramount to projecting high-performance construction materials. However, the synthesis of some nanomaterials on a large scale and their toxicity may limit their application. In this context, nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC), a biodegradable and natural material stand out. Thus, this paper aims to study the influence of NFC on the fresh, hardened properties (compressive and flexural strengths) and mineralogy of cementitious systems. The results indicated that incorporating up 0.075 wt.% to CNF reduced the spread of cement pastes by up to 14.0%. A CNF content of 0.025 wt.% increased the 28-d compressive and flexural strengths by 22.0% and 25.0%, respectively, compared to the control sample. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) results indicate that higher NFC contents (>0.025 wt.%) resulted in lower intensity portlandite peaks after 7 days, which may show a lower hydration degree, especially concerning the plain cement paste. Resumo Avaliar os efeitos dos nanomateriais em sistemas cimentícios é fundamental para projetar materiais de construção de alto desempenho. No entanto, alguns nanomateriais tem a sua aplicação limitada à toxicidade e síntese em larga escala. Nesse contexto, destaca-se a celulose nanofibrilada (NFC), um material biodegradável e natural. Assim, este trabalho tem como objetivo estudar a influência do NFC nas propriedades no estado fresco, endurecido (resistências à compressão e à flexão) e mineralogia de sistemas cimentícios. Os resultados indicaram que a incorporação de até 0,075% em massa da CNF reduziu o espalhamento das pastas de cimento em até 14,0%. Um teor de CNF de 0,025% em massa aumentou as resistências à compressão e a flexão de 28 dias em 22,0% e 25,0%, respectivamente, em comparação com as amostras de controle. Abstract Occlusal stabilization splints are the most common treatment for controlling the deleterious effects of sleep bruxism. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a low-cost, mixed occlusal splint (MOS) compared to that of a rigid splint. A randomized clinical trial was performed on 43 adults of both sexes with possible sleep bruxism and satisfactory dental conditions. They were divided into rigid occlusal splint (ROS) (n = 23) and MOS (n = 20) groups. Masticatory muscle and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain intensity (visual analog scale), quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF), indentations in the oral mucosa, anxiety, and depression (HADS), number of days of splint use, and splint wear were evaluated. All variables were evaluated at baseline (T0), 6 months (T6), and 12 months (T12) after splint installation (T0), and splint wear was evaluated at T6 and T12. Student’s t-test, Mann–Whitney U test, non-parametric Friedman’s analysis of variance for paired samples and pairwise multiple comparisons, Pearson’s chi-square test, two-proportion z-test, non-parametric McNemar’s and Cochran’s Q, and Wilcoxon tests were used (p < 0.05). In both groups, there was a decrease in TMJ pain and pain intensity over time and improvements in the quality of life scores. At T6, there was a higher rate of splint wear in the MOS group than in the ROS group (p = 0.023). The MOS showed a higher rate of wear than the rigid splint but had similar results for the other variables. ABSTRACT Background: The objective of this study is to characterize the diversity and genetic structure of A. colubrina in three Atlantic Forest fragments in the south of Espírito Santo state, using Inter Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSR) molecular markers. Genomic DNA from 85 trees was analyzed using 12 ISSR primers, generating 147 fragments, of which 109 were polymorphic (74%). Markers were characterized as moderately informative, with a mean polymorphic informational content of 0.34. Results: Low genetic diversity was found for the three fragments and in the total sample, based on Nei’s diversity parameters (H* = 0.26) and Shannon’s index (I* = 0.38). In the dissimilarity analysis, four groups were observed in the dendrogram with an exclusive clustering trend by location. The analysis of molecular variance confirmed that most of the genetic variation is found within populations (73.50%), however, with high genetic differentiation between them (Φ ST = 0.26). This result was supported by the Bayesian approach that indicated genetically structured populations. Conclusion: The data obtained reveal that forest fragmentation affected the diversity and genetic structure of A. colubrina and allow expanding knowledge for the development of effective strategies for the conservation and management of the species. Resumen: El turismo de base comunitaria se ha considerado una estrategia fundamental para comprender y apoyar la conservación, valorizar los atributos de la naturaleza y de la cultura y el propio proceso de gestión de unidades de conservación de la naturaleza. Las primeras iniciativas de esa práctica surgieron, a mediados de la década de 1990, en las regiones norte, nordeste y sur de Brasil, caracterizadas por un fuerte componente de participación y protagonismo de la comunidad local, en el proceso de planificación y gestión de las actividades, sobre todo, en defensa de sus territorios tradicionalmente ocupados, que en gran parte están vinculados a las unidades de conservación de uso sostenible. El artículo busca, así, analizar las percepciones de los actores locales e interlocutores institucionales sobre el turismo de base comunitaria en unidades de conservación de uso sostenible federales, considerando cuatro experiencias: Área de Protección Ambiental Guapi-Mirim (RJ), Área de Protección Ambiental de Cairuçu (RJ), Reserva Extractivista Prainha do Canto Verde (CE) y Reserva Extractiva Tapajós-Arapiuns (PA). La metodología de investigación cualitativa adoptada se basó, principalmente, en el estudio bibliográfico y documental, el trabajo de campo virtual y el análisis y tratamiento de los datos. Los principales resultados obtenidos han revelado numerosas oportunidades de turismo de base comunitaria en unidad de conservación de uso sostenible, de organización sociopolítica, reconocimiento y valorización mutua de naturaleza-cultura, además del diálogo entre comunidades, ICMBio, colaboradores y sociedad civil. Abstract: Community-based tourism has been considered a fundamental strategy to understand and support conservation, value the attributes of nature and culture and the very process of management of protected areas. The first initiatives emerged in the mid-1990s in the North, Northeast and South regions of Brazil, characterized by a strong component of participation and protagonism of the local community in the process of planning and management of activities. These initiatives are presented, above all, in defense of their traditionally occupied territories, which, for the most part, are linked to the protected areas with sustainable use of natural resources. The article seeks, thus, to analyze the perceptions of local actors and institutional interlocutors on community-based tourism in federal protected areas with sustainable use of natural resources, considering four experiences: Guapi-Mirim Environmental Protection Area (Rio de Janeiro) Environmental Protection Area of Cairuçu (Rio de Janeiro), Prainha do Canto Verde Extractive Reserve (Ceará) and Tapajós-Arapiuns Extractive Reserve (Pará). ABSTRACT Introduction: In 2020, the new coronavirus pandemic affected the whole world, causing historic changes in several sectors, including education, in which students were forced to quickly adapt to online learning. Objective: This study aimed to compare medical students’ adaptation to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic depending on whether they were following a PBL curriculum or a curriculum based on an expository disciplinary model. Method: This was a cross-sectional study. The sample was composed of students enrolled in the 2nd to 4th year of the Medicine course who had fully completed the questionnaire and attended at least one semester of remote learning during 2020. Result: A significant difference was found between the students’ adaptation to remote learning during the Covid-19 pandemic according to their study methodology; students using the PBL model showed better adaptation than those following an expository learning model. Conclusion: The study corroborated the results in the existing literature on the subject, which defends PBL as a better alternative for online learning. RESUMO Introdução: Em 2020, o mundo foi afetado pelo novo coronavírus, e isso gerou mudanças históricas em diversos setores, incluindo o da educação, que teve que se adaptar rapidamente ao formato online. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivo comparar se houve uma melhor adaptação ao ensino remoto durante a pandemia de Covid-19 dos acadêmicos de Medicina que estudam em currículos PBL quando comparada a de alunos com currículos em modelo disciplinar expositivo. Método: Trata-se de um estudo transversal. Foram incluídos na pesquisa os estudantes matriculados do segundo ao quarto ano do curso de Medicina que tenham preenchido o questionário completamente e cursado pelo menos um semestre de ensino remoto durante o ano de 2020. Resultado: Houve uma diferença significativa entre as metodologias, com maior adaptação dos estudantes que utilizaram o modelo PBL em comparação aos que cursaram no modelo disciplinar expositivo durante a pandemia de Covid-19. Conclusão: Na amostra estudada, o método PBL mostrou-se superior ao método disciplinar, nos quesitos avaliados, na adaptação de estudantes de Medicina ao ensino remoto. Abstract Fairs of family farming on agroecological bases are direct sales channels of great importance for local supply. Thus, it is essential to devise ways to evaluate and monitor their evolution. In the present case study, a methodology was applied to analyze commercialization at the Family Agriculture Fair (FAF) held at the Seropédica Campus of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). The objective of this study was to analyze gross sales and the seasonality of the supply and demand of products in the FAF, relate these factors to agroecological production in the Baixada Fluminense, and both demonstrate and understand the relationships among the supply, prices and sales of products. A literature review was conducted on the short circuit and commercialization forms of family farming, and data from 1,664 marketing reports, self-completed by market traders from 2017 to 2019, were analyzed. The results allow us to conclude that (i) the stallholders farmers at FAF are not mere price takers; (ii) gross sales are influenced by the seasonality of demand and supply; (iii) the effects of seasonality have an impact on supply and sales but are reduced with low price volatility; and (iv) the offers are diversified, and the items have close substitutes within the same product category. Resumo As feiras da agricultura familiar em bases agroecológicas são canais de venda direta de grande importância para o abastecimento local. Desse modo, é imprescindível tecer formas de avaliar e acompanhar a sua evolução. No presente estudo de caso, aplicou-se uma metodologia para a análise da comercialização na Feira da Agricultura Familiar (FAF), realizada no Campus Seropédica da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). Objetivou-se analisar o faturamento bruto e a sazonalidade da oferta e da demanda dos produtos na FAF e relacionar esses fatores com a produção agroecológica na baixada fluminense; e demonstrar e compreender as relações entre oferta, preços e vendas dos produtos. Para isso, realizou-se uma revisão de literatura sobre circuitos curtos e formas de comercialização da agricultura familiar e analisaram-se dados de 1.664 relatórios de comercialização, autopreenchidos pelos feirantes no período de 2017 a 2019.
