Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi a geração de modelos de volume comercial com casca (Vcc) em povoamentos de Eucalyptus dunnii e urograndis em diferentes estágios de crescimento e condições de sítio, utilizando dados de reflectância das diferentes regiões do espectro eletromagnético e de índices de vegetação. As regressões lineares múltiplas geradas resultaram em três modelos preditivos, sendo que os mais significativos, em ordem decrescente foram para as espécies de Eucalyptus dunnii e Eucalyptus urograndis com 50 e 59 meses de idade, respectivamente, seguido pelo modelo para Eucalyptus urograndis de 25 meses, apesar da equação de regressão para Eucalyptus dunnii de 34 meses, não tenha sido significativa. O índice de vegetação ajustado ao solo (SAVI 0,5) mostrou-se relevante na construção dos três modelos, pelos diferentes graus de contribuição da componente solo, decorrente do não fechamento das copas em povoamentos jovens de diferentes idades. A região do infravermelho de ondas curtas (SWIR 1) também compôs os modelos de Eucalyptus dunnii e Eucalyptus urograndis, analisados conjuntamente e o modelo preditivo para Eucalyptus dunnii, demonstrando a importância da estrutura do dossel florestal por esta região do espectro eletromagnético estar relacionada ao aumento do conteúdo de lignina e em decorrência da evolução de sua capacidade produtiva.

Abstract The aim of this study was the generation of trade volume models with bark (VB) in Eucalyptus dunnii and urograndis stands at different growth site conditions, using reflectance data from different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum and vegetation indices. The multiple linear regressions generated, resulting in three predictive models, being the most significant ones, in decreasing order were for the species of Eucalyptus dunnii and Eucalyptus urograndis of 50 and 59 months of age, respectively, followed by the model for 25-month old Eucalyptus urograndis. Although, the regression equation for 34-month old Eucalyptus dunnii was not significant. The vegetation index adjusted to the soil (SAVI 0.5) was relevant in the construction of the three models dueto the different degrees of contribution of the soil component, as a result the non-closure of the crowns in young stands at different ages. The short wave-infrared region (SWIR 1 - TM5) also composed the models of Eucalyptus dunnii and Eucalyptus urograndis, analyzed together and the predictive model for Eucalyptus dunnii, demonstrating the importance of the forest canopy structure because this region of the electromagnetic spectrum is related to increased lignin content and because of the evolution of its productive capacity.

RESUMO A expansão desordenada das atividades humanas pode acarretar a redução da cobertura vegetal, o aumento de processos erosivos e de áreas impermeabilizadas. O objetivo desse estudo é avaliar a cobertura florestal utilizando método de pesos de evidência a partir de mapas do uso da terra entre o ano 1996 e 2011 na Microrregião da Campanha Ocidental - RS. O banco de dados espaciais foi construído no aplicativo SPRING na versão 5.2.1 a partir de imagens LANDSAT 5, as quais foram georreferenciadas e classificadas. Variáveis geofísicas e socioeconômicas foram incluídas no banco de dados para posterior análise no aplicativo Dinamica EGO na versão 2.2.8. Para a parametrização do modelo probabilístico de análise da dinâmica de mudança da cobertura florestal, foi realizado o cálculo de percentual das mudanças de classes por meio de matrizes de transição; cálculo das faixas para discretização das variáveis contínuas; cálculo dos pesos de evidência (W+); análise da correlação dos pesos entre as variáveis de entrada para todas as transições; simulação de cenários futuros e; validação do mapa final simulado com base no mapa histórico. Esse modelo mostrou-se adequado para o entendimento das variáveis que mais contribuem para as mudanças da cobertura florestal na região. O surgimento de novas áreas florestais foi influenciado pelas condicionantes hipsometria, distância aos areais e renda per capita, enquanto que o desmatamento, pela população rural e distância aos areais.

ABSTRACT The uncontrolled expansion of human activities may lead to a reduction in vegetation cover, an increase in erosion processes and soil sealing. The aim of this study is to examine forest cover using the Weights of evidence method based on land use maps between the years of 1996 and 2011 in the micro-region of the Campanha Ocidental located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). The spatial database was constructed in SPRING software (version 5.2.1) based on LANDSAT 5 images, which were georeferenced and classified. Geophysical and socioeconomic variables were included in the database for further analysis in Dinamica EGO software (version 2.2.8). In order to parameterize the probabilistic model for the analysis of the dynamics of forest cover change, we calculated the percentage of class change through transition matrices; calculated the intervals for discretization of continuous variables; calculated the weights of evidence (W+); analyzed the correlation between the weights of the input variables for all transitions; simulated future scenarios and; validated the simulated final map based on the historical map. This model was adequate for understanding the variables that most contribute to forest cover change in the region. The results showed that the emergence of new forest areas was influenced by hypsometry, distance to sandy lands and per capita income, while deforestation by rural population and distance to the sandy lands.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a utilização de imagens do sensor TM/Landsat 5 na diferenciação de plantios comerciais de Eucalyptus dunnii e Eucalyptus urograndis com diferentes idades. Demarcaram-se parcelas para identificar as duas espécies, em dois períodos distintos (2009 e 2011), a idades de 3 e 5 anos, para E. dunnii, e 2,2 e 4,2 anos para E. urograndis. Avaliaram-se seis bandas do sensor TM/Landsat 5 (B1, B2, B3, B4, B5 e B7) e seis índices de vegetação: razão simples (SR); índice de vegetação por diferença normalizada (NDVI); índice de vegetação ajustado ao solo (Savi)-0,25; Savi-0,5; índice de vegetação por diferença normalizada com uso da banda verde (GNDVI); e índice de umidade na vegetação (MVI). O processamento digital das imagens consistiu de correção geométrica, radiométrica e atmosférica. Os plantios de E. dunnii e E. urograndis foram diferenciados por meio de cinco bandas do Landsat (B2, B3, B4, B5 e B7) e três índices de vegetação (Savi-0,5, Savi-0,25 e GNDVI), no ano de 2009, e por quatro bandas do Landsat (B2, B4, B5 e B7) e seis índices de vegetação (NDVI, SR, Savi-0,5, Savi-0,25, MVI e GNDVI) no ano de 2011. Os dados espectrais extraídos das imagens TM/Landsat 5 são eficazes, tanto para distinguir as espécies de eucalipto como também a mesma espécie em plantios equiâneos.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the use of the TM/Landsat 5 sensor imagens in the differentiation of commercial plantations of Eucalyptus urograndis and Eucalyptus dunnii of different ages. Plots were marked for identification of the two Eucalyptus species, in two different periods (2009 and 2011): for 3- and 5-year-old E. dunnii, and for 2.2- and 4.2-year-old E. urograndis. Evaluations were done for six bands of the TM/Landsat 5 sensor (B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, and B7), and for six vegetation indices - simple ratio (SR); and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI); soil-adjusted vegetation index (Savi)-0.25; Savi-0.5; green NDVI (GNDVI); and the moisture-vegetation index (MVI). Image digital processing consisted of geometric, radiometric, and atmospheric corrections. The plantations of E. dunnii and E. urograndis were distinguished by five bands of Landsat (B2, B3, B4, B5, and B7) and three vegetation indices (Savi-0.5, Savi-0.25, and GNDVI), in 2009, and by four bands of Landsat (B2, B4, B5, and B7) and six vegetation indices (NDVI, SR, Savi-0.5, Savi-0.25, MVI, and GNDVI) in 2011. The spectral data extracted from TM/Landsat 5 images are effective, both to distinguish the species of eucalyptus as well as the same species in even-aged stand.

Para analisar a transformação temporal da cobertura e do uso das terras de Campanha Ocidental no Rio Grande do Sul, utilizou-se um mosaico de imagens do satélite LANDSAT 5 (sensor Thematic Mapper), que recobre a região de estudo nos períodos de 1985, 1996 e 2011. Essas imagens foram processadas e analisadas no aplicativo SPRING 5.2.1, onde pelo qual o cruzamento dos mapas temáticos, com o auxílio da programação LEGAL (Linguagem Espacial para Geoprocessamento Algébrico), foi realizado. A agricultura e o campo foram as classes que mais influenciaram as mudanças de Uso da Terra.

To analyze the temporal transformation of land cover and use in the microregion of Campanha Ocidental, Rio Grande do Sul state, a mosaic of LANDSAT 5 satellite images (Thematic Mapper sensor) covering the study region was used for the periods of 1985, 1996 and 2011. These images were processed and analyzed in SPRING 5.2.1 application, and the intersection of thematic maps was conducted with the aid of LEGAL (Spatial Language for Algebraic Geoprocessing) program. Agricultural and native areas were the classes that most influenced the changes in Land Use.

RESUMO Modelos relacionando respostas espectrais com parâmetros biofísicos visam estimar variáveis, tais como volume de madeira, sem a necessidade de avaliações constantes em campo. Objetivou-se desenvolver modelos estimadores de volume de madeira a partir de imagens TM do Landsat 5, com base em dados de inventário florestal regional. A imagem foi georreferenciada e convertida para imagem reflectância espectral. Em seguida, foram geradas as imagens índice NDVI (índice de vegetação da diferença normalizada) e SR (razão simples). Os valores das reflectâncias das bandas (TM1, TM2, TM3 e TM4) e dos índices (NDVI e SR) foram relacionados com os volumes de madeira. As maiores correlações com volume foram com os índices NDVI e SR. A seleção de variáveis foi feita pelo método Stepwise, o qual retornou três modelos de regressão como significativos para explicar a variação em volume. Por fim, selecionou-se o modelo com melhor ajuste (volume = -830,95 + 46,05 × (SR) + 107,47 × (TM2)), o qual foi aplicado sobre a imagem Landsat onde os pixels passaram a representar o volume estimado em m³/ha nas unidades de produção de Eucalyptus sp. Este modelo, significativo ao nível de 95 % de confiança, explica 68 % da variação de volume de madeira.

ABSTRACT Models relating spectral answers with biophysical parameters aim estimate variables, such as wood volume, without the necessity of frequent field measurements. The objective was to develop models to estimate wood volume by Landsat 5 TM images, supported by regional forest inventory data. The image was georeferenced and converted to spectral reflectance. After, the images-index NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and SR (Simple Ratio) was generated. The reflectance values of both spectral bands (TM1, TM2, TM3 e TM4 ) and indices (NDVI and SR) was related with the wood volume. The biggest correlation with volume was with the NDVI and SR indices. The variables selection was made by Stepwise method, which returned three regression models as significant to explain the variation in volume. Finally, the best fitted model was selected (volume = -830,95 + 46,05 × (SR) + 107,47 × (TM2)), which was applied on the Landsat image where the pixels had started to represent the estimated volume in m³/ha on the Eucalyptus sp. production units. This model, significant at 95 % confidence level, explains 68 % of the wood volume variation.
