The COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure of Brazilian educational institutions in March 2020, resulting in a shift to virtual classes for almost all students. This abrupt transition disrupted social interaction and cooperation among students. In response, a research study focused on improving virtual classes using Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT). The study proposed a four-step methodology: analyzing the impact of DICT on socio-emotional skills, designing and developing digital tasks to enhance social interaction, evaluating the effectiveness of these tasks through a questionnaire, and validating the methodology through qualitative analysis. The results showed that using DICT, combined with tailored pedagogical activities based on students' access to technology, aided in developing socio-emotional skills. Virtual classes positively affect students' organizational skills, empathy, and collaboration in group dynamics and individual activities.

Para mitigar los impactos de la pandemia de COVID-19, las instituciones educativas brasileñas cerraron y finalizaron las actividades presenciales en marzo de 2020, lo que afectó a casi el 100% de la población estudiantil brasileña y aceleró la adopción de clases virtuales en la educación primaria. Esta medida obligó a los estudiantes a pasar de clases presenciales a clases virtuales, lo que resultó en una interrupción abrupta de la interacción social y un sentido de cooperación entre los estudiantes. Debido al escenario expuesto, esta investigación investigó un método viable para mejorar las clases virtuales utilizando Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación Digital (TICD). En primer lugar, se realizó un análisis de cómo impacta el uso de las TICD en el desarrollo de habilidades socioemocionales. A continuación, buscamos diseñar y desarrollar nuevas dinámicas y tareas pedagógicas, en formato digital, que potenciaran la interacción social para mejorar la concentración de los estudiantes en la realización de las actividades escolares. El método fue implementado y validado a través de resultados que demostraron que el uso de las TIC en conjunto con actividades pedagógicas desarrolladas de acuerdo a la realidad del acceso de los estudiantes a la tecnología ayuda en el desarrollo de habilidades socioemocionales porque, durante las clases virtuales, se reconocieron impactos positivos sobre el sentido de organización tanto en dinámicas de grupo en las que los estudiantes demostraron empatía y colaboración con compañeros que tenían dificultades para utilizar las TICD como en actividades individuales.

Para mitigar os impactos da pandemia da COVID-19, as instituições de ensino brasileiras foram fechadas e encerraram as atividades presenciais em março de 2020, o que afetou quase 100% da população estudantil brasileira, acelerando a adoção de aulas virtuais no ensino fundamental. Tal medida forçou os alunos a mudarem de aulas presenciais para virtuais, resultando numa interrupção abrupta da interação social e do sentido de cooperação entre os alunos. Devido ao cenário exposto, esta pesquisa investigou um método viável para melhorar aulas virtuais utilizando Tecnologias Digitais de Informação e Comunicação (TDIC). Na sequência, procurou-se conceber e desenvolver novas dinâmicas e tarefas pedagógicas, em formato digital, que potencializassem a interação social para melhorar o foco dos alunos na execução das atividades escolares.  O método foi implantado e validado por meio dos resultados que demonstraram que o uso das TDIC em conjunto com atividades pedagógicas desenvolvidas conforme a realidade de acesso dos alunos à tecnologia auxilia no desenvolvimento de competências socioemocionais porque, durante as aulas virtuais, foram reconhecidos impactos positivos no sentido de organização tanto nas dinâmicas de grupo em que os alunos demonstraram empatia e colaboração com colegas que tinham dificuldades na utilização das TDIC, quanto nas atividades individuais.

Abstract Objective: to analyze the prevalence of tuberculosis, coronavirus, chronic conditions and vulnerabilities among migrants and refugees in Brazil. Method: this is a cross-sectional study of the electronic survey type conducted with international migrants during the COVID-19 pandemic. Descriptive statistics was applied for the analysis, with calculation of position and dispersion measures. Regarding the categorical variables, relative and absolute frequencies were estimated. Results: the study participants were 553 migrants and refugees, verifying 3.07%, 7.2% and 27.3% prevalence of tuberculosis, COVID-19 and chronic conditions, respectively. Among the vulnerabilities, 32% reported unemployment, 37.6% moved to Brazil as a result of the social situation in their countries and 33.6% were living as refugees or sheltered people. Conclusion: tuberculosis, chronic diseases and COVID-19 presented higher prevalence values in migrants and refugees than in the general population. As this is a population group that still has significant difficulty accessing health services and social protection systems, based on diverse evidence, the study will subsidize public policies, Nursing care and the incorporation of new routines in the service.

Resumen Objetivo: analizar la prevalencia de tuberculosis, coronavirus, condiciones crónicas y vulnerabilidades en inmigrantes y refugiados en Brasil. Método: se trata de un estudio transversal, del tipo encuesta electrónica, realizado con migrantes internacionales durante la pandemia de COVID-19. Para el análisis se aplicó estadística descriptiva, con cálculo de medidas de posición y dispersión. En cuanto a las variables categóricas, se estimaron las frecuencias relativas y absolutas. Resultados: participaron del estudio 553 inmigrantes y refugiados, la prevalencia de tuberculosis era del 3,07%, de COVID-19 del 7,2% y de condiciones crónicas del 27,3%. Entre las vulnerabilidades, el 32% reportó desempleo, el 37,6% emigró a Brasil por la situación social de su país y el 33,6% vivía en un asilo o albergue. Conclusión: la tuberculosis, las enfermedades crónicas y el COVID-19 fueron más prevalentes en inmigrantes y refugiados que en la población general. Por tratarse de una población que aún tiene grandes dificultades para acceder a los servicios de salud y sistemas de protección social, el estudio contribuirá, con base en la evidencia, a las políticas públicas, la atención de enfermería y la incorporación de nuevas rutinas en el servicio.

Por tratar-se de uma população ainda com grande dificuldade de acesso aos serviços de saúde e aos sistemas de proteção social, o estudo subsidiará, com base em evidências, as políticas públicas, o atendimento do enfermeiro e a incorporação de novas rotinas no serviço.

Resumo A pandemia de COVID-19 teve um imenso impacto nas condições de vida e trabalho de toda a população do país, impactando de modo diferenciado e mais intenso os grupos considerados vulneráveis. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar um panorama da evolução da pandemia no país segundo os boletins do Observatório Covid-19 Fiocruz, no período entre as declarações de início e de encerramento da Emergência em Saúde Pública de Importância Nacional (ESPIN), fevereiro de 2020 a abril de 2022. Foram utilizados diversos dos indicadores adotados nos 69 boletins publicados para a análise da pandemia, como casos e óbitos por SRAGs e COVID-19, grupos etários, taxas de ocupação de leitos UTI e vacinação, entre outros. A análise da evolução foi organizada entre anos e fases da pandemia, procurando destacar o que caracterizou cada momento. A declaração de encerramento da ESPIN no Brasil coincide com as discussões acerca da transição de pandemia para a endemia, sem que isso represente a eliminação do vírus, das infecções e da doença, colocando-se os desafios de avanços nos processos de vacinação no Brasil e no mundo e da convivência com cenários que poderão exigir a adoção de medidas de proteção temporárias em períodos epidêmicos e de maior risco para grupos vulneráveis.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the living and working conditions of the entire population of Brazil, having a different and more intense effect on groups considered to be vulnerable. The objective of this article is to present an overview of the evolution of the pandemic in the country according to the bulletins of the Covid-19 Fiocruz Observatory in the period between the declarations of the beginning and end of the Public Health Emergency of National Concern (ESPIN, in Portuguese), February 2020 to April 2022. Several of the indicators adopted in the 69 bulletins published for the analysis of the pandemic were used, such as cases and deaths due to SARIs and COVID-19, age groups, % of occupancy of ICU beds, and vaccination, among others. The evolution analysis was organized between years and phases of the pandemic, seeking to highlight what characterized each moment. The closing statement of ESPIN in Brazil coincides with the discussions on the transition from a pandemic to an endemic scenario, without this representing the elimination of the virus, infections, and disease, posing the challenges of advances in vaccination processes in Brazil and around the world, as well as living with scenarios that may require the adoption of temporary protection measures in epidemic periods and periods of greater risk for vulnerable groups.

ABSTRACT Originally designed to describe and analyze the spaces of extermination built by the totalitarian regimes of the mid-twentieth century, the notion of camp has gained new analytical developments in the social sciences, and has also been used to interpret the making of cities on the peripheries of cities at the beginning of the twenty-first century. This article aims to re-discuss this notion based on the transformations of the urban space caused by the politics of life and death on the outskirts of Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. If the peripheries in Brazil have always been seen as spaces where human rights have been violated and the most basic principles of citizenship have never become the rule, it is urgent to direct our attention to the urban scales that necrobiopolitics has altered.

RÉSUMÉ Pensée à l’origine pour décrire et analyser les espaces d’extermination construits par les régimes totalitaires du milieu du xxe siècle, la notion de champ a acquis de nouveaux développements analytiques dans les sciences sociales, en commençant à être mobilisée également pour interpréter le city-making aux frontières des villes au début du xxie siècle. Cet article vise à rediscuter cette notion à partir des transformations de l’espace urbain provoquées par les politiques de vie et de mort dans la périphérie de Fortaleza, Ceará, au Brésil. Si les périphéries brésiliennes ont toujours été perçues comme des espaces de non-respect des droits humains, où les principes les plus élémentaires de citoyenneté ne sont jamais devenus la règle, il est urgent de prêter attention aux échelles urbaines que la nécrobiopolitique a altéré.

RESUMO Pensada originariamente para descrever e analisar os espaços de extermínio construídos pelos regimes totalitários de meados do século xx, a noção de campo ganhou novos desdobramentos analíticos nas ciências sociais, passando a ser mobilizada também para interpretar o fazer cidade nas fronteiras das urbes do início do século xxi. O presente artigo almeja rediscutir essa noção com base nas transformações do espaço urbano provocadas pelas políticas da vida e da morte na periferia de Fortaleza, Ceará, Brasil. Se as periferias brasileiras sempre foram vistas como espaços de violação de direitos humanos, onde os princípios mais básicos da cidadania nunca se tornaram regra, urge dar atenção às escalas urbanísticas que a necrobiopolítica tem alterado.

RESUMO Objetivo. Identificar a percepção dos gestores de saúde sobre as ações adotadas e os desafios encontrados no enfrentamento de HIV e sífilis em mulheres venezuelanas migrantes no Brasil. Métodos. Este estudo descritivo-exploratório, de abordagem qualitativa, foi realizado de janeiro a março de 2021 nos municípios de Boa Vista (estado de Roraima) e Manaus (estado do Amazonas). As entrevistas em áudio realizadas com os participantes foram transcritas na íntegra. A análise foi pautada na técnica de avaliação de conteúdo temática. Resultados. Foram entrevistados 10 gestores (cinco em Boa Vista e cinco em Manaus). A análise de conteúdo identificou os seguintes eixos e temas: estrutura disponível para diagnóstico e tratamento de aids e sífilis — acesso, vagas para atendimento/fila de espera, formação das equipes de saúde e suporte psicossocial; desafios enfrentados pelas mulheres venezuelanas — idioma, questões de documentação e frequência de alteração de endereço; e estratégias e ações adotadas e expectativas para o enfrentamento de HIV/aids e sífilis no contexto de migração. Conclusões. Apesar das ações de acolhimento das mulheres venezuelanas migrantes — garantido pela universalidade do sistema de saúde brasileiro — aspectos como o idioma e a falta de documentação permanecem como barreiras. Diante da inexistência de planos de ação e planejamento futuro da atenção a mulheres migrantes portadoras de HIV ou sífilis nos municípios, é importante desenvolver políticas públicas com o objetivo de minimizar as dificuldades enfrentadas por essa população.

RESUMEN Objetivo. Determinar la percepción de los gestores de salud sobre las medidas adoptadas y los desafíos encontrados para manejar la infección por el VIH y la sífilis en mujeres migrantes venezolanas en Brasil. Métodos. Este estudio descriptivo y exploratorio, con enfoque cualitativo, se realizó de enero a marzo del 2021 en los municipios de Boa Vista (estado de Roraima) y Manaos (estado de Amazonas). La grabación de las entrevistas de los participantes se transcribió en su totalidad. El análisis se basó en la técnica de evaluación temática del contenido. Resultados. Se hicieron entrevistas a diez gestores (cinco en Boa Vista y cinco en Manaos). En el análisis del contenido se observaron los siguientes ejes y temas: la estructura disponible para el diagnóstico y tratamiento del sida y de la sífilis, con inclusión de acceso, cupos de atención, filas de espera y formación de equipos de salud y apoyo psicosocial; los desafíos enfrentados por las mujeres venezolanas, como idioma, problemas de documentación y frecuencia de cambio de domicilio; las estrategias y medidas adoptadas y las expectativas para enfrentar la infección por el VIH/sida y la sífilis en el marco de la migración. Conclusiones. A pesar de las medidas de acogida a las mujeres migrantes venezolanas, garantizadas por la universalidad del sistema de salud brasileño, todavía existen algunas barreras como el idioma y la falta de documentación. Ante la falta de planes de acción y planificación futura de la atención a las mujeres migrantes portadoras del VIH o con sífilis en los municipios, es importante formular políticas públicas con el fin de reducir las dificultades enfrentadas por este grupo de la población.

ABSTRACT Objective. To identify the perception of health managers regarding the actions taken and the challenges encountered in addressing HIV and syphilis in Venezuelan migrant women in Brazil. Method. This descriptive-exploratory study using a qualitative approach was conducted from January to March 2021 in the municipalities of Boa Vista (state of Roraima) and Manaus (state of Amazonas). Audio interviews with the participants were transcribed in full and examined using thematic content analysis. Results. Ten managers were interviewed (five in Boa Vista and five in Manaus). Content analysis identified the following domains and themes: available infrastructure for diagnosis and treatment of AIDS and syphilis — access, availability of medical appointments /waiting list, training of health teams, and psychosocial support; challenges faced by Venezuelan women — language, documentation issues, and frequent address changes; and strategies and actions adopted and expectations for addressing HIV/AIDS and syphilis in the context of migration. Conclusions. Despite the care provided to Venezuelan women in Brazil — guaranteed by the universal nature of the Brazilian health system — language and lack of documentation remain as barriers. Given the absence of action plans and future planning for the care of migrant women with HIV or syphilis in municipalities, it is important to develop public policies aimed at minimizing the difficulties faced by this population.

RESUMO Objetivo: Inquérito nacional de cobertura vacinal aos 12 e 24 meses de idade foi realizado para investigar as quedas nas coberturas a partir de 2016. Métodos: Amostra de 37.836 nascidos vivos das coortes de 2017 e 2018 residentes nas capitais, Distrito Federal (DF) e 12 cidades com mais de 100 mil habitantes, acompanhados nos primeiros 24 meses por registros nas cadernetas de vacinação. Setores censitários foram estratificados segundo condições socioeconômicas, e o mesmo número de crianças foi incluído para cada estrato. Calcularem-se coberturas vacinais de cada vacina e coberturas completas aos 12 e 24 meses, doses aplicadas, válidas e oportunas. Fatores familiares, maternos e da criança associados à cobertura foram pesquisados. Os motivos para não vacinar analisados foram: contraindicações médicas, dificuldades de acesso, problemas no funcionamento do programa e hesitação vacinal. Resultados: Os resultados preliminares mostram que menos de 1% das crianças não foram vacinadas, as coberturas pelo esquema completo são menores que 75% em todas as capitais e no DF, as vacinas com mais de uma dose perdem cobertura progressivamente, há diferenças entre os estratos socioeconômicos, favoráveis aos estratos mais altos em algumas cidades e aos estratos mais baixos em outras. Conclusão: Houve realmente redução da cobertura vacinal em todas as capitais e no DF para as crianças nascidas em 2017 e 2018, denotando piora na execução do Programa Nacional de Imunizações durante os anos de 2017 a 2019. O inquérito realizado não mensurou os impactos da pandemia de COVID-19 que podem ter reduzido ainda mais as coberturas vacinais.

ABSTRACT Objective: The national vaccination coverage survey on full vaccination at 12 and 24 months of age was carried out to investigate drops in coverage as of 2016. Methods: A sample of 37,836 live births from the 2017 or 2018 cohorts living in capital cities, the Federal District, and 12 inner cities with 100 thousand inhabitants were followed for the first 24 months through vaccine record cards. Census tracts stratified according to socioeconomic levels had the same number of children included in each stratum. Coverage for each vaccine, full vaccination at 12 and 24 months and number of doses administered, valid and timely, were calculated. Family, maternal and child factors associated with coverage were surveyed. The reasons for not vaccinating analyzed were: medical contraindications, access difficulties, problems with the program, and vaccine hesitancy. Results: Preliminary results showed that less than 1% of children were not vaccinated, full coverage was less than 75% at all capitals and the Federal District, vaccines requiring more than one dose progressively lost coverage, and there were inequalities among socioeconomic strata, favorable to the highest level in some cities and to the lowest in others. Conclusion: There was an actual reduction in full vaccination in all capitals and the Federal District for children born in 2017 and 2018, showing a deteriorating implementation of the National Immunization Program from 2017 to 2019. The survey did not measure the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, which may have further reduced vaccination coverage.

Abstract PCOS is an endocrine disorder characterized by chronic anovulation, hyperandrogenism, and polycystic ovaries. Its etiology is uncertain. It is debated whether BPA would be a component of the environmental factor in the etiology of PCOS. Contamination by BPA can occur from food packaging (exposure during the diet) and through skin absorption and/or inhalation. It can be transferred to the fetus via the placenta or to the infant via breast milk, and it can be found in follicular fluid, fetal serum, and amniotic fluid. The phenolic structure of BPA allows it to interact with Estrogen Receptors (ERs) through genomic signaling, in which BPA binds to nuclear ERα or Erβ, or through nongenomic signaling by binding to membrane ERs, prompting a rapid and intense response. With daily and constant exposure, BPA's tendency to bioaccumulate and its ability to activate nongenomic signaling pathways can alter women's metabolic and reproductive function, leading to hyperandrogenism, insulin resistance, obesity, atherogenic dyslipidemia, chronic inflammatory state, and anovulation and favoring PCOS. The harmful changes caused by BPA can be passed on to future generations without the need for additional exposure because of epigenetic modifications. Not only high BPA levels can produce harmful effects, but at low levels, BPA may be harmful when exposure occurs during the most vulnerable periods, such as the fetal and neonatal periods, as well as during the prepubertal age causing an early accumulation of BPA in the body. Learning how BPA participates in the pathogenesis of PCOS poses a challenge and further studies should be conducted.

ABSTRACT Soybean seeds (Glycine max) were dried under real scale conditions to different final moisture content (m.c.) (9.1, 9.7, 10.9 %, and control with 16.2 %) and processed through extruding-expelling. Results indicated that soybean seed m.c. affected the composition of the soybean expeller and, thus, the oil extraction efficiency (OEE), which increased as the seed m.c. decreased. A polynomic model was proposed for predicting OEE as a function of soybean m.c., indicating that drying soybean to 10 % resulted in an OEE of approximately 65 %. A thin layer drying experiment of soybean seeds indicated that the protein dispersibility index (PDI) was not affected as regards drying air temperatures up to approximately 69 °C, and a bi-linear model with a non-pre-established break point was fitted. The real scale drying treatment in a rack type dryer (mixed flow) did not show any effect (p > 0.05) on the PDI at 80 °C, while at 115 °C a reduction (p < 0.05) was observed (PDI reduction was 0.8 and 2.1 percentage points, respectively).

Abstract Background The mortality rate of Brazilian people with haemophilia (PwH) is decreasing, but the relative incidence of deaths associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) is increasing. Objectives We aimed to describe the CVD risk score of PwH according to Pooled Cohort Equations Risk (PCER) Calculator tool and its treatment recommendations. We also compared the PCER estimates with the respective Framingham Risk Score (FRS). Methods This cross-sectional study included male PwH ≥ 40 years treated at the Comprehensive Haemophilia Treatment Centre of Pernambuco (Recife/Brazil). PwH with a previous CVD event or a low-density lipid cholesterol ≥ 5.0 mmol/L were excluded. Interviews, medical file reviews, and blood tests were performed. The PCER tool was used to estimate the CVD risk and compare it with the respective FRS. A p-value < 0.05 was accepted as statistically significant. Results Thirty PwH were included. Median age was 51.5 [interquartile range-IQR; 46.0-59.5] years. The prevalence of obesity, systemic arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypertriglyceridaemia, hypercholesterolaemia, and hypoHDLaemia were 20%, 67%, 24%, 14%, 47%, and 23%, respectively. The median PCER score was 6.9% [IQR; 3.1-13.2], with 50% having a high risk (PCER ≥ 7.5%). Statin use was suggested for 54% of PwH. Blood pressure was poorly controlled in 47% of PwH. The agreement between PCER and FRS was 80% (κ = 0.60; p = 0.001). Conclusions Half of the male people with haemophilia aged 40 years or older had a 10-year high risk of developing CVD with strong recommendations to improve control of dyslipidaemia and blood pressure.

Resumo Fundamento A taxa de mortalidade de pessoas com hemofilia (PCH) no Brasil está diminuindo, mas a incidência relativa de mortes associadas a doenças cardiovasculares (DCV) tem aumentado. Objetivos Nosso objetivo foi descrever o escore de risco de DCV de PCHs de acordo com a ferramenta Pooled Cohort Equations Risk (PCER) Calculator e suas recomendações de tratamento. Além disso, foram comparadas as estimativas da PCER com o respectivo escore de risco de Framingham (FRS). Métodos Este estudo transversal incluiu PCHs do sexo masculino, com idade igual ou superior a 40 anos, tratados no Centro de Tratamento Integral de Hemofilia de Pernambuco (Recife/Brasil). PCHs com um evento cardiovascular prévio ou colesterol lipídico de baixa densidade ≥ 5,0 mmol/L foram excluídas. Entrevistas, revisões de prontuários médicos e exames de sangue foram realizados. A ferramenta PCER foi utilizada para estimar o risco de DCV e compará-lo com o respectivo FRS. Um valor de p < 0,05 foi aceito como estatisticamente significativo. Resultados Trinta PCHs foram incluídas. A idade mediana foi de 51,5 [intervalo interquartil-IIQ; 46,0-59,5] anos. A prevalência de obesidade, hipertensão arterial sistêmica, diabetes mellitus, hipertrigliceridemia, hipercolesterolemia e hipoHDLemia foi de 20%, 67%, 24%, 14%, 47% e 23%, respectivamente. O escore mediano da PCER foi de 6,9% [IIQ; 3,1-13,2], com 50% de alto risco (PCER ≥ 7,5%). O uso de estatina foi sugerido para 54% das PCHs. A pressão arterial estava mal controlada em 47% das PCHs. A concordância entre PCER e FRS foi de 80% (κ = 0,60; p = 0,001). Conclusões Metade dos homens com hemofilia, com 40 anos de idade ou mais, teve um alto risco de desenvolver DCV em 10 anos, com fortes recomendações para melhorar o controle da dislipidemia e da pressão arterial.

ABSTRACT Soils are the largest terrestrial carbon (C) reservoir, and most of this C is retained as soil organic matter (SOM). Due to its ability to capture, stabilize, and store C for extended periods, soils are considered important allies in decarbonizing the atmosphere. The term ‘C stabilization’ includes a series of mechanisms or processes by which soil C is protected within soils and its losses are reduced through microbial decomposition or leaching. Due to their relevance in the global C cycle, C stabilization mechanisms have received intensive attention from the scientific community. As new analytic technologies push the boundaries of what was previously possible to know, new paradigms emerge. This literature review summarizes the current knowledge of the main mechanisms that may promote SOM stabilization. Factors that govern accumulation of SOM are also addressed. We highlight the role of organo-mineral associations and spatial inaccessibility of SOM due to occlusion within soil aggregates to understand the relative contribution of these mechanisms in different soil conditions (e.g., soil texture, mineralogy, and land- use). In addition, the contribution of cutting-edge approaches and analytical techniques to advance the understanding of SOM protection is presented. Modern techniques to evaluate SOM on a micro, nano, and molecular scale can contribute to the mechanistic understanding of SOM stabilization and the study and adoption of management strategies that maintain and increase C stocks in soils.

Abstract Objective: With the aging of the population, more patients have complained of pain due to knee Osteoarthritis (OA), and the number of arthroplasties has also increased. The objective of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of the neuropathic pain component in candidates for Total Knee Replacement and the effects of this component on their quality of life. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, patients with OA candidates for knee arthroplasty in the present institution were evaluated using the pain detection questionnaire and the Visual Analog Pain (VAS) scale to measure the pain index and the presence of associated neuropathic pain. In addition, evaluation of the quality of life and functionality using the EQ5D and SF12 questionnaires and their relationship with cases of neuropathic pain were performed. Results: One hundred twenty-six patients were evaluated, and 71.4 % were female. The age ranged from 46 to 85 years, and about 70 % of the patients had some associated clinical comorbidity. Neuropathic pain was present in 28.6 % of the patients evaluated. Patients with neuropathic pain presented worse results in the VAS evaluation, in the care, pain, and anxiety domains of the EQ5D, and in the physical and mental scores of the SF12. Conclusion: Neuropathic pain was present in 28.6 % of the patients with knee OA who are candidates for arthro-plasty. Patients with associated neuropathic pain present a higher level of pain and worse quality of life scores. Recognizing this type of pathology is extremely important in fully monitoring gonarthrosis.

ABSTRACT. This study aimed to evaluate whether different fertilization strategies influence the morphogenic, structural, and production characteristics of Megathyrsus maximus cv. Mombaça. The experimental design adopted was a randomized block design with a 4 × 3 factorial scheme having five replications. The treatments were as per the following fertilization recommendations: 5th Approach Guide (5AP), Pará Guide (PG), Nutrient Replacement (RP), and the Michaelis and Menten adapted model (MM), applied for three days after application of the nitrogen (N) source following defoliation (days 0, 3, and 6). The interaction between factors affected the following variables: leaf appearance rate (LAR), leaf elongation rate (LER), and leaf senescence rate (LSR). The highest stem elongation rate (SER) was observed for the 5AP recommendation treatment with N application on day 0 (0.113 cm). The highest leaf area index (LAI; 5.33) and tiller population density (TPD; 421.5 tillers m-2) were observed for the 5AP recommendation. The 5AP recommendation with N application on day 0 and on the sixth day after defoliation, and the MM recommendation with fertilization on day 0 showed the best LAR and LER, as well as a greater number of cycles and greater absolute values of leaf blade dry mass.
