ABSTRACT The aim of this study was twofold: (a) to verify the effects of different periods of Menstrual Cycle (MC) (menstrual and non-menstrual) of women who use (users) or did not use (non-users) oral contraceptive (OC); (b) to compare the influence of the use of different doses of OCs at these MC moments. Two groups, women who did not use OC (NCG = 13) and women who use OC (CG = 13). The participants were assessed on the 1st or 2nd day of their menstrual period and the 14th or 15th day post-menstrual period. The Peak Torque (PT) and work (W) variables were evaluated at all MC moments. To compare the estrogen dosage, CG was subdivided into two subgroups, (ULCG = 6) that used ultra-low doses of estrogen and a group (LCG = 7) that used low. No interaction (group x period) was observed for PTisometric (F=0.170, p=0.687), PTconcentric (F=0.495, p=0.495) and PTeccentric (F=0.348, p=0.566), Wconcentric (F=0.001, p=0.971) and Weccentric (F=0.075, p=0.790). In addition, no significant interactions (dose x period) were observed in the torque parameters between women who used OC at different estrogen dosages (PTisometric: F=0.803, p=0.411; PTconcentric: F=0.548, p=0.492; PTeccentric: F=0.239, p=0.645; Wconcentric: F=0.030, p=0.869, Weccentric: F=0.027, p=0.876). In conclusion, using or not using OC seems to have no effect on torque parameters at the different moments of MC. Furthermore, the different doses of the OCs did not seem to promote effects on torque and work during MC.

RESUMO O objetivo foi analisar o perfil das teses e seus artigos em relação às áreas de concentração do PPGEF/UFSC. Analisaram-se 103 teses e 196 artigos (2009-2019), das áreas: Biodinâmica do Desempenho Humano (BDH), Teoria e Prática Pedagógica (TPP) e Atividade Física e Saúde (AFS). Dentre as teses defendidas, predominaram as temáticas relacionadas às suas próprias áreas de concentração, pesquisas quantitativas, de campo, de levantamento e experimentais. Referente aos artigos, verificou-se maior publicação em periódicos de estrato A do WebQualis/CAPES e com fator de impacto especialmente na BDH e AFS. Conclui-se que o PPGEF/UFSC tem gerado conhecimento satisfatório e diversificado nas três áreas, com crescente defesa de teses e produção de artigos de qualidade.

ABSTRACT The aim was to analyze the profile of the dissertations and their articles in the PPGEF/UFSC areas of concentration. 103 dissertations and 196 articles (2009-2019) were analyzed, from the areas: Biodynamics of Human Performance (BHP), Theory and Pedagogical Practice (TPP) and Physical Activity and Health (PAH). Among the dissertations, themes related to their own areas of concentration, quantitative, field, survey and experimental research predominated. Regarding the articles, there was a greater publication in WebQualis/CAPES stratum A journals and with impact factor especially in BDH and AFS. It is concluded that the PPGEF/UFSC has generated satisfactory and diversified knowledge in the three areas, with increasing defense of dissertations and production of quality articles.

Resumen El objetivo fue analizar el perfil de las tesis y sus artículos en las áreas de concentración del PPGEF/UFSC. Se analizaron 103 tesis y 196 artículos (2009-2019), de las áreas: Biodinámica del Rendimiento Humano (BRH), Teoría y Práctica Pedagógica (TPP) y Actividad Física y Salud (AFS). Entre las tesis defendidas, predominaron los temas relacionados con sus propias áreas de concentración, investigaciones cuantitativas, de campo, encuesta e experimental. Con respecto a los artículos, hubo una mayor publicación en revistas del estrato A en WebQualis/CAPES y con factor de impacto en BDH y AFS. Se concluye que el PPGEF/UFSC ha generado un conocimiento satisfactorio y diversificado en las tres áreas, con una defensa cada vez mayor de tesis y la producción de artículos de calidad.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the effect of a concurrent training session (CT) with different intensities in post-exercise blood pressure responses in normotensive adults. Ten normotensive adult males (30.7 ± 4.1 years) participated in this study, they performed four experimental protocols: a) Strength Training (ST) at 50% of 1RM and aerobic training (AT) between 50-60% of the Working Heart Rate (WHR); b) ST at 50% of 1RM and AT between 80-90% of the WHR; c) ST at 85% of 1RM and AT between 50-60% of the WHR; d) ST at 85% of 1RM and AT between 80-90% of the WHR. Every protocol presented a decrease in the systolic blood pressure (SBP) 1 minute after finishing the training session, however, only the protocol with the intensity of 50% 1RM and 80-90% WHR presented a significant hypotensive effect (p ≤ 0.05). None of the protocols presented a significant decrease in the diastolic blood pressure. We concluded that the hypotensive effect in the SBP can be observed when the CT is performed at the intensity of 50% of 1RM and of 80-90% of the WHR.

Resumo A proposta deste estudo foi investigar a prevalência de lesões na ginástica artística masculina de alto rendimento. Vinte ginastas brasileiros da categoria adulta, com 23,1 ± 6,5 anos, 13,9 ± 5,0 anos de prá- tica no esporte e 36,5 ± 4,7 horas de treino semanais, participaram do estudo. Os atletas responderam o questionário de lesões referidas, formulado a partir de estudos da literatura, para obter informações sobre as características e circunstâncias das lesões. Foram considerados dados sobre o aparelho ou evento do treinamento em que ocorreu a lesão, o local anatômico lesionado, o tecido biológico afetado e o retorno às atividades após a lesão. Os dados foram avaliados por meio de estatística descritiva, a partir das frequências absolutas e relativas. A sobrecarga de treinamento e os aparelhos solo, cavalo com alças e salto sobre a mesa foram os eventos com maior frequência de lesões. Em relação ao local anatômico, tornozelo, mãos/dedos e ombro foram as regiões mais citadas. Os tecidos ligamentares e ósseo, bem como a cápsula articular foram os tecidos biológicos mais afetados. Em relação ao retorno às atividades, 56% relataram melhora, 33% reportaram retorno ao mesmo nível prévio à lesão e 10% relataram piora do desempenho após retorno às atividades. As lesões na ginástica artística masculina estão associadas às demandas mecânicas do esporte. A análise dos fatores de risco contribui no entendimento dos mecanismos das lesões na ginástica, bem como pode auxiliar em estratégias efetivas de prevenção.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the injuries prevalence in men elite artistic gymnasts. Twenty Brazilian senior gymnasts, aged 23.1 ± 6.5 years, 13.9 ± 5.0 years of practice and 36.5 ± 4.7 hours per week training, participated in this study. The athletes answered a morbidity questionnaire, formulated according to studies from the literature, for information on the injuries’ characteristics and circumstances. Information about the injury circumstances (gymnastic apparatus, overload training and physical exercises), the anatomic site injured, the affect biological tissue and the return to training after injury treatment were evaluated. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, absolute and relative frequencies. The training overload, and floor, pommel horse and vault were the events that presented higher injuries frequency. In relation to anatomic site, ankle, hands/fingers and shoulder were the most cited regions. The ligament, bone and articular capsule were the most affected biological tissues. In relation to gymnasts’ return to their sports activities, 56% of them reported a better condition at return, 33% reported to have returned at the same fitness level and 10% indicated that they were in a worse condition when they returned to the sports activities. The men’s artistic gymnastics injuries are related to the mechanical demands of this sport. The analysis of risk factors helps in understanding the injuries mechanisms in gymnastics, and provides relevant information that can assist in effective prevention strategies.
