RESUMEN Objetivo. Analizar la tendencia temporal de las tasas de incidencia y mortalidad por tuberculosis en Brasil entre el 2011 y el 2019. Métodos. Este fue un estudio ecológico de series temporales de las tasas de incidencia y mortalidad por tuberculosis en Brasil entre el 2011 y el 2019. Los datos se obtuvieron del Sistema de Información sobre Enfermedades de Notificación Obligatoria y del Sistema de Información sobre Mortalidad, y las estimaciones de población proceden del Instituto Brasileño de Geografía y Estadística. Las tendencias se analizaron mediante el programa de regresión Joinpoint, que reconoce los puntos de inflexión para el análisis temporal. Resultados. La tasa promedio de incidencia de tuberculosis en Brasil para el periodo fue de 35,8 casos por 100 000 habitantes. Entre el 2011 y el 2015, este coeficiente experimentó una variación porcentual anual del -1,9% (intervalo de confianza [IC] del 95% [-3,4, -0,5]), seguida por un aumento del 2,4% (IC 95% [0,9, 3,9]) hasta el 2019. La tasa de mortalidad promedio entre el 2011 y el 2019 fue de 2,2 muertes por cada 100 000 habitantes, con una variación porcentual promedio anual del -0,4% (IC del 95% [-1,0, 0,2]). El estado de Amazonas fue el único que a lo largo de los años presentó un aumento de la variación porcentual promedio anual de la tasa de incidencia (3,2%; IC del 95% [1,3, 5,1]) y de la tasa de mortalidad (2,7%; IC del 95% [1,0, 4,4]), en tanto que, entre el 2014 y el 2019, el estado de Río de Janeiro presentó una inflexión creciente de la incidencia (2,4%; IC del 95% [1,4, 3,5]) y una variación porcentual promedio anual decreciente (-3,5%; IC del 95% [-5,0, -1,9]). Conclusiones. Durante el periodo analizado, se observa una tendencia decreciente de la incidencia entre el 2011 y el 2015, y una tendencia creciente para el periodo comprendido entre el 2015 y el 2019. En cambio, no se encontró ningún cambio en la tendencia de la mortalidad en Brasil.

ABSTRACT Objective. To analyze the temporal trend of tuberculosis incidence and mortality rates in Brazil between 2011 and 2019. Methods. This was an ecological time series study of tuberculosis incidence and mortality rates in Brazil between 2011 and 2019. Data were extracted from the Notifiable Disease Information System and the Mortality Information System, and population estimates were from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. Trends were analyzed by Joinpoint regression, which recognizes inflection points for temporal analysis. Results. The average incidence rate of tuberculosis in Brazil in the period was 35.8 cases per 100 000 population. From 2011 to 2015, this coefficient had an annual percentage change of –1.9% (95% CI [–3.4, –0.5]) followed by an increase of 2.4% (95% CI [0.9, 3.9]) until 2019. The average mortality rate between 2011 and 2019 was 2.2 deaths per 100 000 population, with an average annual percentage change of –0.4% (95% CI [–1.0, 0.2]). Amazonas was the only state with an increase in the annual average percentage variation for the incidence rate (3.2%; 95% CI [1.3, 5.1]) and mortality rate (2.7%; 95% CI [1.0, 4.4]) over the years, while Rio de Janeiro state had an increasing inflection for incidence from 2014 to 2019 (2.4%; 95% CI [1.4, 3.5]) and annual average of decreasing percentage variation (–3.5%; 95% CI [–5.0, –1.9]). Conclusions. During the period analyzed, a decreasing trend in incidence was observed between 2011 and 2015, and an increasing trend for the period from 2015 to 2019. On the other hand, no change in the trend for mortality was found in Brazil.

Durante o período analisado, foi observada uma tendência decrescente na incidência entre 2011 e 2015 e crescente entre 2015 e 2019. Por outro lado, não foi encontrada nenhuma mudança na tendência de mortalidade no Brasil.

Abstract Introduction The Cognitive Distortions Questionnaire (CD-Quest) is an instrument that identifies logical errors or cognitive distortions and is used in trial-based cognitive therapy (TBCT). However, it had previously only been available for adults. Objectives To develop and validate a version of the CD-Quest for teens (CD-Quest-T) aged 11 to 17 years and test its psychometric properties. Method A total of 299 schoolchildren participated in the investigation. After content validity was assessed, the language was adapted for the target age group, and the length of the instrument was reduced to eight items (from the initial 15). Five cognitive therapists analyzed the content and structure of the items. Finally, to investigate the construct validity of the CD-Quest-T, the instrument was divided into a full scale and two subscales, which measure the frequency of the distortions and the intensity attributed to them, respectively. Results The overall internal consistency of the scale was α = 0.77, whereas subscale indices were α = 0.75 for the frequency scale and α = 0.73 for the intensity scale. Results from exploratory factor analysis and concurrent validity analysis indicated that the CD-Quest-T items have good psychometric properties and generate scores reliably. Conclusion The psychometric properties of the CD-Quest-T demonstrate its adequacy for measurement of cognitive distortions in adolescents.

Abstract Objectives: This study aims to investigate if a sampling method using virtual networks is feasible to survey AS adoption among this “hard-to-reach” population of Brazilian doctors. Methods: An online piloted 11-point structured survey questionnaire (designed using Googleforms®) probed the actual treatment patterns for adult patients with PTMCs, including treatment decision-making nonoperative options, was undertaken between 10 November and 30 November 2020. Participants were reached by the mobile phone Application (APP) and a snowball sampling strategy was used to recruit a total of 4783 members (maximum number of potential reach), which is the total of doctors of the all 21 social media WhatsApp® groups. Results: From a total of 4783 members (maximum number of potential reach), there were 657 (13.7%) doctors (actual reach) who clicked the web link of the questionnaire, out of whom 512 (10.7%) fully completed the online survey. Among the survey respondents, 361 were endocrinologists (70.5%) and 151 were surgeons (29.5%). Overall, for low-risk PTMCs in an elderly patient, 118 responders (23%) recommend AS, while 390 (76%) recommend immediate surgery as the management, including lobectomy (18.5%) and Total Thyroidectomy (58.2%). The present responders tended to recommend surgery for PTMCs that were located adjacent to the dorsal surface of the thyroid, were multiple, or raised the size during the follow-up. Conclusion: Using snowball sampling strategy as an innovative route to conduct surveys was feasible and applicable but the rate of response was still very low. Our data also suggests the need to investigate if AS is embraced by Brazilian doctors.

OBJECTIVES: To describe the MORPHEOS (Morbidity in patients with uncontrolled HTN and OSA) trial, and describe the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: MORPHEOS is a multicenter (n=6) randomized controlled trial designed to evaluate the blood pressure (BP) lowering effects of treatment with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or placebo (nasal strips) for 6 months in adult patients with uncontrolled hypertension (HTN) and moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Patients using at least one antihypertensive medication were included. Uncontrolled HTN was confirmed by at least one abnormal parameter in the 24-hour ABPM and ≥80% medication adherence evaluated by pill counting after the run-in period. OSA was defined by an apnea-hypopnea index ≥15 events/hours. The co-primary endpoints are brachial BP (office and ambulatory BP monitoring, ABPM) and central BP. Secondary outcomes include hypertension-mediated organ damage (HMOD) to heart, aorta, eye, and kidney. We pre-specified several sub-studies from this investigation. Visits occur once a week in the first month and once a month thereafter. The programmed sample size was 176 patients but the pandemic prevented this final target. A post-hoc power analysis will be calculated from the final sample. ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT02270658. RESULTS: The first 100 patients are predominantly males (n=69), age: 52±10 years, body mass index: 32.7±3.9 kg/m2 with frequent co-morbidities. CONCLUSIONS: The MORPHEOS trial has a unique study design including a run-in period; pill counting, and detailed analysis of hypertension-mediated organ damage in patients with uncontrolled HTN that will allow clarification of the impact of OSA treatment with CPAP.

Objective: To evaluate the interrelationships between childhood maltreatment, life satisfaction (LS), and depressive symptoms, and to investigate LS as a mediating factor in the association between childhood maltreatment and depressive symptoms. Methods: The sample consisted of 342 adolescents, aged 11 to 17 years (mean = 13.3, SD = 1.52 years), recruited from a public school in Salvador, Brazil. Participants filled out instruments for the collection of sociodemographic data and evaluation of childhood maltreatment, LS, and depressive symptoms. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to evaluate the mediating effect of LS. Results: We detected significant negative correlations between childhood maltreatment and LS and between LS and depressive symptoms. We observed a significant positive correlation between childhood maltreatment and depressive symptoms. LS partially mediated the association between childhood maltreatment and depressive symptoms, mitigating the impact of maltreatment. Conclusion: LS played an important mediating role in the association between childhood maltreatment and depressive symptoms. Longitudinal studies are recommended to fully elucidate these associations, reinforcing the need for attention and care of this vulnerable population.

Resumo Mesmo diante de dados internacionais sobre prevalência de problemas de comportamento durante a infância/adolescência, ainda há necessidade de explorar problemas emocionais/comportamentais vivenciados pelos adolescentes brasileiros, especialmente em situações de altos problemas sociais ou de vulnerabilidade social (VS). Foi realizado estudo observacional, transversal, com amostra de conveniência, que teve por objetivo descrever os problemas emocionais/comportamentais apresentados por adolescentes que vivem em um contexto de alta VS na cidade de Salvador-BA, a partir do ponto de vista de seus pais ou responsáveis. Foram aplicados questionário sociodemográfico e CBCL/6-18 numa amostra de 274 pais/responsáveis pelos adolescentes. Análises dos dados obtidos indicaram que 20,4% da amostra apresentaram problemas na faixa clínica para escala total do instrumento. Variáveis sociodemográficas podem influenciar os problemas de comportamento na adolescência, necessitando ser investigadas. Este estudo colabora com novos dados sobre psicopatologias infanto-juvenis em âmbito nacional, o que possibilita criar ações preventivas e encaminhamentos voltados para esta população.

Abstract Although there are international data on the prevalence of behavioral problems through childhood/adolescence, there is still a need to explore emotional/behavioral problems experienced by Brazilian adolescents, especially in situations of extreme social problems or social vulnerability (SV). This is an observational, cross-sectional study, carried out with a convenience sample, to describe emotional/behavioral problems of adolescents living in a high SV scenario in the city of Salvador-BA, from their parents or guardians’ point of view. Sociodemographic questionnaire and CBCL/6-18 were applied to a sample of 274 adolescents’ parents/guardians. Data analysis found that 20.4% of the sample had problems in the clinical range for CBCL’s Total Problems. Sociodemographic variables can impact behavioral problems in adolescence and need to be investigated. This study adds new data on child and youth psychopathologies at the national level and can promote preventive actions and referrals aimed at this population.

Resumen Aún cuando existan datos internacionales sobre la prevalencia de problemas de conducta durante la infancia/adolescencia, aún es necesario explorar los problemas emocionales/de conducta que experimentan los adolescentes brasileños, especialmente en contextos de alta vulnerabilidad social (VS). Se realizó un estudio observacional de conveniencia transversal para describir los problemas emocionales/conductuales presentados por adolescentes, de 11 a 17 años, que viven en un contexto de alta vulnerabilidad social en la ciudad de Salvador-BA, desde el punto de vista de los padres/tutores. Se aplicó un cuestionario sociodemográfico y el CBCL/6-18 a una muestra de 274 padres/tutores de adolescentes. El análisis de los datos indicó que el 20.4% de la muestra tenía problemas en el rango clínico en la escala completa del instrumento. Las variables sociodemográficas pueden influir en los problemas de conducta en la adolescencia y deben investigarse. Este estudio colabora con nuevos datos sobre las psicopatologías infantiles y juveniles en todo el país, lo que permite crear acciones preventivas y referencias dirigidas a esa población.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the influence of drip irrigation and micro-sprinkler on the dendrometric parameters of two Eucalyptus hybrids at 45 months. The experiment was carried out in Aquidauana, MS, using an experimental design of randomized blocks in split plot scheme. The dendrometric attributes of the trees evaluated were height, diameter at breast height, volume, shape factor, taper, and dry mass production. The Grancam hybrid has the highest growth in height, and the Urograndis has the largest diameter at breast height. Drip irrigation provides an increase of 36.7% in the wood volume of eucalyptus hybrids when compared to those that were not irrigated.

Resumo Levantamentos fitossociológicos constituem uma ferramenta de suporte à tomada de decisão em projetos de restauração florestal, contribuindo com a manutenção da biodiversidade vegetal e com o aumento da qualidade dos serviços prestados por esses ecossistemas. O presente estudo teve como objetivo realizar o levantamento fitossociológico das formações florestais presentes no Espaço Ecológico Educativo, Pinheiral-RJ e, com base nos resultados, discutir ações necessárias para restauração dos remanescentes. Foram instaladas parcelas retangulares de 20 x10 m, distribuídas arbitrariamente nas florestas de encosta e aluvial, totalizando 0,3 ha de área amostral e cerca de 5,0 % da área florestal. Todos os indivíduos com Diâmetro a Altura do Peito (DAP) > 5,0 cm foram registrados. A floresta aluvial apresentou 27 espécies e densidade de 1.600 ind./ha, enquanto na de encosta foram 37 espécies e densidade de 1.393 ind./ha. O índice de Shannon foi 2,98 e a equabilidade foi 0,56 para floresta de encosta e, respectivamente 2,59 e 0,48, para floresta aluvial. A composição florística variou significativamente entre as duas formações florestais analisadas, as quais apresentaram baixos valores de riqueza e diversidade de espécies, demonstrando a necessidade de enriquecimento com espécies florestais, na tentativa de restabelecer os valores de biodiversidade encontrados em ecossistemas florestais de referência.

Abstract Phytosociological surveys may consist as decision-making supports for implementation of projects aimed at maintaining the biodiversity or increasing the quality of services provided by the ecosystems. The present study was an immediate making the phytosociological survey of forest formation present at ‘Espaço Ecológico Educativo’, Pinheiral - RJ state, and based on the results, discuss actions needed to restore the remaining. Rectangular plots of 20 x 10 m were installed and distributed randomly in the slopes and alluvial forests, totaling 0.3 ha of the sampling area, about 5.0 % of the forest. All the individuals with Diameter at Breast Height (DBH)> 5.0 cm were recorded. The alluvial forests showed 27 species and density of 1600 ind./ha while in the slope were 37 species and the density of 1393 ind./ha. The Shannon index was 2.98 and the evenness was 0.56 for the forest in the slope and for alluvial forest the diversity was 2.59 and the evenness was 0.48. The floristic composition varied significantly between the forest types. The forest formations present in the area had low richness and diversity of species, demonstrating the need for enrichment in an attempt to restore the biodiversity values found in the reference forest ecosystems.

RESUMO OBJETIVO Avaliar se grupo etário, complicações ou comorbidades estão associados ao tempo de internação de mulheres submetidas à cesariana. MÉTODOS Estudo transversal realizado entre junho de 2012 e julho de 2017, com 64.437 mulheres submetidas à cesariana e que não apresentaram condições adquiridas durante o tempo de permanência hospitalar. Os dados foram coletados a partir da alta hospitalar nas instituições nacionais de saúde, utilizando o sistema Diagnosis-Related Groups [Grupos de Diagnósticos Relacionados] (DRG Brasil®). Foram incluídos os DRG referentes à cesariana com complicações ou comorbidades adicionais ao diagnóstico inicial (DRG 765) e cesariana sem complicações ou comorbidades associadas (DRG 766). A influência do grupo etário e comorbidades ou complicações presentes na admissão sobre o tempo de permanência hospitalar foi avaliada por meio da análise de variância. O tamanho do efeito foi verificado pelo d de Cohen, que permite avaliar a relevância clínica. Os níveis de criticidade foram identificados utilizando o teste de Duncan. RESULTADOS O maior tempo de permanência hospitalar foi observado nos grupos etários de 15 a 17 anos e 45 anos ou mais. Mulheres que apresentaram complicações ou comorbidades presentes à admissão também apresentaram maior tempo de permanência hospitalar. Quantos aos níveis de criticidade, notou-se que seu aumento estava associado ao aumento na média do tempo de permanência hospitalar. CONCLUSÕES O tempo de permanência hospitalar de mulheres é maior entre aquelas pertencentes aos grupos etários de 15 a 17 anos e 45 anos ou mais. A presença de comorbidades associadas, como a eclâmpsia, o distúrbio hipertensivo pré-existente com proteinúria superposta e a hipertensão gestacional (induzida pela gravidez) com proteinúria significativa aumentam o tempo de permanência hospitalar. Este estudo possibilitou a construção de perfis distintos de níveis de criticidade a partir da combinação de grupos etários e das principais comorbidades, os quais se apresentaram diretamente relacionados ao tempo de permanência hospitalar.

Hospital discharge data were collected from national health institutions, using the Diagnosis-Related Groups system (DRG Brasil®). The DRG referring to cesarean section with additional complications or comorbidities (DRG 765) and cesarean section without complications or associated comorbidities (DRG 766) were included in the initial diagnosis. The influence of age group and comorbidities or complications present at admission on the length of hospital stay was assessed based on the means of the analysis of variance. The size of the effect was verified by Cohen’s D, which allows evaluating clinical relevance. The criticality levels were identified using the Duncan test. RESULTS The longest length of hospital stay was observed in the age group from 15 to 17 years old and among those aged 45 years old or more. The hospital stay of women with complications or comorbidities at the time of admission was also longer. Moreover, it was noted that the increase in criticality level was associated with an increase in the mean length of hospital stay. CONCLUSIONS The length of hospital stay of women is higher among those belonging to the age group ranging from 15 to 17 years old and for those aged 45 years old or more. The presence of associated comorbidities, such as eclampsia, pre-existing hypertensive disorder with superimposed proteinuria and gestational hypertension (induced by pregnancy) with significant proteinuria increase the length of hospital stay. This study enabled the construction of distinct criticality level profiles based on the combination of age groups and the main comorbidities, which were directly related to the length of hospital stay.

RESUMO Objetivo: O objetivo geral é analisar criticamente, por trás dos discursos criados em torno do sucesso, as ideologias e construções do management no Blog "Geração de Valor". Originalidade/relevância: O fenômeno Pop Management tem sido popular no contexto brasileiro. Nele, os indivíduos buscam fórmulas para se sobressair e ganhar seu lugar de sucesso como empreendedores. Um dos disseminadores dessa ideologia tem sido o blog "Geração de Valor". Este artigo inova ao tratar da temática sem estrelismos e fantasiosos romantismos. Principais aspectos metodológicos: Este artigo busca, por meio da Análise Crítica do Discurso (ACD), analisar alguns textos do Blog Geração de Valor. Síntese dos principais resultados: Percebemos que a voz de Flávio Augusto nada mais é do que uma das várias vozes que buscam defender, inclusive no campo da Administração, o culto à vitória pessoal e o desdém às práticas coletivistas de organização social. Análises desta natureza ainda são escassas no campo, pois demandam leituras enriquecidas do texto em relação ao contexto e à intertextualidade. Análises críticas contrapõem visões hegemônicas e aguçam o senso crítico do leitor. Além disso, são úteis em evidenciar o culto midiático que a Administração vem recebendo.

ABSTRACT Purpose: The general objective is to critically analyze the ideologies and constructions of management ideology in the Internet blog called Geração de Valor (Generation of Value), behind the discourse of success. Originality/value: The pop-management phenomenon has been widespread in the Brazilian context. It leads individuals to look for formulas of excel and achieve success as entrepreneurs. One of the disseminators of this ideology has been Geração de Valor. This article innovates when dealing with thematic without prima donna behaviors or fanciful romanticism. Design/methodology/approach: This article aims to analyze texts available on Geração de Valor through critical discourse analysis (CDA). Findings: We conclude that the voice of the businessman and blogger Flávio Augusto da Silva is nothing more than one of several voices, including in administration, that seek to defend the cult of personal victory and disdain for the collectivist practices of social organization. This kind of analysis is still scarce in this field of study, as they require enriched readings of the text in terms of context and intertextuality. Critical analyses contradict hegemonic visions and sharpen the reader's critical sense. Also, they are useful in highlighting the cult following that Administration has been receiving by the media.

Objective: to describe the sociodemographic characteristics associated with depressive symptoms in hospitalized elderly. Methods: cross-sectional study carried out in a public teaching hospital. The sample was composed of 96 individuals aged ≥60 years, hospitalized in a clinical and surgical unit. The data collection was performed through a semi-structured interview with the instrument Geriatric Depression Scale. The variables were described through frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviations. The Fisher’s exact test was used to assess the association with depressive symptoms. Results: a total of 45.8% of the elderly presented mild to moderate depressive symptoms and 1.0% had severe symptoms. There was a predominance of women, between 60 and 79 years old, living with a partner, with low level of education (one to seven years of schooling), Catholics, retirees or pensioners, and with a family income of up to three minimum wages. Conclusion: the labor situation presented a statistically significant association with depressive symptoms in the hospitalized elderly.

Objetivo: descrever as características sociodemográficas associadas a sintomas depressivos em idosos hospitalizados. Métodos: estudo transversal realizado em hospital público de ensino. Amostra de 96 indivíduos com idade ≥60 anos, internados em unidade clínica e cirúrgica. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de entrevista semiestruturada com o instrumento Geriatric Depression Scale. As variáveis foram descritas por frequências, porcentagem, média e desvio padrão. Para avaliar a associação com os sintomas depressivos foi utilizado o teste Exato de Fisher. Resultados: 45,8% dos idosos apresentaram sintomas depressivos leves a moderados e 1,0% sintomas graves. Houve predominância de mulheres, idade entre 60 e 79 anos, com companheiro, baixa escolaridade (um a sete anos de estudo), religião católica, aposentados ou pensionistas e renda familiar de até três salários mínimos. Conclusão: a situação trabalhista apresentou associação estatisticamente significante com sintomas depressivos em idosos hospitalizados.

OBJECTIVE: To characterize alpha-chain variant hemoglobins with electric mobility similar to that of hemoglobin S in a newborn screening program. METHODS: βS allele and alpha-thalassemia deletions were investigated in 14 children who had undefined hemoglobin at birth and an electrophoretic profile similar to that of hemoglobin S when they were six months old. Gene sequencing and restriction enzymes (DdeI, BsaJI, NlaIV, Bsu36I and TaqI) were used to identify hemoglobins. Clinical and hematological data were obtained from children who attended scheduled medical visits. RESULTS: The following alpha chain variants were found: seven children with hemoglobin Hasharon [alpha2 47(CE5) Asp>His, HbA2:c.142G>C], all associated with alpha-thalassemia, five with hemoglobin Ottawa [alpha1 15(A13) Gly>Arg, HBA1:c.46G>C], one with hemoglobin St Luke's [alpha1 95(G2) Pro>Arg, HBA1:c.287C>G] and another one with hemoglobin Etobicoke [alpha212 84(F5) Ser>Arg, HBA212:c.255C>G]. Two associations with hemoglobin S were found: one with hemoglobin Ottawa and one with hemoglobin St Luke's. The mutation underlying hemoglobin Etobicoke was located in a hybrid α212 allele in one child. There was no evidence of clinically relevant hemoglobins detected in this study. CONCLUSION: Apparently these are the first cases of hemoglobin Ottawa, St Luke's, Etobicoke and the α212 gene described in Brazil. The hemoglobins detected in this study may lead to false diagnosis of sickle cell trait or sickle cell disease when only isoelectric focusing is used in neonatal screening. Additional tests are necessary for the correct identification of hemoglobin variants.

FUNDAMENTO: Pouco se conhece sobre a prevalência da hipertensão arterial na cidade de São Paulo, SP, Brasil. OBJETIVO: Identificar a prevalência da hipertensão referida na cidade de São Paulo. MÉTODOS: Realizaram-se 613 entrevistas por telefone, a partir das listas residenciais do sistema de telefonia fixa. A amostra foi calculada com prevalência estimada de hipertensão em 20,0%. RESULTADOS: A prevalência referida de hipertensão foi de 23,0% e 9,0% dos entrevistados referiram que o valor de sua última medida da pressão foi maior que 140/90 mmHg, porém não tinham conhecimento de que eram hipertensos, totalizando uma prevalência de 32,0%. Os hipertensos referiram que: 89,0% fazem tratamento e 35,2% estavam controlados; 27,0% faltam às consultas; 16,2% deixam de tomar os remédios; 14,8% apresentam história de acidente vascular encefálico, 27,8% cardiopatia e 38,7% hipercolesterolemia; 71,2% receberam orientação para diminuir sal, 64,6% para realizar atividade física, 60,0% para perder peso e 26,2% para controlar estresse; e 78,9% mediam a pressão regularmente. Houve relação estatisticamente significante (p < 0,05) para: 1) faltar às consultas com maior tempo de tratamento e acompanhamento irregular de saúde; 2) deixar de tomar os remédios com tabagismo, etilismo e a não realização de acompanhamento de saúde; 3) realizar tratamento para hipertensão com dislipidemia, idade mais elevada e maior tempo de uso de anticoncepcional, no caso das mulheres; e 4) índice de massa corporal alterado com presença de diabete, hipercolesterolemia, pressão sistólica não controlada e uso de mais de um anti-hipertensivo. CONCLUSÃO: A prevalência referida de hipertensão na cidade de São Paulo assemelha-se à prevalência identificada em outros estudos.

BACKGROUND: Little is known about the prevalence of hypertension in São Paulo, Brazil. OBJECTIVE: To identify the prevalence of self-reported hypertension in the city of São Paulo. METHODS: There were 613 telephone interviews using directories of household landlines. The sample was calculated with an estimated prevalence of hypertension in 20.0%. RESULTS: The prevalence of self-reported hypertension was 23.0% and 9.0% of respondents reported that the value of their last pressure measurement was greater than 140/90 mmHg, but they were unaware that they were hypertensive, with a total prevalence 32.0%. Hypertensive patients reported that: 89.0% were under treatment and 35.2% were controlled; 27.0% miss medical appointments; 16.2% stop taking drugs; 14.8% have a history of stroke; 27.8% had heart disease and 38.7% had hypercholesterolemia; 71.2% received advice to reduce salt, 64.6% to perform physical activity, 60.0% to lose weight loss and 26.2% to control stress; and 78.9% measured pressure regularly. There was a statistically significant relation (p < 0.05) for: 1) missing medical appointments with longer treatment and irregular health monitoring; 2) stop taking the drugs with smoking, alcohol and failure to monitore health; 3) carry out treatment for hypertension with dyslipidemia, higher age and longer use of contraceptives for women; and 4) body mass index changed with diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, uncontrolled systolic blood pressure and use of more than one anti-hypertension drug. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of self-reported hypertension in the city of São Paulo resembles the prevalence found in other studies.

OBJETIVO: Identificar la prevalencia de la hipertensión referida en la ciudad de São Paulo. MÉTODOS: Se realizaron 613 entrevistas por teléfono, a partir de las listas residenciales del sistema de telefonía fija. La muestra fue calculada con prevalencia estimada de hipertensión en 20,0%. RESULTADOS: La prevalencia referida de hipertensión fue de 23,0% y 9,0% de los entrevistados refirieron que el valor de su última medición de la presión fue mayor que 140/90 mmHg, sin embargo no sabían que eran hipertensos, totalizando una prevalencia de 32,0%. Los hipertensos refirieron que: 89,0% hacen tratamiento y 35,2% estaban controlados; 27,0% faltan a las consultas; 16,2% dejan de tomar los remedios; 14,8% presentan historia de accidente cerebro vascular, 27,8% cardiopatía y 38,7% hipercolesterolemia; 71,2% recibieron orientación de disminuir la sal, 64,6% de realizar actividad física, 60,0% para perder peso y 26,2% de controlar el stress; y 78,9% medían la presión regularmente. Hubo relación estadísticamente significativa (p < 0,05) para: 1 - faltar a las consultas con mayor tiempo de tratamiento y acompañamiento irregular de salud; 2 - dejar de tomar los remedios con tabaquismo, etilismo y la no realización de acompañamiento de salud; 3 - realizar tratamiento para hipertensión con dislipidemia, edad más elevada y mayor tiempo de uso de anticonceptivo, en el caso de las mujeres; y 4 - índice de masa corporal alterado con presencia de diabetes, hipercolesterolemia, presión sistólica no controlada y uso de más de un antihipertensivo. CONCLUSIÓN: La prevalencia referida de hipertensión en la ciudad de São Paulo se asemeja a la prevalencia identificada en otros estudios.

TEMA: descrever os aspectos fonoaudiológicos de um caso de Síndrome de Crouzon, com idade de 6:4 anos, submetendo-o às avaliações das áreas de fala, linguagem, cognição, sistema estomatognático e audição. PROCEDIMENTOS: o sujeito foi submetido às seguintes avaliações: ABFW, Prova de Vocabulário Receptivo, Avaliação do Desenvolvimento de Linguagem-Cognição, Avaliação de Estruturas e Funções do Sistema Estomatognático, Audiometria Tonal Limiar, Imitanciometria e Logoaudiometria. RESULTADOS: a Audiometria Tonal identificou perda auditiva condutiva de grau moderado bilateralmente, apresentando compatibilidade com a Logoaudiometria e a Imitanciometria. A Avaliação de Sistema Estomatognático indicou tônus de estruturas diminuído, com postura e mobilidade alteradas. As funções de sucção, mastigação, deglutição e respiração mostraram-se alteradas. Na avaliação da Fonologia, identificaram-se simplificação do encontro consonantal, plosivação de fricativa e outros. Em Fluência, os dados estavam abaixo do esperado para a mesma faixa etária e sexo. Na prova de Pragmática o número de atos por minuto foi 14,4, apresentando como meio comunicativo predominante o gestual. Na prova de Vocabulário Receptivo, o valor total de designações usuais estava 7,1% abaixo do valor de referência. No Vocabulário Expressivo, os dados apontaram para referência entre 4 e 5 anos, abaixo dos parâmetros esperados para a idade do sujeito do estudo. Em Linguagem e Cognição, as análises indicaram defasagem em relação à fase de desenvolvimento. CONCLUSÃO: os comprometimentos causados pela síndrome são difusos e interligados, tendo a importância desse estudo apresentar os aspectos fonoaudiológicos de um caso de Síndrome de Crouzon e fornecer dados para aprofundar a investigação fonoaudiológica e o processo terapêutico.

BACKGROUND: to describe the results of speech, language, cognition, stomatognathic system and hearing assessments of a case of Crouzon syndrome at the age 6:4 years. PROCEDURE: the subject carried out the following evaluations: ABFW, Test of Receptive Vocabulary, Language-Cognition Development Evaluation, Evaluation of Structures and Functions of the Stomatognathic System, pure-tone audiometry threshold, immitance measures and vocal audiometry. RESULTS: the pure-tone audiometry identified bilateral moderate conductive hearing loss, compatible with vocal audiometry's and immitance measures' results. The stomatognathic system evaluation showed that the structures had reduced tonus and altered posture and mobility. Suction, chewing, deglutition and breathing functions were also altered. Phonologically, the following processes were identified: Cluster Simplification, Stopping of Fricatives and Others. In the Fluency evaluation, subject's performance was below the expected scores for matched age and gender. In the Pragmatics test, the child had 14.4 acts per minute and, predominantly, gestural communication. The Receptive Vocabulary Test showed scores 7.1% below reference. In the Expressive Vocabulary Test, data indicated a performance compatible to the reference values of 4 and 5 year-old children, below the expected scores for the subject's age. Regarding language and cognition, the analysis indicated a gap between the child's performance and the developmental level. CONCLUSION: the deficits caused by the syndrome are diffuse and interconnected. The present study had the aim to present the Speech-Language and Hearing Pathology associated aspects of a Crouzon syndrome case and to provide initial data to further investigate these aspects and the intervention process.
