Resumo Na perspectiva da Teoria Social da Aprendizagem (TSA) o processo de aprendizagem é compreendido como participação em comunidades sociais. À luz desse enfoque teórico, nesse artigo discutimos o papel das participações em diferentes comunidades sociais no processo de aprendizagem sobre a prática pedagógica com Modelagem Matemática de futuros professores de Matemática. Para tanto, exploramos o conceito de aprendizagem no âmbito da TSA, focando aspectos fundamentais para essa investigação, tais como os conceitos de comunidade social e de prática. A partir dessa discussão, articulamos esses pressupostos teóricos à aprendizagem sobre a prática pedagógica com Modelagem Matemática, recorrendo a descrições e análises de episódios de sala de aula e entrevistas desenvolvidas com estudantes de um quarto ano de Licenciatura em Matemática em uma universidade pública paranaense no ano letivo de 2015. As descrições são apresentadas de modo a relacionar a participação de duas licenciandas em comunidades sociais às aprendizagens das mesmas sobre a prática pedagógica com Modelagem Matemática. As reflexões decorrentes dessa investigação indicam a relevância da participação de futuros professores de Matemática em comunidades sociais cujas práticas aproximam comunidades escolares e aquelas constituídas no âmbito dos cursos de Licenciaturas para a decisão de incorporar a Modelagem Matemática às suas práticas pedagógicas.

Abstract From the perspective of Social Learning Systems, SLS, the learning process is understood as participation in social communities. In light of this theoretical approach, in this article we discuss the role of participation in different social communities in the learning process on the pedagogical practice with Mathematical Modelling of prospective Mathematics teachers. For this purpose, we explored the concept of learning within the SLS, focusing on key aspects for this research, such as the concepts of social community and community of practice. From this discussion, we articulated these theoretical assumptions to learning about pedagogical practice with Mathematical Modelling using descriptions and analysis of classroom episodes and interviews developed with fourth-year students of Mathematics Degree at a public university in Paraná in 2015. The descriptions are presented in order to relate the participation of two undergraduate students in social communities to their pedagogical learning practice with Mathematical Modelling. The reflections resulting from this research indicate the relevance of the participation of prospective Mathematics teachers in social communities, which practices bring school communities and those constituted within the Graduation courses the decision to incorporate the Mathematical Modelling into their pedagogical practices.

Resumo: Neste artigo, tecemos algumas reflexões acerca das compreensões dos estagiários quanto à inserção da Modelagem Matemática no Estágio Supervisionado. A interrogação que nos move: O que os estagiários que vivenciaram a inserção da Modelagem no Estágio compreendem sobre essa experiência? conduziu-nos ao desenvolvimento deste estudo qualitativo segundo a postura fenomenológico-hermenêutica, modo pelo qual emergiram as reflexões sobre essa inserção, na perspectiva dos estagiários. Reunimos depoimentos de estagiários que vivenciaram a experiência com a Modelagem no Estágio em uma universidade estadual paranaense e destacamos deles unidades de sentido, que, em um movimento de convergência, deram abertura a dois núcleos, os quais nos permitiram lançar as reflexões aqui empreendidas. Esse movimento nos mostrou que os estagiários reconhecem benefícios da Modelagem no contexto do Estágio como alternativa metodológica, caracterizando-se como uma configuração relevante para a formação inicial do professor. No entanto, destacaram obstáculos para poderem realizar o Estágio com Modelagem.

Abstract: In this article we present some reflections on the trainees’ understanding of Mathematical Modeling in their supervised teaching practice. The research question (What do trainees who have had this experience understand about the insertion of Modeling in the supervised practice?) has caused us to carry out this qualitative study according to the phenomenological-hermeneutic approach, through which reflections have emerged from the viewpoint of the trainees on this insertion. We collected testimonials by trainees who lived the experience with Modeling in the supervised practice in a state university of Paraná, Brazil. In those testimonials we highlight units of meaning that - in a movement of convergence - created two clusters that enabled us to formulate the reflections presented here. This movement showed us that trainees recognize the benefits of Modeling in the context of the supervised practice as a methodological alternative, characterizing a relevant configuration to initial teacher education; however, they highlight obstacles for them to be able to carry out the supervised practice with Modeling.

ResumoNeste artigo identificamos algumas potencialidades do ambiente de aprendizagem da Modelagem Matemática, na constituição de uma Comunidade de Prática Local (LCoP). O estudo foi desenvolvido no âmbito da pesquisa qualitativa, com base em um episódio de sala de aula, suscitado pela Modelagem Matemática, em que as ações desenvolvidas por professor e alunos, são analisadas segundo as características da constituição de uma LCoP. Os resultados obtidos evidenciam algumas características próprias do ambiente de aprendizagem da Modelagem Matemática, tais como o estudo matemático de um tema com referência na realidade; a participação dos alunos nos processos de problematização, investigação e seus envolvimentos no ambiente de aprendizagem e a construção de espaços de interações, que fundamentam o desenvolvimento de ações concernentes à constituição de LCoP's.

AbstractThis paper presents the potentialities of the learning environment of Mathematical Modeling in the constitution of a Local Community of Practice (LCoP). The study was developed in the context of qualitative research, based on a classroom episode, raised by Mathematical Modeling, in which the actions developed by teacher and students are analyzed according to the characteristics of the formation of an LCoP. The results show some typical characteristics of the learning environment of Mathematical Modeling, such as the mathematical study of a subject with reference in the reality; the performance of the students in the process of questioning, investigation and their engagement in the learning environment; and the construction of spaces for interactions, which underlie the development of actions concerning the constitution of LCoP.

A Modelagem Matemática é apontada por diversos autores como uma das tendências em Educação Matemática que pode contemplar a formação da cidadania por tratar, preferencialmente, de problemas advindos da realidade vivenciada pelos estudantes, propiciando a utilização de argumentos matemáticos para sua interpretação ou solução. A perspectiva sociocrítica da Modelagem é aquela que mais se identifica com esse propósito, contudo não tem sido explicitada nos trabalhos que relatam atividades de Modelagem com tais características. Embora diversos trabalhos apontem a presença das características gerais desta perspectiva, ela não costuma ser destacada como referência-chave no texto. Neste texto, propomos alguns elementos que caracterizam uma atividade de Modelagem Matemática, segundo a perspectiva sociocrítica, tomando por base alguns referenciais teóricos publicados no Brasil sobre este tema, e utilizamos esses elementos para analisar todos os relatos de experiência apresentados na VI Conferência Nacional sobre Modelagem em Educação Matemática segundo as características construídas.

Mathematical modeling has been pointed out by many authors as one of the trends in mathematics education that most addresses the formation of citizenship, because it usually deals with problems coming from the reality experienced by students, using mathematical arguments for their interpretation or solution. The socio-critical perspective of Modeling in mathematics is the one that is most identified with this purpose, however this has not been explored in the papers reporting modeling activities with such characteristics. Although many previous works indicate the presence of general characteristics of this perspective, it is not pointed out as the main reference of the text. In this work, some elements that characterize a Mathematical Modeling activity from the socio-critical perspective are proposed, taking as a starting point some major theoretical frameworks already published about this topic. These elements were used to analyze the experiences reported at the VI National Conference on Modeling in Mathematical Education.

This article proposes an experimental procedure to determine the enthalpy (and entropy) of vaporization of organic liquid compounds, by the Smith-Menzies (isoteniscope) method. The values of vapor pressure at different temperatures were obtained and ΔvH (and ΔvS) were graphically determined, using the Clausius-Clapeyron equation. The results for diethyl-ether, propanone, ethanol and n-hexane are in very good agreement with those from literature. A historical and thermodynamic discussion on equations that correlates vapor pressures and temperature precedes the experimental proposition.

Este artigo apresenta, como objetivo principal, uma proposta metodológica para o ensino do Cálculo nos cursos de Ciências Biológicas, que privilegia a atribuição de significados biológicos às variáveis e parâmetros que aparecem nos modelos matemáticos no estudo de dinâmica de populações. Utilizou-se, neste estudo, a equação logística como modelo matemático que caracteriza diversos tipos de crescimento populacional, além de apresentar outras complexidades do fenômeno biológico que podem ser melhor caracterizadas e explicadas por meio dos conceitos matemáticos relacionados ao Cálculo Diferencial. Entende-se que estas relações do Cálculo com as Ciências Biológicas contribuem para a compreensão de fenômenos biológicos complexos que podem ser explicados por equações matemáticas bastante simples.

A methodological proposal for the teaching of Calculus in Biology courses is suggested. It would highlight the attribution of biological meanings to variables and parameters in mathematical models within the study of population dynamics. Logistic equations have been used as a mathematical model that characterizes several types of population growth and other complexities of the biological phenomenon which may be better explained through mathematical concepts related to Differential Calculus. Relationship between Calculus and Biology may contribute towards the comprehension of complex biological phenomena that may be explained through simple mathematical equations.
