RESUMO: A melhoria do TFP agrícola é fundamental para promover o desenvolvimento de alta qualidade da agricultura. Este artigo descreve e identifica as características de diferenciação espaço-temporal e a correlação espacial do TFP agrícola chinês em 283 cidades de nível de prefeitura, de 2001 a 2018, usando os índices Metafroniter-Malmquist e Moran. Os resultados mostram que: (1) De 2001 a 2018, o TFP agrícola da China foi de 6,64%, e seu crescimento foi impulsionado principalmente pelo progresso tecnológico agrícola. A contribuição da eficiência tecnológica agrícola foi pequena. A lei de crescimento mostrou uma tendência de crescimento “em forma de U invertido” de primeiro aumento e depois queda. (2) O TFP agrícola chinês apresenta características significativas de crescimento desequilibrado regional. (3) A taxa de crescimento do TFP agrícola na maioria das cidades de nível de prefeitura é média e lenta, e a maioria das cidades de nível de prefeitura depende do progresso tecnológico agrícola para promover o crescimento. (4) O TFP agrícola de várias cidades apresentou um fenômeno de correlação espacial significativo de “alto-alto” ou “baixo-baixo”. Este estudo tem valor teórico e prático significativo para manter o crescimento estável do TFP agrícola da China e promover o desenvolvimento de alta qualidade da agricultura da China.

ABSTRACT: The improvement of agricultural TFP is critical to promoting the high-quality development of agriculture. This paper described and identified the spatiotemporal differentiation characteristics and spatial correlation of China’s agricultural TFP in 283 prefecture-level cities from 2001 to 2018 using the Metafroniter-Malmquist and Moran index. The results showed that: (1) From 2001 to 2018, China’s agricultural TFP was 6.64%, and its growth was mainly driven by agricultural technological progress. The contribution of agricultural technological efficiency was small. The growth law showed an “inverted U-shaped” growth trend of first rising and then falling. (2) China’s agricultural TFP has significant characteristics of regional unbalanced growth. (3) The growth rate of agricultural TFP in most prefecture-level cities is medium and slow, and most prefecture-level cities relied on agricultural technological progress to promote growth. (4) The agricultural TFP of various cities showed a significant spatial correlation phenomenon of “high-high” or “low-low.” This study has significant theoretical and practical value for maintaining the stable growth of China’s agricultural TFP and promoting the high-quality development of China’s agriculture.

Astragaloside IV is a biologically active substance derived from the traditional Chinese medicine Astragalus mambranaceus Bunge, and has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic properties. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of astragaloside IV on Klebsiella pneumonia rats and the underlying mechanisms. Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) rats were treated with different dosages of astragaloside IV (5, 10, and 20 mg/kg) by intragastric administration. The levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were determined. Pathological changes of lung tissue were inspected by HE staining. The expression of transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 in lung tissue was determined with immunohistochemistry, and the expression levels of TGF-β1, p-Smad2/Smad2, p-Smad3/Smad3, IκBα/p-IκBα, and p65/p-p65 in lung tissue were determined by western blot. The mechanism was further investigated with TGF-β1 inhibitor SB-431542. Astragaloside IV reduced the elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines caused by K. pneumoniae and improved lung tissue damage in a dose-dependent manner. Astragaloside IV also decreased the expression of TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway-related proteins and decreased the protein levels of inflammation-related p-IκBα and p65 in lung tissues induced by K. pneumoniae. Additionally, it was found that the effects of 20 mg/kg astragaloside IV were similar to SB-431542, which could improve pulmonary fibrosis induced by K. pneumoniae, decrease the levels of TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway-related proteins in lung, and reduce inflammation at the same time. Astragaloside IV could alleviate the inflammation of rat pneumonia induced by K. pneumoniae through suppressing the TGF-β1/Smad pathway.

Abstrato Introdução: O índice de população adulta com mais de 60 anos de idade aumentou notavelmente globalmente e nacionalmente. Pode-se considerar que o envelhecimento da população é um padrão positivo para determinar o avanço na implementação das políticas de saúde, mas também é um desafio descrever a qualidade de vida dessa faixa etária. Os grupos indígenas também são modificados por esse aumento da longevidade, e é importante saber como suas crenças religiosas afetam sua qualidade de vida. Objetivo: Determinar a relação das crenças religiosas e qualidade de vida dos idosos em uma comunidade indígena. Metodologia: Estudo quantitativo, correlacional e transversal, com amostra de 49 idosos de ambos os sexos, residentes na comunidade, conhecedores de suas crenças religiosas e professando tal religião, excluindo-se os portadores de doenças mentais. Para a coleta de informações foram utilizados o Inventário do Sistema de Crenças SBI-15R e a escala de qualidade de vida WHOQOL-BREF, atendendo ao disposto na Lei Geral de Saúde referente à pesquisa em saúde. Resultados: A média de idade dos participantes foi 73,2 anos. Mais da metade dos participantes (55%) relatou ter uma alta qualidade de vida e 59% um alto nível de crenças e práticas religiosas. A correlação de Pearson foi de 0,379 com um valor de p=0,007. Conclusões: Neste estudo, pode-se constatar que existe associação do nível de crenças e práticas religiosas com a qualidade de vida de idosos em uma comunidade indígena.

Abstract Introduction: The index of adult population over 60 years of age has increased remarkably globally and nationally. It could be considered that the aging of the population is a positive standard to determine the progress in the implementation of health policies, but it is also a challenge to describe the quality of life of this age group. Indigenous groups are also modified by this increase in longevity, and it is important to know how their religious beliefs affect their quality of life. Objective: Determine the relationship between religious beliefs and the quality of life of the elderly in an indigenous community. Methodology: Quantitative, correlational and cross-sectional study, with a sample of 49 elderly of both sexes, living in the community, aware of their religious beliefs and professing such religion, excluding those with mental illnesses. The SBI-15R Belief System Inventory and the WHOQOL-BREF quality of life scale were used to collect information, adhering to the provisions of the General Health Law regarding health research. Results: The mean age of the participants was 73.2 years, 55% of them reported a high quality of life and 59% a high level of religious beliefs. The correlation of the variables was statistically significant, with p=.007. Conclusions: According to this study, it can be determined that there is an association between the level of religious beliefs and the quality of life of the elderly in an indigenous community.

Resumen Introducción: El índice de población adulta de más de 60 años ha incrementado notablemente a nivel mundial como nacional. Se podría considerar que el envejecimiento de la población es un estándar positivo para determinar un avance en la implementación de políticas de salud, pero así mismo se vuelve un reto en describir cómo es la calidad de vida de este grupo etario. Los grupos indígenas también se ven modificados por este incremento de la longevidad y es importante conocer como sus creencias religiosas afectan la calidad de vida. Objetivo: Determinar la relación de las creencias religiosas y calidad de vida del adulto mayor de una comunidad indígena. Metodología: Estudio cuantitativo, correlacional y transversal, con una muestra de 49 adultos mayores de ambos sexos, que vivieran en la comunidad, tuvieran conocimiento de sus creencias religiosas y fueran partícipes de las mismas, excluyendo a los que padecieran enfermedades mentales para recabar información se utilizó el inventario de sistema creencias SBI-15R y la escala de calidad de vida WHOQOL-BREF, apegándose a lo enmarcado en la Ley General de Salud en materia de investigación para la salud. Resultados: La edad media de los participantes fue 73.2 años, un 55% reportaron una calidad de vida alta y el 59% un alto nivel de creencias religiosas. La correlación de las variables fue estadísticamente significativa con p=.007. Conclusiones: En este estudio se puede determinar que existe una asociación del nivel de creencias religiosas con la calidad de vida de los adultos mayores de una comunidad indígena.

Abstract: After the reign of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty, as the Japanese pirates’ problem became more and more serious, books devoted to the study of Japan began to be published. Among them, the most important ones are A Brief Survey of Japan (Ri Ben Kao Lue), A Compilation of Japanese Maps (Ri Ben Tu Zuan), A Mirror of Japan (Ri Ben Yi Jian), A Survey of Japan (Ri Ben Kao), A Record of Japanese Customs (Ri Ben Fen Tu Ji), and A Biography of Japanese Pirates in Qiantai (Qian Tai Wo Zhuan). Out of these, A Mirror of Japan is a special one. In addition, there are also special books that depict the general ambiance of Japan, such as A Collection of Coastal Military Maps (Chou Hai Tu Bian), Resistance to Japanese Pirates in Ming Dynasty (Huang Ming Yu Wo Lu), the Compilation of Coastal Defense (Hai Fang Zuan Yao) and the Continuation of Coastal Defense Category in Zhedong and Zhexi Regions (Liang Zhe Hai Fang Lei Kao Xu Bian). Zheng Shungong, the author of the book A Mirror of Japan, visited Japan twice, so many contents in the book are based on his own experience and knowledge. Therefore, the breadth and scope of his research on Japan had gone beyond the similar literature of the Ming Dynasty. Moreover, the Japanese pirates’ record and analysis in the book are of great research value. Before the publication of Huang Zunxian’s Annals of Japan (Ri Ben Tu Zhi), A Mirror of Japan was one of the highest levels of monographs on Japan in ancient China.

Abstract Background and objectives: Nerve block or neurolysis is an important approach in the treatment of spastic equinovarus foot. To illustrate the accurate location of the nerve branch to the tibialis posterior muscle (TP) in clinical practice, 21 adult cadavers were dissected and 14 complete both lower limb specimens were obtained. A total of 28 lower limbs were included. Methods: We measured the length of the motor branch nerve (LM) of the tibialis posterior muscle, the length of the fibula (LF), the vertical distance (D1) from the midpoint of LM to the fibula tip as well as the horizontal distance (D2) from the midpoint of LM to the inner edge of the fibula. Results: The LM was higher (35.74 ± 7.28 mm) in male than in female (30.40 ± 6.88 mm) specimens but there was no significant correlation between LM and gender (> 0.05). Additionally, among male specimens, the LM on the right side was longer than that on the left (p ≤ 0.05) while among female specimens, the D1 on the left side was longer than that on the right (p ≤ 0.05). The LF in male specimen was significantly longer than that in female (p ≤ 0.05). The midpoint of the nerve to the motor branch of the tibialis posterior muscle was about 50 mm distal to the fibular head and 10 mm at the inner edge of the fibula. Conclusion: Using this coordinate, the midpoint of the nerve branch to the TP could be accurately located.

Abstract In this study, we aimed to compare clinical efficacy of laparoscopic surgery and open surgery for colorectal cancer in the Huaihe River Basin in China. A total of 92 patients with colorectal cancer were selected as subjects. Patients were divided into control group (open surgery, n = 27 cases) and test group (laparoscopic surgery, n = 28 cases). Our results showed that the duration of operation (122.54 ± 14.85) min and length of incision (4.51 ± 1.065) cm were shorter in the experimental group than those in the control group. The intraoperative blood loss of the experimental group was (161.12 ± 10.694) ml, which was less than that of the control group (218.53 ± 15.369) ml (P < 0.05). Patients in the experimental group have higher Five-year survival rate and lower incidence of postoperative complications than those in the control group (all P < 0.05). In conclusion, in the treatment of colorectal cancer, laparoscopic surgery has a better clinical effect than open surgery, which is worthy of clinical application.

Abstract To investigate the effect of DNMT3A in vascular calcification (VC) induced by high phosphorus. The arterial tissues of 12 patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) and VC and 12 patients with ESRD without VC were collected. Rat vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) were divided into control group, high phosphorus (P) group, P + DMSO group, p-ERK1/2 inhibitor group, DNMT3A group and DNMT3A + P group and P + shRNA-DNMT3A group. Vascular calcification was evaluated by von kossa staining. Cell calcification was evaluated by alizarin red staining. The calcium content was assessed by calcium determination kit. The levels of DNMT3A, Runx2, LC3 and p-ERK1/2 were significantly up-regulated in CKD patients with VC in comparison with those in CKD patients without VC(p<0.05). Moreover, the levels of SM22α and P62 were notably decreased in CKD patients with VC in comparison with those in CKD patients without VC(p<0.05). Similar changes were observed in VSMCs induced by high phosphorus. Knock down of DNMT3A in VSMCs inhibited phenotypic transformation and induced autophagy, then reduced calcification(p<0.05). Moreover, p-ERK1/2 level was downregulated by knock down of DNMT3A in comparison with the control group(p<0.05). In conclusion, DNMT3A regulated high phosphorus induced vascular medial calcification via ERK1/2 signaling.

Abstract Although cryopreservation is an efficient method for maintaining the biological and genetic resources of sperm, the sperm damage during the cryopreservation process cannot be ignored. It should be possible to obtain the most effective cryopreservation performance by accurately grasping the effects of various factors on the cryopreservation of sperm. The previous study demonstrated that a suitable standard protocol for cryopreservation of Korean native brindled cattle (Chikso) does not exist, based on the methods for semen cryopreservation of Chikso differ in each research center. The most obvious difference between most of protocols is the addition of glycerol before and after cooling during the Chikso cryopreserved semen process. Therefore we focused on the effects of glycerol addition time on the quality of cryopreserved Chikso sperm. In the present study, 27 individual Chikso samples were collected by transrectal massage and divided into two parts: the “cryopreservation method A” group (adding glycerol before cooling) and the “cryopreservation method B” group (adding glycerol after cooling). Meanwhile, the values of various sperm parameters were derived from each group, including sperm motility, kinematics, capacitation status, cell viability, and intracellular ATP levels, which we used to compare and evaluate sperm function. The results of this study indicated that during the semen cryopreservation process of the Chikso, the addition of glycerol after cooling yielded superior results in a variety of sperm parameters, such as sperm motility, progressive motility, rapid motility, VCL, VSL, VAP, ALH, capacitation status, viability, and intracellular ATP level after freezing and thawing. Our study is suggested that the glycerol addition time during the cryopreservation process for Chikso should be considered. In addition, our results may be provided reference to develop suitable the cryopreservation procedure of the Chikso sperm.

ABSTRACT To accurately measure sowing depth, we designed a multisensor data fusion algorithm based on the Kalman filter and applied it to a dual-channel ultrasonic sowing depth measurement system. We installed two ultrasonic sensors on the frame above the depth limit wheel and the soil covering-compacting wheel. The terrain-like plate was installed on the central axis of the depth limit wheel to simulate the surface relief and calculate the seeding depth value. The Kalman filter algorithm filters out the clutter generated when the two ultrasonic sensors collect the depth data and then fuses the two ultrasounds of the filtered data. The test shows that when the vehicle speed is 4 km/h , the fluctuation ranges of the collected data of ultrasonic 1 and 2 are 45-60 mm and 35-70 mm , respectively, and the fluctuation ranges of the filtered data are 52-58 mm and 48-60 mm , respectively. After data fusion processing, the data fluctuate in a small range of approximately 55 mm . When the vehicle speed is 6 km/h and 8 km/h, the obtained results have the same trend as the experimental results at 4 km/h . The results show that the sowing depth measurement system is effective.

Métodos: Este estudo usa 50 camundongos machos puros de dois meses de idade, pesando ± 3g aos 22 meses, e XXX camundongos por dia por cinco minutos cada vez. Após o treino, estes foram secos com uma toalha e secador de cabelo e colocados um do lado do outro. Resultados: O tempo médio de movimento para o grupo B de camundongos produzir fosfato de creatinina é consideravelmente mais longo do que o tempo médio do grupo A, onde não houve administração. O tempo de movimento se prolonga em 23,20%. O fosfato melhora a resistência motora e promove uma melhora na microcirculação durante o exercício. Conclusões: O movimento pode ser usado para melhorar a capacidade aeróbica máxima do exercício em movimento. Nível de evidência II; Estudos terapêuticos – investigação de resultados de tratamento.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Phosphate (CP) its biosynthesis begins with the kidney. Glycocianine was synthesized from glycocianine, then methylated in the liver, and finally formed in each tissue. Objective: To study the effects of phosphatic acid in exercise training. Methods: This paper uses 50 pure male mice, 2 month old, weight at 22 ± 3 g, and mice per day, 5 minutes each time. After exercise training, dry dry with a towel and blow it with a hair dryer, and move it to the end of each other. Results: The average time of motion B mouse to give phosphate creatine is significantly longer than the average time of the non-administration of the A group, and the motion time is prolonged to extend 23.20%. Phosphate has improved motor endurance and promotes improvement in muscle microcirculation during exercise. Conclusions: Motion can be used to improve the maximum aerobic capacity of exercise in motion. Level of evidence II; Therapeutic studies - investigation of treatment results.

Objetivo: Estudiar los efectos del ácido fosfato en entrenamiento de ejercicios. Métodos: Este estudio utiliza 50 ratones machos puros de 2 meses de edad, pesando ± 3g a los 22 meses, y xxx ratones por día por 5 minutos cada vez. Tras el entrenamiento, se los secó con una toalla y secador de pelo y se los puso lado a lado. Resultados: El tiempo medio de movimiento para el grupo B de ratones producir fosfato de creatina es considerablemente más largo que el tiempo medio del grupo A, donde no hubo administración. El tiempo de movimiento se alarga en 23,20%. El fosfato mejora la resistencia motora y promueve una mejoría en la microcirculación durante el ejercicio. Conclusiones: El movimiento puede usarse para mejorar la capacidad aeróbica máxima del ejercicio en movimiento. This study aimed to investigate the effect of WeChat-based education and rehabilitation program (WERP) on anxiety, depression, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), major adverse cardiac/cerebrovascular events (MACCE)-free survival, and loss to follow-up rate in unprotected left main coronary artery disease (ULMCAD) patients after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). In this randomized controlled study, 140 ULMCAD patients who underwent CABG were randomly assigned to WERP group (n=70) or control care (CC) group (n=70). During the 12-month intervention period, anxiety and depression (using hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS)) and HRQoL (using 12-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-12)) were assessed longitudinally. During the total 36-month follow-up period (12-month intervention and 24-month non-intervention periods), MACCE and loss to follow-up were recorded. During the intervention period, HADS-anxiety score at month 9 (M9) (P=0.047) and month 12 (M12) (P=0.034), anxiety rate at M12 (P=0.028), and HADS-D score at M12 (P=0.048) were all reduced in WERP group compared with CC group. As for HRQoL, SF-12 physical component summary score at M9 (P=0.020) and M12 (P=0.010) and SF-12 mental component summary score at M9 (P=0.040) and M12 (P=0.028) were all increased in WERP group compared with CC group. During the total follow-up period, WERP group displayed a trend of longer MACCE-free survival than that in CC group but without statistical significance (P=0.195). Additionally, loss to follow-up rate was attenuated in WERP group compared with CC group (P=0.033). WERP serves as an effective approach in optimizing mental health care and promoting life quality in ULMCAD patients after CABG.

Abstract Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a highly toxic mycotoxin that enters the human body through the food chain and poses a serious threat to human health. In this paper, polydopamine (PDA)-coated Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4@PDA MNPs) were prepared by the co-precipitation method to enrich aflatoxin from edible oil. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer were used to characterize the Fe3O4@PDA MNPs. Using the obtained Fe3O4@PDA MNPs as an adsorbent, a simple method for enriching AFB1 from samples by magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) combined with fluorescence rapid detection was developed. The effects of the ratio of Fe3O4 MNPs to PDA, adsorption dosage, sample volume, adsorption time, and elution time on enrichment of AFB1 were investigated to determine the optimal experimental conditions. This method has good intraday and daytime precision.

Abstract A leaf-disc-test method was used under controlled laboratory conditions to determine the feeding preference of Altica deserticola Latreille (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) on leaves of two liquorice species, Glycyrrhiza inflata Batalin and G. uralensis Fisch. ex DC. Leaf hardness and thickness, cuticle thickness, and nitrogen and tannin contents were compared between the two liquorices to explore their feeding resistance to A. deserticola. The larvae ate only G. uralensis leaves, while the adults fed on the leaves of both species but preferred those of G. inflata. The leaf hardness and thickness and cuticle thickness, as well as the nitrogen, total tannins, tannin chemicals contents in leaves, were significantly greater in G. inflata than in G. uralensis. The larvae having smaller chewing mouthparts could not feed on hard leaves with thick cuticle on both sides. The thicker cuticle and harder texture of G. inflata blades may be important physical traits for effective defence against larval phytophagy, while the higher tannin content in its leaves may be an important chemical trait determining their feeding preference. The larger adults, having stronger mouthparts, could consume nitrogen-richer G. inflata leaves to obtain the energy needed for flight and reproduction.

Resumo Justificativa e objetivos A administração pré‐operatória de Flurbiprofeno Axetil (FA) é amplamente usada para a modulação da analgesia. No entanto, a relação entre FA e fármacos sedativos permanece obscura. Neste estudo, nosso objetivo foi investigar os efeitos de diferentes doses de FA na Concentração Efetiva mediana (CE50) do propofol. Métodos Noventa e seis pacientes (ASA I ou II, com idades de 18–65 anos) foram alocados aleatoriamente em quatro grupos na proporção de 1:1:1:1. Dez minutos antes da indução, o Grupo A (grupo controle) recebeu 10 mL de Intralipid, enquanto os grupos B, C e D receberam FA na dose de 0,5 mg.kg‐1; 0,75 mg.kg‐1 e 1 mg.kg‐1, respectivamente. A profundidade da anestesia foi medida pelo Índice Bispectral (BIS). O método up‐and‐down foi usado para calcular a CE50 do propofol. Durante o período de equilíbrio, se o valor do BIS fosse ≤ 50 ou BIS > 50, o próximo paciente tinha a infusão de propofol ajustada para uma concentração alvo‐controlada 0,5 µg.mL‐1 inferior ou superior, respectivamente. Os dados hemodinâmicos foram registrados no início do estudo, 10 minutos após a administração de FA, após a indução, após a intubação e 15 minutos após a intubação. Resultados A CE50 do propofol foi menor no Grupo C (2,32 µg.mL‐1, Intervalo de Confiança de 95% [95% IC] 1,85–2,75) e D (2,39 µg.mL‐1, 95% IC 1,91–2,67) do que no Grupo A (2,96 µg.mL‐1; 95% IC 2,55–3,33) (p = 0,023, p = 0,048, respectivamente). Não houve diferenças significantes na CE50 entre o Grupo B (2,53 µg.mL‐1, 95% IC 2,33–2,71) e o Grupo A (p > 0,05). Não houve diferenças significantes na Frequência Cardíaca (FC) entre os grupos A, B e C. A FC foi significantemente menor no grupo D do que no grupo A após a intubação (66 ± 6 vs. 80 ± 10 bpm, p < 0,01) e 15 minutos após a intubação (61 ± 4 vs. 70 ± 8 bpm, p < 0,01). Não houve diferenças significantes entre os quatro grupos na Pressão Arterial Média (PAM) em qualquer momento. A PAM dos quatro grupos foi significantemente menor após a indução, após a intubação e 15 minutos após a intubação do que na linha de base (p < 0,05). Conclusão FA em altas doses (0,75 mg.kg‐1 ou 1 mg.kg‐1) reduz a CE50 do propofol, e 1 mg.kg‐1 de FA reduz a FC durante níveis adequados de anestesia em pacientes não estimulados. Embora esse resultado deva ser investigado na presença de estimulação cirúrgica, sugerimos que a pré‐administração de FA pode reduzir a necessidade de propofol durante anestesia cuja profundidade seja monitorada pelo BIS.

Abstract Background and objectives Preoperative use of flurbiprofen axetil (FA) is extensively adopted to modulate the effects of analgesia. However, the relationship between FA and sedation agents remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of different doses of FA on the median Effective Concentration (EC50) of propofol. Methods Ninety-six patients (ASA I or II, aged 18–65 years) were randomly assigned into one of four groups in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. Group A (control group) received 10 mL of Intralipid, and groups B, C and D received 0.5 mg.kg−1, 0.75 mg.kg−1 and 1 mg.kg−1 of FA, respectively, 10 minutes before induction. The depth of anesthesia was measured by the Bispectral Index (BIS). The “up-and-down” method was used to calculate the EC50 of propofol. During the equilibration period, if BIS ≤ 50 (or BIS > 50), the next patient would receive a 0.5 µg.mL−1-lower (or -higher) propofol Target-Controlled Infusion (TCI) concentration. The hemodynamic data were recorded at baseline, 10 minutes after FA administration, after induction, after intubation and 15 minutes after intubation. Results The EC50 of propofol was lower in Group C (2.32 µg.mL−1, 95% Confidence Interval [95% CI] 1.85–2.75) and D (2.39 µg.mL−1, 95% CI 1.91–2.67) than in Group A (2.96 µg.mL−1, 95% CI 2.55–3.33) (p = 0.023, p = 0.048, respectively). There were no significant differences in the EC50 between Group B (2.53 µg.mL−1, 95% CI 2.33–2.71) and Group A (p > 0.05). There were no significant differences in Heart Rate (HR) among groups A, B and C. The HR was significantly lower in Group D than in Group A after intubation (66 ± 6 vs. 80 ± 10 bpm, p < 0.01) and 15 minutes after intubation (61 ± 4 vs. 70 ± 8 bpm, p < 0.01). There were no significant differences among the four groups in Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) at any time point. The MAP of the four groups was significantly lower after induction, after intubation, and 15 minutes after intubation than at baseline (p < 0.05). Conclusion High-dose FA (0.75 mg.kg−1 or 1 mg.kg−1) reduces the EC50 of propofol, and 1 mg.kg−1 FA reduces the HR for adequate anesthesia in unstimulated patients. Although this result should be investigated in cases of surgical stimulation, we suggest that FA pre-administration may reduce the propofol requirement when the depth of anesthesia is measured by BIS.

Heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a clinical syndrome in which patients have symptoms and signs of HF with normal or near-normal left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF ≥50%). Roughly half of all patients with HF worldwide have an LVEF ≥50% and nearly half have an LVEF <50%. Thanks to the increased scientific attention about the condition and improved characterization and diagnostic tools, the incidence of HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) dropped while that of HFpEF has increased by 45%. HFpEF has no single guideline for diagnosis or treatment, the patient population is heterogeneously and inconsistently described, and longitudinal studies are lacking. To better understand and overcome the disease, in this review, we updated the latest knowledge of HFpEF pathophysiology, introduced the existing promising diagnostic methods and treatments, and summarized its prognosis by reviewing the most recent cohort studies.
