Resumen: El objetivo es determinar si existe una correlación entre variables manifiestas como Producto Interno Bruto, Tipo de cambio, crecimiento económico, delitos cometidos, Precio de mezcla del petróleo, confianza del consumidor y desocupación laboral y su agrupación en factores económicos externos e internos, para determinar la bancarrota. Usando Análisis Factorial Confirmatorio (AFC), como herramienta de validación. El método consiste en, definir las variables y relacionarlas con los índices publicados por organizaciones como INEGI, BANXICO o Banco Mundial; Para posteriormente realizar el AFC. Del AFC se obtiene como resultado la correlación de variables manifiestas en dos factores, el económico externo e interno. El hallazgo fue que se logró la correlación entre las variables manifiestas y los factores económicos internos y externos. La originalidad es el uso de índices externos, sin necesidad de recurrir a métodos tradicionales de encuestas o cuestionarios. La limitante radica en que no todos los índices aportan datos suficientes.

Abstract: The objective is to determine if there is a correlation between manifest variables such as Gross Domestic Product, Exchange rate, economic growth, crimes committed, Oil mix price, consumer confidence and job unemployment and their grouping into external and internal economic factors, to determine bankruptcy. Using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), as a validation tool. The method consists of defining the variables and relating them to the indices published by organizations such as INEGI, BANXICO or the World Bank; To later perform the AFC. From the AFC, the correlation of manifest variables in two factors, the external and internal economic one, is obtained as a result. The finding was that the correlation between the manifest variables and the internal and external economic factors was achieved. Originality is the use of external indices, without the need to resort to traditional methods of surveys or questionnaires. The limitation is that not all indices provide sufficient data.

Resumen: La hipoglucemia es el desorden metabólico más frecuente en los recién nacidos; la administración de glucosa gel al 40 % en la mucosa bucal, podría ser tan efectiva en su corrección como la adminis tración de fórmula láctea, no interfiriendo con la lactancia materna. Objetivo: Evaluar la eficacia de la glucosa gel al 40 % comparada con la fórmula láctea, en el tratamiento de la hipoglucemia precoz asintomática en RN con factores de riesgo. Pacientes y Método: Ensayo clínico aleatorizado, de no inferioridad, realizado en un hospital no público. Se incluyeron recién nacidos asistidos en interna ción conjunta con factores de riesgo: pretérminos tardíos, término grandes y pequeños para edad gestacional, e hijos de madres diabéticas. Ante la presencia de hipoglucemia, un grupo recibió glucosa gel al 40 % (A) en la mucosa bucal y otro, leche de fórmula (B). Se consideró fracaso terapéutico a la persistencia o repetición de la hipoglucemia en las primeras 48 h de vida. Resultados: Se registraron 866 RN con factores de riesgo en un período de 36 meses; 278 (32,1 %) presentaron hipoglucemia; se analizan 105 RN en el grupo A y 115 en el grupo B. Se corrigió la hipoglucemia en 75 RN (71 %) en A y 104 RN (90,4 %) en B. Analizando las tendencias obtenidas se decidió suspender el estudio. Conclusiones: La administración de glucosa gel al 40 % no resultó equivalente a la administración de fórmula láctea, en el tratamiento de la hipoglucemia asintomática en RN con factores de riesgo.

Abstract: Hypoglycemia is the most frequent metabolic disorder in newborns; the administration of 40% glucose gel in the oral mucosa could be as effective in its correction as the administration of formula milk, not interfering with breastfeeding. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of 40% glucose gel compared with formula milk in the treatment of early asymptomatic hypoglycemia in newborns with risk factors. Patients and Method: Randomized clinical trial, non-inferiority, conducted in a private hospital. Newborns attended in rooming-in with the following risk factors were included: late preterm, large and small for gestational age at term, and children of diabetic mothers. In the presence of hypoglycemia, one group received 40% glucose gel (A) in the oral mucosa and another group received formula milk (B). Therapeutic failure was considered as persistence or repetition of hypoglycemia in the first 48h of life. Results: 866 NBs with risk factors were registered over 36 month; 278 (32.1 %) presented hypoglycemia; 105 NBs in group A and 115 in group B completed the study. 75 (71 %) NBs in group A and 104 (90,4 %) in group B achieved hypoglycemia correction. After analyzing the trends obtained, it was decided to discontinue the study. Conclusions: The administration of 40% glucose gel was not equivalent to the administration of formula milk in the treatment of early asymptomatic hypoglycemia in newborns with risk factors.

Abstract: Tourism is experiencing static growth; however, the decrease in transportation costs and technological development can make it a more dynamic industry; therefore, the purpose of the study was to evaluate two tourist destinations in Mexico, one in the northwest (Guaymas, Sonora) and the other in the southeast of the country (Bahías de Huatulco, Oaxaca) in order to establish the correlation between financial performance factors and technology resources in tourism companies' strategic management. The research was exploratory based on the organizational theoretical perspective called TOE: Technology, Organization and Environment framework, non-parametric statistics were used, quantifying the intensity and direction of the interdependence between the variables. It can be concluded that the tourism companies that presented a systematic financial performance and an efficient use of technological resources, generated greater opportunities to grow in the market and the ability to face the competition by improving their strategic management, in contrast to those that do not adequately present their financial statements, as well as null or low use of Information Technologies due to lack of knowledge, which has prevented them from obtaining real value from the organization and a management focused on profitability and its permanence in the future.

Resumen: La colocación de una sonda enteral es un procedimiento invasivo rutinario que puede presentar complicaciones graves. Presentamos el caso de un hombre de 54 años de edad que presentó paro cardiorrespiratorio secundario a infarto de miocardio y que, después de la colocación de una sonda nasoyeyunal, desarrolló neumotórax, por lo que ameritó su retiro, la colocación de una sonda endopleural y la administración de antibióticos. El paciente mostró adecuada expansión pulmonar, lo cual permitió el retiro de la sonda endopleural a los seis días de su instalación, la extubación del enfermo y finalmente su egreso por mejoría. El neumotórax asociado a la colocación de la sonda enteral se presenta en 1.2% de los pacientes. Los factores de riesgo son: déficit neurológico, alteración de la deglución y del reflejo tusígeno. El tratamiento descrito en la literatura es el retiro de la sonda, el uso de antibióticos y el drenaje torácico.

Abstract: Enteral tube placement is a routine invasive procedure that can present serious complications. We present the case of a 54-year-old man who presented with cardiorespiratory arrest secondary to myocardial infarction and who, after placement of a nasojejunal tube, developed pneumothorax that required removal of the tube, placement of a chest tube and administration of antibiotics. The patient presented adequate lung expansion, which allowed removal of the chest tube six days after its installation, extubation and finally discharge due to improvement. Pneumothorax associated with enteral tube placement occurs in 1.2% of patients. Risk factors are neurological deficit, impaired swallowing and cough reflex. Treatment described in the literature is removal of the tube, use of antibiotics and chest drainage.

Resumo: A colocação de sonda enteral é um procedimento invasivo de rotina que pode apresentar complicações graves. Apresentamos o caso de um homem de 54 anos que apresentou parada cardiorrespiratória secundária a infarto do miocárdio e que, após colocação de sonda nasojejunal, desenvolveu pneumotórax que exigiu sua retirada, colocação de sonda endopleural e administração de antibióticos.O paciente apresentou expansão pulmonar adequada, o que permitiu a retirada do tubo endopleural 6 dias após sua instalação, a extubação do paciente e por fim sua alta por melhora. O pneumotórax associado à colocação de sonda enteral ocorre em 1.2% dos pacientes. Os fatores de risco são: déficit neurológico, deglutição prejudicada e reflexo da tosse. O tratamento descrito na literatura é a retirada da sonda, uso de antibióticos e drenagem torácica.

Abstract The present study explores consumer behavior of tourists through user-generated content by presenting a method that utilizes online reviews and text processing techniques in analyzing behavior patterns. The current study examined 7,856 travel reviews from TripAdvisor written by international tourists visiting Holguin (Cuba) destination. This method includes the overall process of converting raw data into useful information, which comprises selection, pre-processing, data mining and interpretation. Data are collected from online review platforms rather than from traditional databases, and the first step is data crawling. Then, unstructured review content is transformed into suitable formats for analysis. The final step is exploratory data analysis, which includes both data mining and interpretation. Findings show that the cognitive dimension of the experience predominates in consumer’s behavior. The study identiﬁes topics that could be used by destination management organizations to promote this destination and highlights the advantages of applying a data science approach.

Resumen El presente estudio analiza el comportamiento del consumidor a través del contenido generado por el usuario, al presentar un método que utiliza reseñas en línea y técnicas de procesamiento de texto para analizar patrones de comportamiento. Fueron examinados 7.856 reseñas de viajes de TripAdvisor, escritas por turistas internacionales que visitan el destino Holguín (Cuba). Los datos se recopilan de plataformas de opinión online en lugar de bases de datos tradicionales y este contenido no estructurado se transforma en formatos adecuados para el análisis exploratorio, que incluye tanto el procesamiento como la interpretación de datos. Los hallazgos muestran que la dimensión cognitiva de la experiencia predomina en el comportamiento del consumidor. El estudio identifica temas que las organizaciones de gestión de destinos podrían utilizar para promover este destino y destaca las ventajas de aplicar un enfoque de ciencia de datos.

Resumen: Las cataratas son una causa importante de discapacidad visual en la población pediátrica en todo el mundo y pueden afectar significativamente el neurodesarrollo de un niño. Constituyen un problema fundamental en cuanto a su manejo y una de las causas más relevantes de ceguera tratable en los países desarrollados y en vías de desarrollo. La trisomía 21 es la cromosomopatía más frecuente, de características fenotípicas determinadas con un 60% de anormalidades oculares, entre las que se destacan las ametropías, queratocono y las cataratas. El diagnóstico clínico y la identificación temprana del tipo de cataratas, junto con intervenciones clínicas y tratamientos precoces, son claves para lograr resultados óptimos. Se presenta el caso de un recién nacido con síndrome de Down y catarata congénita bilateral y su manejo inicial.

Summary: Cataracts are a major cause of visual impairment in the pediatric population worldwide and can significantly affect a child’s neurobiological development. Congenital cataract management can become a very important problem and is one of the most important causes of blindness in developed and developing countries. Trisomy 21 is the most common chromosomal disease and it has certain phenotypic characteristics and 60% ophthalmic abnormalities, such as, ametropia, keratoconus and cataracts. The diagnosis is fundamentally clinical. Early identification, diagnosis, and appropriate clinical care are key to achieve optimal results. We present the case of a newborn with Down syndrome who was diagnosed with an early bilateral congenital cataract.

Resumo: A catarata é uma das principais causas de deficiência visual na população pediátrica no mundo e pode afetar significativamente o neurodesenvolvimento de uma criança, além de constituir um problema fundamental em termos de sua gestão e é uma das causas mais relevantes de cegueira tratável em países desenvolvidos e em desenvolvimento. Trissomia 21 é a cromossomopatia mais frequente e tem determinadas características fenotípicas com 60% de alterações oculares, como a ametropia, ceratocone e catarata. O diagnóstico clínico e a identificação precoce do tipo de catarata, juntamente com intervenções clínicas e tratamento precoces, são fundamentais para alcançar os melhores resultados. Apresentamos o caso de um recém-nascido com síndrome de Down e catarata congênita bilateral e seu manejo inicial.

Abstract: Liver damage by drugs is not so rare, its diagnosis is by exclusion, in some cases can induce acute liver failure. A review of the literature of the drugs most used in anesthetic procedures and the risk that exists of these drugs in the development of liver damage by drugs was carried out; the only drugs that have a higher risk of hepatotoxicity are halogenated inhaled ones, particularly halothane now in disuse, the rest of the drugs are safe.

Resumen: El daño hepático por medicamentos no es tan raro, su diagnóstico es por exclusión, en algunos casos puede inducir falla hepática aguda. Se realizó una revisión de la bibliografía de los medicamentos más utilizados en los procedimientos anestésicos y el riesgo que existe en estos medicamentos de desarrollar daño hepático por fármacos; los únicos medicamentos que tienen mayor riesgo de hepatotoxicidad son los inhalados halogenados, particularmente el halotano, ahora en desuso, el resto de los medicamentos son seguros.

Abstract Diseases induced by phytopathogenic fungi generate considerable economic losses and severe damage to agricultural crops. The objective of this research was to evaluate the inhibitory effect in vitro of carbon nanotubes with extracts of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens on the mycelial development of Rhizoctonia solani (Rs), Fusarium solani (Fs), Colletotrichum acutatum (Ca) and Alternaria alternata (Aa). Data were analyzed using Probit, ANOVA analysis in a completely randomized design of five treatments with 20 repetitions and Tukey test (p ≤ 0.05). B. amyloliquefaciens extracts at high doses, inhibited 100% of mycelial growth but by using carbon nanotubes with extracts at low doses, a similar inhibitory effect of Rs, Fs, Ca and Aa (100, 90, 90 and 60%) respectively. The use of carbon nanotubes with extracts of B. amyloliquefaciens are an efficient alternative in the in vitro control of phytopathogenic fungi.

Resumen Las enfermedades inducidas por hongos fitopatógenos generan pérdidas económicas considerables y daños severos a los cultivos agrícolas. El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el efecto inhibitorio in vitro de nanotubos de carbono con extractos de Bacillus amyloliquefaciens sobre el desarrollo micelial de Rhizoctonia solani (Rs), Fusarium solani (Fs), Colletotrichum acutatum (Ca) y Alternaria alternata (Aa). Se analizaron los datos mediante análisis Probit, ANOVA en un diseño completamente al azar de cinco tratamientos con 20 repeticiones y prueba de Tukey (p ≤ 0.05). Los extractos de B. amyloliquefaciens a dosis altas, inhibieron el 100% del crecimiento micelial pero al usar nanotubos de carbono con extractos a dosis bajas, se logró un efecto inhibitorio similar de Rs, Fs, Ca y Aa (100, 90, 90 y 60%) respectivamente. El uso de nanotubos de carbono con extractos de B. amyloliquefaciens son una alternativa eficiente en el control in vitro de hongos fitopatógenos.

Resumen El objetivo fue evaluar el comportamiento higiénico (CH) de abejas melíferas (Apis mellifera) africanizadas y su impacto en la resistencia a la ascosferosis causada por Ascosphaera apis. Se evaluó el CH y la población de abejas adultas y de cría de 50 colonias. Además, colonias con alto (>95 %) y bajo (<50 %) CH fueron inoculadas con A. apis y en ellas se determinó el número de crías con signos de ascosferosis (momias) durante 17 días, datos que se correlacionaron con su grado de CH. También se evaluó la susceptibilidad a A. apis de larvas de colonias con alto y bajo CH en un medio ambiente común, para separar efectos ambientales de genotípicos. El grado de CH entre colonias varió significativamente (CV>36 %), con 20 % de las colonias mostrando alto CH ((95 %) y éste no se correlacionó con la población de abejas adultas y cría. Las colonias con alto CH tuvieron un número significativamente menor de momias que las colonias con bajo CH y hubo una correlación negativa entre el CH y el número de momias (r= -0.63, P= 0.02). Además, las larvas de colonias con alto o bajo CH fueron igualmente susceptibles al hongo. Estos resultados sugieren que el CH y la susceptibilidad de las larvas no están asociados y que el principal mecanismo de protección contra A. apis en poblaciones de abejas africanizadas es el CH. Por ello, la selección de colonias con alto comportamiento higiénico podría contribuir a mejorar la salud y productividad de las abejas melíferas.

Abstract The objective was to evaluate the hygienic behavior (HB) of Africanized honeybees (Apis mellifera) and its impact on resistance to ascospherosis caused by Ascosphaera apis. The HB and the population of adult bees and brood of 50 colonies were evaluated. In addition, colonies with high (>95 %) and low (<50 %) HB were inoculated with A. apis and in them, the number of broods with signs of ascospherosis (mummies) was determined for 17 days, data that correlated with their degree of HB. The susceptibility to A. apis of larvae from colonies with high and low HB in a common environment was also evaluated to separate environmental from genotypic effects. The degree of HB between colonies varied significantly (CV>36 %), with 20 % of the colonies showing high HB (≥95 %) and this did not correlate with the population of adult bees and brood. Colonies with high HB had significantly fewer mummies than colonies with low HB and there was a negative correlation between HB and number of mummies (r= -0.63, P= 0.02). In addition, larvae from colonies with high or low HB were equally susceptible to the fungus. These results suggest that HB and larval susceptibility are not associated and that the main protection mechanism against A. apis in Africanized bee populations is HB. Therefore, the selection of colonies with high hygienic behavior could contribute to improving the health and productivity of honeybees.

Resumen Paciente de 69 años con antecedentes de diabetes, hipertensión arterial y EPOC, presenta alteraciones del estado neurológico focal y del estado de alerta, que corresponde inicialmente con un coma diabético y tensión arterial elevada, posteriormente con dificultad para elevar el párpado derecho, realizándose tomografía de cráneo, resonancia magnética de cráneo y exámenes de laboratorio. Tomografía de cráneo con reporte de hallazgos indirectos de trombosis vs. tromboflebitis del seno cavernoso caracterizado por ptosis derecha con incremento de la densidad de la grasa intraconal, edema de los músculos extraconales, abombamiento del seno cavernoso de predominio izquierdo, zona de infarto en giros frontobasales, proceso inflamatorio en la mucosa nasal de cavidades paranasales. Resonancia magnética de cráneo con reporte de abscesos parenquimatosos de localización frontobasal bilateral que se asocia a proceso inflamatorio e infeccioso etmoidal bilateral y miositis del oblicuo superior derecho.

Summary Patient of 69 years with a history of diabetes, arterial hypertension and COPD, showing conscious and focal alterations of the neurologic state, which at a beginning correspond to a diabetic comma and elevated blood pressure with difficulty to elevate the right eyelid, cranium tomography, cranium magnetic resonance and laboratory tests are run. The tomography shows findings of thrombosis vs. thrombophlebitis of the venous sinus characterized by right ptosis with increment of the intraconal fat density, extraconal muscle edema, predominantly left bulging of the venous sinus, infarct on the frontobasal gyrus. Inflammatory process of the nasal mucosa of paranasal cavities. Cranium magnetic resonance bilateral frontobasal parenchimal abscesses are reported, associated to bilateral etmoidal inflammatory and infectious process and myositis of the upper right oblicuos.

Resumen: En noviembre de 2021 se informó sobre una nueva variante de preocupación (VoC) de SARS-CoV-2, la llamada variante Ómicron (B.1.1.529), que llamó la atención de los expertos por su elevado número de mutaciones en la proteína S. Presentamos a un paciente masculino de 51 años proveniente de Sudáfrica que comienza con síntomas respiratorios a las 48 horas de su llegada a la Ciudad de México. Durante su estancia en urgencias se obtuvo prueba de antígeno y RT-qPCR para SARS-CoV-2 positivas, con mínima alteración de parámetros de laboratorio y sin evidencia de afección pulmonar por tomografía. El paciente presentó evolución favorable y fue dado de alta seis días después. El día 29 de noviembre se recibió la notificación del Instituto de Diagnóstico y Referencia Epidemiológicos (InDRE) de que se trataba de la variante Ómicron del virus SARS-CoV-2.

Abstract: On November 2021 a new SARS-CoV-2 variant of concern (VoC), named Omicron (B.1.1.529) was reported. This variant draw attention for its high number of mutations on the S protein. We present a 51 year old male, from South Africa who started with respiratory symptoms 48 hours after his arrival to Mexico City. During his stay at the ER a positive antigen and positive RT-qPCR were obtained. Minimal laboratory alterations were observed with no evidence of lung involvement on the CT scan. The outcome was favorable and was discharged six days later. On November 29, a notification from InDRE was received, reporting that the sequence obtained was compatible with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant.

Resumen La historia argentina ha estado signada por largos períodos de inestabilidad institucional. En este artículo intentamos aportar algunos elementos que nos permitan evaluar algunas de las causas de dicha inestabilidad. El presente artículo tiene como propósito identificar los factores que explican las variaciones en la duración (y estabilidad) de los gobiernos en la Argentina. Analiza el conjunto de presidentes que gobernaron la República Argentina desde 1862 hasta la actualidad, enfatizando el efecto que poseen las formas de acceso al poder sobre la duración de los gobiernos. Los resultados muestran distintos patrones que explican diferencias entre la supervivencia de presidentes que llegaron al cargo consagrados por el voto popular y aquellos gobernantes que accedieron por otros mecanismos. Estos últimos registran mayores riesgos de quiebre al asumir el gobierno, situación que disminuye con el transcurrir de la presidencia. En cambio, los gobernantes que accedieron mediante el voto popular enfrentan la situación contraria: el riesgo se incrementa a lo largo de sus mandatos. Por tanto, podemos sostener que las probabilidades de reemplazo en gobiernos con un origen distinto al electoral resultan de conflictos de intereses que se expresan a partir de su falta de legitimidad de origen y minan su capacidad de gobierno rápidamente, en tanto que la de los gobiernos originados en procesos electorales es resultado de un desgaste político que se da en el mediano o largo plazo.

Abstract Argentine history has had long periods of institutional instability. In this article we try to evaluate some of the causes of this instability. The purpose of this article is to identify the factors that explain the variation in government survival in Argentina. This analyzes the set of presidents who governed the Argentine Republic from 1862 until the present, emphasizing the effect that the ways of access to power have on the longevity of governments. The results show different patterns that explain differences between the survival of presidents who came to office by popular vote and those rulers who acceded throughout other mechanisms. The latter register greater risks of bankruptcy when they assume the government, a situation that diminishes as the presidency goes on. On the other hand, the rulers who acceded by popular vote face the opposite situation: the risk increases along their mandates. Therefore, we can argue that the probabilities of replacement in governments with a different origin than electoral result from conflicts of interest that expressed their lack of legitimacy of origin and undermine their capacity to govern. On the contrary way, governments that results of electoral processes suffer from political erosion that occurs in the medium or long term.

Resumen OBJETIVO: Emitir recomendaciones para la vigilancia y seguimiento de pacientes embarazadas con diabetes mellitus tipos 1, 2 y gestacional con base en la experiencia de un grupo de especialistas y en lo reportado en la bibliografía, desde la perspectiva del sistema de salud mexicano. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se utilizó la metodología del panel Delphi modificado, mediante la unanimidad de criterios de un grupo de especialistas en Ginecoobstetricia, Biología de la Reproducción y Medicina Materno Fetal mexicanos, tomando en cuenta un nivel de unanimidad del 80% de los participantes. RESULTADOS: Con base en un ejercicio de consenso se recomienda el monitoreo continuo de la glucosa en todas las pacientes embarazadas con diabetes mellitus tipos 1 y 2 a partir del primer trimestre de la gestación. En pacientes con diabetes gestacional considerar, a partir del segundo o tercer trimestre, el monitoreo continuo de la glucosa en usuarias de insulina o en descontrol glucémico, dependiendo del momento en que se diagnostique la diabetes gestacional, del descontrol glucémico y de la necesidad de insulina. La hemoglobina glucosilada y el tiempo en las concentraciones límite también son métricas de control glucémico. CONCLUSIONES: El monitoreo continuo de la glucosa tiene ventajas en: menos complicaciones perinatales, detección oportuna y reducción de eventos de hiper o hipoglucemia, menor descontrol, ajuste de dosis respecto del tratamiento con insulina y mejora en los hábitos para controlar las concentraciones de glucosa.

Abstract OBJECTIVE: To issue recommendations for the surveillance and follow-up of pregnant patients with types 1, 2 and gestational diabetes mellitus based on the experience of a group of experts and on what is reported in the literature, from the perspective of the Mexican health system. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A modified Delphi Panel methodology was performed, through consensus among gynecology, reproductive biologist, and fetal-maternal specialists, and an 80% consensus of all participants. RESULTS: Based on the consensus exercise, we recommend continuous glucose monitoring in all pregnant patients with type I and II diabetes starting on the first trimester; meanwhile in patients with gestational diabetes, continuous monitoring should be considered in patients treated with insulin or uncontrolled glycemia, starting in the second or third trimester, depending on the moment of diagnosis, glycemic levels and insulin requirements, taking into account HbA1c levels and time in range as well as glycemic control metrics. CONCLUSIONS: Continuous glucose monitoring has advantages including the reduction of perinatal complications, timely detection, reduction in the number of hyper/hypoglycemia events, fewer uncontrolled patients, and the capacity for insulin dosage adjustments and improvement of habits for glucose control.

ABSTRACT In Cuba, the sustainable management of renewable energy sources (FRE) shows a privileged place from the political and public agendas, with concrete impacts on rural communities that are difficult to access. The prioritization of priorities for the management of RES at the micro level (local / community) is an issue that acquires relevance to the extent that actors and artifacts dialogue and are co-constructed in the decision-making processes. The theoretical-practical disconnection, the disarticulation in local management processes and the inadequacy of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) are determining factors of the article aimed at: Identifying limits and opportunities for the participatory development of RES in three rural communities of the central-western region of Cuba. Participant observation, document analysis, surveys, interviews and participatory dynamics constitute methodological supports for the proposed study based on the principles of popular education. Based on the analysis of three communities and their 152 families, the results obtained allow us to identify tensions, successes and multiple lessons in the effort to modify the energy matrix under an inclusive and emancipatory social order.

RESUMEN En Cuba, la gestión sostenible de las fuentes renovables de energía (FRE) muestra un lugar de privilegio desde las agendas políticas y públicas, con impactos concretos en las comunidades rurales de difícil acceso. La jerarquización de prioridades para la gestión de las FRE en el ámbito micro (local/comunitario) es un tema que adquiere relevancia en la medida en que actores y artefactos dialogan y se co-construyen en los procesos de toma de decisiones. La desconexión teórico-práctica, la desarticulación en los procesos de gestión local y la inadecuación de las Fuentes Renovables de Energía (FRE) constituyen factores determinantes del artículo orientado a: Identificar límites y oportunidades para el desarrollo participativo de las FRE en tres comunidades rurales de la región centro-occidental Cuba. La observación participante, el análisis de documentos, las encuestas, las entrevistas y las dinámicas participativas constituyen soportes metodológicos del estudio propuesto fundamentado en los principios de la educación popular. Sustentado en el análisis de tres comunidades y sus 152 familias, los resultados obtenidos permiten identificar tensiones, aciertos y lecciones múltiples en el empeño de modificar la matriz energética bajo un orden social inclusivo y emancipador.
