Introdução: O ensino em cirurgia deve acompanhar a evolução das técnicas, procedimentos e tecnologia. Desde a década de 90 a videocirurgia vem se desenvolvendo e hoje é a primeira escolha para muitos procedimentos em cirugia geral. Com características diferentes da cirurgia convencional, os residentes treinaram em simuladores para adaptação. A literatura médica mundial já apresenta programas consagrados para treinamento entre eles os Fundamentos da Cirurgia Laparoscópica (FLS). A avaliação das habilidades técnicas cirúrgicas é uma ferramenta importante em programas de residência médica. Objetivo: Avaliar o impacto do treinamento através de aquisição de habilidades dos médicos residentes em cirurgia geral antes e após treinamento teórico-prático em videocirurgia utilizando um simulador de baixa fidelidade baseado em exercícios do FLS. Método: Estudar de modo prospectivo a aquisição de habilidades de médicos residentes em cirurgia geral de primeiro e segundo ano (R1 e R2), antes e após realização de treinamento teórico-prático pré-definido. Conclusão: Houve melhora significativa com o treinamento atingindo níveis de conhecimento e aprimoramento semelhantes aos trabalhos da literatura mundial. A melhoria no desempenho dos residentes foi evidente em ambos os grupos da amostra. Aqueles do primeiro ano atingiram a concentração de conhecimento após o treinamento semelhante ao desempenho dos residentes de segundo ano na avaliação inicial, destacando que o treinamento sequenciado realizado equivale a um ano de prática no programa de residência geral de cirurgia

Introduction: Teaching in surgery must follow the evolution of medical techniques, procedures and technology. Since the 90s videosurgery has been developing and nowadays is the gold standard for many procedures in general surgery. As there are different characteristics from conventional surgery, residents need to practice in order to adapt to simulators. The world medical literature has established many training programs among them the Fundaments of laparoscopic Surgery (FLS). Evaluation of surgical technical abilities is a major tool for the residency programs. Objectives: To assess the effect of training acquiring skills of residents at first and second postgraduated level year (PGY1 and PGY2) before and after practice using low fidelity simulator based on tasks from FLS. Methods: A prospective study was conducted to determinate skills acquisition of residents at first and second postgraduated level year l (PGY1 and PGY2) before and after standardized practice using low fidelity simulator. Conclusions: There was a significant improve of the technical abilities reaching levels of improvement. Resident’s performance was evident in the sample groups. First year residents (PGY1) achieved knowledge retention after training similar to the performance of second in the initial assessment, suggesting that the sequenced training carried out is equivalent to one year of practice in the general surgery residency program

Introdução: O ensino em cirurgia convencional foi tradicionalmente baseado no modelo halstediano do “see one, do one and teach one” (veja um, faça um e ensine um); porém, com a bem sucedida propagação da cirurgia videolaparoscópica precisou ser adaptado para um novo modelo do “do many, mentored always” (fazer vários, sempre supervisionado). A nova era da cirurgia demanda treinamento sequencial, com crescente complexidade e repetição supervisionada para adquirir habilidades especificas prévias ao primeiro ato operatório. Objetivo: Desenvolver modelo para ensino e treinamento em videocirurgia com plataforma de baixo custo, fácil execução e baixa fidelidade com tarefas que utilizam materiais sintéticos. Método: Construiu-se com materiais de baixo custo plataforma utilizando apenas placa de madeira, poucos materiais de ferragem (parafuso simples, parafuso com porca tipo borboleta, gancho com rosca), folha de EVA (etileno acetato de vinila), tinta branca para artesanato e caneta hidrográfica. A amostra-teste foi composta por 15 cirurgiões gerais com mais de 10 anos de experiência em videolaparoscopia. Iniciou-se a avaliação com um vídeo explicativo com duração de 20 min. A seguir, cada cirurgião executou 5 tarefas gravadas para posterior análise e pontuação. Mediu-se as habilidades de acordo com a pontuação. Resultados: A plataforma foi útil e eficaz em reproduzir as atividades utilizadas para replicação do programa comparativo do Fundaments of Laparoscopic Surgery. A amostra de cirurgiões atingiu o tempo alvo definido como padrão pelo programa. Conclusão: A plataforma elaborada com materiais de baixo custo é de fácil aquisição, mostrou-se modelo eficaz para treinamento em videocirurgia, de fácil replicabilidade e construção, adaptável a vários modelos de tarefas, e feita com materiais sintéticos.

Introduction: Teaching in conventional surgery has traditionally been based on the Halstedian model of “see one, do one, and teach one”. However, with the widespread success of videolaparoscopic surgery, the teaching method needed to be adapted to a novel “Do many, always mentored” model. The modern era of surgery demands sequential training with progressively increasing complexity and supervised repetition, in order to acquire specific skills prior to the first surgical procedure. Objective: To develop a new experimental teaching and training with low cost and low fidelity platform for laparoscopic surgery using synthetic materials, and simple manufacturing. Method: A platform was built using low-cost materials easily found in hardware stores, consisting of a wooden board and a few hardware materials (threaded bolt, wing nut and bolt, threaded hooks), EVA sheet (ethylene vinylacetat), white crafting paint, and felt-tip pen. The sample consisted of 15 general surgeons with more than 10 years of experience in videolaparoscopy. The evaluation began with an explanatory video lasting 20 min. Next, each surgeon performed 5 recorded tasks for later analysis and scoring. Skills were measured according to the stablished score. Results: The developed platform was useful and capable of reproducing the tasks performed based on the program of Fundaments of Laparoscopic Surgery. All the surgeons of the sample group achieved the target time proposed for the program. Conclusion: Was shown that the proposed platform can be built using easily obtainable and low-cost materials, and it proved to be an effective model for training in laparoscopic surgery, being easy to replicate and construct. Additionally, this platform can be easily adapted to various models of tasks using materials similar to those found in other training programs, that are widely practiced and have been globally validated.

Resumo Diante das mudanças econômicas, políticas e tecnológicas do mundo do trabalho no território urbano, enfrentamos hoje novas informalidades que precarizam as relações e condições de trabalho de forma global. O objetivo deste ensaio é tecer reflexões críticas sobre os processos de novas subjetivações e riscos psicossociais da uberização do trabalho e seus impactos nas dinâmicas territoriais, destacando as empresas-plataforma que oferecem serviços de táxi e entrega, fazendo um panorama que desloca do cenário internacional para o nacional. Os trabalhadores uberizados enfrentam situações singulares de violências das empresas-plataforma e urbana, agravando os riscos psicossociais, a dignidade, a saúde e a qualidade de vida dos trabalhadores. Abstract In view of the economic, political, and technological changes in the world of work within the urban territory, nowadays we are facing new informalities that increase the precariousness of work relationships and conditions in a global level. This essay aims to reflect critically on new subjectivations and on psychosocial risks related to the uberization of work, analyzing their impacts on territorial dynamics. We highlight platform companies that offer taxi and delivery services, and we provide a panorama that shifts from the international to the national scenario. Uberized workers face unique episodes of violence committed by platform companies and urban violence, which intensify psychosocial risks and harm workers' dignity, health, and quality of life. In the criminal sphere, it is extremely important to identify perpetrators of crimes based on latent fingerprints (invisible to the naked eye) revealed at crime scenes and their corresponding objects. The present work aimed to evaluate four synthetic analogues of curcumin as possible IDL developers, and to compare their results with those of carbon black developer, as well as to reach the most adequate parameters in the use of the LTQ and FT-ICR mass spectrometers with the paper spray ionization (PS) source to study the chemical composition of the endogenous substances contained in the IDL. For this, a 24-1 factorial design was developed, where it was verified that the distance and voltage factors were the most influential for the increase in the response of signals, in the analysis of latent fingerprints by PS. Among the detected substances we can mention around 20 fatty acids, and squalene. Finally, four potential developers, synthetic analogues of curcumin, were compared with carbon black developer. The revelation of latent fingerprints occurred efficiently, allowing the visualization of minutiae, such as bifurcation and end of line, making it possible to classify them, according to the Vucetich Fingerprint Classification System.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Physical activity is an important tool to manage systemic arterial hypertension. However, less is known about the relationship of physical activity with the number of antihypertensive drugs used by older adults. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the number of antihypertensive drugs used by older female adults (aged ≥ 60 years) with a low level of physical activity with the number used by those with a high level of physical activity, and to verify how many participants used more than two antihypertensive drugs. Methods: Twenty-eight physically active older women with systemic arterial hypertension who participated in a physical activity program for community-dwelling older female adults were divided into two groups: participants who presented lower habitual physical activity levels were placed in group 1 and participants that presented higher habitual physical activity levels were placed in group 2, according to the Baecke questionnaire. In addition, the number of antihypertensive drugs used by participants was collected. Results: The number of prescribed antihypertensive drugs was 2.0 (median) for both groups investigated. There was no significant difference between groups regarding the number of antihypertensive tablets prescribed (p>0.05). Although there was no statistical difference, a higher proportion of participants from the lower physical activity group used more than two antihypertensive drugs. Conclusion: The level of habitual physical activity did not affect the number of antihypertensive tablets used by hypertensive elderly women. RESUMEN Introducción: La actividad física es una herramienta importante para el manejo de la hipertensión arterial sistémica. Sin embargo, se sabe poco sobre la relación de la actividad física con la cantidad de medicamentos antihipertensivos utilizados por las ancianas. Objetivo: El objetivo de este estudio fue hacer una comparación entre el número de medicamentos antihipertensivos utilizados por mujeres adultas mayores (≥ 60 años) y bajo nivel de actividad física con el número utilizado por aquellas con alto nivel de actividad física, y verificar cuántas de las participantes usaron más de dos medicamentos antihipertensivos. Métodos: Veintiocho ancianas físicamente activas con hipertensión arterial sistémica que participaron en un programa de actividad física para mujeres adultas mayores residentes en la comunidad fueran divididas en dos grupos: las participantes que presentaron niveles más bajos de actividad física habitual se ubicaron en el grupo 1 y las participantes que presentaron los mayores niveles de actividad física se ubicaron en el grupo 2, según el cuestionario de Baecke. Además, se recogió el número de medicamentos antihipertensivos utilizados por las participantes. Resultados: El número de comprimidos antihipertensivos prescritos fue de 2,0 (mediana) para ambos grupos investigados. No hubo diferencia significativa entre los grupos en cuanto al número de medicamentos antihipertensivos prescritos (p>0,05). Aunque no hubo diferencia estadística, una mayor proporción de participantes del grupo de menor actividad física usó más de dos medicamentos antihipertensivos. Conclusión: El nivel de actividad física habitual no afectó el número de comprimidos antihipertensivos utilizados por las ancianas hipertensas. RESUMO Introdução: A atividade física é uma importante ferramenta no manejo da hipertensão arterial sistêmica. No entanto, pouco se sabe sobre a relação entre a atividade física e a quantidade de anti-hipertensivos usados por idosos. Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo foi realizar uma comparação entre o número de anti-hipertensivos usados por idosas (≥ 60 anos) com baixo nível de atividade física com o número usado por aquelas com alto nível de atividade física, verificando quantas participantes usaram mais de dois anti-hipertensivos. Métodos: Vinte e oito idosas fisicamente ativas com hipertensão arterial sistêmica que participavam de um programa de atividade física para idosas da comunidade foram divididas em dois grupos: as participantes que apresentaram níveis mais baixos de atividade física habitual foram colocadas no grupo 1 e as participantes que apresentaram maiores níveis de atividade física foram colocados no grupo 2, de acordo com o questionário de Baecke. Ademais, coletou-se o número de medicamentos anti-hipertensivos utilizados pelas participantes. Resultados: O número de fármacos anti-hipertensivos prescritos foi de 2,0 (mediana) para ambos os grupos investigados. Não houve diferença significativa entre os grupos quanto ao número de comprimidos anti-hipertensivos prescritos (p>0,05). Embora não tenha havido diferença estatística, uma maior proporção de participantes entre o grupo de menor atividade física utilizava mais de dois anti-hipertensivos. Conclusão: O nível de atividade física habitual não afetou a quantidade de comprimidos anti-hipertensivos utilizados pelas idosas hipertensas. A systematic literature review was conducted in the database of Tests and Dissertations of Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) database and was restricted to the ten-year period between January 2012 and December 2021. Its purpose was to characterize the studies which, using the active Problem-Based Learning methodology, identified and researched the dimensions and sub-dimensions of the skills: Creativity, Criticality, Collaboration and Communication, treated in this article as 21st century skills. In all, four papers were found that investigated one or more 21st century skills. The results pointed to Collaboration as the most frequently addressed over this period, as well as producing indicators to justify the skills during the research stages. Thus, for example, creativity and criticality flourish with authentic and multifaceted problems, collaboration is revealed when students are encouraged to explore joint solutions and communication becomes effective when presenting solutions to complex problems.

Una revisión sistemática de la literatura se realizó en la Base de Datos de Tesis y Disertaciones de la Coordinación de Perfeccionamiento del Personal de la Educación Superior (CAPES) y se restringió al período de diez años comprendido entre enero de 2012 y diciembre de 2021. Su objetivo fue caracterizar los estudios que, utilizando la metodología activa de Aprendizaje Basado en Problemas, identificaron e investigaron las dimensiones y subdimensiones de las competencias: Creatividad, Criticidad, Colaboración y Comunicación, tratadas en este artículo como competencias del siglo XXI. En total, se encontraron cuatro artículos que investigaban una as más de las habilidades del siglo XXI. Los resultados señalaron la Colaboración como la más frecuentemente abordada durante este periodo, así como la producción de indicadores para justificar las habilidades durante las fases de investigación. Así, por ejemplo, la creatividad y la criticidad florecen con problemas auténticos y polifacéticos, la colaboración se pone de manifiesto cuando se anima a los alumnos a explorar soluciones juntos, y la comunicación se hace efectiva al presentar soluciones a problemas complejos.

Uma revisão sistemática de literatura foi desenvolvida na Base de Teses e Dissertações da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) restringindo-se ao período de dez anos, compreendida entre janeiro de 2012 e dezembro de 2021. Seu objetivo foi caracterizar os estudos que, por meio da metodologia ativa Aprendizagem Baseada em Problemas, identificaram e pesquisaram as dimensões e subdimensões das habilidades: Criatividade, Criticidade, Colaboração e Comunicação, tratadas neste artigo como habilidades do século XXI. Ao todo, foram encontrados quatro trabalhos que investigaram uma ou mais habilidades do século XXI. Os resultados apontaram a Colaboração como a mais abordada ao longo desse período, além de produzirem indicadores que justificassem as habilidades durante as etapas das pesquisas. Assim, por exemplo, a criatividade e a criticidade florescem com problemas autênticos e multifacetados, a colaboração se desenvolve quando os alunos são incentivados a explorar soluções conjuntas e a comunicação se torna eficaz ao apresentar soluções para problemas complexos.

Resumo O artigo analisou o processo de precarização das relações de trabalho no setor da saúde, demonstrando como essa situação gerou sofrimento dos trabalhadores. O texto buscou registrar como a adoção institucional das concepções econômicas neoliberais, de redução das políticas sociais de Estado, acopladas a um histórico de rejeição cultural aos direitos trabalhistas, proporcionou a atração dos mecanismos de precarização do trabalho, notadamente, a terceirização da mão de obra e da prestação de serviços. No segundo momento, o texto aponta as impropriedades jurídicas cometidas, apresentando as consequências da fragilização do vínculo jurídico nas condições de trabalho desses trabalhadores, principalmente no que se refere às jornadas de trabalho e a remuneração, destacando-se, também, o quanto a disseminação desses vínculos representou um fator de rebaixamento geral dos salários e direitos trabalhistas e previdenciários no setor. Foram apresentados, ainda, dados das pesquisas da Fiocruz sobre condições de trabalho durante a pandemia. Conclui mostrando a urgência de se resgatarem os institutos jurídicos trabalhistas que foram abandonados no percurso histórico estudado, para direcionar a novo rumo as políticas públicas na saúde.

The text sought to register how the institutional adoption of neoliberal economic conceptions, of the reduction of State social policies, coupled with a history of cultural rejection of labor rights, provided the attraction of mechanisms of precarious work for the public sector, notably, the outsourcing of labor and the provision of services. In a second moment, the text points out the legal improprieties committed, presenting the consequences of the weakening of the legal bond in the working conditions of these workers, mainly regarding working hours and remuneration, also highlighting how much the dissemination of these links represented a factor of a general reduction in wages and labor and social security rights in the sector. Data from Fiocruz surveys on working conditions during the pandemic were also presented. The article concludes by showing the urgency of rescuing the legal labor institutes that were abandoned in the historical path studied in order to guide the public health policies in a new direction.

Abstract Background: Teletriage comprises the preliminary remote assessment of clinical signs and symptoms and its consequent referral to the most appropriate healthcare services (emergent, urgent or non-urgent ones). LUZ24 covers videoconsultation and teletriage, the latter one being exclusively carried out by a team of nurses also composed by specialists in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing. Aim: To measure the results of the teletriage activity performed by LUZ24 nurses in a Mental Health and Psychiatry field. Methods: Document analysis that emerged from the following question: What are the results of the teletriage activity performed by nurses from LUZ24 in the context of psychiatric and mental health? The Strengthening Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) guidelines were followed. Study developed from the analysis of the Oracle BI Publisher electronic clinical records database regarding teletriages carried out between January 2020 and December 2021. The analysis and consequent treatment of the data used the Microsoft Excel tool on its version 2021, with descriptive statistical measures being applied for the characterization of the sample and for the clinical data. The research was approved by the Research Commission and the Competent Ethics Commission of Hospital da Luz. Results: Out of a total of 63,396 general teletriage assessments, 1,005 (1.59%) were analyzed in the scope of mental health and psychiatry. The sample is predominantly female (64.78%), with an average age of 50.41 years. The teletriage was conducted using decision-making algorithms called protocols. Ten protocols were used, with the three most prevalent being Anxiety or Situational Crisis (47.16%), Insomnia (26.77%), and Mental Illness (14.33%). Referral to consultation was the most prevalent (63.98%). Conclusions: The teletriage conducted by expert nurses - trained in remote clinical evaluation and using protocols - enabled the evaluation of symptomatology in the scope of mental health and psychiatric, as well as the referral of clients.

Resumen Introducción: El teletriaje comprende la evaluación preliminar remota de signos y síntomas y la derivación del cliente al contexto de salud más adecuado (emergente, urgente o no-urgente). LUZ24 abarca la videoconsulta y el teletriaje, siendo esta última realizada exclusivamente por enfermeros, algunos de los cuales también especialistas en Salud Mental y Psiquiátrica. Objetivo: Mapear los resultados de la actividad de teletriaje realizada por enfermeros de LUZ24 en el campo de la Salud Mental y Psiquiátrica. Métodos: Análisis documental que surge de la cuestíon: ¿Cuáles son los resultados de la actividad en teletriaje realizada por enfermeros de LUZ24 en el campo de la salud mental y psiquiátrica? Se ha utilizado el guía de Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) para el efecto. Estudio desarrollado a partir del análisis de la base de datos de registros clínicos electrónicas Oracle BI Publisher con respecto de los teletriajes realizados en el período entre enero de 2020 y diciembre de 2021. El análisis y tratamiento de los datos se realizaron con la herramienta de Microsoft Excel en su versión 2021, utilizando medidas de estadística descriptiva para la caracterización de la muestra y datos clínicos. La investigación fue aprobada por la Comisión de Investigación y la Comisión de Ética Competente del Hospital da Luz. Resultados: De un total de 63396 teletriajes, se analizaron 1.005 (1,59%) en el ámbito de la salud mental y psiquiátrica. La muestra es predominantemente compuesta por elementos femeninos (64,78%) con una edad media de 50,41 años. El teletriaje presupone el manejo de algoritmos de toma de decisiones, también conocidos como protocolos. Se han utilizado diez protocolos, siendo los tres más prevalentes: ansiedad o crisis situacional (47,16%), Insomnio (26,77%) y enfermedad mental (14,33%). La derivación para consulta fue la más prevalente (63,98%). Conclusiones: El teletriaje realizado por enfermeros expertos - capacitados en la evaluación clínica a distancia y utilizando protocolos - aseguró la evaluación de la sintomatología en el contexto de la salud mental y psiquiatría y la derivación de clientes para consultas especializadas.

A LUZ24 abrange a vídeoconsulta e a teletriagem, sendo esta última efetuada exclusivamente por enfermeiros, integrando enfermeiros especialistas em Enfermagem de Saúde Mental e Psiquiátrica. Objetivo: Mapear os resultados da atividade em teletriagem realizada por enfermeiros da LUZ24, no âmbito da saúde mental e psiquiátrica. Método: Análise documental que partiu da questão: Quais são os resultados da atividade em teletriagem, realizada por enfermeiros da LUZ24, no âmbito da saúde mental e psiquiátrica. Seguiram-se as diretrizes Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE). Estudo desenvolvido a partir da análise da base de dados de registos clínicos eletrónicos Oracle BI Publisher relativamente às teletriagens efetuadas no período entre janeiro de 2020 e dezembro de 2021. A análise e tratamento dos dados foi efetuada com recurso à ferramenta do Microsoft Excel versão 2021, tendo sido utilizadas medidas de estatística descritiva para a caracterização da amostra e para os dados clínicos. A investigação foi aprovada pela Comissão de Investigação e Comissão de Ética Competente do Hospital da Luz. A teletriagem foi realizada com recurso a algoritmos de tomada de decisão, designados de protocolos. Foram utilizados 10 protocolos, sendo os três mais prevalentes: Ansiedade ou crise situacional (47,16%), Insónia (26,77%) e Doença mental (14,33%). A orientação para a consulta foi o encaminhamento mais prevalente (63.98%). Conclusões: A teletriagem realizada por enfermeiros peritos - treinados na avaliação clínica remota e com recurso a protocolos - possibilitou a avaliação de sintomatologia no âmbito da saúde mental e psiquiátrica e o encaminhamento dos clientes.

Foram incluídos estudos que investigaram a relação entre desrespeito e abuso no parto e depressão pós-parto. Foram considerados como depressão os casos diagnosticados pelo médico e os autorrelatos por meio de escalas validadas, sem restrições quanto ao ano de publicação e ao idioma. Identificaram-se 3.399 publicações e, após remoção de duplicatas, leitura de título, resumo e textos completos, houve seleção de sete artigos para integrar esta revisão. Os estudos foram publicados a partir de 2017 e somente em quatro países. As mulheres que tiveram experiências de desrespeito e abuso no parto foram mais propensas a apresentar sintomas de depressão pós-parto. Faz-se necessária uma terminologia padrão para a assistência desrespeitosa e abusiva no parto, bem como a elaboração de instrumento para mensuração que seja aceito universalmente.

El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar en la literatura científica la relación entre la falta de respeto y el abuso durante el parto y la ocurrencia de depresión posparto. Esta es una revisión de alcance realizada según las recomendaciones del Instituto Joanna Briggs. Las búsquedas se realizaron en las bases de datos Embase, LILACS, MEDLINE, PsycINFO y Web of Science y en el Portal de Disertaciones y Tesis de la CAPES. Se incluyeron estudios que investigaron la relación entre la falta de respeto y el abuso durante el parto y la depresión posparto, y se consideró como depresión los casos diagnosticados por el médico y autorreportados mediante escalas validadas, sin restricción de año de publicación o idioma. Se identificaron 3.399 publicaciones y, después de eliminar los duplicados y analizar el título, el resumen y los textos completos, se seleccionaron siete artículos para componer esta revisión. Los estudios se publicaron a partir de 2017, solamente en cuatro países. Las mujeres que tuvieron experiencias de falta de respeto y abuso durante el parto tenían más probabilidades de presentar síntomas de depresión posparto. Se necesita una terminología estándar para la atención del parto irrespetuosa y abusiva, así como el desarrollo de un instrumento de medición que sea universalmente aceptado.

This study aims to map, within the scientific literature, the relationship between disrespect and abuse during childbirth and the occurrence of postpartum depression. This is a scoping review designed in accordance with the recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute. The search was performed in Embase, LILACS, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and in the CAPES Portal of Theses and Dissertations. We included studies that investigated the relationship between disrespect and abuse during childbirth with postpartum depression, considering cases diagnosed by physicians and by self-reports via validated scales, without restrictions regarding the year of publication and language. A total of 3,399 publications were identified and, after removing the duplicates and reading the title, abstracts, and the full-texts, seven articles were selected to integrate this review. Studies were published from 2017 onward, in four countries. Women who had experienced disrespect and abuse during childbirth were more likely to experience symptoms of postpartum depression. A standard terminology is necessary for disrespectful and abusive care during childbirth, as well as the elaboration of a measurement instrument that is universally accepted.

ABSTRACT Insects are fundamental to biodiversity conservation in almost all ecosystems, and their population decline, and extinction directly result from environmental impacts. These facts are aggravated by the lack of knowledge of insect biodiversity, the so-called biodiversity deficits, especially the Linnean and Wallacean shortfalls. In freshwater ecosystems, biodiversity loss is higher among aquatic insects, and caddisflies comprise one of the most vulnerable orders. In this way, research focusing on describing new caddisfly species and understanding their distribution ranges will increase knowledge of caddisfly biodiversity. In the past 14 years, the team from the Laboratório de Entomologia Aquática “Prof. Dr. Claudio Gilberto Froehlich” (LEAq, Universidade Federal da Bahia, Brazil) and collaborators have been addressing these issues, resulting in 55 described species of caddisflies. Taxa in other insect orders have also received attention and an additional 16 species have been described (eight mayflies, four stoneflies, four neuropteran spongillaflies, and antlions). Here, eight caddisfly species are described and illustrated (Atopsyche froehlichi sp. nov., Austrotinodes zeferina sp. nov., Cernotina kariri sp. nov., Neoathripsodes froehlichi sp. nov., Notalina claudiofroehlichi sp. nov., Oecetis marcus sp. nov., Phylloicus froehlichi sp. nov., and Polycentropus claudioi sp. nov.), five of them in honor of LEAq’s patron. In addition, new distributional data are presented for 10 known species. A checklist of the caddisfly fauna of Bahia state is also presented, with 138 species, around 75% and 30% of them recorded and described by the LEAq team, respectively. Currently, for caddisflies, Bahia is the fifth most species-rich state in Brazil, and the first in the Brazilian Northeast region.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Although bariatric surgery is today’s gold standard treatment for obesity, weight regain affects the success rate of the procedure. Recent studies have identified psychiatric and neurological factors as possible causes. AIMS: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of psychiatric diseases on the outcome and long-term success of bariatric surgeries and find a weight regain threshold that has an acceptable sensibility to mental health-related issues to be used in research and clinical studies. METHODS: This is a observational study of bariatric patients submitted to Roux-en-Y bypass or sleeve gastrectomy, with a postoperative time of 2–10 years to access weight regain, depression, and binge-eating disorder. RESULTS: Of 217 patients studied, 163 were women and 54 were men, with an average postoperative time of 5.2±2.6 years. Weight regain was experienced in 35% of the patients, binge-eating disorder in 24.9%, and depression in 24%. The greater weight before surgery, body mass index (BMI), percentage increase to maximum weight loss, and time postoperatively all have a significant positive correlation with weight regain (p=0.045, p=0.026, p<0.001, and p<0.001, respectively). A significant association between binge-eating disorder, depression, and anxiety with weight regain (p=0.004, p=0.008, and p=0.001, respectively) was found. CONCLUSIONS: The significant weight regain rates with significant impact on psychiatric disorders highlight the need for continuous postoperative monitoring focused on the psychiatric aspects of obesity to aid surgeries’ long-term success.

RESUMO INTRODUÇÃO: Embora a cirurgia bariátrica atualmente é considerada o tratamento padrão ouro para a obesidade, o reganho de peso afeta a taxa de sucesso do procedimento. Estudos recentes identificaram fatores psiquiátricos e neurológicos como possíveis causas. OBJETIVOS: Avaliar a influência de transtornos psiquiátricos no resultado a longo prazo das cirurgias bariátricas; testar a sensibilidade e correlação das fórmulas de reganho de peso e de seus respectivos pontos de corte para questões relacionadas à saúde mental. MÉTODOS: Estudo observacional de pacientes pós bariátricos submetidos à by-pass em Y de Roux ou gastrectomia vertical com pós-operatório de 2 a10 anos avaliados quanto a reganho de peso, depressão e transtorno da compulsão alimentar. RESULTADOS: Foram avaliados 217 pacientes, 163 mulheres e 54 homens com pós-operatório de 5,2±2,6 anos. O reganho de peso foi registrado em 35% dos pacientes, o transtorno da compulsão alimentar (TCA) foi encontrado em 24,9% e depressão em 24%. O ganho de peso pré-operatório, o índice de massa corporea (IMC), o aumento percentual para perda máxima de peso e tempo de pós-operatório, apresentaram correlação positiva significativa com o reganho de peso (p=0,045), (p=0,026), (<0,001), (<0,001). Foi encontrada associação significativa entre TCA, depressão e ansiedade com reganho de peso (p=0,004), (p=0,008) e (p=0,001). CONCLUSÕES: As taxas significativas de reganho de peso associado ao impacto dos transtornos psiquiátricos reforçam a necessidade de acompanhamento pós-operatório contínuo focado nos aspectos psiquiátricos da obesidade, para sucesso do tratamento cirúrgico em longo prazo.

Innate immunity refers to the mechanisms responsible for the first line of defense against pathogens, cancer cells and toxins. The innate immune system is also responsible for the initial activation of the body’s specific immune response (adaptive immunity). Innate immunity was studied and further developed in parallel with adaptive immunity beginning in the first half of the 19th century and has been gaining increasing importance to our understanding of health and disease. In the present overview, we describe the main findings and ideas that contributed to the development of innate immunity as a continually expanding branch of modern immunology. We start with the toxicological studies by Von Haller and Magendie, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and continue with the discoveries in invertebrate immunity that supported the discovery and characterization of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and pattern recognition receptors that led to the development of the pattern recognition and danger theory.

ABSTRACT In the Cerrado, the palm swamps ( veredas ) are characterized by being humid and stable environments that lead to the formation of Histosols ( Organossolos ). and soils with surface horizons of organic constitution, which are fragile and sensitive to anthropic action. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of anthropization (recurrent forest fires and livestock farming) on the chemical, physical and morphological properties of soils in two palm swamps in the Environmental Preservation Area (EPA) of Pandeiros River, Minas Gerais, namely: Água Doce, in preserved condition, and Taboa, in anthropized condition. Four soil profiles were morphologically described, two profiles in each palm swamp, with subsequent chemical and physical analyses, calculations of organic carbon stock and identification of the origin of organic matter. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Soil morphological properties were influenced by vegetation cover, drainage and anthropization conditions. As for the physical and chemical properties, adequate values were observed in the preserved palm swamp, including lower bulk density values and higher cation contents. Anthropic actions in the anthropized palm swamp caused degradation of soils, revealed by subsidence, reduction in organic carbon content, increase in bulk density and decrease in fertility. Changes promoted in the soils of the palm swamps compromise ecosystem services, indicating that actions at either local or governmental level should be stimulated for the preservation and conservation of these environments.

ABSTRACT Objective The extrinsic muscles, such as the posterior tibialis and long flexor of the hallux and the intrinsic of the foot, are part of the active subsystem of the central system of the foot and play an essential role in the control of the medial longitudinal arch resulting from difficulty in contracting the muscle, neuromuscular electrostimulation (NMES) becomes a resource combined with strengthening and recommended for rehabilitation. T this work aims to evaluate the effectiveness of NMES associated with exercise in deforming the medial longitudinal arch. Methods This is a randomized blind clinical trial. 60 asymptomatic participants were divided into three groups: NMES, exercise and control. The NMES and exercise group performed seven exercises for the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles twice a week for 6 weeks, and the NMES group used an NMES associated with five exercises. Navicular height and medial longitudinal arch angle were taken before and after the intervention period. Results No statistically significant differences existed between groups for navicular height and medial longitudinal arch angle. Conclusion NMES associated with exercise does not change the characteristics of the medial longitudinal arch in association with asymptomatic. Level of Evidence I; Randomized clinical trial.

RESUMO Objetivo Os músculos extrínsecos, como o tibial posterior e flexor longo do hálux e os intrínsecos do pé fazem parte do subsistema ativo do foot core system e exercem papel essencial no controle do arco longitudinal medial. Devido à dificuldade na contração desses músculos, a eletroestimulação neuromuscular (EENM) torna-se um recurso aliado ao fortalecimento e é recomendada para reabilitação. O objetivo desse trabalho é avaliar a eficácia da EENM associada ao exercício na deformação do arco longitudinal medial. Métodos Este é um ensaio clínico randomizado cego. 60 participantes assintomáticos foram divididos em três grupos: EENM, exercício e controle. O grupo EENM e exercício realizaram sete exercícios para os músculos intrínsecos e extrínsecos duas vezes por semana por seis semanas, sendo o grupo EENM utilizou a EENM associada a cinco exercícios. A altura do navicular e o ângulo do arco longitudinal medial foram medidos antes e após o período de intervenção. Resultados Não houve diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre os grupos para a altura do navicular e ângulo do arco longitudinal medial. Conclusão A EENM associada ao exercício não altera as características do arco longitudinal medial em indivíduos assintomáticos. Nível de Evidência I; Estudo Clínico Randomizado.
