Abstract The aim of this case study was to analyze student perception of the attributed importance and perceived mastery of the knowledge and competencies of the sports coach, in a Sport Sciences course in Brazil. The questionnaire by Quinaud et al. (2018) was administered to 192 students from the first to the fifth year of the program. Descriptive statistics were used and, after verifying the non-normal distribution, the Kruskal-Wallis test was carried out to compare the attributed importance and perceived mastery within the groups. In cases with significant differences, the Mann-Whitney U test, Dun-Bonferroni correction (p≤0.05) and effect size by partial Eta² (Cohen, 1973) were used. The results showed no significant differences in terms of the importance attributed to knowledge, and differences were observed in two competencies. In terms of perceived mastery, differences were found regarding all knowledge and competencies, especially among students in the first years with respect to those in the 3rd, 4th and 5th years. The different experiences throughout the course seem to help in the development of the students' knowledge and competencies. Considering that in Brazil a university degree is required to work as a coach, it is important that Physical Education and Sport courses focus on the development of specific knowledge and competencies specific to this profession.

Resumo O objetivo deste estudo de caso foi analisar as percepções de alunos(as) de um curso de Ciências do Esporte no Brasil quanto à importância atribuída e o domínio percebido sobre os conhecimentos e competências do(a) treinador(a) esportivo(a). Utilizamos o questionário de Quinaud et al. (2018), com 192 alunos(as) do primeiro ao quinto ano do curso. Fizemos o uso da estatística descritiva e, após constatarmos a distribuição não normal, recorremos ao teste Kruskal-Wallis para a comparação da importância atribuída e do domínio percebido dentro dos grupos. Nos casos com diferenças significativas utilizamos o teste U de Mann-Whitney, correção de Dun-Bonferroni (p≤0,05) e tamanho de efeito pelo Eta² parcial (Cohen, 1973). Não constatamos diferenças significativas acerca da importância atribuída aos conhecimentos e observamos diferenças em duas competências. Sobre o domínio percebido, constatamos diferenças significativas acerca de todos os conhecimentos e competências, principalmente entre alunos(as) dos primeiros anos comparados aos de 3º, 4º e 5º. Diferentes vivências ao longo do curso parecem auxiliar no desenvolvimento do domínio de conhecimentos e competências dos(as) alunos(as). Considerando que no Brasil há a obrigatoriedade do diploma de graduação para atuar como treinador(a), torna-se importante que os cursos de Educação Física e Esporte prezem pelo desenvolvimento de conhecimentos e competências específicos desta profissão.

Abstract Aim: The purpose of this study was to conduct an integrative review aiming to critically analyze the concept of sport development and the different variables that influence this process. Methods: We restricted the search to scientific journals in the area of sports science that published studies related to the social sciences and are indexed in the Scientific Journal Rankings (SJR). In total, 23 scientific journals were analyzed and the final sample of this review consisted of 65 articles. Results: Our findings highlighted that sport development is immersed in specific social, political, and economic factors that influence the extent to which different stakeholders can implement strategies and provide resources to improve participation and performance in sports. In addition to the quantitative aspect, researchers indicate the need for specific strategies that also enable the participation of women, people with disabilities, and other groups that historically have faced constraints to participate in sports. Despite the interesting criteria used to evaluate the sport development, they should be used with caution because most studies were conducted in English-speaking countries reflecting a tendency to report features only of the Western culture. Conclusion: The different stakeholders, strategies, and resources found in this review reinforce that there is no single way to develop sports, as different possibilities may be used according to the characteristics of each context. It also indicates the need to move research to unexplored fields and socio-cultural contexts to increase the reach that sport-based programs may have.

Abstract Aim: The sports facilities development and use optimization has been one of the main objectives of sports organizations. To understand how the management is performed, the knowledge about the manager and his function is crucial and may aid to improve facilities management and impact service quality. This study aimed to analyze the functional profile of sport facilities managers and verify their managerial behavior. Methods: A survey was conducted, 76 managers of public and non-profit sports facilities of São Paulo answering a questionnaire regarding their personal data and tasks performed in five related areas (Economic-Administrative Management, Human Resources Management, Maintenance, Supply and Exploration, and Marketing and Promotion). The data was analyzed through an Exploratory Factorial Analysis using the principal component method. Results: The low participation of managers in tasks related to the Economic-Administrative Management area was identified. The manager's other areas of activity had their tasks divided into the following factors: Human Resources (Work organization; Communication and Training); Maintenance (Maintenance and monitoring; Expansion, Construction, and Renovation); Supply and Exploration (Activities Organization; Activity Planning for Groups; Assignment and organization of use); Marketing (Communication, supply and demand analysis; Operation and occupation analysis). Conclusion: There is no standard managerial behavior of sport facilities managers since their performance is not focused on the proactive or non-proactive characteristic of the task, but rather on the field that the organization and/or manager deems necessary to be planned and developed.

RESUMO O objetivo do estudo foi analisar o projeto de judô Kimono de Ouro nos anos de 2011 a 2017, a partir de recursos fomentados pela Lei de Incentivo ao Esporte e da aplicação do modelo de políticas nacionais de esporte de rendimento. A metodologia de abordagem qualitativa e descritiva foi delineada pela análise documental e pelo modelo de Sports Policy Factors Leading to International Sporting Success. Na perspectiva do rendimento esportivo, os resultados revelaram que a Lei de Incentivo ao Esporte potencializou o desenvolvimento do projeto ao evidenciar correlações significativas com o Sports Policy Factors Leading to International Sporting Success. Conclui-se que a captação de recursos, a gestão financeira e a qualificação da equipe multiprofissional foram fundamentais para a evolução do desempenho esportivo.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to analyze the Golden Kimono [Kimono de Ouro] judo project from 2011 to 2017, based on resources provided by the Sports Incentive Law and on the application of a model for national policies on high-performance sports. The qualitative and descriptive approach methodology was designed through a documentary analysis and the Sports Policy Factors Leading to International Sporting Success model. From the perspective of sport performance, the results revealed that the Sports Incentive Law boosted the development of the project by evidencing significant correlations with said model. It is concluded that fundraising, financial management and the qualification of the multidisciplinary team were key for the evolution of sport performance.

RESUMO Este trabalho teve como objetivo apresentar uma investigação-ação de dois profissionais de educação física, treinadores de judô, que atuaram na 29ª Summer Universíade de Taipei em 2017. A investigação-ação pode ser definida como um conjunto de processos que envolvem ações e suas posteriores compreensões. As análises apontaram que os resultados esportivos podem ser atingidos com mais eficácia a partir de uma efetiva aplicação do conhecimento científico, seja em situações de diagnóstico dos atletas, logística do evento, ações pré-competitivas e ações durante o evento esportivo. Espera-se com este artigo que, pelo menos no judô, inicie-se um debate para promover o desenvolvimento de procedimentos profissionais para treinadores esportivos a partir de situações reflexivas e aplicadas.

ABSTRACT This work aimed to present an action-research of two Physical Education professionals, judo coaches, at the 29th Summer Universiade of Taipei in 2017. The action-research can be defined as a set of processes involving actions and their subsequent understandings. The analysis showed that sporting performance can be achieved more effectively from an effective application of scientific knowledge, whether in athletes’ diagnostics, logistics, pre-competitive and competitive actions. It is hoped with this article that, at least in judo, a debate will begin to promote the development of professional procedures for sport coaches from reflexive and applied situations

RESUMEN Este artículo tuvo como objetivo presentar una investigación de acción de dos profesionales de educación física, entrenadores de judo, en la 29th Summer Universiade de Taipei en 2017. La investigación de acción puede definirse como un conjunto de procesos que conlleva acciones y su posterior comprensión. Los análisis mostraron que los resultados deportivos pueden alcanzarse con más eficacia a partir de una aplicación efectiva del conocimiento científico, sea en situaciones de diagnóstico de los atletas, logística del evento, acciones precompetitivas y acciones durante el evento deportivo. Con este artículo se espera que, al menos en el judo, se inicie un debate para promover el desarrollo de procedimientos profesionales para entrenadores deportivos a partir de situaciones reflexivas y aplicadas.

Abstract Aims: This paper sought to evaluate the infrastructure of public swimming pools in a countryside municipality of the state of São Paulo and to present the Geographic Information System (GIS) as a tool capable of assisting in the management of sports facilities and programs. Methods: This is a descriptive study since it intends to expose the characteristics of a certain context. First, documentary research was performed to map the facilities and their respective projects. After that, a field survey was conducted seeking to evaluate the infrastructure of public pools and their surroundings through observation. Lastly, using georeferencing software, the population, and socioeconomic data around these pools were obtained and analyzed. Results: It was identified ten public swimming pools, and in seven the offer of swimming projects was foreseen. The infrastructure of the pools is mainly unsatisfactory, making necessary the improvement of the installation itself and in its surroundings. According to the results of the GIS, each pool has its specific public target concerning the characteristics of the profile of the residents surrounding these facilities. Conclusion: Information regarding the public profile around sports facilities generated from a tool such as GIS showed it is possible to determine which sports projects should be prioritized in each facility, leading to improvement in the management of sports-related public policies.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this inventory was to characterize the profile of sports managers from cities belonging to an intermunicipal consortium in the state of São Paulo and to know their view on the objectives of the sport in the city. A qualitative research was carried out, with the participation of 12 sports managers belonging to the union of the municipalities of Media Sorocabana, in São Paulo. Semi-structured, recorded and audio and transcribed interviews were performed. For the analysis of these interviews, the Content Analysis technique was used. It was possible to verify that the profile of the municipal sports managers is similar to that identified in other studies. Also it is verified the existence of a culture that disregards the professional skills and abilities for the sport management, inherent to the sport organizations. In their interviews, managers claim that sport in their cities aims to contribute to social inclusion, improve health and quality of life, identify new talent for sports and democratize access to sports practices. We realize that some of the proposed objectives cannot be achieved only with the practice of sports, but that they depend on the elaboration of a public policy that integrates different municipal secretariats.

RESUMO O presente estudo teve como objetivos caracterizar o perfil dos gestores municipais de esporte de cidades pertencentes a um consórcio intermunicipal no estado de São Paulo e conhecer seu olhar sobre os objetivos do esporte no município. Foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa, com a participação de 12 gestores de esporte pertencentes à união dos municípios da Média Sorocabana do Estado de São Paulo (uMMES). Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas, gravadas e áudio e transcritas. Para análise dessas entrevistas foi utilizada a técnica de Análise de Conteúdo. Foi possível verificar que o perfil dos gestores esportivos municipais se assemelha ao identificado em outros estudos realizados. Também se constata a existência de uma cultura que desconsidera as competências e habilidades necessárias para o gerenciamento esportivo inerente às organizações esportivas. Em suas entrevistas, os gestores declaram que o esporte em seus municípios tem como objetivos contribuir para a inclusão social, melhorar a saúde e a qualidade de vida dos praticantes, identificar novos talentos para o esporte e democratizar o acesso às práticas esportivas. Percebemos que parte dos objetivos propostos não podem ser atingidos apenas com a prática do esporte, mas que dependem da elaboração de uma política pública que integre diferentes secretarias municipais..

RESUMEN El presente estudio tuvo como objetivos caracterizar el perfil de los gestores del deporte, en ciudades que constituyen un consorcio intermunicipal de São Paulo y conocer su mirada sobre los objetivos del deporte en la ciudad. Se realizó una investigación cualitativa, con la participación de 12 gestores de deporte pertenecientes a la unión de los municipios de la Media Sorocabana del Estado de São Paulo (uMMES). Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas, grabadas y audio y transcritas. Para el análisis de estas entrevistas se utilizó la técnica de Análisis de Contenido. Fue posible verificar que el perfil de los gestores deportivos municipales se asemeja al identificado en otros estudios realizados. También se constata la existencia de una cultura que desconsidera las competencias y habilidades necesarias para el manejo deportivo inherente a las organizaciones deportivas. En sus entrevistas, los gestores declaran que el deporte tiene como objetivos contribuir a la inclusión social, mejorar la salud y la calidad de vida de los practicantes, identificar nuevos talentos para el deporte y democratizar el acceso a las prácticas deportivas. Se percibe que parte de los objetivos propuestos no pueden ser alcanzados sólo con la práctica del deporte, sino que dependen de la elaboración de una política pública que integre diferentes secretarías municipales.

Resumo Objetiva-se analisar a história do judô recifense e suas dimensões educacionais e civilizatórias por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo das falas de antigos senseis de judô em Recife. Constatou-se que o judô possibilita a aprendizagem, formação para a vida constituída por regras e a formação ética/moral diante da sociedade, através de fatores como disciplina e hierarquia. As entrevistas indicam os ganhos do judô como modalidade esportiva e reconhece-se que o judô esportivizado atual teve perdas. Conclui-se que, dentre as modalidades esportivas, o judô ainda se diferencia por conta de suas características e especificidades filosóficas preconizadas por Jigoro Kano e sua incidência sobre a educação.

Abstract This article aims to analyze the history of judo in Recife and its educational and civilizational dimensions by conducting content analysis about the speeches of old judo ‘senseis’ in that city. Judo was found to enable learning and education for life under ethical/moral rules and education of society through factors such as discipline and hierarchy. Interviews point to judo’s gains as a sport and recognize that the current sport-oriented judo has suffered losses. Among sports, judo is still distinguished by its characteristics and philosophical peculiarities advocated by Jigoro Kano and its influence on education.

Resumen El objetivo es analizar la historia del Judo de Recife y sus dimensiones educativas y civilizatorias a través de la técnica de análisis de contenido de los discursos de antiguos senseis de Judo en Recife. Se constató que el Judo posibilita el aprendizaje, la formación para la vida constituida por reglas y la formación ética/moral frente a la sociedad, a través de factores como disciplina y jerarquía. Las entrevistas mostraron los méritos del Judo como modalidad deportiva y reconocieron que el Judo deportivo actual tuvo pérdidas. Se concluye que, entre las modalidades deportivas, el Judo todavía se destaca, debido a sus características y especificidades filosóficas, preconizadas por Jigoro Kano, y por su incidencia sobre la educación.

Resumo Este artigo teve por objetivo verificar a existência de um sistema de desenvolvimento de judocas e nadadores brasileiros talentosos, assim como descrever como ocorre o mesmo na prática, segundo a opinião dos técnicos dessas modalidades. Foi realizada uma pesquisa exploratória e descritiva, por meio da realização de entrevistas com 18 técnicos de alto rendimento, sendo 11 de natação e sete de judô. Os técnicos participantes responderam a 10 perguntas semiestruturadas, relacionadas com o desenvolvimento de talento esportivo no Brasil. Os resultados foram analisados por meio do método do “Discurso do Sujeito Coletivo” DSC. Segundo 77% dos técnicos, não existe uma diretriz nacional para o desenvolvimento de talentos para as duas modalidades estudadas, e 66% dos entrevistados afirmaram que o desenvolvimento dos atletas ocorre por meio de cada entidade esportiva. De acordo com a opinião dos técnicos, conclui-se que as entidades nacionais de administração do esporte não elaboram diretrizes nacionais para o judô e a natação no Brasil, sendo as entidades de prática esportiva - tais como Clubes, Associações e Entidades Municipais de Prática Esportiva - as responsáveis pelo desenvolvimento dos atletas em ambas as modalidades.

Abstract This paper purported to establish the existence of a system for the development of talented Brazilian athletes judo and swimmers, as well as to describe how coaches in both sports see this process occurring in practical terms. An exploratory and descriptive research was conducted by means of interviews with 18 high-performance coaches (11 swimming coaches and 7 judo coaches). The participating coaches answered to 10 semi-structured questions concerning the development of sports talents in Brazil. The polled results were analyzed through the “Discourse of the Collective Subject” (DCS) method. According to 77% of those coaches, there is no established national guidelines for the development of talents in either one of these sports categories, and 66% of the interviewed stated that the development of the athletes falls entirely to each sporting association they belong with. The opinions of the interviewed coaches indicate that the government offi ces in charge of sports administration produce no comprehensible national guidelines for judo and swimming in Brazil, which leaves to institutions such as Sports Clubs, Associations and Municipal Sports Authorities the full responsibility for the development of athletes in both categories.

Programas de detecção e seleção de talentos esportivos existem em diferentes países. Independente do contexto, a existência destes programas visa a formação de atletas que possuam níveis internacionais de desempenho. Em termos de avaliação, os programas de talentos esportivos geralmente possuem como critério principal os resultados finais alcançados, o que leva a questionamentos sobre as ações realizadas durante os processos realizados. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar a viabilidade da aplicação do questionário elaborado para avaliar a qualidade dos processos de detecção e seleção de talentos esportivos, proposto por Rütten, Ziemainz e Röger (2005). Através de Análise Fatorial Exploratória os resultados validam a utilização do modelo para avaliação dos processos de detecção e seleção de talentos esportivos no Brasil. Futuros estudos poderão se utilizar do modelo e questionário utilizados neste estudo e também comparar a realidade de outros países com a realidade brasileira.

Detection and selection programs of sporting talent exist in different countries. Regardless the context, the existence of such programs aimed the develop of athletes who will have international levels of performance. In terms of evaluation, the sport talent programs usually have as the main criterion the final results, which leads questions about the actions performed during the process performed. The aim of this study was to verify the viability of the survey designed to assess the quality of procedures for detection and selection of sports talents, proposed by Rütten, Ziemainz e Röger (2005).Through Exploratory Factor Analysis results validate the use of the model for evaluation of the procedures for detection and selection of sports talents in Brazil. Future studies may be used the model and survey used in this study and also compare the reality of other countries with the Brazilian reality.
