RESUMO Objetivo: analisar o estilo de liderança ressonante entre enfermeiros gestores na perspectiva de enfermeiros e enfermeiros gestores. Método: estudo transversal conduzido em um hospital na Guiana. Participaram do estudo 171 enfermeiros e enfermeiros gestores. Os dados foram coletados de julho a outubro de 2020 por meio da escala de liderança ressonante e de um questionário sociodemográfico. Resultados: Na versão autorreportada, os enfermeiros pontuaram 38,9 e os gestores 41,6 (p=0,003). Os profissionais com até 30 de anos de idade tendem a se classificar com pontuações mais baixas do que profissionais entre 50 e 69 anos (p=0,046). Os gestores pontuaram 3,44 pontos a mais do que os enfermeiros na no escore total da versão autorreportada. Conclusão: a liderança ressonante é praticada em nível moderado e os gestores apresentam pontuações mais elevadas. Os gestores podem melhorar seu estilo de liderança.

ABSTRACT Objective: analyze Resonant Leadership style among the nurse managers from the perspective of nurse managers and nurses. Methods: cross-sectional study, carried out in a hospital in Guyana. Participants were 171 registered nurses and nurse managers. Data were collected from July to October 2020 using Resonant Leadership scale and a socio demographic questionnaire. Results: in self-version, the total leadership rating was 38.9 for nurses and 41.6 for managers (p=0.003). The age category at most 30 are more likely to give a low rating of themselves than the age category 50 - 69 (p = 0.046). Managers scored on average 3.44 points more than nurses for the self total leadership rating. Conclusion: resonant leadership is practiced at a moderate level and managers have higher scores. Nurse Managers can improve their leadership style.

RESUMEN Objetivo: analizar el estilo de Liderazgo Resonante entre enfermeros gestores, desde la perspectiva de enfermeros gestores y enfermeros. Métodos: estudio transversal, realizado en un hospital de Guyana. Los participantes fueron 171 enfermeros licenciados y enfermeros gestores. Los datos fueron recolectados de julio a octubre de 2020, mediante la escala de liderazgo resonante y de un cuestionario sociodemográfico. Resultados: en la versión de autoevaluaciónla calificación total del liderazgo fue de 38,9 para los enfermeros y 41,6 para los gestores (p=0,003). La categoría de edad de hasta 30 años tuvo más probabilidades de otorgar una calificación baja de sí mismos que la categoría de edad de 50 a 69 años (p = 0,046). En la versión de autoevaluación del liderazgo total, los gestores obtuvieron en promedio 3,44 puntos más que los enfermeros. Conclusión: el liderazgo resonante se practica en un nivel moderado y los gestores tuvieron puntuaciones más altas. Los enfermeros gestores pueden mejorar su estilo de liderazgo.

Resumo: A criação de um sistema de gestão para a geração de inovações de forma recorrente ainda é um desafio para as grandes empresas. Alguns autores defendem a constituição de uma função organizacional dedicada (i.e. Função Inovação – FI) para efetivar esse sistema. Este trabalho busca compreender como se dá a construção da Função Inovação em organizações de grande porte a partir de um Estudo de Caso longitudinal e retrospectivo. Discutem-se aspectos relacionados ao surgimento da FI, destacando a evolução de sua estrutura organizacional e as alterações em seu escopo de trabalho. Dentre os principais resultados, demonstra-se que a atuação de indivíduos-chave como pontos de conexão com outras instâncias organizacionais e a colaboração com agentes externos foram determinantes para o reconhecimento da FI pela organização. Além disso, o acúmulo de competências específicas, o ganho progressivo de legitimidade e a entrega de resultados intermediários habilitam esse time para lidar com projetos de inovação radical.

Abstract: The creation of a management system to systematically promote innovation is a great challenge for large companies. Some authors argue for the creation of a dedicated organizational function (the Innovation Function – IF) to guide this system. This paper aims to understand how a large company builds an Innovation Function from a longitudinal and retrospective case study. Some aspects regarding the emergence of the IF, its organizational structure evolution, and changes on its team’s scope of action are discussed. The main results highlight the importance of key actors for IF’s recognition by the organization, serving as connecting mediators to other functions and external agents. Besides that, specific competence accumulation, gradual legitimacy acquisition, and project intermediary results enabled the team to deal with radical innovation projects over time.

Abstract Aim: To verify the associations between organized physical activity out of school (PA) and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) with indicators of mental health in children. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, with a sample of 226 students (47% girls) of public school in the south of Brazil aged between 6 to 11 years-old (8.36 ± 1.46). The cardiorespiratory fitness was measured by running and walking-test in six minutes, following the procedures of the “Brazil Sports Project”. PA was evaluated through a question and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire assessed mental health indicators. Generalized linear regressions were used with a confidence interval of 95%. Results: Total difficulties (β = 2.691; 95%CI, 0.181 to 5.200) and emotional symptoms (β = 1.528; 95%CI, 0.609 to 2.448) were inversely associated with PA. Total difficulties (β = -0.013; 95%CI, -0.022 to -0.003), hyperactivity/attention deficit (β = -0.002; 95%CI, -0.010 to -0.002), and peer relationship problems (β = -0.002; 95%CI, -0.003 to -0.001) were associated with CRF in boys. Conclusion: A total of difficulties and emotional problems presented an inverse association with PA. Further, CRF was inversely associated with total difficulties, hyperactivity-inattention, and peer relationship problems.

Resumo Objetivou-se verificar a associação entre as características da estrutura da escola e a atividade física dos escolares na aula de educação física e no recreio. Estudo de associação com abordagem quantitativa. A amostra aleatória é composta por 176 escolares (71 meninos e 105 meninas) de 10 escolas estaduais de ensino médio da cidade de Passo Fundo-RS, Brasil. A atividade física foi avaliada com pedômetro, posterior a isso se calculou a média do número de passos na aula de educação física e no recreio. As características da estrutura da escola foram avaliadas por observação direta, com a ferramenta de auditoria na escola. Para análise dos dados utilizou-se estatística descritiva, test t independente e regressão linear generalizada. A média do número de passos entre os meninos foi maior quando comparados às meninas na aula de educação física (t=3,478; p<0,001; d cohen= 0,62) e no recreio (t=2,537; p<0,01; d cohen=0,45). O número de passos da aula de educação física não se associou com as características da estrutura da escola. No recreio, foi encontrada uma associação inversa, onde os meninos que estudavam nas escolas com estruturas de qualidade regular, realizaram em média 208,04 (IC 95%=16,44/399,65; p=0,03) passos a mais quando comparados aos meninos das escolas com estruturas de qualidade boa. As escolas que possuem maiores e/ou melhores estruturas, não necessariamente, influenciam os adolescentes na prática de atividade física no recreio e na aula de educação física.

Abstract The aim of this study was to verify the association between the characteristics of the school structure and the physical activity of students in the physical education class and school recess. This is an association study with quantitative approach. The random sample is composed of 176 schoolchildren (71 boys and 105 girls) from 10 schools of the city of Passo Fundo-RS, Brazil. Physical activity was evaluated with a pedometer, after which the average number of steps in the physical education class and school recess was calculated. The characteristics of the school structure were evaluated by direct observation, with the audit tool in the school. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test and generalized linear regression. The mean number of steps among boys was higher when compared to girls in the physical education class (t=3.478, p<0.001, d cohen=0.62) and in the school recess (t=2.537, p<0.01; d cohen=0.45). The number of steps in physical education class was not associated with the characteristics of the school structure. In the school recess, an inverse association was found, where boys enrolled in schools with regular quality structure performed on average 208.04 (95%CI=16.44/399.65; p=0.03) steps when compared to boys enrolled in schools with good quality structure. Schools that have bigger and/or better structure do not necessarily influence adolescents in the practice of physical activity in school recess and physical education classes.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o potencial de práticas culturais, adotadas na entressafra, para reduzir a população e os danos causados por Pratylenchus brachyurus em soja. Realizou-se um experimento em área naturalmente infestada, nas safras 2010/2011, 2011/2012 e 2012/2013, em Vera, MT. Os tratamentos foram: milheto (Pennisetum glaucum) 'ADR 7010' (2010/2011) e 'ADR 300' (nas entressafras seguintes); milho (Zea mays) 'BRS 1010' (2010/2011) e 'GNZ 2005' (nas entressafras seguintes); braquiária ruziziensis (Urochloa ruziziensis); capim-marandu (U. brizantha 'Marandu'); crotalária (Crotalaria ochroleuca); C. juncea; C. spectabilis; C. spectabilis + milheto 'ADR 300' (de 2011/2012 em diante); alqueive mecânico (duas gradagens + herbicida); pousio (sem controle de ervas daninhas); e testemunha (alqueive químico, com aplicação de herbicida). O alqueive mecânico, as crotalárias e C. spectabilis + milheto reduziram a população do nematoide antes da semeadura e nos estádios iniciais da soja. Após a colheita da soja, a população de nematoides não diferiu entre os tratamentos, o que indica que a multiplicação destes na cultura foi maior nos manejos com menor população inicial. O uso de C. spectabilis, milheto e C. spectabilis + milheto contribuíram para as maiores produtividades de soja. O cultivo de C. spectabilis, solteira ou consorciada ao milheto 'ADR 300', é a melhor opção para reduzir a população e os danos causados por P. brachyurus à soja na entressafra.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the potential of cultural practices, adopted during the soybean off-season, to reduce the Pratylenchus brachyurus population and damages to soybean. An experiment was carried out in a naturally-infested agricultural field, in the growing seasons of 2010/2011, 2011/2012, and 2012/2013, in the municipality of Vera, in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. The treatments were: 'ADR 7010' (2010/2011) and 'ADR 300' pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) (in the following off-seasons); 'BRS 1010' (2010/2011) and 'GNZ 2005' corn (Zea mays) (in the following off-seasons); Congo grass (Urochloa ruziziensis); 'Marandu' palisade grass (U. brizantha 'Marandu'); slender leaf rattlebox (Crotalaria ochroleuca); sunn hemp (C. juncea); showy rattlebox (C. spectabilis); C. spectabilis + 'ADR 300' pearl millet (from 2011/2012 onwards); fallow (weed control by two diskings + herbicide); fallow (without weed control); and control (fallow with weed control by herbicide). Fallow (two diskings + herbicide), rattlebox species, and C. spectabilis + pearl millet reduced the nematode population before planting and during the early soybean stages. After soybean harvest, the nematode population did not differ among treatments, which indicates that the nematode multiplication on the crop was higher in treatments with lower initial population. The use of C. spectabilis, pearl millet, and C. spectabilis + pearl millet favored higher soybean yields. The cultivation of C. spectabilis - alone or associated with 'ADR 300' pearl millet - is the best suitable option to reduce the P. brachyurus population and damages to soybean in the off-season.

Introdução: O envelhecimento causa prejuízos no sistema musculoesquelético que podem ocasionar a osteoartrite, provocando degeneração da cartilagem articular e, consequentemente, perdas funcionais a idosos acometidos. Por outro lado, a estimulação elétrica neuromuscular é utilizada como treinamento para fortalecimento muscular.Objetivo: Investigar o efeito de oito semanas de treinamento com neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) nas razões de ativação root mean square (RMS) / torque dos músculos extensores do joelho em idosas com osteoartrite. Metodologia: Vinte e quatro idosas foram divididas em dois grupos: grupo saudável (SAU; n=12) e grupo osteoartrite (OA; n=12). O grupo OA foi submetido a oito semanas de treinamento com NMES e tempo de aplicação variando de 18 a 32 minutos e frequência semanal de três vezes.Resultados: No grupo OA, ocorreu um aumento dos valores RMS pós-treinamento comparado com o pré-treinamento (p<0,05). O grupo SAU permaneceu igual ao grupo OA pós-treinamento (p>0,05). O torque do quadríceps aumentou pós-treinamento no grupo OA no ângulo de 90° de flexão do joelho, contudo, o grupo SAU apresentou maior produção de torque em todos os ângulos avaliados (p<0,05). No grupo OA, houve aumento das razões RMS / torque após o treinamento para os ângulos de 60º, 75º e 90º de flexão do joelho (p<0,05), mas não diferindo do grupo SAU (p>0,05).Conclusão: Oito semanas de treinamento com NMES aumentaram a ativação muscular e torque dos músculos extensores do joelho no grupo osteoartrite, mas não foram capazes de gerar adaptações suficientes para igualar os mesmos ao grupo saudável.

Introduction: Aging affects the musculoskeletal system, which can lead to osteoarthritis, causing degeneration of the articular cartilage and consequently resulting in functional impairment among elderly patients. However, neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) training can be used as a mode of muscle strengthening.Objective: To investigate the effects of eight weeks of NMES training of the knee extensors on the RMS/torque ratio of elderly persons with osteoarthritis.Methods: Twenty-four elderly women were assigned into two groups: a healthy group (HE; n=12) and an osteoarthritis group (OA; n=12). The OA group was submitted to eight weeks of NMES training.Results: In the OA group, the RMS values increased from the pre-training to the post-training periods (p<0.05). The HE group did not differ from the OA group in the post-training period (p>0.05). Quadriceps torque was higher in the OA group in the post-training period at 90º of knee flexion (p<0.05) but the torque in the HE group remained higher than in the OA group for all the angles evaluated (p<0.05). The RMS/torque ratios increased in the post-training period at 60º, 75º and 90º of knee flexion (p<0.05), but did not differ between the HE and OA groups (p>0.05).Conclusion: Eight weeks of NMES training resulted in a significant increase in the RMS and torque values of the quadriceps, but these neural adaptations were not sufficient to improve the osteoarthritis group to levels similar to the healthy group.

Novas classes de aços inoxidáveis martensíticos, com baixo teor de carbono, têm sido desenvolvidas, para atender, principalmente, às necessidades do segmento da indústria do petróleo. Contudo o seu uso tem sido restrito pelo fato de ser um desenvolvimento recente e muitas de suas propriedades ainda são motivos de investigação. Nesse trabalho, foram determinados os valores das temperaturas inicial e final da transformação austenítica e as temperaturas de início e fim da formação martensítica, para a liga 13Cr2Ni0,1C, através de ensaios dilatométricos com resfriamento contínuo. Com base nesses resultados, foram obtidas as condições otimizadas dos tratamentos térmicos de têmpera e revenido. A caracterização microestrutural das ligas na condição de bruta fusão foi realizada por microscopia ótica observando-se uma matriz martensítica com a presença de ferrita delta.

New classes of martensitic stainless steels, with low carbon levels, have been developed aiming to meet the needs of the petroleum industry segment. However, their use has been restricted due to the fact it is a recent development and many of its properties are still under investigation. This work determines the values of initial and final temperatures for the austenitic transformation and the initial and final temperatures of martensitic formation for alloy 13Cr2Ni0,1C, by means of dilatometric tests under continuous cooling. Based on these results the optimized conditions for quench and temper heat treatments were obtained. The microstructural characterization of the alloys under coarse fusion condition was carried out by optical microscopy and the presence of delta-ferrite in the martensitic matrix was observed.

OBJETIVO: Analisar os resultados da terapia local pré-operatória em pacientes portadores de carcinoma hepatocelular submetidos a transplante hepático. MÉTODOS: . Foram analisados os prontuários dos pacientes adultos submetidos a transplante hepático cadavérico e intervivos no Hospital de Clínicas da Universidade Federal do Paraná no período entre janeiro de 2002 e agosto de 2007. Foram incluídos no estudo os portadores de cirrose hepática e carcinoma hepatocelular diagnosticado pelos critérios da EASL (European Association for the Study of the Liver). Foram analisados o número e o diâmetro dos nódulos neoplásicos antes e após a terapia local e na análise do explante, o número de sessões de terapia local e sua duração. Após o estabelecimento do diagnóstico de carcinoma hepatocelular os pacientes foram submetidos à terapia local com alcoolização. RESULTADOS: Foram analisados 22 pacientes portadores de 31 nódulos neoplásicos com diâmetro médio de 28,8±12 mm. Após as sessões de terapia local foram detectados 29 nódulos neoplásicos com diâmetro médio de 24,6±12 mm, sem diferença em relação ao observado antes do tratamento e todos dentro dos critérios de Milão. Foram realizados 17 transplantes cadavéricos e cinco transplantes intervivos. A análise do explante demonstrou seis casos fora dos critérios de Milão. Dezesseis casos estavam dentro dos critérios de Milão com 14 nódulos neoplásicos com diâmetro médio de 30±14 mm, sem diferença em relação ao observado no diagnóstico e após a terapia local. CONCLUSÃO: A terapia local para o carcinoma hepatocelular com alcoolização e quimioembolização permitiu o controle parcial da evolução da doença considerando-se os critérios de Milão em pacientes em lista de espera para transplante hepático. Ocorreram diferenças significativas em relação aos critérios de Milão entre os exames de imagem pré-operatórios e a análise do explante.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the results of pre-operative local therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma in patients who were subjected to liver transplantation. METHODS: Cadaveric and living-related liver transplants done in cirrotic patients with hepatocellular carcinoma within the Milan criteria were included. The nodules were analyzed according to its number and diameter before and after the institution of the local therapy and on the explant evaluation. RESULTS: 22 patients with 31 nodules that measured 28.8±12 mm in diameter were included. They were subjected to 21 sessions of percutaneous ethanol injection and 29 sessions of transarterial chemoembolization. After the local therapy, 29 nodules that measured 24.6±12 mm in diameter were detected. All of them were within the Milan criteria and there was no difference compared to the diameter before the treatment. The patients were subjected to 17 cadaveric and 5 living-related liver transplantations. In six cases the tumors exceeded the Milan criteria on the explant evaluation: 4 due to its number and 2 due to its diameter. Sixteen cases were within the criteria and there were 14 neoplastic nodules with 30±14 mm in diameter. In these cases no difference was observed compared to the diameter before and after the local therapy. CONCLUSION: Local therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma with percutaneous ethanol injection and transarterial chemoembolization partially controlled tumor evolution considering the Milan criteria in patients waiting for liver transplantation. Significant differences were observed in terms of the Milan criteria on pre-operative examination compared to the explant evaluation.

RACIONAL: A gastrectomia subtotal atualmente é considerada padrão ouro no tratamento da neoplasia gástrica do terço médio e distal. No entanto, foi demonstrado que a ocorrência de neoplasia residual na margem cirúrgica proximal está associada à redução da sobrevida. OBJETIVOS: analisar a margem cirúrgica proximal no exame anátomo-patológico de pacientes submetidos à gastrectomia subtotal por adenocarcinoma gástrico e identificar os fatores relacionados com o acometimento neoplásico dessa margem. MÉTODOS: No período entre janeiro de 1998 e dezembro de 2007 foram revisados os prontuários dos pacientes submetidos à gastrectomia subtotal devido a adenocarcinoma gástrico do terço médio e distal. Os pacientes foram analisados quanto à idade, sexo, classificação de Lauren, classificação de Borrmann, maior diâmetro da lesão, localização da lesão no estômago, clínico e presença de invasão angiolinfática. Foi realizada análise univariada desses dados em relação ao acometimento da margem proximal do estômago no exame anátomo-patológico. RESULTADOS: Foram analisados 104 casos: 34 do sexo feminino e 70 do sexo masculino com idade média de 57±13 anos. Doze pacientes (12,3%) apresentaram acometimento da margem proximal. A análise univariada entre os fatores analisados e o acometimento neoplásico da margem proximal demonstrou associação somente em relação à classificação de Borrmann. CONCLUSÃO: A classificação macroscópica de Borrmann, especialmente nos estágios III e IV, está relacionada à presença de acometimento da margem proximal nos casos de adenocarcinoma gástrico dos terços médio e distal submetidos a tratamento com gastrectomia subtotal.

BACKGROUND: Subtotal gastrectomy is considered the gold standard treatment for gastric neoplasms localized in the distal and medial thirds of the stomach. Nevertheless, it has been shown that residual neoplasm into the proximal margin is associated to worse prognosis. AIM: To identify factors related to residual neoplasm into the proximal margin determined on pathology examination of patients subjected(Submitted) to subtotal gastrectomy for gastric adenocarcinoma. METHODS: The charts of the patients subjected(Submitted) to subtotal gastrectomy due to gastric adenocarcinoma of the distal and medial thirds were reviewed from January 1998 to December 2007. It was recorded data referred to age, sex, Lauren and Borrmann staging, neoplasm diameter, localization inside the stomach, TNM staging and angiolymphatic invasion. These data were submitted to univariate analysis in relation to residual neoplasm into the proximal margin. RESULTS: A hundread and four cases were included: 34 females and 70 males. The median age was 57±13 years. Twelve patients (12.3%) presented residual neoplasm into the proximal margin. The univariate analysis showed association between only the Borrmann staging and the residual neoplasm. CONCLUSION: Borrmann staging is associated to residual neoplasm into the proximal margin in patients subjected(Submitted) to subtotal gastrectomy for medial and distal thirds gastric adenocarcinoma.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar e validar um conjunto mínimo de parâmetros para o monitoramento, em campo, da microbiota do solo e da fixação biológica do N2 (FBN) pela soja. Os ensaios foram conduzidos em áreas de plantios comerciais (safra 2002/2003) e experimentais (safra 2004/2005), em blocos ao acaso. O C e o N da biomassa microbiana (CBM e NBM) mostraram-se adequados para a avaliação quantitativa da microbiota do solo e ambos os parâmetros foram correlacionados significativamente, portanto, apenas um deles precisa ser determinado. Foram obtidas correlações positivas e significativas entre a massa da parte aérea seca das plantas (MPAS) e o CBM e o NBM. A análise do DNA total do solo por eletroforese em géis desnaturantes (DGGE) detectou alterações qualitativas na microbiota do solo, relacionadas à homogeneidade da área e a diferenças entre tratamentos, áreas e coletas. A massa de nódulos secos (MNS) foi o melhor parâmetro para a avaliação da nodulação. Correlações significativas foram constatadas entre a MPAS e o N total acumulado na parte aérea (NTPA). Resultados semelhantes foram observados entre a MPAS e o N de ureídos (NTU). O monitoramento da FBN pela soja pode ser realizado apenas pela determinação da MNS e da MPAS.

The objective of this work was to evaluate and validate a minimum set of parameters capable of monitoring, under field conditions, soil microbes and/or the biological N2 fixation process with the soybean crop. The field trials were performed in commercial fields (2002/2003) and experimental areas (2004/2004), with complete randomized blocks design. Microbial biomass C (MBC) and N (MBN) were adequate for the quantitative evaluation of soil microbes; the parameters were significantly correlated therefore the determination of only one of them is sufficient. Positive and significant correlations were also obtained between the parameters of shoot dry weight (SDW) and MBC and MBN. The analysis of total soil DNA by the denaturating gradient gel electrophoresis method (DGGE) detected qualitative changes in soil microbes, related to the homogeneity of the area, as well as to differences among treatments, areas and harvests. Nodule dry weight (NDW) was the most suitable parameter for the evaluation of nodulation. Significant correlations were obtained between the SDW and the total N accumulated in shoots (TNS). Similar results were obtained between SDW and total N-ureides (TNU). Monitoring of the symbiosis in soils traditionally cropped with soybean and poor on N may be achieved only by the determination of NDW and SDW.

We report a rare cause of pyloric stenosis caused by migration of surgical clips into a duodenal ulcer following laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Even after endoscopic removal of the clips the inflammatory reaction during the healing process caused a stenosis of the pylorus that eventually required a truncal vagotomy and gastroenterostomy.
