ABSTRACT For the first time, Ricolla pallidinervis (Stål, 1859) and Rocconota tuberculigera (Stål, 1862) (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) were registered feeding on adults of Oebalus insularis (Stål, 1872) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) in the buffer area of Darien National Park, Darien Province, Panama. Adults and nymphs of O. insularis are considered one of the main pests in rice crops in Panama. This study highlights the role of protected areas as environmental services that serve as natural reservoirs for reported Harpactorinae species.

RESUMEN Por primera vez, Ricolla pallidinervis (Stål, 1859) y Rocconota tuberculigera (Stål, 1862) (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) fueron registrados alimentándose de adultos de la especie Oebalus insularis (Stål, 1872) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) en la zona de amortiguamiento del Parque Nacional Darien, Provincia de Darién, Panamá. Los adultos y ninfas de O. insularis son considerados una de las principales plagas en el cultivo de arroz en Panamá. Este estudio destaca el papel de las áreas protegidas como servicios ambientales, y que además sirven como reservorios naturales para las especies de Harpactorinae reportadas.

Abstract The introduction of alien species can carry negative consequences to the areas in which they appear. Early detection of introduced species is key if management practices are to be effectively implemented. Here, based on specimens from collections and citizen science observations, we document the recent introduction of two alien Heteroptera (Insecta: Hemiptera) species in Colombia: Brachyplatys subaenus (Westwood, 1837) (Plataspidae) and Thaumastocoris peregrinusCarpintero & Dellapé, 2006 (Thaumastocoridae). Brachyplatys subaenus was found in two localities (Bolívar and Valle del Cauca), whereas T. peregrinus was found in a single locality (Bogotá) so far. Future research activities should establish the geographic range of these species, as well as document their host plant associations, in Colombia.

RESUMEN Piesmatidae Amyot y Serville, es un grupo de hemípteros fitófagos relativamente pequeños (menos de 5 mm) con una amplia distribución en el mundo. Se registra para Colombia por primera vez la presencia de la familia Piesmatidae con la especie Parapiesma cinereum (Say). Los especímenes fueron recolectados en Sincelejo - Sucre (Caribe colombiano) en plantas de la familia Amaranthaceae.

ABSTRACT Piesmatidae Amyot and Serville, are relatively small phytophagous hemipterans (less than 5 mm) with a wide world distribution. We record for the first time the family for Colombia, with the species Parapiesma cinereum (Say). The specimens were collected in Sincelejo - Sucre (Caribbean coast) on plants of the family Amaranthaceae.

Abstract We address and discuss some of the many flaws exhibited by Costa et al. (2019) which tried to explain the twig-like camouflage of Cladomorphus phyllinus. Given the lack of both empirical and theoretical underpinnings in Costa et al. (2019), we call into question the validity of their conclusions, in particular, that horizontal gene transfer is a causal mechanism for the camouflage in C. phyllinus.

RESUMEN Monalonion velezangeli Carvalho and Costa (Hemiptera: Miridae) es un mírido polífago reconocido como una de las especies plaga más importantes del café y el aguacate en regiones rurales de Colombia. M. velezangeli es reportado por primera vez en áreas verdes urbanas en la cordillera de los Andes en la ciudad de Bogotá (Colombia). Los especímenes fueron recolectados en ocho especies de árboles plantados en la ciudad, de los cuales cinco representan nuevas asociaciones de M. velezangeli. La especie Schinus molle L. (Anacardiaceae) es por primera vez reportada como nueva planta hospedera afectada por M. velezangeli bajo las condiciones urbanas.

ABSTRACT Monalonion velezangeli Carvalho and Costa (Hemiptera: Miridae) is a polyphagous plant bug recognized as one of the most important pest species of coffee and avocado in rural regions of Colombia. M. velezangeli is reported for the first time in green urban areas in the high Andean city of Bogotá (Colombia). Specimens were collected on eight species of urban trees planted in the city, of which five represent new plant associations for M. velezangeli. The plant species Schinus molle L. (Anacardiaceae) is for the first time reported as new host plant damaged by M. velezangeli under urban conditions.

Phimophorus spissicornis, el enigmático representante exclusivamente neotropical de Phimophorinae (Heteroptera: Reduviidae), se registra por primera vez para Colombia. Seis especimenes adultos y una ninfa fueron recolectados en los municipios de Vegachí y San Carlos, departamento de Antioquia. En ambas localidades P. spissicornis fue recolectado en palmas (Arecaceae) en asociación con Rhodnius pallescens (Reduviidae: Triatominae). Phimophorus spissicornis se encontró en las brácteas de las palmas Attalea butyracea y Oenocarpus bataua. Se presentan imágenes del hábito en vista dorsal para macho, hembra y último instar de P. spissicornis

Phimophorus spissicornis, the enigmatic and exclusively Neotropical representative of the Phimophorinae (Heteroptera: Reduviidae), is recorded for the first time from Colombia. Six adult specimens and one nymph were collected in the municipalities of Vegachí and San Carlos, department of Antioquia. In both localities P. spissicornis was collected from palms (Arecaceae) in associatión with Rhodnius pallescens (Reduviidae: Triatominae). Phimophorus spissicornis was found on the axils of palm fronds of Attalea butyracea and Oenocarpus bataua. Dorsal habitus illustrations of the male, female, and late instar nymph of P. spissicornis are provided.

In this article the main phylogenetic hypotheses for Hemiptera and its subgroups are reviewed. Important references regarding catalogs and identification aids are provided for the major groups, making emphasis in recent online tools.
