Abstract Tropical wetland forests are fragile ecosystems facing critical risks due to global warming and other anthropogenic threats. Hence, gathering accurate and reliable information on them is urgent. Although remote sensing has demonstrated great potential in studying terrestrial ecosystems, remote sensing-based wetland forest research is still in an early stage of development. Mapping wetland forests, particularly mangrove forests, was an initial goal of this approach and is a task that still faces methodological challenges. Initially based on aerial photography only, wetland forest mapping through remote sensing underwent explosive diversification after the launching of artificial satellites in the 1970s. Later, precision in wetland forest mapping increased with the combination of hyperspectral, multispectral, and high and very high-resolution imagery. Accurate delimitation of wetland forest extent is also necessary to assess their temporal dynamics (losses, gains, and horizontal displacement). Despite the prevalence of mapping studies, current remote sensing-based research on wetland forests addresses new questions and novel aims, such as describing and predicting wetland forest attributes through mathematical modeling. Although this approach has made substantial progress in recent decades, modeling and predicting wetland forest attributes remain insufficiently explored fields of research. Combining active and passive sensors is a promising alternative to provide a more accurate picture of these communities’ attributes. In particular, LiDAR and radar-based technologies may help overcome difficulties encountered in older studies. In the future, we will witness conceptual and methodological progress that will enable us to surmount the remaining challenges.

Resumen Los humedales arbóreos tropicales están críticamente amenazados por el calentamiento global y otras amenazas antropogénicas; por ello, urge recopilar información confiable sobre estas comunidades vegetales. Aunque la percepción remota ha demostrado gran potencial en el estudio de ecosistemas terrestres, la investigación de los humedales arbóreos con este enfoque requiere mayor desarrollo. El mapeo de los humedales arbóreos (particularmente manglares), que fue el objetivo inicial de este enfoque, aún enfrenta desafíos metodológicos. Inicialmente basado solo en fotografías aéreas, el mapeo de humedales arbóreos se diversificó explosivamente con el lanzamiento de satélites artificiales y la interpretación de imágenes de percepción remota. La precisión de los mapas de estas comunidades aumentó con el uso combinado de imágenes multiespectrales, hiperespectrales, de alta y muy alta resolución. Para evaluar la dinámica temporal (pérdidas, ganancias, desplazamiento horizontal) de los humedales arbóreos necesitamos delimitar de manera precisa su extensión. Aunque todavía se están cartografiando numerosos humedales arbóreos, la investigación actual de estos ecosistemas por percepción remota aborda nuevas preguntas y objetivos (e.g., predecir los atributos comunitarios por medio de modelos matemáticos). A pesar de sustanciales avances recientes, el modelado y la predicción de los atributos de los humedales arbóreos siguen siendo temas poco explorados. La combinación de sensores activos y pasivos es una alternativa promisoria para evaluar con precisión los atributos de estas comunidades, y las tecnologías de radar y LiDAR pueden ayudar a superar dificultades enfrentadas en el pasado. Los avances conceptuales y metodológicos en el futuro permitirán superar los desafíos que aún persisten.

Abstract Introduction: In Mexico, cardiac rehabilitation (CR) as an interdisciplinary intervention with therapeutic impact in patients with heart disease is growing. There is the need to know actual conditions of CR in our country. Objectives: The objective of this National Registry is to follow-up those existing and new CR units in Mexico through the comparison between the two previous registries, RENAPREC-2009 and RENAPREC II-2015 studies. This is a descriptive study focused on diverse CR activities such as assistance training, and certification of health professionals, barriers, reference, population attended, interdisciplinarity, permanence over time, growth prospects, regulations, post-pandemic condition, integrative characteristics, and scientific research. Results: Data were collected from 45 CR centers in the 32 states, 75.5% are private practice units, 67% are new, 33% were part of RENAPREC II-2015, and 17 have continued since 2009. With a better distribution of CR units along the territory, the median reference of candidates for CR programs is 9% with a significant reduction into tiempo of enrollment to Phase II admission (19 ± 11 days). Regarding to previous registries, the coverance of Phases I, II, and III is 71%, 100%, and 93%, respectively; and a coverance increases in evaluation, risk stratification, and prescription, more comprehensive attendance and prevention strategies. Conclusions: CR in Mexico has grown in the past 7 years. Even there is still low reference and heterogeneity in specific processes, there are strengths such as interdisciplinarity, scientific professionalization of specialists, national diversification, and an official society that are consolidated over time.

Resumen Antecedentes: Mesoamérica es uno de los hotspots de biodiversidad más importantes del planeta. A pesar de importantes esfuerzos realizados durante más de dos siglos para contribuir al conocimiento florístico de esta región, el conocimiento de su flora todavía es disperso y desigual. Preguntas: ¿Cuál es la magnitud de la riqueza de plantas vasculares de la cuenca del río Usumacinta? Sitio y años de estudio: Cuenca del río Usumacinta (Guatemala y México), 1838-2018. Metodos: Se integró y sistematizó información florística a partir de diferentes fuentes de información derivadas de estudios florísticos y ecológicos. Resultados: Se registraron 6,977 especies, 1,892 géneros y 274 familias. El mayor número de especies (5,746) y registros (58,859) fueron de la porción mexicana, en comparación con su contraparte guatemalteca (4,445 especies y 19,952 registros). Las familias con mayor riqueza de especies fueron Orchidaceae (598), Fabaceae (512), y Asteraceae (476). La prevalencia de estas y todas las demás familias con contribuciones significativas a la flora varió entre los tres sectores altitudinales en los que se subdividió la cuenca (cuenca baja, cuenca media y cuenca alta). Conclusiones: La cuenca del río Usumacinta es una región estratégica para la conservación de la biodiversidad vegetal, con casi una tercera parte de las especies de plantas vasculares conocidas para Mesoamérica y ca. de 6 % de la flora del continente americano. Los esfuerzos de exploración botánica deben centrarse en áreas de la cuenca en donde la información disponible es escasa o nula a fin de obtener una mejor apreciación de su flora.

Abstract Background: Mesoamerica is one of the most important biodiversity hotspots on the planet. Despite significant efforts made over two centuries to contribute to the floristic knowledge of this region, our understanding of its flora is still scattered and uneven. Questions: What is the magnitude of the vascular plant species richness in the Usumacinta River Basin? Study site and dates: Usumacinta River Basin (Guatemala and Mexico), 1838-2018. Methods: We compiled the checklist by systematizing the floristic information acquired from various sources derived from numerous floristic and ecological studies. Results: We recorded 6,977 species, 1,892 genera and 274 families. The largest numbers of species (5,746) and records (58,859) correspond to the Mexican portion of the Usumacinta River Basin, compared to its Guatemalan counterpart (4,445 species and 19,952 records). The most species-rich families were Orchidaceae (598 species), Fabaceae (512), and Asteraceae (476). The prevalence of these and all other families with significant contributions to the flora varied among three elevation-defined sectors into which the Usumacinta River Basin was subdivided (lower, middle, and upper basin). Conclusions: The Usumacinta River Basin is a strategic region for plant biodiversity conservation as it hosts almost one third of all vascular plant species known for Mesoamerica and ca. 6 % of the entire flora in the Americas. Further botanical exploration should focus on those areas of the basin for which little or no information is available in order to gain a better appreciation of its flora.

Abstract Background: Phenylephrine (PHE) produces higher aortothoracic contractile tension with endothelium (T[ON]) compared to potassium chloride (KCl). Both are exponential triphasic responses (Φ1, Φ2, Φ3) but their kinetics have not been compared with the time constant (τ in s). Goal. To study the triphasic T[On] kinetics (τ: Φ1, Φ2(fundamental) and Φ3) of 1μM PHE vs 40mM KCl. Material and methods: We compared numerical values of τ1, τ2, τ3 of the T[On] of prepubertal male Wistar rats (without established reproductive capacity) with adult male ones. Results: Φ2 showed higher gain (g), shorter delay time (s), and faster kinetics of T[On] at PHE than at KCl. Conclusions: In the time course of T[On] only the fundamental exponential phase was faster with PHE than with KCl.

Abstract: The present study validates growth models based on logistic equations to predict and analyze the use of fish viscera hydrolysates as a source of protein for rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) diet. The study examines zootechnical variables such as body weight, total length, and biomass in the fingerling and rearing phases, during seven months of production. The treatments consist of isoproteic and isoenergetic diets with a content of 10%, 15%, and 20% of viscera hydrolysates. A commercial diet is used as a control. The results show that the logistic model explained more than 97% of the variation of the field data, proving to be adequate for assessing the efficiency of using 20% replacement hydrolyzed fish viscera. It is concluded that the logistic model developed here is a useful tool for diagnosing the effectiveness and quality of biological diets in each of the production phases of rainbow trout.

Resumen: El presente estudio valida modelos de crecimiento basados en la ecuación logística para predecir y analizar la utilización de hidrolizados de vísceras de pescado como fuente de proteína de dietas de trucha arcoíris (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Se examinan las variables zootécnicas de peso corporal, longitud total y biomasa en las fases de alevinaje y levante, durante siete meses de producción. Como tratamientos, se analizan dietas isoproteicas e isoenergéticas con un contenido de 10%, 15% y 20% de hidrolizados de vísceras, así como una dieta comercial usada como control. El modelo logístico explica más del 97% de la variación de los datos de campo, demostrando ser adecuado para evaluar la eficiencia de la utilización de vísceras hidrolizadas de pescado en cantidades de 20% de reemplazo. Se concluye que el modelo logístico desarrollado aquí es una herramienta útil para diagnosticar la efectividad de la calidad biológica de las dietas en cada una de las fases de producción de la trucha arcoíris.

Resumen El comportamiento de los componentes de las plantas proteicas es de vital importancia para los animales que los consumen en su dieta. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo evaluar algoritmos de regresión para determinar la conducta de las expresiones que mejor se adaptan a los procedimientos de un laboratorio tradicional y estimar los componentes químicos de plantas proteicas, en este sentido, se ha utilizado la biblioteca MULAN de java, que contiene algoritmos de aprendizaje automático capaces de adaptarse a disímiles problemas. Para ello, se crearon tres conjuntos de datos para cada especie estudiada en este trabajo; cada uno de estos incluye los elementos principales a ser evaluados en cada experimento, que están delimitados por: Metabolitos secundarios, componentes de la pared celular y digestibilidad para los ficheros de entrenamiento uno, dos y tres, respectivamente. Posteriormente, fueron evaluados por medio del aprendizaje supervisado y una validación cruzada de cada uno para determinar el mejor ajuste por aRMSE (Error cuadrático medio de la raíz). Los resultados del aprendizaje fueron comparados con experimentos anteriores, donde se tenía una variante de aprendizaje que contenía en un solo dataset todos los componentes a evaluar en una sola predicción. El resultado de la comparación muestra que los algoritmos vagos basados en instancias tienen un mejor comportamiento en el aprendizaje que los otros evaluados.

Abstract The behavior of components of protein plant is of vital importance for animals that consume them in their diet. The objective of this research is to evaluate regression algorithms, to determine the behavior of the expressions that best adapt to the procedures of a traditional laboratory and to estimate the chemical components of protein plants, in this sense the MULAN library of java has been used, that contain automatic learning algorithms capable of adapting to dissimilar problems. Three data set were created for each species treated in this study; each of these include the main elements to be evaluate in each experiment, these are delimitings by: secondary metabolites, cell wall components and digestibility element for training files one, two and three, respectively; subsequently, they were evaluated through learning supervised and cross-validation of each to determine the best fit by aRMSE (Average Root Mean Square Error). The learning results were compare with previous experiments, where there was a learning variant that contained in a single dataset all the components to be evaluates in a single prediction. The result of the comparison shows that the lazy algorithms based on instances have a better learning behavior than the others evaluate.

ABSTRACT The biological importance of rhizosphere sediment-associated fungi in mangroves is poorly understood, especially when they are affected by high salinity and anaerobiosis in disturbed areas. This study evaluated the fungal diversity in the rhizosphere sediments of three mangrove species associated with three conservation conditions of mangrove forests in preserved, semi-preserved, and deteriorated areas. In addition, fungal bioactivity was correlated to the fungal diversity found in mangrove species from each area. We isolated 50 fungal strains belonging to three phyla, seven classes, and 10 orders. The fungal diversity was higher in the preserved area (H’ = 2.22) than in the semi-preserved (H’ = 1.73) and deteriorated areas (H’ = 1.68); the redundancy analysis showed a tendency of fungal accumulation towards the rhizosphere of Rhizophora mangle and Avicennia germinans in the preserved and semi-preserved areas. In addition, the redundancy analysis showed that 10 bioactive fungi genera tended to accumulate on the rhizosphere of R. mangle and A. germinans in the preserved and semi-preserved areas. The preserved area is related to the semi-preserved area, with a 28% Jaccard similarity coefficient. The diversity and bioactivity of the isolated fungi encourage the need to conserve and restore mangrove ecosystems considering their current and potential services, such as bioprospecting new pharmacological compounds.

Resumen Antecedentes: El cáncer de células pequeñas (CPCP) representa el 13-15% del total de neoplasias primarias de pulmón. Se caracteriza por su rapidez en la tasa de crecimiento y en el desarrollo de metástasis a distancia. Objetivos: Orientar y estandarizar el tratamiento del CPCP enfermedad extensa en México basado en evidencia clínica nacional e internacional. Material y métodos: Este documento se desarrolló como una colaboración del Instituto Nacional de Cancerología y la Sociedad Mexicana de Oncología en cumplimiento con estándares internacionales. Se integró un grupo conformado por oncólogos médicos, cirujanos oncólogos, cirujanos de tórax, radio-oncólogos y metodólogos con experiencia en revisiones sistemáticas de la literatura y guías de práctica clínica. Resultados: Se consensaron, por el método Delphi y en reuniones a distancia, las recomendaciones en CPCP enfermedad extensa, producto de preguntas de trabajo. Se identificó y evaluó la evidencia científica que responde a cada una de dichas preguntas clínicas antes de incorporarla al cuerpo de la guía. Conclusión: Esta guía proporciona recomendaciones clínicas para el manejo de la enfermedad extensa del CPCP y durante el proceso de toma de decisiones de los clínicos involucrados con su manejo en nuestro país para mejorar la calidad de la atención clínica para estos pacientes.

Abstract Background: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) represents 13-15% of all primary lung neoplasms and is characterized by its rapid growth rate and the rapid development of distant metastases. Objectives: To guide and standardize the treatment of extensive disease small cell lung cancer in Mexico based on national and international clinical evidence. Material and methods: This document was developed as a collaboration between the National Cancer Institute and the Mexican Society of Oncology in compliance with international standards. An interdisciplinary group was formed, including medical oncologists, oncological surgeons, thoracic surgeons, radiation oncologists, and methodologists with experience in systematic reviews of the literature and clinical practice guidelines. Results: A consensus was reached, both by the Delphi method and in remote meetings, of extensive disease recommendations resulting from work questions. The scientific evidence that answers each of these clinical questions was identified and critically evaluated, before being incorporated into the body of evidence of the Guide. Conclusions: This Clinical Practice Guide provides clinical recommendations for the management of extensive disease of SCLC to contribute to the decision-making process of the clinicians involved with its management in our country, hoping that this will contribute to improving the quality of clinical care in these patients.

ABSTRACT A study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of ivermectin and albendazole sulfoxide for the control of gastrointestinal nematodes. Thirty Pelibuey ewes were randomly assigned to three experimental groups: Ivermectin 4% (10.2 mg/kg), albendazole sulfoxide 17% (3.75 mg/kg) and an untreated control group. Faecal samples were collected before drug administration (day 0) and on days 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, and 42 post-treatment. The quantitative diagnosis of the eggs was carried out using the McMaster technique and cultures were carried out to recover larvae by the migration method with the Baermann apparatus. The anthelmintic efficacy of the treatments was determined by the Abbott's formula and the effect of anthelmintics on the number of eggs per gram of faeces (EPG) by an analysis of variance with a completely randomized design. The most abundant species were Haemonchus contortus and Strongyloides papillosus. A significant decrease in the amount of EPG was observed from day 7 of treatment with both anthelmintics, with albendazole sulfoxide and ivermectin showing efficacy above 95% from day 7 and 14 post-treatment, respectively, until day 21. At 24 h post-treatment, ivermectin showed lower efficacy than albendazole sulfoxide (69.5 vs 90.9% respectively), but efficacy was similar and above 90% for both drugs from day 7. The efficacy of albendazole sulfoxide against Haemonchus contortus larvae was 88.2% at 24 h post-treatment compared to 69.5% for ivermectin, but only the latter showed an efficacy greater than 95% on days 14 and 21 post-administration. It is concluded that albendazole sulfoxide has a faster effect and a longer efficacy for the control of gastrointestinal nematode eggs, while ivermectin showed greater efficacy for the control of Haemonchus contortus larvae without evidence of resistance to both drugs.

RESUMEN Se realizó un estudio para evaluar la eficacia de la ivermectina y del albendazol sulfóxido para el control de nematodos gastrointestinales. Treinta ovejas Pelibuey fueron asignadas aleatoriamente a tres grupos experimentales: ivermectina al 4% (10.2 mg/kg), albendazol sulfóxido al 17% (3.75 mg/kg) y un grupo control no tratado. Se recolectaron muestras fecales antes de la administración de los fármacos (día 0) y en los días 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 y 42 pos-tratamiento. Se realizó el diagnóstico cuantitativo de los huevos mediante la técnica de McMaster y se realizaron cultivos para recuperar larvas por el método de migración con el aparato de Baermann. La eficacia antihelmíntica de los tratamientos se determinó por medio de la fórmula de Abbott y el efecto de los antihelmínticos sobre la cantidad de huevos por gramos de heces (HPGH) por medio de un análisis de varianza con un diseño completamente al azar. Las especies más abundantes fueron Haemonchus contortus y Strongyloides papillosus. Se observó una disminución significativa en la cantidad de HPGH a partir del día 7 del tratamiento con ambos fármacos, mostrando el albendazol sulfóxido y la ivermectina una eficacia por encima del 95% a partir del día 7 y 14 postratamiento, respectivamente, hasta el día 21. La eficacia del albendazol sulfóxido contra larvas de Haemonchus contortus fue de 88.2% a las 24 h pos-tratamiento en comparación con el 69.5% de la ivermectina, pero solo esta última mostró una eficacia superior al 95% los días 14 y 21 postadminstración. Se concluye que el albendazol sulfóxido tiene un efecto más rápido y una eficacia más prolongada para el control de huevos de nemátodos gastrointestinales, mientras que la ivermectina mostró una mayor eficacia para el control de larvas de Hamonchus contortus sin indicios de resistencia a ambos fármacos.

RESUMEN La rinitis alérgica (RA) es una de las enfermedades crónicas más frecuentes de la infancia. Sin embargo, permanece subdiagnosticada y subtratada. Su prevalencia ha aumentado en los últimos años y varía del 2 % al 25 %. Los síntomas de la RA incluyen estornudos, prurito, rinorrea y congestión nasal. Un correcto diagnóstico y tratamiento de la RA y sus comorbilidades, tales como rinosinusitis con o sin poliposis nasal, conjuntivitis, otitis media, asma bronquial e infecciones del tracto respiratorio, son importantes para reducir el impacto negativo en la afectación de la calidad de vida del paciente y sus familiares, y los gastos sanitarios que ocasiona. La inmunoterapia alérgeno específica, en pacientes correctamente seleccionados, previene nuevas sensibilizaciones y reduce la hiperreactividad bronquial asociada a la RA. Considerando todos estos factores, el Comité Nacional de Alergia de la Sociedad Argentina de Pediatría propone recomendaciones basadas en la evidencia actual.

ABSTRACT Allergic rhinitis (AR) is one of the most common chronic diseases in children. However, it remains underdiagnosed and undertreated. Its prevalence has increased in recent years and varies from 2 to 25 %. Symptoms include sneezing, itching, runny nose, and nasal congestion. A correct diagnosis and treatment of AR and its comorbidities such as rhinosinusitis with or without nasal polyposis, conjunctivitis, otitis media, bronchial asthma and respiratory tract infections, are important to reduce the negative impact on the quality of life of the patient and their relatives, and in medical costs. Specific allergen immunotherapy, in correctly selected patients, prevents new sensitizations and reduces bronchial hyperreactivity associated with AR. Taking into account all these reasons, the National Allergy Committee of the Sociedad Argentina de Pediatría proposes current evidence based recommendations.

Resumen Antecedentes: Los diagnósticos tardíos elevan los costes de atención del cáncer de mama. Objetivo: Analizar los costes directos de la atención del cáncer de mama en etapa temprana y avanzada en el tercer nivel de atención en el Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS). Método: Estudio observacional que compara los costes directos de atención en cáncer de mama en estadios clínicos inicial y avanzado. Los datos analizados fueron estudios de laboratorio, gabinete, tratamiento y hospitalización. El tiempo evaluado incluyó desde la primera atención hasta la finalización del primer tratamiento. Se determinaron los costes de acuerdo con la tabla de Costes Unitarios por Nivel de Atención Médica para el año 2019 del IMSS. Se utilizó la prueba t de Student para diferencias entre grupos, así como estadística descriptiva. Resultados: El estadio avanzado, comparado con el estadio inicial, ocasiona un número mayor de estudios de laboratorio-gabinete, cirugías, día/cama e interconsultas. El coste promedio de la atención del cáncer de mama por paciente es $99,280,36 (US$5,230.78) y $148,023.60 (US$7,789.92) para los estadios inicial y avanzado, respectivamente (p = 0.024). Conclusiones: El coste de la atención médica del estadio inicial es menor que el del estadio avanzado.

Abstract Background: Management of breast cancer is increased by late diagnoses. Objective: To analyse direct costs of breast cancer in early and advanced stage in a third level medical facility at Mexican Social Security Institute. Method: Observational study, direct costs of care in breast cancer in initial and advanced clinical stages are compared. Variables analysed were laboratory and diagnostic imaging studies, drugs, as well as hospitalization costs. The evaluated period included from the first care to the completion of the treatment. Costs were determined according to the table of Unit Costs by Level of Medical Care for the year 2019 of the Mexican Social Security Institute. Student's t test was used to determinate differences between groups, as well as descriptive statistics. Results: The advanced stage compared to the initial stage, causes a greater number of laboratory-cabinet studies, surgeries, day/bed and interconsultations. The average cost of breast cancer care per patient is $99,280.36 (US$5,230.78) and $148,023.60 (US$7,789.92) for the initial and advanced stages, respectively (p = 0.024). Conclusions: Cost of medical attention in the initial stage is lower than that of the advanced stage.

ABSTRACT Background Reduced or null expression of E-cadherin protein is a frequent cause of diffuse gastric cancer (DGC). More than 50% of patients with DGC present somatic variants in CDH1 gene. Objectives The objectives of this study were to study E-cadherin expression and identify variants in the CDH1 gene in gastric tumors of patients with DGC. Methods We studied 18 Mexican DGC patients who attended a hospital of the Mexican Social Security Institute; E-cadherin expression was determined by immunohistochemistry, and variants were identified by Sanger sequencing in promoter and coding regions. Predictive analysis was performed using PolyPhen-2 and HOPE software. Results We found that 56% of DGC patients showed reduced expression of E-cadherin. All patients carried CDH1 variants; overall, 12 different CDH1 variants were identified. Predictive analysis revealed that the rs114265540 variant was probably damaging, with a value of 0.985, indicating a functional impact on the E-cadherin protein. Variants rs34939176 and rs33964119 were identified as risk factors for DGC (odds' ratios [OR] = 31.3, 95% CI 6.3-154.0, p < 0.001; OR = 6.1, 95% CI 2.0-19.0, p < 0.001, respectively) given their elevated frequency and by comparing it with those reported for MXL population in the 1000 Genomes Project database. Conclusions In this Mexican population, the percentage of diffuse gastric tumors with reduced expression of E-cadherin was similar to that reported in other populations. All gastric tumors of DGC patients studied had somatic CDH1 gene variants; however, the rs114265540, rs34939176, and rs33964119 variants were importantly related to DGC.

Resumen: El cultivo del ñame es de alta importancia para la seguridad alimentaria de las familias rurales en la región Caribe de Colombia. Uno de los principales problemas tecnológicos que enfrentan los pequeños productores es la baja calidad y disponibilidad de la semilla para las siembras. El presente trabajo se realizó con el objeto de evaluar la tecnología de producción de minitubérculos en plántulas de ñame generadas a partir de esquejes, mediante inducción con rizobacterias. Para ello, inicialmente se evaluó in vitro la capacidad de producción de fitohormonas de tres rizobacterias, identificadas con los códigos DCR11 (Azotobacter vinelandii), DSC21 (Brevibacillus laterosporus) y DSC1 (Bacillus licheniformis), y una vez comprobada su capacidad, se estableció un experimento bajo condiciones de casa de malla para inducir, con las rizobacterias, la producción de minitubérculos en las plántulas de ñame, bajo tres niveles de sombreamiento. Se utilizó un diseño experimental completamente al azar con arreglo en parcelas subdivididas y tres repeticiones, en donde la parcela principal correspondió a los niveles de sobreamiento (0, 65 y 80%), las subparcelas a las tres rizobacterias (DCR11 A. vinelandii, DSC1 B. licheniformis, DSC21 B. laterosporus) y las sub-subparcelas a las dosis del inóculo (0, 2, 4 y 6 mL pl-1). Los resultados in vitro demostraron el potencial de las rizobacterias para producir citoquinas y auxinas. En casa de malla se logró evidenciar la capacidad de producción de minitubérculos por parte de las plántulas de ñame, en donde las rizobacterias DSC1 B. licheniformis y DSC21 B. laterosporus mostraron mayor capacidad de inducción. A partir de los resultados se demostró la viabilidad de producción de minitubérculos en plántulas de ñame bajo condiciones de casa de malla mediante inducción con rizobacterias, por lo que se recomendó su validación a nivel semicomercial como estrategia para la producción masiva de minitubérculos de ñame, como alternativa para la siembra de cultivos comerciales.

Summary: Yam cultivation is of high importance for the food security of rural families in the Caribbean region of Colombia. One of the main technological problems faced by small yam producers is the low quality and availability of seed for planting. The present work was carried out to evaluate the technology of minitubers production in yam seedlings generated from cuttings, by induction with rhizobacteria. For this purpose, the phytohormone production capacity of three rhizobacteria, identified with the codes DCR11 (Azotobacter vinelandii), DSC21 (Brevibacillus laterosporus), and DSC1 (Bacillus licheniformis), was initially evaluated in vitro, and once their capacity was verified, an experiment was established under mesh house conditions to induce, with rhizobacteria, the production of mini-tubers in yam seedlings under three levels of shading. A completely randomized experimental design with subdivided plots and three replications was used, where the main plot corresponded to the shade levels (0, 65 and 80%), the subplots to the rhizobacteria (DCR11 A. vinelandii, DSC1 B. licheniformis, DSC21 B. laterosporus), and the sub-subplots at the inoculum doses (0, 2, 4 and 6 mL pl-1). The in vitro results demonstrated the potential of rhizobacteria to produce cytokines and auxins. In mesh house, the capacity of yam seedlings to produce mini-tubers was demonstrated, where the rhizobacteria DSC1 B. licheniformis and DSC21 B. laterosporus showed greater induction capacity. The results demonstrated the feasibility of minitubers production in yam seedlings under mesh house conditions by induction with rhizobacteria, and therefore, its validation at a semi-commercial level is recommended as a strategy for mass production of yam minitubers, as an alternative for the planting of commercial crops.

Abstract Introduction: In cholelithiasis, lipid and histopathological alterations have been found and suggest the accumulation of lipids in the gallbladder tissue (cholesterolosis), due to the few existing reports a study was carried out to determine their association. Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate the association between the lipid profile and gallbladder histopathology in patients with cholelithiasis undergoing cholecystectomy. Methodology: An observational, cross-sectional, analytical, and prospective study was carried out in a group of patients from the Hospital General de México “Eduardo Liceaga” undergoing elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy from January 2015 to January 2020. With approval of the protocol by the ethics and research committee, the following variables were considered: age, sex, BMI, comorbidities (diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, cirrhosis), LDL-C, HDL-C, total cholesterol, triglycerides, and histopathological findings (cholesterolosis, polyps, xanthogranulomatosis, acute cholecystitis, and cholecystitis chronicle). A descriptive and inferential analysis was performed with SPSS v.24. It was considered p < 0.05 as significant. Results: From a group of 302 patients, 133 cases (108 women and 25 men) were included in the study. They presented overweight (39%) and obesity (33%), the lipid profile with hypoalphalipoproteinemia (61%), hypertriglyceridemia (40%), hypercholesterolemia (17%), and elevated LDL-C (16%); and in histopathology chronic cholecystitis (70%), cholesterolosis (28%), and acute cholecystitis (7%). Discussion: Our sample is representative of the Mexican population (in physical characteristics and lipid profile). However, no significant association was found between dyslipidemia and histopathological findings.

Resumen Objetivo: El índice de eficiencia miocárdica (IEM) correlaciona el consumo miocárdico de oxígeno (MVO2) con el consumo máximo de oxígeno, el cual proporciona información sobre la eficiencia cardiovascular (EfCV). En deportistas, el IEM mejora posterior a un microciclo de entrenamiento, en el paciente con enfermedad cardiovascular sometido a un programa de rehabilitación cardiaca y prevención secundaria PRHCyPS, el comportamiento del IEM podría resultar un estimador relacionado con mejoría derivado de un periodo de entrenamiento. El objetivo del estudio fue determinar el comportamiento del IEM posterior a un PRCyPS en pacientes con cardiopatías y riesgo cardiovascular alto (RCVA). Métodos: Estudio de cohorte ambilectivo, descriptivo, analítico, no aleatorizado. Se seleccionaron pacientes con cardiopatías de etiología mixta con RCVA ingresados a un PRCyPS durante 4-6 semanas. A todos los pacientes se les realizó una prueba de ejercicio máximo en banda antes y después del PRCyPS. Se determinaron umbrales de consumo de oxígeno (VO2) pico, equivalentes metabólicos-carga, doble producto e IEM. Se estableció un punto de corte del IEM mediante una curva ROC con un valor de 7.37 con un área bajo la curva de 0.68 (IC 95%: 0.61-0.76; p < 0.001), sensibilidad 0.60 y 1-especificidad de 0.35. Resultados: Se incluyeron 193 pacientes con una media de edad de 62.3 años, en su mayoría del sexo masculino (66.2%). Se observaron porcentajes de cambio en el IEM –27.1% (p < 0.001), MET 43.1% (p < 0.001), doble producto 5.7% (p < 0.01) y MVO2: 8.3% (p < 0.01) al término del PRCyPS. Conclusiones: Se observó un cambio significativo en el IEM posterior a un PRCyPS, lo cual se asoció a una mejoría en la EfCV, sugiriendo que este pueda considerarse como un parámetro clínico que evaluar en los programas de rehabilitación cardiaca.

Abstract Objective: The myocardial efficiency index (MEI) correlates the Myocardial Oxygen Consumption (MVO2) with the Maximum Oxygen Consumption (VO2max), this index provides information about the cardiovascular efficiency (CVEf). In athletes, the MEI improves after a micro-cycle training, however in patients with cardiovascular disease undergoing Cardiac Rehabilitation Program (CRP), IEM behavior could be a good estimator related to the improvement training period. The objective of this study was to determine the myocardial efficiency index behavior in patients with heart disease and high cardiovascular risk (HCVR) after a CRP. Methods: Ambilective, descriptive, analytical, non-randomized cohort study was conducted. Patients with heart disease of mixed etiology and HCVR admitted to a CRP for 4-6 weeks were selected. All patients performed a maximal exercise test in band before and after the CPR. Thresholds of VO2 peak, METs-load, Double product (DP) and MEI were determined. A cut-off point for the MEI was established using a ROC curve with a value of 7.37, area under the curve: 0.68 (95% CI 0.61 - 0.76, p < 0.001), sensitivity 0.60 and 1-specificity 0.35. Results: 193 patients with a mean age of 62.3 years were included, predominantly men (66.2%). Percentages changes in the MEI-27.1% (p < 0.001),METs-43.1% (p < 0.001),DP 5.7% (p < 0.01), and MVO2: 8.3% (p < 0.01) were observed at the end of CRP. Conclusions: Significant change in the MEI were observed after CRP associated to CVEf improvement, suggesting that this parameter could be considered as a good clinical tool in the CRP care programs.
