ABSTRACT Background: The riverine communities of the Amazon comprise different social groups that inhabit the rural areas on the banks of rivers and lakes. Residents usually travel by river to rural and urban areas and are then exposed to urbanized diseases such as those caused by arbovirus infection. In Brazil, emerging diseases such as dengue, Zika, chikungunya, and those caused by infection with Oropouche and Mayaro viruses necessitate epidemiological surveillance. This study was aimed at determining the frequency of positivity for immunoglobulin (Ig)G and IgM antibodies against Zika, chikungunya, and dengue viruses and performing molecular analyses to detect viral RNA for the Zika, chikungunya, dengue virus, Oropouche, and Mayaro viruses, in the same serum samples obtained from riverside populations. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in a riverside population in the Humaitá municipality of the Brazilian Amazon. More than 80% of the local population participated in this study. Entomological samples were collected to identify local mosquito vectors. Results: Analysis of 205 human serological samples revealed IgG antibodies against the dengue virus in 85 individuals. No molecular positivity was observed in human samples. Entomological analyses revealed 3,187 Diptera species, with Mansonia being the most frequent genus. Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus were not detected in the two collections. Conclusions: IgG antibodies against the dengue virus were highly prevalent, suggesting previous exposure. The absence of the arbovirus vectors Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus in the samples supports the hypothesis that the infections recorded likely occurred outside the riverside communities investigated. This article analyzes how Nature-based Solutions are integrated into the urban agenda in Brazilian cities. We sought to understand the co-benefits of those strategies, the main facilitators, their potentials and limitations. This article fills in the gaps of the research on Nature-based Solutions through a political science approach, providing more elements to analyze climate governance in the urban context and is based on the experiences in the Brazilian context. We analyzed two cases in depth, namely the cities of Campinas and Santos. We analyzed official government documents and attended events and meetings that took place between local governments and partner institutions. The results showed that Nature-based Solutions are being integrated into urban planning and development through existing sectoral policies and the regulation of specific policies. Specific institutional arrangements directed towards the challenges of environmental change were important facilitators of the strategies in both cities, driven mainly by the participation of local governments in projects led by cooperation networks of municipalities and international cooperation agencies. We verified a potential for social innovation based on the inclusion of gender issues, the involvement of vulnerable social groups in the planning of actions and a greater understanding of ecosystem services and the co-benefits of NbS, mainly by public managers. ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate symptoms, lung function, and quality of life of a cohort of patients hospitalized for severe COVID-19 12 months after hospital admission. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. We included severe COVID-19 survivors hospitalized in one of three tertiary referral hospitals for COVID-19 in the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Participants were submitted to lung function and six-minute walk tests and completed the EQ-5D-3L questionnaire. Results: The whole sample comprised 189 COVID-19 survivors (mean age = 59.6 ± 13.4 years) who had been admitted to a ward only (n = 96; 50.8%) or to an ICU (n = 93; 49.2%). At 12 months of follow-up, 43% of patients presented with dyspnea, 27% of whom had a restrictive ventilatory disorder and 18% of whom presented with impaired DLCO. There were no significant differences in FVC, FEV1, and TLC between the survivors with or without dyspnea. However, those who still had dyspnea had significantly more impaired DLCO (14.9% vs. 22.4%; p < 0.020) and poorer quality of life. Conclusions: After one year, survivors of severe COVID-19 in a middle-income country still present with high symptom burden, restrictive ventilatory changes, and loss of quality of life. Ongoing follow-up is needed to characterize long COVID-19 and identify strategies to mitigate its consequences. Abstract Hypertensive individuals present alterations in their calcium metabolism that consequently decrease the concentration of this mineral in the bone tissue. Objectives to evaluate the morphological and functional characteristics of the peri-implant bone tissue that was formed during the healing process by the placement implants using two different surface treatments: hydrophilic Acqua™ (ACQ) and rough NeoPoros™ (NEO), in spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) and normotensive rats (Wistar) whether or not treated with losartan. Methodology In total, 96 male rats (48 Wistar and 48 SHR) were divided into eight subgroups: absolute control rough (COA NEO), absolute control hydrophilic (COA ACQ), losartan control rough (COL NEO), losartan control hydrophilic (COL ACQ), SHR absolute rough (SHR NEO), SHR absolute hydrophilic (SHR ACQ), SHR losartan rough (SHRL NEO), and SHR losartan hydrophilic (SHRL ACQ). The rats medicated with losartan received daily doses of the medication. NeoPoros™ and Acqua™ implants were installed in the tibiae of the rats. After 14 and 42 days of the surgery, the fluorochromes calcein and alizarin were injected in the rats. The animals were euthanized 67 days after treatment. The collected samples were analyzed by immunohistochemistry, biomechanics, microcomputerized tomography, and laser confocal scanning microscopy analysis. Results The osteocalcin (OC) and vascular endothelium growth factor (VEGF) proteins had moderate expression in the SHRL ACQ subgroup. The same subgroup also had the highest implant removal torque. Regarding microarchitectural characteristics, a greater number of trabeculae was noted in the control animals that were treated with losartan. In the bone mineralization activity, it was observed that the Acqua™ surface triggered higher values of MAR (mineral apposition rate) in the COA, COL, and SHRL groups (p<0.05). This article aims to establish a dialogical and dialectical theoretical movement regarding the considerations about the Theory of Developmental Learning in the Elkonin-Davidov-Repkin Didactic System, and the Theory of Study Activity and its contributions to the formation of the student as a subject of their activity in Developmental Learning. Produce dialogical movements of reflection and analysis, which advance propositions that promote the insertion of subjects and their sociocultural and material diversities in school spaces, while belonging and valuing their knowledge as potential for developmental learning. As well as, seek approaches to developmental learning and point out the theoretical contributions of this theory to learning in elementary education in Brazilian schools in basic education. Through theoretical readings and the information learned by the research, it is concluded that the apprehension of the human being and its historicity is understood not as a mere existence, but as a dialectical movement of transformation through practical activity mediated by cultural instruments and historically constituted scientific knowledge. This premise must enter the walls of the school, with effective forms of organization and guidance of the training processes of teachers, students and educational management, so that, supported by research in this area, we can rethink didactic-methodological practices based on Developmental Didactics, which help in promoting the personal and social transformation of students, their intellectual and emotional autonomy.

ABSTRACT Some native species of the Cerrado have great ecological and economic potential. An alternative that aims to contribute to the good performance of post-planting plants is the incorporation of biochar into the soil. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of filter cake biochar as a soil conditioner and its influence on the growth and physiology of macaúba, araçá and cajuzinho do cerrado. The experiments were set up at Fazenda Hamilton de Abreu Navarro, Federal University of Minas Gerais, where the effect of four doses of filter cake biochar (1%, 2%, 4% and 8% v/v) and two treatments were evaluated. control: one with soil correction (7.5 g of GEOX) and mineral fertilization (380 g NPK 4:14:8 per plant) and the other without fertilization. To monitor the performance of the seedlings, evaluations were carried out at 30, 60 and 120 days after transplanting, the physiological parameters (photosynthesis, transpiration, stomatal conductance, CO2 consumed, internal carbon and electron transport rate), and morphological parameters (height and diameter), at 30, 60, 90 and 120 days after transplanting. At 120 days, the production of shoot, root and total dry biomass was evaluated. For macaúba, the application of biochar, at a dose of 2%, favored its photosynthesis. As for araçá, at 30 days after transplanting, the treatment without fertilization was better for most variables, however the treatments with biochar also had satisfactory results. The cajuzinho from the cerrado also responded positively to the application of biochar at all doses. The physiological and morphological variables responded well to treatments without fertilization and with application of biochar to the soil. RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito do biochar de torta de filtro como condicionador de solo e sua influência no crescimento e na fisiologia de macaúba, araçá e cajuzinho do cerrado. Os experimentos foram montados na Fazenda Hamilton de Abreu Navarro da UFMG, onde foram avaliados o efeito de quatro doses de biochar de torta de filtro (1%, 2%, 4% e 8% v/v) e dois tratamentos controle: um com correção do solo e adubação mineral, e o outro sem adubação. Para acompanhar o desempenho das mudas, foram realizadas avaliações aos 30, 60 e 120 dias após o transplantio, dos parâmetros fisiológicos (fotossíntese, transpiração, condutância estomática, CO2 consumido, carbono interno e taxa de transporte de elétrons), e morfológicos (altura e diâmetro), aos 30, 60, 90 e 120 dias após o transplantio. Remote teaching was a new practice used as a strategy for the continuity of educational activities during the Covid-19 pandemic. It involved radical changes with impacts on teacher health. This study aimed to analyze the challenges encountered by teachers of the Private Teaching Network of the State of Bahia in the remote teaching modality and its impact on teacher health. The data originated from the research entitled “Teaching work and health in times of a pandemic (Covid-19)”, carried out through an online form, which contained an open subjective question that provided the opportunity to narrate experiences with emergency remote teaching. The empirical material was organized into the following thematic categories: the use of digital technologies in remote teaching; work intensification and professional devaluation; and repercussions on the health of teachers. It was found that the configuration of emergency remote teaching transformed the teachers' homes into spaces for pedagogical activities with improvised organization and working conditions, superimposed on domestic activities. There were reports of moral harassment practices and adverse health effects, such as burnout and psychic suffering, due to the pressure to meet educational demands. This included the need for rapid acquisition of knowledge and management of technological resources that demanded continuously, often without rest breaks, with significant damage to the teacher’s mental health.

La enseñanza remoto fue una nueva práctica utilizada como estrategia para la continuidad de las actividades educativas durante la pandemia del Covid-19. Implicó cambios radicales con impactos en la salud de los docentes. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar los desafíos encontrados por los docentes de la Red Privada de Enseñanza del Estado de Bahía en la modalidad de enseñanza a distancia y su impacto en la salud de los docentes. Los datos se originaron a partir de la investigación titulada “Trabajo docente y salud en tiempos de pandemia (Covid-19)”, realizada a través de un formulario en línea, que contenía una pregunta subjetiva abierta que brindó la oportunidad de narrar experiencias con la docencia a distancia de emergencia. El material empírico se organizó en las siguientes categorías temáticas: el uso de tecnologías digitales en la enseñanza a distancia; intensificación del trabajo y desvalorización profesional; y repercusiones en la salud de los docentes. Se constató que la configuración de la teleenseñanza de emergencia transformó los domicilios de los docentes en espacios de actividades pedagógicas con organización y condiciones de trabajo improvisadas, superpuestas a las actividades domésticas. Hubo denuncias de prácticas de acoso moral y efectos adversos a la salud, como burnout y sufrimiento psíquico, debido a la presión por atender las demandas educativas. Esto incluía la necesidad de una rápida adquisición de conocimientos y manejo de recursos tecnológicos que exigían continuamente, muchas veces sin pausas de descanso, con daños significativos para la salud mental de los docentes.

O ensino remoto foi uma prática nova utilizada como estratégia para a continuidade das atividades educacionais durante a pandemia de Covid-19. Envolveu mudanças radicais com impactos na saúde docente. Este estudo objetivou analisar os desafios encontrados por docentes da Rede Privada de Ensino do Estado da Bahia na modalidade de ensino remoto e sua repercussão na saúde docente. Os dados originaram-se da pesquisa intitulada “Trabalho docente e saúde em tempos de pandemia (Covid-19)”, realizada por meio de formulário online, no qual constava uma questão subjetiva aberta que oportunizou a narrativa das experiências com o ensino remoto emergencial. O material empírico foi organizado nas seguintes categorias temáticas: o uso das tecnologias digitais no ensino remoto; a intensificação do trabalho e a desvalorização profissional; e repercussão na saúde dos docentes. Verificou-se que a configuração do ensino remoto emergencial transformou os domicílios das docentes em espaços de atividades pedagógicas com organização e condições de trabalho improvisadas e sobrepostas às atividades domésticas. Registraram-se relatos de práticas de assédio moral e efeitos adversos à saúde, como burnout e sofrimento psíquico, em função da pressão para corresponder às demandas educacionais. Isso incluiu a necessidade de aquisição rápida de conhecimentos e manejo de recursos tecnológicos que demandavam continuamente, muitas vezes sem pausas de descanso, com prejuízos significativos à saúde mental docente.

Abstract Objective To characterize the sociodemographic and clinical variables of people with intestinal stomas. Materials and Methods We conducted a cross-sectional study with 47 patients of a Specialized Rehabilitation Center (CER II/APAE) in the municipality of Três Lagoas, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Midwestern Brazil, from December 2019 to June 2020. Data was analyzed using inferential descriptive statistics (Anderson-Darling, Chi-squared, and Mann-Whitney normality tests). Results Regarding the patients, 87.23% were from Três Lagoas, 51.06% were female, 40.43% were aged from 60 to 69 years, 59.57% were married, 53.19% were brown, 59.57% were catholic, 36.17% finished elementary school, 46.81% were retired, and 57.45% earned a monthly income below 1 minimum wage. Moreover, 61.70% had undergone terminal colostomy (61.70%), 61.70% had received guidance about its placing, 57.45% had it placed due to situations of urgency, 74.47% had a stoma installed due to a neoplasia, 38.30% were permanent, with 46.81% located in the inferior left quadrant (ILQ), 59.57% presented pasty effluent, 63.83% had a circular diameter, 53.19% had pouches with 2 pieces and 57.45%, with a flexible base, 87.23% had other adjunct equipment, and 95.74% had been trained in self-care. The most common complication was skin/peristomal irritant contact dermatitis (59,57%), and 65,95% of these cases were solved by teaching self-care. The type of stoma was significantly associated with the consistency of the effluent and the size of the protrusion (p> 0.05). Abstract In the last few decades, there have been considerable improvements in the diagnosis and care of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), the most common childhood muscular dystrophy. International guidelines have been published and recently reviewed. A group of Brazilian experts has developed a standard of care based on a literature review with evidence-based graded recommendations in a two-part publication. Implementing best practice management has helped change the natural history of this chronic progressive disorder, in which the life expectancy for children of the male sex in the past used to be very limited. Since the previous publication, diagnosis, steroid treatment, rehabilitation, and systemic care have gained more significant insights with new original work in certain fields. Furthermore, the development of new drugs is ongoing, and some interventions have been approved for use in certain countries. Resumo Nas últimas décadas, houve progressos significativos no diagnóstico e no tratamento da distrofia muscular de Duchenne (DMD), considerada a distrofia muscular mais comum na infância. Diretrizes internacionais foram publicadas e revisadas recentemente. Um grupo de especialistas brasileiros desenvolveu um padrão de atendimento baseado em revisão de literatura, com recomendações graduadas pautadas em evidências compiladas em uma publicação dividida em duas partes. A implementação de melhores práticas de manejo ajudou a modificar a história natural desta doença crônica, progressiva, que, no passado, oferecia uma expectativa de vida muito limitada para crianças do sexo masculino. Desde a publicação desse consenso anterior, o diagnóstico, o tratamento com esteroides, a reabilitação e os cuidados sistêmicos ganharam novas possibilidades a partir da divulgação dos resultados de trabalhos originais em algumas dessas áreas. RESUMO: O coco é uma fruta cultivada em mais de 80 países e devido ao seu excelente valor nutricional e biológico é uma importante cultura para a indústria alimentícia. Assim, desenvolver novos produtos à base de coco é atrativo para explorar os benefícios proporcionados por microrganismos e melhorar a composição nutricional e bioativa de produtos de coco, como na preparação de bebidas fermentadas. Este estudo desenvolveu e caracterizou uma bebida à base de coco seco com o prebiótico frutooligossacarídeo, fermentada pelo probiótico Lactobacillus casei. A bebida foi formulada, filtrada, fermentada, maturada e armazenada sob refrigeração (4 °C) por 28 dias; além de avaliada em relação às suas características físicas, químicas, antioxidantes e microbiológicas. Quando comparada à amostra padrão não-fermentada ao longo do armazenamento, a bebida fermentada apresentou variações significativas (P < 0.05) para cor instrumental, acidez e pH, enquanto as alterações para sólidos solúveis e índice de estabilidade foram observadas a partir do 7° dia de armazenamento. Em relação à composição química, todos os parâmetros variaram significativamente após o processo fermentativo. O teor de compostos fenólicos totais e capacidade antioxidante aumentaram significativamente após a fermentação. Reduções significativas foram observadas (P < 0,05) na viabilidade do Lactobacillus casei após a exposição às condições do trato gastrointestinal, com as seguintes contagens (em UFC mL-1) após 0 e 28 dias de armazenamento: - inicial: 9,23 ± 0.04 e 9,05 ± 0,12; após a fase gástrica: 6,21 ± 0,09 e 5,90 ± 0,01; e após a fase intestinal: 4,59 ± 0,33 e 4,75 ± 0,23, respectivamente.

Thus, developing new coconut-based products is attractive to explore the benefits provided by microorganisms and improve the nutritional and bioactive composition of coconut products, such as by preparing fermented beverages. This study developed and characterize a drink based on dry coconut with the prebiotic fructooligosaccharide fermented by the probiotic Lactobacillus casei. The drink was formulated, filtered, fermented, matured, and stored under refrigeration (4 °C) for 28 days; it was evaluated for its physical, chemical, antioxidant, and microbiological characteristics. Compared to the standard non-fermented sample during storage, the fermented drink showed significant variations (P < 0.05) in instrumental color, acidity, and pH, while changes in soluble solids and stability index were observed after 7 days of storage. Regarding the chemical composition, all parameters varied significantly after fermentation. The total phenolic compound content and antioxidant capacity increased significantly after fermentation. Significant reductions were observed (P < 0.05) in the viability of Lactobacillus casei after exposure to gastrointestinal tract conditions, with the following counts (in log CFU mL-1) after 0 and 28 days of storage: - initial: 9.23 ± 0.04 and 9.05 ± 0.12; after the gastric phase: 6.21 ± 0.09 and 5.90 ± 0.01; and after the intestinal phase: 4.59 ± 0.33 and 4.75 ± 0.23, respectively.

The aim of this study was to map scientific evidence regarding suicide prevention and postvention strategies during the Covid-19 pandemic. To this end, we undertook a scoping review between 17 December 2021 and 8 February 2022, performing searches of the following databases: MEDLINE via PubMed, ISI of Knowledge via Web of Science, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Excerpta Medica database (EMBASE), SCOPUS, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) and Psychology Information (PsycINFO). Eleven studies were analyzed. The findings show that cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, psychoeducation as part of the cognitive model of suicidal behavior, and psychological flexibility have the potential to prevent suicide.

Tal procedimiento es fuertemente opuesto por activistas del parto humanizado que acusan a los obstetras de ser los responsables de esta “epidemia de cesáreas” en el país, generando fuertes conflictos con ellos. El estudio tiene como objetivo analizar los argumentos de la entidad médica Conselho Regional de Medicina do Rio de Janeiro (CREMERJ) contra los activistas del parto humanizado con respecto a la acusación dirigida a los médicos por las indicaciones de cesáreas innecesarias con graves daños a la salud de los binomio madre-hijo. La metodología se basó en la observación participante de los eventos de CREMERJ en 2019 y el análisis de documentos y material de prensa. Se observó que la evidencia científica y la ideología política son utilizadas por ambos polos en un juego de saberes y disputas de poder.

Abstract: Brazil is considered the second country in the world in number of cesarean sections. Such a procedure is strongly opposed by humanized childbirth activists who accuse obstetricians of being responsible for this “epidemic of cesarean sections” in the country, generating strong conflicts with them. The study aims to analyze the arguments of the medical entity Conselho Regional de Medicina do Rio de Janeiro (CREMERJ) against the humanized childbirth activists with regard to the accusation directed at doctors for the indications of unnecessary cesarean sections with serious damage to the health of the mother-child binomial. The methodology was based on participant observation of events at CREMERJ in 2019 and analysis of documents and media material. It was observed that scientific evidence and political ideology are used by both poles in a game of knowledge and power disputes.

Abstract Vascular epiphytes contribute significantly to the biodiversity of tropical forests. We aimed to identify the epiphyte species occurring in the Muriqui Trail at Serra do Brigadeiro State Park (SBSP), a priority area for Atlantic forest conservation in southeastern Brazil. We selected 10 phorophytes, from which we sampled epiphytes and took light intensity measurements at three strata: up to 4 m, 4 to 8 m, and above 8 m. Phorophytes represented eight species, eight genera, and six families. We found 25 epiphytic species from 17 genera and nine families. Ferns showed highest richness, especially Polypodiaceae. We report herein important data on epiphyte diversity in eastern Minas Gerais state (Zona da Mata), including the occurrence of species rarely cited in surveys.
