ABSTRACT Introducción: Anti-C1q autoantibodies have been proposed as useful marker in systemic lupus erythematosus due to their association with lupus nephritis. Objective: To determine the prevalence of anti-C1q in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and other rheumatic diseases to evaluate the association with lupus nephropathy. Methods: One hundred seventy-nine patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and 82 with other rheumatic diseases were included. Lupus nephritis was diagnosed in 70 (39%) of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Anti-C1q IgG antibodies were determined by ELISA. Associations were evaluated by logistic regression analysis. Results: The prevalence of anti-C1q was 37% (66/179) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and 9% (7/82) in controls (OR = 6.3; 95% CI 2.8-14). .1; p < 0.001). Anti-C1q was associated with proteinuria (OR = 2.6; 95% CI 1.2-6.0; p < 0.022); elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (OR = 3.2; 95% CI 1.5-6.7; p < 0.003) and anti-dsDNA (OR = 3.9; 95% CI 1.7-9.1; p < 0.002). In the logistic regression model adjusted for demographics and anti-dsDNA, although the OR of anti-C1q for nephritis was 2-fold higher than in the absence of anti-C1q, it only approached statistical significance. Simultaneous positivity of anti-C1q and anti-dsDNA was associated with lupus nephritis (OR = 4.3; 95% CI 1.9-9.5; p < 0.001). Conclusions: Anti-C1q occurred more frequently in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus than in controls. Anti-C1q combined with anti-dsDNA was strongly associated with lupus nephritis.

RESUMEN Introducción: Los autoanticuerpos anti-C1q han sido propuestos como un marcador útil en el lupus eritematoso sistémico por su asociación con la nefritis lúpica. Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia de anti-C1q en pacientes con lupus eritematoso sistémico y otras enfermedades reumáticas para la evaluar la asociación con la nefropatía lúpica. Métodos: Se incluyeron 179 pacientes con lupus eritematoso sistémico y 82 con otras enfermedades reumáticas. La nefritis lúpica fue diagnosticada en 70 (39 %) de los pacientes con lupus eritematoso sistémico. Los anticuerpos anti-C1q IgG se determinaron por ELISA. Las asociaciones se evaluaron por análisis de regresión logística. Resultados: La prevalencia de anti-C1q fue de 37 % (66/179) en los pacientes con lupus eritematoso sistémico y de 9 % (7/82) en controles (OR = 6,3; IC 95 % 2,8-14,1; p < 0,001). El anti-C1q fue asociado con proteinuria (OR = 2,6; IC 95 % 1,2-6,0; p < 0,022); eritrosedimentación elevada (OR = 3,2; IC 95 % 1,5-6,7; p < 0,003) y anti-DNAdc (OR = 3,9; IC 95 % 1,7-9,1; p < 0,002). En el modelo de regresión logística ajustado para demografía y anti-DNAdc, aunque la OR del anti-C1q para la nefritis fue 2 veces más alta que en ausencia del anti-C1q, solo se aproximó a la significación estadística. La positividad simultánea de anti-C1q y anti-DNAdc estuvo asociada a la nefritis lúpica (OR = 4,3; IC 95 % 1,9-9,5; p < 0,001). Conclusiones: El anti-C1q se presentó con mayor frecuencia en pacientes con lupus eritematoso sistémico que en los controles. El anti-C1q combinado con anti-DNAdc resultó fuertemente asociado a la nefritis lúpica.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of three frequently drugs used in the control of nematodes in guinea pigs at the Baños del Inca Experimental Station of the National Institute of Agricultural Innovation (INIA), Cajamarca. Forty male guinea pigs of the Inka line between 2 to 3 months of age, positive for Trichuris spp and Paraspidodera uncinata, naturally infected, and reared within the same management and feeding system were used. The guinea pigs were homogeneously distributed according to the number of eggs per gram of faeces in 20 positive for Paraspidodera uncinata and 20 for Trichuris spp, distributed in four groups of five each. The treatments were T0: control group, not dosed; T1: fenbendazole 20 mg/kg, PO; T2: oxfendazole 20 mg/kg, PO; and T3: ivermectin 0.5 mg/kg, SQ. The evaluation was carried out by necropsy on day 10 of dosing using the the Randomized Controlled Trial. An efficacy of 100% was determined for fenbendazole and oxfendazole against Trichuris spp and P. uncinata, while ivermectin was 91% effective against P. uncinata and 68% against Trichuris spp. It is concluded that, in INIA-Cajamarca guinea pigs, P. uncinata and Trichuris spp were susceptible to fenbendazole and oxfendazole, and resistant to ivermectin.

RESUMEN El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la eficacia de tres principios activos de uso frecuente en el control de nematodos en cuyes de la Estación Experimental Baños del Inca del Instituto Nacional de Innovación Agropecuaria (INIA), Cajamarca. Se utilizaron 40 cuyes machos de la línea Inka de entre 2 a 3 meses de edad, positivos a Trichuris spp y Paraspidodera uncinata, infectados naturalmente, y criados dentro de un mismo sistema de manejo y alimentación. Los cuyes fueron distribuidos homogéneamente según el número de huevos por gramo de heces en 20 positivos a Paraspidodera uncinata y20 a Trichuris spp, distribuidos en cuatro grupos de cinco cada uno. Los tratamientos fueron T0: grupo control, no dosificado; T1: fenbendazol 20 mg/kg, PO; T2: oxfendazol 20 mg/kg, PO; y T3: ivermectina 0.5 mg/kg, SQ. La evaluación se realizó mediante necropsia al día 10 de la dosificación mediante el Test de Ensayo Controlado. Se determinó una eficacia de 100% para fenbendazol y oxfendazol frente a Trichuris spp y P. uncinata, en tanto que ivermectina fue 91% eficaz frente a P. uncinata y 68% contra Trichuris spp. Se concluye que, en cuyes del INIA-Cajamarca, P. uncinata y Trichuris spp fueron susceptibles a fenbendazol y oxfendazol, y resistentes a ivermectina.

Resumen Objetivo: determinar los desenlaces renales de los pacientes con requerimiento de diálisis por lesión renal aguda, que ingresaron a la unidad de cuidado intensivo del Hospital Departamental Universitario Santa Sofía de Caldas desde el año 2006 a 2018 y determinar los factores asociados a estos desenlaces. Métodos: estudio retrospectivo de cohortes llevado a cabo en el Hospital Departamental Universitario Santa Sofía de Caldas en 122 pacientes mayores de 18 años, que requirieron diálisis por lesión renal aguda en la unidad de cuidado intensivo entre los años 2006 y 2018. Se evaluó el desenlace compuesto del MAKE (Major Adverse Kidney Events) conformado por recuperación parcial de la función renal, dependencia de la diálisis y muerte con seguimiento a los 90 días y un año. Resultados: existe asociación entre diabetes, puntaje APACHE II, acidosis metabólica, anuria y tiempo de inicio de la diálisis con el MAKE a 90 días y al año. En la regresión logística aquellos pacientes que desarrollaron MAKE a los 90 días tenían mayor probabilidad de haber presentado anuria (OR=6.71; IC95%: 1497-30 076), acidosis (OR=4349; IC95%: 1616-11.7) e inicio tardío de la terapia (OR=3013; IC95%: 1241-7316). En el MAKE a un año hubo resultados similares, adicionando modalidad de terapia continua (OR=2841; IC95%: 1193-6763). Conclusiones: diabetes, APACHE II alto, anuria, acidosis metabólica y terapia dialítica tardía son más frecuentes en pacientes que desarrollan MAKE. (Acta Med Colomb 2022; 47. Abstract Objective: to establish the renal outcomes of patients needing dialysis due to acute kidney injury who were admitted to the intensive care unit at Hospital Departamental Universitario Santa Sofía de Caldas from 2006 to 2018, and determine the factors associated with these outcomes. Methods: a retrospective cohort study carried out at Hospital Departamental Universitario Santa Sofía de Caldas on 122 patients over the age of 18 who required dialysis in the intensive care unit due to acute kidney injury, from 2006 to 2018. The major adverse kidney events (MAKE) composite outcome was evaluated, composed of partial recovery of kidney function, dialysis dependence and death, with 90-day and one-year follow up. Results: there is a relationship between diabetes, the APACHE II score, metabolic acidosis, anuria and the dialysis start time and MAKE at 90 days and one year. In the logistic regression, patients who developed MAKE at 90 days had a greater probability of having had anuria (OR=6.71; 95%CI: 1,497-30,076), acidosis (OR=4,349; 95%CI: 1,616-11.7) and a late treatment start (OR=3,013; 95%CI: 1,241-7,316). The one-year MAKE showed similar results, with the addition of the continu ous therapy modality (OR=2,841; 95%CI: 1,193-6,763). Conclusions: diabetes, a high APACHE II, anuria, metabolic acidosis and late dialysis treat ment are more frequent in patients who develop MAKE. (Acta Med Colomb 2022; 47. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the yield, growth rate, plant height and crude protein, ash and neutral detergent fiber contents in six genotypes of Medicago sativa L. and on two high Andean plateaus of northern Peru. Materials and Methods: A complete randomized block design was used. The M. sativa varieties (SW10, W450, HORTUS 401, W350, SW8210 and STAMINO 5) were considered the treatments, distributed in three blocks, repeated in the two localities, with a total of 36 experimental units. The chemical composition, green forage and dry matter yield, growth rate and plant height in the six genotypes and their interaction, were evaluated. The analysis of the productive indicators was done through variance analysis. In addition, Pearson’s correlation tests were carried out to find relation between plant height and biomass yield. Results: The altitudinal plateau I achieved 10 241,8 kg/ha/cut of green forage and 61 450,6 kg/ha/year, 1 739,9 kg/ha/cut and 10 498 kg/ha/year of dry matter, with the best production. The variety W-450 had higher average green forage yield (56 963 kg/ha/year) and dry matter (10 483,9 kg/ha/year). Plant height varied from 22,4 to 35,5 cm and crude protein from 16,7 to 21,2 %. The ash records were from 9,3 to 12,0 % and neutral detergent fiber from 24,2 to 32,5 %. Conclusions: All the varieties showed high potential for forage production under the conditions of both altitudinal plateaus. Likewise, the environmental conditions were determinant in the performance of the different genotypes.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Evaluar el rendimiento, la tasa de crecimiento, la altura de la planta y los contenidos de proteína bruta, ceniza y fibra detergente neutro en seis genotipos de Medicago sativa L. en dos pisos altoandinos de los Andes del norte del Perú. Materiales y Métodos: Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completamente al azar. Se consideraron las variedades de M. sativa (SW10, W450, HORTUS 401, W350, SW8210 y STAMINO 5) como los tratamientos, distribuidos en tres bloques, repetidos en las dos localidades, con un total de 36 unidades experimentales. Se evaluó la composición química, el rendimiento de forraje verde y materia seca, la tasa de crecimiento y la altura de la planta en los seis genotipos y su interacción. El análisis de los indicadores productivos se realizó mediante un análisis de varianza. Además, se realizaron pruebas de correlación de Pearson para determinar la relación entre la altura de la planta y el rendimiento de biomasa. Resultados: El piso altitudinal I logró 10 241,8 kg/ha/corte de forraje verde y 61 450,6 kg/ha/año, 1 739,9 kg/ha/corte y 10 498 kg/ha/año de materia seca, con la mejor producción. La variedad W-450 tuvo mayor rendimiento promedio de forraje verde (56 963 kg/ha/año) y de materia seca (10 483,9 kg/ha/año). La altura de la planta varió de 22,4 a 35,5 cm y la proteína bruta de 16,7 a 21,2 %. Los registros de ceniza fueron de 9,3 a 12,0 % y la fibra detergente neutro de 24,2 a 32,5 %. Conclusiones: Todas las variedades mostraron alto potencial para la producción de forraje en las condiciones de ambos pisos altitudinales. Asimismo, las condiciones ambientales fueron determinantes en el desempeño de los diferentes genotipos.

ABSTRACT Objective: To determine the incidence and the clinical, bacteriological and cerebrospinal fluid characteristics of neonatal meningitis in Lima hospitals. Materials and methods: An observational, multicenter study was conducted in six hospitals in the city of Lima during 1 year of epidemiological surveillance. Results: The cumulative hospital incidence was 1.4 cases per 1000 live births. A total of 53 cases of neonatal meningitis were included, 34% (18/53) were early and 66% (35/53) late. The associated maternal factors were meconium-stained amniotic fluid and urinary tract infection. Insufficient prenatal check-ups were found in 58.8% (30/51). The most associated neonatal factor was sepsis. The main symptoms were fever, irritability, hypoactivity and respiratory distress. Pleocytosis in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was significant, without predominance of polymorphonuclear lymphocytes (PMN), hypoglycorrhagia and proteinorrhagia. The most frequent pathogens isolated were Escherichia coli and Listeria monocytogenes. Conclusions: The hospital incidence of neonatal meningitis was 1.4 per 1000 live births, being ten times higher in preterm infants. Breathing difficulty was the most frequent symptom in the early stage, while fever and irritability in the late stage. CSF showed pleocytosis without predominance of PMN. The most frequent germs were Escherichia coli and Listeria monocytogenes. Ventriculitis and hydrocephalus were the most common neurological complications.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Determinar la incidencia y las características clínicas, bacteriológicas y del líquido cefalorraquídeo de la meningitis neonatal en hospitales de Lima. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó un estudio observacional, multicéntrico en seis hospitales de la ciudad de Lima, con una vigilancia epidemiológica durante un año. Resultados: La incidencia acumulada hospitalaria fue de 1,4 casos por mil nacidos vivos. Fueron incluidos 53 casos de meningitis neonatal, 34% (18/53) fueron tempranos y 66% (35/53) tardíos. Los factores maternos asociados fueron líquido amniótico meconial e infección de tracto urinario. El 58,8% (30/51) presentó controles prenatales insuficientes. El factor neonatal más asociado fue sepsis. Los principales síntomas fueron fiebre, irritabilidad, hipoactividad y dificultad respiratoria. En el líquido cefalorraquídeo (LCR) se destacó la pleocitosis, sin predominio de polimorfonucleares (PMN), hipoglucorraquia y proteinorraquia. Los patógenos aislados con mayor frecuencia fueron Escherichia coli y Listeria monocytogenes. Conclusiones: La incidencia hospitalaria de meningitis neonatal fue de 1,4 por mil nacidos vivos, siendo diez veces mayor en prematuros. La dificultad respiratoria fue el síntoma más frecuente en la forma temprana, mientras que la fiebre e irritabilidad en la forma tardía. El LCR mostró pleocitosis sin predominio de PMN. Los gérmenes más frecuentes fueron Escherichia coli y Listeria monocytogenes. La ventriculitis e hidrocefalia fueron las complicaciones neurológicas más comunes.
