RESUMEN Introducción: La investigación psicológica puede ser desarrollada por investigadores y también por estudiantes de pregrado o posgrado. En un nivel de pregrado, la investigación psicológica es especialmente desafiante debido a la capacidad limitada de los estudiantes para desarrollar problemas de investigación y enfoques metodológicos coherentes y lógicos. Objetivo: El objetivo de este estudio es identificar las principales tendencias de investigación en las tesis de grado en psicología de las universidades peruanas. Como objetivo específico, se distinguieron las tendencias de diseño de investigación cuantitativa y cualitativa. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión sistemática descriptiva y retrospectiva de tesis de investigación en psicología de estudiantes universitarios peruanos, iniciando el proceso de extracción de datos a partir de la base de datos RENATI para una fase inicial de selección. El análisis de datos se realizó en dos fases. Resultados: Primero se organizaron los datos en relación a su frecuencia de las categorías de sexo de los autores, las universidades se catalogaron como universidades 1, 2, 3, 4 y 5 según su ranking, las categorías de años de publicación, número de autores Se obtuvieron diseños, tipo de metodología y área de publicación. A partir de estas categorías se establecieron estadísticos descriptivos de frecuencia. En la siguiente fase, se utilizaron análisis textuales lexicométricos y estadísticos para identificar los temas de tendencia de investigación. Discusión: Los principales resultados muestran que diferentes temas se enmarcan predominantemente dentro de la línea de investigación de la psicología clínica y de la salud, principalmente los relacionados con los estilos de afrontamiento, el estrés psicológico y el bienestar.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Psychological research can be developed by researchers and also by undergraduate or postgraduate students. In an undergraduate level, psychological research is specially challenging due to the limited ability of students to develop coherent and logical research problems and methodological approaches. Objective: The objective of this study is to identify the main research trends in undergraduate psychological theses from Peruvian universities. As a specific objective, quantitative and qualitative research design trends were distinguished. Methods: A descriptive and retrospective systematic review of psychological research thesis of Peruvian undergraduate students was conducted, starting the data extraction process starting with RENATI database for an initial screening phase. Data analysis was conducted in two phases. Results: First, data was organized in relation to its frequency of the categories of authors' sex, the universities were catalogued as universities 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 according to their ranking, the categories of years of publication, number of authors, designs, type of methodology, and area of publication were obtained. Descriptive frequency statistics were established based on these categories. In the next phase, lexicometric and statistical textual analysis were used to identify research trending topics. Discussion: The main results show that different topics are predominantly framed within the clinical and health psychology line of research, mainly those related to coping styles, psychological stress and wellbeing.

RESUMEN El artículo analiza algunos puntos del diálogo entablado en los últimos años entre Roberto Gargarella y Antony Duff. Gargarella ha criticado a Duff por defender una mirada que incorpora elementos de dos concepciones políticas rivales, el liberalismo y el comunitarismo, dando lugar a una teoría que es internamente inconsistente. El problema de dicha crítica es que Gargarella incurre en el mismo tipo de contradicción que atribuye a Duff. Luego de identificar la tensión que está presente en la obra de Gargarella se propone una forma posible de resolverla.

ABSTRACT In this paper, I will tackle some issues that have been raised in a recent debate between Roberto Gargarella and Antony Duff. Gargarella has criticized Duff for defending a theory which mixes elements of two incompatible politi cal views, liberalism and communitarianism. The problem about this line of criticism -I shall argue- is that Gargarella engages in the same kind of contradiction that he accuses Duff of making. After identifying the tension between two seemingly incompatible views in Gargarella's own work, I will offer a possible way to resolve such tension.

Racional: As metástases hepáticas de câncer colorretal são evento frequente e potencialmente fatal na evolução dos pacientes. Objetivo : No segundo módulo desse consenso, foi discutido o manejo de metástases hepáticas ressecáveis. Método : Foi definido o conceito de metástases síncrônicas e metacrônicas, e ambos os cenários foram discutidos separadamente de acordo com as suas peculiaridades prognósticas e terapêuticas. Resultados : Foi dada especial atenção às missing metástases em resposta ao tratamento pré-operatório sistêmico, com ênfase em estratégias para evitar sua recorrência e como gerenciar as lesões desaparecidas. Conclusão : Foram apresentadas e validadas estratégias de ressecção em várias circunstâncias, para serem aplicadas na prática clínica.

Background : Liver metastases of colorectal cancer are frequent and potentially fatal event in the evolution of patients. Aim : In the second module of this consensus, management of resectable liver metastases was discussed. Method : Concept of synchronous and metachronous metastases was determined, and both scenarius were discussed separately according its prognostic and therapeutic peculiarities. Results : Special attention was given to the missing metastases due to systemic preoperative treatment response, with emphasis in strategies to avoid its reccurrence and how to manage disappeared lesions. Conclusion : Were presented validated ressectional strategies, to be taken into account in clinical practice.

RESUMO O primeiro caso humano autóctone de leishmaniose visceral (LV) na Argentina ocorreu na cidade de Posadas (Misiones) em 2006, desde então, tem ocorrido um aumento na incidência e distribuição geográfica da doença. No período entre 2006 e 2012 foram detectados 107 casos humanos com 11 mortes. Em 2010 se constatou a presença de Lutzomyia longipalpis no município de Puerto Iguazú, localizado na fronteira entre Argentina-Brasil-Paraguai. O presente estudo teve como objetivo investigar a abundância e distribuição de Lu. longipalpis no município de Puerto Iguazú. Lu. longipalpis foi encontrada exclusivamente na área urbana, em 31% das amostras coletadas dos domicílios de referência (n = 53), 67% das quais pertenciam às áreas de baixa abundância, 20% às de moderada e 13% às de alta abundância da espécie. Nyssomyia whitmani foi coletado em ambientes urbanos e periurbanos e Migonemyia migonei, somente nas periferias da cidade. Na atualidade, a cidade de Puerto Iguazú é considerada como de risco moderado; por isso, é necessário intensificar o controle tanto de casos humanos como de caninos e levar em conta as medidas de prevenção e controle do ambiente, dos vetores e dos reservatórios na zona de fronteira Argentina-Brasil-Paraguai.

SUMMARY The first Argentinian autochthonous human case of visceral leishmaniasis (VL) was confirmed in Posadas (Misiones) in 2006. Since then, the disease has increased its incidence and geographical distribution. In the 2006-2012 period, 107 human cases were detected (11 deaths). The presence of Lutzomyia longipalpis was detected in peridomiciles in Puerto Iguazú urban area in 2010; some of these findings were associated with households where cases of canine VL had already been reported. The objective of this study was to ascertain the abundance and spatial distribution of Lu. longipalpis in Puerto Iguazú City, on the Argentina-Brazil-Paraguay border. Lu. longipalpis proved to be exclusively urban and was found in 31% of the households sampled (n = 53), 67% of which belonged to areas of low abundance, 20% to areas of moderate abundance and 13% to areas of high abundance. Nyssomyia whitmani was the only species found both in urban and peri-urban environments, and Migonemyia migonei was registered only on the outskirts of the city. Due to the fact that Puerto Iguazú is considered to be at moderate risk at the moment, it is necessary to intensify human and canine case controls, as well as take integrated prevention and control measures regarding the environment, vectors and reservoirs on the Argentina-Brazil-Paraguay border area.

OBJECTIVE: To estimate the association between the intensity of animal infection with Schistosoma japonicum and human infection in Western Samar province, the Philippines. METHODS: We conducted an observational cross-sectional study of 1425 households in 50 villages. Stool samples were collected on each of 1-3 days from 5623 humans, 1275 cats, 1189 dogs, 1899 pigs, 663 rats and 873 water buffalo. Intensity of infection with S. japonicum was measured by the number of eggs per gram (EPG). Egg counts were done using the Kato-Katz method. We used a Bayesian hierarchical cumulative logit model, with adjustments for age, sex, occupation and measurement error. FINDINGS: The adjusted proportions of humans lightly infected (classified as 1-100 EPG) was 17.7% (95% Bayesian credible interval = 15.3-20.2%); the proportion classified as at least moderately infected (>100 EPG) was 3.2% (2.2-4.6%). The crude parasitological results for animals indicated that 37 cats (2.9%), 228 dogs (19.2%), 39 pigs (2.1%), 199 rats (30.0%) and 28 water buffalo (3.2%) were infected. In univariate analyses the odds ratios corresponding to a unit increase in the mean number of EPG at the village-level in dogs was 1.05 (1.01-1.09), in cats 1.35 (1.02-1.78), in pigs 1.16 (0.24- 5.18) and in rats 1.00 (1.00-1.01). Mean EPG values in cats, dogs, pigs and rats were correlated with one another. This confounding made interpreting the odds ratios difficult, but the odds ratios for dogs and cats were more consistent. CONCLUSION: S. japonicum is endemic in areas of the Philippines despite implementation of control programmes. This may be due to the association of infections in dogs and cats with human infections. Infection control in dogs and cats is challenging, and there is a need to develop new methods to control transmission across all species.

OBJETIVO: Estimar la relación entre la intensidad de las infecciones animales por Schistosoma japonicum y la de la infección humana correspondiente en la provincia de Samar occidental de Filipinas. MÉTODOS: Realizamos un estudio transversal observacional de 1425 hogares en 50 aldeas. Se recogieron muestras de heces de forma diaria durante 1-3 días en 5623 personas, 1275 gatos, 1189 perros, 1899 cerdos, 663 ratas y 873 búfalos de agua. La intensidad de la infección por S. japonicum se midió en función del número de huevos por gramo (HPG). Los recuentos de huevos se hicieron mediante el método de Kato-Katz, y utilizamos un modelo logit acumulativo jerárquico de tipo bayesiano, con ajustes para la edad, el sexo, la ocupación y el error de medición. RESULTADOS: La proporción ajustada de personas con infección ligera (1 - 100 HPG) fue del 17,7% (intervalo creíble bayesiano del 95% = 15,3% - 20,2%), y la proporción clasificada como afectada moderadamente (HPG > 100) fue del 3,2% (2,2% - 4,6%). Los resultados parasitológicos brutos para los animales mostraron que estaban infectados 37 gatos (2,9%), 228 perros (19,2%), 39 cerdos (2,1%), 199 ratas (30,0%) y 28 búfalos de agua (3,2%). En los análisis con una variable las razones de posibilidades (OR) correspondientes a un aumento de una unidad del número medio de HPG a nivel de aldea fueron de 1,05 (1,01 - 1,09) en los perros, 1,35 (1,02 - 1,78) en los gatos, 1,16 (0,24 - 5,18) en los cerdos, y 1,00 (1,00 - 1,01) en las ratas. Los valores medios de HPG en los gatos, perros, cerdos y ratas estaban correlacionados entre sí. Este factor de confusión dificultó la interpretación de las OR, pero las OR de perros y gatos fueron más coherentes. CONCLUSIÓN: S. japonicum es endémico en algunas zonas de Filipinas pese a la puesta en práctica de los programas de control. Ello puede deberse a la asociación de la infección en perros y gatos a las infecciones humanas. El control de la infección en esas dos especies no resulta fácil, de ahí la necesidad de desarrollar nuevos métodos para controlar la transmisión a través de todas las especies.

OBJECTIF: Evaluer l'association entre l'intensité de l'infestation des animaux par Schistosoma japonicum et l'infestation des êtres humains par cette espèce dans la province du Samar occidental, aux Philippines. MÉTHODES: Une étude transversale d'observation a été menée auprès de 1425 ménages, dans 50 villages. Des échantillons de selles ont été recueillis quotidiennement sur une période de 3 jours, auprès de 5623 êtres humains, 1275 chats, 1189 chiens, 1899 porcs, 663 rats et 873 buffles d'eau. L'intensité de l'infestation par S. japonicum a été mesurée par le nombre d'œufs par gramme (EPG). Le comptage des œufs a été effectué par la méthode de Kato-Katz. Un modèle logit hierarchisé cumulatif de type bayésien, avec des ajustements pour tenir compte de l'âge, du sexe, de la profession et de l'erreur de mesure, a été utilisé. RÉSULTATS: La proportion ajustée d'êtres humains légèrement infestés (catégorie correspondant à 1-100 EPG) était de 17,7 % (intervalle de crédibilité bayésien à 95 % = 15,3 - 20,2 %) et celle d'humains modérément infestés (> 100 EPG) de 3,2 % (2,2 à 4,6 %). Les résultats parasitologiques bruts pour les animaux ont indiqué que 37 chats (2,9 %), 228 chiens (49,2 %), 39 porcs (2,1 %), 199 rats (30,0 %) et 28 buffles d'eau (3,2 %) étaient infestés. Dans les analyses monovariées, les odds-ratios correspondant à l'augmentation d'une unité du nombre moyen d'EPG au niveau du village chez les chiens était de 1,05 (1,01-1,09), chez les chats de 1,35 (1,02- 1,78), chez les porcs de 1,16 (0,24-5,18) et chez les rats de 1,00 (1,00-1,01). Les valeurs moyennes de l'EPG chez les chats, les chiens, les porcs et les rats étaient corrélées entre elles. Ce facteur de confusion a rendu difficile l'interprétation des odds-ratios, mais on a constaté une plus grande stabilité entre les odds-ratios pour les chiens et les chats. CONCLUSION: S. japonicum est endémique dans certaines zones des Philippines en dépit de la mise en œuvre de programmes de lutte. Cette situation peut être due à l'association d'infestations canines et félines à des infestations humaines. La lutte contre l'infestation des chiens et des chats représente un vrai défi et il est nécessaire de mettre au point de nouvelles méthodes pour endiguer la transmission entre les espèces.

A study was carried out on T. cruzi infection in pregnant women in the Guemes area in Salta province; the rate of infection was 12.3%. Of newborn children studied by the microhematocrit technique, 8.8% were diagnosed with Chagas' disease. All of them were treated with benznidazol (5mg/kg/day) for one month; all of them presented anemia, which was interpreted to be an adverse drug reaction. The microhematocrit technique is believed to represent the best option for diagnosis of this disease in newborn children. A diagnostic methodology to follow the course of the infection is proposed.

Se estudió la infección por T. cruzi en mujeres embarazadas en la localidad de General Güemes, provincia de Salta. La misma fue del 12,3 %. El 8,8% de los recién nacidos estudiados tuvieron diagnóstico de Enfermedad de Chagas utilizando la técnica directa (microhematocrito). Todos fueron tratados con benznidazol a razón de 5mg/kg/día durante 30 dias. Todos presentaron anemia, que fue interpretada como reacción adversa medicamentosa. Se estima que la técnica directa representa la mejor opción para llevar a cabo el diagnóstico de esta enfermedad en el recién nacido. Se ha propuesto un flujograma para el seguimiento de la infección por T. cruzi en el recién nacido.
