RESUMO O objetivo do trabalho foi testar dietas artificiais para a criação em laboratório de Condylorrhiza vestigialis (Guenée, 1854) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), que é considerada a principal praga de árvores do gênero Populus, no Brasil. Foram testadas três formulações de dietas artificiais com base na dieta desenvolvida por Greene, e duas alterações na dieta proposta por Hoffmann-Campo. Foram avaliados o número de larvas mortas; o número de larvas canibalizadas; a quantidade de pupas mal-formadas; o número de ínstares larvais; a quantidade de pupas inviáveis; o número de adultos mal-formados; e o número de adultos normais. Os dados obtidos foram submetidos à análise estatística ANOVA e ao teste de comparação de médias, Student-Newman-Keuls (SNK), ao nível de 5% de probabilidade de erro, sendo utilizado como delineamento estatístico, o inteiramente casualizado. Também foram avaliados parâmetros biológicos das mariposas alimentadas com cada dieta testada: período de incubação dos ovos (em dias); duração da fase larval, pré-pupa e pupa (em dias); peso das pupas fêmeas e machos com 5 dias de idade (em gramas); razão sexual. A Dieta Base 2 é a mais eficiente e viável dentre as dietas testadas para a criação de Condylorrhiza vestigialis em laboratório, pois é a que proporciona o desenvolvimento mais eficiente durante as etapas do seu ciclo de vida e a que gera maiores quantidades de adultos saudáveis e férteis, possibilitando assim o aumento do número de indivíduos e a manutenção da população.

ABSCTRACT The objective of the work was to test artificial diets for the rearing in the laboratory of Condylorrhiza vestigialis (Guenée, 1854) (Lepidoptera: Crambidae), which is considered the main pest of trees of the genus Populus in Brazil. Three formulations of artificial diets were tested based on the diet developed by Greene, and two changes in the diet proposed by Hoffmann-Campo. The number of dead larvae was evaluated; number of cannibalized larvae; amount of malformed pupae; number of larval instars; number of unviable pupae; number of malformed adults; and number of normal adults. The data obtained were submitted to ANOVA statistical analysis and to the means comparison test, Student-Newman-Keuls (SNK), at the level of 5% probability of error, with the statistical design used being completely randomized. The biological parameters of the moths fed with each tested diet were also evaluated: incubation period of the eggs (in days); duration of the larval phase, pre-pupa and pupa (in days); weight of female and male pupae at 5 days of age (in grams); sexual reason. The Base 2 Diet is the most efficient and feasible among the diets tested for the rearing of Condylorrhiza vestigialis in the laboratory, providing the most efficient development during the stages of its life cycle, generating greater quantities of healthy and fertile adults, enabling the increase of the number of individuals and the maintenance of the population.

RESUMO: A exploração contínua e insustentável dos recursos naturais promove a degradação ambiental e ameaça a conservação das florestas secas no mundo. Essa situação expõe a fragilidade e a necessidade de estudar as transformações da paisagem. É necessário considerar o quantitativo de biomassa e o estabelecimento de estratégias para monitorar distúrbios naturais e antrópicos. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar a relação entre o índice de vegetação e a biomassa estimada por meio de equações alométricas em diferentes áreas da caatinga brasileira a partir de imagens de satélite. Este procedimento é realizado estimando-se a biomassa de nove fragmentos de floresta tropical seca com o uso em equações alométricas. As delimitações das áreas foram obtidas da coleção da Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária, a partir dos dados dendrométricos coletados no período entre 2011 e 2012. As variáveis espectrais foram obtidas a partir das imagens ortorretificadas do satélite RapidEye. A biomassa acima do solo variou de 6,88 a 123,82 Mg.ha-1. Os valores de SAVI para os coeficientes L = 1 e L = 0,5, NDVI e EVI variaram de 0,1835 a 0,4294, 0,2197 a 0,5019, 0,3622 a 0,7584 e 0,0987 a 0,3169, respectivamente. As relações entre a biomassa estimada e os índices de vegetação foram moderadas, com coeficiente de correlação (rs) variando entre 0,64 e 0,58. A equação mais bem ajustada foi a Equação do SAVI, com coeficiente de determinação foi R² = 0,50, R2aj = 0.49, RMSE = 17.18 Mg.ha-1 e erro médio absoluto de predição (MAE) = 14.07 Mg.ha-1, confirmando a importância do índice SAVI na estimativa da biomassa aérea da Caatinga.

ABSTRACT: Continued unsustainable exploitation of natural resources promotes environmental degradation and threatens the preservation of dry forests around the world. This situation exposes the fragility and the necessity to study landscape transformations. In addition, it is necessary to consider the biomass quantity and to establish strategies to monitor natural and anthropic disturbances. Thus, this research analyzed the relationship between vegetation index and the estimated biomass using allometric equations in different Brazilian caatinga forest areas from satellite images. This procedure is performed by estimating the biomass from 9 dry tropical forest fragments using allometric equations. Area delimitations were obtained from the Embrapa collection of dendrometric data collected in the period between 2011 and 2012. Spectral variables were obtained from the orthorectified images of the RapidEye satellite. The aboveground biomass ranged from 6.88 to 123.82 Mg.ha-1. SAVI values were L = 1 and L = 0.5, while NDVI and EVI ranged from 0.1835 to 0.4294, 0.2197 to 0.5019, 0.3622 to 0.7584, and 0.0987 to 0.3169, respectively. Relationships among the estimated biomass and the vegetation indexes were moderate, with correlation coefficients (Rs) varying between 0.64 and 0.58. The best adjusted equation was the SAVI equation, for which the coefficient of determination was R² = 0.50, R2aj = 0.49, RMSE = 17.18 Mg.ha-1 and mean absolute error of prediction (MAE) = 14.07 Mg.ha-1, confirming the importance of the Savi index in estimating the caatinga aboveground biomass.

Resumo A realização de queimas prescritas, com diferentes objetivos de gestão e manejo, vem sendo aplicada mais frequentemente em áreas protegidas. Com o intuito de compreender o efeito do fogo, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a abundância e a diversidade dos microrganismos fúngicos em resposta ao uso do fogo e incêndios florestais. As amostras de solo anterior e após a queimada foram coletadas, sendo os fungos isolados pelo método de plaqueamento, posteriormente quantificados por meio da contagem das unidades formadoras de colônia (UFC g-1) e identificados ao nível de gênero. A média de UFC g-1 não apresentou diferença significativa entre os regimes de fogo avaliados, no entanto houve diferença significativa (p<0,05) para diversidade, tendo os dois anos de incêndios ocasionado menor diversidade de gênero. Os gêneros Aspergillus e Penicillium estiveram presentes em todas as áreas amostradas, com maiores valores de UFC g-1, enquanto os gêneros Mucor e Rhizopus apresentaram os menores valores. A média de unidade formadora de colônia (UFC g-1) e diversidade antes e após a queima prescrita diferiram estatisticamente (p<0,05), sendo que a média de UFC g-1 teve redução e a diversidade apresentou aumento após a passagem do fogo em todas as áreas avaliadas. A maior redução da média de UFC g-1 ocorreu para o mês de julho. Os valores de coeficientes de correlação de Pearson obtidos demonstraram correlação negativa significativa entre a média de UFC g-1, a diversidade e a temperatura (r=0,70; r=-0,98 e p<0,05). A variável diversidade apresentou correlação negativa com a temperatura, precipitação e umidade relativa do ar (r=-0,56; r=-0,86; r=-0,86 e p<0,05), indicando que houve influência direta destas variáveis na abundância e diversidade dos fungos do solo. Os parâmetros do solo (alumínio, acidez trocável, capacidade de troca de cátions, cálcio, magnésio, cálcio e magnésio, fósforo, pH, saturação por base e de alumínio) possuem relação direta com os fungos do solo.

Abstract Prescribed burning, with different objectives of management and handling, has been applied more frequently in protected areas. In order to understand the effect of fire, this work aimed to assess the abundance and diversity of fungal microorganisms in response to the use of fire and forest fires. Soil samples before and after burning were collected, with fungi isolated by the plating method, then quantified by counting the collony-forming units (CFU g-1) and identified at the gender level. The average CFU g-1 did not present a significant difference between the evaluated fire regimes, however, there was a significant difference (p<0.05) for diversity, and the two years of fires caused less gender diversity. The genders Aspergillus and Penicillium were present in all sampled areas, with higher CFU g-1 values, whereas genders Mucor and Rhizopus exhibited the lowest values. The average colony-forming unit (CFU g-1) and diversity before and after prescribed burning differed statistically (p < 0.05), while the average CFU g-1 had a reduction and diversity showed an increase after the passage of fire in all areas evaluated. The greatest reduction in the average CFU g-1 occurred for the month of July. Pearson’s correlation coefficient values obtained demonstrated a significant negative correlation between average CFU g-1, diversity and temperature (r = 0.70; r = -0.98 and p < 0.05). The diversity variable presented negative correlation with temperature, precipitation and relative humidity (r = -0.56; r = -0.86 and p < 0.05), thus indicating that there was a direct influence of these variables on the abundance and diversity of soil fungi. The soil parameters (aluminum, exchangeable acidity, cation EXCHANGE capacity, calcium and magnesium, phosphorus, pH, base and aluminum saturation) have a direct relation with the soil fungi.

Resumo A modificação da paisagem e a fragmentação do habitat tornaram-se grandes temas de pesquisa, uma vez que são consideradas ameaças graves para a biodiversidade. Considerando o histórico de perturbação da área do Parque Estadual do Jalapão (PEJ), dado sua característica de Unidade de Conservação (UC) de proteção integral inserida no bioma Cerrado, o objetivo desta pesquisa é atualizar o mapa de uso e cobertura do solo dessa UC e analisar as métricas que quantificam a conectividade do habitat e a fragmentação da ecologia da paisagem para o ano de 2015, tendo como base o mapa de uso e ocupação do solo do ano 2000. Para elaborar o mapa de uso do solo do PEJ de 2015, utilizou-se a cena 221/67 (órbita/ponto) de 8 de agosto de 2015 do satélite Landsat 8, sensor OLI, por abranger toda a área de estudo e por não ter cobertura de nuvens. No processamento digital das imagens foram realizadas a correção radiométrica, a pré-classificação e a associação das classes de uso do solo, e, posteriormente, classificação supervisionada por meio de interpretação visual. Para verificar a precisão do mapa foi calculado o coeficiente de Kappa, cujo valor foi de 0,92. A partir do mapa atualizado foram realizados os cálculos de índices de ecologia da paisagem referentes à área, tamanho, forma, borda e proximidade dos fragmentos. Os procedimentos foram realizados no software SIG ArcGIS 10.4 por meio da extensão gratuita Patch Analyst 5.2. Com base nos mapas de uso e cobertura do solo e nos índices de ecologia da paisagem, pode-se constatar que houve mudanças na paisagem. Quanto às métricas, conclui-se que a UC se encontra fragmentada, apresenta 564 fragmentos e possui alta heterogeneidade espacial e forma complexa e irregular em razão dos valores de MPS, PSCoV e MSI.

Abstract Landscape modification and habitat fragmentation have become major research topics. They are considered serious threats to biodiversity. The disturbance history of the area of Jalapão State Park (Parque Estadual do Jalapão - PEJ) was analysed given its characteristic as a Conservation Unit (CU) of integral protection inserted into the Cerrado biome. Thus, the objective of this research is to update the map of land use and cover of this CU and analyse the metrics that quantify habitat connectivity and fragmentation in the landscape ecologyfor 2015 based on the land use map for 2000. In order to plot the PEJ's 2015 map of land use, we used the scene 221/67 (orbit/point) of August 8, 2015, from the Landsat 8 satellite, OLI sensor, since it covered the entire study area and did not present cloud cover. In the digital image processing, radiometric correction, pre-classification, and association of classes of soil use were performed. Subsequently, a supervised classification was performed through visual interpretation. To verify map accuracy, the Kappa coefficient was calculated. Its value was 0.92. From the updated map, calculations of landscape ecology indexes were performed considering area, size, shape, border, and proximity of fragments. The procedures were performed using the software GIS ArcGIS 10.4 and the free extension Patch Analyst 5.2. Based on the maps of land use and cover, and indexes of landscape ecology, it is possible to verify that there were changes in the landscape. As for metrics, it can be concluded that the CU is fragmented (564 fragments) and has a high spatial heterogeneity, a complex form, and an irregular shape due to values of MPS, PSCoV and MSI.

RESUMO O objetivo do presente estudo foi comparar as estimativas do volume obtidas por equações de regressão com redes neurais artificiais (RNA) para áreas nativas sob plano de manejo na região de Portel, estado do Pará, a partir dos dados de cubagem rigorosa de 864 árvores com DAP ≥ 45 cm de Unidades de Produção Anual (UPA) manejada em 2015 em área de floresta ombrófila densa de terra firme. O processamento dos dados visou selecionar o melhor modelo de regressão considerando a UPA 1. A equação com melhor desempenho foi escolhida de acordo com a raiz do erro quadrado médio em porcentagem (RQME%), correlação de Pearson e gráfico de resíduos percentuais. Para a seleção da melhor rede e a sua respectiva comparação com a melhor equação de regressão ajustada, as estatísticas utilizadas foram: RQME%, correlação de Pearson entre o volume observado e estimado e bias. O modelo com melhor desempenho foi o Spurr sendo posteriormente comparada com a melhor RNA obtida a partir do treinamento dos dados. Verificou-se que ambos os métodos apresentaram estatísticas de ajuste e precisão aceitáveis, com potencial utilização para estimar o volume da espécie. No entanto, a RNA mostrou-se superior evidenciando maior precisão em relação à regressão na estimativa de volume.

ABSTRACT The objective of the present study was to compare the volume estimates obtained by regression equations with artificial neural networks (RNA) for native areas under management plan in the Portel region, state of Pará, from the rigorous cubing data of 864 trees with DBH ≥ 45 cm from Annual Production Units (UPA) managed in 2015 in an area of dense ombrophilous terra firme forest. The data processing aimed to select the best regression model considering the UPA 1. The best performing equation was chosen according to the root mean square error in percent (RQME%), Pearson correlation and percentage residual graph. For the selection of the best network and its comparison with the best adjusted regression equation, the statistics used were: RQME%, Pearson correlation between observed and estimated volume and bias. The best performing model was the Spurr, which was later compared with the best RNA obtained from data training. Both methods showed acceptable fit and precision statistics, with potential use to estimate the volume of the species. However, the RNA was higher showing higher precision in relation to the regression in volume estimation.

Resumo Este estudo teve como objetivo mapear chuvas intensas com durações de 10, 30, 720 e 1440 minutos, associadas aos tempos de retorno de 10, 50 e 100 anos, para o Estado do Tocantins. Foram aplicadas séries históricas de 95 postos pluviométricos localizados no Estado do Tocantins e proximidades, com período padronizado de 1983 a 2013. Foi conduzido um estudo geoestatístico, avaliando-se os modelos de semivariograma esférico, exponencial e gaussiano, ajustados pelo método dos mínimos quadrados ponderados. A partir deste estudo, o modelo que apresentou o menor erro médio com base na validação cruzada foi aplicado ao processo de mapeamento por krigagem ordinária. Houve bom desempenho das técnicas geoestatísticas, podendo-se destacar o modelo esférico para o mapeamento da precipitação máxima diária anual, e o modelo gaussiano para as chuvas calculadas pela metodologia de desagregação. Verificou-se ainda que as áreas de ocorrência das chuvas intensas de maior severidade no estado estão no Bico do Papagaio (norte), Ilha do Bananal (sudoeste) e noroeste do estado.

Abstract This study aimed to map heavy rainfall with durations of 10, 30, 720 and 1440 minutes, associated with return times of 10, 50 and 100 years for the Tocantins State. Historical series of 95 pluviometric stations located in the Tocantins State and nearby were applied, with standard period from 1983 to 2013. A geostatistical study was conducted, evaluating the spherical, exponential and gaussian semivariogram models, adjusted by the weighted least squares method. From this study, the model that presented the smallest average error based on cross-validation was applied to the mapping process by ordinary kriging. There was good performance of the geostatistical techniques, being possible to highlight the spherical model for the mapping of the annual maximum daily precipitation and the Gaussian model for the rains calculated by the methodology of disaggregation. It was also verified that the areas of intense rainfall of greater severity in the state are in the Bico do Papagaio (north), Bananal Island (southwest) and northwest of the state.

Abstract The Cerrado biome increasingly suffers from the environmental impacts of human action. Burning is known as an action used to destroy native vegetation and to clean areas mainly with the purpose of growing soybeans, corn, or raising cattle. In this study we aimed to investigate the influence of low-intensity burning on the chemical composition of a Red-Yellow Latosol in a region characterized as Cerrado sensu stricto. A total of 14 parcels of land were demarcated. In order to analyze the effects of fire on the soil chemical properties, soil samples were collected before and within 24 hours of the burning by means of the same methodology. An increase in organic matter and in the levels of Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, Mn2+, Zn2+, B+, S, as well in the ratios characterizing the soil (CECt, SB, Ca+/T, Ca+/Mg+, V, and Ca+/K+), was observed. Variables that determine the acidity of the soil, such as pH and H + Al, presented changes, although not significant (p > 0.05).

Resumo Existem poucos estudos relacionados ao impacto de queimadas sobre os fungos habitantes do solo presente no cerrado. Objetivou-se com este trabalho identificar a micoflora presente em amostras de solos, antes e após o processo de queimada em duas profundidades, observando a interferência deste processo na população de fungos habitantes do solo. As amostras foram coletadas em uma área, no município de Jaú do Tocantins, Estado do Tocantins. Foram instalados bioensaios em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições e cinco tratamentos, representados por diferentes concentrações de solução do solo. A identificação dos fungos foi feita, em nível de gênero, de acordo com suas estruturas morfológicas formadas em meio de cultura, através de observações em microscópio ótico. Na área antes da queimada, observou-se a presença de maior diversidade de gêneros e quantidade de colônias fúngicas. O contrário foi constatado na área posteriormente submetida à queimada, que apresentou menor número de colônias fúngicas. Dos gêneros identificados, destacaram-se Aspergillus, Penicillium, Cladosporium, Fusarium, Mucor, Pythium e Trichoderma, que apresentaram maior número de colônias em quantidades representativas. Observou-se ainda uma redução em torno de 45% na população de fungos antagonistas. Foi possível constatar que o uso do fogo na vegetação influenciou negativamente as populações microbianas presentes nas camadas mais superficiais do solo de cerrado.

Abstract There are few studies related to the impact of burnings on soil fungi present in the cerrado. The aim of this work was identifying the mycoflora in cerrado soil samples before and after burning process at two depths; observing the interference of this process in the fungi soil inhabitants population. The samples were collected in area, in the municipality of Jaú do Tocantins, State of Tocantins. Bioassays were installed in a completely randomized experimental design, with four replicates and five treatments, represented by different concentrations of soil solution. The identification of the fungi was made at the genus level according to their morphological structures formed in culture medium through optical microscope observations. In the before burning area we observed greatest diversity of genera and fungi colonies. The opposite was found in the area subsequently submitted to the burning process, showing minor fungal colonies. Among the genera identified, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Cladosporium, Fusarium, Mucor, Pythium and Trichoderma were the most representative colonies. We observed a reduction of 45% approximately in the population of antagonistic fungi. It was found that the use of fire in vegetation negatively influenced microbial populations present in the surface layers of cerrado soil.

RESUMO: A ferrugem, causada pelo fungo biotrófico Olivea neotectonae, destaca-se como uma doença importante nas plantações de teca no Brasil. Considerando a importância atual dessa ferrugem e a necessidade de obter informações básicas adicionais sobre seu agente causal para melhor manejo da doença, o presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar a morfologia da O. neotectonae utilizando microscopia de luz e demonstrar o processo de infecção em folhas de teca por meio de técnicas de microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV). As características morfológicas observadas em microscopia de luz foram semelhantes às descritas na literatura para essa espécie. A MEV revelou que as estruturas de infecção do patógeno penetraram na folha de teca através do complexo estomático. Este estudo fornece a primeira evidência microscópica do processo de infecção de Olivea neotectonae em folhas de plantas de teca.

ABSTRACT: Rust, caused by the biotrophic fungus Olivea neotectonae, stands out as an important disease in teak plantations in Brazil. Considering the current importance of this rust and the need to obtain additional basic information about its causal agent to better disease management, the present study aimed to analyze the morphology of O. neotectonae using light microscopy and demonstrate the infection process in teak leaves using scanning electron microscopy techniques (SEM). The morphological characteristics observed using light microscopy were similar to those described in the literature for this species. SEM revealed that the infection structures of the pathogen penetrated the teak leaf through the stomata complex. This study provides the first microscopic evidence of the infection process of Olivea neotectonae in leaves of teak plants.

ABSTRACT The state of Tocantins is inserted in the new Brazilian agricultural frontier and has shown enormous potential for expansion of the agricultural lands. However, there is a lack of more elaborate scientific information for better planning and guide agricultural activities, especially regarding the soil and water conservation. Tocantins has a relevant rainfall spatial variability and, consequently, rainfall erosivity. Thus, this work aimed to develop models to estimate the mean monthly and annual rainfall and means rainfall erosivity factor (R-factor) of the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) for the state of Tocantins. For that, 97 historical series of daily rainfall were studied, considering a standard period of 25 years (1985-2009). The fitting of the models adjustment datasets consists of 86 rain-gauges, out of which, 11 were randomly selected and used solely for model validation. Afterward, maps of these variables were generated based on the regression-kriging procedure. The fitted models presented precision statistical that allow characterizing them as “good quality”, with a coefficient of determination higher than 0.68 for rainfall models and 0.65 for the R-factor model, besides acceptable bias. Therefore, the application of the models can be successfully carried out, aiding the agricultural planning in the state of Tocantins.

ABSTRACT The swine industry has been presented strong growth and thus is producing large volumes of effluents that must be correctly management. Nitritation/denitritation process can be used to improve system performance, saving the energy cost with aeration and with the external source of carbon due to the lower C/N requirement. The aim of this study was to evaluate swine wastewater Nitrification/Denitrification (NDF) and Nitritation/denitritation (NDT) processes at different C/N ratios, using the Modified Ludzack-Ettinger (MLE) process, in order to obtain a system with efficient nitrogen removal and low oxygen and carbon consumption. Four phases were conducted during the experiment: Phase I) DO between 2.0-3.0 mg L−1 of O2 and C/N 1.5 (NDF); Phase II) DO between 0.6-0.7 mg L−1 of O2 and C/N 1.5 (NDT); Phase III) DO between 0.6-0.7 mg L−1 of O2, C / N ratios of1.5, 0.9, 0.75 and 0.6 (NDT); Phase IV) DO between 2.0-3.0 mg L−1 of O2, C/N ratios of 1.5, 0.9, 0.75, and 0.6 (NDF). The best operational condition was found in the C / N ratio of 0.9 (Phase III) obtaining an optimum N removal of 86.3%. In this condition, the system saved around 26.8% in total organic carbon consumption and operated at conditions of 74% lower dissolved oxygen when compared to conventional process for N-removal. This strategy can be very useful for nitrogen removal for low carbon swine wastewater as digestate from anaerobic processes.

RESUMO A produção de mudas de teca é realizada principalmente por sementes, que é um importante veículo de transmissão de diversos patógenos. Objetivou-se com este trabalho identificar e quantificar os fungos associados às sementes de teca, a patogenicidade desses microrganismos às mudas e a transmissibilidade semente-plântula. Para o teste de sanidade foram utilizadas sementes coletadas no estado do Tocantins e outras adquiridas nos estados do Goiás (GO) e São Paulo (SP). Os tratamentos utilizados foram sementes desinfestadas e não desinfestadas, e sementes com e sem mesocarpo. O ensaio foi conduzido utilizando o método do papel de filtro (Blotter test). Para o teste de patogenicidade em mudas, foram utilizados os isolados de Fusarium sp., Botryodiplodia sp., Alternaria sp. e Plenodomus sp. Para a avaliação da transmissão de fungos via semente-plântula foram utilizadas sementes de cada local. Foram identificados os seguintes gêneros de fungos nas sementes: Fusarium, Trichoderma, Botryodiplodia, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Rhizopus, Cladosporium, Alternaria e Plenodomus. Foi observada maior ocorrência de fungos nas sementes provenientes dos estados de GO e SP. Fusarium foi o gênero fúngico com maior incidência nas sementes dos três estados. Apenas os gêneros Fusarium e Botryodiplodia foram patogênicos às mudas de teca. Houve baixa transmissibilidade semente-plântula, sendo que apenas o gênero fitopatogênico Fusarium foi transmitido.

ABSTRACT The production of teak seedlings is mainly carried out by seeds, which is an important vehicle for the transmission of various pathogens. The purpose of this study was to identify and quantify the fungi associated with teak seeds, the pathogenicity of these microrganisms to the seedlings and the seed-seedling transmission. There were used seeds collected in Tocantins state and others acquired in the states of Goias (GO) and in São Paulo (SP) for the sanity test. The treatments used were seeds disinfested and not disinfested, and seeds with and without mesocarp. The analysis was conducted using the paper filter method (Blotter test). To pathogenicity test in seedlings, were utilized the isolates of Fusarium sp., Botryodiplodia sp., Alternaria sp. and Plenodomus sp. To evaluate the fungal seedling-transmission were used seeds of each location.The following genera of fungi were identified in the seeds: Fusarium, Trichoderma, Botryodiplodia, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Rhizopus, Cladosporium, Alternaria and Plenodomus. A higher occurrence of fungi was observed in the seeds from the states of GO and SP. Fusarium was the fungal genera with the highest incidence in the seeds of the three states. Only the Fusarium and Botryodiplodia genera were pathogenic to teak seedlings. There was low seed-seedling transmission, with only the phytopathogenic genus Fusarium being transmitted.

RESUMO Para o dimensionamento da estrutura hidráulicas do Brasil, é necessário a obtenção de dados de chuvas intensas de curta duração a partir de séries históricas de chuva diária. Esta situação recorrente pode ser atendida pela metodologia de desagregação de chuvas. Objetivou-se neste trabalho determinar constantes de desagregação de chuvas intensas para o Estado do Tocantins e proceder a comparação destas constantes com aquelas obtidas para outras regiões do Brasil. Para a modelagem da frequência das chuvas intensas de diferentes durações, foi empregada a distribuição de probabilidades Gumbel, tendo sido utilizadas séries pluviográficas de 10 localidades do estado do Tocantins. Os resultados mostraram que a distribuição de probabilidades Gumbel foi considerada adequada pelos testes Kolmogorov-Smirnov e Qui-quadrado. Observou-se que as constantes de desagregação apresentaram valores praticamente invariáveis para tempos de retorno entre 10 e 100 anos, tendo sido obtidas as seguintes constantes médias para o estado do Tocantins: h12h/h24h=0,93, h6h/h24h=0,86, h4h/h24h=0,82, h3h/h24h=0,78, h2h/h24h=0,72, h1h/h24h=0,61, h50min/h1h=0,92, h40min/h1h=0,83, h30min/h1h=0,68, h20min/h30min=0,76 e h10min/h30min=0,46. A comparação dos resultados com os de estudos desenvolvidos para outras regiões brasileiras mostrou variações de até -62,30%, permitindo se concluir que a utilização de constantes locais é importante no procedimento de desagregação de chuvas.

ABSTRACT In order to design effective Brazilian hydraulic structures, it is necessary to obtain data relating to short-duration intense rainfall from historical series of daily rainfall. This recurring need can be fulfilled by rainfall disaggregation methodology. The objective of this study was to determine the intense rainfall disaggregation constants for the State of Tocantins and to compare these constants with those obtained for other regions of Brazil. For the modeling of the frequency of intense rainfall of different durations of less than 24 hours, the Gumbel probability distribution (GPD) was employed using rainfall series from 10 locations in Tocantins state. The results showed that the GPD was adequate by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Chi-square tests. The disaggregation constants presented low variability values for different return periods (from 10 to 100 years); the values for Tocantins state are: h12h/h24h=0.93, h6h/h24h=0.86, h4h/h24h=0.82, h3h/h24h=0.78, h2h/h24h=0.72, h1h/h24h=0.61, h50min/h1h=0.92, h40min/h1h=0.83, h30min/h1h=0.68, h20min/h30min=0.76 e h10min/h30min=0.46. The comparison of the results with those from studies developed for other Brazilian regions showed variations of up to -62.30%, allowing us to conclude that the use of local constants is important in the process of rainfall disaggregation.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar os valores de erosividade e gerar os mapas da distribuição espaço-temporal das chuvas no Estado do Tocantins. Analisaram-se séries históricas pluviométricas de 97 postos pluviométricos, compreendendo o período de 1985 a 2009. A erosividade foi estimada por meio de equações nas quais a variável independente foi a precipitação média mensal ou o coeficiente de chuva de Fournier (Rc). A geoestatística foi aplicada para o mapeamento da erosividade tanto na escala mensal quanto na anual. A erosividade anual apresentou valores entre 6.599 e 14.000 MJ mm ha-1 h-1, com auge em dezembro, quando atingiu valores de até 2.800 MJ mm ha-1 h-1 por mês. De maio a setembro, a erosividade apresentou valores inferiores ao crítico, tido como 500 MJ mm ha-1 h-1 por mês. Foram identificadas três regiões prioritárias para ações de planejamento visando a conservação do solo e da água: região centro-oeste do Estado, nas imediações do Parque Estadual do Cantão, com maior erosividade anual; região norte do Estado, especialmente no primeiro trimestre; e região sudeste do Estado, no quarto trimestre.

The objective of this work was to determine rainfall erosivity values and to generate its spatial-temporal distribution maps in the state of Tocantins, Brazil. Pluviometric historical series from 97 rain gauges were analyzed, covering the period from 1985 to 2009. Erosivity was estimated by equations in which the independent variable was the average monthly rainfall or the Fournier rainfall index (Rc). Geostatistics was applied for mapping erosivity both monthly and annually. Annual erosivity values varied between 6,599 and 14,000 MJ mm ha-1h-1, with peak in December when it reached values up to 2,800 MJ mm ha-1 h-1 per month. From May to September, erosivity values had lower than the critical one, considered 500 MJ mm ha-1 h-1per month. Three priority regions were identified for soil and water conservation planning activities: mid-west region of the state, in the neighborhood of Cantão State Park, with greatest erosivity; northern region of the state, especially during the first quarter of the year; and southern region of the state, in the fourth quarter.

Espécies de leguminosas pertencentes ao gênero Lupinus são plantas herbáceas anuais. A maioria é originária das Américas. Estas plantas estabelecem simbioses com bactérias do solo que realizam fixação biológica de nitrogênio coletivamente chamada de rizóbios. Caracterizou-se uma estirpe isolada de Lupinus albescens por meio de características fenotípicas, simbióticas e moleculares. A estirpe UFSM LA 1.3 foi testada in vitro de acordo com os parâmetros: tamanho de colônia; cor e taxa de crescimento; reação ácida ou básica em meio levedura manitol suplementado com azul de bromotimol; produção de goma. A caracterização molecular foi feita pela técnica de PCR usando os oligonucleotídeos BOX A1-R e seqüenciamento da região ITS. A análise da seqüência dos fragmentos da região intergênica (ITS) 16S-26S rDNA mostrou similaridade genética com Bradyrhizobium sp. O polimorfismo observado por BOX-PCR demonstrou que a estirpe difere das estirpes referência SEMIA 928 e SEMIA 938. A eficiência simbiótica de UFSM LA 1.3 foi de 94,6%, sem diferenças estatísticas comparada com o controle com fertilizante nitrogenado mineral que recebeu 400 mg de nitrato de amônio.

Legume species belonging to the genus Lupinus are annual herb plants. The majority of them are indigenous to the Americas. They are known for nitrogen-fixing symbioses with soil bacteria collectively called rhizobia. The aim of this study was to characterize a rhizobium strain isolated from Lupinus albescens using phenotypic, symbiotic and molecular approaches. Strain UFSM LA 1.3 was tested in vitro according to several parameters: colony size, color and growing rate; acid or alkaline reaction in yeast mannitol media supplemented with bromothymol blue; gum production. Molecular characterization was evaluated by PCR technique using primers BOX A1-R and sequence analysis of the 16S-23S rDNA intergenic region (ITS). ITS sequencing fragments showed genetic similarity with Bradyrhizobium sp. The polymorphism observed by BOX-PCR have shown that strain differs from the reference strain SEMIA 928 and SEMIA 938. The symbiotic efficiency under axenic conditions of UFSM LA 1.3 was 94.6%, without statistical differences compared to the mineral nitrogen fertilized control, to which was applied solution of 400 mg of ammonium nitrate.
