Abstract: Heart disease is one of the deadly diseases. Timely detection of the disease can prevent mortality. In this paper, an intelligent system is proposed for the diagnosis of heart disease using clinical parameters at early stages. The system is developed using the regularized deep neural network model (Reg-DNN). Cleveland heart disease dataset has been used for training the model. Regularization has been achieved by using dropout and L2 regularization. Efficiency of Reg-DNN was evaluated by using hold-out validation method.70% data was used for training the model and 30% data was used for testing the model. Results indicate that Reg-DNN provided better performance than conventional DNN. Regularization has helped to overcome overfitting. Reg-DNN has achieved an accuracy of 94.79%. Results achieved are quite promising as compared to existing systems in the literature. Authors developed a system containing a graphical user interface. Hence, the system can be easily used by anyone to diagnose heart disease using clinical parameters.

Resumo O vírus da hepatite C (HCV) é o grave problema de saúde pública das doenças hepáticas. Aproximadamente 170 milhões de pessoas no mundo estão infectadas com HCV; no Paquistão, a doença tem alto índice de ocorrência. O presente estudo prevê uma prevalência atualizada do HCV e distribuição genotípica na população geral do distrito de Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Paquistão. As amostras de sangue de 6.538 indivíduos, incluindo 3.263 homens e 3.275 mulheres, foram analisadas para o antígeno de superfície da hepatite C por teste imunocromatográfico (ICT), ensaio imunoenzimático (ELISA) e reação em cadeia da polimerase de transcrição reversa (PCR). Verificou-se que 396 (12,13%) de 3.263 indivíduos continham anticorpos no sangue contra o HCV, enquanto entre as diferentes faixas etárias as maiores incidências de anticorpos anti-HCV foram encontradas na faixa etária de 31 a 40 anos (11,01%). As amostras positivas para ICT foram posteriormente rastreadas por nested PCR para determinar a existência de HCV-RNA ativo. Identificou-se que 7,11% (3.263) do total da população (6.538) testada foram positivos, dentre os quais 461 (14,07%) mulheres possuíam anticorpos no sangue contra o HCV. Nossos dados mostraram que a infecção total pelo HCV na população investigada foi de 5,78%. Maior porcentagem de prevalência de HCV foi detectada em homens do que em mulheres nas faixas etárias de 31-40 e 41-50. Para comparar a prevalência de genótipos de HCV com relação à idade no genótipo masculino e feminino 3a foi encontrado o genótipo mais prevalente seguido por 1a, 2a e 3b, respectivamente.

Abstract Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the serious global public health burden of liver disease. Approximately 170 million people in the world are infected with (HCV). In Pakistan, where the disease has high occurrence rate. The present study envisages an up-to-date prevalence of HCV and genotypic distribution in the general population of Mardan District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan. The blood samples from 6,538 individuals including 3,263 males and 3,275 females were analyzed for hepatitis C surface antigen by Immuno-chromatographic test (ICT), Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (PCR). It was found that 396 (12.13%) out of 3263 individuals contained antibodies in their blood against HCV, while among the different age groups, the highest incidences of HCV antibodies were found in the 31-40 age group (11.01%). The ICT positive samples were further screened by nested PCR to determine the existence of active HCV-RNA. It was identified that 7.11% (3263) of the total population (6538) tested was positive, among which the 461 (14.07%) females possessed antibodies in their blood against HCV. Our data showed total HCV infection in the investigated population was 5.78%. Higher percentage of HCV prevalence was detected in males than females in the age group 31-40 and 41-50. To compare the prevalence of HCV genotypes age-wise in male and female genotype 3a was found most prevalent genotype followed by 1a, 2a and 3b, respectively.

Abstract This research work focuses on the experimental investigation of indentation damage resistance and post-indented performance of different stacking sequence of glass/epoxy laminates using mechanical and acoustic responses. The laminates with stacking sequence, namely [0]12, [0/90]6S, [+45/-45]6S and [0/+45/-45/90]3S were subjected to normal and inclined indentation with acoustic emission monitoring. Quasi-static indentation (QSI) test was conducted on the center of the laminates using a hemispherical steel indenter with 12.7 mm diameter. The residual strength of the laminates was computed by conducting flexural after indentation test. Mechanical responses such as peak force, residual dent, linear stiffness and absorbed energy were employed to assess induced damages. The results reveal that the quasi-isotropic (QIS) laminates having better indentation damage resistance under 0o and 10o loading planes, whereas the angle-ply (AP) laminates performed well at 20o. Moreover, the normalised cumulative counts, energy rate, peak frequency, AE hits and sentry function were used to evaluate the damage initiation and propagation. Further, AE results show that the shear induced damage has been reduced in AP as compared with QIS laminates under 20o indentation plane. Finally, this study concluded that the QIS and AP laminates exhibited better indentation resistance under 0o and 10o, and 20o loading planes respectively.

ABSTRACT Objective: Sexual dysfunction among women with diabetes is a common but neglected health issue worldwide. The objective of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of sexual dysfunction and its associated factors among women with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Subjects and methods: This cross-sectional comparative study comprises 150 women with diabetes and 100 healthy women without diabetes who visited the endocrinology outpatient department of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH). The data were collected from July to December 2019. Sexual dysfunction was assessed by the 19-item Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI). Informed consent was obtained before participation. Collected data were analysed by SPSS 26. Results: More women with diabetes than control subjects reported sexual dysfunction (79% vs. 72%; p = 0.864). The global FSFI score was lower among the diabetes patients than among the healthy controls (20.8 ± 7.2 vs. 23.7 ± 4.8; p < 0.001). Patients with T2DM scored significantly lower in the domains of desire (p = 0.04), lubrication (p = 0.01), orgasm (p = 0.01), and satisfaction (p < 0.001), but not the domain of arousal (p = 0.09). A prolonged duration of diabetes was the primary contributor to orgasm problems (adjusted odds ratio, aOR 1.3, 95% CI 1.1-1.7) and painful intercourse (aOR 1.2, 95% CI 1.1-1.5). Conclusion: Sexual problems are frequent in women with diabetes. Inclusion of sexual health in comprehensive diabetes management is crucial to address this problem as well as to improve the quality of life of female diabetes patients.

Abstract Freshwater crabs of the family Potamidae Ortmann, 1896, have so far not been recorded in the state of Odisha in India. We report for the first time a potamid crab, Acanthopotamon martensi (Wood-Mason, 1875), from Odisha. With this record, in addition to the ‘Ganges Delta and Plain’ and the ‘Lower and Middle Indus’ freshwater ecoregions, A. martensi is now known to occur also in the ‘Northern Deccan Plateau’ ecoregion. The present record of A. martensi from Odisha represents the southernmost record of the family Potamidae in the Indian subcontinent. In fact, A. martensi is one of two potamid species that is known from south of the Ganges. Five species of freshwater crabs, including A. martensi, are now known from Odisha.

ABSTRACT Normally, flight delays and cancellations have significant impact on airlines operations and passenger’s satisfaction. Abstract Semiconductors with wide bandgaps play an important role in the use of optoelectronic and energy related devices due to their electron confinement, high optical transparency and tunable electrical conductivity. Therefore, in this study, the quantum confinement effect of chalcogenide semiconductor nanocrystals such as ZnS, ZnSe, ZnTe, SnS, SnSe and SnTe is studied using the Brus model (by effective mass approximation approach), the hyperbolic model and the cohesive energy model. The obtained results indicate that the value of the energy bandgap differs from the bulk crystals related to the quantum confinement effect. These verdicts confirm the quantum confinement effects of materials and their potential applications in optoelectronic devices. Theoretical findings are compared with the corresponding valid experimental data.

Abstract: Khasi is a Mon-Khmer language that belongs to the Austro-Asiatic language family. Khasi language is spoken by the indigenous people of the state Meghalaya in the North-Eastern part of India. The main purpose of this paper is to develop Part-of-Speech (PoS) tagger for the Khasi language using a Rule-based approach. To work on POS tagging, one needs a grammatically tagged corpus. However, the Khasi language does not have a standard corpus for PoS tagging. Therefore, another aim or purpose of this paper is to develop a Khasi lexicon or POS corpus and using the Rule-Based Brill’s Transformation to automatically tag the given Khasi text. While anticipating the challenges in building such a corpus, this paper has brought out an analysis based on the Khasi corpus of around 1,03,998 words in its initial phase. We also show in this paper how the Khasi corpus is created. By using Brill’s Transformation rule-based learning on the created corpus in this preliminary study, accuracies of 97.73% and 95.52% were obtained on validating data and testing data respectively. This work is the first attempt to investigate POS tagging using the rule-based model with the designed Khasi POS corpus.

RESUMEN En general, los programas de control de la hipertensión son costo-eficaces, incluso en los países de ingresos bajos y medios. Aun así, es poco probable que los gobiernos nacionales y la sociedad civil apoyen los programas de control de la hipertensión a menos que se demuestre su valor en términos de beneficios para la salud pública, impacto presupuestario y valor de la inversión para el contexto individual del país. La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS) implementaron la iniciativa HEARTS, un enfoque mundial estandarizado y simplificado para el control de la hipertensión, que incluye los medicamentos antihipertensivos y los dispositivos de medición de la presión arterial de preferencia. El objetivo de este estudio es informar sobre los estudios en el ámbito de la economía de la salud relativos al costo de las medidas de control de la hipertensión previstas en HEARTS (especialmente, de los medicamentos), la costo-efectividad y el impacto presupuestario, así como describir los modelos matemáticos diseñados para traducir los datos de este programa en un enfoque óptimo para la prestación y el financiamiento de los servicios de atención de la hipertensión, especialmente en países de ingresos medianos y bajos. Los primeros resultados indican que las intervenciones de HEARTS para el control de la hipertensión son de bajo costo o costo-eficaces, que el conjunto de medidas HEARTS es asequible, a un precio que oscila entre US$ 18 y US$ 44 al año por paciente tratado, y que los medicamentos antihipertensivos podrían tener un precio lo suficientemente bajo como para alcanzar un estándar medio mundial de <US$ 5 por paciente al año en el sector público. Estos datos del ámbito de la economía de la salud serán argumentos convincentes para que los gobiernos se involucren en los programas de control de la hipertensión a escala nacional y les brinden apoyo financiero.

RESUMO Geralmente, os programas de controle de hipertensão são custo-efetivos, inclusive em países de baixa e média renda, mas os governos dos países e a sociedade civil provavelmente não apoiarão tais programas a menos que demonstrem valor em termos de benefícios à saúde pública, impacto orçamentário e retorno sobre o investimento no contexto individual do país. A Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS) e a Organização Pan-Americana da Saúde (OPAS) criaram a Global HEARTS, uma abordagem padrão e simplificada ao controle da hipertensão arterial, que inclui medicamentos anti-hipertensivos preferidos e dispositivos para aferição da pressão arterial preferidos. O objetivo deste estudo é relatar os estudos de economia em saúde que analisaram o custo (especialmente custos de medicamentos), custo-benefício e impacto orçamentário do pacote HEARTS para controle da hipertensão e descrever modelos matemáticos elaborados para traduzir os dados do programa de controle de hipertensão em uma abordagem ideal para a prestação e financiamento de serviços de atenção às pessoas com hipertensão, especialmente em países de baixa e média renda. Os primeiros resultados sugerem que as intervenções HEARTS para controle da hipertensão são de baixo custo ou custo-efetivas, que o pacote HEARTS é acessível (custando de US$ 18 a 44 por pessoa tratada por ano) e que o preço dos medicamentos anti-hipertensivos poderia ser baixo o suficiente para atingir uma média global de <US$ 18 por paciente por ano no setor público. Estas evidências do campo da economia em saúde serão um argumento convincente para que os governos se responsabilizem por programas de controle de hipertensão em escala nacional e os dotem de recursos financeiros.

ABSTRACT Generally, hypertension control programs are cost-effective, including in low- and middle-income countries, but country governments and civil society are not likely to support hypertension control programs unless value is demonstrated in terms of public health benefits, budget impact, and value-for-investment for the individual country context. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) established a standard, simplified Global HEARTS approach to hypertension control, including preferred antihypertensive medicines and blood pressure measurement devices. The objective of this study is to report on health economic studies of HEARTS hypertension control package cost (especially medication costs), cost-effectiveness, and budget impact and describe mathematical models designed to translate hypertension control program data into the optimal approach to hypertension care service delivery and financing, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Early results suggest that HEARTS hypertension control interventions are either cost-saving or cost-effective, that the HEARTS package is affordable at between US$ 18-44 per person treated per year, and that antihypertensive medicines could be priced low enough to reach a global standard of an average <US$ 5 per patient per year in the public sector. This health economic evidence will make a compelling case for government ownership and financial support for national scale hypertension control programs.

Abstract A new species, Actinimenes koyas sp. nov. (Decapoda: Palaemonidae) was collected at a depth of 1.0-2.0 m from the coral atoll of Agatti Island, Lakshadweep, Arabian Sea. The species was associated with the sea anemone, Heteractis magnifica (Quoy and Gaimard, 1833). It is the second representative of the genus Actinimenes Ďuriš and Horká, 2017 described from the Arabian Sea. Actinimenes koyas sp. nov. is closely related to A. ornatellus in terms of morphological traits. Actinimenes koyas sp. nov. is distinguished from Actinimenes ornatellus (Bruce, 1979) by the presence of a biramous outer antennular flagellum with three proximal segments fused, a shorter free ramus consisting of 7 to 8 segments with 12-14 groups of aesthetascs, a fourth thoracic sternite with V-shaped median incision and features of the telson and third maxilliped. The present new species is easily distinguished from the other three described species in the genus Actinimenes by the structural variation in the fourth sternal plate with a median notch. Additionally, a phylogenetic analysis inferred by Maximum Likelihood using the mitochondrial genes COI and 16S rRNA shows a close relationship of Actinimenes koyas sp. nov. with Actinimenes inornatus (Kemp, 1922). Pairwise genetic distances estimated using the COI and 16S data provided divergences between A. koyas sp. nov. and other congeneric species.

Abstract Members of the fish parasitic isopod family Cymothoidae usually parasitize a host fish by a single species infestation. For the first time from Indian waters two species of cymothoids, the body surface infesting Anilocra grandmaae Aneesh, Hadfield, Smit and Kumar, 2021 and the branchial infesting Agarna malayi Tiwari, 1952, were reported simultaneously parasitizing the same individual toli shad, Tenualosa toli (Valenciennes, 1847). Each double-infested T. toli harboured an ovigerous female of A. grandmaae and an ovigerous female and male of A. malayi. Out of 814 host fishes collected from seven different localities, along the Kerala coast, southwest coast and Bay of Bengal coast, 113 fishes were infested with only A. malayi and 71 individuals were infested with only A. grandmaae. Interestingly, nine individuals of T. toli harboured both A. malayi and A. grandmaae simultaneously. Cymothoid co-occurrence is rarely reported, and this is the first report of two cymothoid species infesting a single fish host from India. Globally, it is the third record of simultaneous occurrence of two cymothoids and the first record of body surface and branchial cymothoids parasitising the same individual fish.

Resumo A infecção pelo vírus da hepatite B é perigosa entre os cinco tipos de hepatite, pois permanece clinicamente assintomática. O presente estudo traça a prevalência atualizada do vírus da hepatite B (HBV) na população geral de Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, no Paquistão. Amostras de sangue de 4.803 indivíduos, incluindo 2.399 homens e 2.404 mulheres, foram investigadas. Todas as amostras suspeitas foram analisadas para o antígeno de superfície da hepatite B usando teste imunocromatográfico (ICT), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), seguido por transcrição reversa-reação em cadeia da polimerase (RT-PCR). Os resultados mostraram que 312 (13,00%) de 2.399 indivíduos continham anticorpos no sangue contra o VHB, enquanto, entre as diferentes faixas etárias, as maiores incidências de anticorpos VHB foram encontradas nos grupos de 21 a 30 anos (10,73%). Além disso, amostras positivas para ICT foram rastreadas por reação em cadeia da polimerase aninhada para detectar a existência de HBV-DNA ativo. Observou-se que 169 (7,04%) de 2.399 homens do total da população (4803) testados foram positivos. Por outro lado, 463 mulheres (19,25%) possuíam anticorpos no sangue contra VHB. Acumulativamente, nossos resultados mostraram uma porcentagem maior de prevalência de HBV em homens do que em mulheres na faixa etária de 21 a 30 anos. O total de HCV infectados na população geral de Mardan foi registrado em 5,7%, incluindo homens e mulheres.

Abstract Hepatitis B virus infection is perilous among the five types of Hepatitis, as it remains clinically asymptomatic. The present study draws up-to-date prevalence of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) in the general population of Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan. The blood samples from 4803 individuals including 2399 male and 2404 females were investigated. All the suspected samples were analyzed for hepatitis B surface antigen using Immuno-chromatographic test (ICT), Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and followed by Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results showed that 312 (13.00%) out of 2399 individuals contained antibodies in their blood against HBV, while among the different age groups, the highest incidences of HBV antibodies were found in the age of 21-30 groups (10.73%). Furthermore, the ICT positive samples were screened by nested polymerase chain reaction to detect the existence of active HBV-DNA. It was observed that 169 (7.04%) out of (2399) male of the total population (4803) tested was positive. On the other hand, the female 463 (19.25%) possessed antibodies in their blood against HBV. Accumulatively, our results showed a higher percentage of HBV prevalence in males than females in the age group 21-30 years. The total HCV infected in Mardan general population was recorded at 5.7% comprising both male and female.

Abstract The present study describes chemical composition, phytochemicals, antifungal activities, antioxidant assays and total phenolic content of essential oil and varied polarity solvent extract from flowers of Alpinia malaccensis (Burm.f.). Total 27 components were identified in essential oil by GC-MS with terpinen-4-ol (28.6%) and α- terpineol (12.8%) as the main constituent. The essential oil was found to have maximal levels of phenolic content (64.60 μg/mL) as compared to the other extracts. The antioxidant assay evaluated in extracts and essential oil by different methods revealed good-to-moderate antioxidant potential with different IC50 values viz. (188.02 -250.25 μg/mL) in Fe3+ reducing power, (153.15-201.59 μg/mL) in Fe2+ metal-chelating ability, (130.39-181.12 μg/mL) in DPPH, (88.29-187.32 μg/mL) in OH radical, (79.04-156.79 μg/mL), in NO radical and (138.72-233.00 μg/mL) in superoxide anion scavenging activities, respectively. The methanolic extract display remarkable fungicidal activity against the tested pathogens followed by dichloromethane extract, essential oil, hexane extract and petroleum ether extract respectively, with MIC values ranging from 31.25 to 500 μg/mL. Based on results, it can be inferred that the flower of A. malaccensis if explored further for its medicinal properties, might be a good source to develop a safe and sustainable natural food preservative.

Resumen En este artículo, presentamos una función logarítmica de Mittag-Leffler y discutir algunas de sus propiedades. La aplicación de estas propiedades se vuelven útiles en la extensión de la integral de contorno de tipo de Pochhammer representaciones y fórmulas de Rodrigues de algunos conocidos hipergeométricos funciones. Desde el punto de vista de la aplicación, se discuten algunas relaciones que son útiles para interpretar el fenómeno de la propagación de infecciones enfermedades en términos de las múltiples funciones hipergeométricas de Lauricella.

Abstract In this paper, we introduce a logarithmic Mittag-Leffler function and discuss some of its properties. The application of these properties become helpful in extension of Pochhammer’s type contour integral representations and Rodrigues formulae of some known hypergeometric functions.
