RESUMO OBJETIVO Avaliar e comparar o protagonismo das equipes de Saúde Bucal (eSB) no processo de trabalho em equipe na Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) ao longo de cinco anos, e estimar a magnitude das disparidades entre as macrorregiões brasileiras. MÉTODOS Estudo ecológico que utilizou dados secundários extraídos do Sistema de Informação em Saúde para a Atenção Básica (SISAB), de 2018 a 2022. Foram selecionados indicadores de matriz avaliativa previamente validada, calculados a partir dos registros na Ficha de Atividade Coletiva do grau de protagonismo das eSB nas reuniões de equipe, bem como do seu grau de organização em relação às pautas dos encontros. Foi realizada análise descritiva e da amplitude da variação dos indicadores ao longo do tempo, e também foi calculado o índice de disparidade para estimar e comparar a magnitude das diferenças entre as macrorregiões no ano de 2022. RESULTADOS No Brasil, entre 3,06% e 4,04% das reuniões de equipe foram lideradas por profissionais da eSB. No período, o Nordeste e o Sul foram as regiões que apresentaram maiores (3,71% a 4,88%) e menores proporções (1,21% a 2,48%), respectivamente. No período de 2018 a 2022, houve uma redução do indicador “grau de protagonismo das eSB” no Brasil e nas macrorregiões. Os temas mais frequentes em reuniões sob responsabilidade das eSB foram processo de trabalho (54,71% a 70,64%) e diagnóstico e monitoramento do território (33,49% a 54,48%). As maiores disparidades entre as regiões foram observadas para o indicador “grau de organização das eSB, em relação à discussão de caso e de projeto terapêutico singular”. CONCLUSÕES O protagonismo das eSB no processo de trabalho em equipe na APS é incipiente e apresenta disparidades regionais, o que desafia gestores e eSB para o rompimento do isolamento e da falta de integração, visando a oferta de atenção à saúde integral e de qualidade ao usuário do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS).

ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE Evaluate and compare the protagonism of Oral Health teams (OHt) in the teamwork process in Primary Healthcare (PHC) over five years and estimate the magnitude of disparities between Brazilian macro-regions. METHODS Ecological study that used secondary data extracted from the Sistema de Informação em Saúde para a Atenção Básica (SISAB – Health Information System for Primary Healthcare) from 2018 to 2022. Indicators were selected from a previously validated evaluative matrix, calculated from records in the Collective Activity Form on the degree of OHt’s protagonism in team meetings and its degree of organization concerning the meeting agendas. A descriptive and amplitude analysis of the indicators’ variation over time was carried out, and the disparity index was also calculated to estimate and compare the magnitude of differences between macro-regions in 2022. RESULTS In Brazil, between 3.06% and 4.04% of team meetings were led by OHt professionals. The Northeast and South regions had the highest (3.71% to 4.88%) and lowest proportions (1.21% to 2.48%), respectively. From 2018 to 2022, there was a reduction in the indicator of the “degree of protagonism of the OHt” in Brazil and macro-regions. The most frequent topics in meetings under OHt’s responsibility were the work process (54.71% to 70.64%) and diagnosis and monitoring of the territory (33.49% to 54.48%). The most significant disparities between regions were observed for the indicator “degree of organization of the OHt concerning case discussion and singular therapeutic projects”. CONCLUSIONS The protagonism of the OHt in the teamwork process in PHC is incipient and presents regional disparities, which challenges managers and OHt to break isolation and lack of integration, aiming to offer comprehensive and quality healthcare to the user of the Unified Health System (SUS).

Abstract There are no records of autochthonous cases of canine visceral leishmaniasis in the city of Curitiba, Paraná state, Brazil. In 2020, a male French bulldog (CW01), approximately 2 years old was taken by its owners to a private veterinarian clinic. The suspicion of CVL was confirmed by means of a serology test (ELISA/IFAT reagent), rapid chromatographic immunoassay (DPP®) (ELISA - Biomanguinhos®), parasitological culture and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). The animal routinely frequented parks in Curitiba and was taken on several trips to the municipalities of Bombinhas and Balneário Camboriú (Santa Catarina) and to Matinhos (Paraná) where CVL had not previously been reported. Treatment was initiated orally with Milteforan™ which resulted in a significant reduction in the parasitic load. The suspicion of autochthony was investigated through entomological research. A total of 10 traps were installed, one at the animal’s home, seven in adjacent city blocks and two in a forest edge. No sandflies were trapped in the dog’s home and adjacent houses. The traps in the forest edge caught one Migonemyia migonei female and five Brumptomyia spp. females. This case serves as a warning of the possible introduction of CVL in the city of Curitiba.

Resumo Não há registros de casos autóctones de leishmaniose visceral canina (LVC) no município de Curitiba, Paraná, Brasil. Em 2020, um "bulldog" francês macho (CW01), com aproximadamente 2 anos de idade, foi levado por seus donos a uma clínica veterinária particular. A suspeita de LVC foi confirmada por meio de teste sorológico (reagente ELISA/IFAT), imunoensaio cromatográfico rápido (DPP®) (ELISA - Biomanguinhos®), cultura parasitológica e reação quantitativa em cadeia da polimerase (qPCR). O animal frequentava, rotineiramente, parques de Curitiba e foi levado em diversas viagens para Bombinhas e Balneário Camboriú (Santa Catarina) e para Matinhos (Paraná), onde a LVC não havia sido relatada anteriormente. O tratamento foi iniciado por via oral com Milteforan™ (Virbac) o que resultou em redução significativa da carga parasitária. A suspeita de autóctone foi investigada por meio de pesquisa entomológica. Foram instaladas 10 armadilhas, uma na casa do animal, sete em quarteirões adjacentes e duas na borda da mata. Nenhum inseto foi capturado na casa do proprietário do animal e nas casas adjacentes. As armadilhas na borda da mata capturaram uma fêmea de Migonemyia migonei e cinco Brumptomyia spp. fêmeas. Este caso serve de alerta para a possível introdução da LVC na cidade de Curitiba.

RESUMO: A fasciolose é uma zoonose de distribuição global causada pelo parasita Fasciola spp. Infecções em humanos podem ocorrer em áreas endêmicas para fasciolose animal, sugerindo a necessidade de estudos sobre essa parasitose e seus determinantes. O presente estudo exploratório teve como objetivo analisar a distribuição espacial da fasciolose bovina, no estado de Santa Catarina, Brasil, a partir de casos notificados entre 2015 e 2017 no abatedouro frigorífico estadual, localizado em Orleans, SC, e associar a ocorrência da doença a altitude, temperatura e precipitação. A pesquisa foi conduzida na Universidade Barriga Verde em Orleans, SC e na Fundação Oswaldo Cruz no Rio de Janeiro, RJ. No período de análise o matadouro recebeu animais de 58 municípios do estado de Santa Catarina. Dos animais abatidos nesse período, 10,81% estavam infectados por Fasciola hepatica. A presença da infecção por fasciolose foi encontrada no Sul no território estudado, com maiores prevalências no Sudeste do estado. Houve uma associação entre baixas altitudes e maior ocorrência de fasciolose nos municípios. A prevalência de fasciolose bovina foi também maior em municípios com altas temperaturas e com baixa pluviosidade. Sendo assim, esses resultados devem ser levados em consideração para o planejamento de medidas de controle da doença no Sul de Santa Catarina.

ABSTRACT: Fascioliasis is a zoonosis of global distribution caused by the parasitic trematode Fasciola spp. Infection in humans can occur in areas endemic for animal fascioliasis, suggesting the need for studies on this parasitosis and its determinants. This exploratory study aimed to analyze the spatial distribution of bovine fascioliasis in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, based on cases notified between 2015 and 2017 in a state abattoir, located in the municipality of Orleans, and to associate disease occurrence with altitude, temperature, and rainfall. The research was conducted at Centro Universitário Barriga Verde (UNIBAVE)/Orleans, SC and Fundação Oswaldo Cruz/Rio de Janeiro, RJ. During the study period, the abattoir received animals from 58 municipalities in that state. Of the animals slaughtered in that period, 10,81% were infected with Fasciola hepatica. Presence of bovine fascioliasis infection was identified in the South and Southeast regions of the state, with higher prevalence rates in the latter. There was an association between low altitudes and higher occurrence of cases in the municipalities assessed. In addition, prevalence of bovine fascioliasis was higher in municipalities with high temperatures and low rainfall. Therefore, these results should be considered for planning disease control measures in the South and Southeast regions of the state of Santa Catarina.

RESUMO O presente estudo teve como objetivo analisar como diferentes esquemas combinando estimativa de erro e frequência relativa de feedback extrínseco afetam a aprendizagem motora. Cinquenta e dois estudantes de graduação (30 homens, 22 mulheres) com idades entre 18 e 35 anos (M = 21,15, DP = 2,97), todos novatos na tarefa, praticaram uma habilidade de produção de força com diferentes combinações entre estimativa de erro e frequência relativa de conhecimento dos resultados. Quatro condições experimentais foram comparadas: 1) nenhuma estimativa de erro com feedback após cada tentativa; 2) nenhuma estimativa de erro com feedback a cada duas tentativas; 3) estimativa de erro seguida de feedback após cada tentativa e 4) estimativa de tentativa após feedback a cada duas tentativas. A análise do erro absoluto da força revelou efeito significante para a frequência de feedback [F(1, 76) = 4.209, p = 0.044, ηp 2 = 0.52] e estimativa de erro [F(1, 76) = 7.483, p = 0.008, ηp 2 = 0.77]. A análise do erro constante da força não revelou diferenças significantes para estimativa de erro [F(1, 76) = 2.323, p = 0.132, ηp 2 = 0.37], mas para a frequência de feedback [F(1, 76) = 8.481, p = 0.005, ηp 2 = 0.83]. Os resultados mostraram aprendizagem superior dos grupos que combinaram estimativa de erro após receber feedback, independentemente da frequência relativa apresentada. A associação entre estimativa de erro e frequência relativa de feedback extrínseco (alto ou moderado) parece favorecer o desenvolvimento de mecanismos de detecção de erros, evitando os efeitos da dependência de feedback extrínseco e, consequentemente, potencializando o aprendizado.

ABSTRACT The present study aimed to analyze how different schedules combining error estimation and relative frequency of extrinsic feedback affects motor learning. Fifty-two undergraduate students (30 males, 22 females) aged 18 to 35 years old (M = 21.15, SD = 2.97), all novices in the task, practiced a force-production task with different combinations between error estimation and relative frequency of knowledge of results. Four experimental conditions were compared: no error estimation with feedback after every trial; no error estimation with feedback every two trials; error estimation following by feedback after every trial-and-error estimation following feedback every two trials. The absolute force error analysis revealed a significant main effect for both feedback frequency [F(1, 76) = 4.209, p = 0.044, ηp 2 = 0.52] and error estimation [F(1, 76) = 7.483, p = 0.008, ηp 2 = 0.77]. The constant force error analysis did not reveal a significant main effect for Error Estimation [F(1, 76) = 2.323, p = 0.132, ηp 2 = 0.37], but did for Feedback Frequency [F(1, 76) = 8.481, p = 0.005, ηp 2 = 0.83]. Results showed superior learning of groups that combined error estimation following receiving feedback, regardless of feedback frequency. The association between error estimation and relative frequency of extrinsic feedback (high or moderate) seems to favor the development of error-detection mechanism, thus avoiding the effects of extrinsic feedback dependence, and consequently enhancing learning

Abstract Aim: The present study aimed to investigate the prevalence of RAE in soccer players from different positions in Series A and B in 2020 Brazilian soccer, as well as the impact of RAE on the estimated market value of these players. Methods: Data from 1080 male elite soccer athletes were analyzed. Athletes were grouped according to birth quarters: Q1 (January-March), Q2 (April-June), Q3 (July-September), and Q4 (October-December) and the competitive level (Series A or B). Chi-square tests (χ2) were performed to compare the birthdates’ distribution of athletes according to a competitive level and playing positions. Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare the market values of players born in each of the quarters of the year across competitive levels and playing positions. The significance level was set at 5%. Results: The overall analyses showed the prevalence of RAE in Series A and B, with an overrepresentation of athletes born in the first two quarters of the year. The RAE analysis based on playing positions showed different from expected distributions for forwards, midfielders, and defenders in Series A. In Series B, only midfielders showed a difference from the expected distribution. As for the market values analyses, no differences were found based on the athletes’ birth quarters, regardless of competitive level or playing position. Conclusion: Our results indicate that, although RAE is prevalent in Series A and B of elite Brazilian soccer, it does not seem to influence players’ estimated market values.

RESUMO A regeneração óssea guiada visa o ganho de volume ósseo vertical e horizontal em rebordos atróficos, sendo utilizadas diferentes técnicas regenerativas associadas a biomateriais, podendo apresentar ocasionais complicações pós-cirúrgicas. O objetivo do relato de caso foi descrever as sucessivas abordagens para minimizar e eliminar as complicações apresentadas no pós-operatório de paciente submetida à técnica de regeneração óssea guiada. Na primeira cirurgia foi utilizada a membrana de politetrafluoretileno expandido denso (PTFE-d), suportada pela técnica da tenda e enxerto plaquetário autógeno, para realizar a técnica de regeneração óssea guiada. Após três meses, constatou-se a exposição da membrana, sendo removida a membrana e os parafusos de contenção no sétimo mês, com instalação de três implantes Hexágono Interno nas áreas dos dentes 13, 14 e 15. As roscas expostas foram recobertas com as hidroxiapatitas reabsorvíeis e recobertas com membrana PTFE-d. A radiografia panorâmica pós-operatória de quatro meses sugeriu osseointegração dos implantes. A técnica de regeneração óssea guiada associada à membrana de PTFE-d possibilitou a neoformação óssea propiciando a instalação de implantes osseointegrados em posição estética e funcional. A exposição das bordas da membrana permitiu a penetração de fluídos e contaminação, sugerindo o agravamento dos sinais de infecção e secreção purulenta. Ao contrário, a exposição de áreas centrais, não acarretou sinais inflamatórios e infecciosos.

ABSTRACT Guided bone regeneration aims to gain vertical and horizontal bone volume in atrophic ridges, using different regenerative techniques associated with biomaterials, with occasional post-surgical complications. The objective of the case report was to describe the successive approaches to minimize and eliminate the complications presented in the postoperative period of a patient submitted to the guided bone regeneration technique. In the first surgery, the dense expanded polytetrafluoroethylene membrane (d-PTFE), supported by the tent technique and autogenous platelet graft, was used to perform the guided bone regeneration technique. After three months, the membrane was exposed, with the membrane and the retaining screws removed in the seventh month, with the installation of three Internal Hexagon implants in the areas of teeth 13, 14 and 15. The exposed threads were covered with hydroxyapatites resorbable and covered with d-PTFE membrane. A four-month postoperative panoramic radiograph suggested implant osseointegration. The guided bone regeneration technique associated with the d-PTFE membrane enabled bone neoformation, enabling the installation of osseointegrated implants in an aesthetic and functional position. The exposure of the edges of the membrane allowed the penetration of fluids and contamination, suggesting the worsening of the signs of infection and purulent secretion. On the contrary, the exposure of central areas did not cause inflammatory and infectious signs.

Resumo: Os cães são os principais reservatórios do ciclo de transmissão domiciliar da leishmaniose visceral, e o diagnóstico é essencial para a efetividade das medidas de controle recomendadas pelo Ministério da Saúde. Os autores avaliam o desempenho diagnóstico do protótipo da ELISA-Vetlisa/BIOCLIN em amostras sorológicas de 200 cães, em triplicata, incluindo cães sintomáticos, oligossintomáticos e saudáveis, com dois painéis distintos (A e B) caracterizados por testes parasitológicos enquanto referência. No estudo, o kit-protótipo mostrou sensibilidade de 99% (IC95%: 94,5-100,0) e especificidade de 100% (IC95%: 96,4-100,0). A sensibilidade do kit-protótipo não variou de maneira significativa de acordo com o estado clínico dos cães. Considerando a classificação final dos resultados (positivo ou negativo), a concordância entre os resultados dos testes em triplicata foi quase perfeita (kappa = 0,99; IC95%: 0,98-1,00). O protótipo ELISA-Vetlisa/BIOCLIN tem o potencial de ser utilizada para o diagnóstico sorológico da leishmaniose visceral canina no Brasil.

Abstract: Dogs are the main reservoirs in the domestic transmission cycle of visceral leishmaniasis, and the diagnosis is essential for the effectiveness of the control measures recommended by the Brazilian Ministry of Health. We assessed the diagnostic performance of the ELISA-Vetlisa/BIOCLIN prototype with serum samples from 200 dogs, in triplicate, including symptomatic, oligosymptomatic, asymptomatic, and healthy dogs, originated by two distinct panels (A and B) characterized by parasitological tests as the reference standard. In this study, the prototype kit showed a 99% sensitivity (95%CI: 94.5-100.0) and a 100% specificity (95%CI: 96.4-100.0). The sensitivity of the prototype kit did not vary significantly with the clinical status of the dogs. Considering the final result classification (positive or negative), agreement between the results of repeated tests was almost perfect (kappa = 0.99; 95%CI: 0.98-1.00). ELISA-Vetlisa/BIOCLIN is a promising option for the serological diagnosis of canine visceral leishmaniasis in Brazil.

Resumen: Los perros son los principales reservorios en el ciclo de transmisión doméstica de la leishmaniasis visceral, por ello el diagnóstico es esencial para la efectividad de las medidas de control recomendadas por el Ministerio de Salud de Brasil. Evaluamos el desempeño diagnóstico de ELISA-Vetlisa/BIOCLIN prototipo con muestras de sérum de 200 perros, en triplicado, incluyendo sintomático, oligosintomático, asintomático y perros sanos, originadas por dos paneles distintos (A y B), caracterizados por test parasitológicos como referencia estándar. Objetivo: analisar e correlacionar os papéis ocupacionais, os sintomas e a capacidade de autocuidado em pacientes oncológicos atendidos no serviço de quimioterapia de um hospital universitário. Método: estudo transversal, no qual foram aplicados os instrumentos questionário sociodemográfico e clínico, Inventário de Sintomas do M.D Anderson - core, escala de avaliação da capacidade do autocuidado Appraisal of Self Care Agency Scale-Revised e Lista de Identificação de Papéis Ocupacionais em pacientes oncológicos atendidos no serviço de quimioterapia de um hospital universitário. A análise dos dados incluiu tabelas de frequências absolutas e relativas e regressão linear múltipla, adotando nível de significância de α=0,05. Resultados: a amostra apresentou capacidade para o autocuidado operacionalizada com média de ̄X=57,8. Na correlação entre o grau de importância dos papéis ocupacionais e os escores do instrumento de avaliação para o autocuidado foi encontrada significância estatística nos papéis de voluntário (r=0,26; p=0,02) e de amigo (r=0,33; p= <0,001). A regressão linear mostrou que quanto maior a interferência dos sintomas nas atividades de vida (β=0,20; p=0,05) e maior a importância do papel do amigo (p=0,001; p=0,43), maiores os índices de autocuidado. Conclusão: a operacionalização do autocuidado pode estar diretamente relacionada ao grau de importância atribuído ao desempenho de papéis sociais.

Objective: to analyze and correlate occupational roles, symptoms and self-care capacity in oncologic patients seen at the chemotherapy service of a university hospital. Method: cross-sectional study, in which the instruments were applied sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire, M.D Anderson’s Symptom Inventory - core, Appraisal of Self Care Agency Scale-Revised and Occupational Paper Identification List to oncologic patients seen in the chemotherapy service of a university hospital. Data analysis included absolute and relative frequency tables and multiple linear regression, adopting a significance level of α=0.05. Results: the sample showed capacity for self-care operationalized with an average of ̄X=57.8. In the correlation between the degree of importance of the occupational papers and the scores of the evaluation instrument for self-care was found statistical significance in the papers of volunteer (r=0.26; p=0.02) and friend (r=0.33; p= <0.001). The linear regression showed that the greater the interference of symptoms in life activities (β=0.20; p=0.05) and greater the importance of the role of friend (p=0.001; p=0.43), the higher the rates of self-care. Conclusion: the operationalization of self-care can be directly related to the degree of importance attributed to the performance of social roles.

Objetivo: analizar y correlacionar los roles ocupacionales, los síntomas y la capacidad de autocuidado en pacientes oncológicos atendidos en el servicio de quimioterapia de un hospital universitario. Método: estudio transversal, en el que se aplicaron los instrumentos cuestionario sociodemográfico y clínico, Inventario de Síntomas de M.D. Anderson - core, escala de evaluación de la capacidad de autocuidado Appraisal of Self Care Agency Scale-Revised y Lista de Identificación de Roles Ocupacionales en pacientes oncológicos atendidos en el servicio de quimioterapia de un hospital universitario. El análisis de los datos incluyó tablas de frecuencias absolutas y relativas y regresión lineal múltiple, a un nivel de significancia de α=0,05. Resultados: la muestra ha mostrado capacidad para el autocuidado operacionalizada, con un promedio de ̄X=57,8. En la correlación entre el grado de importancia de los roles ocupacionales y las puntuaciones del instrumento de evaluación para el autocuidado, se encontró significancia estadística para los roles de voluntario (r=0,26; p=0,02) y de amigo (r=0,33; p= <0,001). La regresión lineal mostró que cuanto mayor es la interferencia de los síntomas en las actividades de la vida (β=0,20; p=0,05) y cuanto mayor la importancia del rol del amigo (p=0,001; p=0,43), más altos son los índices de autocuidado. Conclusión: la operacionalización del autocuidado puede estar directamente relacionada con el grado de importancia atribuido al desempeño de los roles sociales.

Abstract Aim: This study investigated the Relative Age Effect (RAE) in Brazilian track and field athletes based on sex, age category (U-16, U-18, U-20, U-23 and senior), and event type (sprints/hurdles, middle distance, long-distance, jumps, throws). Methods: Data from 2.259 male and 1.776 female elite track and field athletes, ranked top-50 in events held by the Brazilian Track and Field Confederation in 2019 were analyzed. To determine RAE athletes were divided into four quarters based on their months of birth, considering January 1st the cut-off date. The influence of sex, age category, and event types in the pervasion of RAE in Brazilian track and field athletes was assessed through Chi-squared tests. Results: Athletes born closer to the cut-off date were more frequent than athletes born further from this date were in male youth categories. This effect reduced as categories increased, even reversing in the senior category. Finally, RAE was more frequent in events in which athletic performance relies more on strength, speed, and power, which is the case of sprints/hurdles, jumps, and throws. Conclusion: RAE is particularly prevalent in young male Brazilian track and field athletes, which indicates that many potentially talented athletes are overlooked in youth tryouts because they were born months away from the cut-off date. Policies that reduce the disadvantages faced by relatively younger athletes are warranted in order to avoid the loss of potential sports talents.

Abstract In canine visceral leishmaniasis, coinfections can aggravate the disease. Our aim was to investigate Brucella canis in dogs infected with Leishmania infantum. One hundred and six L. infantum-seropositive dogs were submitted to serology for B. canis, PCR for B. canis and L. infantum, and histopathological analysis of the genital tract. Anti-B. canis antibodies were detected in seven dogs whose clinical signs, L. infantum load and histological alterations were similar to those of seronegative animals. The circulation of anti-B. canis antibodies was low but demonstrates the exposure of dogs to this bacterium in a visceral leishmaniasis-endemic area.

Resumo Os cães são os principais reservatórios urbanos da Leishmania infantum, agente causador da leishmaniose visceral (VL), transmitida por vetores conhecidos como flebotomíneos. No Paraná, a primeira detecção de casos positivos caninos ocorreu em 2014, ano em que o Paraná perdeu o status de estado indene. O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar a prevalência da leishmaniose visceral canina no município de Palotina, a ocorrência de vetores que possam transmitir Leishmania infantum e o número de notificação de casos de leishmaniose visceral humana, no período de 2010 a 2020. Para determinar a ocorrência da leishmaniose visceral canina, amostras de sangue de 204 cães foram analisadas, utilizando-se o teste rápido (DPP®) para detectar anticorpos anti-L. infantum. Com o objetivo de investigar a ocorrência de potenciais vetores, coletas foram realizadas mensalmente em 18 pontos na área urbana do município. O número de casos de leishmaniose visceral humana foi investigado a partir de registros da Vigilância Epidemiológica. Nenhum cão testado foi positivo no teste sorológico. Apenas dois espécimes de Lutzomyia neivai, uma de Lutzomyia sp. e quatro de Brumptomyia brumpti foram coletados. Nenhum caso de leishmaniose visceral humana foi notificado. Esses resultados sugerem que não há evidência da circulação de L. infantum em Palotina.

Abstract Dogs are the main urban reservoir of Leishmania infantum, the causative agent of visceral leishmaniasis (VL), which is transmitted by sand flies. In the state of Paraná, the first detection of a positive dog for VL was in 2014, this year Paraná lost free status for this disease (VL). The objectives of this study were to determine the prevalence of canine visceral leishmaniasis in Palotina, the occurrence of vectors that may transmit Leishmania infantum, and the number of notifications of human visceral leishmaniasis cases from period 2010 to 2020. To determine the occurrence of canine visceral leishmaniasis, blood samples from 204 dogs were analyzed using the rapid test DPP® to detect anti-L. infantum antibodies. To investigate the occurrence of potential vectors, monthly collections were made at 18 points within the urban area of the municipality. The number of human visceral leishmaniasis cases was investigated from Epidemiological Surveillance records. None of the serologically tested dogs showed positive titration. Only two specimens of Lutzomyia neivai, one of Lutzomyia sp. and four of Brumptomyia brumpti specimens were collected. No human visceral leishmaniasis cases were reported. These results suggest that there is no evidence of circulation of L. infantum in Palotina.

Abstract Aims: This study investigated the existence of Relative Age Effect (RAE) in the selection process of male and female athletes in the Brazilian national handball teams according to age categories (U-18, U-21, and senior) and playing position (wings, backs, pivots, and goalkeepers). Methods: In order to determine RAE, athletes were divided based on their months of birth; quarters Q1 (January-March), Q2 (April-June), Q3 (July-September), and Q4 (October-December). Data were collected from the official Brazilian Handball Confederation (CBHb) website and included the athletes that participated in training and/or competitions composing the Brazilian national teams from 2014 to 2018. To determine the RAE on playing positions, age categories of male and female groups were pooled. Chi-squared tests were performed to investigate the RAE. Results: An over-representation of players born in Q1 and Q2 in the U-18, U-20, and senior categories of male teams and the U-20, and senior female teams were found. In the male teams, as the age category increased, RAE decreased, but still existed. Such distribution was reversed in the female athletes, with a higher RAE magnitude in the senior category as compared to U-18 and U-21. Additionally, it seems that RAE is dependent on the playing position only for male athletes (wings and backs) whereas RAE was found for all playing positions in female athletes. Conclusion: Overall, RAE was found in Brazilian national handball teams, but its magnitude and form of manifestation seem to be influenced by sex, category, and playing position.

Resumo A formação de linfocele, resultante da transecção dos canais linfáticos durante procedimentos cirúrgicos ou traumas, é relativamente comum, sendo relatada em aproximadamente 30% dos pós-operatórios de ressecção de linfonodos. Ela pode evoluir assintomática ou pode apresentar complicações, como dor, infecção secundária, compressão de vasos sanguíneos, a qual evolui para estase, trombose e edema. Seu tratamento ainda é de difícil consenso. Este artigo propõe descrever três casos em que o tratamento foi realizado a partir de ecoescleroterapia com polidocanol. Sua relevância está na escassez de relatos na literatura.

Abstract Formation of lymphocele secondary to transection of lymphatic channels during surgical procedures or traumas is relatively common and is reported in the postoperative period of approximately 30% of lymph node resection procedures. The condition may be asymptomatic or can present with complications such as pain, secondary infection, and compression of blood vessels, which can cause stasis, thrombosis, and edema. There is no consensus on treatment. This article describes three cases in which treatment was provided using polidocanol echosclerotherapy. Its relevance lies in the scarcity of reports in the literature.

Abstract Presently work was carried out the mechanical characterization of a composite of gypsum matrix reinforced with three different mass concentrations of sugarcane fibers (1 %, 2 % and 3 %), with the objective of their possible use in the production of construction elements. The analysis was made by compression and flexural strength tests. Also, through a correlation with the flexural test, it was calculated the tensile properties. With the results of the tests, it was possible to say that there is an influence of the concentration of sugarcane fibers in improving the mechanical properties of the product. The samples reinforced with 2 % of fibers had the best values for flexural, tensile and compression strength. Finally the comparison of the results obtained with some reports of the literature is carried out, and it is verified that the same ones have values approached in the resistance to the flexural and compression strength.

Resumen En este trabajo se realizó la caracterización mecánica de un material compuesto de matriz yeso reforzado con tres diferentes porcientos másicos de fibra de caña de azúcar (1 %, 2 % y 3 %), con el objetivo de su posible utilización en la fabricación de elementos de construcción. Los análisis fueron hechos a través de ensayos de resistencia a compresión y flexión. La resistencia a tracción se calculó a partir de los resultados del ensayo a flexión. De acuerdo con los resultados es posible afirmar que existe una gran influencia de los porcientos de fibra de caña de azúcar en la mejoría de las propiedades mecánicas del material compuesto, las muestras reforzadas con un 2 % de fibras fueron las que presentaron las mejores propiedades. Finalmente se realizó la comparación de los resultados obtenidos con algunos reportes de la literatura y se obtuvieron propiedades similares a otros compuestos estudiados.
