ABSTRACT Fidel Castro Ruz is one of the greatest personalities of the 20th and 21st centuries, a man of national and international dimension due to the depth of his thought and humanitarian work. In Cuba, it constitutes a mandatory reference in the health, science and medical education branch, as well as in the struggle against COVID-19. The challenge of the Cuban people against the pandemic, from March 2020 to the current time, has as its premise in the legacy of Fidel. The purpose of the article is to assess Fidel´s thought as a premise and strength to faceg the pandemic in Cuba.

RESUMEN Fidel Castro Ruz es una de las grandes personalidades de los siglos XX y XXI, hombre de dimensión nacional e internacional por la profundidad de su pensamiento y obra humanitaria. En Cuba constituye un referente obligatorio en el sector de la salud, la ciencia y la educación médica, así como en la batalla contra la COVID-19. El desafío del pueblo cubano contra la pandemia, desde marzo de 2020 hasta la actualidad, tiene como premisa el legado de Fidel. El artículo tiene como propósito valorar el pensamiento fidelista como premisa y fortaleza para el enfrentamiento a la pandemia en Cuba.

Objetivo: realizar una aproximación a la manera como las mujeres perciben la menopausia y describir las experiencias de la sexualidad durante esta etapa, en mujeres atendidas en dos instituciones hospitalarias en Bogotá, Colombia. Materiales y métodos: estudio cualitativo de tipo fenomenológico. La población de estudio fueron las mujeres con diagnóstico de menopausia atendidas en la Clínica Universidad de La Sabana (Chía) y en el Hospital Universitario de La Samaritana. La muestra se configuró por un muestreo por conveniencia y el tamaño se definió mediante el criterio de saturación de la información. La entrevista a profundidad se utilizó como técnica de recolección de la información y los datos se estudiaron mediante el análisis de contenido. Resultados: emergieron cinco categorías: "Percepción de la menopausia", "Cambios que induce la menopausia", "Cambios en la vida sexual durante la menopausia", "La sexualidad durante la menopausia" y "Apoyo médico para afrontar la menopausia". Conclusiones: la menopausia se acompaña de nuevos significados de la sexualidad y se inicia la construcción de otro tipo de relación de pareja. Las mujeres necesitan del apoyo de la pareja, la familia y del personal de salud.

Objective: To approach the question of how older women perceive menopause and to describe their experiences with sexuality during that stage of life, in women seen in two hospitals in Bogotá, Colombia. Materials and methods: Qualitative phenomeno- logical study. The study population included women with a diagnosis of menopause seen at Clínica Universidad de la Sabana (Chía) and the Samaritana University Hospital. The sample was structured using sampling based on convenience and size, defined by means of the information saturation criterion. Information was collected using the in-depth interview technique, and the data were analysed using a content analysis. Results: Five categories emerged: "Perception of menopause," "Menopause-induced changes," "Changes in sexual life after menopause," "Sexuality in menopause," and "Medical support in dealing with menopause". Conclusions: Menopause brings with it new meanings for sexuality and the start of a new form of building the relationship between the couple. Women need the support of theirs partners, families and the healthcare staff.

Introduction: patients suffering temporomandibular joint disorders have increased in number and about 25 million persons have some sign or symptom referring to this entity actually. Etiology is multicausal and some of causes may be occlusal, psychological factors, extrinsic trauma, and bad habits like bite and bend object into the oral cavity, unilateral chewing and sleeping position among others. Objective: to identify temporomandibular joint disorders in patient treated in Dentistry Clinic "Vista al sol Norte" belonging to Caroní Municipality, Bolivar State, Venezuela. Material and Methods: retrospective and descriptive trial was performed including patient belonging to Caroní Municipality, Bolivar State during the period November 2005- August 2006. From all patient treated during this period were random selected 100 clinic records and were assessed, age, gender, clinical expression and prosthesis necessities. Descriptive summary statistics of variables were used to quantitative variables and percentage to qualitative variables. Variable´s associations were try to prove through Chi-square and percentage independent samples comparison test. Results: temporomandibular joint disorder was more frequent in female; the age group most affected was between 31 and 40 years old. It is necessary prosthesis for this disorder. Conclusion: it is evident that temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) affects more the female gender and in both sex the highest frequency is between the 21 and 40 years old. Trauma and accident were the most frequent cause of temporomandibular disorder (TMD) in female sex as well as the tooth lost is in the male gender.

Introducción: el número de pacientes con trastornos temporomandibulares (TTM) ha aumentado, en la actualidad más de 25 millones de individuos experimentan algún síntoma o signo de trastornos temporomandibulares. La etiología del cuadro disfuncional es multicausal; algunas de estas causas pueden ser: desarmonías oclusales, factores psicológicos, traumas extrínsecos y malos hábitos como morder y doblar objetos colocados dentro de la cavidad bucal, masticación unilateral y posición al dormir, entre otros. Objetivo: identificar los trastornos de la articulación temporomandibular .en pacientes atendidos en la Clínica "Vista al Sol Norte", municipio Caroní Estado Bolívar Venezuela. Material y métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo-retrospectivo en pacientes del área de salud de la Clínica Odontológica "Vista al Sol Norte" del municipio Caroní, Estado Bolívar, en el período de noviembre de 2005 a agosto de 2006. De todos los pacientes atendidos en este período se escogieron cien historias clínicas al azar, de las cuales se evaluaron las variables edad, sexo, manifestaciones clínicas y necesidad de prótesis. Se utilizaron estadígrafos de resumen para las variables cuantitativas y porcentajes para cualitativas. Se pretendió probar asociaciones con la prueba Chi cuadrado y el test para la comparación de porcentajes de muestras independientes. Resultados: se evidencia que los trastornos temporomandibulares afectan más al sexo femenino y se presentan con más frecuencia en las edades comprendidas entre 21 y 40 años para ambos sexos. Los accidentes o traumas fueron las causas mas frecuentes de los TTM en el sexo femenino y el desdentamiento en el masculino. En el sexo femenino se constata la mayor necesidad de prótesis Parcial Superior e Inferior. Es la prótesis total superior e Inferior la que más necesitan los del sexo masculino. Conclusiones: se obtuvieron como resultados que la afección fue más frecuente en el sexo femenino, la clase de edad más frecuente corresponde a 31 a 40 años. Se constata la necesidad de prótesis para estas afecciones.
