Resumen La relación entre entrenador y atleta ha sido identificada como un factor determinante para varios resultados positivos en el contexto deportivo. Por lo tanto, los objetivos del estudio fueron analizar la asociación entre la calidad de la relación en trenador-atleta (CAR) y la percepción de la cohesión del equipo de los atletas jóvenes. Participaron 301 atletas, de 15 a 17 años, que compitieron en los Juegos Escolares de Pernambuco, Brasil. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron el Cuestionario de Relación Entrenador-Atleta (CART-Q) y el Cuestionario de Ambiente Grupal (GEQ). El análisis de los datos se realizó a través del modelado de ecuaciones estructurales (p <.05). Los resultados mostraron que la calidad de la CAR mostró una asociación significativa (p <.05) con la cohesión del equipo, explicando el 25% de la varianza de la cohesión de la tarea y el 15% de la cohesión social. Específicamente, el efecto de CAR en la cohesión de tareas (β = 0.50) y social (β = 0.39) fue significativo (p <.05) y positivo. Se concluyó que la calidad de CAR es un factor clave para el compromiso del adolescente con el trabajo en equipo y las metas de este, así como para el desarrollo de relaciones interpersonales positivas.

Abstract The relationship between coach and athlete has been identified as a key factor for several positive outcomes in the sports context. Thus, the aims of this study were to analyze the association between the quality of the coach-athlete relation ship (CAR) and the perception of team cohesion of youth athletes. Participants were 301 athletes, aged 15 to 17 years, who participated in the School Games of Pernambuco, Brazil. The instruments used were the Coach-Athlete Relationship Questionnaire (CART-Q) and the Group Environment Questionnaire (GEQ). Data analysis was conducted through the Structural Equation Modeling (p< .05). The results showed that the quality of CAR showed a significant association (p<.05) with team cohesion, explaining 25% of the variance of task cohesion and 15% of social cohesion. Specifically, the effect of CAR on task (β = 0.50) and social (β = 0.39) cohesion was significant (p<.05) and positive. It was concluded that the quality of CAR is a key factor for the engagement of the adolescent with the teamwork and its goals as well as for the de velopment of positive interpersonal relationships.

Abstract Aims: This study investigated the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ). Methods: Participants were five hundred and nineteen young and adult athletes who responded to the ABQ and Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2R. Data analysis was conducted through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Cronbach’s alpha, Composite reliability, average variance extracted, multigroup analysis, and Pearson’s correlation (p<0.05). Results: The results of the CFA confirmed the structure with three dimensions (Physical and emotional exhaustion (PEE), reduced sense of sports accomplishment (RSSA), and sports devaluation (SD) [χ²/gl=2.92; CFI=.92; TLI=.91; RMSEA=.06]. Internal consistency was satisfactory (>.70). External validity revealed a positive correlation between PEE (r=.14) and RSSA (r=.23) with somatic anxiety and a positive correlation of PEE (r=.15), RSSA (r=.30), and SD (r=.14) with cognitive anxiety. Further, all dimensions of burnout had negative correlations with the self-confidence (r=.17-.23). In the factor invariance analysis, satisfactory data were found in the model’s fit, establishing good factor loadings, variance/covariance, and residuals in both age groups (up to 18 years and over 18 years) and genders (men and women). Conclusion: It was concluded that the Brazilian version of the ABQ is satisfactory for the application of possible studies involving burnout syndrome in the Brazilian sports context in different group extracts.

RESUMO Este estudo transversal analisou o papel da resiliência sobre a motivação de paratletas de atletismo e natação. Os sujeitos foram 64 atletas do sexo masculino (n = 41) e feminino (n = 23) das regiões Norte e Nordeste do Brasil. Os atletas eran das modalidades de atletismo (69,5%) e natação (30,5%), com idade média de 28,42 ± 11,32 anos. Os instrumentos foram a Escala de Motivação Esportiva II e a Escala de Resiliência Connor-Davidson. A análise dos dados foi realizada por meio de Kolmogorov-Smirnov, correlação de Spearman e a Path Analysis (p <0,05). Os resultados mostraram que a resiliência apresentou correlação significativa (p <0,05) com todas as regulações de motivação autônoma e controlada: externa (r = 0,29), introjetada (r = 0,40), identificada (r = 0, 29), integrada (r = 0,26 ) e intrínseca (r = 0,42). Path Analysis revelou que a resiliência apresentou efeito significativo (p < 0,05) sobre as regulações intrínseca, introjetada e externa, explicando 16%, 11% e 11% da variância das variáveis, respectivamente. Destaca-se que que o efeito foi moderado e positivo sobre as regulações intrínseca (β = 0,40), introjetada (β = 0,33) e externa (β = 0,33). Concluiu-se que, no contexto do atletismo e da natação paralímpica, a resiliência parece ser um fator interveniente na motivação autônoma e controladaa.

ABSTRACT This cross-secctional study investigated the role of resilience on motivation among athletics and swimming parathletes. The subjects were 64 male (n=41) and female (n=23) parathletes from North and Northeast regions of Brazil. The parathletes were practitioners of athletics (69.5%) and swimming (30.5%), with mean age of 28.42±11.32 years. The instruments were the Sport Motivation Scale-II and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. Data analysis was conducted thorugh Kolmogorov Smirnov, Spearman correlation and Path Analysis (p<0.05). The results showed that resilience showed significant correlation (p<0.05) with all controlled and autonomous regulations: external (r=0.29), introjected (r=0.40), identified (r=0.29), integrated (r=0.26) and intrinsic (r=0.42). Path Analysis revealed that that resilience showed a significant (p 0.05) and effect on intrinsic, introjected and external regulations, explaining 16%, 11% and 11% of the variance of the variables, respectively. It should be noted that resilience had a moderate and positive effect on intrinsic (β=0.40), introjected (β=0.33) and external (β=0.33) regulations. It was concluded that in the context of the paralympic athletics and swimming, resilience seems to be an intervening factor on both autonomous and controlled motivation.

RESUMO Este estudo investigou a aptidão física de idosos com Hipertensão Arterial Sistêmica (HAS) usuários das academias da terceira idade (ATI) do município de Maringá-PR. Foram inclusos 79 idosos de ambos os sexos, usuários de 13 ATI localizadas no município de Maringá-PR, com diagnóstico de HAS. Para identificação do perfil sociodemográfico e de saúde foi utilizado um questionário semiestruturado. Foi aferida a pressão arterial em repouso e o Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC). Para avaliar a força muscular foram utilizados os testes de flexão de cotovelo e o levantar e sentar na cadeira. O nível de atividade física dos idosos foi avaliado pelo Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física (IPAQ). Os achados demonstraram idosos ativos/muito ativos, com pressão arterial controlada, baixo índice de comportamento sedentário e alta força de membros superiores, porém com IMC representando sobrepeso e baixa força de membros inferiores. Em função do sexo, os homens apresentaram maior valor de massa corporal (p = 0,020), porém outros fatores relacionados à aptidão física não demonstraram diferença estatisticamente significativa entre os idosos do sexo masculino e feminino. Concluiu-se que os idosos com HAS frequentadores das ATIs, ambos os sexos, apresentam excelentes níveis de atividade física, associados a boas condutas de saúde, baixos índices de comportamento sedentário e pressão arterial controlada.

ABSTRACT This study investigated the physical fitness of elderly individuals with Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) who use third-age gyms (TAGs) in the municipality of Maringá, Paraná, Brazil. It included 79 senior citizens, of both sexes, users of 13 TAGs located in the city and diagnosed with SAH. For identification of their sociodemographic and health profile, a semi-structured questionnaire was used. Resting blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI) were measured. Muscle strength was assessed through elbow flexion and sit-to-stand tests. The participants' physical fitness level was assessed by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). The findings reveal active/very active seniors, with controlled blood pressure, low index of sedentary behavior and high upper limb strength, but with BMI representing overweight, and low lower limb strength. When it comes to sex, men presented greater values for body mass (p = 0.020), but other factors related to physical fitness showed no statistically significant difference between elderly males and females. It is possible to conclude that the senior TAG goers with SAH, both men and women, presented excellent physical activity levels, associated with good health behaviors, low indexes of sedentary behavior, and controlled blood pressure.

Resumo O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a percepção da qualidade de vida (QV) dos atletas paralímpicos das modalidades de atletismo e natação. Tratou-se de um estudo descritivo e de corte transversal com 32 paratletas, sendo 22 de atletismo e 10 de natação. Para avaliação da QV foi utilizado o questionário de avaliação abreviado da qualidade de vida da Organização Mundial da Saúde. Para análise dos dados foi utilizado o teste de Shapiro-Wilk; como os dados apresentaram distribuição não paramétrica, foi adotada a apresentação descritiva em mediana (Md) e intervalo interquartílico (Q1; Q3). Para comparar a QV em função do gênero e do patrocínio, foi utilizado o teste de “U” de Mann-Whitney, e para comparar a QV entre o nível de escolaridade, foi utilizado o teste de Kruskal-Wallis. Observou-se entre os domínios de QV que o domínio meio ambiente obteve o menor índice e o domínio social obteve o maior índice entre os paratletas pesquisados. Em relação aos subgrupos mais prejudicados os menores valores encontrados foram entre os paratletas com níveis de escolaridades fundamental I e nível superior, que apresentaram diferenças nos domínios ambientais e de QV geral, fundamental I com ensino médio, apenas na QV geral e fundamental II com ensino superior, apenas no domínio ambiental. Não foram constatadas diferenças significativas na percepção da QV entre os paratletas com e sem patrocínio, e entre as modalidades atletismo e natação. Conclui-se que os atletas paralímpicos que possuem menor nível de escolaridade apresentaram-se como os grupos com menores percepções de QV.

Abstract The objective of the present study was to evaluate the perception of the quality of life (QoL) of Paralympic athletes of athletics and swimming. It was a descriptive and cross-sectional study with 32 Paralympic athlete. To evaluate the QoL, the questionnaire of abbreviated quality of life evaluation of the World Health Organization was used. For the analysis of the data the Shapiro-Wilk test was used; because the data presented non-parametric distribution, the descriptive presentation was adopted in median (Md) and interquartile range (Q1; Q3). To compare QoL according to gender and sponsorship, the Mann-Whitney “U” test was used, and the Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare the QoL between the level of schooling. There was a lower perception of QoL in the environmental domain and a greater perception in the social domain among the parathletes surveyed. In relation to the most impaired subgroups, the lowest values were found among paratrans with primary and higher levels of schooling presented differences in environmental domains and general QoL, fundamental I with secondary education, only in general and fundamental QoL II with higher education, only in the environmental domain. There were no significant differences in the perception of QoL between Paralympic athlete with and without sponsorship, and between athletics and swimming modalities. It is concluded that Paralympic athletes who have lower level of schooling presented themselves as the groups with lower perceptions of QoL.

ABSTRACT This cross-sectional study aimed to examine the association between sporting experiences and the perception of team cohesion according to sex among youth Brazilian recreational athletes. Participants were 253 youth athletes with age average of 12.97 ± 0.98 years. Athletes represented the following sports: Indoor soccer (n=20); basketball (n=62); handball (n=123) and; volleyball (n=48). The instruments used were the Youth Experience Survey for Sport (P-YES-S) and the Youth Sport Environment Questionnaire (P-YSEQ). Independent sample t-test revealed significant difference between sexes in the dimensions of Personal Skills (p=0.02) (d= 0,31) and Task Cohesion (p=0.02) (d= 0,34). The following significant correlations were found for girls: Task Cohesion with Personal Skills (r=0.48), Initiative Experiences (r=0.37); and Social Cohesion with Personal Skills (r=0.41), Cognitive Skills (r=0.43) and Initiative Experiences (r=0.32). For boys, it was found the following correlations: Task Cohesion with Personal Skills (r=0.19), Initiative Experiences (r=0.42) and Negative Experiences (r=-0.22); and Social cohesion with Personal Skills (r=0.18) and Initiative Experiences (r=0.30). Multiple regression analysis indicated that sports experiences are significant predictors of task (R2=0.21; F=17.838; p<0.01) and social cohesion (R2=0.10; F=7.440; p<0.01). It can be concluded that positive sporting experiences may predict social and task cohesion among youth athletes.

RESUMO Este estudo transversal teve como objetivo analisar a associação entre experiências esportivas e a percepção da coesão da equipe por sexo entre jovens atletas recreativos brasileiros. Os participantes foram 253 jovens atletas com média de idade de 12,97 ± 0,98 anos. Os atletas representaram os seguintes esportes: futebol de salão (n = 20); basquetebol (n = 62); handebol (n = 123) e; vôlei (n = 48). Os instrumentos utilizados foram o Youth Experience Survey for Sport (P-YES-S) e o Youth Sport Environment Questionnaire (P-YSEQ). O teste t para amostras independentes revelou diferença significativa entre os sexos nas dimensões de Habilidades Pessoais (p = 0,02) (d=0,31) e Coesão da Tarefa (p = 0,02) (d= 0,34). As seguintes correlações significativas foram encontradas para as meninas: Coesão da Tarefa com Habilidades Pessoais (r = 0,48), Iniciativa Experiências (r = 0,37); e Coesão Social com Competências Pessoais (r = 0,41), Competências Cognitivas (r = 0,43) e Iniciativa Experiências (r = 0,32). Para os meninos, foram encontradas as seguintes correlações: Coesão da Tarefa com Habilidades Pessoais (r = 0,19), Experiências Iniciais (r = 0,42) e Experiências Negativas (r = -0,22); e coesão social com habilidades pessoais (r = 0,18) e experiências de iniciativa (r = 0,30). A análise de regressão múltipla indicou que as experiências esportivas são preditores significativos da tarefa (R2 = 0,21; F = 17,838; p <0,01) e coesão social (R2 = 0,10; F = 7,440; p <0,01). Pode-se concluir que experiências esportivas positivas podem predizer a coesão social e de tarefas entre atletas jovens.

RESUMEN Este estudio transversal tuvo como objetivo examinar la asociación entre las experiencias deportivas y la percepción de cohesión del equipo según el sexo entre los jóvenes atletas recreativos brasileños. Los participantes fueron 253 atletas jóvenes con una edad promedio de 12.97 ± 0.98 años. Los atletas representaron los siguientes deportes: fútbol sala (n = 20); baloncesto (n = 62); balonmano (n = 123) y; Voleibol (n = 48). Los instrumentos utilizados fueron la Encuesta de Experiencia Juvenil para el Deporte (P-YES-S) y el Cuestionario sobre el Ambiente del Deporte Juvenil (P-YSEQ). La prueba t de muestra independiente reveló una diferencia significativa entre los sexos en las dimensiones de las habilidades personales (p = 0.02) (d= 0,31) y la cohesión de tareas (p = 0.02) (d= 0,34). Se encontraron las siguientes correlaciones significativas para las niñas: cohesión de tareas con habilidades personales (r = 0,48), experiencias de iniciativa (r = 0,37); y cohesión social con habilidades personales (r = 0,41), habilidades cognitivas (r = 0,43) y experiencias de iniciativa (r = 0,32). Para los niños, se encontraron las siguientes correlaciones: Cohesión de la tarea con habilidades personales (r = 0.19), Experiencias de la iniciativa (r = 0.42) y Experiencias negativas (r = -0.22); y Cohesión social con habilidades personales (r = 0.18) y experiencias de iniciativa (r = 0.30). El análisis de regresión múltiple indicó que las experiencias deportivas son factores predictivos significativos de la tarea (R2 = 0.21; F = 17.838; p <0.01) y la cohesión social (R2 = 0.10; F = 7.440; p <0.01). Se puede concluir que las experiencias deportivas positivas pueden predecir la cohesión social y de tareas entre los atletas jóvenes.

Resumo Este estudo investigou a associação entre a satisfação das necessidades psicológicas básicas, da teoria da autodeterminação, e a percepção de coesão de grupo em atletas de futsal do sexo masculino. Participaram 301 atletas das 20 equipes participantes da Liga Nacional de Futsal. Como instrumentos foram utilizados a Escala de Necessidades Básicas no Esporte (BNSSS) e o Questionário de Ambiente de Grupo (GEQ). A análise dos dados foi conduzida por meio da Modelagem de Equações Estruturais. Os resultados revelaram que a satisfação das necessidades psicológicas básicas apresentou associação significativa com a coesão de grupo, explicando em 28% a variância da Coesão para Tarefa e 63% da Coesão Social. A satisfação das três BPN está associada a Coesão para a Tarefa, enquanto que apenas a satisfação das necessidades psicológicas básicas de Relação e Competência se associou com a Coesão Social. Concluiu-se que, no contexto do futsal de alto rendimento, a satisfação do atleta em relação às suas necessidades psicológicas básicas está associada ao envolvimento com as metas da equipe e à probabilidade de desenvolver amizades dentro do grupo.

Abstract This study aims to investigate the association between satisfaction of basic psychological needs of the self-determination theory, and perception of group cohesion among male futsal athletes. In total, 301 athletes from 20 teams, participants of the Brazilian Futsal League participated in this study. The instruments used were the Basic Needs Satisfaction in Sport Scale (BNSSS) and the Group Environment Questionnaire (GEQ). Data analysis was conducted through the Structural Equation Modeling. Results revealed that the satisfaction of basic psychological needs presented significant association with group cohesion, explaining 28% of Task Cohesion and 63% of Social Cohesion variances. The satisfaction of the three basic psychological needs is associated with Task Cohesion, while only the satisfaction of basic psychological needs of Relatedness and Competence was associated with Social Cohesion. It was concluded that, in the context of high-performance futsal, the satisfaction of athletes with their basic psychological needs is associated with involvement with team goals and the likelihood of making friends within the group.
