Introduction: the disease of the sinuses, particularly the maxillary sinuses is common and can cause symptoms that simulate dental disease. Objective: to determine the anatomical variations of maxillary sinus and its drainage structures involved in using computerized tomography cone beam (CTCN). Materials and methods: The study included descriptive reviews of CTCN in 48 patients. In all cases analyzed a systematic study of the maxillary sinuses and anatomical structures involved in their drainage path, in the coronal, sagittal and axial planes. Results and conclusions: Morphological changes were identified in the internal maxillary sinus septum, the Haller's cell, uncinate process and ethmoid bulla. It was noted the presence of internal septum and maxillary sinus Haller cells in 76.74% and 16.28% of individuals, respectively. The horizontal uncinate process was observed in 79.07% of the subjects and the vertical at 20.93%. In addition, bilateral ethmoid bullae were identified in 62.79% of the cases. The sinus anatomical variations occur mainly marked by prenatal and postnatal development, linked to the overall pneumatization neumocraneo and structures that inhibit or enable their development. Beam computed tomography cone provides images that allow visualization and proper evaluation of the maxillary sinus and osteomeatal complex.

Introducción: la enfermedad de los senos paranasales, particularmente la de los senos maxilares, es común y puede causar sintomatología que simula patología dental. Objetivo: determinar las variaciones anatómicas del seno maxilar y de las estructuras involucradas en su drenaje, utilizando tomografía computarizada de haz de cono (TCHC). Materiales y Métodos: el estudio incluyó los exámenes descriptivos de TCHC en 48 pacientes. En todos los casos analizados se realizó un estudio sistemático de los senos maxilares y de las estructuras anatómicas involucradas en su vía de drenaje, en los planos coronal, sagital y axial. Resultados y Conclusiones: Se identificaron variaciones morfológicas en el septo interno del seno maxilar, la celdilla de Haller, el proceso unciforme y la bulla etmoidal. Se observó presencia de septo interno del seno maxilar y de celdillas de Haller en el 76,74% y 16,28% de los individuos, respectivamente. El proceso unciforme horizontal se observó en el 79,07% de los sujetos y el vertical en el 20,93%. Además, se identificaron bullas etmoidales bilaterales en el 62,79% de los casos. Los senos paranasales presentan variaciones anatómicas marcadas fundamentalmente por su desarrollo prenatal y postnatal, ligados a la neumatización general del neumocráneo y a estructuras que inhiben o permiten su desarrollo. La tomografía computarizada de haz de cono proporciona imágenes que permiten una visualización y evaluación adecuada del seno maxilar y del complejo osteomeatal.

The location and configuration of the mandibular canal variations are relevant in different clinical procedures of the jaw. In this case series, a radiologist assessed the mandibular canal route identifying the presence and types of bifid canals. Four patients with type bifid mandibular retromolar canal and three subjects with type bifida anterior canal without convergence were observed. In one patient, bilateral bifid tooth foramina was found. Computed Tomography Cone Beam allows identification of preexisting conditions such as variations in the natural morphology of the mandibular canals, preventing effective and early neurological consequences arising from alveolar nerve injury.

La ubicación y configuración de las variaciones del canal mandibular son relevantes en diferentes procedimientos clínicos de la mandíbula. En esta serie de casos un radiólogo evaluó el recorrido del canal mandibular identificando la presencia y tipos de canales bífidos. Se observaron cuatro pacientes con canal mandibular bífido tipo retromolar y tres sujetos con canal bífido tipo anterior sin convergencia. En otro paciente se encontraron forámenes dentarios bífidos bilaterales. La Tomografía Computarizada de Haz de Cono, permite la identificación oportuna de condiciones preexistentes como variaciones en la morfología natural de los canales mandibulares, previniendo efectiva y precozmente las consecuencias neurológicas que se derivan de una lesión del nervio dentario inferior.

Estudou-se o efeito de aplicações do estimulante vegetal Stimulate e do fertilizante foliar Micro-Citrus no número de ramos, comprimento dos ramos, número e caracterização de frutos na colheita da laranjeira `Pêra' (Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck) sobre limoeiro `Cravo'. O experimento foi realizado em condições de campo, num Latossolo Vermelho-Escuro Álico, em Holambra (S.P.), sendo que em 13/02, 22/04 e 17/06/96 foram efetuadas pulverizações com Stimulate (1 L.ha-1, 2L. ha-1 e 4L. ha-1), Stimulate 2L. ha-1 + Micro-Citros e Micro-Citros, além do controle. Realizaram-se seis tratamentos distribuídos em dez árvores inteiramente casualizadas em um pomar uniforme com seis anos de idade. Foram demarcadas quatro ramificações em diagonal, nas quais efetuaram-se determinações biométricas em 22/04 e 23/09/96. Observou-se que Stimulate (1 L. ha-1) aumentou o número de ramos 69 dias após a primeira aplicação, além de incrementar o peso médio dos frutos por árvore, em relação ao controle, na colheita.

The effects of the plant growth regulator Stimulate and of fertilizer Microcitros applications were evaluated on sprout number, stem length and fruit set of Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck cv. `Pera' sweet orange trees, grafted on `Rangpur' lime, in a Typic Haplorthox soil, in Holambra, São Paulo State, Brazil. On February 13, April 22 and June 17, six year old `Pera' trees were sprayed with Stimulate (1,2 and 4L. ha-1), Stimulate 2L. ha-1 + Micro-Citrus, Micro-Citrus and control treatment. A completely randomized design was used with 10 replications and one tree per plot. Four ramifications were marked in each tree for the biometrical determinations (April 22 and September 23/96). Stimulate (1L.ha-1) increased shoot number 69 days after the 1st. application and increased the mean weight of fruits per tree.

A lagarta do cartucho do milho é um sério depredador da cultura do milho. Quase todos os anos, os danos ocasionados às plantas são grandes. Para se conhecer o efeito de alguns defensivos sobre a citada lagarta, realizou-se este trabalho experimental, instalado em Piracicaba, SP, a 09 de dezembro de l983. Os produtos foram aplicados com pulverizador costal, manual, de 20 litros de capacidade, provido de bico em leque Teejet 8002. Utilizaram-se 200 litros de água por hectare e 30 cm³ de "Extravon" (espalhante-adesivo) por 100 litros de calda. Os tratamentos foram nove: A - testemu nha; B - monocrotofós, 240 g; C - bifentrina, 10 g; D - triazofós, 200 g; E -carbamato UC 75118, 150 g; F - monocro tofós, 400 g; G - acefato, 375 g; H - cabamato UC 76724, 150 g; I - clofentezina, 250 g. As quantidades acima são de ingrediente ativo por hectare. Aos 02 dias da pulverização, os melhores foram o triazofós e a bifentrina. Aos 07 dias, nenhum produto apresentava boa eficiência.

The fall armyworm is one of the most important pest on corn fields. It causes enormous losses almost every year. In order to know the effects of some chemicals against the caterpillars, a study was conducted under field conditions in Piracicaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil, durin December of 1983. Plants were sprayed (200 liters per hectare) with a twenty liter costal manual sprayer. The treatments were nine: A - check (nothing was applied). B - moncrorophos, 240 g; C - biphenthrin 10 g; D - triazophos, 200 g; E - carbamate UC 75118, 150 g; F - monocrotophos, 400 g; G - acephate, 375 g; H - carbamate UC 76724:, 150 g; I - c lofentezine, 250 g. The quantities mentioned above are of active ingredient used per hectare. Two days after the spray, the best pesticides were triazophos and biphenthrin. After 07 days no one product had a good efficiency.
