Abstract The Atlantic Forest has one of the richest floras in the world and floristic surveys are essential to understand its biodiversity and promote its conservation. This study aims to contribute to the floristic understanding of Anacardiaceae in the Iguaçu National Park (Brazil) and the Iguazú National Park (Argentina). Monthly samplings were performed from 03/2019 to 02/2020 and sporadic samplings from 11/2020 to 01/2021 in the main trails from both parks, as well as herbarium review and surveys on virtual platforms. Two native species: Lithraea molleoides and Schinus terebinthifolia, and two exotic cultivated species: Mangifera indica and Spondias purpurea were found in the Iguaçu National Park and only one native species, Schinus terebinthifolia, in the Iguazú National Park. Identification key, descriptions, photographs with diagnostic characters of the taxa, taxonomic comments, geographical distribution, phenology, common names, uses and observations are provided.

Resumen El Bosque Atlántico tiene una de las floras más ricas del mundo, siendo los relevamientos florísticos imprescindibles para el conocimiento de su biodiversidad y conservación. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo contribuir al conocimiento florístico de Anacardiaceae del Parque Nacional do Iguaçu (Brasil) y del Parque Nacional de Iguazú (Argentina). Se realizaron colectas mensuales desde 03/2019 a 02/2020 y esporádicas de 11/2020 a 01/2021, en los principales senderos de ambos parques, visitas a herbarios y consultas en las plataformas virtuales. Se encontraron dos especies nativas: Lithraea molleoides y Schinus terebinthifolia, y dos especies exóticas cultivadas: Mangifera indica y Spondias purpurea en el Parque Nacional do Iguaçu y solamente una especie nativa, Schinus terebinthifolia, en el Parque Nacional Iguazú. Se presenta una clave de identificación de las especies, descripciones, fotografías con caracteres diagnósticos, comentarios taxonómicos, distribución geográfica, fenología, nombres comunes, usos y observaciones.

Abstract Laterite gravels have been successfully adopted as pavement materials in the field. Despite that, they are often rejected in material selection processes because of its base on traditional gradation and consistency limits requirements. To allow a deeper evaluation of such material found abundantly in tropical countries, along to characterizing traditional parameters, repeated load triaxial tests were performed in a Laterite Gravel from Acre/Brazil to evaluate its elastic and plastic behavior through Resilient Modulus (RM) and Permanent Deformation (PD), respectively. In addition, a simulation was conducted in the MeDiNa software, based on the test results considering stress states that are usually applied in pavement layers. The material showed RM values higher than 500 MPa, which was considered high compared to materials such as Quartz and Granite. It was also observed low permanent deformation (below 1 mm for higher tensions applied) and accommodation of displacement (shakedown) for most specimens. The simulation results showed low rutting prediction for the Laterite Gravel applied in highway pavement layers. Thus, the results indicated that the lateritic gravel can be adopted in the composition of base or subbase layers of flexible pavements, even though some limits of the parameters specified by traditional specifications were violated, as expected. In addition, we also highlight the need for adoption of new material selection strategies that are based on key mechanical characteristics to avoid discarding potentially well performing materials.

ABSTRACT The article characterizes the childcare, educational psychology and pedagogy discourses on the effects of the environment on child development based on books published in Brazil between 1930 and 1980. In the discourses of the human sciences, this period was characterized by a strong association between the promotion of individuals’ development and social progress. The authors believed that public investments in the creation of better health and education conditions for children would favor the country’s progress. They considered the school as a fundamental environment to promote the healthy development and civilization of children. They stated that the pedagogical activities should be appropriate to the stages of development and carried out in spaces that favored group activities, the performance of experiences and bodily expansion in contact with nature.

RESUMO O artigo caracteriza os discursos da puericultura, da psicologia educacional e da pedagogia sobre os efeitos do ambiente no desenvolvimento da criança a partir de livros publicados no Brasil entre 1930 e 1980. Nos discursos das ciências humanas, esse período caracterizou-se por uma forte associação entre a promoção do desenvolvimento dos indivíduos e o progresso social. Entendia-se que os investimentos públicos na criação de melhores condições de saúde e educação para as crianças favoreceria o avanço do país. Considerava-se a escola como um ambiente propício ao desenvolvimento saudável e à civilização das crianças. Afirmava-se que as atividades pedagógicas deveriam ser adequadas às etapas do desenvolvimento e realizadas em espaços que favorecessem as atividades em grupos, a realização de experiências e a expansão corporal em contato com a natureza.

ABSTRACT Objective: To update the recommendations to support decisions regarding the pharmacological treatment of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Brazil. Methods: Experts, including representatives of the Ministry of Health and methodologists, created this guideline. The method used for the rapid development of guidelines was based on the adoption and/or adaptation of existing international guidelines (GRADE ADOLOPMENT) and supported by the e-COVID-19 RecMap platform. The quality of the evidence and the preparation of the recommendations followed the GRADE method. Results: Twenty-one recommendations were generated, including strong recommendations for the use of corticosteroids in patients using supplemental oxygen and conditional recommendations for the use of tocilizumab and baricitinib for patients on supplemental oxygen or on noninvasive ventilation and anticoagulants to prevent thromboembolism. Due to suspension of use authorization, it was not possible to make recommendations regarding the use of casirivimab + imdevimab. Strong recommendations against the use of azithromycin in patients without suspected bacterial infection, hydroxychloroquine, convalescent plasma, colchicine, and lopinavir + ritonavir and conditional recommendations against the use of ivermectin and remdesivir were made. Conclusion: New recommendations for the treatment of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 were generated, such as those for tocilizumab and baricitinib. Corticosteroids and prophylaxis for thromboembolism are still recommended, the latter with conditional recommendation. Several drugs were considered ineffective and should not be used to provide the best treatment according to the principles of evidence-based medicine and to promote resource economy.

RESUMO Objetivo: Atualizar as recomendações para embasar as decisões para o tratamento farmacológico de pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19 no Brasil. Métodos: A elaboração desta diretriz foi feita por especialistas, incluindo representantes do Ministério da Saúde e metodologistas. O método utilizado para o desenvolvimento rápido de diretrizes baseou-se na adoção e/ou adaptação de diretrizes internacionais existentes (GRADE ADOLOPMENT) e contou com o apoio da plataforma e-COVID-19 RecMap. A qualidade das evidências e a elaboração das recomendações seguiram o método GRADE. Resultados: Chegaram-se a 21 recomendações, incluindo recomendações fortes quanto ao uso de corticosteroides em pacientes em uso de oxigênio suplementar e recomendações condicionais para o uso de tocilizumabe e baricitinibe, em pacientes com oxigênio suplementar ou ventilação não invasiva, e de anticoagulantes, para prevenção de tromboembolismo. Devido à suspensão da autorização de uso, não foi possível fazer recomendações para o tratamento com casirivimabe + imdevimabe. Foram feitas recomendações fortes contra o uso de azitromicina em pacientes sem suspeita de infecção bacteriana, hidroxicloroquina, plasma convalescente, colchicina e lopinavir + ritonavir, além de recomendações condicionais contra o uso de ivermectina e rendesivir. Conclusão: Foram criadas novas recomendações para o tratamento de pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19, como as recomendações de tocilizumabe e baricitinibe. Ainda são recomendados corticosteroides e profilaxia contra tromboembolismo, esta em caráter condicional. Vários medicamentos foram considerados ineficazes e não devem ser usados, no intuito de proporcionar o melhor tratamento segundo os princípios da medicina baseada em evidências e promover a economia de recursos.

Abstract Ketogenic dietary therapies (KDTs) are a safe and effective treatment for pharmacoresistant epilepsy in children. There are four principal types of KDTs: the classic KD, the modified Atkins diet (MAD), the medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) diet, and the low glycemic index diet (LGID). The International Ketogenic Diet Study Group recommends managing KDTs in children with epilepsy. However, there are no guidelines that address the specific needs of the Brazilian population. Thus, the Brazilian Child Neurology Association elaborated on these recommendations with the goal of stimulating and expanding the use of the KD in Brazil.

Resumo As terapias dietéticas cetogênicas (TDC) são um tratamento seguro e eficaz para epilepsia farmacorresistente em crianças. Existem quatro tipos principais de TDCs: a dieta cetogênica (DC) clássica, a dieta de Atkins modificada (DAM), a dieta de triglicerídeos de cadeia média (DTCM) e a dieta de baixo índice glicêmico (DBIG). O Grupo Internacional de Estudos de Dietas Cetogênicas (International Ketogenic Diet Study Group) propõe recomendações para o manejo da DC em crianças com epilepsia. No entanto, faltam diretrizes que contemplem as necessidades específicas da população brasileira. Assim, a Associação Brasileira de Neurologia Infantil elaborou essas recomendações com o objetivo de estimular e expandir o uso da DC no Brasil.

Abstract Background: The emergence of multidrug-resistant NDM-1-producing enterobacteriaceae strains has become a threat to inpatients, especially to immunosuppressed ones, such as kidney transplant recipients. NDM-1 is a carbapenemase that makes gram-negative bacteria resistant to many types of antibiotics. The incidence of carbapenemase-producing enterobacteria infection in solid organ transplant recipients is around 3 to 10%, with a mortality rate of up to 30%. Methods: We present a case series of 4 patients with NDM-1-producing enterobacteria isolated in urine cultures or rectal swabs. We also conducted a cross-sectional study 30 days after patient identification, collecting surveillance cultures (rectal swab) from all inpatients to assess the extent of spread of this resistance mechanism; a total of 101 patients were included. Results: Two patients were adequately treated with negative control cultures. The other two patients were not treated because they were asymptomatic and had subsequent negative urine cultures. No new colonization was identified in the cross-sectional screening, and no new cases of urinary NDM-1 infection were recorded after a 4-year follow-up. Conclusion: Surveillance for infections caused by multidrug-resistant strains in hospitals treating immunosuppressed patients should be continued and prompt action should be taken in cases of outbreaks of multidrug-resistant infections.

Resumo Histórico: O surgimento de cepas multirresistentes de enterobacteriaceae produtoras de NDM-1 tornou-se uma ameaça para pacientes hospitalizados, especialmente para os imunossuprimidos, como os receptores de transplante renal. NDM-1 é uma carbapenemase que torna as bactérias gram-negativas resistentes a muitos tipos de antibióticos. A incidência de infecção por enterobactérias produtoras de carbapenemas em receptores de transplante de órgãos sólidos é de cerca de 3 a 10%, com uma taxa de mortalidade de até 30%. Métodos: Apresentamos uma série de casos de 4 pacientes com enterobactérias produtoras de NDM-1 isoladas em culturas de urina ou esfregaços retais. Também realizamos um estudo transversal 30 dias após a identificação do paciente, coletando culturas de vigilância (esfregaço retal) de todos os pacientes internados para avaliar a extensão de disseminação deste mecanismo de resistência; foram incluídos um total de 101 pacientes. Resultados: Dois pacientes foram tratados adequadamente com culturas de controle negativo. Os outros dois pacientes não foram tratados porque eram assintomáticos e tiveram culturas de urina negativas subsequentes. Não foi identificada nenhuma nova colonização na triagem transversal, e não foram registrados novos casos de infecção urinária por NDM-1 após um acompanhamento de 4 anos. Conclusão: A vigilância de infecções causadas por cepas multirresistentes em hospitais que tratam pacientes imunossuprimidos deve ser continuada e devem ser tomadas medidas imediatas em casos de surtos desses tipos de infecções.

Abstract Objective: To assess the predictive value of selected growth phenotypes for neonatal morbidity and mortality in preterm infants < 30 weeks and to compare them with INTERGROWTH-21st (IG21). Methods: Retrospective analysis of data from the Brazilian Neonatal Research Network (BNRN) database for very low birth weight (VLBW) at 20 public tertiary-care university hospitals. Outcome: the composite neonatal morbidity and mortality (CNMM) consisted of in-hospital death, oxygen use at 36 weeks, intraventricular hemorrhage grade 3 or 4, and Bell stage 2 or 3 necrotizing enterocolitis. Selected growth phenotypes: small-for-gestational-age (SGA) defined as being < 3rd (SGA3) or 10th (SGA10) percentiles of BW, and large-for-gestational-age (LGA) as being > 97th percentile of BW. Stunting as being < 3rd percentile of the length and wasting as being < 3rd percentile of BMI. Single and multiple log-binomial regression models were fitted to estimate the relative risks of CNMM, comparing them to IG21. Results: 4,072 infants were included. The adjusted relative risks of CNMM associated with selected growth phenotypes were (BNRN/IG21): 1.45 (0.92–2.31)/1.60 (1.27–2.02) for SGA; 0.90 (0.55–1.47)/1.05 (0.55–1.99) for LGA; 1.65 (1.08–2.51)/1.58 (1.28–1.96) for stunting; and 1.48 (1.02–2.17) for wasting. Agreement between the two references was variable. The growth phenotypes had good specificity (>95%) and positive predictive value (70-90%), with poor sensitivity and low negative predictive value. Conclusion: The BNRN phenotypes at birth differed markedly from the IG21 standard and showed poor accuracy in predicting adverse neonatal outcomes.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar o padrão espacial de tuberculose em indígenas do Pará e sua correlação com transferência de renda. Métodos: Estudo ecológico, com 340 casos notificados em indígenas no Pará/Brasil, no período 2016-2020. Realizou-se análise descritiva e cálculo das taxas de incidência com suavização pelo método bayesiano empírico local. Fez-se autocorrelação das taxas com dados de transferência de renda pelo Moran Global, p<0,05. Resultados: As mesorregiões Marajó e Metropolitana de Belém apresentaram as taxas de tuberculose mais elevadas e reduzido número de pessoas beneficiadas com transferência de renda (correlação alto-baixo). No Sudoeste, identificaram se taxas elevadas e número significativo de pessoas beneficiadas com os auxílios financeiros (correlação alto alto), I=0,399, p=0,027. Conclusões: A autocorrelação espacial entre tuberculose e acesso a programas de transferência de renda constitui importante subsídio para formulação de políticas de proteção social, podendo impactar as ações de controle da doença nos territórios indígenas, valorizando a heterogeneidade epidemiológica identificada nas mesorregiões.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the spatial pattern of tuberculosis in Indigenous peoples from the State of Pará and its correlation with income transfer. Methods: Ecological study, with 340 cases reported in Indigenous peoples in the State of Pará, Brazil, in the period 2016-2020. The study performed a descriptive analysis and calculation of incidence rates with smoothing by the local empirical Bayesian method. The Global Moran index assessed the autocorrelation of the rates with income transfer data, p<0,05. Results: The Marajó and metropolitan mesoregions of Belém had the highest tuberculosis rates, and a reduced number of people benefited from income transfer (high-low correlation). The study identified high rates, and a significant number of people benefited from financial aid (high correlation high), I=0.399, p=0.027 in the Southwest. Conclusions: The spatial autocorrelation between tuberculosis and access to income transfer programs constitutes a relevant subsidy for the formulation of social protection policies and may impact the disease control actions in Indigenous territories, valuing the epidemiological heterogeneity identified in the mesoregions.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar patrón espacial de tuberculosis en indígenas de Pará y su correlación con transferencia de renta. Métodos: Estudio ecológico, con 340 casos notificados en indígenas en Pará/Brasil, entre 2016-2020. Realizado análisis descriptivo y cálculo de tasas de incidencia con moderación por el método bayesiano empírico local. Hecho autocorrelación de tasas con datos de transferencia de renta por Moran Global, p<0,05. Resultados: Las mesorregiones Marajó y Metropolitana de Belém presentaron las tasas de tuberculosis mayores y reducido número de personas beneficiadas con transferencia de renta (correlación alto-bajo). En el Sudoeste, identificaron tasas elevadas y número significativo de personas beneficiadas con auxilios financieros (correlación alto-alto), I=0,399, p=0,027. Conclusiones: La autocorrelación espacial entre tuberculosis y acceso a programas de transferencia de renta constituye importante subsidio para formulación de políticas de protección social, pudiendo impactar las acciones de control de la enfermedad en territorios indígenas, valorizando la heterogeneidad epidemiológica identificada en las mesorregiones.

Resumo A sonicação é amplamente utilizada para dispersão de nanomateriais em matrizes cimentícias. Aditivos superplastificantes à base de policarboxilato (SP) são geralmente incorporados na suspensão aquosa de nanomateriais antes da sonicação para melhorar a dispersão desses materiais. No entanto, o efeito da sonicação na estrutura molecular e no desempenho de dispersão do SP não foi totalmente investigado. Este trabalho avaliou o efeito da sonicação de um SP comercial a 20 kHz, potência de 750 W, amplitude de 50 e 80%, durante 15 e 30 min. Inicialmente, o efeito de sonicação foi avaliado em suspensão aquosa, determinando a distribuição de tamanho do SP (através de espalhamento dinâmico de luz – DLS) e potencial zeta. Posteriormente, as suspensões aquosas de SP foram utilizadas para a produção de pastas de cimento Portland. Foram realizados ensaios reológicos durante os primeiros 120 minutos de hidratação e a resistência à compressão foi avaliada aos 14 e 28 dias. Os resultados do potencial zeta e DLS sugeriram que a sonicação reduz o tamanho das cadeias de SP. Como resultado, a sonicação do SP aumentou a tensão de escoamento dinâmica inicial, a viscosidade e a área de histerese das pastas de cimento. Em contraste, a sonicação SP melhorou seu desempenho de dispersão ao longo do tempo, resultando em pastas com viscosidade reduzida a partir de 80 minutos. Finalmente, a sonicação SP não afetou a resistência à compressão das pastas de cimento aos 14 e 28 dias de hidratação. Em geral, quando o SP é disperso via sonicação juntamente com nanopartículas para aplicação em matrizes cimentícias, o efeito de sonicação do aditivo químico deve ser levado em consideração quando as propriedades de estado fresco do compósito são avaliadas.

Abstract Sonication is widely used for nanomaterials dispersion in cementitious matrices. Polycarboxylate-based superplasticizer (SP) admixtures are usually incorporated in the aqueous nanomaterials suspension before sonication to improve the dispersion of these materials. Nevertheless, the effect of sonicating SP on its molecular structure or dispersing performance has not been fully investigated. This work assessed the effect of sonicating a commercial SP at 20 kHz, 750 W power, 50 or 80% amplitude, during 15 and 30 min. Initially, the sonication effect was evaluated in aqueous suspension by determining the SP size distribution (through dynamic light scattering – DLS) and zeta potential. Subsequently, the aqueous SP suspensions were used for Portland cement paste production. Rheological tests up to 120 minutes and compressive strength at 14 and 28 days were conducted. DLS and zeta potential results suggested that sonication reduce the size of SP chains. As a result, SP sonication increased the initial dynamic yield stress, viscosity, and hysteresis area of cement pastes. In contrast, SP sonication improved its time-dependent dispersing performance, resulting in pastes with reduced viscosity from 80 minutes onwards. Finally, SP sonication did not affect the compressive strength of cement pastes at 14 and 28 days of hydration. Overall, when SP is sonicated together with nanoparticles for application in cementitious matrices, the effect of sonicating the chemical admixture must be considered when the fresh-state properties of the composite are evaluated.

ABSTRACT Objective: To determine whether polymorphisms of the IL10 and IL17 genes are associated with severe asthma control and bronchodilator reversibility in children and adolescents with severe asthma. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, nested within a prospective cohort study of patients with severe asthma. Two outcomes were evaluated: asthma control and bronchodilator reversibility. We extracted DNA from peripheral blood and genotyped three single nucleotide polymorphisms: rs3819024 and rs2275913 in the IL17A gene; and rs3024498 in the IL10 gene. For the association analyses, we performed logistic regression in three genetic models (allelic, additive, and dominant). Results: The rs3024498 C allele in the IL10 gene was associated with failure to achieve asthma control despite regular treatment (p = 0.02). However, the G allele of the IL17A rs3819024 polymorphism was associated with failure to respond to stimulation with a b2 agonist. The rs2275913 polymorphism of the IL17A gene showed no relationship with asthma control or bronchodilator reversibility. Conclusions: In pediatric patients with severe asthma, the IL10 polymorphism appears to be associated with failure to achieve clinical control, whereas the IL17A polymorphism appears to be associated with a worse bronchodilator response. Knowledge of the involvement of these polymorphisms opens future directions for pharmacogenetic studies and for the implementation of individualized therapeutic management of severe asthma in pediatric patients.

RESUMO Objetivo: Determinar se existe relação entre polimorfismos dos genes IL10 e IL17 e controle da asma grave e reversibilidade com broncodilatador em crianças e adolescentes com asma grave. Métodos: Estudo transversal, aninhado em um estudo prospectivo de coorte com pacientes com asma grave. Foram avaliados dois desfechos: controle da asma e reversibilidade com broncodilatador. Extraímos DNA do sangue periférico e genotipamos três polimorfismos de nucleotídeo único: rs3819024 e rs2275913 no gene IL17A e rs3024498 no gene IL10. Para as análises de associação, realizamos regressão logística em três modelos genéticos (alélico, aditivo e dominante). Resultados: O alelo C do polimorfismo rs3024498 do gene IL10 apresentou relação com asma que permaneceu descontrolada mesmo com tratamento regular (p = 0,02). No entanto, o alelo G do polimorfismo rs3819024 do gene IL17A apresentou relação com ausência de resposta ao estímulo com b2-agonista. O polimorfismo rs2275913 do gene IL17A não apresentou relação com controle da asma ou reversibilidade com broncodilatador. Conclusões: Em pacientes pediátricos com asma grave, o polimorfismo do gene IL10 parece estar relacionado com ausência de controle clínico, ao passo que o polimorfismo do gene IL17A parece estar relacionado com pior resposta ao broncodilatador. O conhecimento a respeito do envolvimento desses polimorfismos abre perspectivas futuras para estudos farmacogenéticos e para a implantação de manejo terapêutico individualizado da asma grave em pacientes pediátricos.

Aim The present in vitro study aimed to evaluate the bond strength of a bulk fill composite on dentin surfaces prepared with the Er: YAG laser. Methods Twenty-four permanent third molars were selected and divided into 2 groups: CP - Conventional preparation with high-speed handpiece (control) and LA (laser) - Preparation with Er: YAG laser. The occlusal surface was removed to expose coronal dentin, which was subsequently prepared with a high-speed handpiece or Er: YAG laser (350mJ, 4Hz, 1.5 ml/min water flow). Both groups were restored with Filtek One Bulk Fill (3M ESPE) composite resin. After 24 hours, the samples were evaluated for microtensile bond strength (µTBS), fracture pattern, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results The data obtained in the µTBS test were submitted to t-test (α=0.05). The results showed no difference in µTBS when the different types of cavity preparation were compared (ρ=0.091). Fracture patterns revealed the prevalence of cohesive fracture in composite resin in CP (83.3%) and adhesive fracture in LA (92.1%). In the SEM analysis, the LA group demonstrated the presence of gaps between the composite resin and the irradiated dentin surface. The hybrid layer exhibited more regularity with the presence of longer and uniform resin tags in the CP group. Conclusion The type of cavity preparation did not influence the values of bulk fill composite resin µTBS to dentin. Fracture patterns and scanning electron microscopy analyses suggested less interference at the adhesive interface in preparations performed using CP.

Abstract Myrtaceae is a diverse family in Brazil and the sixth most representative family in the Atlantic Forest. In Paraná, the Parque Nacional do Iguaçu (ParNa Iguaçu) is a large National Park and also one of the largest remnants of this phytogeographic domain. The objective of the present study was to carry out a floristic inventory of the Myrtaceae of the ParNa Iguaçu, presenting an identification key to the species, illustrations, conservation status evaluation, and comments on geographic distribution and phenology. The collections were carried out between May 2019 and March 2020 in two areas composed of Seasonal Semideciduous Forest and a transitional area to Mixed Ombrophilous Forest. In addition to the samples collected by us, material from other herbaria were also examined. Twenty-five native species and one exotic species of Myrtaceae were found, distributed in seven genera. Eugenia was the most representative genus with 11 species. Of the 26 species, seven are new occurrences for ParNa Iguaçu. From the samples collected in this research and other records in the northwest and west regions of the state of Paraná, the presence of Psidium striatulum in Seasonal Semideciduous Forest is confirmed. Eugenia myrciariifolia was the only species on Brazil’s endangered species list, the IUCN conservation status of which is Endangered (EN). The other species were considered as Least Concern (LC), but some of these species are restricted to certain areas or types of vegetation. Therefore, we conclude that ParNa Iguaçu contributes to the maintenance of these species in their natural environment.

Resumo Myrtaceae é uma família diversa no Brasil e a sexta família mais representativa da Mata Atlântica. No Paraná o Parque Nacional do Iguaçu (ParNa Iguaçu) é um dos maiores remanescentes desse domínio fitogeográfico. O objetivo do presente estudo foi realizar um inventário florístico das Myrtaceae do Parque Nacional do Iguaçu, apresentando para as espécies encontradas uma chave de identificação, ilustrações, seus status de conservação e comentários sobre distribuição geográfica e fenologia. As coletas foram realizadas entre maio de 2019 a março de 2020 em duas áreas compostas por Floresta Estacional Semidecidual e uma área de transição dessa formação com Floresta Ombrófila Mista. Além das amostras coletadas, foram examinados também materiais de outros herbários. Foram encontradas 25 espécies nativas e uma espécie exótica de Myrtaceae, distribuídas em sete gêneros. Eugenia foi o gênero mais representativo com 11 espécies. Das 26 espécies, sete são novas ocorrências para o ParNa Iguaçu. A partir das amostras coletadas nessa pesquisa e de outros registros nas regiões noroeste e oeste do estado do Paraná confirma-se a presença de Psidium striatulum para Floresta Estacional Semidecidual. Eugenia myrciariifolia é a única espécie presente na Lista brasileira de espécies ameaçadas, apresentando status de conservação da IUCN como Em Perigo (EN). As demais espécies são consideradas como Pouco Preocupantes (LC), porém algumas dessas espécies apresentam-se restritas a algumas áreas ou formações vegetacionais. Desta forma, o ParNa Iguaçu é uma Unidade de Conservação que contribui para a manutenção dessas espécies em seu ambiente natural.

Abstract: This paper examines the recommendations regarding a suitable school environment for childhood literacy contained in books directed at teachers published in Brazil between 1930 and 1990. In this period, such texts are transitioning from the predominant Escolanovista (New Education) ideology to a Constructivist perspective. This change manifests itself in how educators discuss the school environment organization and its importance for literacy learning: if, at first, their greatest concern was with creating a healthy environment, later it became organizing a pedagogical environment. On the other hand, these recommendations remained based on child psychology.

Resumen: El articulo caracteriza las recomendaciones sobre el ambiente escolar adecuado a la alfabetización de los niños, contenidas en libros destinados a los profesores y publicados en Brasil entre 1930 y 1990. En ese periodo se puede observar la transición del predominio del ideario escolanovista a los preceptos del constructivismo en esos textos. Ese cambio se manifiesta en los modos de pensar sobre la organización del ambiente escolar y sobre su importancia en el aprendizaje de las letras: si en un primer momento, la preocupación mayor era con la creación de un ambiente sano, posteriormente, pasó a ser con la organización de un ambiente pedagógico. Por otro lado, permaneció la tendencia a fundamentar las recomendaciones en la psicología de los niños.

Resumo: O artigo caracteriza as recomendações acerca do ambiente escolar adequado à alfabetização das crianças, contidas em livros destinados aos professores e publicados no Brasil entre 1930 e 1990. Nesse período, observa-se a transição do predomínio do ideário escolanovista ao dos preceitos do construtivismo nesses textos. Essa mudança se manifesta nos modos de pensar a organização do ambiente escolar e a sua importância no aprendizado das letras: se no primeiro momento, a preocupação maior era com a criação de um ambiente sadio, posteriormente, passou a ser com a organização de um ambiente pedagógico. Por outro lado, permaneceu a tendência a fundamentar as recomendações na psicologia da criança.

ABSTRACT. Brassica spp. production can be negatively affected by clubroot, which is caused by the protozoan Plasmodiophora brassicae Woronin. Most of the information on clubroot control is derived from studies in temperate regions. Here, management strategies were evaluated to reduce broccoli (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica Plenck) crop losses owing to clubroot in tropical mountain regions. The first experiment revealed the effect of green manure from coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.), sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea L.), sweet corn (Zea mays L.), and spontaneous vegetation (control) associated with broccoli seedlings of 4 different sizes. In the second experiment, the effect of soil amendments (limestone and steel slag) in conjunction with poultry litter (fresh or composted for 45 days) and without poultry litter (control), was assessed. Both field experiments sought to evaluate the disease intensity, plant development (root growth, biomass, and nutrient accumulation), and yield. Sunn hemp and coriander biomass resulted in higher healthy root volumes and dry weights of broccoli. However, such benefits were not derived from corn treatment. Compared to smaller seedlings (10 mL cell and 20 days of age, and 16 mL cell and 24 days of age), the use of larger seedlings (35 mL cell and 28 days of age, and 50 mL cell and 32 days of age) resulted in lower intensity of clubroot and increased the average yield by 143% in summer crops. Steel slag, like limestone, corrected soil acidity and resulted in plant growth; however, clubroot intensity was not significantly affected. Fresh and composted poultry litter increased the percentage of diseased roots compared with the control; however, broccoli yield was not affected by the treatments. Using green manure (sunn hemp or coriander) and well-developed seedlings is recommended as a strategy to reduce losses induced by clubroot during broccoli cultivation.

Abstract Objective: To compare high and low-fidelity simulations for the recognition of respiratory distress and failure in urgency and emergency pediatric scenarios. Methods: 70 fourth-year medical students were randomly distributed in high and low-fidelity groups and simulated different types of respiratory problems. Theory tests, performance checklists, and satisfaction and self-confidence questionnaires were used in the assessment. Face-to-face simulation and memory retention was applied. The statistics were evaluated by averages and quartiles, Kappa, and generalized estimating equations. The p-value was considered 0.05. Results: In the theory test there was an increase in scores in both methodologies (p < 0.001 ); in memory retention (p = 0.043) and at the end of the process the high-fidelity group had better results. The performance in the practical checklists was better after the second simulation (p > 0,05). The high-fidelity group felt more challenged in both phases (p = 0.042; p = 0.018) and showed greater self-confidence to recognize changes in clinical conditions and in memory retention (p = 0.050). The same group, in relation to the hypothetical real patient to be treated in the future, felt better confident to recognize respiratory distress and failure (p = 0.008; p = 0.004), and better prepared to make a systematic clinical evaluation of the patient in memory retention (p = 0.016). Conclusion: The two levels of simulations enhance diagnostic skills. High fidelity improves knowledge, leads the student to feel more challenged and more self-confident in recognizing the severity of the clinical case, including memory retention, and showed benefits regarding self-confidence in recognizing respiratory distress and failure in pediatric cases.
