RESUMO Estudos em reprodução de tartarugas marinhas são importantes devido ao ciclo de vida, ao padrão migratório, à alta mortalidade juvenil e aos impactos ambientais. Objetivou-se analisar histomorfometricamente gônadas de C. mydas no litoral do Espírito Santo. Foram coletados ovários e testículos dessa espécie, entre 2014 e 2015. O material foi fixado em formol a 10% e avaliado macroscopicamente. Em seguida, foi processado para avaliação histomorfométrica. Foram avaliadas gônadas de 34 indivíduos, 24 fêmeas e 10 machos. Verificaram-se 100% de acurácia na identificação sexual à macroscopia, confirmada pela histologia. Observou-se dimorfismo sexual em um macho, que foi considerado adulto (CCC=1,023m). A microscopia dos ovários revelou folículos pré-vitelogênicos, cujos ovócitos apresentaram diâmetro médio entre 161µm e 750µm. Houve correlação positiva entre comprimento ovariano e diâmetro do maior ovócito e CCC. Nos machos, verificou-se autólise em cinco indivíduos. Os testículos viáveis revelaram espermatogônias, espermatócitos primários e células de Sertoli nos túbulos seminíferos, além de células de Leydig e fibroblastos no estroma. Houve correlação positiva entre diâmetro tubular e CCC e comprimento testicular e CCC. Verificou-se maturação do tecido estromal e correlação positiva entre o diâmetro do lúmen tubular e o CCC. Verifica-se que o desenvolvimento das gônadas é proporcional ao crescimento dos indivíduos.

ABSTRACT Studies on reproduction in sea turtles are important due to its life cycle, migratory patterns, high juvenile mortality and environmental impacts. This study aimed to analyse histomorphometrically gonads of C. mydas from the coastline of the Espírito Santo State, Brazil. Ovaries and testicles were collected between 2014 and 2015 from stranded animals. The material was fixed in formalin 10%, assessed macroscopically and processed for histomorphometrical evaluation. Gonads from 34 individuals were evaluated, twenty-four females and ten males. Macroscopic sexual identification presented 100% accuracy confirmed by histology. Sexual dimorphism was observed in one individual, which was considered as adult (CCL=1.023 m). Microscopy of female gonads revealed predominant previtellogenic follicles; oocyte diameter ranged between 161µm and 750µm and a positive correlation between ovarian length, largest oocyte and CCL was found. In males, autolysis was verified in five individuals. Viable testicles revealed predominant spermatogonia, primary spermatocytes and Sertoli cells in the seminiferous tubules and, Leydig cells and fibroblasts in the stroma. There was a positive correlation between tubular diameter and CCL and testicle length and CCL. Maturation of stromal tissue and a positive correlation between tubular lumen and CCL were also observed. Gonad development is proportional to individual growth.

Resumo O cnidário Craspedacusta sowerbii Lankester 1880 de água doce, tem invadido lagos e lagoas, bem como corpos de água artificiais em todo o mundo. O primeiro registro no Uruguai correspondente à água-viva foi feita em 1961, em duas fontes artificiais, sem mencionar a forma de pólipo. Embora existem relatórios locais de pólipos de outras espécies relacionados, informações sobre a forma bentônica de C. sowerbii ainda são escassas. Neste trabalho se relata a ocorrência de frústulas vivas, de indivíduos solitários, medusas e colônias de uma lagoa natural, em agosto de 2010, onde foi possível observar a morfologia e comportamento da fase de pólipo em cativeiro. Além disso, identificação molecular e observações sobre a potencial via de entrada da espécies são apresentados. Este é o primeiro registro no Uruguai de ambos estágios de vida de C. sowerbii em um corpo de água natural, Lagoa Del Medio (Dpto. De Florida), Uruguai.

Abstract The freshwater cnidarian Craspedacusta sowerbii Lankester 1880, has invaded lakes and ponds as well as artificial water bodies throughout the world. The first record in Uruguay corresponding to the jellyfish was made in 1961 in two artificial fountains, with no mention of the polyp form. Although local reports of other related polyp species have been made, information on the benthic form of C. sowerbii is lacking. Here we report the finding of live frustules, solitary individuals, medusae and colonies from a natural lagoon in August 2010, allowing us to observe the morphology and behavior of the polyp stage in captivity. In addition, molecular identification and remarks on the potencial path of introduction are presented. This is the first record in Uruguay of both polyp and medusa stages of C. sowerbii in a natural water body, Del Medio Lagoon (Dpto. de Florida), Uruguay.

Ribolla gialla is an autochthonous grape variety cultivated in Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy) and in Slovenia, and probably originated in Eastern Central Europe. Just like Ribolla gialla, the Gouais blanc and Schiava cultivars also appear to have originated in the same geographical area. To verify this hypothesis, a pool of varieties probably sharing the same historical and geographical origin were taken into account. The fingerprinting, by 35 SSR loci, of Gouais blanc, Ribolla gialla, Schiava grossa and Schiava lombarda (synonyms of Schiava bresciana), is presented and the correlation among historical, geographical and genetic information of these cultivars was investigated. Gouais blanc and Traminer, already suggested as key varieties in the development of European grape diversity and as parents for some French varieties, interestingly enough seems to be linked to Ribolla gialla. The putative parentage was verified using 58 microsatellite markers. The genetic results suggest a common geographical origin for Gouais blanc, Ribolla gialla and the Schiava group: these cultivars appear to be related through sympatric origin. The hypothesis of Ribolla gialla as a progeny of Gouais blanc and Traminer was ruled out. The data proved a second-degree relationship between Gouais blanc and Ribolla gialla and a third or more distant degree of relationships between Ribolla gialla and Traminer.

Dados morfométricos do pronoto, do elitra e do comprimento total de machos e fêmeas adultos de uma população do sul do Uruguai são apresentados. A primeira descrição e ilustrações do edeago e da espermateca são fornecidos. Em termos de comprimento total, as fêmeas são significativamente maiores do que os machos. O coeficiente de variação das medidas do edeago variou de 3,7% a 7,7%, e o da espermateca, de 4,1% a 11,2%. O melhor valor para o coeficiente de determinação foi obtido para a regressão recíproca (1/Y = a + bX) do comprimento total do edeago versus o comprimento do apex à região basal do lobo mediano.

Morphometrical data of pronotum, elytra, and total length of adult males and females of a Gratiana spadicea population from southern Uruguay are given. Descriptions and illustrations of aedeagus and spermatheca are provided for the first time. Females were significatively larger than males in total length. The coefficient of variation of the aedeagus measures ranged from 3.7% to 7.7%, and those of the spermatheca from 4.1% to 11.2%. The best value for the coefficient of determination was obtained for the reciprocal regression (1/Y = a + bX) of the total length of the aedeagus versus the length from the apex to the basal region of the median lobe.
