Abstract In this research article, we delimitate the definition of mild solution for abstract fractional differential equations with state-dependent delay (AFDEw/SDD) of order α ∈ (1, 2) with impulsive effects and compare the solution to the second-order impulsive differential equations. Further, we obtain sufficient conditions of the existence of mild solution for instantaneous and non-instantaneous impulsive fractional functional differential inclusions with state-dependent delay (IFDIw/SDD) using the multi-valued fixed point theory and operator techniques. Furthermore, we study the trajectory controllability (T −controllability) of the AFDEw/SDD. At last, we present some examples to illustrate the sufficient conditions involving partial and ordinary derivatives.

Resumen En este artículo de investigación, delimitamos la definición de solución mild para ecuaciones diferenciales fraccionarias con retardo dependiente del estado (AFDEw/SDD) de orden α ∈ (1, 2) con efectos impulsivos y comparamos la solución con aquellas de ecuaciones diferenciales impulsivas de segundo orden. Además obtenemos condiciones suficientes para la existencia de soluciones mild de inclusiones funcionales diferenciales fraccionales instantánea y no-instantáneamente impulsivas con retardo dependiente del estado (IFDIw/SDD) usando la teoría de punto fijo multivaluados y técnicas de operadores. Más aún, estudiamos la controlabilidad por trayectoria (T −controlabilidad) de los AFDEw/SDD. Finalmente, presentamos algunos ejemplos para ilustrar las condiciones suficientes que involucran derivadas parciales y ordinarias.

Abstract Background Melatonin has been studied to have anxiolytic, sedative, and analgesic effects. However, there is limited data on the effect of melatonin in the attenuation of hemodynamic response to intubation. We aimed to study whether preanesthetic oral melatonin attenuates hemodynamic responses to intubation and anesthetic requirements. Methods Sixty-four patients scheduled for laparoscopic cholecystectomy were randomized into melatonin or placebo group (n = 32 each). Melatonin group received two tablets (3 mg each) of melatonin, and the placebo group received two tablets of vitamin D3 120 min before induction. Hemodynamic parameters were recorded during induction and postintubation for 15 minutes. Total induction dose of propofol, total intraoperative fentanyl consumption, and adverse effects of melatonin were also noted. Results Postintubation rise in heart rate (HR) was less in the melatonin group compared to the placebo group (10.59% vs. 37.08% at 1 min, respectively) (p< 0.0001). Maximum percentage increase in systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and mean blood pressure (MBP) was lesser in melatonin group than placebo group (SBP 9.25% vs. 37.73%, DBP 10.58% vs. 35.51%, MBP 9.99% vs. 36.45% at 1 min postintubation. respectively) (p< 0.0001). Induction dose of propofol (1.42 mg.kg-1 vs. 2.01 mg.kg-1) and the number of patients requiring additional fentanyl intraoperatively (3 vs. 11) were also significantly reduced in the melatonin group. Conclusion Premedication with 6 mg of oral melatonin resulted in significant attenuation of postintubation rise in HR, SBP, DBP, and MBP. It also reduced the induction dose of propofol, total intraoperative fentanyl consumption without any adverse effects.

Abstract Background Functional evacuation disorder (FED) is the second most common cause of functional constipation (FC) after constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome. However, the data on FED is relatively scanty in our region. Hence, the present study was performed to evaluate the demographics of FED and to find out the predictors of FED in patients with chronic constipation. Methods A total of 134 patients with chronic constipation diagnosed according to the Rome IV criteria who were referred for high-resolution anorectal manometry (HRAM) were retrospectively enrolled in the present study. All FC patients who underwent HRAM were asked to fill a questionnaire and underwent anorectal manometry and were submitted to the balloon expulsion test (BET). Results The mean age of patients was 43.09 ± 9.32 years old, with a total of 76 (54%) males. The most common symptom was straining during defecation (87%) followed by incomplete evacuation (86%). The prevalence of FED, diagnosed by HRAM and by the BET was 39%. Patients with FED had a significantly higher percentage of straining and sensation of anorectal blockade compared with those without FED (96 versus 82%; p < 0.01; 81 versus 44%; p < 0.001, respectively). On the multivariate regression analysis, straining > 30 minutes (odds ratio [OR] = 3.63; p = 0.03), maximum squeeze pressure (OR = 1.05; p < 0.001), and balloon volume at maximal sensation (OR = 1.06; p < 0.001) were found to be significant independent predictors of FED. Conclusion Prolonged straining and sensation of anorectal blockade were significant indicators of FED in patients with chronic constipation.

ABSTRACT Recent advances in nanotechnology and the synthesis of nanoparticles through biosynthesis have increased the urge in scientists than for chemical or physical methods. The biosynthesis method is the most significant method than a conventional method because of its eco-friendly, low cost and rapid synthesizing process. The present study describes the antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized from leaf extracts of Dypsis lutescens. The synthesis of AgNPs was confirmed by colour change from light yellow to brown colour. Further, the morphology of the biosynthesized nanoparticles, average size and presence of functional groups were characterized by UV – Visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, respectively. The UV spectra results show a strong resonance center and surface of silver nanoparticles at 450 nm. XRD studies revealed that the synthesized AgNPs show crystalline in shape. The FT-IR spectrum described the biological molecules which stabilize and form the silver nanoparticles in the aqueous medium. The average AgNPs size was found to be 31 nm by using the Debye-Scherrer formula. The antimicrobial property of AgNPs was tested against Escherichia coli (MTCC 443) and Vibrio cholerae (MTCC 3906) pathogen, which showed maximum zones of inhibition of 22 mm at a concentration of 100 μL. Therefore, the biosynthesized AgNPs proved to have significant antibacterial activity.

Abstract Nanotechnology has been used in the field of medicine and pharmacology for its greater efficacy of drug delivery than crude molecules of drugs. In the present study medicinal mushroom Ganoderma applanatum extract mediated silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized, characterized by Ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis.) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction, Dynamic light scattering (DLS) and Furior transform-infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Maximum absorbance was recorded at 435nm by UV-Vis. The synthesized nanoparticles of 13.54nm-255nm in size with an average particle size of 58.77nm were analyzed by DLS. FTIR-Spectroscopy provided high transmission at 3606cm-1 corresponds for phenolic capping biochemical. Thus G. applanatum extract can be used for synthesis of silver nanoparticles and the synthesized nanoparticles may be used for development of future therapeutic agent for treatment of diseases.

Abstract Background Fistula-in-ano is one of the most common clinical condition encountered in a surgical outpatient department. Many treatment modalities have been described with variable outcomes but gold standard surgical treatment is yet to be agreed upon. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the treatment outcomes of ligature of intersphincteric fistula tract (LIFT) technique in the treatment of simple and complex fistula-in-ano with the primary objective of recurrence rate and broad objective of other postoperative complications during the period of study and after long-term follow-up. Methods It is a retrospective study of prospectively collected data from the patients who havebeen operated for fistula-in-ano using the LIFT technique at our institute from February 2018 to March 2020 and followed-up until September 2020. Results A total of 56 patients with fistula-in-ano were treated with the LIFT procedure during the study period, of which 20 patients had simple fistula and 36 had complex fistula. A success rate of 83% was obtained with completely healed fistulas in 46 patients. No patient developed postoperative incontinence. Conclusion Ligature of intersphincteric fistula tract is an effective treatmentmodality for fistula-in-ano with less procedure-related morbidity, but it is associated with a higher recurrence rate in simple fistula than in complex fistula.

Resumo Este estudo investiga a capacidade de enraizamento e o desempenho de crescimento das posições inferiores e superiores dos ramos e do tipo de estaca, ou seja, madeira macia e dura, com folhas e sem folhas de Tecoma stans (L.) Kunth. As estacas foram coletadas de plantas com 4 anos de idade, crescendo no Campus Chauras de H.N.B. Garhwal University Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand, Índia. O enraizamento das estacas foi estudado sob os tratamentos de ácido indol-3-butírico (IBA) e ácido indol 3-ácido (IAA) nas concentrações de 0,0%, 0,3%, 0,4%, 0,5% em ambos os hormônios. A resposta de enraizamento foi significativamente (p<0,05) melhor em 0,4% de AIB em comparação com os outros tratamentos e controle (0% de AIB e AIA). A razão número de raízes para estacas enraizadas e comprimento da raiz para estacas enraizadas nos diferentes tratamentos apresentou diferenças significativas (p<0,05). As estacas enraizadas foram posteriormente transferidas para os sacos de polietileno e transferidas para condições de viveiro aberto. Sob tais condições, as estacas enraizadas tratadas com 0,4% e 0,5% de AIB demonstraram a maior (90% a 100%) capacidade de sobrevivência na porção inferior de madeira macia e estacas folhosas. A planta cultivável e a altura da planta foram maiores no tratamento com concentração de 0,4% de AIB. Os resultados do estudo sugerem que o enraizamento de estacas de caule de madeira macia com posição inferior e folhas pode ser um meio eficaz de regeneração de T. stans. Além disso, a aplicação do tratamento com concentração de 0,4% de AIB é apropriada para o enraizamento de estacas juvenis com folhas em câmara de neblina.

Abstract This study investiges the rooting ability and the growth performance of lower and upper shoot positions and type of the cuttings, i.e. soft and hard wood and leafy and non leafy, of Tecoma stans (L.) Kunth. The cuttings were collected from 4-year old plants growing in the Chauras Campus of H.N.B. Garhwal University Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand, India. The rooting ability of cuttings was studied under the treatments of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) and Indole 3-acidic acid (IAA) under 0.0%, 0.3%, 0.4%, 0.5% concentration in both hormones. The rooting response was significantly (p < 0.05) better in 0.4% IBA compared to other treatments and control (0% IBA and IAA). The ratio of number of roots to rooted cuttings and length of root to rooted cuttings in the different treatments showed significant differences (p < 0.05). The rooted cuttings were further transferred, into the polythene bags and shifted to open nursery conditions. Under such conditions, the rooted cuttings treated with 0.4% and 0.5% IBA demonstrated the highest (90% to 100%) survival capacity in the lower portion soft wood and leafy stem cuttings. Plantable plant and plant height was greater in the 0.4% IBA concentration treatment. The results of the study suggest that rooting of soft wood stem cuttings having lower position and leaves could be an effective mean of regenerating to T. stans. Furthermore, the application of 0.4% IBA concentration treatment is appropriate for rooting of juvenile leafy stem cuttings in a mist chamber.

Abstract Introduction: Reconstruction of right ventricular outflow tract during primary repair of tetralogy of Fallot often requires the placement of a transannular patch which results in pulmonary regurgitation (PR). We compared the short-term outcomes of bicuspid polytetrafluoroethylene membrane valve versus transannular pericardial patch reconstruction of the right ventricular outflow tract. Methods: Thirty consecutive patients undergoing primary repair of tetralogy of Fallot were randomly allocated to two groups - polytetrafluoroethylene valve (PTFEV) group (n=15) and transannular pericardial patch (TAP) group (n=15). The two groups had similar preoperative demographic characteristics. We compared the short-term clinical and echocardiographic outcomes between these groups. The transthoracic echocardiographic follow-up was performed at one week, one month and six months after surgery. Results: The PTFEV group had significantly lower central venous pressure in the immediate postoperative period compared to the TAP group (7.60±2.06 vs. 10.13±1.73, P=0.002). Extubation time was significantly shorter in the PTFEV group compared to the TAP group (12.93±7.55 hrs vs. 22.23±15.11 hrs, P=0.04). PR in the PTFEV group was absent in five patients at 24 hours post-surgery. At the study endpoint, PR was absent in six, trivial in one and mild in eight patients in the PTFEV group compared to TAP group, where all 15 patients had severe PR. Conclusion: The bicuspid polytetrafluoroethylene membrane valves significantly decrease the central venous pressure in the immediate postoperative period, facilitate early extubation and, thus, prevent ventilator-related comorbidities. They achieve a high degree of pulmonary competence and do not increase the right ventricular outflow tract gradient in short-term follow-up.

ABSTRACT Metastatic gallbladder carcinoma to the ovaries is occasional but a recognized entity. It can mimic, clinical and morphologically, a primary ovarian tumor, challenging the diagnosis. We present the case of a patient with a lump in the hypogastrium extending into the right iliac fossa and was found to have abdominopelvic cystic lesion with enhancing solid components and multiple sub-centimetric and ill-defined abdominal lymph nodes. Also, subpleural and parenchymal nodules in the lungs were present. She subsequently underwent a laparotomy. Cholecystectomy was also done due to pre-existing symptomatic biliary lithiasis. The histologic report described the ovarian involvement as metastases from a gallbladder carcinoma. The presentation of ovarian metastases can challenge the diagnosis. Hence, careful evaluation of the digestive tract and judicious use of immunohistochemistry should be considered in patients presenting with ovarian masses.

ABSTRACT Myositis ossificans (MO) is a benign, ossifying lesion that usually affects the skeletal muscle. The rare non-traumatic form of MO can cause diagnostic dilemma and management issues. These lesions, however, have similar radiology and histopathological characteristics described in the more frequently encountered traumatic forms. Depending on the stage of the lesion, the inherent feature of myositis ossificans varies, and so does the management of the lesion. We describe a non-traumatic MO occurring in latissimus dorsi of a young girl and discuss the review of literature on this rare subtype.

Resumo O Semiárido brasileiro, com frequência, é afetado por secas prolongadas. No período 2010-2017, a região semiárida brasileira enfrentou a “Seca do Século”, considerada a pior já registrada na história do País. Este artigo tem o objetivo de fazer uma avaliação histórica das várias fases de políticas hídricas, implementadas na região, com o intuito de promover a convivência com a seca. Com base em investigações históricas documentais e em monitoramento por satélites dos impactos das secas, foram analisadas as ações governamentais, que contribuíram para proporcionar uma maior disponibilidade de agua na região semiárida brasileira, com foco no estudo da efetividade da governança hídrica e nos impactos das tecnologias sociais para armazenamento de agua da chuva, em comunidades rurais difusas. Os resultados da pesquisa evidenciaram que as políticas historicamente implementadas, geralmente em um modelo centralizado, não foram efetivas para desenvolver a região. Recentemente, o acesso às tecnologias sociais hídricas descentralizadas, nas áreas rurais, tem apresentado resultados positivos. Todavia, ainda não é uma realidade universal a toda a população que vive na região. Assim, conclui-se que as políticas hídricas ainda são insuficientes para fazer frente aos impactos das secas. O estudo oferece lições históricas importantes para a governança das águas nos dias atuais.

Resumen El semiárido brasileño frecuentemente se ve afectado por sequías prolongadas. Durante el período 2010-2017, la región semiárida brasileña enfrentó la “sequía del siglo”, considerada la peor registrada en la historia del país. Este artículo tiene como objetivo hacer una evaluación histórica de diferentes fases de las políticas públicas implementadas en la región, con el fin de promover la convivencia con la sequía. Con base en una investigación histórica documental y el monitoreo satelital de los impactos de las sequías, se analizaron las acciones gubernamentales que contribuyeron a brindar una mayor disponibilidad de agua en la región semiárida brasileña, con énfasis en el análisis de la efectividad de la gestión del agua y los impactos de las tecnologías sociales para el almacenamiento del agua de lluvia en comunidades rurales dispersas. Los resultados de la investigación evidenciaron que las políticas implementadas a lo largo de la historia, con frecuencia en un modelo centralizado, no fueron efectivas en el desarrollo de la región. Recientemente, el acceso a las tecnologías sociales hídricas descentralizadas en las zonas rurales, están mostrando resultados positivos. Sin embargo, aún no es una realidad universal para la población que vive en la región. Por tanto, se concluye que las políticas hídricas siguen siendo insuficientes para hacer frente a los impactos de las sequías. El estudio aporta importantes lecciones históricas para la gestión del agua en la actualidad.

Resumen Objetivo. Evaluar el uso de las redes sociales y el estilo de vida promotores de salud los estudiantes de enfermería hindúes. Métodos. Se hizo un estudio de corte transversal con la participación de 125 estudiantes (89 de pregrado y 36 de posgrado) de varias universidades de enfermería en India brindaron información sobre datos sociodemográficos, la Escala de adicción a las redes sociales de Bergen (BSMAS) y el Perfil de estilos de vida promotores de salud (HPLP-II). Resultados. Con respecto al BSMAS los participantes tuvieron un promedio de 12.8 (máximo posible = 30); un 42% reportó que con frecuencia tenía retraso en el sueño debido al uso de las redes sociales; un 9% tiene uso excesivo de las redes sociales; por sexo, los hombres tuvieron mayor puntaje total que las mujeres. Pasando al Perfil de estilos de vida promotores de salud -HPLP-II- el promedio total fue de 126.9 (Máximo posible = 208); no se observó diferencia por sexo en el puntaje total y los hombres tuvieron mejor puntaje en el dominio de actividad física; los estudiantes que residen con su familia tienen mayor puntaje en el dominio de responsabilidad en salud que los que viven solos; y los estudiantes de posgrado tienen mejores puntajes que los de pregrado en el total de la escala y en los dominios de responsabilidad de salud, las relaciones espirituales y las relaciones interpersonales. Conclusión. Hay un uso excesivo de las redes sociales, especialmente entre los estudiantes varones. Este estudio también reveló puntuaciones más bajas de las deseadas en los dominios de estilos de vida promotores de la salud, especialmente para la actividad física, la responsabilidad de la salud, el manejo del estrés y la nutrición. Por lo tanto, los hallazgos se pueden utilizar para mejorar la alfabetización en salud en las redes sociales, así como para promover un estilo de vida positivo entre los estudiantes de enfermería.

Abstract Objective. To evaluate the use of social media and the health promoting lifestyle profile of indian nursing students. Methods. A cross-sectional study was carried out with 125 students (89 undergraduate and 36 graduate) from various Nursing universities in India, who provided information on their sociodemographic data, the Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS) and the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile (HPLP-II). Results. Regarding the BSMAS, the participants had an average of 12.8 (maximum possible = 30); 42% reported they frequently delayed their sleep due to using social media; 9% had excessive use of social media; by gender, men had higher total score than women. With respect to the health promoting lifestyle profile, the total average was 126.9 (maximum possible = 208); no difference was observed by gender in the total score and men scored better in the domain of physical activity; students living with their families had higher scores in the domain of health responsibility than those living alone; and graduate students had better scores than undergraduate students in the scale total and in the domains of health responsibility, spiritual relations, and interpersonal relations. Conclusion: There is excessive use of social media, especially among male students. This study also revealed lower scores than those desired in the domains of Health Promoting Lifestyle, especially for physical activity, health responsibility, stress management, and nutrition. Thereby, the findings may be used to improve health literacy on social media, as well as promote a positive lifestyle among nursing students.

Resumo. Objetivo. Avaliar o uso de redes sociais e promotores de saúde no estilo de vida de estudantes de enfermagem hindus. Métodos. Foi realizado um estudo transversal com a participação de 125 estudantes (89 de graduação e 36 de pós-graduação) de várias universidades de enfermagem da Índia, que forneceram informações sobre dados sociodemográficos, a Escala de Adição de redes sociais Bergen (BSMAS) e o Perfil dos promotores de saúde no estilo de vida (HPLP-II). Resultados. Em relação à Escala de Dependência em Redes Sociais - BSMAS - os participantes tiveram uma média de 12.8 (máximo possível = 30); 42% relataram que frequentemente tiveram atraso no sono devido ao uso de redes sociais; 9% fazem uso excessivo de redes sociais; por sexo, os homens tiveram uma pontuação total mais alta que as mulheres. Indo para o Perfil de Estilo de Vida dos Promotores de Saúde - HPLP-II -, a média total foi de 126.9 (Máximo possível = 208); nenhuma diferença foi observada por sexo na pontuação total e os homens tiveram melhor pontuação no domínio da atividade física; os estudantes que residem com suas famílias obtêm pontuação mais alta no domínio da responsabilidade em saúde do que os que moram sozinhos; e os estudantes de pós-graduação obtêm uma pontuação melhor do que os graduados na escala geral e nos domínios de responsabilidade com a saúde, relacionamentos espirituais e relacionamentos interpessoais. Conclusão. Há um uso excessivo de redes sociais, especialmente entre estudantes do sexo masculino. Este estudo também revelou pontuações mais baixas do que o desejado nos domínios do estilo de vida que promovem a saúde, especialmente em atividade física, responsabilidade em saúde, controle do estresse e nutrição. Portanto, os resultados podem ser usados para melhorar a alfabetização em saúde nas redes sociais, bem como para promover um estilo de vida positivo entre os estudantes de enfermagem.

Abstract The aim of this split mouth, double blinded, randomized clinical trial was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of use of Plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) as an adjunct to scaling and root planing (SRP) in the treatment of periodontal pockets. Twenty six patients (15 males, 11 females) diagnosed with generalized periodontitis with Pocket Depth > 5mm and plaque index score < 1.5, were randomly allocated by using computer generated random sequence, into two groups, one treated with intra-pocket application of PRGF adjunct to SRP and other with SRP alone. The clinical outcomes like pocket depth (PD), relative attachment level (RAL) and sulcus bleeding index (SBI) were assessed at baseline, 3 months and 6 months. Twenty two patients (44 sites) were analyzed at the end of 6 month follow-up, using SPSS 20.0v software. There was a significant statistical difference observed between both the groups favouring SRP +PRGF group in terms of PD (p = 0.007) and RAL (p = 0.021) at the end of 6 month follow-up. Also there was a statistical significant difference (< 0.001) at all time points compared to baseline, for all parameters in intra-group comparison. Moreover, the sites with PD>4mm necessitating further treatment after 6-month follow-up were significantly lesser for SRP+PRGF group. The use of PRGF technology in non-surgical periodontal therapy, by single intra-pocket application in to periodontal pockets as an adjunct to SRP, in chronic periodontitis patients, was found to be effective in reduction of pocket depth and gain in clinical attachment level.

ABSTRACT Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a heritable neuromuscular disorder which encompasses a large group of genetic disorders characterized by slowly progressive degeneration of lower motor neurons. The mutation is seen in the SMN1 gene mapped on chromosome 5. Depending on the age of the onset and the degree of severity, SMA has three subtypes. We discuss the autopsy findings in a case of Type 1 SMA also known by the name Werdnig-Hoffmann disease, to highlight the primary changes in the spinal cord, and skeletal muscle with association changes in the liver and terminal respiratory complications.

Resumen Objetivo. Explorar la relación entre los niveles de estrés y resiliencia con el uso del teléfono móvil en estudiantes hindúes de enfermería. Métodos. Estudio de corte transversal realizado con 102 estudiantes de enfermería de varias escuelas de enfermería en la India a quienes se invitó a participar en la investigación. Los datos se recopilaron con la ayuda de los siguientes instrumentos: Percibed Stress Scale (PSS) de Cohen, The Connor-Davidson Resilience scale (CD-RISC) y Mobile Phone Involvement Questionnaire (MPIQ) de Walsh. Resultados. La mayoría de los participantes fueron mujeres (94.1%), estudiaban pregrado (70.6%) y tenían un promedio de edad de 25.2 años. El 77.5% de los estudiantes tenía una percepción de estrés entre moderada y alta; el 20.6% tenía alta capacidad de resiliencia y el 25.5% eran usuarios frecuentes de teléfonos móviles. El estrés percibido se correlacionó significativamente y de manera negativa con la edad y la capacidad de resiliencia. Los estudiantes de posgrado tuvieron mayor capacidad de recuperación que los estudiantes de pregrado. Conclusión. El presente estudio indica la relación negativa de la capacidad de resiliencia con el estrés y el uso de teléfonos móviles entre los estudiantes hindúes de enfermería. Por lo tanto, es necesario que las instituciones formadoras de enfermeros desarrollen estrategias de intervención para fortalecer la capacidad de resiliencia, mejorando las habilidades para manejar el estrés y el uso saludable del teléfono móvil.

Abstract Objective. The study sought to explore the relationship between levels of stress and resilience with the use of the mobile phone in nursing students. Methods. Cross-sectional study conducted with 102 nursing students from several Nursing schools in India who were invited to participate in the research. The data were gathered by using the following instruments: Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) by Cohen, The Connor-Davidson Resilience scale (CD-RISC), and Mobile Phone Involvement Questionnaire (MPIQ) by Walsh. Results. Most of the participants were women (94.1%), studying in the undergraduate (70.6%), with a mean age of 25.2 years. In all, 77.5% of the students had stress perception between moderate and high, 20.6% had high resilience capacity, and 25.5% were frequent mobile phone users. Perceived stress was correlated significantly and negatively with age and resilience capacity. Graduate students had greater capacity to recover than undergraduate students. Conclusion. This study indicates the negative relation of resilience capacity with stress and the use of mobile phones among nursing students. Hence, it is necessary for institutions preparing nurses to develop intervention strategies to enhance the resilience capacity, improve skills to manage stress, and healthy use of the mobile phone.

Resumo Objetivo. Explorar a relação entre os níveis de estresse e resiliência com o uso do telefone móbil em estudantes de enfermagem. Métodos. Estudo de corte transversal realizado com 102 estudantes de enfermagem de várias escolas de enfermagem na Índia que foram convidados a participar na investigação. Os dados se recopilaram utilizando os seguintes instrumentos: Percibed Stress Scale (PSS) de Cohen, The Connor-Davidson Resilience scale (CD-RISC) e Mobile Phone Involvement Questionnaire (MPIQ) de Walsh. Resultados. A maioria dos participantes eram mulheres (94.1%), estudavam graduação (70.6%)e tinham uma média de idade de 25.2 anos. 77.5% dos estudantes tinham uma percepção de estresse entre moderada e alta, 20.6% tinha alta capacidade de resiliência e 25.5% eram usuários frequentes de telefones móbeis. O estresse percebido se correlacionou significativamente e de maneira negativa com a idade e a capacidade de resiliência. Os estudantes de pós-graduação tiveram maior capacidade de recuperação que os estudantes de graduação. Conclusão. O presente estudo indica a relação negativa da capacidade de resiliência com o estresse e o uso de telefones móbeis entre os estudantes de enfermagem. Por tanto, é necessário que as instituições formadoras de enfermeiros desenvolvem estratégias de intervenção para fortalecer a capacidade de resiliência, melhorando as habilidades para manejar o estresse e o uso saudável do telefone móbil.
