Abstract The objective was to evaluate the nematocidal effect of four hydroalcoholic extracts (HAE) of Brosimum alicastrum (HAE-Ba), Guazuma ulmifolia (HAE-Gu), Erythrina americana (HAE-Ea) and Leucaena leucocephala (HAE-Ll) against Haemonchus contortus. The tests of egg hatching inhibition (EHI) and larval (infective larvae) mortality were used. The treatments were HAEs at concentrations of 6.25-50 mg/mL for EHI and 25-100 mg/mL for larval mortality, ivermectin (5 mg/mL, positive control) and distilled water (negative control). Data were analyzed using an ANOVA and treatments with a concentration-dependent effect were subjected to a regression analysis to determine lethal concentrations (LC50 and LC90). In addition, a phytochemical analysis was performed on the extracts to identify the presence of the main secondary metabolites. The best ovicidal and larvicidal activity was observed in HAE-Gu with 96.78 % EHI at 6.25 mg/mL and 57.2 % larval mortality at 75 mg/mL. Followed by HAE-Ba showing 90 % EHI at 6.25 mg/mL and 58.0 % larval mortality at 75 mg/mL. The LC50 and LC90 of HAE-Gu on EHI were 2.7 and 4.4 mg/mL, respectively. While the LCs of this same extract on larvae were LC50= 64 and LC90= 125 mg/mL. The phytochemical analysis indicates that all extracts contain tannins, coumarins, flavonoids and terpenes. The fodder species G. ulmifolia and E. americana could be candidate plants for the control of H. contortus.

Resumen El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar el efecto nematicida de cuatro extractos hidroalcohólicos (EHA) de Brosimum alicastrum (EHA-Ba), Guazuma ulmifolia (EHA-Gu), Erythrina americana (EHA-Ea) y Leucaena leucocephala (EHA-Ll) contra Haemonchus contortus. Se usaron las pruebas de inhibición de la eclosión de huevos (IEH) y mortalidad larval (larvas infectantes). Los tratamientos fueron los EHA´s a concentraciones de 6.25-50 mg/ml para IEH y de 25-100 mg/ml para mortalidad larval, ivermectina (5 mg/ml, control positivo) y agua destilada (control negativo). Los datos se analizaron mediante un ANOVA y los tratamientos con efecto dependiente a la concentración se sometieron a un análisis de regresión para determinar las concentraciones letales (CL50 y CL90). Además, se realizó un análisis fitoquímico a los extractos para identificar la presencia de los principales metabolitos secundarios. La mejor actividad ovicida y larvicida fue observada en EHA-Gu con un 96.78 % de IEH a 6.25 mg/ml y 57.2 % de mortalidad larval a 75 mg/ml. Seguido de EHA-Ba mostrando 90 % IEH a 6.25 mg/ml y un 58.0 % de mortalidad larval a 75 mg/ml. Las CL50 y CL90 del EHA-Gu sobre la IEH fueron 2.7 y 4.4 mg/ml, respectivamente. Mientras que las CL´s de este mismo extracto sobre larvas fue de CL50=64 y CL90=125 mg/ml. El análisis fitoquímico indica que todos los extractos contienen taninos, cumarinas, flavonoides y terpenos. Las especies forrajeras G. ulmifolia y E. americana podrían ser plantas candidatas para el control de H. contortus.

Summary: The cultivation of blue agave has economic importance in the state of Jalisco as it generates employment, being the main economic source in several municipalities such as Tonaya and Tuxcacuesco. However, at present, the edaphological status of the soils is unknown and there is limited knowledge on the factors that regulate crop growth, which limits the determination of optimal crop yields. In this sense, the aim of our research was to evaluate the state of fertility of the soils cultivated with blue agave in plots with dif ferent characteristics (virgin and with several planting cycles), as well as to diagnose their status in the Tonaya and Tuxcacuesco municipalities in order to suggest more ef ficient management and nutrition practices. Af ter analyses in the laboratory, the results show that the soils presented a mean pH value of 7.7, the mean concentration of organic matter was 2.19%. Overall deficiencies of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium were found, thus, the soils were classified in the low-to-poor category in terms of nutritional content. Moreover, there were no significant dif ferences between the plots evaluated, organic matter content and nutrients. We recommend the use of organic fertilizers and bean/corn/agave polyculture when agricultural and economic resources are suf ficient.

Resumen: El cultivo del agave azul es de importancia económica en el estado de Jalisco, genera gran cantidad de empleos y es la principal fuente económica de varios municipios como es el caso de Tonaya y Tuxcacuesco. No obstante, en la actualidad se desconoce el estado edafológico de los suelos, se exhibe un limitado conocimiento de los factores que regulan el crecimiento del cultivo, lo que propicia que los rendimientos en el cultivo no se consideren óptimos. En este sentido, el objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el estado de la fertilidad de los suelos cultivados con agave azul en parcelas con distintas características (vírgenes y con varios ciclos de siembra) y diagnosticar su estado, en los municipios de Tonaya y Tuxcacuesco, con el fin de proponer prácticas de manejo y nutrición eficientes. Se analizaron los suelos en laboratorio, encontrándose las siguientes características; los resultados obtenidos evidencian que en promedio los suelos presentaron valores de pH de 7.7, la concentración de materia orgánica con promedio de 2.19%, en la mayoría de los sitios se encontraron deficiencias de nitrógeno, fósforo y potasio, clasificando a los suelos en la categoría de bajos a pobres en cuanto al contenido nutricional. Con base en los análisis estadísticos se demostró que no existen diferencias significativas entre los tipos de parcelas evaluadas, su contenido de materia orgánica y nutrientes. En cuanto a las prácticas de manejo se recomienda utilizar abonos orgánicos y el sistema de policultivo frijol, maíz y agave cuando el contexto agrícola y económico lo permitan.

Resumen Antecedentes: El cáncer de células pequeñas (CPCP) representa el 13-15% del total de neoplasias primarias de pulmón. Se caracteriza por su rapidez en la tasa de crecimiento y en el desarrollo de metástasis a distancia. Objetivos: Orientar y estandarizar el tratamiento del CPCP enfermedad extensa en México basado en evidencia clínica nacional e internacional. Material y métodos: Este documento se desarrolló como una colaboración del Instituto Nacional de Cancerología y la Sociedad Mexicana de Oncología en cumplimiento con estándares internacionales. Se integró un grupo conformado por oncólogos médicos, cirujanos oncólogos, cirujanos de tórax, radio-oncólogos y metodólogos con experiencia en revisiones sistemáticas de la literatura y guías de práctica clínica. Resultados: Se consensaron, por el método Delphi y en reuniones a distancia, las recomendaciones en CPCP enfermedad extensa, producto de preguntas de trabajo. Se identificó y evaluó la evidencia científica que responde a cada una de dichas preguntas clínicas antes de incorporarla al cuerpo de la guía. Conclusión: Esta guía proporciona recomendaciones clínicas para el manejo de la enfermedad extensa del CPCP y durante el proceso de toma de decisiones de los clínicos involucrados con su manejo en nuestro país para mejorar la calidad de la atención clínica para estos pacientes.

Abstract Background: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) represents 13-15% of all primary lung neoplasms and is characterized by its rapid growth rate and the rapid development of distant metastases. Objectives: To guide and standardize the treatment of extensive disease small cell lung cancer in Mexico based on national and international clinical evidence. Material and methods: This document was developed as a collaboration between the National Cancer Institute and the Mexican Society of Oncology in compliance with international standards. An interdisciplinary group was formed, including medical oncologists, oncological surgeons, thoracic surgeons, radiation oncologists, and methodologists with experience in systematic reviews of the literature and clinical practice guidelines. Results: A consensus was reached, both by the Delphi method and in remote meetings, of extensive disease recommendations resulting from work questions. The scientific evidence that answers each of these clinical questions was identified and critically evaluated, before being incorporated into the body of evidence of the Guide. Conclusions: This Clinical Practice Guide provides clinical recommendations for the management of extensive disease of SCLC to contribute to the decision-making process of the clinicians involved with its management in our country, hoping that this will contribute to improving the quality of clinical care in these patients.

Abstract Background: The COVID-19 lockdown possibly meant a delay in the diagnosis and treatment of melanoma and therefore, worsening its prognosis. This unique situation of diagnosis deferral is an exceptional opportunity to investigate melanoma biology. Objectives: To evaluate the immediate and mid-term impact of diagnosis delay on melanoma. Methods: A retrospective observational study of melanoma diagnosed between March 14th 2019 and March 13th 2021. We compared the characteristics of melanomas diagnosed during the first 6-month period after the lockdown instauration and a second period after recovery of normal activity with the same periods of the previous year, respectively. Results: A total of 119 melanomas were diagnosed. There were no differences in age, sex, incidence, location, presence of ulceration or mitoses, and in situ/invasive melanoma rate (p > 0.05). After the recovery of the normal activity, Breslow thickness increased in comparison with the previous year (2.4 vs 1.9 mm, p < 0.05) resulting in a significant upstaging according to the AJCC 8th ed. (p < 0.05). Study limitations: The main limitation is that this is a single-center study. Conclusions: The COVID-19 lockdown implied a diagnosis delay leading to a mid-term increase in Breslow thickness and an upstaging of invasive melanomas. However, the detection deferral did not result in a higher progression of in situ to invasive melanoma, in our sample.

SUMMARY: The present research corresponds to a cross-sectional descriptive study in the anthropometric field, which allows coaches to develop standards to identify talent and optimize training in the discipline of beach volleyball. Its objective was to define the anthropometric profile and body composition of the Mexican Olympic beach volleyball teams in both sexes. The participants were couples one and two of Mexico in both sexes (defined by FIVB ranking), 4 women and 4 men with average age of 30.25±6.85 and 27.25±7.36 years. The technique used was Heath-Carter´s somatotype method and the anthropometric profile restricted ISAK protocol. Among the findings resulting from the research, unification can be observed in the male morphological characteristics (triceps skinfold, front thigh skinfold, calf skinfold, circumference of relaxed and contracted arm, waist, hip, femur diameter and BMI), as for the somatotype, both sexes of Mexican couples are positioned in mesomorphs-balanced. In relation to other studies consulted, balance in somatotype and muscular development is observed with high performance teams. Weight and height, as well as age, are important variables for the selection of talent and future optimal performance in world and professional volleyball.

RESUMEN: La presente investigación corresponde a un estudio descriptivo transversal en el campo antropométrico, que permite a los entrenadores desarrollar estándares para identificar talentos y optimizar el entrenamiento en la disciplina de voleibol de playa. Su objetivo fue definir el perfil antropométrico y la composición corporal de las selecciones olímpicas mexicanas de voleibol de playa en ambos géneros. Los participantes fueron las parejas uno y dos de México en ambos géneros (definidos por ranking Fédération Internationale de Volleyball), 4 mujeres y 4 hombres con edad promedio de 30.25±6.85 y 27.25±7.36 años. La técnica utilizada fue el método del somatotipo de Heath-Carter y el protoolo ISAK del perfil antropométrico restringido. Entre los hallazgos resultantes de la investigación, se puede observar una unificación en las carácteristicas morfológicas masculinas (pliegue cuatáneotricipital, pliegue cutáneo anterior del muslo, pliegue citáneo de la pantorrila, circunferencia del brazo relajado y contraído, cintura, cadera, diámetro del fémur e IMC), en cuanto al somatotipo, ambos sexos de las parejas mexicanas se posicionan en mesomorfos-equilibrados. En relación a otros estudios consultados, se observa equilibrio en somatotipo y desarrollo muscular con equipos de alto rendimiento. El peso y la altura, así como la edad, son variables importantes para la selección del talento y en el futuro desempeño óptimo en el voleibol mundial y profesional.

Multi-drug-resistant bacteria (MDR) are the cause of different infections and diseases that have affected humanity for a long time, and have been an emerging global health problem that has led to increased morbidity and mortality. The growing emergence of MDR bacteria has underlined the need for development and discovery of new antibacterial compounds. In this context, a series of new paeonol 1,2,3-triazole and ether derivatives were synthesized using copper(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction and nucleophilic substitution. Paeonol has been a natural product widely studied due to its many biological activities, as well as its derivatives. Three ether derivatives (two unpublished) and ten triazole derivatives (six unpublished) of paeonol were obtained, which were determined by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) and six of them by X-rays, which is the first study of this type presented for these compounds. All the synthesized compounds were evaluated as antibacterial agents against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, obtaining a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) above 100 µg mL-1. The results showed that CuAAC and nucleophilic substitution were very useful to obtain new paeonol triazole and ether derivatives and the products were obtained in yields from 21.3 to 98.5%. The advantages of these reactions (high yield in most compounds, reaction time, low impurities) show that using the method to produce new derivatives is advisable thus assisting in the discovery of new potential bioactive compounds.

Abstract: The aim was to evaluate the effect of dietary addition of a polyherbal phytogenic (Animunin) on the productive performance and blood biochemistry in finishing lambs. Forty Hampshire × Suffolk males lambs (initial body weight 26.52 ± 2.13 kg) were allocated according to a completely randomized design in four treatments. Treatments consisted of dietary inclusion of the Animunin at 0, 1, 2, and 3 g kg-1 dry matter (DM). Animunin addition was not modified (p > 0.05) the productive performance, DM intake, backfat thickness, chop area, energy and protein metabolites, or liver enzymes. While hematocrit, hemoglobin and erythrocytes showed a quadratic response (p ≤ 0.05) with Animunin. The polyherbal phytogenic evaluated did not improve lamb’s productive performance and metabolites related with immune response.

Resumen: El objetivo fue evaluar el efecto de la adición dietaría de un fitogénico poliherbal (Animunin) sobre el comportamiento productivo y la bioquímica sanguínea en corderos. Se utilizaron 40 corderos machos Hampshire × Suffolk con peso vivo inicial de 26.52 ± 2.13 kg, distribuidos en un diseño completamente al azar en cuatro tratamientos. Los tratamientos fueron la inclusión de Animunin a 0, 1, 2 y 3 g kg-1 de materia seca (MS). La adición de Animunin no modifico (p > 0.05) el comportamiento productivo, el consumo de MS, el espesor de grasa dorsal, el área de la chuleta, los metabolitos energéticos y proteicos, o las enzimas hepáticas. Mientras que el hematocrito, la hemoglobina y los eritrocitos mostraron una respuesta cuadrática (p ≤ 0.05) a la adición de Animunin. El fitogénico poliherbal no mejoró el comportamiento productivo ni los metabolitos relacionados con la respuesta inmune de corderos.

Lipase hypersecretion syndrome (LHS) is a rare paraneoplastic syndrome, associated with acinar cell carcinoma of the pancreas (ACCP) in 10% to 15% of patients. Clinically, LHS manifests itself with the appearance of subcutaneous fibrocystic nodules, associated with trophic changes in the overlying skin, such as ulcers or fistulas that are difficult to manage, mainly affecting the lower extremities. Additionally, lipolysis near the joints and in the intraosseous adipose tissue can cause bilateral arthralgias, especially of the knees and ankles. We report a 57-year-old man, with a history of insulin resistance and allergic rhinitis, who presented in June 2019 with multiple subcutaneous nodules in the lower extremities, predominantly in both ankles, associated with arthralgia in that region. Additionally, a CT scan of the abdomen revealed a significant abdominal mass, measuring approximately 17 cm and in contact with the body and tail of the pancreas, pathologically compatible with an ACCP. Treatment with capecitabine was started with a favorable progression. The patient currently presents a small left lateral retro malleolar fistula, which, given the analyzes, studies and reviewed literature is concluded to be a lesion in the context of LHS.

ABSTRACT. This article presents an evaluation to classify cybercrime indicator awareness in students of three universities in Peru. To this end, it applied a twenty-item Likert scale questionnaire using Google Forms to a total of 372 students. Exploratory factor analysis was applied to the data collected, resulting in four factors: 1) phishing awareness, 2) spamming awareness, 3) antivirus software effectiveness, and 4) web bullying. The cybercrime awareness scale showed adequate internal consistency, presenting .892 in Cronbach’s alpha for the overall instrument and a range from .782 to .861 in the subscales’ alphas, thus, making it possible to determine the validity and reliability of the proposed scale.

RESUMEN. Este artículo presenta un análisis para clasificar los indicadores de conciencia sobre ciberdelito en los estudiantes de tres universidades de Perú mediante un cuestionario de veinte ítems medidos con la escala Likert, que fue aplicado a un total de 372 estudiantes mediante Google Forms. El análisis factorial exploratorio se aplicó a los datos recopilados, que dieron lugar a cuatro factores denominados: 1) conciencia sobre phishing, 2) conciencia sobre el spamming, 3) eficacia del software antivirus, y 4) bullying en la web. La escala de conciencia sobre el ciberdelito demostró que tiene una consistencia interna adecuada de ,892 del alfa de Cronbach para el instrumento general y las alfas de las subescalas van desde ,782 a ,861. Así, se logra determinar la validez y fiabilidad de la escala propuesta.

Upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UHD) is a common medical-surgical emergency that must be treated early due to its high morbidity and mortality. It corresponds to bleeding from the esophagus, stomach, or proximal duodenum, and is divided into non-variceal and variceal etiology. Among the non-variceal, the peptic ulcer stands out as the most frequent, being this produced by an imbalance between protective and aggressive factors. On the other hand, in variceal hemorrhages gastroduodenal varices stand out, are a consequence of increased portal pressure. The incidence of HDA worldwide varies between 37 to 172 cases per 100,000 inhabitants per year and mortality between 5 to 14% according to different studies. Unfortunately, there are no reliable national statistics of incidence and prevalence. The physician must have a good understanding of the clinical presentation and pathophysiology to be assertive in the suspicion, diagnosis, and management of this pathology. Regarding treatment, the confrontation is divided into emergency management and then endoscopic, because early intensive resuscitation can reduce morbidity and mortality in patients with UHD. This is an updated review which will be focused on the most relevant aspects of the management of this pathology. Data were obtained from Pubmed and Scielo, specifically searching for original articles and systematic reviews with the words “upper gastrointestinal bleeding”, “peptic ulcer”, “esophageal varices” and other related words. The criteria used were articles preferably less than 5 years old in scientific journals with a high impact index.

Resumen La hemorragia digestiva alta (HDA) es una emergencia médico-quirúrgica común que debe ser tratada precozmente por su alta morbimortalidad. Corresponde a sangrado del esófago, estómago o del duodeno proximal, y se divide en etiología no variceal y variceal. Dentro de las no variceales destaca la úlcera péptica como la más frecuente, siendo esta producida por un desbalance entre factores protectores y agresivos. Por otro lado, en las hemorragias variceales destacan las várices gastroduodenales, las cuales son consecuencia del aumento de la presión portal. La incidencia de la HDA a nivel mundial varía entre 37 a 172 casos por cada 100.000 habitantes por año y la mortalidad entre un 5 y un 14% según diferentes estudios. Lamentablemente, no existen cifras nacionales fidedignas de incidencia y prevalencia. El médico debe conocer bien la presentación clínica y la fisiopatología para ser asertivo en la sospecha, diagnóstico y manejo de esta patología. En cuanto al tratamiento, el enfrentamiento se divide en el manejo de urgencias y luego endoscópico, puesto que la resucitación temprana intensiva puede reducir la morbimortalidad en pacientes con HDA. A continuación se hará una revisión actualizada enfocada en los aspectos más relevantes del manejo de esta patología. Se obtuvieron los datos de Pubmed y Scielo, específicamente la búsqueda de artículos originales y de revisiones sistemáticas con las palabras “hemorragia digestiva alta”, “úlcera péptica”, “várices esofágicas” y otras relacionadas. Los criterios usados fueron artículos preferentemente menores a 5 años de publicación en revistas científicas de alto índice de impacto.

ABSTRACT Introduction: upper gastrointestinal bleeding constitutes a frequent clinical and surgical problem, which causes morbidity and mortality in all age groups. Objective: to determine prognostic factors for in-hospital mortality in patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Methods: an analytical, observational study of cases and controls was carried out in patients with upper digestive bleeding who were treated in the General Surgery service at “Arnaldo Milián Castro” Clinical and Surgical University Hospital during 2018. The study population consisted of 424 patients. Results: male gender (OR = 2.011), bleeding secondary to portal hypertension (OR = 7.174), presence of major disease (OR = 13.892), melena and hematemesis as a form of presentation (OR = 4.008), and Forrest ≤ IIa (OR = 40.385) were identified as the risk factors in the occurrence of mortality. The area under the curve for hematocrit, heart and respiratory rates was 0.897, 0.877 and 0.873, respectively, for excellent reliability. The mean survival was considerably lower for the categories of variables identified as risk factors associated with mortality. Conclusions: bleeding secondary to portal hypertension, presence of major disease, hematemesis with melena as a form of presentation, Forrest ≤ IIa, hematocrit, heart rate, respiratory rate, systolic blood pressure and creatinine were identified among the prognostic factors associated with mortality.

RESUMEN Introducción: el sangrado digestivo alto constituye un problema clínico-quirúrgico frecuente, que causa morbilidad y mortalidad en todos los grupos de edad. Objetivo: determinar los factores pronósticos de mortalidad intrahospitalaria en pacientes con sangrado digestivo alto. Métodos: se realizó un estudio observacional analítico de casos y controles en pacientes con sangrado digestivo alto que fueron atendidos en el servicio de Cirugía General del Hospital Universitario Clínico-Quirúrgico «Arnaldo Milián Castro», durante el año 2018. La población de estudio quedó conformada por 424 pacientes. Resultados: se identificaron como factores de riesgo en la ocurrencia de mortalidad: el sexo masculino (OR=2,011), el sangrado secundario a hipertensión portal (OR=7,174), la presencia de enfermedad mayor (OR=13,892), la melena y hematemesis como forma de presentación (OR=4,008), y Forrest ≤ IIa (OR=40,385). El área bajo la curva para el hematócrito, frecuencia cardíaca y respiratoria fue de: 0,897, 0,877, y 0,873, respectivamente, para una excelente fiabilidad. La media de supervivencia fue considerablemente menor para las categorías de las variables identificadas como factores de riesgo asociados a la mortalidad. Conclusiones: dentro de los factores pronósticos asociados a la mortalidad, se identificaron los siguientes: el sangrado secundario a hipertensión portal, la presencia de enfermedad mayor, la hematemesis con melena como forma de presentación, un Forrest ≤ IIa, el hematócrito, la frecuencia cardíaca, frecuencia respiratoria, tensión arterial sistólica y la creatinina.

ABSTRACT Introduction: making a transition towards the goal of a healthy periodontal population, with strengthening in the delivery of the preventive promotional component is a challenge for dentistry professionals. Objective: to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational and curative intervention strategy for chronic inflammatory periodontal disease in adolescents. Methods: a prospective, longitudinal and intervention study was carried out through a pre-experiment at “13 de Marzo” Basic Secondary School in Placetas, Villa Clara from January 2018 to September 2019. The study population consisted of 117 adolescents from the 7th grade and their parents, as well as, 16 teachers who worked with them. Periodontal condition, level of information on periodontal disease, oral hygiene and effectiveness of the strategy were the variables studied. Descriptive statistics, mainly absolute frequencies and percentages, and Wilcoxon signed - rank test, as a non-parametric test were used. Results: 69.2% of the adolescents had gingivitis, and 65.8% had an insufficient level of information. The educational and curative intervention strategy for chronic inflammatory periodontal disease consisted of four stages: diagnosis, strategic planning, implementation and evaluation, with an educational component (educational program) and a curative one. It was characterized by short- , medium- and long-term objectives, as well as the actions to fulfill those objectives. Conclusions: the strategy was assessed by specialist criteria as adequate, and it was considered effective after its application.

RESUMEN Introducción: hacer una transición hacia la meta de una población sana periodontal, con fortalecimiento en la entrega del componente promocional preventivo, es un reto para los profesionales de Estomatología. Objetivo: evaluar la efectividad de una estrategia de intervención educativa-curativa para la enfermedad periodontal inflamatoria crónica en adolescentes. Métodos: se realizó un estudio longitudinal prospectivo de intervención mediante un pre-experimento, de enero de 2018 a septiembre de 2019, en la escuela Secundaria Básica «13 de marzo», de Placetas, Villa Clara. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por 117 adolescentes del 7mo grado escolar y sus padres, así como los 16 profesores que trabajaron con ellos. Las variables del estudio fueron: la condición periodontal, el nivel de información sobre la enfermedad periodontal, la higiene bucal y la efectividad de la estrategia. Se utilizaron: la estadística descriptiva, fundamentalmente las frecuencias absolutas y porcientos, y la prueba de los rangos con signo de Wilcoxon como prueba no paramétrica. Resultados: el 69,2 % de los adolescentes presentaron gingivitis, y el 65,8% tenía un nivel de información insuficiente. La estrategia de intervención educativa-curativa de la enfermedad periodontal inflamatoria crónica constó de cuatro etapas: diagnóstica, planeación estratégica, implementación y evaluación, con un componente educativo (programa educativo) y otro curativo. La caracterizaron los objetivos a corto, mediano y largo plazo, y las acciones para dar cumplimiento a dichos objetivos. Conclusiones: la estrategia fue valorada por criterios de especialistas como adecuada, y se consideró efectiva después de su aplicación.

SUMMARY: Until recently, determining the anthropometric and body composition profile of athletes has been a fundamental tool for predicting sports performance and biomechanical behavior. For this study, 15 players form the Mexican Men`s Volleyball Team, aged 26.4±4.73, were evaluated prior to the beginning of the XIV 2019 Pan- American Volleyball Cup, using the ISAK protocol. As well as the Carter & Heath equation to determine the anthropometric profile and somatotype, the percentage and Kg of fat, with the Durnin & Womersley equation, the De Rose and Gimares muscle mass, and bone tissue with the Rocha equation. The average weight was 85.45 kg (± 8.39), height 192.71 cm (±7.15); somatotype: endomorphic (2.3 ± 0.8), mesomorphic (4.0 ± 1.4), and ectomorphic (3.6 ± 1.5). The overage % GC was (3.6 ± 1.5). kg GC (11.2 ± 4.0), de % MM (43.8 ± 2.3) kg MM (37.3 ± 2.7), % TO (19.3 ± 1.8), kg TO (16.4 ± 1.2). It is concluded that the Mexican Men`s Volleyball Team is within the competitive ranges of a larger international teams, in addition, and as international reference values, the Selection presents two somatotypes profile, endo-mesomorphic for defensive players and ecto-mesomorphic for offensive players, technically benefiting their performance.

RESUMEN: Determinar el perfil antropométrico y de composición corporal de los atletas ha sido -hasta hace poco- una herramienta fundamental para predecir el rendimiento deportivo y comportamiento biomecánico. Para este estudio, se evaluaron a 15 jugadores de la Selección Mexicana de Voleibol Varonil, con edad de 26,4 ± 4,73, previo a la XIV Copa Panamericana de Voleibol 2019. Se utilizó el protocolo ISAK para la toma antropométrica así como las ecuaciones de Carter & Heath para determinar el perfil antropométrico y somatotipo, el porcentajey kg de grasa, se calculó a partir de la ecuación de Durnin & Womersley, la masa muscular con el método De Rose y Gimares, y tejido óseo con la ecuación de Rocha. Resultados: el peso promedio fue de 85,45 kg (± 8,39), estatura 192,71 cm (± 7,15); somatotipo: endomorfo (2,3 ± 0,8), mesomorfo (4,0±1,4) y ectomorfo (3,6 ± 1,5). El % GC promedio fue de (3,6 ± 1,5), kg GC (11,2 ± 4,0), de % MM (43,8 ± 2,3), kg MM (37,3 ± 2,7), % TO (19,3 ± 1,8), KgTO (16,4 ± 1,2). Se concluye que la Selección Mexicana Varonil Mayor de Voleibol se encuentra dentro de los rangos competitivos de una Selección mayor; así como también muestra valores de referencia internacional. Presenta dos perfiles somatotípicos, endo-mesomórfico para jugadores defensivos y ecto-mesomórficos en jugadores ofensivos, beneficiando técnicamente su desempeño.
