Resumo Este estudo buscou compreender, sob a perspectiva de adolescentes, os diálogos sobre sexualidade no contexto familiar. Desenvolveu-se um estudo descritivo-exploratório qualitativo ancorado no referencial dialógico de Paulo Freire. Os dados foram coletados por questionário on-line, pela técnica snowball , com 13 adolescentes de 14 a 19 anos de um município sul-brasileiro. Com as respostas, procedeu-se à construção de corpus textuais para a análise lexicográfica. As discussões sobre sexualidade no contexto familiar ocorreram de forma dialógica e antidialógica. A dialogicidade relacionou-se a sentimentos de confiança e afinidade, sobretudo com a mãe, enquanto a antidialogicidade se atrelou a situações de preconceito e conservadorismo mais evidentes no pai. Apreendeu-se que o contexto dos diálogos sobre sexualidade no ambiente familiar é influenciado por aspectos afetivos, culturais, sociais e religiosos.

Resumen El objetivo de este estudio fue comprender, desde la perspectiva de adolescentes, los diálogos sobre sexualidad en el contexto familiar. Se desarrolló un estudio descriptivo-exploratorio cualitativo, anclado en el referencial de Paulo Freire. Los datos se colectaron utilizando un cuestionario on-line, mediante la técnica snowball , con 13 adolescentes de 14 a 19 años de un municipio del sur de Brasil. Con las respuestas, se procedió a la construcción de corpus textuales para el análisis lexicográfico. Las discusiones sobre sexualidad en el contexto familiar tuvieron lugar de forma dialógica y antidialógica. La dialogicidad se relacionó con sentimientos de confianza y afinidad, sobre todo con la madre, mientras que la antidialogicidad se vinculó a situaciones de prejuicio y conservadurismo, más evidentes en el padre. Se captó que el contexto de los diálogos sobre sexualidad en el ambiente familiar sufre influencia de aspectos afectivos, culturales, sociales y religiosos.

Abstract The aim of this study was to understand family conversations about sexuality from the perspective of adolescents. We conducted an exploratory-descriptive qualitative study anchored in Paulo Freire’s dialogical framework. The data were collected using an on-line questionnaire completed by 13 adolescents aged 14-19 years living in a municipality in the south of Brazil selected using snowball sampling. A lexicographic analysis was performed of the text corpus created from the questionnaire answers. Family discussions about sexuality were dialogical and anti-dialogical. Dialogicality was related to feelings of trust and affinity, above all with mothers, while anti-dialogicality was bound to prejudice and conservatism, which was more evident in fathers. The findings show that the context of family discussions about sexuality is influenced by affective, cultural, social, and religious aspects.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar a cobertura das vacinas tríplice viral e contra poliomielite, a tendência temporal e a dependência espacial em crianças de até um ano no Brasil, entre 2011 e 2021. Métodos: Estudo ecológico com dados secundários das taxas de cobertura vacinal (CV), disponibilizadas pelo Sistema de Informação do Programa Nacional de Imunização. A análise de tendência ocorreu pelo método joinpoint, segundo regiões geográficas, estimando a variação percentual anual (APC) e seu respectivo intervalo de confiança (IC95%). Foram construídos mapas coropléticos de distribuição por região de saúde e, posteriormente, verificou-se a dependência espacial pela estatística de Moran. Resultados: Entre 2011 e 2021, as coberturas vacinais apresentaram queda no Brasil, tanto para tríplice viral (APC: −6,4%; IC95%: −9,0; −3,8) quanto para poliomielite (APC: −4,5%; IC95% −5,5; −3,6). Houve declínio da cobertura de ambas as vacinas em todas as regiões geográficas ao longo dos anos de estudo, exceto no Sul e no Centro-Oeste para a vacina tríplice viral. Desde 2015, poucas regionais de saúde do país atingiram a CV adequada (≥95 a <120%). As regiões sanitárias do Norte e do Nordeste apresentaram clusters do tipo baixo-baixo na análise univariada para ambos os imunobiológicos. Conclusão: É premente considerar estudos como este para o planejamento de estratégias mais eficazes à imunização de crianças, sobretudo em áreas de maior queda. Desse modo, pode-se romper as barreiras do acesso à imunização, dada a heterogeneidade brasileira, e ampliar o acesso a informações fidedignas que aumentem a confiança na eficácia vacinal.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the coverage of MMR and polio vaccines, the temporal trend and spatial dependence, in children up to one year of age in Brazil, between 2011 and 2021. Methods: Ecological study with secondary data on vaccination coverage rates, made available by the National Immunization Program Information System. Trend analysis was carried out using the joinpoint method, according to geographic regions, estimating the annual percentage change (APC) and its respective confidence interval (95%CI). Choropleth maps of distribution by health region were constructed and, subsequently, the spatial dependence was verified using Moran's statistics. Results: Between 2011 and 2021, vaccination coverage declined in Brazil, both for MMR (APC: −6.4%; 95%CI −9.0; −3.8) and for poliomyelitis (APC: −4. 5%; 95%CI −5.5; −3.6). There was a decline in coverage of both vaccines in all geographic regions over the years of the study, except in the South and Midwest for the MMR vaccine. Since 2015, few health regions in the country have achieved adequate vaccination coverage (≥95.0% to <120.0%). The North and Northeast health regions showed low-low clusters in the univariate analysis for both immunobiological. Conclusions: It is urgent to consider studies like this one for the planning of more effective strategies for immunizing children, especially in areas with higher falls. In this way, barriers to access to immunization can be broken, given Brazil's heterogeneity, and access to reliable information that increases confidence in vaccine efficacy can be expanded.

Abstract Introduction The academic environment can negatively impact the mental health of undergraduate students, particularly in the context of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. This study aimed to describe the methodological and operational aspects of a study of the health and well-being of undergraduate students: the Study on the Health and Wellness of Undergraduate Students (SABES-Grad) project. Method This was a nationwide cross-sectional study divided across two data collection strategies: a single-center, on-site data collection carried out in 2019 at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG) and a multicenter, multilevel, online data collection carried out in 2020/2021 at FURG, the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), the Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso (UFMT), the Universidade do Estado do Amazonas (UEA), and the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (UFRPE). The main outcomes of interest were depressive symptoms, generalized anxiety, and suicide risk. Results A total of 996 students participated in the 2019 data collection (63.8% female; median age of 22 years; response rate of 85.2%) and 5,720 students participated in the 2020/2021 collection (66.7% female; median age of 22 years; response rate of 84.3%). Significant variations in socioeconomic and demographic profiles were observed between the different universities. Approximately one-third of the sample had been tested for Covid-19 in 2020/2021, 7.8% of whom had tested positive. Conclusion The SABES-Grad project was the result of collaborative work between several actors from public universities in Brazil. Several aspects of the preparation and execution of this research are discussed in terms of its originality and relevance. Barriers and limitations and strategies adopted to overcome them are also presented.

BACKGROUND Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne virus that has been causing large outbreaks in the Americas since 2014. In Brazil, Asian-Caribbean (AC) and East-Central-South-African (ECSA) genotypes have been detected and lead to large outbreaks in several Brazilian states. In Rio Grande do Sul (RS), the southernmost state of Brazil, the first cases were reported in 2016. OBJECTIVES AND METHODS We employed genome sequencing and epidemiological investigation to characterise the Chikungunya fever (CHIKF) burden in RS between 2017-2021. FINDINGS We detected an increasing CHIKF burden linked to travel associated introductions and communitary transmission of distinct lineages of the ECSA genotype during this period. MAIN CONCLUSIONS Until 2020, CHIKV introductions were most travel associated and transmission was limited. Then, in 2021, the largest outbreak occurred in the state associated with the introduction of a new ECSA lineage. CHIKV outbreaks are likely to occur in the near future due to abundant competent vectors and a susceptible population, exposing more than 11 million inhabitants to an increasing infection risk.

Resumo Objetivo Avaliar a qualidade de vida dos pacientes em uso do fixador externo do tipo Ilizarov para tratamento de fraturas complexas e de suas sequelas Método Trata-se de um estudo observacional e transversal, em que foi aplicado o questionário 36-item short form survey (SF-36) (traduzido para a língua portuguesa) durante as consultas ambulatoriais em 2 períodos, nos meses de julho de 2018 e janeiro de 2019. Os pacientes que participaram do estudo realizaram seus procedimentos cirúrgicos no período de janeiro a junho de 2018. Resultados Foram avaliados 36 pacientes em uso de fixador externo do tipo Ilizarov. Foi observado predomínio do sexo masculino e idade média de 37,9 anos. As fraturas de ossos da perna e suas complicações representaram metade da amostra. Foi observada melhora na capacidade funcional e nos aspectos emocionais dos pacientes ao longo do tratamento. Conclusão O uso do fixador externo circular constitui um método importante e eficaz para o tratamento cirúrgico de fraturas complexas e de suas sequelas. Este trabalho permitiu concluir que, após o tratamento, os pacientes alcançaram retorno funcional às atividades diárias com adequada qualidade de vida.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the quality of life of patients using an Ilizarov type external fixator for the treatment of complicated fractures and their sequelae. Method This is an observational and cross-sectional study, in which the 36-item short form survey (SF-36) questionnaire (translated into Portuguese) was applied during outpatient consultations in 2 periods, in the months of July 2018 and January 2019. The patients who participated in the study underwent their surgical procedures between January and June 2018. Results We evaluated 36 patients using an external Ilizarov fixator. We observed a predominance of male patients, with a mean age of 37.9 years. Fractures of leg bones and their complications represented half of the sample. Improvement in functional capacity and emotional aspects of the patients was observed throughout the treatment. Conclusion The use of the circular external fixator is an important and effective method for the surgical treatment of complex fractures and their sequelae. This study allowed us to conclude that, after treatment, patients achieved functional return to daily activities with adequate quality of life.

Abstract The gametogenesis and reproduction of S. elegans from the São Francisco River at Três Marias, Minas Gerais, were analyzed in this study. Steindachrina elegans is a species abundant in the São Francisco River basin and an important fish in the food chain. The size at first gonadal maturation (indicated by the total length of the shortest spermatid male and spawned female) was 10.5 cm and 15.0 cm, respectively. Reproduction occurred more frequently from September to April. This period had high water temperature values. A high frequency of females was observed at the mature and spawned stages and height gonadosomatic index (GSI). Meanwhile, in males, the reproductive peak was from November to February. The long spawning period and the histological characteristics of the spawned ovaries that contained oocytes at different stages of development along with post-ovulatory and atretic oocytes indicates that the spawning of S. elegans is of the partial type.

RESUMO Objetivo Verificar a associação entre round multiprofissional com uso de checklist e práticas de segurança do paciente por profissionais de saúde de uma unidade de terapia intensiva. Método Estudo de método misto, delineado pela abordagem sequencial explanatória, realizado em um hospital do sul do Brasil. Os dados quantitativos foram analisados por meio de regressão de Poisson e os dados qualitativos, pela análise de conteúdo. Fez-se a análise integrada por meio da combinação explicada/conectada. Resultados No período pós-implementação dos rounds com uso sistemático de checklist houve melhora significativa da profilaxia de tromboembolia venosa, sedação leve, redução dos dias de uso de ventilação mecânica, cateter venoso central e de sonda vesical de demora. Conclusão O round multiprofissional com uso sistemático de checklist, associado com a melhoria nas práticas de segurança do paciente, foi considerado como uma estratégia que assegura melhores cuidados em terapia intensiva e favorece a satisfação no trabalho.

ABSTRACT Objective To verify the association between a multiprofessional round with the use of checklists and patient safety practices by health professionals in an intensive care unit. Method Mixed-method study, delineated by the sequential explanatory approach, conducted in a hospital in southern Brazil. Quantitative data were analyzed using Poisson regression, and qualitative data, using content analysis. The integrated analysis was performed through the explained/connected combination. Results In the post-implementation period of the rounds with systematic use of the checklist, there was a significant improvement in the prophylaxis of venous thromboembolism, light sedation, reduction in the days of use of mechanical ventilation, central venous catheter and indwelling urinary catheter. Conclusion The multiprofessional round with the systematic use of checklist, associated with the improvement in patient safety practices, was considered as a strategy that ensures better care in intensive care and favors job satisfaction.

RESUMEN Objetivo Verificar la asociación entre una ronda multiprofesional con el uso de listas de verificación y prácticas de seguridad del paciente por profesionales de la salud en una unidad de cuidados intensivos. Método Estudio de método mixto, delineado por el enfoque explicativo secuencial, realizado en un hospital del sur de Brasil. Los datos cuantitativos se analizaron mediante regresión de Poisson, y los datos cualitativos, mediante análisis de contenido. El análisis integrado se realizo através de la combinación explicada/conectada. Resultados En el período de post-implementación de las rondas con uso sistemático del checklist, hubo una mejora significativa en la profilaxis del tromboembolismo venoso, sedación leve, reducción de los días de uso de ventilación mecánica, catéter venoso central y catéter urinario permanente. Conclusión La ronda multiprofesional con el uso sistemático de la lista de verificación, asociada a la mejora en las prácticas de seguridad del paciente, fue considerada como una estrategia que asegura una mejor atención en cuidados intensivos y favorece la satisfacción laboral.

Resumo Introdução A Pneumonia Associada à Ventilação Mecânica é uma infecção relacionada à assistência à saúde que predomina em unidades de terapia intensiva e que compromete a segurança do paciente. Objetivo Identificar na literatura científica os efeitos do uso de Bundles na prevenção da Pneumonia Associada à Ventilação Mecânica em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva. Método Revisão integrativa realizada com estudos disponibilizados nas bases dados online: Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cocrhane , Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Scientific Electronic Library Online e Scopus. A busca dos estudos nas bases de dados se deu no período de dois de junho a 18 de julho de 2018, no idioma inglês ou português, sem limite de tempo de publicação, utilizando os termos dos DeCS e MeSH. O recrutamento foi realizado por dois pesquisadores independentes. Dos artigos selecionados, extraíram-se as informações: ano, país de origem, objetivo(s), grau de recomendação científica e tipo de estudo, intervenção, conformidade do uso do Bundle , principais resultados e conclusões. Resultados Dentre as 20 publicações analisadas, 13 eram de diferentes países e a maioria dos estudos (n=18) constata que o uso de Blundes reduziu significativamente a taxa de Pneumonia Associada à Ventilação Mecânica, com impacto na redução da mortalidade, no tempo de internação e nos custos hospitalares. Os principais componentes de escolha para composição do pacote de cuidado foram à elevação da cabeceira e o protocolo de higiene oral. Conclusão Apesar de existir espaço para estudos com maior grau de recomendação, o rol de evidências de muitos países indica que o uso de Bundles tem efeito positivo na prevenção da pneumonia associada a ventilação mecânica e também na melhoria de desempenho institucional, pela redução de custos hospitalares.

Resumen Introducción La neumonía asociada a la ventilación mecánica es una infección relacionada con el cuidado de la salud que predomina en las unidades de cuidados intensivos y que compromete la seguridad del paciente. Objetivo Identificar en la literatura científica los efectos del uso de medidas para la prevención de la neumonía asociada a ventilación mecánica en Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos. Materiales y métodos Se llevó a cabo una revisión integrativa con los estudios disponibles en las bases de datos en línea Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Biblioteca Cochrane, Literatura Latinoamericana y del Caribe en Ciencias de la Salud, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Scientific Electronic Library Online y Scopus. La búsqueda de artículos se realizó en estas bases de datos entre el 2 de junio y el 18 de julio de 2018 en inglés y portugués sin límite de tiempo de publicación a través de los descriptores DeCS y MeSH. Dos investigadores independientes llevaron a cabo el proceso de selección de artículos, de los que se extrajo la información relacionada con el año, país de origen, objetivo(s), grado de recomendación científica y tipo de estudio, intervención, conformidad del uso de medidas de prevención, principales resultados y conclusiones. Resultados De las 20 publicaciones analizadas, 13 eran de diferentes países y en la mayoría de los estudios (n=18) se encontró que el uso de las medidas preventivas redujo significativamente la incidencia de neumonía asociada a ventilación mecánica, con un impacto en la reducción de la mortalidad, la duración de la estancia y costos hospitalarios. Los principales componentes elegidos para armar el paquete de medidas de prevención fueron la elevación de la cabeza y el protocolo de higiene bucodental. Conclusión Aunque existe la posibilidad de realizar estudios con un mayor grado de recomendación, los datos obtenidos en varios países revelan que el uso de las medidas de prevención tiene un efecto positivo en la neumonía asociada a la ventilación, así como en la mejora del desempeño a nivel institucional, ya que reduce los costos hospitalarios.

Abstract Introduction The ventilator-associated pneumonia is an infection related to health care that predominates in intensive care units and compromises patient safety. Objective To identify the effects of care bundles in preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Materials and Methods An integrative literature review was conducted based on the studies available in the online databases Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Library, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Scientific Electronic Library Online and Scopus. Articles were selected from these databases between June 2 and July 18, 2018 in English and Portuguese without any publication time limit using DeCS and MeSh descriptors. Two independent researchers carried out the article selection process, from which information related to publication year, country of origin, objective(s), degree of scientific recommendation and type of study, intervention, compliance with the use of care bundles, main results and conclusions was collected. Results A total of 13 out of 20 publications analyzed were from different countries and in most studies (n=18) the use of care bundles was found to significantly reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia, resulting in a reduction in mortality, length of hospital stay and costs. The main components chosen to put together care bundles included head of bed elevation and oral care. Conclusion Although studies with a higher degree of recommendation are possible, data from several countries suggest that the use of care bundles had a positive effect on ventilator-associated pneumonia, as well as on improving institutional performance by reducing health care costs.

Abstract INTRODUCTION: Electron microscopy (EM) is a rapid and effective tool that can be used to create images of a whole spectrum of virus-host interactions and, as such, has long been used in the discovery and description of viral mechanisms. METHODS: Electron microscopy was used to evaluate the pulmonary pathologies of postmortem lung sections from three patients who died from infection with SARS-associated coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a new member of the Coronaviridae family. RESULTS: Diffuse alveolar damage (DAD) was predominant in all three patients. The early exudative stage was characterized principally by edema and extravasation of red blood cells into the alveolar space with injury to the alveolar epithelial cells; this was followed by detachment, apoptosis, and necrosis of type I and II pneumocytes. The capillaries exhibited congestion, exposure of the basement membrane from denuded endothelial cells, platelet adhesion, fibrin thrombi, and rupture of the capillary walls. The proliferative stage was characterized by pronounced proliferation of type II alveolar pneumocytes and multinucleated giant cells. The cytopathic effect of SARS-CoV-2 was observed both in degenerated type II pneumocytes and freely circulating in the alveoli, with components from virions, macrophages, lymphocytes, and cellular debris. CONCLUSIONS: Viral particles consistent with the characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 were observed mainly in degenerated pneumocytes, in the endothelium, or freely circulating in the alveoli. In the final stage of illness, the alveolar spaces were replaced by fibrosis.

OBJECTIVES: As patients recovering from the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) present with physical, respiratory, cognitive, nutritional, and swallowing-related impairments and mental health complications, their rehabilitation needs are complex. This study aimed to describe the demographic, clinical, and functional status after the discharge of COVID-19 survivors who underwent intensive multidisciplinary inpatient rehabilitation at the Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Institute of the University of Sao Paulo Medical School General Hospital and Lucy Montoro Rehabilitation Institute. We determined the most important factors related to the length of inpatient rehabilitation treatment and present the functional outcomes. METHODS: This was a retrospective study based on electronic medical records. In addition to the severity of COVID-19 and length of hospital stay for the management of COVID-19 and comorbidities, we collected sociodemographic data including age, sex, height, and weight. Functional assessments were performed using the Functional Independence Measure (FIM); Short Physical Performance Battery; Montreal Cognitive Assessment; Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale; Revised Impact of Events Scale; bioelectrical impedance; Functional Oral Intake Scale; oropharyngeal dysphagia classification; and nutritional assessment. RESULTS: There was a significant improvement in FIM before and after inpatient rehabilitation treatment (p<0.0001). Muscle strength and walking capacity were significantly improved (p<0.01). The most important factors related to the length of inpatient rehabilitation treatment were improvement in FIM scores (Spearman’s r=0.71) and gain in lean mass (Spearman’s r=0.79). CONCLUSIONS: Rehabilitation of patients after COVID-19 recovery improves their functional status and should be considered in the post-acute phase for selected patients with COVID-19.

Resumo Neste estudo, determinamos os principais parâmetros reprodutivos do piau gordura, Leporinus piau, em duas seções da bacia do rio São Francisco. Entre maio de 2015 e abril de 2016, um total de 573 espécimes foram capturados de um ambiente lêntico (seção 1), o reservatório de Três Marias (RTM), e um ambiente lótico (seção 2), à jusante da RTM na confluência do rio São Francisco (RSF) com o rio Abaeté. A análise da atividade reprodutiva mostrou que L. piau se reproduz nas duas seções, mas fêmeas e machos da seção 1 apresentaram maiores valores de comprimento total, peso corporal, fator de condição de Fulton e índice gonadossomático em comparação com a seção 2. O dimorfismo sexual foi evidente na espécie com as fêmeas sendo maiores do que os machos. Além disso, os machos atingiram a primeira maturação gonadal em tamanho menor do que as fêmeas. O pico do estágio de maturação/maduro foi observado em novembro/abril para fêmeas e machos na seção 1 e em novembro/dezembro na seção 2, coincidindo com altas temperaturas e precipitação na região. Em ambas as seções do rio, L. piau apresentou características típicas de desova parcelada com período de desova prolongada e reproduz preferencialmente em ambientes lênticos.

Abstract In this study, we determined the main reproductive parameters of piau gordura, Leporinus piau, in two sections of the São Francisco River basin. Between May 2015 and April 2016, a total of 573 specimens were captured from a lentic environment (section 1), the Três Marias Reservoir (TMR), and a lotic environment (section 2), downstream of the TMR at the confluence of the São Francisco River (SFR) with the Abaeté River. Analysis of reproductive activity showed that L. piau from both sections reproduced, but females and males from section 1 exhibited higher total length, body weight, Fulton condition factor, and gonadosomatic index values, as compared to section 2. Sexual dimorphism was evident in the species, with females being larger than males. Moreover, males reached first gonadal maturation at a smaller size than females. The peak maturation/mature stage was observed in November/April for females and males in section 1 and in November/December in section 2, coinciding with high temperatures and precipitation in the region. In both sections of the river, L. piau exhibited the typical characteristics of partial spawning, with a prolonged spawning period, and preferential reproduction in lentic environments.

Resumo Objetivo: Caracterizar processos com decisões judiciais por erros envolvendo profissionais de enfermagem. Métodos: Estudo documental, com os casos julgados e concluídos, que versavam sobre erro envolvendo profissionais de enfermagem. O levantamento foi realizado nos meses de maio e junho de 2018, no sítio online do Tribunal de Justiça do Paraná. As informações de interesse foram: local da ocorrência, profissionais envolvidos, características das vítimas, do erro e o desfecho da investigação. Para análise os dados foram submetidos à estatística descritiva. Resultados: Foram identificados 31 casos julgados, cuja maioria ocorreu em ambiente hospitalar (90,32%), com indivíduos adultos (64,71%). Em oito casos a vítima foi a óbito, em metade deles apresentou incapacidade temporária (17=50%) e sete pessoas apresentaram incapacidade permanente. O erro mais frequente envolveu a administração de medicamentos (38,71%), seguido por erro de assistência ao parto (19,35%). Em mais da metade dos casos o boletim de ocorrência foi registrado pela própria vítima (58,06%) e somente um perito médico foi consultado durante o processo (61,29%). Em 22 casos o profissional foi condenado. Destes, 20 foram condenações cíveis e duas criminais. Em média, os processos cíveis geraram ressarcimento de R$ 42.614,30 reais e nos processos criminais, a média de tempo de reclusão, convertidos em serviços comunitários foi de 18 meses. Conclusão: Os processos judiciais culminaram em condenações. Além disso, apontam à necessidade de melhor estrutura e apoio aos profissionais que passam pela experiência jurídica.

Abstract Objective: To characterize lawsuits with judicial decisions by errors involving nursing professionals. Methods: A documentary study, with cases judged and concluded that dealt with error involving nursing professionals. The survey was carried out in May and June 2018, on the online website of the Court of Justice of Paraná State. The information of interest was place of occurrence, professionals involved, characteristics of victims, error and outcome of the investigation. For analysis, the data were submitted to descriptive statistics. Results: There were 31 cases judged, most of which occurred in a hospital (90.32%) and with adults (64.71%). In eight cases, the victim died; in half, the victims had temporary disability (17.50%); seven people had permanent disability. The most frequent error involved medication administration (38.71%), followed by delivery error (19.35%). In more than half of the cases, police report card was registered by the victim (58.06%) and only one medical expert was consulted during the lawsuit (61.29%). In 22 cases, the professional was convicted. Of these, 20 were civil and two criminal convictions. On average, civil lawsuits generated reimbursement of about 10,654 US dollars. In criminal cases, the average length of imprisonment converted into community services was 18 months. Conclusion: Lawsuits culminated in convictions. In addition, they point to the need for better structure and support for professionals who undergo legal experience.

Resumen Objetivo: Caracterizar procesos con decisiones judiciales por errores donde hubo profesionales de enfermería involucrados. Métodos: Estudio documental con los casos juzgados y concluidos, referentes a errores donde hubo profesionales de enfermería involucrados. El análisis fue realizado en los meses de mayo y junio de 2018, en el sitio web del Tribunal de Justicia de Paraná. La información de interés obtenida fue: lugar del caso, profesionales involucrados, características de las víctimas y del error y desenlace de la investigación. Los datos fueron sometidos a la estadística descriptiva para su análisis. Resultados: Se identificaron 31 casos juzgados, cuya mayoría ocurrió en ambiente hospitalario (90,32%), con individuos adultos (64,71%). En 8 casos la víctima falleció, en la mitad de los casos la persona presentó incapacidad temporaria (17=50%) y 7 personas presentaron incapacidad permanente. El error más frecuente se relacionó con la administración de medicamentos (38,71%), seguido por error de atención en el parto (19,35%). En más de la mitad de los casos, la denuncia fue registrada por la propia víctima (58,06%) y se consultó solo a un perito médico durante el proceso (61,29%). En 22 casos el profesional fue condenado, de los cuales 20 fueron sentencias civiles y dos criminales. En promedio, los procesos civiles generaron indemnizaciones de R$ 42.614,30 y en los procesos criminales, el promedio de tiempo de reclusión, convertidos en servicios comunitarios, fue de 18 meses. Conclusión: Los procesos judiciales terminaron en sentencias. Además, señalan la necesidad de una mejor estructura y apoyo a los profesionales que pasan por la experiencia jurídica.
