ABSTRACT Copper is an essential element for beet; however, it needs to be made available in adequate quantities since this nutrient, which is a heavy metal, can cause toxicity to plants and/or humans. This study aimed to evaluate the agronomic performance of beet fertigated with copper in a semi-arid region of Brazil. Two experiments were carried out in complete randomized blocks, with five treatments (0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.0, and 6.0 kg ha-1 of copper) and four replicates. In 2019, the copper content was within the adequate range for beet. In 2021, fertigation with copper above 0.8 kg ha-1 led to contents in the phytotoxicity range, which may explain the reduction in total and tuberous root dry mass accumulation. Fertilization with copper increased marketable yield in 2019 (17.32 t ha-1 at the dose of 3.9 kg ha-1 of copper), while, in 2021, there was no fit of the equations. Copper fertilization altered the tuberous root pH but did not influence the other tuberous root quality components. Plants fertilized with copper accumulated more copper in the leaves than in the tuberous root, with a maximum accumulation of 6.0 kg ha-1 of copper in 2019 and 2021. Fertilization with 3.9 kg ha-1 suits soils with low copper content.

RESUMO O cobre é um elemento essencial à beterraba, no entanto, é necessário disponibilizá-lo em quantidade adequada uma vez que esse nutriente, que é um metal pesado, pode causar toxicidade às plantas e, ou, ao ser humano. Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo avaliar o desempenho agronômico de beterraba fertirrigada com cobre em uma região semiárida do Brasil. Foram conduzidos dois experimentos em delineados em blocos casualizados ao acaso, com cinco tratamentos (0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 e 6.0 kg ha-1 de cobre) e quatro repetições. Em 2019, o teor de cobre estava dentro da faixa adequada para a beterraba. Em 2021, a fertirrigação com cobre acima de 0.8 kg ha-1 proporcionou teores na faixa de fitotoxicidade, o que pode explicar a redução no acúmulo de massa seca total e de raízes tuberosas. A adubação com cobre aumentou a produtividade comercial em 2019 (17.32 t ha-1 na dose de 3.9 kg ha-1 de cobre) enquanto que, em 2021, não houve modelo ajustado. A adubação alterou o pH da raiz tuberosa, mas não influenciou nos demais atributos de qualidade pós-colheita da raiz tuberosa. Plantas adubadas com cobre acumularam mais cobre nas folhas do que na raiz tuberosa, com máxima acumulada em 2019 e em 2021, na dose 6.0 kg ha-1 de cobre. A adubação com 3.9 kg ha-1 é adequada para solos com baixo teor de cobre.

ABSTRACT The collapse of the Fundão Dam in Mariana, MG, in 2015 introduced the challenge of using Technosol, a soil type formed by deposition of iron mining waste along the Doce River banks, for agricultural purposes. This study aimed to determine the optimal water depth for enhancing production of tropical forage, Megathyrsus maximus cv. Mombasa, when grown on iron ore tailings. Additionally, it sought to establish a crop coefficient applicable to the edaphoclimatic conditions of Viçosa, MG, Brazil. The experiment was conducted throughout the summer, fall, and winter of 2022, employing 21 drainage lysimeters. A completely randomized experimental design was adopted, featuring six treatment groups (plants in Technosol receiving water depths ranging from 20 to 120% of the crop’s evapotranspiration, as derived from the control treatment), along with a control group (plants in Latosol with a depth of 100%), each with three repetitions. Our findings showed that irrigation must replace 40% of the crop evapotranspiration. Moreover, cultivating in Technosol resulted in a reduction of productive capacity by 37.39% during the summer/fall and fall seasons. For Mombasa grass grown in Oxisol, crop coefficients of 1.2 during the summer and 1.5 during the fall and winter are advised.

RESUMO O rompimento da Barragem do Fundão em Mariana, MG, ocorrida em 2015, trouxe o desafio de usar o Tecnossolo (tipo de solo) formado pela deposição do rejeito de mineração de ferro nas margens do Rio Doce para agricultura. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi obter a lâmina de água para otimizar a produção da forragem tropical Megathyrsus maximum cv. Mombaça, cultivada em rejeito de mineração de ferro e determinar seu coeficiente de cultura para as condições edafoclimáticas de Viçosa, MG. O experimento foi realizado durante as estações de verão, outono e inverno do ano de 2022, com a utilização de 21 lisímetros de drenagem. O experimento foi distribuído em delineamento inteiramente casualizado com 6 tratamentos (plantas em Tecnossolo com lâminas variando de 20 a 120% da evapotranspiração da cultura, obtida do tratamento-testemunha) e adição de uma testemunha (plantas em Latossolo com lâmina de 100%) com três repetições. Recomenda-se irrigação com reposição de 40% da evapotranspiração da cultura. O cultivo em Tecnossolo diminuiu a capacidade produtiva em 37,39% nos ciclos das estações do verão/outono e outono. Recomenda-se os coeficientes de cultura de 1,2 no verão e 1,5 no outono e no inverno, para o capim-Mombaça cultivado em um Latossolo.

Abstract Systemic Arterial Hypertension is a multifactorial clinical condition associated with severe outcomes such as stroke and death. One of the main modifiable risk factor for hypertension is an unhealthy diet, often characterized by the consumption of ultraprocessed foods such as sweetened beverages. We aimed to investigate the relationship between the consumption of sweetened beverages, both sugar-sweetened and artificially sweetened, and the prevalence of hypertension in adults. A cross-sectional, household, population-based study with 1,162 adults from two Brazilian cities were carried out. The consumption of food groups and sweetened beverages was obtained by food frequency questionnaire and other data were self-reported. Weight, height, and waist circumference were measured. The association between sweetened beverages consumption and hypertension was analyzed using Poisson regression models, expressed as Prevalence Ratio. The prevalence of hypertension was 16.7%, with no significant difference between genders. The prevalence of consumption of sweetened beverages was 70.3% in men and 54.6% in women, being significantly higher in men. Women who consumed sugar-sweetened and artificially sweetened beverages 6 to 7 days per week had 92% higher prevalence of hypertension compared to those who did not consume or consumed at a lower frequency. Furthermore, women who consumed artificially sweetened beverages at least 1 time per week had 3.36 times higher prevalence of hypertension. The habitual consumption of sweetened beverages may be an important risk factor for hypertension, especially the consumption of diet beverages, which are often marketed as healthier than sugar-sweetened beverages.

Resumen La Hipertensión Arterial Sistémica es una condición clínica multifactorial asociada a resultados graves como el ictus y la muerte. Uno de los principales factores de riesgo modificables de la hipertensión es una dieta poco saludable, a menudo caracterizada por el consumo de alimentos ultraprocesados como las bebidas endulzadas. Nuestro objetivo fue investigar la relación entre el consumo de bebidas endulzadas, tanto azucaradas como edulcoradas artificialmente, y la prevalencia de hipertensión en adultos. Se realizó un estudio transversal, domiciliario y poblacional con 1,162 adultos de dos ciudades brasileñas. El consumo de grupos de alimentos y bebidas endulzadas se obtuvo mediante cuestionario de frecuencia de alimentos y los demás datos fueron autoinformados. Se midieron el peso, la talla y el perímetro de la cintura. La asociación entre el consumo de bebidas endulzadas y la hipertensión se analizó mediante modelos de regresión de Poisson, expresados como Ratio de Prevalencia. La prevalencia de hipertensión fue del 16,7%, sin diferencias significativas entre géneros. La prevalencia de consumo de bebidas endulzadas fue del 70,3% en los hombres y del 54,6% en las mujeres, siendo significativamente mayor en los hombres. Las mujeres que consumían bebidas azucaradas y edulcoradas artificialmente entre 6 y 7 días a la semana tenían 92% mayor prevalencia de hipertensión que las que no consumían o consumían con una frecuencia menor. Además, las mujeres que consumían bebidas edulcoradas al menos 1 vez por semana tenían una prevalencia de hipertensión 3,36 veces mayor. Así pues, el consumo habitual de bebidas endulzadas puede ser un importante factor de riesgo de hipertensión, especialmente el consumo de bebidas dietéticas, que a menudo se comercializan como más saludables que las bebidas azucaradas.

Content analysis corresponds to a set of techniques through which a group of data can be analyzed. It is widely used in qualitative research, especially in investigations in the field of education, as it is a very effective way of understanding the content, not always manifest in a discourse (whether it be a text, a gesture, or the utterance of a phrase, that is, any form of communication). Thus, the objective of this article is to describe the method and techniques of content analysis from the perspective of Bardin (2016) and its contributions and limitations to qualitative approaches in education. This research presents a qualitative perspective, of the bibliographical type, of an interpretative nature, carried out in articles and books that deal with the subject. Content analysis, from Bardin's perspective, offers several important contributions to qualitative research in education, including a systematic and rigorous analysis of data, a deeper understanding of the phenomena studied, a flexible and adaptable approach, the possibility of identifying gaps in the literature, and data triangulation. The main limitations of content analysis for qualitative research in education include the risk of reductionism, subjectivity in the construction of categories, difficulty in dealing with non-textual data, and limitations in generalizing results. It is important for the researcher to be aware of these limitations when using content analysis in their research.

El análisis de contenido corresponde a un conjunto de técnicas a través de las cuales se puede analizar un grupo de datos. Es ampliamente utilizado en investigación cualitativa, especialmente en investigaciones en el campo de la educación, ya que es una forma muy efectiva de comprender el contenido, no siempre manifiesto en un discurso (ya sea un texto, un gesto, o la expresión de una frase, es decir, cualquier forma de comunicación). Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este artículo es describir el método y las técnicas del análisis de contenido desde la perspectiva de Bardin (2016) y sus contribuciones y limitaciones a los enfoques cualitativos en educación. Esta investigación presenta una perspectiva cualitativa, del tipo bibliográfico, de naturaleza interpretativa, llevada a cabo en artículos, libros que tratan el tema. El análisis de contenido, desde la perspectiva de Bardin, ofrece varias contribuciones importantes a la investigación cualitativa en educación, incluyendo un análisis sistemático y riguroso de los datos, una comprensión más profunda de los fenómenos estudiados, un enfoque flexible y adaptable, la posibilidad de identificar lagunas en la literatura y la triangulación de datos. Las principales limitaciones del análisis de contenido para la investigación cualitativa en educación incluyen el riesgo de reduccionismo, subjetividad en la construcción de categorías, dificultad para manejar datos no textuales y limitaciones en la generalización de resultados. Es importante que el investigador sea consciente de estas limitaciones al utilizar el análisis de contenido en sus investigaciones.

A análise de conteúdo corresponde a um conjunto de técnicas por meio das quais se pode analisar um grupo de dados. É bastante utilizada em pesquisas qualitativas, especialmente nas investigações da área da educação, por tratar-se de uma forma muito eficaz de se compreender os conteúdos nem sempre manifestos de um discurso (seja um texto, um gesto, ou a enunciação de uma frase, isso é, qualquer forma de comunicação). Assim, o objetivo deste artigo é descrever o método e as técnicas da análise de conteúdo na perspectiva de Bardin (2016) e suas contribuições e limitações para a abordagem qualitativa em educação. A investigação deste artigo apresenta a perspectiva qualitativa, do tipo bibliográfica, de natureza interpretativa, realizada em artigos e livros que tratam da temática. A análise de conteúdo, na perspectiva de Bardin, oferece várias contribuições importantes para a pesquisa qualitativa em educação, incluindo uma análise sistemática e rigorosa dos dados, uma compreensão mais profunda dos fenômenos estudados, uma abordagem flexível e adaptável, a possibilidade de identificação de lacunas na literatura e a triangulação dos dados. As principais limitações da análise de conteúdo para a pesquisa qualitativa em educação incluem o risco de reducionismo, a subjetividade na construção das categorias, a dificuldade em lidar com dados não-textuais e as limitações na generalização dos resultados. É importante que o pesquisador esteja ciente dessas limitações ao utilizar a análise de conteúdo em suas pesquisas.

Abstract Several topics related to the oral cavity are briefly addressed in this article, from anatomical variations that, when recognized, avoid unnecessary investigations, to diseases that affect exclusively the mouth, mucocutaneous diseases, as well as oral manifestations of systemic diseases. A complete clinical examination comprises the examination of the mouth, and this approach facilitates clinical practice, shortening the path to diagnosis in the outpatient clinic as well as with in-hospital patients. The objective of this article is to encourage the examination of the oral cavity as a useful tool in medical practice, helping to recognize diseases in this location.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the antibiotic profile of microorganisms isolated from urine samples of patients with community urine tract infections (UTI) admitted to the University Hospital of the Federal University of Sao Carlos to support an appropriate local empirical treatment. A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2018 to October 2020. Data from 1,528 positive urine cultures for bacterial pathogens and antibiograms were tabulated. Bacterial species prevalence and their resistance profile were analyzed and compared by sex and age. For Gram-negative fermenting bacteria, resistance rates were compared between patients with previous hospitalization and the total of infections caused by this group. For comparisons, the Chi-square test was performed, using Fisher’s exact test when necessary (BioEstat program, adopting p ≤ 0.05). A multivariate analysis was applied to assess the effect of the studied variables in predicting multidrug resistance. Infections were more prevalent in women and older adults. Gram-negative bacteria represented 90.44% of total cultures. In both sexes, E. coli prevalence was significantly higher in adults compared with older adults (p < 0.0001). For several antibiotics, resistance rates were higher in the older adults compared with other ages and in patients with Gram-negative fermenting infections and previous hospitalization compared with the total of infections by this group of bacteria. The closer to the hospitalization, the higher the number of antibiotics with superior resistance rates. Resistance rates for aminoglycosides, carbapenems, ceftazidime, nitrofurantoin, piperacillin+tazobactam, and fosfomycin were less than 20%, considered adequate for empirical treatment. Only hospitalization in the previous 90 days was statistically significant in predicting infections by multidrug-resistant bacteria.

Abstract Objective Evaluate autonomic function and low-grade inflammation and characterize the correlation between these variables in schoolchildren with obesity living in the Brazilian northeast region. Methods 84 children with obesity and 41 with normal weight were included in this cross-sectional study. Anthropometry, body composition, blood pressure (BP), inflammatory biomarkers, and heart rate variability (HRV) indexes were analyzed in children aged 7 to 11 years. Results children with obesity had increased systolic (p= 0.0017) and diastolic (p= 0.0131) BP and heart rate (p= 0.0022). The children with obesity displayed significantly lower SDNN, RMSSD, NN50, HF (ms), HF (nu), SD1, SD2, and higher LF (ms), LF (nu), LF/HF, SD1/SD2, DFA-α1, and DFA-α2, compared to normal weight. A lower and higher capacity for producing IL-10 (p= 0.039) and IL-2 (p= 0.009), respectively, were found in children with obesity compared to children with normal weight. Although IL-2, IL-4 and IL17A did not correlate with HRV parameters, IL-6 was positively correlated with SDNN, LF (ms) and SD2, TNF-α was positively correlated with LF/HF and SD1/SD2 ratio, and IFN-γ was positively correlated with SDNN, RMMSSD, NN50, LF (ms), HF (ms), SD1, and SD2. Conclusions The findings suggest that children with obesity have impaired autonomic function and systemic low-grade inflammation compared to children within the normal weight range, the inflammatory biomarkers were correlated with HRV parameters in schoolchildren living in the northeastern region of Brazil.

ABSTRACT The global reemergence of measles in 2018–2019 reinforces the relevance of high-coverage immunization to maintain the disease elimination. During an outbreak in the Sao Paulo State in 2019, several measles cases were reported in individuals who were adequately vaccinated according to the current immunization schedule recommends. This study aimed to assess measles IgG antibody seropositivity and titers in previously vaccinated adults. A cross-sectional study was conducted at CRIE-HC-FMUSP (Sao Paulo, Brazil) in 2019. It included healthy adults who had received two or more Measles-Mumps-Rubella vaccines (MMR) and excluded individuals with immunocompromising conditions. Measles IgG antibodies were measured and compared by ELISA (Euroimmun®) and chemiluminescence (LIASON®). The association of seropositivity and titers with variables of interest (age, sex, profession, previous measles, number of measles-containing vaccine doses, interval between MMR doses, and time elapsed since the last MMR dose) was analyzed. A total of 162 participants were evaluated, predominantly young (median age 30 years), women (69.8%) and healthcare professionals (61.7%). The median interval between MMR doses was 13.2 years, and the median time since the last dose was 10.4 years. The seropositivity rate was 32.7% by ELISA and 75.3% by CLIA, and a strong positive correlation was found between the tests. Multivariate analyses revealed that age and time since the last dose were independently associated with positivity. Despite being a single-center evaluation, our results suggest that measles seropositivity may be lower than expected in adequately immunized adults. Seropositivity was higher among older individuals and those with a shorter time since the last MMR vaccine dose.

ABSTRACT Tuberculosis stands as one of humanity’s oldest afflictions, intrinsically intertwined with social disparities. This formidable disease spares no age group and remains the prevailing cause of infection-induced mortality worldwide, particularly in developing nations. We present a case of a 56-year-old woman with diabetes who was diagnosed with Pulmonary Tuberculosis. After receiving antituberculosis drugs as part of her treatment, she experienced a range of systemic manifestations and suffered from severe ulcerative esophagitis. This adverse reaction led to uncontrollable gastrointestinal intolerance, tragically resulting in her untimely demise. The incident underscores the potential seriousness of adverse reactions that can arise from tuberculosis treatment medications.

ABSTRACT Understanding the green dwarf coconut palm development is essential to improve its management. This study aimed to characterize and understand the seasonality of the green dwarf coconut palm development and yield under rainfed and irrigated conditions in the northeastern region of the Pará state, Brazil. The longitudinal and transverse diameters, fruit mass and yield, in addition to the number of live leaves, live bunches, fruits of the bunches nº 11 and 14 and female fowers were monitored. The coconuts between the bunches nº 20 and 22 showed larger dimensions and biomass (fresh and dry). The partition of the production components varies according to the time of the year, with the liquid albumen mass, which is a component of greater commercial focus, being higher in the rainy season, with lower percentage losses in the irrigated cultivation. The meteorological seasonality plays a key role in fower dropping and fruit abortion, directly contributing to the amount of produced fruits.

RESUMO Compreender o desenvolvimento do coqueiro-anão-verde é essencial para melhorar seu manejo. Objetivou-se caracterizar e entender a sazonalidade do desenvolvimento e a produção de frutos do coqueiro-anão-verde sob condições de sequeiro e irrigação na região nordeste do Pará, Brasil. Foram monitorados os diâmetros longitudinal e transversal, massa e produtividade dos frutos, além do número de folhas vivas, cachos vivos, frutos dos cachos nº 11 e 14 e fores femininas. Os cocos entre os cachos nº 20 e 22 apresentam maiores dimensões e biomassa (fresca e seca). A repartição dos componentes da produção varia conforme a época do ano, sendo a massa de albúmen líquido, componente de maior enfoque comercial, maior no período chuvoso, com menores perdas percentuais no cultivo irrigado. A sazonalidade meteorológica desempenha papel fundamental na queda das fores e no aborto dos frutos, contribuindo diretamente para a quantidade de frutos produzidos.

Abstract This article aims to estimate the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders (MD) on the adult population of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil, verifying associated demographic and socioeconomic factors, and to analyze their impact on Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) according to sex. A population-based study was conducted with 2,166 individuals using data from the ISACamp 2014/15. The Medical Outcomes Study SF-36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) was used to measure HRQoL according to MD. Prevalence ratios (PR) were estimated by Poisson regression. Musculoskeletal disorders had a prevalence of 8.5% (6.7% tendonitis and 2.7% work-related musculoskeletal disorders - WMSD). Results showed a higher prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in women, active or on leave due to illness, and in individuals with higher education levels. Moreover, reduced HRQoL scores were observed in 6 of the 8 domains, due to MD. The mental component and physical component showed greater impairment respectively among women and men after self-reported WMSD. These findings point to substantial damage from musculoskeletal disorders on the population’s HRQoL. WMSD affect the HRQoL of men and women distinctly.

Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é estimar a prevalência de doenças musculoesqueléticas (DM) na população adulta de Campinas/SP, Brasil, verificar fatores demográficos e socioeconômicos associados e analisar o seu impacto na qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde (QVRS) segundo sexo. Este é um estudo de base populacional utilizando dados do ISACamp 2014/15, com 2.166 indivíduos. Para a medida de QVRS, foram calculados os escores médios do Short Form Health Survey 36 (SF-36) segundo as DM e utilizada a regressão de Poisson para estimar as razões de prevalência (RP). A prevalência de DM foi de 8,5% (6,7% de tendinite e 2,7% de doenças osteomusculares relacionadas ao trabalho - DORT). Os resultados deste estudo mostraram maior prevalência de DM em mulheres, na população adulta ativa ou afastada por doença e em indivíduos com maior escolaridade. Além disso, observou-se redução nos escores de QVRS, devido às DM, em quase todos os domínios do instrumento. O maior comprometimento foi observado no componente mental entre as mulheres, e no componente físico, entre os homens, após autorrelato de DORT. Os achados mostram o impacto substancial das DM na QVRS da população. As DORT afetam distintamente a QVRS de homens e mulheres.

Abstract: The Covid19 disease, resulting from contamination by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, impacted on the economy, especially in the agricultural sector, which has become more susceptible to these impacts through the rise in costs that are not easily perceived. This study aims to analyze the impact on input acquisition costs, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, in small family farms, from the perspective of the Total Cost Ownership (TCO) methodology. The methodology used in this research was a case study in 12 family farms, located in the southern region of Brazil, with data collected from April 2017 to March 2020. Four inputs common to all properties were analyzed. The results showed that there was an increase of 39.47% in the acquisition costs of inputs and a weighted average increase of 34.7%, which had a negative impact on the monetary result of family properties. It was concluded that the properties were affected by the effects of the pandemic with regard to the purchase of inputs, mainly with an increase in acquisition costs, due to the shortage of essential supplies for the basic operations of small rural properties.

Resumo: A doença Covid19, resultante da contaminação pelo vírus SARS-CoV-2, causou efeitos na economia, sobretudo no setor agrícola, que se tornou mais suscetível à elevação de custos não percebidos facilmente. Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar o impacto nos custos de aquisição de insumos, ocasionados pela pandemia do Covid-19, em pequenas propriedades rurais familiares, sob a ótica da metodologia Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). A metodologia empregada nesta investigação foi a do estudo de caso genérico em 12 propriedades rurais familiares, situadas na Região Sul do Brasil, com dados coletados entre abril de 2017 e março de 2020. Foram analisados quatro insumos comuns a todas as propriedades. Os resultados demonstraram que houve um acréscimo de 39,47% nos custos de aquisição dos insumos, equivalente a um aumento médio ponderado de 34,7%, o que impactou negativamente no resultado monetário das propriedades familiares. Concluiu-se que as propriedades foram afetadas pelos efeitos da pandemia no que se refere à compra de insumos, principalmente com o aumento dos custos de aquisição, em decorrência do desabastecimento dos suprimentos essenciais para as operações básicas das pequenas propriedades rurais.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Considering the ability of the health and self-management in diabetes questionnaire (HASMID-10) to verify the impact of self-management on diabetes, we highlight its relevance to scientific research and clinical applicability. However, to date, no study has been conducted to scientifically support its use in other languages. OBJECTIVE: To translate, cross-culturally adapt, and validate the HASMID-10 into the Brazilian Portuguese. DESIGN AND SETTING: A translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and validation study conducted at Ceuma University. METHODS: Study was conducted in accordance with the Guidelines for the Process of Cross-Cultural Adaptation of Self-Report Measures and Consensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments. We included participants of both sexes diagnosed with diabetes, aged between 18 and 64 years, and without cognitive deficits or any other limitations that would prevent them from answering the questionnaire. We assessed participants using the problem areas in diabetes (PAID) scale and HASMID-10. We assessed reliability using a test-retest model with a 7-day interval between assessments. We used intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), 95% confidence interval (CI), standard error of measurement (SEM), minimum detectable difference (MDD), Spearman correlation coefficient, and floor and ceiling effects. RESULTS: Sample comprised 116 participants, most of whom were women, overweight, non-practitioners of physical activity, and nonsmokers. We observed significant correlations (P = 0.006; rho = −0.256) between the HASMID-10 and PAID, adequate reliability (ICC = 0.780) and internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.796). No ceiling or floor effects were observed. CONCLUSION: HASMID-10 has adequate measurement properties and may be used for Brazilians.

ABSTRACT: Vale do Ribeira is one of the largest banana producing regions in Brazil. However, information on soil fertility and nutrient status that could limit fruit production remains scarce. Thus, the present study diagnosed the most limiting nutrient parameters for the Nanica and Prata banana cultivars, in Vale do Ribeira, São Paulo State, based on soil and leaf chemical analyses. The data assessed included samples from commercial plantations in the municipalities of Eldorado, Cajati, Jacupiranga, Pariquera-açú, Registro and Sete Barras, between 2012 and 2020. The results of soil (pH, V, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn) and leaf chemical analyses (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn) were interpreted according to literature values and their maximums, minimums, means, coefficients of variation (CV), and confidence intervals (CI) were calculated at P < 0.05. Parameter classes were assessed according to their frequency distribution. A large part of the samples exhibited pH and V values similar to those recommended for banana plants. Although, average soil nutrient concentrations were considered high, soil K, Mg and S levels did not provide adequate banana plant nutrition, since these nutrients were deficient in the plants.

RESUMO: O Vale do Ribeira é uma das maiores regiões produtoras de banana do Brasil. Contudo, ainda são escassas informações sobre a fertilidade do solo e o estado nutricional das plantas que possam limitar a produção da fruta na região. Deste modo, o presente trabalho objetivou diagnosticar os parâmetros nutricionais mais limitantes para as cultivares de bananeira, Nanica e Prata, no Vale do Ribeira - SP, a partir de laudos de análises químicas de solo e folha. Os dados avaliados compreenderam amostragens realizadas em pomares comerciais, nos municípios de Eldorado, Cajati, Jacupiranga, Pariquera-açú, Registro e Sete Barras entre os anos 2012 e 2020. Os resultados das análises químicas de solo (pH, V, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn e Zn) e folha (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn e Zn) foram interpretados de acordo com valores disponíveis na literatura e calculados seus valores máximos, mínimos, médias, coeficientes de variação (CV) e intervalos de confiança (IC) a P < 0.05. As classes de interpretação dos parâmetros foram avaliadas de acordo com sua distribuição de frequência. Grande parte das amostras apresentaram valores de pH e V próximos aos indicados para a bananeira. As concentrações de nutrientes no solo, em média, foram consideradas altas, no entanto, para K, Mg e S, a concentração no solo não refletiu em adequada nutrição da bananeira, estando esses nutrientes deficientes na planta.

ABSTRACT: The objective of the present study was to evaluate clinical, cardiorespiratory, and Doppler echocardiographic changes in rabbits sedated with midazolam and morphine combined with or without dexmedetomidine. This study was a blinded, randomized, controlled experiment that included 16 adult male New Zealand rabbits weighing 3.1 ± 0.3 kg. The animals were sedated using one of the following protocols: 1 mg/kg midazolam and 2 mg/kg morphine (MIDA, n = 8), or 25 mg/kg dexmedetomidine, 2 mg/kg morphine and 1 mg/kg midazolam (DEX, n = 8). Sedation latency, duration of the sedation and recovery period, sedation scores, heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (f), peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2), systolic arterial pressure (SAP), diastolic arterial pressure (DAP), mean arterial pressure (MAP), and recta temperature were recorded, and Doppler echocardiography was performed. Latency periods were 7.3±1.6 min in the DEX group and 10.9 ± 5.0 min in the MIDA group (P = 0.112). Sedation duration was 122.4±14 min in the DEX group and 71.2 ± 32 min in the MIDA group (P = 0.005), whereas recovery time was 35.7±17.7 min in the DEX group and 32.5 ± 25.3 min in the MIDA group (P = 0.743). The sedation scores for the DEX group were significantly higher than those for the MIDA group throughout the monitoring period. Reductions in HR, SAP, MAP, and DAP values were observed in both groups relative to baseline values, and were significantly lower in the DEX group compared to the MIDA group. Minimal Doppler echocardiographic changes were observed. Dexmedetomidine used in combination with midazolam and morphine incremented the quality and duration of sedation in rabbits. Both protocols elicited cardiorespiratory changes that were well-tolerated, with minimal changes in myocardial function.

RESUMO: O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar alterações clínicas, cardiorrespiratórias e ecodopplercardiográficas, bem como o nível de sedação em coelhos sedados com midazolam e morfina combinadas, ou não, com dexmedetomidina. O design do estudo foi experimental controlado randomizado cego, com 16 coelhos adultos machos Nova Zelândia, pesando 3,1 ± 0,3 Kg. Os animais foram sedados aleatoriamente com um dos seguintes tratamentos: MIDA (n = 8): 1 mg/kg de midazolam e 2 mg/kg de morfina; DEX (n = 8) 25 mcg/kg de dexmedetomidina, 2 mg/kg de morfina e 1 mg/kg de midazolam; Latência, sedação e períodos de recuperação, escores de sedação, FC, f, SpO2, PAS, PAM, PAD, ToC, foram mensurados e ecoDopplercardiografia foi realizada. Os períodos de latência foram 7.3 ± 1.6 minutos no grupo DEX e 10.9 ± 5.0 minutos no grupo MIDA (P = 0,112). A duração da sedação foi de 122.4 ± 14 minutos no grupo DEX e 71.2 ± 32 minutos no grupo MIDA (P = 0,005). Os tempos totais de recuperação foram de 35.7 ± 17.7 minutos no grupo DEX e 32.5 ± 25.3 minutos no MIDA (P = 0,743). Os escores de sedação obtidos do grupo DEX foram estatisticamente superiores aos do grupo MIDA durante todas as observações (de 5 a 40 minutos). A redução dos valores de FC, PAS, PAM e PAD foi observada em ambos os grupos, em relação ao momento baseline, e foram significativamente menores no grupo DEX quando comparado ao MIDA. Alterações ecodopplercardiográficas mínimas foram observadas ambos os grupos. A adição de dexmedetomidina à associação midazolam/morfina aumentou o nível, a qualidade e a duração do protocolo sedativo. Ambos os protocolos causaram alterações cardiorrespiratórias bem toleradas em animais normais e com mínimas alterações na função miocárdica.
