RESUMO Este estudo avaliou a qualidade da silagem de duas cultivares de cana-de-energia (Saccharumspontaneum) produzidas com diferentes aditivos. O experimento foi instalado em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com arranjo fatorial 2 × 5 de tratamentos composto por duas cultivares (VG3, VG1126) e quatro aditivos (1% uréia; 1% NaOH; 1% CaO; e 1,0 × 1011 UFC g -1 de Lactobacillus plantarum- LP) + controle, com oito repetições. Foram utilizados minisilos experimentais, os quais foram abertos 72 dias após a ensilagem. Os teores de matéria seca (MS), proteína bruta (PB), matéria orgânica (MO), matéria mineral (MM), extrato etéreo (EE), fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) e fibra em detergente ácido (FDA) e degradabilidade da silagem foram avaliados. Identificou-se efeito de interação significativo entre cultivar e tipo de aditivo para MS, PB, EE, FDN. ADF. As porcentagens de matéria orgânica e mineral foram semelhantes entre as duas cultivares. LP foi o aditivo menos benéfico para a degradação da MS. Após 72 h de fermentação, a degradação in vitro da FDN da cultivar VG3 aumentou devido à uréia, NaOH e CaO, enquanto a degradação da cultivar VG1126 diminuiu quando inoculada com LP ou CaO. O NaOH e o CaO melhoraram a degradabilidade da silagem, melhorando assim sua qualidade. O uso da LP no presente estudo não beneficiou a silagem para cultivares de cana-de-energia. O uso de NaOH e CaO melhora a qualidade da silagem, duas variedades de energia da cana-de-açúcar VG3 e VG1126, possibilitando seu uso com melhor eficiência para ração animal

ABSTRACT This study examined the quality of silage from two cultivars of energy cane (Saccharum spontaneum) produced with different additives. The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design with a 2×5 factorial arrangement of treatments consisting of two cultivars (VG3, VG1126) and four additives (1% urea; 1% NaOH; 1% CaO; and 1.0 × 1011 CFU g-1 of Lactobacillus plantarum- LP) + control, with eight replicates. Experimental mini-silos were used, which were opened 72 days after ensiling. The dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), organic matter (OM), mineral matter (MM), ether extract (EE), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) contents, and silage degradability were. We identified significant interactions effect between cultivar and type of additive for DM, CP, EE, NDF. ADF. Organic and mineral matter percentage were similar between the two cultivars. LP was the least beneficial additive for DM degradation.After 72 h of fermentation, in vitro NDF degradation of cultivar VG3 increased due to urea, NaOH, and CaO, whereas degradation cultivar VG1126 decreased when inoculated with LP or CaO. The NaOH and CaO improved silage degradability thus improving its quality. The use of LP in the present study did not benefit silage for energy-cane cultivars. The use of NaOH and CaO improves the quality of the silage, two varieties of sugarcane energy VG3 and VG1126, enabling its use with better efficiency for animal feed.

RESUMEN El cultivo de Crambe abyssinica, es explotado comercialmente en Brasil, así la importancia de desarrollar estudios que posibiliten el perfeccionamiento de las técnicas involucradas en su producción. La plantación sobre restos culturales de diferentes especies de cobertura puede aumentar el desarrollo vegetativo y productivo del crambe. Así, el objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el desarrollo vegetativo y reproductivo del crambe cultivado sobre restos culturales de diferentes especies, en sucesión al cultivo de lechuga crespa. El delineamiento experimental utilizado fue en bloques al azar. Los tratamientos correspondieron a restos culturales de plantas de cobertura, siendo estas: crotalária (Crotalaria juncea), frijol guandu (Cajanus cajan), frijol de porco (Canavalia ensiformis), milheto (Pennisetum glaucum) y sorgo (Sorghum bicolor), además de un tratamiento control, con uso de vegetación espontánea. A los 49 días se evaluó altura de planta, diámetro de tallo, número de hojas, contenido relativo de clorofila, número de ramas laterales, masa seca y fresca de la parte aérea. Las variables productivas se evaluaron a los 95 días después de la siembra, obteniendo la masa de granos por planta, el peso hectolitro de los granos. Posteriormente fue estimada la productividad de cada tratamiento y el ingreso bruto. Se verificó que mantener los restos culturales de plantas de cobertura beneficia el desarrollo vegetativo de la cultura de crambe y no altera la productividad de los granos. Esta técnica aumenta el beneficio económico del cultivo, siendo recomendada durante el barbecho, en detrimento del manejo de plantas espontáneas.

ABSTRACT Although the crambe is commercially exploited in Brazil, there is a demand for studies that allow the improvement of the techniques involved in its cultivation. Planting on residues of different species can provide greater vegetative and reproductive development. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the vegetative and reproductive development of crambe cultivated on residue of different species, in succession to the cultivation of lettuce. The experimental design was a randomized block design, with six treatments containing the following cover crops residues: crotalaria (Crotalaria juncea), pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan), porcine bean (Canavalia ensiformis), millet (Pennisetum glaucum) and sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), besides a control treatment, with the use of spontaneous vegetation. At 49 days the vegetative development was evaluated by measuring plant height, stem diameter at the soil level, number of leaves, relative content of leaf chlorophyll, number of lateral branches, fresh and dry biomass of shoot. The productive variables were evaluated at 95 days after planting, obtaining the grain mass per plant, the hectoliter weight of the grains and estimating the productivity of each treatment, as well as its gross revenue. It was verified that the maintenance of residue of cover crops benefits the vegetative development of the crambe crop, without statistically altering grain yield. However, this technique results in an economic benefit, with the increase in gross revenue, being recommended during the fallow, to the detriment of the management of spontaneous plants.

RESUMO O objetivo principal do presente trabalho foi diagnosticar a situação da área em estudo, incluindo o corpo hídrico que é abastecido pelo Córrego Samambaia. Foram realizadas medições de altura e diâmetro das espécies arbóreas, durante 12 meses. Além disso, ocorreram coletas de amostras da água da represa para análise dos parâmetros: pH, condutividade, fósforo total e metais pesados. Nos meses de julho e dezembro de 2014, foram realizadas análises de turbidez, cor, demanda bioquímica de oxigênio (DBO) e oxigênio dissolvido (OD). Foram também realizadas análises físico-químicas do solo. No monitoramento realizado de setembro de 2013 a agosto de 2014, algumas plantas tiveram boa resposta em relação ao uso dos adubos verdes; porém, outras tiveram alta mortandade durante o estudo, como foi o caso do pequi. A competição entre espécies exóticas e nativas foi reduzida, o que aumentou, em geral, a sobrevivência das espécies nativas do bioma do Cerrado. Elementos tais como manganês não apresentaram diferença significativa em todos os tratamentos nos períodos de avaliação. Os valores de macro e microporos foram parecidos, mas a área apresentou diferenças quanto à textura do solo analisado. Quanto aos testes de resistência à penetração (RP) feitos em áreas com e sem adubo verde, os maiores valores foram encontrados na área sem as espécies leguminosas, onde o solo estava mais compactado. Parâmetros como condutividade elétrica da água apresentaram-se estáveis durante os 12 meses de estudo. Os resultados para OD e DBO estão fora do preconizado pela Resolução nº 357 do Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente.

ABSTRACT The main objective of this paper was to diagnose the situation of the study area, including the water body that is fueled by Córrego Samambaia. Measurements of height and diameter of tree species were made for 12 months. In addition, dam water samples were collected and the following parameters were analyzed: pH, conductivity, total phosphorus and heavy metals. In July and December of 2014, turbidity, color, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and dissolved oxygen (DO) analyzes were made. Physico-chemical analyses of soil were also carried out. Monitoring carried out from September 2013 to August 2014 showed some plants with good response in relation to the use of green manures, but others showed high mortality during the study, as the pequi. The competition between alien and native was reduced, which increased overall survival. Elements such as manganese showed no significant difference in all treatments during evaluation’s period. Macro and micropores values were similar, but for texture, the area showed some differences. For penetration resistance tests (PR) made in an area with and without green manure, the largest PR values were found in the one without legumes species. Parameters such as electric conductivity were stable during the 12 months of study. The results for DO and BOD are outside the recommended by the Resolution 357 of the National Environmental Council.

Resumo: Vários estudos têm demonstrado as vantagens da utilização de plantas de cobertura em manter ou melhorar a qualidade do solo e produtividade da cultura. No entanto, os efeitos dessa gestão em feijão comum orgânico em condições de savana, ainda são desconhecidos. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito de leguminosas, mucuna (Mucuna pruriens (L.) DC, feijão guandu (Cajanus cajan L.) HUTH, feijão de porco (Canavalia ensiformis), crotalária (Crotalária juncea) em monocultura e em consórcio com milheto (Pennisetum glaucum L.) R. Br. de 1810, na produção de grãos no feijoeiro comum em sistema orgânico de produção sob o sistema do manejo do solo convencional e plantio direto. O experimento foi realizado com a cultivar BRS Pontal, em um delineamento em blocos casualizados. Aos 90 dias após a germinação das plantas de feijão foram avaliadas, o número de vagens por planta (NVP), número de grãos por vagem (NGV), número de grãos por planta (NGP) , peso de 100 grãos (M100G) e produção de grãos. Os resultados mostraram que o número de vagens, número de grãos e produtividade do feijoeiro no sistema orgânico, foram influenciados pelas culturas de cobertura do solo e sistemas manejo do solo, com destaque para mucuna associados com milheto e sistema de plantio direto, que proporcionou o melhor desempenho destes parâmetros. A maior produção de grãos foi observado com a mucuna associados com milho em sistema de plantio direto. A produtividade média de grãos orgânicos foi de 3.8 Mg ha-1. A análise de agrupamento mostrou um efeito marcante de sistemas de manejo do solo sobre os componentes de produção do feijoeiro.

Abstract: Several studies have demonstrated the benefits of using cover crops to maintain or improve soil quality and crop productivity. However, the effects of this management with organic common bean in conditions of savannah are still unknown. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of legumes, mucuna (Mucuna pruriens (L.) DC, pigeon pea (Cajanus cajanL.) HUTH, jack or pig bean (Canavalia ensiformis), sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea) in monoculture and intercropped with pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucumL.) R. Br. 1810, on grain production in common bean in organic production under systems of conventional and no-tillage soil management. The experiment was conducted with the cultivar BRS Pontal, arranged in a randomized block design. Bean plants were evaluated 90 days after germination, recording the number of pods per plant, number of grains per pod (NGV), number of grains per plant (NGP), weight of 100 grains (M100G) and grain production. The results showed that the number of pods, number of grains and grain yield of common bean in the organic system were influenced by the cover crops and soil management. Mucuna associated with millet and no-tillage system was outstanding, producing the best performance in these parameters. The highest grain yield was observed with the mucuna associated with maize in the no-tillage system. The average productivity of organic grain was 3.8 Mg ha-1. The cluster analysis showed a remarkable effect of soil management systems on bean production components.

Biological soil attributes have shown to be good indicators of soil changes as a result of the management function. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of using cover crops, as well as planting and tillage systems on the biological attributes of a yellowish red latosol soil. Soil samples were taken at 0 to 0.10 m depth, seven days before the bean harvest. Microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen, basal soil respiration, metabolic ratio and total enzyme activity were evaluated in this study. The best agroecological management was achieved under the association of the ground cover with millet and in direct seeding because they showed higher soil microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen content and lower metabolic quotient, being pork bean the best plant coverage. All biological soil attributes were sensitive to the tillage system, which showed the best results of the total enzyme activity and of the soil metabolic quotient which resulted to be the most efficient.

Los atributos biológicos del suelo se han mostrado como buenos indicadores de las alteraciones del suelo como resultado del manejo. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar el efecto del uso de plantas de cobertura, sistemas de siembra y sistemas de labranza sobre los atributos biológicos de un suelo latosol rojo amarillento. Las muestras de suelo fueron tomadas en la profundidad de 0-0,10 m, siete días antes de la cosecha del cultivo del frijol. Se evaluó el carbono y el nitrógeno de la masa bacteriana, respiración basal del suelo, cociente metabólico y la actividad enzimática total del suelo. El mejor manejo agroecológico fue cuando las plantas de cobertura se asociaron con mijo y en la siembra directa porque mostraron mayor contenido de carbono, nitrógeno de la biomasa microbiana del suelo y menor cociente metabolico, destacándose el frijol de puerco como la mejor planta de cobertura. Todos los atributos biológicos del suelo fueron sensibles al sistema de siembra directa, que mostró los mejores resultados de actividad enzimática total y del cociente metabólico del suelo, siendo el más eficiente

No presente estudo objetivou-se analisar o teor de macro e micronutrientes de folhas de milho (Zea mays L.) cultivado em solo fertilizado com vermicomposto de lodo de curtume e irrigado com água residuária doméstica. O arranjo dos tratamentos consistiu em um fatorial 2x6, sendo dois tipos de irrigação: água de abastecimento (A) e água residuária doméstica (R); e seis tipos de adubação: T1: Solo controle, sem adubação química e sem vermicomposto; T2: Solo + NPK; T3: Solo + vermicomposto de lodo primário; T4: Solo + P + vermicomposto de lodo primário; T5: Solo + P + vermicomposto de lodo de caleiro e T6: Solo + vermicomposto de lodo de caleiro, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado (DIC), com cinco repetições. Para a análise do tecido foliar coletou-se, de cada planta, a folha inteira oposta e abaixo da primeira espiga (superior), excluída a nervura central por ocasião do aparecimento da inflorescência feminina. Os resultados apontam que tanto a água residuária quanto o vermicomposto de lodo de curtume constituem boa fonte de nutrientes para as plantas de milho, uma vez que os teores de macro e micronutrientes nas folhas mostraram-se satisfatórios, não tendo sido observado nenhum sinal ou sintoma de toxidez. Apesar de certa fragilidade da análise foliar servir como ferramenta exclusiva para avaliação do estado nutricional das plantas, este estudo, pioneiramente, aponta para a potencialidade do uso da água residuária de origem doméstica e de vermicomposto de lodo de curtume (em associação) na cultura do milho, motivando a realização de novas pesquisas.

This study analyzed the macro and micronutrient content of maize leaves (Zea mays L.) grown in soil containing tannery sludge vermicomposting and irrigated with wastewater. The arrangement of the treatments consisted of a factorial 2x6 (two types of irrigation and six kinds of fertilizer) in a completely randomized design, with five repetitions, totaling sixty experimental units. The following experimental units, irrigated with supply water (A) and household wastewater (R), were established: (T1) Control Soil, with no chemical fertilization and no vermicomposting; (T2) Soil + NPK; (T3) Soil + primary sludge vermicompost; (T4) Soil + P + primary sludge vermicompost; (T5) Soil + P + liming sludge vermicompost; and (T6) Soil + liming sludge vermicompost. For the leaf-tissue analysis, the opposite whole leaf below the first (upper) ear was collected from each plant, excluding the midrib at the onset of the female inflorescence. The results showed that both wastewater and the tannery sludge vermicomposts can be a good source of nutrients for maize plants, since the macro and micronutrients in the leaves of plants were satisfactory and no signs or symptoms of toxicity were observed. While leaf analysis alone is insufficient to assess the nutritional status of plants, this study innovatively suggests the potential beneficial use of a combination of wastewater and tannery sludge vermicompost in the cultivation of corn, motivating new research.

Green manures have been used as biomass producers and suppliers of nutrients and keep the soil productive potential in tropical regions. The objective of this study was to evaluate the production of dry biomass and nutrient concentration and accumulation in plants of green manure in two cropping systems, without associating and associated with millet and its influence on the nutritional status of the bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in succession in agroecological production. Four legumes (Canavalia ensiformis Adans; Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.; Crotalaria juncea L.; Mucuna pruriens (L.) DC) and one grass (Pennisetum glaucum L.) as association plant, were evaluated. A randomized block design was used, with eight treatments and four repetitions. The green manure plants were cut and left on the ground at 60 days after planting and bean was planted 20 days after cutting the manure plants. The evaluated variables were dried biomass production, nutrient content of green manure and nutrient content in leaves of beans in succession. The production of dry biomass of green manure was higher than 9.00 t ha-1. Mucuna stood out with the greatest tenors of N, Ca, Mg, pork beans with the highest tenors of K, Cu, Mn. The greatest accumulation of P, K and Ca nutrients was in pigeon pea. The highest values of N and Mg were obtained in mucuna. Higher C / N relation was obtained in crotalaria.

Los abonos verdes han sido usados como productores de biomasa y suministradores de nutrientes y mantienen el potencial productivo del suelo en regiones tropicales. El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar la producción de biomasa seca y la concentración y acumulación de nutrientes en plantas de abonos verdes, en dos sistemas de cultivo, sin asociar y asociadas con mijo y su influencia en el estado nutricional del frijol (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) en sucesión en producción agroecológica. Fueron evaluadas cuatro leguminosas (Canavalia ensiformis Adans; Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.; Crotalaria juncea L.; Mucuna pruriens (L.) DC ) y una gramínea (Pennisetum glaucum L.), utilizada para la asociación. En el experimento se utilizó un diseño de bloques al azar, con ocho tratamientos y cuatro repeticiones. Las plantas de abonos verdes fueron cortadas y dejadas en el suelo a los 60 días después de sembradas y el frijol fue sembrado a los 20 días después del corte de las plantas. Las variables evaluadas fueron, la producción y el contenido de nutrientes en la biomasa seca (BS) de los abonos verdes y el contenido de nutrientes en las hojas del frijol en sucesión. La producción de biomasa seca de los abonos verdes fue superior a 9,00 t ha-1. Se destacaron mucuna con los mayores tenores de N, Ca, Mg y canavalia con los mayores tenores de K, Cu, Mn. La mayor acumulación de los nutrientes P, K y Ca se produjo en Cajanus. En mucuna se obtuvieron los mayores valores de N y Mg. La mayor relación C/N la alcanzó crotalaria.

RESUMO O lodo gerado pela indústria curtumeira é um exemplo de resíduo que provoca graves problemas ambientais. Neste sentido, o objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a vermicompostagem de lodo de curtume, como método de reaproveitamento desse resíduo. Devido às características tóxicas do lodo de curtume, o mesmo foi misturado com esterco em várias proporções, em base seca. Durante 105 dias, a biomassa e a população das minhocas (Eisenia fetida ) foram avaliadas, além do pH, humidade e temperatura das unidades experimentais estabelecidas. Os substratos foram quimicamente caracterizados no início e no final do processo de vermicompostagem. Nenhuma diferença significativa foi observada em pH nos grupos com menores concentrações de lodo, no entanto, houve uma diminuição significativa no pH nos grupos com maiores concentrações do resíduo durante a vermicompostagem. As concentrações de Mg, Fe, Mn e Zn foram elevadas no vermicompostagem em todos os tratamentos. A relação C/N foi reduzida em todos os tratamentos, indicando o amadurecimento do substrato final. Os resultados indicam que vermicompostagem promove a conversão do lodo em composto em um curto intervalo de tempo, o que constitui um processo biotecnológico de tratamento capaz de adicionar o valor agronômico para este resíduo.

ABSTRACT Tannery industry-generated sludge is an example of residue that causes important environmental problems. In this sense, the objective of the present study was to evaluate vermicomposting of tannery sludge, as a method of treatment this waste. Due to the toxic characteristics of the tannery sludge, it was mixed with cattle dung in various proportions, on dry weight basis. During 105 days, biomass, number of individuals (Eisenia fetida ), pH, moisture and temperature of the experimental units were assessed. The substrates were chemically characterized at the beginning and at the end of the vermicomposting process. No significant differences were observed in pH in groups with lower concentrations of sludge, there was a significant decrease in pH of the groups with higher concentrations of the residue during vermicomposting. Mg, Fe, Mn and Zn contents were high in the vermicompost in all treatments. The C/N ratio was low in the substrate of all treatments, indicating the maturation of the final substrate. The results indicate that vermicomposting promotes the conversion of sludge to manure in a short time interval, thus constituting a biotechnological process of treatment able to add agronomic value to this residue.

No presente estudo objetivou-se avaliar os parâmetros de crescimento de plantas de milho (Zea maysL.) cultivadas em vaso contendo solo acrescido de vermicompostos de lodo de curtume e irrigado com água residuária de origem doméstica. O arranjo dos tratamentos consistiu de um fatorial 2x6 (dois tipos de irrigação e seis tratamentos de adubação), em delineamento inteiramente casualizado (DIC), com cinco repetições. Foram avaliados, quinzenalmente, a altura das plantas e o diâmetro do colmo. Os resultados indicaram que tanto a água residuária, quanto os vermicompostos de lodo de curtume são uma boa fonte de nutrientes para as plantas, favorecendo o seu crescimento. Conclui-se, portanto, que a água residuária de origem doméstica e vermicompostos de lodo de curtume podem ser considerados resíduos de interesse agrícola para a cultura do milho.

This study evaluated the parameters of the growth of corn plants (Zea mays L.) grown in pots containing soil plus tannery sludge vermicompost and irrigated with household wastewater. The arrangement of treatments consisted of a factorial 2x6 (two types of irrigation and six fertilization treatments) in a completely randomized design (CRD) with five repetitions. The height of the plants and the diameter of the stems were evaluated bi-weekly. The results indicated that both the wastewater and the tannery sludge vermicompost are good sources of nutrients for the plants, promoting their growth. We conclude, therefore, that wastewater from households and tannery sludge vermicompost can be considered an agricultural waste of interest for the corn crop.

As veredas são ecossistemas tropicais úmidos, geralmente associados a solos hidromórficos e afloramento do lençol freático. Os solos desses ecossistemas sofrem alterações conforme o uso das áreas do entorno dessas veredas. Este trabalho teve como objetivo determinar as frações da matéria orgânica do solo (MOS) em áreas úmidas (veredas) adjacentes a ambientes conservados e antropizados (em áreas agrícolas e pastagens), no bioma Cerrado. Amostras de solo foram coletadas nas profundidades de 0-10 e 10-20 cm, ao longo de linhas de referência dispostas, segundo sua posição no relevo, nas posições superior, média e inferior de uma das vertentes, acompanhando o sentido da linha de drenagem da vereda. Foram determinados o C orgânico total e N total do solo, bem como a relação C:N, teores de C, N e relações C:N das frações particulada e associada a minerais (da MOS), além do C das frações ácidos fúlvicos, ácidos húmicos e humina e relação entre ácidos húmicos e fúlvicos. O uso agropecuário da terra no entorno das veredas promoveu diminuição dos teores de C das frações da MOS, de forma mais pronunciada na porção inferior da vertente. Nessa porção, em superfície, os níveis de C orgânico contidos nas substâncias húmicas e na fração particulada da MOS, do mesmo modo que o C orgânico total do solo, foram reduzidos na vereda vizinha a áreas de cultivo.

Veredas are humid tropical ecosystems, generally associated to hydromorphic soils and a shallow water table. The soils of these ecosystems are affected by the use of the areas around these veredas. The objective of this study was to determine soil organic matter (SOM) fractions in veredas adjacent to preserved (native savanna) and disturbed environments (agricultural areas and pastures) in the Cerrado biome. Soil samples were collected from the 0-10 and 10-20 cm layers along reference lines drawn along the relief following the upper, middle and lower positions of one of the slopes, in the direction of the draining line of the vereda. The soil analysis determined: total soil OC, total nitrogen and C:N ratio; C and N contents and C:N ratio in particulate and mineral-associated fractions (of SOM); fulvic acids, humic acids and humin fractions and ratio between humic and fulvic acids. The agricultural use around the veredas induced changes in the SOM fractions, more pronounced in the lower part of the slope. In the soil surface of this part, the OC levels in the humic substances and the particulate fraction of SOM, as well as total soil OC were reduced in the vereda next to crop fields.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a ciclagem de nutrientes por plantas de cobertura e a sua influência sobre o desempenho da rotação entre arroz de terras altas e soja. As culturas foram implantadas sob plantio direto, em Latossolo Vermelho distroférrico, na região do Cerrado de Goiás. As plantas de cobertura foram semeadas mecanicamente, também em plantio direto, após a colheita da soja (25/3/2008) e do arroz (7/4/2009). Utilizou-se o delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com parcelas subdivididas no tempo e quatro repetições. Os tratamentos consistiram das seguintes espécies de plantas de cobertura, além do pousio: Urochloa ruziziensis, U. brizantha, Pennisetum glaucum e U. ruziziensis + Cajanus cajan. A avaliação dos nutrientes remanescentes na palhada foi feita aos: 0, 15, 30, 60, 90 e 120 dias a partir da data da dessecação das plantas de cobertura. Urochloa ruziziensis e U. brizantha apresentaram maior eficiência no acúmulo e na liberação de nutrientes, principalmente quanto ao potássio. Urochloa ruziziensis é a espécie mais indicada como planta de cobertura antecessora à cultura do arroz de terras altas, em plantio direto. No entanto, nenhuma espécie de cobertura afeta significativamente a produtividade de grãos da soja.

The objective of this work was to evaluate nutrient cycling by cover crops and its influence on the performance of the rotation between upland rice and soybean. The crops were sown under no-tillage, in a Rhodic Haplustox, in the Cerrado region of the state of Goiás, Brazil. The cover crops were sown mechanically, also under no-tillage, after the harvest of soybean (3/25/2008) and rice (4/7/2009). A randomized complete block design was used, split-plotted in time, with four replicates. The treatments consisted of the following cover crop species, besides fallow: Urochloa ruziziensis, U. brizantha, Pennisetum glaucum and U. ruziziensis + Cajanus cajan. The evaluation of the remaining nutrient in straw was performed at 0, 15, 30, 60, 90, and 120 days from the desiccation date of the cover crops. Urochloa ruziziensis and U. brizantha were the most efficient in the accumulation and release of nutrients, especially potassium. Urochloa ruziziensis is the most suited species for use as a cover crop previous to upland rice cultivation under no-tillage. However, none of the cover crop species significantly affect soybean grain yield.

Em todo o mundo, o consumo de alimentos naturais tem aumentado significativamente, e o termo "orgânico" tem se destacado. Em face disto, buscou-se conhecer o perfil do consumidor de alimentos orgânicos, no município de Goiânia (GO), bem como saber quais são as principais dificuldades por ele encontradas, na aquisição destes produtos. Fez-se, também, um levantamento de preços, a fim de serem comparados alimentos orgânicos e convencionais. O principal problema apontado pelos entrevistados, quanto à dificuldade no consumo, foi o fator preço, seguido pela disponibilidade de produtos. Abóbora (Curcubita moschata), berinjela (Solanum melongena), beterraba (Beta vulgaris L.), cenoura (Daucus carota L.), jiló (Solanum gilo Raddi) e pepino (Cucumis sativus) foram os produtos que mais apresentaram variação percentual no preço (convencional x orgânico).

The consumption of natural foods has increased significantly all over the world, and the term "organic" has acquired great importance. Thus, this study tried to identify the consumer profile of organic foods in Goiânia, Goiás State, Brazil, in order to find out the main difficulties faced to purchase this kind of product. Prices for organic and conventional foods were also compared. The main problem mentioned by the people questioned about the difficulties for consuming this kind of product was the price factor, followed by its availability. Pumpkin (Curcubita moschata), eggplant (Solanum melongena), beetroot (Beta vulgaris L.), carrot (Daucus carota L.), jiló (Solanum gilo Raddi), and cucumber (Cucumis sativu) were the products that showed the highest percent variation in price (conventional x organic).

As plantas de cobertura em sistema de plantio direto pode contribuir na formação de palhada e ciclagem de nutrientes para as culturas em sucessão. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a produção de matéria seca e ciclagem de nutrientes por plantas de cobertura semeadas em safrinha no desempenho do arroz de terras altas e da soja semeados em rotação, em sistemas plantio direto e preparo convencional, em Latossolo Vermelho do município de Rio Verde, Goiás. O estudo foi realizado no período de abril de 2008 a abril de 2010. Utilizou-se o delineamento em faixas com fatorial 2 x 5 com quatro repetições. Nas faixas horizontais foram testados os dois sistemas de manejo do solo (plantio direto e convencional) e nas faixas verticais, as plantas de cobertura. As avaliações de matéria seca, taxa de cobertura do solo e ciclagem de nutrientes foram realizadas apenas nos tratamentos plantio direto, em que as parcelas foram subdivididas em seis épocas de coletas de matéria seca após a dessecação das plantas de cobertura, o que ocorreu aos 0, 15, 30, 60, 90 e 120 dias a partir da dessecação de manejo das plantas de cobertura, perfazendo um fatorial 5 x 6. As plantas de cobertura, semeadas em safrinha, foram as seguintes: Brachiaria brizantha, B. ruziziensis, Pennisetum glaucum e B. ruziziensis + Cajanus cajan e o pousio. Avaliaram-se a produção de matéria seca, a taxa de cobertura do solo, o acúmulo e liberação de nutrientes pelas plantas de cobertura e a produtividade do arroz na safra 2008/09 e da soja na safra 2009/10, semeados em rotação. As espécies B. ruziziensis e B. ruziziensis + C. cajan destacaram-se na produção de matéria seca, taxa de cobertura do solo e acúmulo de nutrientes no final do período de entressafra. Os nutrientes com mais acúmulos nas matérias secas foram N e K, e as maiores taxas de liberação no solo foram observadas nos elementos K e P. As maiores produtividades de arroz sob plantio direto foram obtidas sobre palhadas de P. glaucum e B. ruziziensis, enquanto a cultura da soja não apresentou diferenças em sua produtividade nos tratamentos estudados.

The cover crops in no-till system can contribute to the formation of mulch and nutrient cycling to annual crops in succession. The objective of this study was to evaluate biomass production and nutrient cycling of cover crops sown in the second growing season, in crop rotation after upland rice and soybean, in no-tillage and conventional tillage systems, on a Red Latassol of Rio Verde, state of Goiás, from April 2008 to April 2010. The experiment was evaluated in randomized strips, in a 5 x 6 factorial design, with four replications. In the horizontal strips two soil management systems (after three years of no-tillage and conventional systems) were evaluated and the cover crops in the vertical strips. Biomass and ground cover and nutrient cycling rates were only evaluated in the no-till treatments, in a 5 x 6 factorial arrangement, where the plots were subdivided, corresponding to six harvest dates of dried biomass 0, 15, 30, 60, 90 and 120 days after cutting of the cover crops. The following cover crops were sown in the second growing season: Brachiaria ruziziensis, Pennisetum glaucum and B. ruziziensis + Cajanus cajan and a fallow treatment as reference. Biomass production and the rates of soil cover and nutrient accumulation and release by cover crops as well as rice and soybean yield were evaluated. B. ruziziensis and B. ruziziensis + C. cajan performed best in biomass production, ground cover and nutrient accumulation at the end of the cover crops. The nutrients N and K had the highest concentration in the biomass, and the highest nutrient release to the soil was observed for K and P. The highest rice yield was observed when grown in no-tillage on crop residues of P. glaucum and B. ruziziensis, while soybean yields did not differ in the treatments.

O Brasil é o quarto maior exportador e o quinto maior produtor mundial de algodão. Entretanto, a cultura é produzida, predominantemente, em áreas sob solos de Cerrado, que apresentam limitações naturais de nutrientes. O objetivo do trabalho foi diagnosticar os fatores nutricionais mais limitantes à obtenção de altas produtividades, para a cultura do algodão, por meio de análises foliares interpretadas pelos métodos DRIS e Faixas de Concentração. Foram coletadas 48 amostras de folhas, em área comercial do município de Silvânia (GO). Coletaram-se 10 folhas do algodoeiro, para uma amostra composta, na época de florescimento pleno (90 dias após o plantio). Na interpretação dos resultados das análises foliares pelo método DRIS, foram calculados índices para cada nutriente de cada amostra, pelo procedimento de Alvarez & Leite (1992). Na interpretação pelas Faixas de Concentração, utilizaram-se padrões tabelados. Os dois métodos avaliaram, como nutrientes mais limitantes, N, S, B e Zn. O método DRIS apresentou maior sensibilidade para diagnosticar problemas nutricionais, especialmente para os micronutrientes B e Zn.

Brazil is the fourth largest cotton exporter and fifth largest producer in the world, however, it is predominantly cultivated under savannah soils, which present natural nutrients limitations. The objective of this study was to diagnose the nutritional factors that most limit high cotton yields, by using leaf analysis interpreted with the aid of the DRIS and sufficiency ranges techniques. So, forty-eight leaf samples were collected in a commercial area of Silvânia, Goiás State, Brazil. Ten cotton leaves were collected to a compound sample, at the full flowering stage (90 day after seeding). For interpreting the leaf analyses results, by using the DRIS technique, indexes for each nutrient from each sample were calculated, according to Alvarez & Leite (1992). For the sufficiency range interpretation, standard values were used. Both methods evaluated N, S, B, and Zn as the most limiting nutrients. The DRIS method showed higher sensibility for diagnosing nutritional deficiencies, especially for the B and Zn micronutrients.

Há necessidade de se avaliar a contribuição de culturas de cobertura e do seu manejo na manutenção da qualidade biológica do solo em áreas sob produção orgânica. Este trabalho objetivou determinar a influência das plantas de cobertura crotalária (Crotalaria juncea), guandu (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp), mucuna-preta (Mucuna aterrima), sorgo-vassoura (Sorghum technicum) e pousio nos atributos biológicos de solo cultivado com feijão e milho orgânicos, sob semeadura direta (SD) e preparo convencional (PC). O trabalho foi conduzido em Santo Antônio de Goiás-GO, em Latossolo Vermelho distrófico, no delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Em novembro de 2003 foram instalados quatro experimentos, dois em SD e dois em PC, sendo um com feijão e outro com milho em cada sistema. Amostragens de solo das parcelas e de uma mata próxima aos experimentos foram realizadas em novembro de 2007, nas camadas de 0,00-0,10 e 0,10-0,20 m, para determinação do teor de C orgânico total (COT), carbono da biomassa microbiana (CBM), respiração basal do solo (RBS), quociente metabólico (qCO2) e quociente microbiano (qMIC). As principais alterações nos atributos biológicos com o uso agrícola ocorreram na camada superficial, onde, de maneira geral, os valores de CBM foram menores que no solo sob mata, sendo esse fato mais pronunciado nas áreas sob PC. O qCO2 mostrou-se sensível às alterações decorrentes do preparo do solo, apresentando valores mais favoráveis na camada superficial do solo sob SD.

The influence of cover crops and their management on the maintenance of soil biological quality in areas under organic production should be better understood. This study aimed to determine the influence of the cover crops sunn hemp (Crotalaria juncea), pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp), velvet bean (Mucuna aterrima), sorghum (Sorgum technicum), and fallow on biological properties of soil under organic common bean and corn, in no-tillage (NT) and conventional tillage (CT) systems. The study was conducted in Santo Antônio de Goiás-GO, on an Oxisol, in a randomized block design, with four replications. Four experiments were installed in November 2003, two of them under NT and the other two in CT. In each soil management system, one experiment was carried out with common bean and another with corn. Samples were taken from the layers 0.00-0.10 and 0.10-0.20 m in November 2007, in the plots and in a neighboring native forest, to determine the soil organic carbon content (SOC), microbial biomass carbon (MBC), soil basal respiration (SBR), metabolic quotient (qCO2), and microbial quotient (qMIC). The main changes in biological properties of soil under agricultural use occurred in the surface layer, where, in general, the MBC values were lower than in forest soil, a difference that was more pronounced in CT areas. The qCO2 was sensitive to changes resulting from soil tillage, with lowest values in the surface layer of NT soil.
