Abstract Introduction The smartphone, a popular mobile device, has become attractive because it is easy to use and due to it multifunctionality. Its prolonged use, with anterior flexion of the neck and repetitive movements of the upper limbs, contributes to musculoskeletal symptoms. Objective To evaluate changes in cervical posture due to smartphone use in adults, as well as verify the association of posture with health-related factors. Methods Cross-sectional study, carried out at two universities in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brasil, between 2018 and 2019. A total of 769 adults (>18 years old) who routinely used smartphones participated. Data on socioeconomic variables, health conditions and smartphone use were collected. The cervical postural alignment was assessed, with the vertical head alignment (VHA) being measured using photogrammetry, in the anatomical position (baseline) and while typing on the smartphone. Results The mean age was 23 years (± 6.7), with a higher proportion of females (72.1%; n = 559) and an average of 7.9h (± 4.4) using the device. Smartphone use led to the forward head movement related to males (p < 0.05 by ΔVHA), time spent using the device (p < 0.05 by ΔVHA), functional disability in the cervical region (p < 0.05 by ΔVHA) and not sleeping well (p = 0.019 by ΔVHA on the R side). Resumo Introdução O smartphone, dispositivo móvel e popular, tornou-se atrativo pela facilidade de utilização e multifuncionalidade. Seu uso prolongado, com flexão anterior do pescoço e movimentos repetitivos dos membros superiores, contribui para sintomas musculoesqueléticos. Objetivo Avaliar as alterações da postura cervical pelo uso do smartphone em adultos, bem como verificar a associação da postura com fatores relacionados à saúde. Métodos Estudo transversal, em duas universidades em Fortaleza, Ceará, Brasil, entre 2018 e 2019. Participaram 769 adultos (>18 anos) que usavam rotineiramente o smartphone. Foram coletadas variáveis socioeconômicas, condições de saúde e uso do smartphone. Realizou-se a avaliação do alinhamento postural da cervical, sendo mensurado o alinhamento vertical da cabeça (AVC) pela fotogrametria, na posição anatômica (baseline) e digitando no smartphone. Resultados A idade média foi de 23 anos (± 6,7), com maior proporção do sexo feminino (72,1 %; n = 559) e média de 7,9h (± 4,4) utilizando o dispositivo. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate smartphone addiction and postural alterations in the cervical region in adolescents. Methods: A cross-sectional study with 281 adolescents (15 to 19 years old), attending the 1st to the 3rd grades of High School, carried out between September and October 2019 in the city of Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Data collection took place in two stages. In the first, they answered four self-administered questionnaires: sociodemographic questionnaire, health conditions and smartphone use, Nordic Musculoskeletal Symptom Questionnaire (NMQ), Self-Report Questionnaire (SRQ-20) and the Smartphone Addiction Inventory (SPAI-BR). In the second stage, they were submitted to photogrammetry using the Postural Assessment Software (SAPO) and anthropometric assessment (weight and height). The software SPSS Statistics version 23.0 was used for data analysis. Results: Of the total number of adolescents, 63.3% (n=178) showed smartphone addiction, using it for 5.8 hours (±3.5) during the week and 8.7 (±4.0) hours on the weekend. When analyzing postural alignment in the anterior view, a significant reduction in the lateral head tilt was observed when typing on the smartphone (p=0.002) compared to the anatomical position (baseline). In the lateral view, an increase in head anteriorization was observed during smartphone use (p<0.05). There was an association between smartphone addiction and head anteriorization (p<0.05). Conclusions: The use of the smartphone in the typing position causes postural alterations in the cervical region, especially in adolescents with smartphone addiction. Therefore, health promotion measures that alert adolescents to the adverse effects caused by prolonged smartphone use are necessary. RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar a dependência do smartphone e a alteração postural da região cervical em adolescentes. Métodos: Estudo transversal, com 281 adolescentes (15 a 19 anos), que frequentavam da 1ᵃ à 3ᵃ série do ensino médio, realizado entre setembro e outubro de 2019 na cidade de Fortaleza, Ceará, Brasil. Ao analisar o alinhamento postural na visão anterior, observou-se redução significativa da inclinação lateral de cabeça ao digitar no smartphon e (p=0,002) comparado à posição anatômica (baseline). Na visão lateral foi constatado aumento da anteriorização de cabeça durante o uso do smartphon e (p<0,05). Houve associação da dependência do smartphone com a anteriorização de cabeça (p<0,05). Conclusões: O uso do smartphone na posição de digitação causa alteração postural na região cervical, destacadamente naqueles que apresentam dependência do dispositivo. Dessa forma, são necessárias medidas de promoção de saúde que alertem os adolescentes sobre os efeitos adversos causados pelo uso prolongado do smartphone. ABSTRACT Lippia dulcis is a medicinal species used by communities in the Amazon region for the control of diabetes and as a tranquilizer. The objective of this study was to evaluate the plant biomass production, antioxidant defense, and chemical profiles of the phenolic compounds and essential oil of plants grown under different doses of cattle, quail, and chicken manure. Chicken and quail manure at a dose of 6 kg m-2 reached the highest values of dry weight and essential oil yield of the leaves and positively influenced bisabolol production. Cattle manure affected the content and yield of the essential oil of the inflorescences, the antioxidant defense performance, and the chemical composition of phenolic compounds and essential oil. Plants grown with cattle manure showed a linear increase in the amounts of these substances with increasing dose. Chicken and quail manure led to the highest values of these components at doses between 0 and 3 kg m-2. The evaluation of phenolic compounds and antioxidant defense showed the highest values at doses of 0, 1.5, and 3 kg m-2, regardless of the manure used. The essential oil concentration was higher in the inflorescences, and its total yield was higher in the leaves. Abstract Objective: To evaluate and compare the sexual function and pelvic floor muscles (PFM) function of women with endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain (CPP) with and without Myofascial Pelvic Pain Syndrome (MPPS). Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted between January 2018 and December 2020. Women with deep endometriosis underwent assessments for trigger points (TP) and PFM function using the PERFECT scale. Electromyographic activity (EMG) and sexual function through Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) were assessed. Statistical analyses included chi-square and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: There were 46 women. 47% had increased muscle tone and 67% related TP in levator ani muscle (LAM). Weakness in PFM, with P≤2 was noted in 82% and P≥3 in only 17%. Incomplete relaxation of PFM presented in 30%. EMG results were resting 6.0, maximal voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) 61.9 and Endurance 14.2; FSFI mean total score 24.7. We observed an association between increased muscle tone (P<.001), difficulty in relaxation (P=.019), and lower Endurance on EMG (P=.04) in women with TP in LAM. Participants with TP presented lower total FSFI score (P=.02). TP in the right OIM presented increased muscle tone (P=.01). TP in the left OIM presented lower values to function of PFM by PERFECT (P=.005), and in MVIC (P=.03) on EMG. Conclusion: Trigger points (TP) in pelvic floor muscles (PFM) and obturator internus muscle (OIM) correlates with poorer PFM and sexual function, particularly in left OIM TP cases. Endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain raise muscle tone, weaken muscles, hinder relaxation, elevate resting electrical activity, lower maximum voluntary isometric contraction, and reduce PFM endurance. ABSTRACT BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The presence of central sensitization (CS) in people with chronic neck pain requires clarification, as does the possible disparities between genders. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the presence of CS in chronic neck pain according to gender. METHODS: Cross-sectional study with the participation of 260 adults (18-59 years old) with chronic neck pain, carried out between September 2022 and September 2023. Instruments were applied to collect sociodemographic profile, pain characteristics, cervical functional disability and presence of SC. The software SPSS 23.0 was used for comparative analyzes. RESULTS: Regarding disparities between genders, there were no differences in the intensity of pain and cervical functional disability (p=0.134 and p=0.277, respectively). However, SC was higher in women (43.5 ± 14.0; p=0.003). In females, CS was related to "pain interference" in the aspects of walking (r=0.311; p=0.001), relationships with people (r=0.309; p=0.001), appreciation of life (r=0.321; p= 0.001) and with cervical functional disability (r=0.570; p=0.001). In males, CS was related to "pain interference" in aspects such as general activity (r=0.311; p=0.008), mood (r=0.376; p=0.001), walking (r=0.313; p= 0.007), relationships with people (r=0.477; p=0.001), sleep (r=0.321; p=0.006), appreciation of life (r=0.427 p=0.001) and functional disability (r=0.667; p<0.001). CONCLUSION: Women with chronic neck pain showed a greater presence of CS, while CS in men was related to a variety of aspects that negatively affect life. Given this, differences between genders could be considered in the management of patients with chronic neck pain. RESUMO JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS: A presença de sensibilização central (SC) em pessoas com dor cervical crônica carece de esclarecimentos, bem como as possíveis disparidades entre os sexos. Portanto, objetivou-se avaliar a presença de SC na dor cervical crônica de acordo com o sexo. Foram aplicados instrumentos para coletar perfil sociodemográfico, características da dor, incapacidade funcional da cervical e presença de SC. Para análises comparativas foi utilizado o SPSS 23.0. RESULTADOS: Nas disparidades entre os sexos, não houve diferenças na intensidade da dor e incapacidade funcional cervical (p=0,134 e p=0,277, respectivamente). No entanto, a SC foi mais elevada nas mulheres (43,5 ± 14,0; p=0,003). No sexo feminino, a SC apresentou relação com a "interferência da dor" nos aspectos: caminhar (r=0,311; p=0,001), relacionamento interpessoal (r=0,309; p=0,001), apreciação da vida (r=0,321; p=0,001) e com incapacidade funcional da cervical (r=0,570; p=0,001). Já no sexo masculino, a SC teve relação com a "interferência da dor" em aspectos como atividade geral (r=0,311; p=0,008), humor (r=0,376; p=0,001), caminhar (r=0,313; p=0,007), relacionamento interpessoal (r=0,477; p=0,001), sono (r=0,321; p=0,006), apreciação da vida (r=0,427 p=0,001) e incapacidade funcional (r=0,667; p<0,001). CONCLUSÃO: Mulheres com dor cervical crônica mostraram maior presença da SC, enquanto nos homens a SC esteve relacionada a uma variedade de aspectos que afetam negativamente a vida. Diante disso, as diferenças entre os sexos poderiam ser consideradas no gerenciamento de pacientes com dor cervical crônica. Abstract Accurate measurement of the residual stress in welded joints is still a major challenge for both welding quality control and non-destructive testing. One of the most recent and innovative magnetic techniques for this purpose, known as Magnetic Barkhausen Noise (MBN), is based on the reorganization of magnetic domains (regions with uniform magnetic orientations) in the presence of a varying magnetic field in the studied ferromagnetic material. A significant difficulty in using this method for the analysis of welded joints lies in evaluating of the contribution that each altered material property induces in the resulting noise signal. Therefore, the objective of this study was to correlate the MBN signal with the typical changes that occur in the weld bead and its specific regions during the welding process applied to ASTM A36 steel. Abstract Purpose To present the content and response process validity evidence of the Speaking in Public Coping of Scale (ECOFAP). Methods A methodological study to develop and validate the instrument. It followed the instrument development method with theoretical, empirical, and analytical procedures, based on the validity criteria of the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (SEPT). The process of obtaining content validity evidence had two stages: 1) conceptual definition of the construct, based on theoretical precepts of speaking in public and the Motivational Theory of Coping (MTC); 2) developing items and response keys, structuring the instrument, assessment by a committee with 10 specialists, restructuring scale items, and developing the ECOFAP pilot version. Item representativity was analyzed through the item content validity index. The response process was conducted in a single stage with a convenience sample of 30 people with and without difficulties speaking in public, from the campus of a Brazilian university, belonging to various social and professional strata. In this process, the respondents’ verbal and nonverbal reactions were qualitatively analyzed. Results The initial version of ECOFAP, consisting of 46 items, was evaluated by judges and later reformulated, resulting in a second version with 60 items. This second version was again submitted for expert analysis, and the content validity index per item was calculated. 18 items were excluded, resulting in a third version of 42 items. The validity evidence based on the response processes of the 42-item version was applied to a sample of 30 individuals, resulting in the rewriting of one item and the inclusion of six more items, resulting in the pilot version of ECOFAP with 48 items. Resumo Objetivo Apresentar as evidências de validade baseadas no conteúdo e nos processos de resposta da Escala de Coping para a Fala em Público (ECOFAP). Método Estudo metodológico de elaboração e validação de instrumento. Seguiu-se o modelo de elaboração de instrumentos com procedimentos teóricos, empíricos e analíticos, baseados nos critérios de validade do Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (SEPT). O processo de obtenção das evidências de validade baseadas no conteúdo foi realizado em duas etapas: 1) definição conceitual do construto, elaborado com base nos preceitos teóricos da fala em público e da Teoria Motivacional do Coping (TMC); 2) elaboração dos itens e chave de respostas, estruturação do instrumento, avaliação por comitê de dez especialistas, reestruturação dos itens da escala, realizada em três momentos, até a elaboração da versão piloto da ECOFAP. RESUMO Fundamento: As evidências acerca das sequelas a longo prazo após internação por síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo por COVID-19 ainda são escassas. Objetivo: Avaliar alterações nas funções pulmonar, cardíaca e renal e na qualidade de vida após internação por síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo secundária à COVID-19. Métodos: Trata-se de estudo multicêntrico, caso-controle, incluindo 220 participantes. Os casos serão definidos como pacientes hospitalizados por síndrome do desconforto respiratório agudo devido à COVID-19. No Grupo Controle, serão selecionados indivíduos sem histórico de hospitalização nos últimos 12 meses ou sintomas a longo prazo de COVID-19. Todos os indivíduos serão submetidos à espirometria pulmonar com teste de difusão pelo monóxido de carbono, tomografia de tórax, ressonância magnética cardíaca e renal com gadolínio, ergoespirometria, creatinina sérica e urinária, proteínas totais e microalbuminúria urinária, além de questionários de qualidade de vida. Os casos serão avaliados 12 meses após a alta hospitalar e os controles, 90 dias após a inclusão no estudo. Para todas as análises estatísticas, será assumido como significativo o valor p < 0,05. Resultados: O desfecho primário do estudo foi definido com a capacidade de difusão pulmonar aferida para o monóxido de carbono a partir de 12 meses. Os demais parâmetros das funções pulmonar, cardíacas e renal e da qualidade de vida foram definidos como desfechos secundários. ABSTRACT Rationale: Evidence about long-term sequelae after hospitalization for acute respiratory distress syndrome due to COVID-19 is still scarce. Purpose: To evaluate changes in pulmonary, cardiac, and renal function and in quality of life after hospitalization for acute respiratory distress syndrome secondary to COVID-19. Methods: This will be a multicenter case–control study of 220 participants. Eligible are patients who are hospitalized for acute respiratory distress syndrome due to COVID-19. In the control group, individuals with no history of hospitalization in the last 12 months or long-term symptoms of COVID-19 will be selected. All individuals will be subjected to pulmonary spirometry with a carbon monoxide diffusion test, chest tomography, cardiac and renal magnetic resonance imaging with gadolinium, ergospirometry, serum and urinary creatinine, total protein, and urinary microalbuminuria, in addition to quality-of-life questionnaires. Patients will be evaluated 12 months after hospital discharge, and controls will be evaluated within 90 days of inclusion in the study. For all the statistical analyses, p < 0.05 is the threshold for significance. Results: The primary outcome of the study will be the pulmonary diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide measured after 12 months. RESUMO Objetivo: mapear as evidências científicas acerca das percepções, crenças, conhecimentos e atitudes de pais ou responsáveis legais de crianças menores de 5 anos quanto à vacinação infantil de rotina. Métodos: revisão de escopo, conduzida de acordo com o referencial do JBI. As buscas foram realizadas nas bases PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus e LILACS. Retornaram 5.535 estudos e foram selecionados 77, que atenderam aos critérios de inclusão. ABSTRACT Objective: to map scientific evidence about perceptions, beliefs, knowledge and attitudes of parents or legal guardians of children under 5 years of age regarding routine childhood vaccination. Methods: a scoping review, conducted in accordance with the JBI framework. The searches were carried out in the PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus and LILACS databases. Resumo Introdução: A horizontalização do cuidado é uma forma de organização do trabalho em saúde, na qual existe uma equipe multiprofissional de referência que atua diariamente no serviço, em contraposição à forma de organização do trabalho em que profissionais têm uma carga horária distribuída por plantão. Objetivos: Compreender o processo de trabalho relacionado às atribuições do enfermeiro rotineiro na equipe multiprofissional. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, exploratório de cunho qualitativo, realizada com 48 profissionais de um hospital público no Distrito Federal, Brasil. A coleta de dados ocorreu no período de 10 de outubro a 30 de novembro de 2022. Os dados foram analisados por meio da análise de conteúdo de Bardin: pré-análise, exploração do material e tratamento dos resultados, inferência e interpretação. Resultados: Foi possível encontrar três núcleos de sentido que foram divididos em três categorias: 1- Inexistência de sistematização do trabalho do rotineiro; 2- Processo de trabalho na percepção da equipe; e 3- Necessidades de aprendizagem. Conclusões: Verificou-se que o papel do enfermeiro horizontal não está devidamente esclarecido, necessitando, portanto, de elaboração de protocolos institucionais que apresentem as atividades a serem desenvolvidas pela horizontal e pelo plantonista. Abstract Introduction: The horizontalization of care is a form of organization of work in health, in which there is a multidisciplinary team of reference that works daily in the service, as opposed to the form of organization of work in which professionals have a workload distributed per shift. Objectives: Understanding the work process related to the duties of the horizontal nurse in the multidisciplinary team. Methods: This is a descriptive, exploratory qualitative study, carried out with 48 professionals from a public hospital. Data collection took place from October 10 to November 30, 2022. Data were analyzed using Bardin’s content analysis: pre-analysis, material exploration and treatment of results, inference and interpretation. Results: It was possible to find three nuclei of meaning that were divided into three categories: 1- Lack of routine work systematization; 2- Work process in the team's perception; and 3- Learning needs. Conclusions: It was verified that the role of the horizontal nurse is not properly clarified, therefore requiring the elaboration of institutional protocols that present the activities to be developed by the horizontal nurse and by the on-duty nurse. In order to align conducts in the hospital scenario, it is suggested extensive training of the multidisciplinary team with a horizontal care approach, recommended by the National Policy for Hospital Care.

Abstract The aim of this study was to describe the prevalence, clinicopathological, and prognostic features of acinic cell carcinoma (AciCC) of the oral and maxillofacial region. AciCC cases were retrospectively retrieved from 11 pathology centers of three different countries. Medical records were examined to extract demographic, clinical, pathologic, and follow-up information. A total of 75 cases were included. Females (65.33%) with a mean age of 45.51 years were mostly affected. The lesions usually presented as an asymptomatic (64.28%) nodule (95.66%) in the parotid gland (70.68%). The association of two histopathological patterns was the most common finding (48.93%) and the tumors presented mainly conventional histopathological grades (86.11%). Surgical treatment was performed in the majority of the cases (59.19%). Local recurrence was observed in 20% of the informed cases, regional metastasis in 30.43%, and distant metastasis in 12.50%. The statistical analysis showed that the cases with a solid histopathological pattern (p=0.01), high-grade transformation (p=0.008), recurrence (p=0.007), and regional metastasis (p=0.03) were associated with poor survival. Abstract Background The long-term effects of mild COVID-19 on physical, cognitive, and mental health are not yet well understood. Objective The purpose of this paper is to describe the protocol for the ongoing “Post-COVID Brazil” study 2, which aims to evaluate the factors associated with health-related quality of life and long-term cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular outcomes one year after a mild episode of symptomatic COVID-19. Methods The “Post-COVID Brazil” study 2 is a prospective multicenter study that plans to enroll 1047 patients (NCT05197647). Centralized, structured telephone interviews are conducted at 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after COVID-19 diagnosis. The primary outcome is the health-related quality-of-life utility score, assessed using the EuroQol-5D-3L (EQ-5D-3L) questionnaire at 12 months. Secondary endpoints include the EQ-5D-3L at 3, 6, and 9 months, as well as all-cause mortality, major cardiovascular events, hospitalization, return to work or education, persistent symptoms, new disabilities in instrumental activities of daily living, cognitive impairment, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress symptoms at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after SARS-CoV-2 infection. A p-value < 0.05 will be considered statistically significant for all analyses. Results The primary endpoint will be presented as the overall frequency of the EQ-5D-3L domains 12 months after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Resumo Fundamento Os efeitos em longo prazo da COVID-19 leve sobre a saúde física, mental e cognitiva ainda não são bem conhecidos. Objetivo Este artigo visa descrever o protocolo para o estudo em andamento Pós-COVID Brasil 2, o qual tem como objetivo avaliar os fatores associados à qualidade de vida associada à saúde e desfechos cardiovasculares e não cardiovasculares de longo prazo um ano após um episódio de COVID-19 sintomática leve. Métodos O estudo “Pós-COVID Brasil 2” é um estudo multicêntrico prospectivo que pretende incluir 1047 pacientes (NCT05197647). Entrevistas estruturas, centralizadas são conduzidas em um mês, e aos três, seis, nove e 12 meses após o diagnóstico de COVID-19. O desfecho primário é o escore de utilidade da qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde, avaliado usando o questionário EuroQol-5D-3L (EQ-5D-3L) aos 12 meses. Desfechos secundários incluem o EQ-5D-3L aos três, seis e nove meses, mortalidade por todas as causas, eventos cardiovasculares maiores, hospitalização, retorno ao trabalho ou à escola, sintomas persistentes, novas incapacidades em atividades instrumentais diárias, déficit cognitivo, ansiedade, depressão, e sintomas de transtorno do estresse pós-traumático as três, seis, nove e doze meses após a infecção pelo SARS-CoV-2. Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the contribution of oral and maxillofacial pathology laboratories (OMPLs) in Brazilian public universities to the diagnosis of lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). A cross-sectional study was performed using biopsy records from a consortium of sixteen public OMPLs from all regions of Brazil (North, Northeast, Central-West, Southeast, and South). Clinical and demographic data of patients diagnosed with lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCC between 2010 and 2019 were collected from the patients’ histopathological records. Of the 120,010 oral and maxillofacial biopsies (2010-2019), 6.9% (8,321 cases) were diagnosed as lip (0.8%, 951 cases), oral cavity (4.9%, 5,971 cases), and oropharyngeal (1.2%, 1,399 cases) SCCs. Most cases were from Brazil’s Southeast (64.5%), where six of the OMPLs analyzed are located. The predominant profile of patients with lip and oral cavity SCC was Caucasian men, with a mean age over 60 years, low schooling level, and a previous history of heavy tobacco consumption. In the oropharyngeal group, the majority were non-Caucasian men, with a mean age under 60 years, had a low education level, and were former/current tobacco and alcohol users. According to data from the Brazilian National Cancer Institute, approximately 9.9% of the total lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCCs reported over the last decade in Brazil may have been diagnosed at the OMPLs included in the current study. Therefore, this data confirms the contribution of public OMPLs with respect to the important diagnostic support they provide to the oral healthcare services extended by the Brazilian Public Health System.
