RESUMO: O glyphosate, herbicida mais utilizado na cultura do café, inibe indiretamente a rota de biossíntese de metabólitos secundários, responsáveis por estruturas e substâncias de defesa das plantas. Objetivou-se com este estudo avaliar a morfoanatomia foliar, fenóis totais, flavonoides e cafeína em folhas de café arábica submetidas a diferentes subdoses de glyphosate. Os tratamentos consistiram da combinação de três cultivares de café (MGS Travessia, Oeiras MG 6851 e Catuaí IAC 144) e cinco subdoses de glyphosate (0,0; 57,6; 115,2; 230,4 e 460,8 g e.a. ha-1). Aos 30 dias após a pulverização, avaliou-se a espessura total da lâmina foliar, espessura das epidermes adaxial e abaxial, parênquima paliçádico e lacunoso, além das concentrações de fenóis totais, flavonoides totais e cafeína. O cultivar Catuaí teve redução na espessura foliar total, enquanto os demais cultivares tiveram incremento. As epidermes adaxial e abaxial e o parênquima paliçádico reduziram em espessura e o parênquima lacunoso aumentou com o incremento das doses de glyphosate, independentemente do cultivar. Houve aumento de fenóis totais até 115,2 g ha-1 de glyphosate; acima desta dose as concentrações de fenóis foram reduzidas. Verificou-se redução de flavonoides até 115,2 g ha-1 nos cultivares Travessia e Oeiras; acima desta dose, a concentração de flavonides aumentou. O cultivar Catuaí teve comportamento contrário da concentração de flavonoides. Oeiras e Catuaí tiveram diminuição da cafeína até 115,2 g ha-1 de glyphosate e aumento em doses superiores. Travessia mostrou aumento de cafeína a partir de 115,2 g ha-1. Os três cultivares apresentaram maior concentração de fenóis no parênquima paliçádico após a aplicação da deriva de glyphosate. O glyphosate reduz a espessura das epidermes adaxial e abaxial e do parênquima paliçádico e aumenta a espessura de parênquima lacunoso. Doses acima de 230,4 g ha-1 de glyphosate resultam em redução da concentração de fenóis totais. A concentração de flavonoides e cafeína possui efeitos variados com aplicação de glyphosate.

ABSTRACT: The most widely used herbicide in coffee crop is glyphosate, it inhibits the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites, responsible for structures and substances of plant defense. This work aimed to evaluate the morphoanatomy, total phenols, flavonoids and caffeine in leaves of Arabica coffee submitted to different sub-doses of glyphosate. The treatments were combinations of three coffee cultivars (MGS Travessia, Oeiras MG 6851 and Catuaí IAC 144) and five sub-doses of glyphosate (0.0, 57.6, 115.2, 230.4 and 460.8 g a.e. ha-1). The total thickness of the leaf blade, thickness of adaxial and abaxial epidermis, palisade and spongy parenchyma, in addition to the total phenol, total flavonoids and caffeine were evaluated 30 days after spraying. Catuaí showed a reduction in the total leaf thickness, while the others cultivars had an increase. The thickness of adaxial and abaxial epidermis and palisade parenchyma was reduced, and the spongy parenchyma increased with increasing doses of glyphosate, regardless of the cultivars. There was an increase on the total phenols up to 115.2 g ha-1 glyphosate, and above this dose, the concentrations of phenols were reduced. The Travessia and Oeiras cultivars obtained a reduction of flavonoids up to 115.2 g ha-1; and above this dose, the concentration of flavonoids increased. The Catuaí cultivar showed an opposing behavior of the concentration of flavonoids. Oeiras and Catuaí showed a decrease of caffeine up to 115.2 g ha-1 and an increase at higher doses. Travessia showed an increase of caffeine in sub-doses above 115.2 g ha-1. The three cultivars showed a higher concentration of phenols in the palisade parenchyma after the application of glyphosate drift. Glyphosate reduces the thickness of the adaxial and abaxial epidermis and palisade parenchyma, and increases the thickness of spongy parenchyma. Doses of glyphosate above 230.4 g ha-1 result in the reduction of total phenols. The concentration of flavonoids and caffeine has varying effects with glyphosate application.

RESUMO O herbicida clomazone é altamente solúvel em água, fato que aumenta os riscos de lixiviação, acarretando contaminação de mananciais de água subterrâneas e cursos d’água, atingindo organismos não alvos, com possível degradação de matas ciliares. Objetivou-se neste trabalho investigar as possíveis modificações anatômicas do tecido foliar de mudas de 12 espécies arbóreas nativas do Brasil, cultivadas em solo contaminado por clomazone, com o intuito de caracterizar microscopicamente danos foliares causados pelo herbicida, bem como investigar se os danos estruturais precedem os danos visuais. Por meio de avaliações micromorfométricas, foram medidas, em secção transversal das folhas das espécies florestais, a espessura e a área ocupada pelos tecidos: epiderme adaxial e abaxial, parênquima paliçádico e parênquima lacunoso. Constatou-se que as espécies avaliadas foram afetadas pela presença do pesticida no solo, sendo a variável com maiores alterações negativas o parênquima lacunoso. Entre as espécies, Inga marginata, Schizolobium parahyba e Handroantus serratifolius apresentaram maior tolerância ao herbicida, demonstrando potencial para estudos sobre o mecanismo pelo qual estas plantas exercem essa tolerância. De modo geral, os resultados obtidos permitem afirmar que as espécies florestais estudadas apresentam alterações relevantes na anatomia foliar em resposta à presença de resíduos do herbicida clomazone no solo, mesmo em folhas sem injúrias visíveis.

ABSTRACT Herbicide clomazone is highly soluble in water, which increases the risk of leaching, resulting in contamination of sources of groundwater and waterways, affecting non-target organisms, with possible degradation of riparian areas. The objective of this work was to investigate the possible anatomical modifications of the leaf tissue of twelve arborescent species native to Brazil grown in soil contaminated by clomazone, in order to microscopically characterize leaf damage caused by the herbicide, and investigate whether the structural damage precedes visible damage. Through micro morphometrics, the thickness and the area occupied by the tissues were measured in a cross section of the leaves of the forest species: adaxial and abaxial epidermis, palisade and spongy parenchyma. It has been found that the species evaluated were affected by the presence of the pesticide in the soil, and the variable with the largest negative changes was the spongy parenchyma. Among the species, Inga marginata, Schizolobium parahyba and Handroantus. serratifolius had higher tolerance to the herbicide, demonstrating potential for studies on the mechanism by which these plants exert such tolerance. Overall, the results revealed that the forest species studied demonstrate significant alterations in leaf anatomy in response to the presence of residues of herbicide clomazone in the soil, even in leaves with no visible lesions.

Nectários são comuns dentre as Leguminosae, estando freqüentemente localizados nas folhas. Objetivou-se caracterizar anatomicamente o caule, a folha e o nectário extrafloral de Chamaecrista trichopoda, bem como investigar a natureza química do secretado do nectário dessa espécie. As amostras foram submetidas a testes histoquímicos e técnicas usuais em anatomia vegetal, sendo analisadas ao microscópio de luz e eletrônico de varredura. Os folíolos são anfiestomáticos e dorsiventrais, apresentando feixes vasculares colaterais com fibras associadas. Nas células da bainha do feixe é comum a ocorrência de monocristais. Tricomas tectores unisseriados e multicelulares ocorrem na lâmina foliar e no caule. O caule apresenta epiderme unisseriada, com três a quatro camadas de colênquima subepidérmico, seguido internamente por duas a três camadas de colênquima. Na camada mais interna do córtex destacam-se idioblastos cristalíferos contendo monocristais, o feixe vascular é delimitado por fibras e a medula é parenquimática. As características anatômicas foliares e caulinares corroboram os dados existentes para a subfamília Caesalpinioideae. O nectário situa-se na parte adaxial do pecíolo e apresenta coloração alaranjada, com o ápice formando uma concavidade, bordas levemente abauladas e pedúnculo com cerca de 1 mm de altura. É comum a ocorrência de pequenas aberturas na superfície do nectário e hifas fúngicas na fase pós-secretora. Anatomicamente, confirmou-se uma estrutura semelhante à de um nectário, o qual é vascularizado por floema e xilema; o parênquima nectarífero ocorre abaixo da epiderme que apresenta cutícula espessa. Caracteres anatômicos do nectário podem auxiliar na taxonomia do gênero. As análises histoquímicas evidenciaram o acúmulo de tanino nas células do parênquima nectarífero, que pode funcionar como uma proteção à herbivoria. Observou-se a presença de poros na superfície do nectário, que podem ser sítios preferenciais de eliminação do néctar. Entretanto, futuras análises ao microscópio eletrônico de transmissão serão fundamentais para elucidar o processo de eliminação do néctar.

Nectaries are common among the Leguminosae, being frequently located in the leaves. The aim of this work was to anatomically characterize the stem, leaf and extrafloral nectary of Chamaecrista trichopoda, as well as to histochemically investigate the composition of the nectary secretion of this species. The samples were submitted to histochemical tests and usual plant anatomy techniques and analyzed through light microscope and scanning electron microscope. The leaflets are amphistomatic, dorsiventral, with collateral bundles and present associated fibers. It is common the occurrence of monocrystals in the bundle sheath cells. Uniseriate and multicellular tector trichomes occur in foliar lamina and stem. The stem presents uniseriate epidermis. Below the epidermis, three to four layers of collenchyma are observed, followed by two to three layers of chlorenchyma. In the most internal layers of the cortex, crystalliferous idioblasts containing monocrystals are observed, and the bundle sheath is delimited by fibers and the pith is parenchymatic. The leaf and stem anatomy characteristics corroborate with the existing Caesalpinioideae subfamily data. The nectary is pedunculate, around 1mm high and located in the adaxial part of the petiole, presenting an orange-like color, with the apex forming a concavity and the borders slightly rounded. It is common the occurrence of small openings on the surface of the nectary and fungi hyphae in the post-secretory phase. Anatomically, a nectary structure was confirmed. The nectary is vascularized by phloem and xylem with the nectariferous parenchyma occurring below the epidermis, which presents a thick cuticle. Anatomic characters may help study genus taxonomy. Histochemical analyses evidence the accumulation of tannins in the cells of the nectariferous parenchyma, likely functioning as a protection against herbivore. It was observed on the nectary surface the presence of pores, which may be preferential sites of nectar elimination. However, further analyses using transmission electronic microscope are fundamental to elucidate the process of nectar elimination.
