ABSTRACT Secondary metabolites of Capsicum spp. have biological activity, which can be modified by external factors as the amount of incident light and soil water availability during crop growing, and by internal factors as fruit ripeness level. The study aim was to determine by HPLC method the phytochemical profile of C. annuum L. var. glabriusculum (Dunal) Heiser & Pickersgill (AMA and GAR genotypes) and C. frutescens L. (PIP genotype) grown under open sky and 70% shade during dry and rainy harvest season. Phytochemicals were affected by genotype, light level, harvest season, and fruit ripeness level. Phytochemicals number changed among genotypes: PIP > AMA> GAR. In immature fruits AMA (4.74 mg g-1) and GAR (3.83 mg g-1) had highest capsaicin content; and PIP (0.43 (g g-1), AMA (0.18 (g g-1) and GAR (0.14 (g g-1) in lutein content in all harvest seasons and light level conditions studied. In mature fruits, PIP had the highest capsaicin (5.77 mg g-1) and β-carotene (0.45 (g g-1) content. Gallic and syringic acids were major constituents of phenolics acids, and quercetin and rutin for flavonoids. Mature and immature fruits from 70% shade showed the quercetin highest content (108.4-160.02 (g g-1), increasing during dry season (180.9-1368.6 (g g-1). Gallic acid (789.3-1076.7 (g g-1) and rutin (114.0 (g g-1) increased in AMA immature fruits when grown under open sky. Ferulic acid was not detected in GAR under any of the conditions studied. In AMA, ferulic, protocatechuic and p-hydroxybenzoic acids were detected only in rainy season fruits in both light levels. The harvest season and shading level of these Capsicum spp. should be considered when evaluating the biological activity of chili peppers fruits extracts in tropical crops.

ABSTRACT Rice (Oryza sativa) is among the most important crops worldwide; however, rice crops demand high water consumption. Future projections indicate reduced water availability and severe drought events, which may affect rice crops as the cereal is highly sensitive to drought stress. Thus, cultivars with lower water demand for irrigation or drought escape capacities are among the strategies to address this issue. This study aimed to assess five mutant rice genotypes in terms of growth cycle length, other agronomic interest traits, and drought response in the reproductive stage. The mutant genotypes evaluated showed a shortening of the growth cycle compared to the original cultivar, BRS Pampeira, representing a drought escape strategy. In addition, mutations did not negatively affect plant height and crop yield. However, similar to the original cultivar, mutants are not tolerant to water deficit in the reproductive stage. The genotypes evaluated have potential to be released as early cycle cultivars, which can reduce water demand during the harvest season while presenting a drought escape strategy. Abstract. An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of various levels of protein and dietary lipids on white snook (Centropomus viridis) performance. A 4 × 2 factorial design was used with 4 protein levels (40%, 46%, 52%, and 58%) and 2 lipid levels (10% and 13%), with 3 replicates per treatment. Fish with an initial weight of 14.80 ± 0.80 g were fed to apparent satiety 3 times a day for 6 weeks. Juvenile growth showed no significant differences among treatments. Feed efficiency was only affected by the protein level in the diet, and the best feed efficiency ratio was obtained with the 52% protein diets; the protein efficiency ratio was significantly lower with the 58% protein diets. The hepatosomatic index decreased with increasing protein content, and the peritoneal fat index increased with dietary lipid level. The condition factor was not affected by the dietary protein or lipid level. Hematocrit and total plasma protein were significantly higher at 40% protein; blood glucose and triglycerides were affected by both nutrients. It is concluded that juvenile C. viridis can be fed diets containing 40% protein and 10% lipids and a protein/energy ratio of 20.69 mg·kJ-1, under the experimental conditions of this study.

Resumen. Se llevó a cabo un experimento para evaluar el efecto de varios niveles de proteína y lípidos dietéticos en el rendimiento de juveniles de robalo blanco (Centropomus viridis). Se realizó un diseño factorial 4 × 2 con 4 niveles de proteína (40%, 46%, 52% y 58%) y 2 niveles de lípidos (10% y 13%), con 3 replicados por tratamiento. Los peces con un peso inicial de 14.80 ± 0.80 g se alimentaron a saciedad aparente 3 veces al día durante 6 semanas. El crecimiento de los juveniles no presentó diferencias significativas entre los tratamientos. La eficiencia alimenticia solo fue afectada por el nivel de proteína en la dieta, y la mejor tasa de eficiencia alimenticia se obtuvo con las dietas con 52% de proteína; el índice de eficiencia proteica fue significativamente menor con las dietas con 58% de proteína. El índice hepatosomático disminuyó al aumentar el contenido de proteína, y el índice de grasa peritoneal aumentó con el nivel de lípidos en la dieta. El factor de condición no fue afectado por el nivel de proteína o lípidos dietéticos. El hematocrito y la proteína total del plasma fueron significativamente mayores con las dietas con 40% de proteína; la glucosa y los triglicéridos en la sangre fueron afectados por ambos nutrientes. Se concluye que los juveniles de C. viridis pueden ser alimentados con dietas que contengan 40% de proteína y 10% de lípidos y una relación proteína/energía de 20.69 mg·kJ-1, bajo las condiciones experimentales de este estudio.

Abstract Introduction: In Mexico, cardiac rehabilitation (CR) as an interdisciplinary intervention with therapeutic impact in patients with heart disease is growing. There is the need to know actual conditions of CR in our country. Objectives: The objective of this National Registry is to follow-up those existing and new CR units in Mexico through the comparison between the two previous registries, RENAPREC-2009 and RENAPREC II-2015 studies. This is a descriptive study focused on diverse CR activities such as assistance training, and certification of health professionals, barriers, reference, population attended, interdisciplinarity, permanence over time, growth prospects, regulations, post-pandemic condition, integrative characteristics, and scientific research. Results: Data were collected from 45 CR centers in the 32 states, 75.5% are private practice units, 67% are new, 33% were part of RENAPREC II-2015, and 17 have continued since 2009. With a better distribution of CR units along the territory, the median reference of candidates for CR programs is 9% with a significant reduction into tiempo of enrollment to Phase II admission (19 ± 11 days). Regarding to previous registries, the coverance of Phases I, II, and III is 71%, 100%, and 93%, respectively; and a coverance increases in evaluation, risk stratification, and prescription, more comprehensive attendance and prevention strategies. Conclusions: CR in Mexico has grown in the past 7 years. Even there is still low reference and heterogeneity in specific processes, there are strengths such as interdisciplinarity, scientific professionalization of specialists, national diversification, and an official society that are consolidated over time.

Abstract: The objective of this article is to analyze the acceptance of m-learning by university teachers in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru. For this, interviews were conducted with twenty university professors from different regions of the country. The results indicate that teachers require digital literacy to effectively implement technologies in their courses. The main challenges were associated with inefficient internet connectivity, which adversely affected the quality of classes, and students' limited access to mobile tools. In conclusion, institutions should provide continuous support to both teachers and students in their adoption of technologies of information and communication to ensure the future acceptance of technology in education.

Resumen: El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la aceptación del m-learning por parte del profesorado universitario en el contexto de la pandemia por COVID-19 en el Perú. Para ello se entrevistaron a veinte docentes de diversas regiones del país. Los resultados muestran que requerían de una alfabetización digital para implementar adecuadamente las tecnologías en sus asignaturas. Los mayores inconvenientes se relacionaron con la ineficiente conectividad a internet, que afectaba la calidad de las clases, y la falta de accesibilidad del estudiantado a herramientas móviles. Se concluye que las instituciones deben realizar un acompañamiento continuo a docentes y estudiantes en su proceso de adopción de tecnologías de la información y la comunicación para que se garantice su aceptación en materia educativa.

Chikungunya fever is caused by an RNA arbovirus belonging to the Togaviridae family of the alphavirus genus, called "chikungunya virus", this virus is vectored by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. In its acute phase, the disease is manifested by fever, arthritis or severe arthralgia, myalgia, headache, photophobia, lymphadenopathy and skin rashes. The symptoms can progress to a subacute to chronic phase, where joint manifestations and fatigue persist. A bibliographic search was carried out in the PubMed, Cochrane, Dovepress and SciELO databases, using the keywords: chikungunya and chikunguña, crossed with the words: chronic arthritis and treatment. A total of 16 articles were included: 6 review articles, 1 systematic review, 4 original articles, 2 clinical trials, 1 letter to Editor letter and 2 case reports. Among the pharmacological options, methotrexate is the most studied drug and competes with the effects of NSAIDs. Non-pharmacological therapies are physiotherapy and physical therapy, used as complements to pharmacological therapy. The use of home therapies, including homeopathy, could also be added, mainly addressing the psychological and cultural factors of the patients.

La fiebre Chikungunya es causada por un arbovirus ARN perteneciente a la familia Togaviridae del género alphavirus, llamado “virus del chikungunya”, este virus tiene como vector el Aedes aegypti y el Aedes albopictus. En su fase aguda la enfermedad se manifiesta por fiebre, artritis o artralgias severas, mialgias, cefalea, fotofobia, linfadenopatías y brotes cutáneos, los síntomas pueden progresar a una fase subaguda hasta crónica, donde persisten las manifestaciones articulares y la fatiga. Se realizó una revisión sistemática en las bases de PubMed, Cochrane, Dovepress y SciELO, utilizando las palabras claves: chikungunya y chikunguña, cruzadas con las palabras: artritis crónica y tratamiento. Se incluyeron en el estudio un total de 16 artículos, 6 artículos de revisión, 4 artículos originales, 2 ensayos clínicos, 2 reportes de caso, 1 revisión sistemática y 1 carta al editor. Entre las opciones farmacológicas, el metotrexato es el fármaco más estudiado y compite con los efectos de los AINE. Como terapias no farmacológicas se encuentran la fisioterapia y la terapia física, utilizados como complementos a la terapia farmacológica. El uso de terapias caseras, incluso la homeopatía, también podrían agregarse, atendiendo principalmente el factor psíquico y cultural de los pacientes.

Abstract Background: Postinfectious bronchiolitis obliterans is a rare lung disease; there are limited reports in South America. Case report: We report 10 patients with this disease diagnosed at the Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño-Breña (Lima-Peru). The median age at diagnosis was 19 months and all patients had a history of severe acute respiratory infection. The most frequent symptoms were cough, respiratory distress, wheezing, and hypoxemia. The mosaic attenuation pattern was the most frequent on the tomography. All the patients had positive serology for adenovirus. The treatment received was methylprednisolone pulses, azithromycin, hydroxychloroquine, and inhaled corticosteroids. No patient died during the follow-up. Conclusions: In previously healthy children with a history of severe acute respiratory infection and persistent bronchial obstructive symptoms, the diagnosis of postinfectious bronchiolitis obliterans should be considered. This is the first report in Peru with a therapeutic regimen adapted to our institution.

Resumen Introducción: La bronquiolitis obliterante postinfecciosa es una enfermedad pulmonar poco frecuente; existen limitados reportes en Sudamérica. Caso clínico: En esta serie se reportan 10 pacientes con esta enfermedad diagnosticados en el Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño-Breña (Lima-Perú). La mediana de edad al diagnóstico fue de 19 meses. Todos los pacientes presentaron el antecedente de infección respiratoria aguda grave. Los síntomas más frecuentes fueron tos, dificultad respiratoria, sibilancias e hipoxemia; el patrón de atenuación en mosaico fue la característica más frecuente en la tomografía. Todos tenían serología positiva para adenovirus. Se administró tratamiento con pulsos de metilprednisolona, azitromicina, hidroxicloroquina y corticoides inhalados. Ningún paciente falleció durante el seguimiento. Conclusiones: En los niños previamente sanos con antecedente de infección respiratoria aguda grave y sintomatología obstructivo bronquial persistente se debe considerar el diagnóstico de bronquiolitis obliterante postinfecciosa. Este es el primer reporte en Perú con un régimen terapéutico adaptado a nuestra institución.

Resumen Antecedentes: Capsicum spp. crecen en ambientes con diferente radiación incidente, lo que podría modificar el crecimiento de las plantas y la concentración de fitoquímicos en frutos. Hipótesis: El sombreado afecta positivamente la fenología y el rendimiento de frutos, disminuye los contenidos de fenoles (TPC), flavonoides (FLV), proantocianidinas (PAN) y carotenoides (CAT) en frutos de Capsicum silvestres. Especies de estudio: Capsicum annuum var. glabriusculum: amashito (AMA) and garbanzo (GAR), y C. frutescens (Pico Paloma, PIP) Sitio y años de estudio: Huimanguillo, Tabasco, Mexico; 2020 y 2021. Métodos: Las semillas fueron tratadas con ácido giberélico (GA3) (500 mg L-1 ) por 24 h antes de siembra. Las plántulas fueron trasplantadas a campo abierto y bajo dos niveles de sombreado (35 y 70 %), bajo un diseño de parcelas divididas con cuatro repeticiones. TPC, FLV, PAN y CAT fueron determinados en frutos por espectrofotometría UV-vis. Resultados: El sombreado aceleró los procesos fenológicos desde la primera bifurcación del tallo, y disminuyó el tiempo para maduración de frutos desde antesis. El sombreado incrementó el rendimiento en el genotipo AMA, pero redujo TPC, FLV, y CAT en frutos; estos metabolitos incrementaron su contenido a campo abierto. Conclusiones: La sombra redujo la duración de estados fenológicos incluyendo el período de maduración de frutos, y aumentó la altura de planta en Capsicum spp. El incremento en rendimiento por efecto de sombreado solo se observó en el genotipo AMA. El contenido de fitoquímicos en frutos se reduce con el sombreado.

Abstract Background: Capsicum spp. grow in environments with different incident radiation, that could modify the plant growth and the concentration of phytochemicals in fruits. Hypothesis: Shading positively affects phenology and fruit yield, decreases the total contents of phenols (TPC), flavonoids (FLV), proanthocyanidins (PAN) and carotenoids (CAT) in fruits of wild Capsicum species. Studied species: Capsicum annuum var. glabriusculum: amashito (AMA) and garbanzo (GAR), and C. frutescens (Pico paloma, PIP) Study site and dates: Huimanguillo, Tabasco, Mexico; 2020 and 2021. Methods: Seeds were treated with gibberellic acid (GA3) (500 mg L-1) for 24 h prior to seeding. The seedlings were transplanted in an open field and under two levels of shade (35 and 70 %) under a subsplit plot design with four replicates. TPC, FLV, PAN and CAT were determinate in immature and ripe fruits by UV-vis spectrophotometry. Results: Shade accelerated the phenological processes from the first bifurcation of the stem, and decreased the fruits ripening time from anthesis of the genotypes studied. Shade only increased the yield of the AMA genotype and reduced the contents of TPC, FLV, and CAT; however, these metabolites increased under open field conditions. Conclusions: The shade reduced the duration of phenological stages including the ripening period of fruits, and increased the plant height of the Capsicum spp. The increase in yield by shading effect only was observed in AMA genotype. The content of phytochemicals in Capsicum fruits is reduced by shading levels.

Resumo Introdução: A deiscência anastomótica (DA) é uma complicação grave no pós-operatório precoce da esofagectomia e gastrectomia total, pela sua elevada mortalidade. As próteses metálicas autoexpansíveis (PMAE) desempenham um papel fundamental no tratamento das DA. Na literatura, há apenas um caso descrito sobre a utilização de um Mega-Stent no contexto de DA, que não complicação bariátrica. Os autores reportam uma série de dois casos com diferente aplicação do Mega-Stent esofágico no tratamento de DA. Descrição do caso: Caso 1: Homem de 67 anos, submetido a esofagectomia por carcinoma epidermóide do esófago distal. O período pós-operatório precoce foi complicado de DA com fístula gastro-pleural. Inicialmente foi colocado um clip OTSC no orifício da deiscência com insucesso técnico e clínico, sendo posteriormente utilizado o Mega-Stent, posicionado desde o esófago até ao bulbo duodenal. Estudos contrastados posteriores confirmaram resolução da DA. Caso 2: Mulher de 86 anos, submetida a gastrectomia total com reconstrução em Y-Roux e esofagojejunostomia por adenocarcinoma gástrico, complicada de DA. Neste contexto foi colocada uma PMAE parcialmente coberta (PMAE-PC) sobre a área da anastomose. A tomografia computorizada subsequente demonstrou persistência de extravasamento. Foi colocada uma segunda PMAE-PC, com posterior resolução da DA. Semanas depois, ambas as PMAE-PC apresentavam tecido de granulação nos topos, tendo sido colocado o Mega-Stent (técnica stent-in-stent) e decorridas duas semanas, todas as próteses foram facilmente extraídas, confirmando-se sucesso no tratamento da DA. Discussão/conclusão: A utilização de PMAE nas DA constitui uma técnica terapêutica segura e bem estabelecida, contudo passível de apresentar limitações tais como a migração ou incapacidade de cobrir totalmente DA de maiores dimensões. O Mega-Stent esofágico pode constituir uma ferramenta útil na terapêutica endoscópica destes doentes.

Abstract Introduction: Anastomotic leak (AL) is a dangerous complication in the early postoperative period after total gastrectomy or esophagectomy being associated with high mortality. Self-expandable metal stents (SEMS) play a significant role in AL management. Only one case report described the use of Mega-Stent in AL setting. The authors report a two-case series with different applications of a Niti-S esophageal Mega-Stent in AL management. Case Report: Case 1 is a 67-year-old male who underwent an esophagectomy due to a squamous cell carcinoma of the distal esophagus. The early postoperative period was complicated with AL and gastropleural fistula. Initially, an OTSC was deployed in the dehiscence but failed to resolve AL. The esophageal Mega-Stent was further placed in-between the esophagus and the bulbus. Post-stenting contrast studies confirmed no further AL. Case 2 is an 86-year-old woman who underwent total gastrectomy with roux-en-y esophagojejunostomy due to a gastric adenocarcinoma, complicated with AL. A partially covered metal stent (PCMS) was placed to cover the anastomosis. Computed tomography confirmed leakage persistence and a second PCMS was deployed, resolving the AL. Several weeks later, both PCMSs presented ingrowth from granulation tissue. An esophageal Mega-Stent was placed (stent-in-stent technique) and 2 weeks later, all stents were removed, with no AL recurrence. Discussion/Conclusion: SEMS placement for AL is a safe, well-established therapeutic technique. Limitations include stent migration and incomplete cover of large AL. Mega-Stent can be an emerging tool for endoscopic AL management.

Resumen: El Pediatric Index of Mortality 3 (PIM3) es una escala que estima el riesgo de mortalidad en niños ingresados a Unidad de Cuidado Intensivo Pediátrico (UCIP) en la primera hora del ingreso. Objetivo: validar la escala PIM3 en población pediátrica que ingresa a UCIP en alturas sobre los 2.500 metros sobre el nivel del mar (m.s.n.m.), y evaluar si el lactato y el índice Saturación de Oxígeno/Fracción inspirada de oxígeno (SpO2/FiO2) mejoran su capacidad de predicción de mortalidad. Pacientes y Método: Estudio prospectivo multicéntrico realizado en diez UCIP de Colombia entre noviembre de 2016 y junio de 2017. Se recolectaron variables para cálculo del PIM3, lactato sérico y el índice SpO2/FiO2. Se validó su capacidad de discriminación con el área bajo la curva ROC y la calibración mediante la prueba de bondad de ajuste de Hosmer Lemeshow. Resultados: Se incluyeron 2.803 registros de admisiones, con una mortalidad global de 4,8%, y razón estandarizada de mortalidad de 1,1 (IC95%; 1,00-1,3). El PIM3 mostró una baja calibración (p < 0,001) y una adecuada discriminación para la población aplicada (ROC 0,84; IC95% 0,83-0,86). La adición de lactato sérico y SpO2/ FiO2 permitieron una buena calibración (p = 0,75), y mantuvo una alta discriminación de mortalidad (ROC 0,86; IC95% 0,84-0,87). Conclusiones: El comportamiento de la escala PIM3 tiene adecuada discriminación, pero una baja calibración en niños admitidos a UCIP sobre los 2500 m.s.n.m.. Las variables lactato y SpO2/FiO2 mejoraron su habilidad predictiva.

Abstract: The Pediatric Index of Mortality 3 (PIM3) is a scale that estimates the risk of mortality in children admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within the first hour of admission. Objective: to validate the PIM3 scale in pediatric population admitted to PICU at altitudes over 2,500 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.), and to evaluate whether lactate and the oxygen saturation/fraction of inspired oxygen (SpO2/FiO2) index improve its ability to predict mortality. Patients and Method: A prospective multicenter study was carried out in 10 PICUs in Colombia between November 2016 and June 2017. Variables were collected for the calculation of PIM3, serum lactate, and SpO2/FiO2 index. Their discrimination capacity was validated with the area under the ROC curve and calibration using the Hosmer Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test. Results: 2,803 admissions were included, with an overall mortality of 4.8% and a standardized mortality ratio of 1.1 (95%CI 1.00-1.3). PIM3 showed low calibration (p < 0.001) and adequate discrimination for the studied population (ROC 0.84; 95%CI 0.83-0.86). The addition of serum lactate and SpO2/FiO2 allowed a good calibration (p = 0.75) and maintained a high discrimination of mortality (ROC 0.86; 95%CI 0.84-0.87). Conclusions: The performance of the PIM3 scale has adequate discrimination, but low calibration in children admitted to PICU at above 2500 m. a. s. l. Lactate and SpO2/FiO2 variables improved its predictive ability.

ABSTRACT The primates that inhabit the rainforest surrounding the city of Manaus (Amazonas, Brazil) have long been recognised as potentially important reservoirs of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases (ERIDs). PCR amplification of filarial sequences from wild-caught Simulium oyapockense has been used to incriminate potentially important Amazon-region ERID bridge vectors by showing they had previously fed on non-human primates. The broader use of filarial parasite sequences for the incrimination of biting insects as potentially important zoonotic disease vectors is limited by a paucity of primate-derived filarial parasite reference sequences which can be matched to the PCR amplified sequences obtained from insect-vector vectors. Here we have used shotgun sequencing to obtain reference data from an adult Dipetalonema gracile parasite which was found infecting a wild pied tamarin (Saguinus bicolor) in a peripheral region of Manaus. We report the parasite´s complete mitochondrial genome (which is 13,647 base pairs in length), 894,846 base pairs of its Wolbachia genome and 6,426 base pairs of its ribosomal DNA locus (spanning from the start of its 18S subunit to the end of its 28S subunit). Despite being critically endangered, S. bicolor is commonly encountered around the periphery of Manaus and in urban forest fragments. The reported sequences may be a useful reference tool for identifying ERID bridge vectors and potentially provide some insights into the amount and the nature of contact between primate pathogen reservoirs and the residents of Manaus.

RESUMO Os primatas que habitam a floresta tropical ao redor da cidade de Manaus (Amazonas, Brasil) há muito são reconhecidos como reservatórios potencialmente importantes de doenças infecciosas emergentes e reemergentes. Sequências de DNA de parasitas filariais detectadas por PCR em amostras de Simulium oyapockense foram usadas para demonstrar que eles haviam se alimentado anteriormente de primatas não humanos e, dessa maneira, incriminar vetores-ponte da região amazônica. O uso mais amplo de detecção de parasitas filariais para a incriminação de vetores-ponte é limitado por uma escassez de sequências referência de parasitas filarias obtidas de hospedeiros. Aqui nós usamos o sequenciamento tipo shotgun para obter dados de referência de um parasita adulto Dipetalonema gracile encontrado infectando um sauim-de-coleira, Saguinus bicolor no entorno de Manaus. Relatamos o genoma mitocondrial completo do parasita (que tem 13.647 pares de bases de comprimento), 894.846 pares de bases de seu genoma de Wolbachia e 6.426 pares de bases de seu locus de DNA ribossômico (desde o início de sua subunidade 18S até o final de sua subunidade 28S). Apesar de criticamente ameaçado, S. bicolor é comumente encontrado no entorno de Manaus e em fragmentos florestais urbanos. As sequências relatadas podem ser uma ferramenta de referência útil para identificar vetores ponte e potencialmente fornecer algumas informações sobre o contato entre reservatórios de patógenos de primatas e os moradores de Manaus.

Resumen Las abejas sin aguijón juegan un papel importante para mantener el equilibrio de los ecosistemas en los que habitan al participar activamente en la polinización de la mayoría de las plantas con flores. El objetivo de este estudio fue caracterizar fisicoquímicamente la miel de Scaptotrigona mexicana de Fortín de las Flores, Cañada Blanca y Manuel León, en Veracruz, México, recolectada en 2017 y 2018. El experimento tuvo una distribución completamente al azar con diseño factorial, con los factores lugar y año de muestreo. El análisis de varianza mostró que la interacción de los factores afectó la actividad de agua, pero no el contenido de hidroximetilfurfural. En la miel de Fortín de las Flores se observaron mayores valores de color, conductividad eléctrica, pH, acidez de lactona y acidez total. El año con los valores más altos registrados de los parámetros medidos fue el 2017. Los datos indican buena calidad de miel joven y que los valores más altos de las variables medidas se observaron en Fortín de las Flores.

Abstract Stingless bees play an important role in maintaining the balance of the ecosystems they inhabit by actively participating in the pollination of most flowering plants. The objective of this study was to characterize physicochemically honey from the stingless bee species Scaptotrigona mexicana from Fortín de las Flores, Cañada Blanca, and Manuel León, in Veracruz, Mexico, collected in 2017 and 2018. The experimental design was completely randomized, with two factors: location and year of sampling. The analysis of variance showed that the interaction of factors affected water activity, but not hydroxymethylfurfural content. In honey from Fortín de las Flores, greater values for color, electrical conductivity, pH, lactone acidity, and total acidity were observed. The year with the highest recorded values of the measured parameters was 2017. The data obtained indicate Good quality of young honey and that the highest values of the measured variables were observed in Fortín de las Flores.

Resumen El estado de Tabasco es principal productor de palma de aceite. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue generar una dosis de fertilización por subunidad de suelo y un rendimiento potencial para la palma de aceite. Se utilizó la metodología del Sistema Integrado para Recomendar Dosis de Fertilizantes (SIRDF). Se obtuvieron ocho polígonos de Thiessen, los cuales se agruparon en polígonos de baja (1 281 a 1 623 mm), mediana (1 830 a 1 977 mm) y alta precipitación (> 2 044 mm). Además de 13 subunidades de suelos, de las cuales 11 están cultivadas con palma de aceite: Leptosol Réndzico (Húmico), Luvisol Gléyico (Arcíllico, Éutrico, Diferéntico), Acrisol Gléyico Crómico (Éutrico, Francoso, Cutánico, Diferéntico), Calcisol Pétrico Cámbico (Francoso, Rúptico), Cambisol Gléyico Éutrico (Francoso), Phaeozem Réndzico Léptico Cámbico (Arcíllico), Vertisol Pélico (Gléyico, Mesotrófico, Estágnico), Fluvisol Gléyico Calcárico (Arcíllico), Gleysol Oxigléyico Dístrico (Arcíillico, Vértico), Lixisol Abrúptico (Arcíllico, Cutánico), y Arenosol Dístrico (Alúmico). El análisis de suelos indica de mediana a baja fertilidad con deficiencia de N, P, K, Ca, Fe, Zn, Cu, y B. Se generó la dosis de fertilizante para cada subunidad de suelo y para tres escenarios de rendimiento de fruta fresca. Se generó la recomendación de macro y micro nutrimentos para lograr una fertilización balanceada de la palma de aceite y su forma de aplicación.

Abstract The cultivation of oil palm in the state of Tabasco is the main producer. The objective of this work was to generate a fertilization dose per soil subunit and a potential yield for oil palm. The methodology of the Integrated System to Recommend Fertilizer Doses (SIRDF) was used. Eight Thiessen polygons were obtained, which were grouped into low (1 281 to 1 623 mm), medium (1 830 to 1 977 mm) and high precipitation (>2 044 mm) polygons. In addition to 13 soil subunits, of which only 11 are cultivated with oil palm: Leptosol Réndzico (Humic), Luvisol Gléyico (Arcíllico, Eutrico, Diferéntico), Acrisol Gléyico Crómico (Eutrico, Loamy, Cutánico, Diferéntico), Calcisol Pétrico Cambic (Franky, Ruptic), Gleyic Eutric (Franky) Cambisol, Phaeozem Réndzic Leptic Cambic (Arcyllic), Pelic Vertisol (Gleyic, Mesotrophic, Stagnin), Gleyic Calcaric (Arcyllic) Fluvisol, Oxygleyic Dystric (Arcyllic, Vertic) Gleysol, Abruptic Lixisol (Claylic, Cutanic), and Dystric Arenosol (Aluminic). Soil analysis indicates medium to low fertility with deficiencies of N, P, K, Ca, Fe, Zn, Cu, and B. The fertilizer dose was generated for each soil subunit and for three fresh fruit yield scenarios. Recommendations for macro and micronutrients were generated to achieve a balanced fertilization of the oil palm and its form of application.

Resumen Introducción: La prevención, identificación, análisis y reducción de los eventos adversos (EA), son actividades direccionadas a incrementar la seguridad de la atención en el entorno clínico. El estudio de los casos cerrados es una estrategia que permite identificar problemas relacionados con la seguridad del paciente. En este estudio se analizan eventos adversos conducentes a procesos medicolegales cerrados contra anestesiólogos afiliados a un fondo de aseguramiento en Colombia entre 2013-2019. Objetivo: Analizar los eventos adversos en procesos medicolegales cerrados de anestesiólogos afiliados a un fondo de aseguramiento entre 2013-2019. Métodos: Estudio observacional de corte transversal. Se analizó una muestra a conveniencia en la que se incluyeron todos los casos cerrados en los que anestesiólogos afiliados a un fondo de aseguramiento en Colombia fueron objeto de reclamaciones en el período de observación. Se analizaron variables relacionadas con la presentación del EA. Resultados: Se analizaron 71 reclamaciones, de las cuales el 33,5 % fueron por EA relacionado con anestesia. Los eventos adversos se encontraron con mayor frecuencia en pacientes ASA I-II (78,9 %), y en procedimientos quirúrgicos (95,8 %). El mayor número de eventos adversos se presentó en cirugía plástica (29,6 %); el evento de mayor proporción fue el fallecimiento del paciente (43,7 %). En un importante número de casos se demostró fallos en el registro de la historia clínica e incumplimiento de normas. Conclusiones: En relación con un estudio publicado previamente en la misma población, se encuentra un incremento en los procesos éticos, disciplinarios y administrativos, motivados por eventos sin una relación directa con el acto anestésico. La mayoría de eventos adversos relacionados con anestesia se presentan en procedimientos quirúrgicos, en salas de cirugía, en pacientes y procedimientos catalogados como de bajo riesgo, y son en su mayoría prevenibles.

Closed claims reviews are a strategy that allows to identify patient safety issues. This study analyzes adverse events resulting in malpractice lawsuits against anesthesiologists affiliated to an insurance fund in Colombia between 2013-2019. Objective: To analyze adverse events in closed medicolegal lawsuits against anesthesiologists affiliated to an insurance fund between 2013-2019. Methods: Cross-sectional observational study. Convenience sampling was used, including all closed claims in which anesthesiologists affiliated to an insurance fund in Colombia were sued during the observation period. Variables associated with the occurrence of AEs were analyzed. Results: Overall, 71 claims were analyzed, of which 33.5% were due to anesthesia-related AEs. Adverse events were found more frequently among ASA I-II patients (78.9%), and in surgical procedures (95.8%). The highest number of adverse events occurred in plastic surgery (29.6%); the event with the highest proportion was patient death (43.7%). Flaws in clinical records and failure to comply with the standards were found in a substantial number of cases. Conclusions: When compared with a previously published study in the same population, an increase in ethical, disciplinary and administrative claims was found, driven by events not directly related to anesthesia. Most of the anesthesia-related events occurred in the operating room during surgical procedures in patients and procedures categorized as low risk, and most of them were preventable.
