Summary Changes in the land use of a basin area affects the infiltration and surface water runoff directly, altering the balance of the hydrological cycle. Therefore, estimating parameters of water infiltration and runoff for each type of land use and vegetation (USV) is fundamental to differentiate the impact caused by a change of land use over the hydrical balance of a given area. The objective of this study was to estimate cumulative infiltration (F), basic infiltration rate (Ti), constant infiltration rate (fc) and infiltration decay coefficient (k); as well as infiltration and runoff coefficients in mountainous cloud forest (BMM), (SMSPC), pine-oak forest (BPQ), oak forest (BQ), induced grassland (PI), pine forest (BP), agricultural land in use (TC) and fallowed agricultural land (TCD). Thirty-eight simulated rain experiments were carried out at an average intensity of 100 mm h-1 with a hand-portable single nozzle rainfall simulator. The exponential model was employed to estimate fc and k and the Horton semi-empirical model to estimate Ti and F. The analysis of variance was performed by the generalized linear model (GML) to evaluate the effects of USV and texture type, and the analysis of covariance was employed to determine the effects of slope, mulch depth, organic matter % of total variability content, sand, mud and clay content, and bulk density. The exponential model fitted more than 80% of total variability (R2) at all USV. Agricultural land in use and TCD showed the lowest F and Ti and the highest k (P < 0.001), BMM exhibited the highest infiltration capacity (F) and lowest decay rate (k). The bulk density of the soil, and content of mud and organic matter were the variables positively associated to infiltration (P < 0.01).
Resumen El cambio de uso de suelo en el territorio de una cuenca, afecta directamente la infiltración y escurrimiento superficial de agua, alterando el balance del ciclo hidrológico. Por lo que estimar parámetros de infiltración y escurrimiento por tipo de uso de suelo y vegetación (USV), es fundamental para diferenciar el impacto que ejerce el cambio de uso del suelo, sobre el balance hídrico de la misma. El objetivo de este estudio fue estimar la infiltración acumulada (F), tasa de infiltración básica (Ti), tasa de infiltración constante (fc) y coeficiente de decaimiento (k); así como los coeficientes de infiltración y escurrimiento en suelos del bosque mesófilo de montaña (BMM), selva mediana subperennifolia asociada con café bajo sombra (SMSPC), bosque de pino encino (BPQ), bosque de encino (BQ), pastizal inducido (PI), bosque de pino (BP), tierra de cultivo en uso (TC) y tierra de cultivo en descanso (TCD). Se realizaron 38 experimentos de lluvia simulada con intensidad media de 100 mm h-1 con un simulador tipo mono vertedor trípode. Se utilizó el modelo exponencial para estimar fc y k, y el modelo semi empírico de Horton para estimar Ti y F. El análisis de varianza se realizó con el modelo lineal general (GML) para los efectos de USV y clase textural, análisis de covarianza para estudiar los efectos de pendiente del suelo, profundidad de mantillo, contenido de materia orgánica; contenido de arena, limo y arcilla y densidad aparente. El modelo exponencial ajustó más del 80% de la variabilidad total (R2) en todos los USV. Las TC y TCD mostraron la menor F y Ti, con el mayor k (P < 0.001), el BMM mostró la mayor capacidad de infiltración (F) y menores tasas de decaimiento (k). Las variables asociadas positivamente con la infiltración (P < 0.01) fueron la densidad aparente del suelo, contenido de limo y materia orgánica.
