<p>Mostra-se como encarar as equaçõe de Maxwell, tanto para fenômenos periódicos, reunindo emissão e o campo de radiação, como para o caso geral, mais interessante, dos aperiódicos, com as equações dependentes do tempo, e, em especial, sobre o significado daquelas independentes do tempo. Comenta-se a diferença do enfoque propiciado pela aproximação de estados quase-permanentes, em que as fontes, cargas e correntes atuais determinam completamente os campos, e o das equações exatas, em que isto, “stricto sensu”, já ocorre.</p>

<p>It is shown how to regard Maxwell’s equations for both periodic, putting together emission and radiation fields, and non-periodic phenomena, discussing both the time dependent equations as well as the role played by the time-independent ones. The difference in approach resulting from the quasi-permanent approximation, in which the sources feed the fields, and that of the exact equations, in which, strictly speaking, that is no longer true, is commented.</p>

Na tentativa de tornar a termodinâmica mais familiar e sem violação do seu formalismo, define-se a partir de expressão do diferencial da energia, já incorporando as conseqüências da 2 Lei, o diferencial da energia cinética como associado às variações de temperatura a volume constante e o de energia potencial às de volume, à temperatura constante. A comparação entre os diferenciais é realizada pela normalização das variações de temperatura e de volume às de pressão. Ver-se-á que na fase gasosa, as variações de energia cinética prevalecem em muito sobre as potenciais enquanto na condensada, elas se ombreiam.

In an attempt to make the teaching of thermodynamics more familiar and without violating its formalism, we define from the expression of the energy differential, in which the consequences of the the 2nd law was already incorporated, the differential of the kinetic energy as associated to the temperature variations at constant volume and the differential of the potential energy to those at constant temperature. Comparison between the two differentials is accomplished through the normalization of the temperature and volume variations to a common pressure variation. It will be seen that in the gaseous phase the kinetic part greatly exceeds the potential one but that in the condensed phase they are of the same order of magnitude.

Estuda-se a transição entre os comportamentos quântico e clássico do gás perfeito, atribuindo-a ao fenômeno quântico da abertura do pacote, quando, em densidades decrescentes, ela se sobrepõe ao efeito localizador das colisões.

The transition between the quantum and clasical behavior of the perfect gas is studied and attributed to the openning of the wave packet when, for decreasing gaz densities, it becomes more important than the locallizing action by collisions.

Discute-se o conceito de temperatura que emerge da ação de contato, e a conveniência de torná-lo menos abstrato levando em conta a quantidade de matéria envolvida. Mostra-se que o conceito de 'energia térmica molar', numericamente igual ao produto da constante dos gases pela temperatura absoluta, preenche aquele fim, expressando o conteúdo cinético da energia molar, além de permitir desonerar a entropia de inadequada dimensionalidade.

The concept of temperature acquired by means of our contact interaction and the convenience of turning it less abstract by reference to the quantity of matter is discussed. It is then shown that the concept of 'molar thermal energy', numerically equal to the product of the gas constant by the absolute temperature, fulfills that end, expressing the kinetic content of the molar energy, besides allowing to deprive entropy of inadequate dimensionality.

Estuda-se a perturbação causada pela variação dos próprios parâmetros definindo o sistema quântico, como no caso de ocorrer variação no tempo da carga nuclear num átomo hidrogenóide. Mostra-se que quando a variação é lenta comparada com o período das excitações quânticas, o sistema se mantém no estado original. Isto já não ocorre quando a variação é rápida - como seria no caso de uma emissão nuclear b -, quando as excitações são finitas não permitindo que a aproximação de dois níveis seja satisfatória. Neste caso, deve-se invocar a continuidade da função de onda no momento da descontinuidade do parâmetro para se obter as amplitudes excitadas.

We study the perturbation caused by the variation of parameters defining the quantum system itself, as would be the case of a temporal change in the nuclear charge of a hydrogenic atom. It is shown that the system remains practically in the original state whenever the variation of the parameter in relation with the period of the quantum oscilations is small. This is not the case for a sudden variation - as in the case of a nuclear b desintegration -, when finite excitations do occur. In this case is easier to match by invoking the continuity of the wave function during the sudden parameter change in order to obtain the excited amplitudes.

Faz-se uma brevíssima introdução à álgebra geométrica aplicada ao eletromagnetismo para mostrar como as equações de Maxwell se reduzem a uma única equação nesta linguagem muito concisa.

A very short introduction of the geometric algebra applied to the electromagnetism is carried out in order to show that the Maxwell equations are contained in a single equation when such a concise formalism is employed.

O emprego de lagrangianas com parâmetros dependentes do tempo é discutido. Enquanto que a justificativa de uso de 'constantes de força' dependentes do tempo é simples, a de massas dependentes do tempo se deve a um usualmente não notado fato de que as massas, nas equações de Lagrange para a energia cinética e força generalizada, não são necessariamente constantes. Os correspondentes invariantes adiabáticos são obtidos de forma muito simples, seguindo método sugerido em livro aparecido recentemente, para vários tipos de constante de força.

The practice of employing time dependent mechanical parameters in Lagragian dynamics is dicussed. While time dependent 'force constants' are easy to justify, the fact that variable masses may be used derives from the generally unnoticed fact that in the Lagrange equation for the kinetic energy and generalized force the masses are not required to be constants. The corresponding adiabatic invariants are obtained according to method suggested in recently published book, for various kinds of force constants.

Mostra-se a partir dos potenciais de Liénard-Wiechert que o potencial vetor pode, em geral, ser expresso como produto do potencial escalar e da velocidade da carga que o cria, constituindo-se como se fosse uma espécie de vento de potencial. Starting from the Liénard-Wiechert potentials, it is shown that the vector potential can always be expressed as a product of the scalar potential and the velocity of the charge creating it, looking like a kind of potential wind. From that, it is shown how a certain existing similarity between magnetic and electric quantities may be understood.

Apresentamos estudo de sistema mecânico em que uma coordenada generalizada está sujeita a lenta variação, realizado através de tratamento hamiltoniano no qual se permite a ação de força generalizada ao longo daquela coordenada, gerando o invariante adiabático.

We present study of a mechanical system with one of its generalized coordinates under slow variation, performed through a Hamiltonian treatment in which a generalized force is allowed to act along that coordinate, generating an adiabatic invariant.

Comparação entre as mecânicas Relativista e Newtoniana é realizada num dado sistema de coordenadas, sem nenhuma preocupação com eventuais outros sistemas de coordenadas inerciais em movimento relativo, o que permite percepção mais direta das diferenças entre elas. Toma-se como ponto de partida a equivalência entre massa e energia e chega-se, como anteriormente realizado por T. Theodorsen, à correta dependência entre massa e velocidade.

A comparison between the relativistic and the Newtonian mechanics is carried out inside a single coordinate system without reference to other coordinate systems moving relatively to ours. This allows a more direct understanding of the differences between the two mechanics. As a starting point, the equivalence between mass and energy is assumed and taking the route suggested by T. Theodorsen, the correct dependence of the mass on the velocity is obtained.

A nota mostra que modificações devem ser cuidadosamente introduzidas na base conceitual do Magnetismo para que a resposta à questão exposta no título seja um sim sem sobressaltos.
