Abstract This article presents evidences that there is an ongoing cycle of evictions in the Tucunduba River basin, in the Brazilian city of Belém (PA), where urbanization work has been taken place over several years, which has caused an increasing number of displaced families. It is understood that the housing provision shortage has led to an increase in cases of judicialization, which thereby contributes to further irregular occupations and, thus, a continuation of precariousness and informality. The reasons that contribute to the situation have been classified into four groups: operational/planning; political/administrative; ideological; and extra-legal. Empirical and documentary sources, interviews with technicians from public bodies and with the population threatened by eviction, and an analysis of the judicial processes demonstrate that while evictions intensify the condition of vulnerability of the families, they also serve to maintain structures that support peripheral capitalism.

Resumo Este artigo apresenta evidências de que existe um ciclo de remoções em curso na Bacia do Tucunduba, em Belém (PA), onde obras de urbanização se prolongam há anos, implicando um número crescente de famílias deslocadas. Compreende-se que a falta de provisão habitacional para as famílias removidas a partir de casos judicializados colabora para que novas ocupações irregulares ocorram e para que a precariedade e a informalidade se perpetuem. Os fatores que contribuem para a construção desse quadro foram organizados em quatro grupos: operacionais/de planejamento; político/administrativos; ideológicos; e extralegais. Fontes empíricas e documentais, entrevistas com técnicos de órgãos públicos e com a população ameaçada de remoção e análises de processos judiciais mostram que as remoções, ao mesmo tempo que aprofundam a condição de vulnerabilidade das famílias, servem para manter estruturas funcionais para a periferia do capitalismo.

ABSTRACT: The perception of the learning process is shaped by individual experiences and related to the academic environment. This article aimed to evaluate the perception of the educational environment of medical students linked to the peer-mentoring group GEDAAM (Study Group on Didactics Applied to Medical Learning) at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. The data come from a cross-sectional study with 129 members of GEDAAM. The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) scale was used to assess the perception of the educational environment. Descriptive and comparative analyses were performed (Chi-square test). For almost all assessed domains, the students' perception was more positive than negative (Global score = 108.41). The longer the length of stay at GEDAAM, the worse the Global perception of the educational environment. It is suggested that participating in GEDAAM contributes to a more critical view of the medical teaching environment.

RESUMEN: La percepción del proceso de aprendizaje está conformada por experiencias individuales y relacionada con el entorno académico. Este artículo tuvo como objetivo evaluar la percepción del entorno educativo de los estudiantes de medicina vinculados al grupo de mentoría entre pares GEDAAM (Grupo de Estudio de Didáctica Aplicada al Aprendizaje de la Medicina) de la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais. Los datos provienen de un estudio transversal con 129 miembros de GEDAAM. Se utilizó la escala Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) para evaluar la percepción del entorno educativo. Se realizaron análisis descriptivos y comparativos (prueba de Chi-cuadrado). Para casi todos los dominios evaluados, la percepción de los estudiantes fue más positiva que negativa (puntuación global = 108,41). Cuanto más tiempo se pasa en GEDAAM, peor es la percepción global del entorno educativo. Se sugiere que la participación en el GEDAAM contribuya a una visión más crítica del entorno de la enseñanza médica.

RESUMO: A percepção do processo de aprendizagem é moldada por experiências individuais e relacionadas ao meio acadêmico. Este artigo objetivou avaliar a percepção do ambiente educacional de estudantes de medicina ligados ao grupo de mentoria entre pares GEDAAM (Grupo de Estudos em Didática Aplicada ao Aprendizado da Medicina) da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Os dados são provenientes de estudo transversal com 129 membros do GEDAAM. A escala Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) foi utilizada para avaliar a percepção do ambiente educacional. Foram realizadas análises descritivas e comparativas (Teste Qui-quadrado). Para quase todos os Domínios avaliados, a percepção dos estudantes foi mais positiva do que negativa (escore Global = 108,41). Quanto maior o tempo de permanência no GEDAAM, pior a percepção Global do ambiente educacional. Sugere-se que participar do GEDAAM contribua para uma visão mais crítica do ambiente de ensino de medicina.

Abstract Objective: to estimate the prevalence of non-communicable chronic diseases (NCD) and investigate factors associated with chronic multimorbidities among workers from the municipal health network. Methods: cross-sectional study involving basic health care professionals from Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The data were collected by an interview applying validated instruments. The studied population’s individual characteristics, habits and lifestyle, health and work conditions were identified. Logistics regression was used to build the multivariate models. Results: 203 of the 257 eligible workers participated in this research, 144 women and 59 men. The most prevalent morbidities were: overweight (27.0%), hypertension (17.2%) and depression/stress (16.2%). The presence of multimorbidities (28.6%) was significantly associated to age over 48 years old (odds ratio - OR: 4,28; confidence interval of 95% - 95%CI: 1.66;11.04), to the presence of common mental disorders (OR: 3.23; 95%CI: 1.50;6.96), whereas the adequate social support at work remained as a protection factor (OR: 0.25; 95%CI: 0.11;0.57). Conclusion: the presence of multimorbidities was associated with older age, presence of common mental disorders, and work organizational characteristics.

Resumo Objetivo: estimar a prevalência de doenças crônicas não transmissíveis (DCNT) e investigar fatores associados a multimorbidades crônicas entre trabalhadores da rede de saúde municipal. Métodos: estudo transversal com profissionais da atenção básica à saúde de Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brasil. Os dados foram coletados por entrevista com aplicação de instrumentos validados. Houve identificação das características individuais, hábitos e estilo de vida, estado de saúde e condições de trabalho da população estudada. Utilizou-se regressão logística para construção de modelos multivariáveis. Resultados: participaram da pesquisa 203 dos 257 trabalhadores elegíveis, 144 do sexo feminino e 59 do masculino. As morbidades mais prevalentes foram: sobrepeso (27,0%), hipertensão (17,2%) e depressão/estresse (16,2%). A presença de multimorbidades (28,6%) foi significativamente associada à idade superior a 48 anos (Odds ratio - OR: 4,28; intervalo de confiança de 95% - IC95%: 1,66;11,04), à presença de transtornos mentais comuns (OR: 3,23; IC95%: 1,50;6,96), enquanto o apoio social adequado no trabalho permaneceu como fator de proteção (OR: 0,25; IC95%: 0,11;0,57). Conclusão: a presença de multimorbidades foi associada a maior idade, presença de transtornos mentais comuns e características organizacionais do trabalho.

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the effect of colostrum therapy on days to start a suckling diet in newborns diagnosed with simple gastroschisis. Methods: Randomized clinical trial with newborns diagnosed with simple gastroschisis at a federal hospital in Rio de Janeiro who were randomized to receive oropharyngeal administration of 0.2mL of colostrum or a “sham procedure” during the first 3 days of life. The analysis included clinical outcomes such as days without food, days with parenteral feeding, days until the start of enteral feeding, days to reach complete enteral feeding, sepsis and length of hospital stay. Results: The onset of oral feeding (suction) in patients with simple gastroschisis in both groups occurred at a median of 15 days. Conclusion: The present study showed that there were no significant differences in the use of colostrum therapy and the number of days to the start of enteral feeding and suction diet between groups of newborns with simple gastroschisis.

RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar o efeito da colostroterapia em dias para iniciar a dieta por sucção em recém-nascidos com diagnóstico de gastrosquise simples. Métodos: Ensaio clínico randomizado com recém-nascidos diagnosticados com gastrosquise simples em um hospital federal no Rio de Janeiro que foram randomizados para receber administração orofaríngea de 0,2mL de colostro ou “procedimento simulado”, nos primeiros 3 dias de vida. A análise incluiu desfechos clínicos, como dias sem alimentação, dias com alimentação parenteral, dias para iniciar a alimentação enteral, dias para atingir a alimentação completa, sepse e tempo de internação. Resultados: O início da alimentação por via oral (sucção) na gastrosquise simples, em ambos os grupos, ocorreu com mediana de 15 dias. Conclusão: O presente estudo mostrou que não há diferenças significativas no uso de colostroterapia em dias para início de alimentação enteral e dieta por sucção entre grupos de recém-nascidos com gastrosquise simples.

This research was aimed to obtain biodegradable polymeric films with antifungal action against Aspergillus niger, through the addition of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) in the commercial polymer (Ecoflex®) and to evaluate its mechanical, morphological, biodegradation, and copper release properties. The microbiological results showed that the films with 4 wt% CuO-NPs inhibited 97.57% the growth of the fungus growth of 1×105 spores·mL-1 compared to the control. The morphological characterization revealed that the CuO-NPs presented irregular form with particles size of 50 to 400 nm and the XRD showed characteristic peaks of copper oxide. The addition of CuO-NPs to Ecoflex® provided increased maximum and rupture tension, strain, and elasticity modulus the obtained films with 1 wt% CuO-NPs and did not alter the biodegradability of the films. It can be said that, through the addition of CuO-NPs to Ecoflex®, it was possible to add antifungal activity for Aspergillus niger without compromising its biodegradability, meeting the safety standards established by legislation regarding the release of copper.

Abstract Background The mortality rate of Brazilian people with haemophilia (PwH) is decreasing, but the relative incidence of deaths associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) is increasing. Objectives We aimed to describe the CVD risk score of PwH according to Pooled Cohort Equations Risk (PCER) Calculator tool and its treatment recommendations. We also compared the PCER estimates with the respective Framingham Risk Score (FRS). Methods This cross-sectional study included male PwH ≥ 40 years treated at the Comprehensive Haemophilia Treatment Centre of Pernambuco (Recife/Brazil). PwH with a previous CVD event or a low-density lipid cholesterol ≥ 5.0 mmol/L were excluded. Interviews, medical file reviews, and blood tests were performed. The PCER tool was used to estimate the CVD risk and compare it with the respective FRS. A p-value < 0.05 was accepted as statistically significant. Results Thirty PwH were included. Median age was 51.5 [interquartile range-IQR; 46.0-59.5] years. The prevalence of obesity, systemic arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypertriglyceridaemia, hypercholesterolaemia, and hypoHDLaemia were 20%, 67%, 24%, 14%, 47%, and 23%, respectively. The median PCER score was 6.9% [IQR; 3.1-13.2], with 50% having a high risk (PCER ≥ 7.5%). Statin use was suggested for 54% of PwH. Blood pressure was poorly controlled in 47% of PwH. The agreement between PCER and FRS was 80% (κ = 0.60; p = 0.001). Conclusions Half of the male people with haemophilia aged 40 years or older had a 10-year high risk of developing CVD with strong recommendations to improve control of dyslipidaemia and blood pressure.

Resumo Fundamento A taxa de mortalidade de pessoas com hemofilia (PCH) no Brasil está diminuindo, mas a incidência relativa de mortes associadas a doenças cardiovasculares (DCV) tem aumentado. Objetivos Nosso objetivo foi descrever o escore de risco de DCV de PCHs de acordo com a ferramenta Pooled Cohort Equations Risk (PCER) Calculator e suas recomendações de tratamento. Além disso, foram comparadas as estimativas da PCER com o respectivo escore de risco de Framingham (FRS). Métodos Este estudo transversal incluiu PCHs do sexo masculino, com idade igual ou superior a 40 anos, tratados no Centro de Tratamento Integral de Hemofilia de Pernambuco (Recife/Brasil). PCHs com um evento cardiovascular prévio ou colesterol lipídico de baixa densidade ≥ 5,0 mmol/L foram excluídas. Entrevistas, revisões de prontuários médicos e exames de sangue foram realizados. A ferramenta PCER foi utilizada para estimar o risco de DCV e compará-lo com o respectivo FRS. Um valor de p < 0,05 foi aceito como estatisticamente significativo. Resultados Trinta PCHs foram incluídas. A idade mediana foi de 51,5 [intervalo interquartil-IIQ; 46,0-59,5] anos. A prevalência de obesidade, hipertensão arterial sistêmica, diabetes mellitus, hipertrigliceridemia, hipercolesterolemia e hipoHDLemia foi de 20%, 67%, 24%, 14%, 47% e 23%, respectivamente. O escore mediano da PCER foi de 6,9% [IIQ; 3,1-13,2], com 50% de alto risco (PCER ≥ 7,5%). O uso de estatina foi sugerido para 54% das PCHs. A pressão arterial estava mal controlada em 47% das PCHs. A concordância entre PCER e FRS foi de 80% (κ = 0,60; p = 0,001). Conclusões Metade dos homens com hemofilia, com 40 anos de idade ou mais, teve um alto risco de desenvolver DCV em 10 anos, com fortes recomendações para melhorar o controle da dislipidemia e da pressão arterial.

ABSTRACT Innovation Management Systems (IMS) have been widely discussed in specialized literature and organizational practice for many years, given their importance for companies to innovate regularly. In parallel, the debate on Digital Transformation (DT) has rapidly emerged, albeit with a distributed nature across various domains (e.g., management, information systems, Industry 4.0), bringing a wealth of perspectives and complexity to understanding the phenomenon. Although both fields are closely related to the dynamics of innovation within companies, an integrated debate is still in its early stages, and the areas continue to follow independent paths. Thus, this study aims to identify points of intersection between IMS and DT and investigates how elements from these approaches can mutually support each other. To this end, we conducted a literature review in each knowledge area and selected the representative models of their constituent parts. After analysis and discussion, we propose a visual model to express potential mutual connections. The main conclusion is that an IMS can guide DT initiatives within the organization by designing structures and processes to deal with highly uncertain projects. On the other hand, one can associate DT with a set of technological tools and organizational trends that can foster enhanced IMSs.

RESUMO Sistemas de Gestão da Inovação (SGI) têm sido debatidos há muitos anos na literatura especializada e na prática das organizações, dada a importância para as empresas de inovar regularmente. Em paralelo, o debate da Transformação Digital (TD) tem emergido de forma acelerada, mas bastante distribuída entre várias vertentes (e.g., gestão, sistemas de informação, indústria 4.0) trazendo riqueza de perspectivas, mas também complexidade para compreensão do fenômeno. Embora ambos os campos se relacionem fortemente com a dinâmica da inovação nas empresas, um debate integrado ainda é incipiente e as áreas seguem trajetórias de estudo paralelas. Assim, este estudo busca identificar pontos de intercessão entre SGI e TD e investiga como elementos dessas abordagens podem se apoiar mutuamente. Para isso, é feita uma revisão de literatura em cada uma das áreas de conhecimento, selecionados modelos representativos de seus elementos constituintes e, em uma fase de análise e discussão, se propõe um modelo que expresse as conexões mútuas potenciais. Como principal conclusão, aponta-se que um SGI pode nortear iniciativas de TD na organização por meio do desenho de estrutura e processos para lidar com projetos de alta incerteza; por outro lado, a TD associa-se a um conjunto de ferramentas tecnológicas e tendências organizacionais que podem fomentar SGIs aprimorados.

ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the effect of 12 weeks of rehearsals on cardiorespiratory parameters and body composition in Brazilian samba dancers belonging to a first-league samba school. Methods Twenty-six women were divided into a Samba Group (n=13) and a Control Group (n=13). Cardiorespiratory parameters (cardiopulmonary exercise test) and body composition (skinfold assessment) were assessed before and after the 12 weeks of rehearsals. The Samba Group rehearsed three times per week for 30–60 minutes, and the Control Group participated in no physical activity. A comparison test was performed within and between groups, with p<0.05 indicating statistical significance. Results Compared with the Control Group, the Samba Group showed a significant increase in maximal oxygen uptake (19%), oxygen pulse (13%), and lean body mass (3%) and a decrease in body fat percentage (11%) and fat mass (12%). Conclusion Twelve weeks of samba dance rehearsals improved the cardiorespiratory and body composition parameters in women dancers compared with the Control Group. These findings suggest that dancing samba regularly can increase physical activity levels and positively affect the health parameters of samba dancers.

Abstract This publication is an update of the “Consensus on the therapeutic management of atopic dermatitis - Brazilian Society of Dermatology” published in 2019, considering the novel, targeted-oriented systemic therapies for atopic dermatitis. The initial recommendations of the current consensus for systemic treatment of patients with atopic dermatitis were based on a recent review of scientific published data and a consensus was reached after voting. The Brazilian Society of Dermatology invited 31 experts from all regions of Brazil and 2 international experts on atopic dermatitis who fully contributed to the process. The methods included an e-Delphi study to avoid bias, a literature search and a final consensus meeting. The authors added novel approved drugs in Brazil and the indication for phototherapy and systemic therapy for AD. The therapeutical response to systemic treatment is hereby reported in a suitable form for clinical practice and is also part of this updated manuscript.

ABSTRACT Recent data from meta-analyses of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) suggest that dietary intake of coconut oil, rich in saturated fatty acids, does not result in cardiometabolic benefits, nor in improvements in anthropometric, lipid, glycemic, and subclinical inflammation parameters. Nevertheless, its consumption has surged in recent years all over the world, a phenomenon which can possibly be explained by an increasing belief among health professionals that this oil is as healthy as, or perhaps even healthier than, other oils, in addition to social network misinformation spread. RESUMO: Nas últimas décadas pesquisas voltadas à irrigação de precisão, impulsionadas pelas mudanças climáticas, desenvolveram uma infinidade de estratégias, métodos e tecnologias para reduzir o consumo de água em projetos de irrigação, para adaptação à crescente ocorrência de escassez de água, secas agrícolas e competição entre os setores agrícolas e industriais pelo uso da água. Nesta conjuntura, a adoção de práticas de economia e aplicação de água, implica em uma abordagem multidisciplinar para a quantificação precisa das necessidades de água das culturas, sob diversas práticas de disponibilidade e manejo da água. Dessa forma, este artigo de revisão tem como objetivo apresentar uma revisão sobre as tecnologias e novas tendências no contexto da irrigação de precisão, as perspectivas futuras e analisar criticamente noções e meios para manter altos índices de produtividade da terra e da água, que minimizem o consumo de água irracional a nível de campo. ABSTRACT: In recent decades, research on precision irrigation driven by climate change has developed a multitude of strategies, methods and technologies to reduce water consumption in irrigation projects and to adapt to the increasing occurrence of water scarcity, agricultural droughts and competition between agricultural and industrial sectors for the use of water. In this context, the adoption of water-saving and application practices implies a multidisciplinary approach to accurately quantify the water needs of crops under different water availability and management practices. Objectives: Children of depressed mothers are at risk of developing mental health problems. We sought to determine whether treatment for maternal depression by community-based health workers would decrease behavioral/emotional symptoms in their children. Interventions for maternal depressive symptoms in a low/middle-income country can have a high global impact. Methods: Community-based health workers were trained to deliver a psychosocial intervention for mothers with depression in a primary care setting. A total of 49 mothers and 60 children were assessed pre-intervention, post-intervention, and at 6 months follow-up. Child behavioral/emotional symptoms were evaluated according to type of change in maternal depressive symptoms: response or remission. Results: An overall decrease in maternal depressive symptoms from baseline to post-intervention and 6 months follow-up were found. Response or remission was associated with better outcomes in child behavioral/emotional symptoms at 6 months follow-up (p = 0.0247, Cohen’s d: 0.76; p = 0.0224, Cohen’s f: 0.44) but not at post-intervention (p = 0.1636, Cohen’s d: 0.48; p = 0.0720, Cohen’s f: 0.33). Conclusions: Improvement in maternal depression was related to decreased behavioral/emotional symptoms in their children. Our results suggest that providing interventions for maternal depression in primary care is a viable strategy to prevent behavioral/emotional symptoms in the next generation. ABSTRACT This work aimed to evaluate the efficacy of fungicides for controlling anthracnose (Colletotrichum gloeosporioides) on peach palm (Bactris gasipaesvar.gasipaes) seedlings in nursery beds and in newly planted peach palms in the field. The nursery experiment included two fungicide combinations: [thiophanate-methyl + chlorothalonil (TM + C) and pyraclostrobin + epoxiconazole (P + E)], three application intervals (7, 14, and 21 days), and an additional nontreated control. The two field experiments with newly planted peach palms tested the fungicide combinations TM + C at 15-day intervals for 12 months after transplanting, comparing to the control without fungicide application. The severity of anthracnose was assessed, and it was used for calculating the area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC). The fungicides TM + C and E + P applied at 7-days intervals were effective in the control of anthracnose in peach palm seedlings, resulting in the lowest severities and AUDPC. The fungicide TM + C reduced the maximum disease severity and AUDPC under field conditions. However, differences in the final severity of anthracnose and stem diameter were not significant compared to the control. Therefore, the use of fungicides for control of anthracnose in the field is not necessary.

Resumo Objetivou-se verificar a composição florístico-estrutural das plântulas regenerantes a partir do banco de sementes de três áreas em recuperação pós-distúrbios antrópicos, em ambientes alto-montanos do Parque Nacional de São Joaquim. As áreas 1 (A1) e 2 (A2) foram originadas da regeneração após o corte de remanescentes florestais e a área 3 (A3) foi originada da regeneração de campo nativo após práticas de pastoreio. As três áreas encontram-se protegidas há quase dez anos após a finalização dos distúrbios. Foram instaladas transecções de 20 × 100 m em cada área, subdivididas em 20 parcelas de 10 × 10 m, nas quais foram coletadas amostras de solos e serapilheira, totalizando 60 amostras. Os materiais coletados foram conduzidos à casa de vegetação, onde foram submetidos ao mesmo tratamento, com irrigação diária por aspersão. Foi realizada a avaliação quali-quantitativa mensal das plântulas emergentes, identificando-as e classificando-as quanto à origem (nativa ou exótica) e às formas de vida. Foram amostradas 5.604 plântulas, distribuídas em 62 táxons. Houve predominância de espécies herbáceas (74,2%) e nativas (67,7%), sendo Cyperus odoratus L. e Juncus capillaceus Lam. as mais abundantes. As áreas originadas a partir de desmatamentos apresentaram maior heterogeneidade de espécies e hábitos e maior densidade de plântulas regenerantes do banco de sementes, quando comparado com a área de Campo de Altitude. Conclui-se que o banco de sementes das áreas alto-montanas estudadas apresenta potencial de colonização imediata após distúrbios, com elevada riqueza e densidade de espécies herbáceas, que garantem o recobrimento do solo e, assim, o início e o suporte necessário para o avanço da dinâmica sucessional.

Abstract We aimed to verify the floristic-structural composition of regenerative seedlings of seed banks from areas under anthropic post-disturbance restoration process, in “Planalto Sul Catarinense” region, upper-montane environments. In each of three sites (Area 1, 2 and 3) at São Joaquim National Park, protected for almost ten years, but with different land-use history, we allocated one 20 x 100 m transect, sub-divided in 20 plots, where a total of 60 samples of soil and litter were collected. While the Areas 1 (A1) and 2 (A2) were originally covered by natural forest, the Area 3 (A3) can be considered as cattle raising grassland. In a greenhouse, all the collected material was submitted to the same procedure, with daily sprinkler irrigation. After the seed germination in trays, we performed a monthly qualitative and quantitative evaluation of emergent seedlings that were identified and classified according to origin (native and exotic) and life form. In one year, 5,604 seedlings were counted, belonging to 62 taxa. There was predominance of herbs (74.2%) and native species (67.7%), being Cyperus odoratus L. and Juncus capillaceus Lam. the most abundant. When compared to the original grassland area, those originated from past deforestation showed a greater species and life form heterogeneity as well as greater seedling density emergence from the collected seed bank. We concluded that the studied seed banks have the potential to support a prompt seedling colonization after disturbances, ensuring the soil cover, and thus, the necessary initial support for the advance of successional dynamics.
