Riassunto: L’uomo ha sempre riflettuto su se stesso e sulla sua identità e la sua riflessione si è strutturata attraverso molteplici forme espressive. Le domande esistenziali nascono nell’uomo con il suo esistere. Il pensiero filosofico occidentale ha egemonizzato il campo filosofico e antropologico imponendo le proprie categorlie di pensiero come le uniche razionali e scientifiche in nome di una presunta superiorità legata a un’idea di sviluppo fondata su un modello prettamente economico. In questo articolo si cercherà di decostruire le certezze scientifiche del pensiero filosofico occidentale e analizzare criticamente il suo primato evidenziando come esistano diverse forme e rappresentazioni dell’esistenza umana. Il pensiero filosofico africano ci offre una prospettiva di lettura dell’essere che contrasta con la visione antropologica occidentale, ma allo stesso tempo ha una sua dignità e coerenza logica fondata su presupposti antropologici propri. Nata come resistenza al dominio del pensiero filosofico e antropologico occidentale, la filosofia africana si è sviluppata e contaminata dalle riflessioni che l’hanno preceduta. Non esiste un pensiero puro, poiché tutte le riflessioni umane sono ibride e nascono dall’incontro e dallo scontro con le altre posizioni filosofiche. Forse è venuto il tempo per riformulare il pensiero filosofico e antropologico da un punto di vista interculturale.

Abstract: Man has always reflected on himself and his identity. His reflection has been structured through multiple forms of expression. In fact, existential questions arise in man with his existence. Western philosophical thought has dominated the philosophical and anthropological field by imposing its own categories of thought as the only rational and scientific ones, in the name of an alleged superiority linked to an idea of development based on a purely economic model. This article attempts to deconstruct the scientific c certainties of Western philosophical thought and critically analyzes its primacy by highlighting how there are different forms and representations of human existence. African philosophical thought offers a perspective that contrasts with the Western anthropological vision, having its dignity and its logical coherence based on its own anthropological assumptions. Born as resistance to the domination of Western philosophical and anthropological thought, African philosophy has developed and has been contaminated by the reflections that preceded it. All human reflections are hybrid and arise from the encounter and confrontation with other philosophical positions. Perhaps the time has come to reformulate philosophical and anthropological thought from an intercultural point of view.

Ao perceber, no autorretrato como um homem afogado, de Bayard, certa semelhança entre a pose corporal de sua fotografia e de outras produções visuais engendradas ao longo da história ocidental, estruturou-se um painel com 27 imagens baseado no conceito warburguiano de Pathosformeln para discutir as transformações diante da confrontação com a morte na sociedade ocidental, estudadas por Huizinga, Ariès e Morin. Por outro lado, a análise de Poivert sobre as relações dessa fotografia com o teatro, a biografia de Chatterton e a pintura da morte do poeta possibilitou pensar as noções de jogo, de ritual e de performatividade, presentes em Schechner; o caráter forjado da poesia chattertoniana, discutido por Groom; e a forte simulação desse afogado a partir de Baudrillard.

Upon realizing a resemblance between the body´s pose in the photographic self-portrait of Bayard as a drowned man and other visual productions made throughout Western history, a twenty-seven-image panel guided by the Warburguian notion of Pathosformeln was elaborated to discuss the transformations of Western society in confronting death, studied by Huizinga, Ariès and Morin. On the other hand, Poivert´s analysis on the relation of this photography with theater, the Chatterton biography, and the painting of the poet´s death has made it possible to think about the notions of play, ritual and performativity, present in Schechner; the forged character of Chattertonian poetry, discussed by Groom; and the strong simulation of this drowned man, based on Baudrillard´s thought.

Percibiendo, en el auto-retrato de Bayard cómo un hombre ahogado, una semejanza entre la pose corporal en la fotografía y producciones de la historia occidental, fue estructurado un panel con 27 imágenes basado en el concepto warburguiano de Pathosformeln con fines a discutir los cambios en la confrontación de la muerte en la sociedad occidental, estudiados por Huizinga, Ariès y Morin. Además, el análisis de Poivert de las relaciones de Bayard con el teatro, la biografía de Chatterton y la pintura de su muerte ha posibilitado reflejar acerca del juego, lo ritual y la performatividad, presentes en Schechner; del carácter forjado de la poesía chattertoniana, discutido por Groom; y de la simulación de eso ahogado, a partir de Baudrillard.

Resumo Toxoplasma gondii apresenta alta prevalência mundial, capaz de infectar diversos animais. Felinos são considerados os hospedeiros definitivos e entre os hospedeiros intermediários destacamos os mamíferos e as aves. O homem pode se infectar ingerindo cistos teciduais presentes na carne das aves e mamíferos. O conhecimento dos aspectos biológicos e moleculares do parasito possibilitam melhor entendimento da epidemiologia da toxoplasmose. Neste trabalho foi realizada triagem sorológica por hemaglutinação indireta (HI) em 58 galinhas caipiras (Gallus gallus domesticus) utilizadas para consumo humano, provenientes do estado do Espírito Santo, Brasil. Treze galinhas apresentaram sorologia positiva para T. gondii. O coração e o cérebro de cinco galinhas positivas foram colhidos, tratados com pepsina e inoculados separadamente, em dois camundongos Swiss, por via intraperitoneal. Observou-se taquizoítos no peritônio de todos os camundongos, entre sete e 10 dias após o inóculo. Foram obtidos 10 novos isolados de T. gondii os quais foram estudados em camundongos BALB/C inoculados com 101 a 104 taquizoítos por animal. Todos os isolados foram considerados virulentos ou de virulência intermediária. A caracterização molecular dos isolados, realizada por PCR-RFLP, demonstrou a ocorrência de três genótipos distintos. Nenhum isolado apresentou genótipo clonal ou linhagem clonal do Brasil. Não foi observada diferença molecular (PCR-RFLP) entre os isolados obtidos a partir do cérebro ou do coração da mesma ave. Dois isolados já haviam sido relatados na literatura como causadores de doenças em humanos.

Abstract Toxoplasma gondii presents a high prevalence worldwide, infecting several animals. Felines are considered the definitive hosts and among the intermediate hosts we highlight mammals and birds. The man can become infected by ingesting tissue cysts present in birds and mammals. Biological and molecular aspects of T. gondii allows a better understanding of the epidemiology of toxoplasmosis. This work is a serologic screening of 58 chickens grown (Gallus gallus domesticus) for human consumption in Espírito Santo State, by means of indirect haemagglutination assay (IHA). Thirteen chickens tested positive for anti-T. gondii antibodies. The heart and brain of five positive chickens were harvested, treated with pepsin and inoculated separately, in two Swiss mice, intraperitoneally. Tachyzoites were observed in the peritoneum of all the animals, between seven and 10 days after the inoculum. Ten isolates were obtained and biologically characterised in BALB/c mice inoculated with 101 to 104 tachyzoites. All isolates were classified as virulent or intermediately virulent. Isolates were genotyped by means of polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis, revealing three different genotypes. None of the isolates exhibited the clonal type I, II or III genotype. No genotypic differences were observed between the isolates from the brain or heart from the same bird.

The guidelines of the Brazilian National Health System (SUS) state that the municipal authorities are responsible for the vaccination of the population. The present study examined the types of immunobiologicals, amounts and reasons for their destruction and disposal by the Municipal Health Secretariat in the city of Bauru, São Paulo state, Brazil, between 2008 and 2009. This study comprises a descriptive, exploratory and retrospective work that employed search of bibliographic data, collection of secondary data from forms of immunobiologicals disposal and interview of the agent responsible for the disposal of these products in the municipality. It was observed that the total numbers of unused vaccines in 2008 and 2009 were similar (4523 and 4395, respectively), being the most discarded: the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTP) vaccine in 2008 and DTP, BCG and influenza in 2009. It was found that the amount of discarded vaccines could be reduced since the reasons for that were predictable. Moreover, the current study emphasized that although there is a municipal regulation for the disposal of immunobiologicals, the city still requires a better structure to handle such problem.

Venous ulcers of the lower limbs complicated by infection or chronicity represent a serious public health problem. The elevated number of those afflicted burdens the health services, interferes in quality of life and causes absenteeism. Although there are 2,500 items on the market, ranging from the simplest dressing up to the most complex types of dressing, treatment remains a challenge. Among the substances used, fibrin sealant is the one that promotes diminution of bacterial colonization and of edema, controls hemorrhaging, alters the pain threshold by protecting the nerve endings, hydrates the wound bed and forms granulation tissue that favors healing. Its disadvantages include higher cost and utilization of human fibrinogen that can transmit infectious diseases. The Center for the Study of Venoms and Venomous Animals (CEVAP) at São Paulo State University (UNESP) developed a new sealant made up of fibrinogen extracted from large animals and from an enzyme obtained from snake venom. The present study, developed in the Health Education Clinic (CEPS) of Sacred Heart University (USC) aimed to evaluate the effect of the new sealant on the healing process of venous ulcers in 24 adult patients, seven of whom were male and 17 female. Two study groups were formed as follows: Group 1 (G1) - control group of 11 patients treated with essential fatty acid (EFA) and Unna's boot, and Group 2 (G2) - 13 patients treated with essential fatty acid (EFA), fibrin sealant and Unna's boot. The follow-up lasted eight weeks and the sealant was applied at only the first and fourth weeks. The results showed that Group 2 presented worse lesion conditions as to healing, but, when comparing the two groups, it was noteworthy that the the sealant was effective in healing venous ulcers. There is evidence that the new sealant is recommended for leg ulcers with the following advantages: ease of application, preparation of the wound bed, diminution of pain and a higher number of discharges in the eighth week. More important, other positive characteristics are non-transmission of infectious diseases, absence of adverse reactions, and economic advantage of being produced by Brazilian technology. Finally, it is suggested that the weekly application of sealant, for at least eight weeks, could improve the healing process and consequently life quality.

The immune response to Echinococcus granulosus in sheep has not been extensively investigated. The objective of this study was to increase the information on the physiopathology of E. granulosus and the immune response elicited in sheep. Animals were experimentally inoculated with three different doses of E. granulosus eggs and the immune response was evaluated over 500 days using enzyme immunoassay with three antigenic preparations: total hydatid fluid, purified fraction of hydatid fluid and purified lipoprotein fraction. Sheep were slaughtered at different intervals to observe the macroscopic and microscopic development of the parasite. Immune response was detected at 10 days and was maintained throughout the observation period, being initially proportional to the load of inoculated eggs and then decreasing over time. Fertile cysts were identified 10 months after inoculation and live onchosphere 500 days after inoculation. Antibody response to E. granulosus in sheep preceded hydatid fluid formation and was generated by the mobility of the onchosphere. Early histological identification of fertile cysts indicates that feeding dogs with viscera of young sheep can produce cycles of infection. Furthermore, the presence of live onchosphere in the liver here found contributes to a better knowledge of the pathogenesis of this disease it could be hypothetically considered as a cause for the repeated surgeries necessary in man after the extirpation of a hydatid cyst.

La respuesta inmune a la infección por Echinococcus granulosus en el ovino ha sido poco estudiada. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue aportar información sobre la fisiopatología y la respuesta inmune a la infección experimental con E. granulosus en ovinos. Se inocularon experimentalmente ovinos con tres dosis distintas de huevos de E. granulosus, evaluándose la repuesta inmune por seguimiento mediante enzimo inmuno ensayo con tres preparaciones antigénicas (líquido hidatídico total, fracción purificada de líquido hidatídico total y fracción lipoproteica purificada) durante 500 días. Se sacrificaron animales en forma escalonada para observar macroscópica y microscópicamente el desarrollo del parásito. La respuesta inmune se detectó a partir de los 10 días y se mantuvo durante el período de observación, resultando inicialmente proporcional a la carga de huevos inoculados, y disminuyendo las diferencias con el tiempo. Se identificaron quistes fértiles a los 10 meses post inoculación y oncósferas vivas 500 días post inoculación. La respuesta de anticuerpos en el ovino a la infección por E. granulosus fue anterior a la formación de líquido hidatídico y resultó generada por la movilidad de la oncósfera. La temprana fertilidad identificada histológicamente indica que la alimentación de canes con vísceras de ovinos jóvenes puede producir ciclos de infección. La presencia de oncósferas vivas en el hígado, por su parte, aporta información sobre la patogenia de la enfermedad y permite expresar hipótesis sobre las causas de nuevas operaciones en el hombre luego de la extirpación de un quiste hidatídico lo que podría liberar el freno inmunitario sobre dichas oncósferas.
