Resumo: Objetivo Foi avaliado o incremento da decomposição da matéria orgânica em amostras de sedimento de viveiros de criação de tilápias-do-Nilo com a introdução das bactérias Bacillus subtilis e B. licheniformis. Métodos Amostras de sedimento colocadas em caixas plásticas de 18L, receberam dose única de inóculos com as seguintes concentrações: 1,21 x 106 UFC g-1 (equivalente a 75 g ha-1), 2,41x 106 UFC g-1 (equivalente a 150 g ha-1), 4,82 x 106 UFC g-1 (equivalente a 300 g ha-1) e 1,61x 107 UFC g-1 (equivalente a 1000 g ha-1), além de um tratamento controle, com adição apenas de solução salina. Foram analisados teor de matéria orgânica, teores de carbono orgânico total (COT) e oxidável (COO), nitrogênio total (NT), relações de carbono: nitrogênio (COT:N e COO:N), teor de argila, pH em água, índce Shoemaker, McLean, Pratt (índice SMP), teores de fósforo (P), de potássio (K), de cálcio (Ca) e de magnésio (Mg), acidez potencial (H+Al), capacidade de troca catiônica (CTC) a pH 7,0 e saturação por bases (V). Resultados Os valores de MO apresentaram diferença significativa entre os menores valores (tratamentos 75, 150 e 300 g ha-1) e o maior valor (tratamento controle). COT, COO, NT e suas relações (COT:N e COO:N) apresentaram diferenças significativas entre os valores médios do tratamento controle e os demais tratamentos. Conclusões A adição das bactérias Bacillus subtilis e B. licheniformis incrementou a taxa de decomposição de matéria orgânica em amostras de sedimento de viveiro de criação de tilápias-do-Nilo.

Abstract: Aim The increment of decomposition of organic matter in sediment samples from Nile tilapia farms was evaluated with the introduction of Bacillus subtilis and B. licheniformis bacteria. Methods Sediment samples placed in 18L plastic boxes received single dose inoculum with the following concentrations: 1.21 x 106 CFU g-1 (equivalent to 75 g ha-1), 2.41 x 106 CFU g-1 (equivalent to 150 g ha-1), 4.82 x 106 CFU g-1 (equivalent to 300 g ha-1) and 1.61 x 107 CFU g-1 (equivalent to 1000 g ha-1), in addition to a control treatment with saline solution only. Organic matter content, total organic carbon (TOC) and oxidizable (OOC), total nitrogen (TN), ratios (TOC: N and OOC: N), clay content, pH in water, Shoemaker, McLean, Pratt index (SMP Index), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) contents, potential acidity (H + Al), cation exchange capacity (CEC) at pH 7.0, base saturation (V) and sum of bases (S). Results The values of OM showed significant difference, between the lowest values (treatments 75, 150 and 300 g ha-1) and the highest value, (control treatment). TOC, OOC, NT and their relationships (TOC: N and OOC: N) showed significant differences between the mean values of the control treatment and the other treatments. Conclusions The addition of Bacillus subtilis and B. licheniformis bacteria increased the decomposition rate of organic matter in sediments samples from Nile tilapia farms.

ABSTRACT The Brazilian municipality of Rondonópolis, Mato Grosso State, represents an important visceral leishmaniasis (VL) endemic area. This study described epidemiological and clinical aspects of the occurrence, VL/HIV coinfection and lethality related to VL in Rondonópolis. Data from autochthonous cases reported between 2011 and 2016 were obtained from official information systems. During this period, 81 autochthonous cases were reported, with decreasing incidence through 2016. Contrastingly, the lethality rate was 8.6% overall, but varied widely, reaching a peak (20%) in 2016. Almost 10% of patients had VL/HIVcoinfection. The occurrence of VL prevailed among men (56.8%), brown-skinned (49.4%), urban residents (92.6%), aged 0-4 years (33.3%). Housewives or retired (29.6%) were the most affected occupational groups. Lower age was the main difference among the total VL cases and those who were coinfected or died. Clinically, fever, weakness and splenomegaly were more frequent among all VL cases and VL/HIV coinfected individuals. Bacterial infections (p=0.001) and bleeding (p<0.001) were associated with death due to VL. Pentavalent antimonial and liposomal amphotericin B were the first choices for treatment among all VL cases (71.6%) and those who died (71.4%), respectively. VL/HIV patients were equally treated with both drugs. These findings may support control measures and demonstrate the need for further investigations.

RESUMO: A dieta suplementada com a bactéria probiótica Weissella cibaria sobre a eficácia da imunização de surubim híbrido contra a septicemia hemorrágica específica, causada por Aeromonas hydrophila, foi avaliada nos seguintes tratamentos: peixes alimentados com a dieta suplementada com probiótico, peixes vacinados, peixe vacinadas que receberam um probiótico na dieta e peixes não tratados (controle). Peixes dos tratamentos probióticos foram alimentados com uma dieta contendo W. cibaria por 41 dias. No 15o dia do experimento, os peixes dos tratamentos de vacinas foram vacinados intraperitonealmente, com posterior reforço oral por quatro dias. Uma semana após o reforço oral, três peixes de cada unidade experimental foram amostrados. A suplementação de probiótico aumentou o número de trombócitos e concentração lisozima em comparação com surubins que não receberam W. cibaria na dieta. Por outro lado, a vacinação influenciou no aumento do título de aglutinação, a concentração de lisozima e a atividade antimicrobiana, em comparação com os surubins que não foram vacinados. No entanto, não houve interação entre a dieta com probióticos e vacinação no híbrido surubim nos parâmetros analisados.

ABSTRACT: A supplementary diet with the probiotic bacteria Weissella cibaria on the efficacy of surubim hybrid immunization against a specific hemorrhagic septicemia caused by Aeromonas hydrophila was evaluated on the following treatments: fish fed a supplemented probiotic diet, vaccinated fish and vaccinated fish fed a supplemented probiotic diet, and untreated fish (control). Fish from the probiotic treatments were fed a diet containing W. cibaria for 41 days. On the 15th day of the experiment, fish from vaccine treatments were intraperitoneally vaccinated, with posterior oral booster for four days. One week after the oral booster, three fish from each experimental unit were sampled. The probiotic supplementation increased the number of thrombocytes and lysozyme concentration compared with surubim that did not receive W. cibaria in the diet. On the other hand, the vaccination increased agglutination titer, lysozyme concentration, and antimicrobial activity compared with surubim that were not vaccinated. However, there was no interaction between diet with probiotics and vaccination in the surubim hybrid in the analysed parameters.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o uso de suplemento prebiótico, probiótico e simbiótico, na dieta de camarões marinhos (Litopenaeus vannamei) e seus efeitos sobre o crescimento, a microbiota intestinal, a resposta imune e a resistência ao desafio experimental com Vibrio alginolyticus. Foram utilizados quatro tratamentos: prebiótico inulina; probiótico Lactobacillus plantarum; simbiótico Lactobacillus plantarum + inulina; e controle. Os camarões foram distribuídos em 16 tanques de dez mil litros de água, povoados com 200 camarões cada, cultivados por seis semanas. Avaliaram-se a microbiologia do trato intestinal dos camarões e a reposta imune, antes e após o desafio com V. alginolyticus. A concentração de Vibrio spp. no trato digestório foi menor em camarões alimentados com dieta suplementada com prebiótico, probiótico e simbiótico, enquanto a concentração de bactérias acidoláticas foi superior somente nos camarões alimentados com probiótico e simbiótico. O título aglutinante do soro contra V. alginolyticus aumentou no grupo probiótico e simbiótico, antes da infecção, e foi maior em todos os tratamentos após infecção com V. alginolyticus, em comparação ao controle. Não foi observada diferença entre os tratamentos quanto aos demais parâmetros avaliados. As dietas probióticas, prebióticas e simbióticas alteram a microbiota intestinal e aumentam o título aglutinante do soro contra V. alginolyticus; contudo, não alteram a resistência ao desafio nem o crescimento dos camarões.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the use of prebiotic, probiotic, and symbiotic supplements, in the diet of shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), and their effects on growth, intestinal microbiota, immune response, and resistance to experimental challenge with Vibrio alginolyticus. Four treatments were used: prebiotic (inulin); probiotic (Lactobacillus plantarum); symbiotic (Lactobacillus plantarum + inulin); and a control. Shrimp were distributed in 16 tanks with ten thousand liters of water, stocked with 200 shrimp each, cultivated for six weeks. Microbiology of the intestinal tract and the immune response of shrimp were evaluated before and after the challenge with V. alginolyticus. The concentration of Vibrio spp. in the digestive tract was lower in shrimp fed prebiotic, probiotic, and symbiotic-supplemented diet, while concentration of lactic acid bacteria was higher only in shrimp fed probiotic and symbiotic-supplemented diet. The title of agglutinating serum against V. alginolyticus increased in shrimp fed the probiotic and symbiotic-supplemented diet prior to infection, and was higher in all treatments after infection with V. alginolyticus, in comparison to the control. No difference was observed between treatments for the remaining parameters. Probiotic, prebiotic, and symbiotic diets change intestinal microbiota, and increase the agglutinating serum title against V. alginolyticus; however, they change neither the shrimp resistance to challenge by V. alginolyticus nor shrimp growth.
