RESUMEN El objetivo de este artículo es identificar la prevalencia de deserción en los alumnos de la Licenciatura en Nutrición (LN) de una universidad pública de México, las causas relacionadas con la deserción y agruparlas de acuerdo a sus características. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo en dos fases, en la fase 1 se identificaron los datos históricos de deserción del programa educativo. En la fase 2, se aplicó una encuesta de construcción propia con preguntas abiertas y cerradas, de la cual se obtuvo la respuesta de 75 estudiantes desertores. La encuesta incluyó un análisis dicotómico (sí, no) de 18 factores asociados a la deserción escolar, totalizando 22 al incorporar los aspectos cualitativos obtenidos de la opción de respuesta "otros"; estos factores se agruparon en seis categorías. Se encontró una tasa de deserción escolar del 18% para el plan de estudios actual y el intermedio y hasta el 33% en el primer plan de estudios. De los desertores detectados, el 58.6% lo hizo en el primer año de estudios. El 66% de los desertores reprobaron al menos una unidad de aprendizaje y tienen una calificación promedio de 72.71, por debajo de la media general de la LN del centro universitario (91.8). De los desertores, el 49.3% identificó el cambio de carrera como su motivo de abandono, este factor forma parte de la categoría de "causas vocacionales" que ocupó el primer lugar con el 72%, seguido de "aspectos personales" con el 49.3% incluyendo 3 casos de maternidad; y en tercer lugar la categoría de "aspectos económicos" (26.7%). El principal motivo de deserción de los alumnos de la LN son los aspectos vocacionales relacionados con la búsqueda de otra carrera.

ABSTRACT The objective of this article is to identify the prevalence of dropout in students from the bachelor's degree in nutrition (LN) at a public university in Mexico, the causes related to dropout, and group them according to their characteristics. A descriptive study was carried out in two phases; in phase 1, the historical data on attrition from the educational program were identified. In phase 2, we applied a self-constructed survey with open and closed questions and obtained a response from 75 dropout students. The survey included a dichotomous analysis (yes, no) of 18 factors associated with school dropout, totaling 22 when incorporating the qualitative aspects obtained from the "other" response option; these factors were grouped into six categories. A dropout rate of 18 % was found for the current and intermediate curriculum and up to 33 % in the first curriculum. Of the dropouts detected, 58.6 % came to pass in the first year of studies. The 66 % of the dropouts have failed at least one subject; their average grade is 72.71, below the general average from the LN of the university center (91.8). Of the dropouts, 49.3 % identified career change as their reason for dropping out, which is part of the category of "vocational causes" that ranked first with 72 %, followed by "personal aspects" with 49.3 % including 3 cases of maternity; and in third place the category of "economic aspects" (26.7 %). The main reason for dropout among LN students is vocational aspects related to the search for another career.

Resumo: O Questionário de Funcionamento Reflexivo (RFQ-8) é um instrumento psicométrico de auto-relato breve, concebido para avaliar as capacidades de funcionamento reflexivo de um indivíduo. Este estudo teve como objetivo examinar as propriedades psicométricas da versão Angolana do RFQ-8, nomeadamente, avaliar a sua estrutura fatorial e examinar as suas correlações com constructos relacionados e variáveis clínicas numa amostra da população geral de Angola. Foi realizado um estudo transversal com 132 participantes (idade ≥18 anos) com residência e nacionalidade Angolana, recrutados através de procedimentos de amostragem não probabilística, por conveniência e bola de neve. O protocolo de investigação online incluiu uma tradução portuguesa do RFQ-8 e uma bateria de medidas de auto-relato (Inventário de Sintomas Psicopatológicos; Escala de Vinculação do Adulto; Escala de Insight Cognitivo de Beck). Em concordância com estudos prévios, os resultados suportaram uma estrutura bifactorial para o RFQ-8 (avaliando a certeza e a incerteza acerca de estados mentais; subescalas RFQc e RFQu) com consistência interna satisfatória. As pontuações do RFQ-8 também mostraram correlações significativas com sintomas psicopatológicos, sugerindo uma relação estreita entre a incerteza sobre estados mentais e perturbações clínicas, consistente com a teoria da mentalização; relações estatisticamente significativas com diferentes padrões de vinculação que reforçam o esquema desenvolvimental da mentalização; correlações significativas com o insight cognitivo, um constructo intimamente relacionado com o funcionamento reflexivo. Apesar de o RFQ-8 ter sido concebido para avaliar dois défices no funcionamento reflexivo (hipermentalização e hipomentalização), apenas a hipomentalização parece ser adequadamente analisada por este instrumento. Assim, é necessária investigação adicional para analisar a provável unidimensionalidade do RFQ-8 e a viabilidade de diferentes procedimentos de cotação. Em conclusão, este estudo oferece evidências preliminares sobre a fiabilidade e validade da versão Angolana desta escala. Para além da sua utilidade na avaliação clínica, poderá também contribuir para o desenvolvimento da investigação sobre mentalização e sobre a eficácia de intervenções psicoterapêuticas, incluindo a resposta a tratamentos baseados na mentalização.

Abstract: The Reflective Functioning Questionnaire (RFQ-8) is a brief self-report psychometric instrument designed to assess an individual’s reflective functioning abilities. This study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Angolan version of the RFQ-8, namely, to assess its factor structure and to examine its correlations with related constructs and clinical variables in a sample of the general population of Angola. A cross-sectional study was conducted with 132 participants (aged ≥18 years) with Angolan residency and nationality, recruited through non-probability, convenience and snowball sampling procedures. The online research protocol included a Portuguese translation of the RFQ-8 and a battery of self- report measures (Brief Symptom Inventory; Adult Attachment Scale - Revised; Beck Cognitive Insight Scale). Consistent with previous research, results supported a two-factor structure for the RFQ-8 (assessing certainty and uncertainty about mental states; RFQc and RFQu subscales) with satisfactory internal consistency. RFQ-8 scores also showed significant correlations to psychopathological symptoms, suggesting a close relation between uncertainty about mental states and clinical problems, consistent with the mentalization framework; statistically significant relationships with different attachment patterns that support mentalization’s developmental schema; significant correlations with cognitive insight, a construct closely related to reflective functioning. Even though the RFQ-8 was designed to assess two impairments in reflective functioning (hypermentalization and hypomentalization), it seems that only hypomentalization is adequately addressed by this instrument. Further research is thus needed to analyze the probable unidimensionality of the RFQ-8 and the viability of different scoring procedures. In conclusion, this study offers preliminary evidence on the reliability and validity of the Angolan version of this scale. Besides its usefulness in clinical assessment, it could also contribute to developing research on mentalization and the efficacy of psychotherapeutic interventions, including patients’ responses to mentalization-based treatments.

Resumo A avaliação do atraso de colheita de sementes de soja pode auxiliar na seleção de cultivares mais resistentes à deterioração no campo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a qualidade fisiológica e sanitária de sementes de três cultivares de soja, submetidas ao atraso da colheita. Sementes das cultivares ‘NS 5959’, ‘BMX Potência’ e ‘TMG 1175’ foram colhidas em quatro épocas (R8; R8 + 10 dias; R8 + 20 dias e R8 + 30 dias) e avaliadas quanto ao grau de umidade, germinação, emergência, crescimento de plântulas e incidência de fungos. Houve redução na germinação e vigor das sementes das diferentes cultivares de soja, principalmente quando colhidas em R8 + 20 e R8 + 30 dias, devido à deterioração em campo. Além disso, o atraso na colheita proporcionou maior incidência de fungos nas sementes, principalmente Phomopsis sp., Aspergillus sp. e Cercospora kikuchii. Em geral, a cultivar ‘TMG 1175’ foi mais resistente à deterioração das sementes em campo causada pelo atraso de colheita.

Abstract The assessment of delayed harvesting of soybean seeds may help in the selection of cultivars more resistant to deterioration in the field. This work aimed to evaluate the physiological and sanitary quality of seeds of three soybean cultivars submitted to harvest delay. Seeds of the cultivars ‘NS 5959’, ‘BMX Potência’, and ‘TMG 1175’ were harvested in four periods (R8; R8 + 10 days; R8 + 20 days, and R8 + 30 days) and evaluated for the moisture content, germination, emergence, seedling growth, and fungal incidence. There was a reduction in germination and vigor of the seeds of the different soybean cultivars, especially when harvested at R8 + 20 and R8 + 30 days, due to deterioration in the field. In addition, the delay in harvest provided a higher incidence of fungi in the seeds, mainly Phomopsis sp., Aspergillus sp., and Cercospora kikuchii. In general, the cultivar ‘TMG 1175’ was more resistant to seed deterioration in the field caused by delayed harvesting.

Abstract Introduction: Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) are highly prevalent in patients with heart failure (HF). The presence of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSA) determines a worse prognosis in these patients. There are questionnaires aimed at evaluating the probability of OSA, although none have been validated in patients with HF. The primary objective of this study was to establish the prevalence of SDB in a cohort of patients with HF and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) from the Multidisciplinary HF Unit (UMIC). As a secondary objective, to evaluate the usefulness of the Stop-Bang, Berlin, and 2ABN3M questionnaires for TRS screening in these patients. Methodology: Cross-sectional, observational study, including the active cohort of the UMIC, over 18 years with HFrEF, clinically stable and informed consent. Patients with cognitive, neurological or hearing impairment with limitations when conducting the interview were excluded. Patients with other limiting or uncontrolled sleep disorders, continuous home oxygen therapy requirements, did not enter the study. Berlin, Stop-Bang, and 2ABN3M questionnaires were administered, classifying the population into high-risk, intermediate-risk, and low-risk groups of presenting SDB. All patients underwent outpatient respiratory polygraphy (RP). Descriptive statistics were used to characterize demographic variables, measures of central tendency and dispersion. SPSS statistical software was used. Results: 387 patients were included, 248 men (64.1%), mean age was 63.5 ± 0.6 years. The etiology of HF was ischemic in 41.6% of patients. The body mass index was 29.3 ± 0.3 kg/m2. LVEF was 34.2 ± 0.5, pro-BNP 1233.8 ± 137.6 pg/ml. The results of the questionnaires showed that 52.1% (198) presented a high risk of SDB according to the Berlin questionnaire. With Stop-Bang, 35.9% (139) were high risk, 42.1% (163) intermediate risk, and the remaining 22% (85) low risk. With the 2ABN3M score, 62% (240) were high risk. A total of 156 respiratory polygraphs (40.3% of the population) were performed. The cut-off point to define the presence of sleep apnea was considered to be an AHI >15. 58.3% (91) of the patients presented TRS. Of these, 95% presented obstructive apnea and 5% central apnea with periodic Cheyne-Stokes breathing. A high percentage (26%) presented AHI greater than 30. The sensitivity of the Berlin and Stop-Bang questionnaires was 75.8% and 91.2%, respectively, with a specificity of 53.8% and 24.6%. Regarding the 2ABN3M score, a sensitivity of 71.4% and a specificity of 44.6% were observed. Conclusions: The prevalence of sleep-disordered breathing in patients with HFrEF was high in our cohort and obstructive apnea predominated. Given the high sensitivity (91.2%) of the Stop-Bang questionnaire found in our study, it could be useful as a screening tool for TRS in this type of patient. The importance of investigating this pathology whose clinical presentation can be non-specific and remain underdiagnosed is highlighted.

Resumo Introdução: Os distúrbios respiratórios do sono (DRS) são altamente prevalentes em pacientes com insuficiência cardíaca (IC). A presença da síndrome da apneia obstrutiva do sono (SAOS) determina pior prognóstico nesses pacientes. Existem questionários destinados a avaliar a probabilidade de AOS, porém nenhum foi validado em pacientes com IC. O objetivo primário deste estudo foi estabelecer a prevalência de DRS em uma coorte de pacientes com IC e fração de ejeção reduzida (ICFEr) da Unidade Multidisciplinar de IC (UMIC). Como objetivo secundário, avaliar a utilidade dos questionários Stop-Bang, Berlin e 2ABN3M para triagem de SRT nesses pacientes. Metodologia: Estudo transversal, observacional, inclui a coorte ativa da UMIC, maiores de 18 anos com ICFEr, clinicamente estável e consentimento informado. Foram excluídos pacientes com deficiência cognitiva, neurológica ou auditiva com limitações na realização da entrevista. Pacientes com outros distúrbios do sono limitantes ou descontrolados, requisitos de oxigenoterapia domiciliar contínua, não entraram no estudo. Os questionários Berlin, Stop-Bang e 2ABN3M foram aplicados, classificando a população em grupos de alto risco, risco intermediário e baixo risco de apresentar DRS. Todos os pacientes foram submetidos à poligrafia respiratória (PR) ambulatorial. A estatística descritiva foi utilizada para caracterizar as variáveis demográficas, medidas de tendência central e dispersão. Foi utilizado o software estatístico SPSS. Resultados: foram incluídos 387 pacientes, 248 homens (64,1%), com idade média de 63,5 ± 0,6 anos. A etiologia da IC foi isquêmica em 41,6% dos pacientes. O índice de massa corporal foi de 29,3 ± 0,3 kg/m2. FEVE foi de 34,2 ± 0,5, pro-BNP 1233,8 ± 137,6 pg/ml. Os resultados dos questionários mostraram que 52,1% (198) apresentaram alto risco de DRS de acordo com o questionário de Berlim. Com Stop-Bang, 35,9% (139) eram de alto risco, 42,1% (163) de risco intermediário e os restantes 22% (85) de baixo risco. Com a pontuação 2ABN3M, 62% (240) eram de alto risco. Foram realizados 156 polígrafos respiratórios (40,3% da população). O ponto de corte para definir a presença de apneia do sono foi considerado um IAH >15. 58,3% (91) dos pacientes apresentaram SRT. Destes, 95% apresentavam apnéia obstrutiva e 5% apnéia central com respiração Cheyne-Stokes periódica. Uma alta porcentagem (26%) apresentou IAH maior que 30. A sensibilidade dos questionários Berlin e Stop-Bang foi de 75,8% e 91,2%, respectivamente, com especificidade de 53,8% e 24,6%. Em relação ao escore 2ABN3M, observou-se sensibilidade de 71,4% e especificidade de 44,6%. Conclusões: A prevalência de distúrbios respiratórios do sono em pacientes com ICFEr foi alta em nossa coorte, com predominância de apneias obstrutivas. Dada a alta sensibilidade (91,2%) do questionário Stop-Bang encontrado em nosso estudo, ele pode ser útil como uma ferramenta de triagem para ERT nesse tipo de paciente. Ressalta-se a importância da investigação dessa patologia cuja apresentação clínica pode ser inespecífica e permanecer subdiagnosticada.

Abstract Gypsum is a widely used material in civil construction, but its use is restricted to areas with low humidity or water action. The study shows the influence of the application of a commercial water-repellent additive in production of gypsum pastes. The total immersion water absorption test defined the contents used for the characterization of fresh and hardened plasters. The water absorption decreased in 1.0% and returned to increase in 2.0%, revealing that the optimal content of the water repellent used must be between 0.3% and 1.0% According to the capillary water absorption test, the water repellent additive showed the best results when used the content of 1.0% and was classified as water-preventive. The compressive strength decreased by 3.6% and the surface hardness by up to 6.2% in the pastes, when compared to the reference ones. The additive caused a change in the properties of gypsum pastes in the fresh and hardened state. The waterproofing barrier was not verified, the use of higher levels of water repellent may be unfeasible due to the high cost of the additive.

Resumo Ogesso é um material largamente utilizado na construção civil, mas seu uso se restringe a áreas com pouca umidade ou ação da água. O estudo mostra a influência da aplicação de um aditivo hidrofugante comercial na produção de pastas de gesso. O ensaio de absorção de água por imersão total definiu os teores utilizados na caracterização das pastas no estado fresco e endurecido. A absorção de água diminuiu em 1,0% de adição e volta a crescer aos 2,0%, revelando que o teor ótimo do hidrofugante utilizado deve estar entre 0,3% e 1,0%. Na absorção de água por capilaridade, o aditivo apresentou melhor resultado quando utilizado em 1,0%, sendo a mistura classificada como preventiva à água. A resistência à compressão diminuiu em 3,6% e a dureza superficial em até 6,2% nas pastas, quando comparadas às de referência. O aditivo provocou a modificação das propriedades das pastas de gesso no estado fresco e endurecido. A formação da barreira impermeabilizante não foi verificada, e a utilização de maiores teores de hidrofugação poderá ser inviável devido ao elevado custo do aditivo.

ABSTRACT Fresh corn is a highly appreciated vegetable in Brazil; this crop has high added value and profitability when compared to dry corn. Despite the consumer market demand for quality, cultivars are not launched every crop season and there is a small number of cultivars available to growers. This denotes a need for breeding programs focused on generating information and genotypes that can occupy this market niche. The objective of this work was to evaluate the progress of five cycles of intrapopulation recurrent selection in half-sib progenies of fresh corn, in the southwest region of Goiás. A randomized block experimental design was used, with evaluation of 64 progenies of corn half-sib progenies and selection intensity of 30% per cycle, with three replications, in the 2011-2012, 2013-2014, 2015-2016, 2017-2018, and 2020-2021 summer crop seasons. The half-sib progenies of fresh corn exhibited genetic variability through intrapopulation recurrent selection in the different selection cycles, which is still promising for further selections after five cycles, with evaluation of 64 progenies per cycle. The base population from crossings between hybrids for tropical and temperate climates showed to be promising for increasing the genetic base of fresh corn populations, with satisfactory gains over the five cycles, presenting mean heritability between the cycles of approximately 78.9% for relative chlorophyll index, 62.2% for plant height, 75.1% for ear insertion height, 70% for ear diameter, 56.6% for ear length, 71.4% for unhusked ear yield, and 71% for marketable ear yield.

RESUMO O milho fresco é uma hortaliça muito apreciada pelos brasileiros e, além disso, possui alto valor agregado e maior lucratividade, quando comparado aos grãos secos. O mercado consumidor apesar de exigente na qualidade, não é abastecido com novas cultivares a cada safra e com um número ínfimo sendo disponível aos produtores. Assim, existe a necessidade da criação de programas de melhoramento, com o intuito de gerar informações e genótipos capazes de suprir esse nicho de mercado. O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar o progresso da seleção em progênies de meiosirmãos de milho fresco, em cinco ciclos de seleção recorrente intrapopulacional, na região sudoeste de Goiás. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o de blocos casualizados, com a avaliação de 64 progênies de meios-irmãos e intensidade de seleção de 30% por ciclo, com três repetições, em diferentes safras de verão (2011-2012, 2013-2014, 2015-2016, 2017-2018 e 2020-2021). As progênies de famílias de meios-irmãos de milho fresco apresentaram variabilidade genética por meio de seleção recorrente intrapopulacional nos diferentes ciclos de seleção, com avaliação de 64 progênies por ciclo. A população base de cruzamentos entre híbridos para climas tropicais e temperados mostrou-se promissora para aumentar a base genética de populações de milho fresco, com ganhos satisfatórios ao longo dos cinco ciclos, com herdabilidade média de aproximadamente 78,9% para o índice relativo de clorofila, 62,2% para altura de planta, 75% para inserção da espiga, 70% para diâmetro da espiga, 56,6% para comprimento da espiga, 71,4% para espigas empalhadas e 71% para espigas comerciais entre os ciclos.

ABSTRACT This study focuses on critical thinking through the interpretation of statistical graphics and actions based on sustainability, from a classroom intervention in relation to the Water Crisis in the Biobío Region, Chile, to 165 students from 7th grade to the 4th year of a state establishment. The methodology is framed in a descriptive-qualitative ap- proach developed through a questionnaire focused on the interpretation of statistical graphs, decision-making, and their arguments. The results show that students point to the data used on the axis of the ordinates as the main difference between the two graphs and recognize how the appearance of the graph can change depending on the data used. The argument focuses on an unsupported level of demand and actions for sustainability focused on the personal, independent of the academic level or gender of the students.

RESUMEN Este estudio se centra en el pensamiento crítico desde la interpretación de gráficos esta- dísticos y las acciones basadas en la sostenibilidad, de una intervención de aula en relación con la Crisis Hídrica en la Región del Biobío, Chile, a 165 estudiantes de 7º básico a 4º año medio de un establecimiento estatal. La metodología se enmarca en un enfoque cualitativo descriptivo desarrollado por medio de un cuestionario centrado en la interpretación de gráficos estadísticos, la toma de decisiones y sus argumentos. Los resulta- dos evidencian que los estudiantes señalan los datos utilizados en el eje de las ordena- das como la principal diferencia entre los dos gráficos, y reconocen cómo la apariencia del gráfico puede cambiar dependiendo de los datos utilizados. La argumentación se concentra en un nivel de demanda sin respaldo y acciones para la sostenibilidad centradas en lo personal, independiente del nivel académico o el género de los estudiantes.

Abstract Female androgenetic alopecia or female-pattern hair loss (FPHL) is highly prevalent and has a great impact on the quality of life. The treatment is a routine challenge in dermatological practice, as many therapeutic options have a limited level of evidence and often do not meet patients expectations. Lack of knowledge of the pathogenesis of the hair miniaturization process and the factors that regulate follicular morphogenesis restricts the prospect of innovative therapies. There is also a lack of randomized, controlled studies with longitudinal follow-up, using objective outcomes and exploring the performance of the available treatments and their combinations. Topical minoxidil, which has been used to treat female pattern hair loss since the 1990s, is the only medication that has a high level of evidence and remains the first choice. However, about 40% of patients do not show improvement with this treatment. In this article, the authors critically discuss the main clinical and surgical therapeutic alternatives for FPHL, as well as present camouflage methods that can be used in more extensive or unresponsive cases.

RESUMO A qualidade desta operação de preparo do solo pode ser mensurada por equipamentos denominados perfilômetros, fornecendo informações quanto a rugosidade, área mobilizada, empolamento e espessura do solo trabalhada. Porém, trata-se de equipamento antiquado, com elevadas horas de trabalho no campo e escritório. Assim, o objetivo do trabalho foi construir um perfilômetro eletrônico utilizando triangulação a laser e sensores de ultrassom para medição de perfis de solo mobilizados digitalmente. Em seguida, os resultados obtidos foram comparados com os obtidos com um perfilômetro de barra deslizante tradicional para avaliar a precisão e eficiência dos sensores. Para o experimento conduzido em ambiente controlado, adotou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado. ABSTRACT The quality of soil tillage can be measured with a specific device called profilometer, which provides information on roughness, mobilized area, blistering, and thickness in disturbed soils. However, it is an outdated device, requiring many hours of field and office work. Thus, the objective of the present work was to develop an electronic profilometer using laser triangulation and ultrasound sensors for measurement of digitally mobilized soil profile. The results obtained were compared to those acquired with a conventional sliding bar profilometer to evaluate the accuracy and efficiency of the sensors. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design under a controlled environment. The variables were measured seven times using the three profilometers (laser, ultrasound, and conventional) in the original, elevated, and mobilized soil profiles. ABSTRACT Objective: To describe self-perceived overweight and obesity in university students. Case Medical School, Ecuador. Methodology: The positivist paradigm was used from the quantitative perspective, with a non-experimental design, the type of research is field and descriptive level application of a questionnaire to a group of university students, a questionnaire was structured with the Kobotoolbox tool, which had a total of 27 questions containing socio demographic issues and specific topics to analyze the presence of obesity and overweight. Metodología: Se empleó el paradigma positivista desde la perspectiva cuantitativa, con un diseño no experimental, el tipo de investigación es de campo y el nivel descriptivo, con aplicación de un cuestionario a un grupo de estudiantes universitarios de Medicina, Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, Riobamba, Ecuador; se estructuró un cuestionario con la herramienta Kobotoolbox, misma que contó con un total de 27 preguntas que contenían temas socio demográficos y temas específicos para analizar la presencia de obesidad y sobrepeso. Resultados: Mientras más tiempo de clases más tiempo de pantalla y esto da menos actividad física. Conclusión: Se demuestra que ser sedentario aumenta en 2,8 veces la probabilidad de sufrir sobrepeso, aunque no es determinante, se convierte en un factor de riesgo a ser considerado.

ABSTRACT Objective: The general objective of the research was to describe the evaluation of suicidal risk in university students. Methodology: A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional research was carried out; within the goals set out in this study, the manipulation of the variables to be studied was not contemplated. The study had a descriptive observational scope, with the goal of recording, analyzing and interpreting the current nature of the population studied. The survey was sent through the Google Forms platform. The survey was sent to 77 medical students of the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, Ecuador (ESPOCH). Results: It was found that 66.66% presented low suicidal risk, 14.66% medium risk and 18.66% corresponded to high risk according to the SAD PERSONS scale. In conclusion: The research shows that the population of medical students presents some level of suicidal risk. The problem described should be deepened to clarify the consequences.

RESUMEN Objetivo: El objetivo general de la investigación fue describir la evaluación de riesgo suicida en estudiantes universitarios. Metodología: Se realizó una investigación de tipo cuantitativo, no experimental de corte transversal. Dentro de las metas planteadas en este estudio no se contempla la manipulación de las variables a estudiar. El estudio tuvo un alcance descriptivo observacional, teniendo como meta el registro, análisis e interpretación de la naturaleza actual de la población estudiada. Mediante la plataforma Google Forms se envió la encuesta a 77 estudiantes de Medicina, de la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, Ecuador. (ESPOCH). Resultados: Se obtuvo que el 66.66% presenta riesgo suicida bajo, 14.66% riesgo medio y 18.66% corresponde a riesgo alto según la escala de SAD PERSONS. En conclusión: La investigación muestras que la población de estudiantes de Medicina, presenta algún nivel de riesgo suicida. La problemática descrita debe ser profundizada para esclarecer las consecuencias.

Abstract Innovation is directly related to economic growth and competitiveness. Some barriers can be observed during the process of implementing innovation in civil construction, such as the lack of understanding related to the innovation benefits in the sector. Considering the importance of agents involved in construction as promoters of the innovation process, it is necessary to identify their perceptions about the innovation concept. The present study addresses how to capture the perception of innovation by the civil construction internal agents and allow the communication of innovation diagnosis in a company. The framework developed is divided into three stages: (i) development of the structure through theoretical review; (ii) rounds of applications are carried out in a case study and in the academic environment, generating adjustments to the questionnaire and infographic; and (iii) development of the final version of the framework and the suggested actions for each category). The framework proposal proved to be efficient for diagnosing the perception of innovation agents, in addition to bringing practical results on the basis for decision making with companies.

Resumo Anecessidade de inovar está diretamente relacionada ao crescimento econômico e à competitividade. Algumas barreiras são observadas no processo de implantação da inovação na construção civil, a exemplo da falta de entendimento dos benefícios da inovação no setor. Diante da importância dos agentes envolvidos na construção como facilitadores do processo de inovação, é necessário identificar suas percepções acerca do tema. No presente estudo é proposta uma ferramenta que objetiva captar a percepção da inovação pelos agentes internos da construção civil e que permite a comunicação do diagnóstico da inovação em uma empresa. A ferramenta desenvolvida está dividida em três etapas: (i) desenvolvimento da estrutura através da revisão teórica; (ii) aplicações em estudo de caso e no meio acadêmico, gerando ajustes ao questionário e ao infográfico; e (iii) desenvolvimento da versão final da ferramenta e de sugestões de ações por cada categoria). A proposta da ferramenta mostrou-se eficiente para o diagnóstico acerca da percepção dos agentes da inovação, além de trazer resultados práticos no embasamento para tomada de decisão nas empresas.

Resumen: Se llevó a cabo un análisis de los manuscritos publicados en la literatura científica sobre el síndrome compartimental para la evaluación de un paciente con síndrome compartimental e identificación de la presentación clínica y las bases necesarias para instaurar el diagnóstico y tratamiento oportuno. Es escasa la bibliografía reciente menor de cinco años que describa las características del síndrome compartimental, el cual puede ser provocado por múltiples etiologías, de las cuales los traumatismos son la más frecuente, además de las quemaduras, fracturas, contusiones, coagulopatías, edema postisquémico o yesos muy apretados. Se realizó una revisión de estudios elegidos, entre los cuales fueron seleccionados aquellos con mayor contenido académico. Se analizaron cada uno de los estudios seleccionados y se identificaron los datos que podrían incluirse en cada uno de los subtemas del artículo de revisión. El síndrome compartimental agudo corresponde a una emergencia quirúrgica que en caso de no establecer una intervención precoz, la probabilidad de secuelas irreversibles se incrementa notablemente. En el síndrome compartimental existe aumento de la presión intersticial en los compartimentos del cuerpo que compromete la adecuada perfusión de los tejidos blandos, derivado de un proceso isquémico que presenta como manifestaciones clínicas dolor súbito intenso, palidez, ausencia de pulsos, parestesia y parálisis, lo cual acompañado de una anamnesis dirigida integra el diagnóstico junto al examen físico. Corresponde a una urgencia quirúrgica la descompresión del espacio muscular afectado, por lo que requiere detección oportuna y tratamiento precoz para evitar secuelas y complicaciones graves.

Abstract: Perform an analysis of the papers published in the scientific literature on compartment syndrome for the evaluation of patients with compartment syndrome and to identify the clinical presentation and necessary bases to establish the diagnosis and opportune treatment. There is almost no recent bibliography than almost less than five years old that describes the characteristics of compartment syndrome, which can be caused by multiple etiologies, which trauma is the most frequent, in addition to burns, fractures, contusions, coagulopathies, post-ischemic edema or very tight casts. Some studies were chosen and subjected to review and those with the highest academic content were selected. Each of the selected studies was analyzed and the data that could be included in each of the subtopics of the review article were identified. Acute compartment syndrome implies to a surgical emergency that, in case of not establishing an early intervention, the probability of irreversible sequelae increases remarkably. In acute compartment syndrome, there is an increase in interstitial pressure in the body compartments, compromising the adequate perfusion of the soft tissues derived from an ischemic process, presenting as clinical manifestations sudden intense pain, pallor, absence of pulses, paresthesia and paralysis, which accompanied by a directed anamnesis integrates the diagnosis together with the physical examination. Decompression of the affected muscle space, which requires a quick detection and early treatment to avoid sequelae and serious complications.

ABSTRACT Objective: To assess Brazilian pediatric intensivists’ general knowledge of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, including evidence for its use, the national funding model, indications, and complications. Methods: This was a multicenter cross-sectional survey including 45 Brazilian pediatric intensive care units. A convenience sample of 654 intensivists was surveyed regarding their knowledge on managing patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, its indications, complications, funding, and literature evidence. Results: The survey addressed questions regarding the knowledge and experience of pediatric intensivists with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, including two clinical cases and 6 optional questions about the management of patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Of the 45 invited centers, 42 (91%) participated in the study, and 412 of 654 (63%) pediatric intensivists responded to the survey. Most pediatric intensive care units were from the Southeast region of Brazil (59.5%), and private/for-profit hospitals represented 28.6% of the participating centers. The average age of respondents was 41.4 (standard deviation 9.1) years, and the majority (77%) were women. Only 12.4% of respondents had taken an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation course. Only 19% of surveyed hospitals have an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation program, and only 27% of intensivists reported having already managed patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Specific extracorporeal membrane oxygenation management questions were responded to by only 64 physicians (15.5%), who had a fair/good correct response rate (median 63.4%; range 32.8% to 91.9%). Conclusion: Most Brazilian pediatric intensivists demonstrated limited knowledge regarding extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, including its indications and complications. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is not yet widely available in Brazil, with few intensivists prepared to manage patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and even fewer intensivists recognizing when to refer patients to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation centers.

RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar os conhecimentos gerais dos intensivistas pediátricos brasileiros sobre oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea, incluindo evidências de uso, modelo de custeio nacional, indicações e complicações. Métodos: Este estudo foi um inquérito transversal multicêntrico que incluiu 45 unidades de terapia intensiva pediátrica brasileiras. Realizou-se inquérito de conveniência com 654 intensivistas quanto aos seus conhecimentos sobre manejo de pacientes em oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea, suas indicações, complicações, custeio e evidências bibliográficas. Resultados: O inquérito abordou questões relativas aos conhecimentos e à experiência dos intensivistas pediátricos sobre oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea, incluindo dois casos clínicos e seis questões facultativas sobre o manejo de pacientes em oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea. Dos 45 centros convidados, 42 (91%) participaram do estudo, e 412 (63%) dos 654 intensivistas pediátricos responderam ao inquérito. A maioria das unidades de terapia intensiva pediátrica eram da Região Sudeste do Brasil (59,5%), e os hospitais privados com fins lucrativos representavam 28,6% dos centros participantes. A média de idade dos respondentes era de 41,4 (desvio-padrão de 9,1) anos, e a maioria (77%) era mulher. Apenas 12,4% dos respondentes tinham formação em oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea. Dos hospitais pesquisados, apenas 19% tinham um programa de oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea, e apenas 27% dos intensivistas declararam já ter manejado pacientes em oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea. Apenas 64 médicos (15,5%) responderam a questões específicas sobre o manejo de oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea (mediana 63,4%; oscilando entre 32,8% e 91,9%). Conclusão: A maioria dos intensivistas pediátricos brasileiros demonstrou conhecimentos limitados de oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea, incluindo suas indicações e complicações. A oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea ainda não está amplamente disponível no Brasil, com poucos intensivistas preparados para o manejo de pacientes em oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea e ainda menos intensivistas capazes de reconhecer quando devem encaminhar pacientes para centros de oxigenação por membrana extracorpórea.

RESUMO: A conidiobolomicose apresenta ampla distribuição geográfica, com predominância em regiões tropicais úmidas, afeta várias espécies e apresenta taxa de mortalidade significativa. O gênero Conidiobolus está agora dividido em quatro gêneros: Capillidium, Conidiobolus, Microconidiobolus e Neoconidiobolus. Não há relatos confirmados de infecção por esses fungos em equídeos no Brasil. Relata-se o caso de uma mula com rinite rinofacial causada por Neoconidiobolus lamprauges no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. A mula apresentava uma massa que semiocluía as narinas bilateralmente, dificuldade respiratória e emagrecimento. O exame histológico de biópsia da massa da narina revelou áreas de necrose multifocais com imagens negativas de hifas fúngicas em meio à reação de Splendore-Hoeppli, circundadas por macrófagos, eosinófilos, neutrófilos e células gigantes multinucleadas. O exame histoquímico metenamina prata de Grocott revelou hifas de parede fina, raramente septadas, com ramificação irregular, grau variável de paralelismo, e diâmetro médio de 12 μm (± 3,63) e dilatações balonosas terminais. O diagnóstico etiológico foi realizado pela associação da imuno-histoquímica e da amplificação do fragmento de DNA de N. lamprauges pela reação em cadeia da polimerase. A conidiobolomicose deve ser incluída no diagnóstico diferencial das causas de rinite em equídeos, principalmente em regiões tropicais.

ABSTRACT: Conidiobolomycosis has a wide distribution, predominantly in humid tropical regions, affecting several species with significant mortality rates. The genus Conidiobolus is now divided into four genera: Capillidium, Conidiobolus, Microconidiobolus, and Neoconidiobolus. There are no confirmed reports of infection by these fungi in Equidae in Brazil. We present a rhinofacial rhinitis caused by Neoconidiobolus lamprauges in a mule from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The mule presented bilateral semi-occlusion of the nostrils, difficulty breathing, and weight loss. The histological examination of the nostril biopsied mass revealed multifocal necrotizing areas with nonstained images of fungal hyphae in the Splendore-Hoeppli reaction and surrounded by macrophages, eosinophils, neutrophils, and multinucleated giant cells. The Grocott methenamine silver staining revealed thin-walled, rarely septated, irregular branching hyphae, with a varying diameter of 12 μm (± 3.63 μm), and terminal ballooning dilations. The determining etiology of this rhinitis was based on the hyphae staining by immunohistochemistry and by amplifying the DNA fragment of N. lamprauges by polymerase chain reaction. Conidiobolomycosis should be included in the differential diagnosis of the causes of rhinitis in equids, mainly in tropical regions.
