ABSTRACT The study aimed to evaluate the combined use of ultrasound (US) and incorporation of micronized salt (MS) as a strategy for reducing sodium without affecting the quality of beef burgers. Ten treatments were manufactured with varying MS content (0.75 %, 1.0 %, and 1.5 %) and ultrasound time (0, 5, and 10 min), with a control treatment manufactured at 1.5 % of regular salt without ultrasound. The beef burgers formulated with 0.75 % MS submitted to the US for 10 min (M0.75US10) reduced the salt content by 50 %, thereby efficiently maintaining texture profile (hardness, springiness, cohesiveness, and chewiness) and decreasing the cooking loss and diameter reduction compared to the control treatment. M0.75US10 treatment also preserved the color of samples after cooking, keeping myoglobin stable. Therefore, micronized salt coupled with ultrasound technology reduces sodium chloride content in beef burgers, enabling the application of clean technology to reduce sodium content in meat products efficiently.

Resumen Introducción: El catéter venoso central es necesario en los cuidados pediátricos, sin embargo, es una causa importante de bacteriemia nosocomial con 25% de mortandad. El profesional de enfermería es responsable del mantenimiento del catéter venoso central con el propósito de evitar complicaciones locales y sistémicas como la endocarditis y la bacteriemia relacionadas al tratamiento endovenoso. Objetivo: Describir las intervenciones de enfermería para el mantenimiento del catéter venoso central en pacientes pediátricos de un hospital especializado. Metodología: Diseño observacional, descriptivo, transversal, muestra conformada por 85 profesionales de enfermería que otorgaron cuidados directos a niños hospitalizados y recibieron capacitación, muestreo no probabilístico, el instrumento utilizado fue una lista de verificación de mantenimiento del catéter venoso central. Se recolectaron datos con la técnica de observación. El estudio cumple con los aspectos éticos de la ley general de salud en materia de investigación. Resultados: Las intervenciones de enfermería se realizaron con un cumplimiento global de 90.1%, se enfatiza que 70.6% efectuaron lavado de manos antes de manipular el dispositivo. La limpieza y mantenimiento del sitio de inserción la realizaron 98.8%, desinfectaron puertos y conexiones, identificaron lúmenes 92.9%. Conclusión: Los profesionales de enfermería realizan las intervenciones para el mantenimiento del catéter venoso central con un cumplimiento bueno. Sin embargo, las intervenciones con menor cumplimiento que requieren mejora son la higiene de manos, los tiempos para cambios de equipo y soluciones, la desinfección de puertos y conexiones; esenciales para disminuir las infecciones del torrente sanguíneo. Además de estudios futuros acerca de los factores profesionales e institucionales asociados al cumplimiento.

Abstract Introduction: The central venous catheter is necessary in pediatric care; however, it is an important cause of nosocomial bacteremia, with 25% mortality. The nursing professional is responsible for the maintenance of the central venous catheter, in order to prevent local and systemic complications such as endocarditis and bacteremia related to intravenous treatment. Objective: To describe the nursing interventions for the maintenance of the central venous catheter in pediatric patients of a specialized hospital. Methodology: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional design, sample made up of 85 nursing professionals who provided direct care to hospitalized children and received training, non-probabilistic sampling; the instrument used was a central venous catheter maintenance checklist, and data were collected with the observation technique. The survey complies with the ethical aspects of the general health law on research. Results: Nursing interventions were performed with an overall compliance of 90.1%; it is emphasized that 70.6% washed their hands before handling the device. Cleaning and maintenance of the insertion site was carried out by 98.8%, ports and connections were disinfected, and 92.9% lumens were identified. Conclusion: Nursing professionals performed interventions for the maintenance of the central venous catheter with a good compliance. However, the interventions with lower compliance that require improvement are hand hygiene, times for changing equipment and solutions, disinfection of ports and connections, which are essential to reduce infections in the bloodstream. In addition to future surveys about the professional and institutional factors associated with compliance.

Abstrato Introdução: O cateter venoso central é necessário no atendimento pediátrico, porém, é uma importante causa de bacteremia nosocomial, com mortalidade de 25%. O profissional de enfermagem é responsável pela manutenção do cateter venoso central para evitar complicações locais e sistêmicas como endocardite e bacteremia relacionadas ao tratamento intravenoso. Objetivo: Descrever as intervenções de enfermagem para manutenção do cateter venoso central em pacientes pediátricos de um hospital especializado. Metodologia: Delineamento observacional, descritivo, transversal, amostra composta por 85 profissionais de enfermagem que prestavam assistência direta à criança hospitalizada e receberam treinamento, amostragem não probabilística, o instrumento utilizado foi um checklist de manutenção de cateter venoso central e os dados foram coletados com o técnica de observação. O estudo atende aos aspectos éticos da lei geral de saúde em relação à pesquisa. Resultados: As intervenções de enfermagem foram realizadas com uma adesão global de 90,1%, destaca-se que 70,6% lavaram as mãos antes de manusear o aparelho. A limpeza e manutenção do sítio de inserção foi realizada por 98,8%, as portas e conexões foram desinfetadas, os lúmens foram identificados por 92,9%. Conclusões: Os profissionais de enfermagem realizam as intervenções para manutenção do cateter venoso central com boa adesão. No entanto, as intervenções com menor adesão que requerem melhoria são a higienização das mãos, tempos de troca de equipamentos e soluções, desinfecção de portas e conexões; essencial para reduzir as infecções da corrente sanguínea. Além de estudos futuros sobre os fatores profissionais e institucionais associados à adesão.

Resumen Introducción. El sistema de producción de cacao forma parte de la agricultura colombiana en las subregiones de Montes de María y La Mojana en el departamento de Sucre. En la literatura no hay evidencia de un estudio de caracterización y tipificación del sistema de producción. Objetivo. Analizar los aspectos socioeconómicos y tecnológicos del cultivo del cacao para la subregión de los Montes de María y La Mojana, y definir grupos homogéneos de productores que compartan las mismas características que sirvan de dominio de recomendación. Materiales y métodos. Se diseñaron y aplicaron encuestas a los agricultores de la región de Montes de María y La Mojana durante el año 2019. Se seleccionaron, por muestreo determinístico, veintidós agricultores. El análisis consistió en la tipificación de los agricultores por el método de distancias y agrupamiento jerárquico de Ward. Resultados. Se obtuvieron tres grupos de agricultores. El grupo GI con nivel tecnológico bajo, la escolaridad de los agricultores fue primaria incompleta, la producción presentó bajos rendimientos (420 kg ha-1). El Grupo GII agricultores con secundaria incompleta, rendimientos más altos que los del GI (491 kg ha-1), incorporaban prácticas como podas de formación y mantenimiento. El grupo GIII con mayor nivel de escolaridad, uso de opciones tecnológicas como mejores materiales de siembra y técnicas de manejo del cultivo, obtuvieron los rendimientos más altos entre todos los agricultores (550 kg ha-1). Conclusión. Las fincas tipificadas mostraron diferencias entre los grupos y se llegó a concluir que el grupo G3 fue el que obtuvo mayor rendimiento por hectárea, lo cual se atribuyó a la incorporación de nuevas tecnologías.

Abstract Introduction. The cocoa production system is an integral part of Colombian agriculture in the subregions of Montes de María and La Mojana in the department of Sucre. There is currently no evidence in the literature regarding a characterization and typification of the study of this production system. Objective. To analyze the socio-economic and technological aspects of cocoa cultivation in the Montes de María and La Mojana subregions and define homogeneous groups of producers sharing similar characteristics that serve as recommendation domains. Materials and methods. Surveys were designed and conducted among farmers in the Montes de María and La Mojana region during 2019. Twenty-two farmers were selected through deterministic sampling. The analysis involved the typification of farmers using the distance method and Ward's hierarchical clustering. Results. Three groups of farmers were identified. Group GI exhibited a low technological level, with farmers having incomplete primary education and low yields (420 kg ha-1). Group GII consisted of farmers with incomplete secondary education, achieving higher yields than GI (491 kg ha-1) and incorporating practices like formation and maintenance pruning. Group GIII had a higher level of education, used technological options such as improved planting materials and crop management techniques, and obtained the highest yields among all farmers (550 kg ha-1). Conclusion. The typified farms displayed differences among the groups, concluding that group G3 achieved the highest yields per hectare, attributed to the adoption of new technologies.

Resumen Conocido originalmente por sus efectos deletéreos en la salud, recientemente se ha reconocido al sulfuro de hidrógeno (H2S) como un gasotransmisor de importancia biológica, al igual que el óxido nítrico y el monóxido de carbono. El H2S puede producirse de forma endógena en las células de mamíferos por dos vías: la vía enzimática y la vía no enzimática. Cuando se produce por la vía enzimática, su síntesis se lleva a cabo a partir de los aminoácidos L-cisteína o metionina mediante transulfuración y transmetilación. También se puede producir el H2S a partir donadores de grupos sulfuro como, por ejemplo, compuestos orgánicos que se encuentran presentes en algunos vegetales. Actualmente es bien conocido el papel del H2S como protector a nivel cerebral y cardiaco, y cada vez adquiere mayor relevancia su estudio como coadyuvante terapéutico en padecimientos metabólicos como la obesidad y la diabetes mellitus de tipo 2. El objetivo de esta revisión es examinar cómo impacta el aporte de donadores y precursores del sulfuro de hidrógeno por la dieta en la salud y la enfermedad.

Abstract Initially known for its deleterious health effects, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) has recently been recognized as a biologically important gas carrier, like nitric oxide and carbon monoxide. H2S is produced endogenously in mammalian cells by enzymatic and non-enzymatic pathways. When it is produced by the enzymatic pathway, its synthesis is carried out from the amino acid L-cysteine through the transsulfuration pathway. It can also be produced endogenously from exogenous compounds that function as H2S donors as, for example, the naturally occurring organic donors found in some plants. Currently, the role of H2S is well known as brain and cardiac protector, and its research as a therapeutic adjuvant in metabolic diseases such as obesity and type-2 diabetes is becoming increasingly important. The objective of this review is to examine how the contribution of donors and precursors of hydrogen sulfide by the diet impacts health and disease.

ABSTRACT Background/Objectives: Current research has identified direct victimization at home as one of the main predictors of child-to-parent violence (CPV). However, the mechanisms involved in this relationship have not been studied. Thus, we first analyze the differences between CPV offenders and offenders who have committed other types of offenses, as well as the differences between two types of CPV offenders: specialists (those who have only committed CPV) and generalists (those who have committed CPV in addition to other offenses), in multiple risk factors. Next, we specifically examine direct victimization at home and its relationship with social-cognitive processing in CPV. Method: The sample consisted of 208 Spanish young offenders recruited from the Juvenile Justice Service (163 males) aged 14-20 years. Concretely, 83 were CPV offenders, 126 other offenders and concerning the CPV group, 57 were specialists and 26 generalists. A wide range of individual, family, and social variables were evaluated. Results: Compared to other offenders, CPV offenders show more socio-cognitive difficulties, less parental warmth and more parental criticism/rejection, more direct victimization at home and more vicarious victimization at school and in the street. Specialist and generalist CPV offenders differ significantly in their characteristics, with the generalists showing a more negative profile than the specialists. The most important result is that direct victimization at home is linked to social-cognitive processing, and, while some of the variables (anticipation of positive consequences and justification of violence) are positively related to CPV motivated by instrumental reasons, other variables (anger and aggressive response access) are positively related to CPV motivated by reactive reasons. Conclusions: Dysfunctional social-cognitive processing is implicated in the relationship between direct victimization at home and CPV, varying the components involved depending on the reasons for the violence. It is discussed the implications of the obtained results for research and professional practice.

RESUMEN Antecedentes/Objetivos: La investigación actual ha identificado a la victimización directa en el hogar como uno de los principales predictores de la violencia filio-parental (VFP). Sin embargo, los mecanismos implicados en esta relación no han sido estudiados. Así, en el presente estudio analizamos, en primer lugar, las diferencias entre jóvenes infractores con delitos relacionados con la VFP y jóvenes infractores con otro tipo de delitos, así como las diferencias entre dos tipos de infractores: especialistas (los que han cometido sólo delitos relacionados con la VFP) y generalistas (los que han cometido delitos relacionados con la VFP y además otros delitos), en múltiples factores de riesgo. A continuación, examinamos específicamente la victimización directa en el hogar y su relación con el procesamiento socio-cognitivo en la VFP. Método: La muestra estuvo compuesta por 208 jóvenes infractores españoles reclutados en el Servicio de Justicia Juvenil (163 chicos) con edades comprendidas entre los 14 y los 20 años. Concretamente, 83 con delitos relacionados con la VFP (57 especialistas y 26 generalistas) y 126 con otros delitos. Se evaluó una amplia gama de variables individuales, familiares y sociales. Resultados: En comparación con otros infractores, los jóvenes con delitos relacionados con la VFP muestran más dificultades socio-cognitivas, menos calidez parental y más crítica/rechazo parental, más victimización directa en el hogar y más victimización vicaria en la escuela y en la calle. Los especialistas y generalistas difieren significativamente en sus características, mostrando los generalistas un perfil más negativo que los especialistas. Más importante, la victimización directa en el hogar se vincula con el procesamiento socio-cognitivo y, mientras algunas de las variables (anticipación de consecuencias positivas y justificación de la violencia) se relacionan positivamente con la VFP motivada por razones instrumentales, otras variables (ira y acceso de respuesta agresiva) se relacionan positivamente con la VFP motivada por razones reactivas. Conclusiones: El procesamiento socio-cognitivo disfuncional está implicado en la relación entre la victimización directa en el hogar y la VFP, variando los componentes involucrados según los motivos de la violencia. Se discuten las implicaciones de los resultados obtenidos para la investigación y la práctica profesional.

RESUMEN Los avances tecnológicos y del conocimiento hicieron que un mayor número de pacientes con enfermedad crónica gastrointestinal pasen de ser atendidos por el pediatra al control por los médicos de adultos durante una de las etapas más vulnerables de la vida: la adolescencia. El Grupo de Trabajo de Transición del Comité de Gastroenterología de la Sociedad Argentina de Pediatría realizó una búsqueda de literatura exhaustiva y convocó a especialistas referentes del país, con el objeto de unificar los criterios basados en la evidencia y la experiencia. De esta manera, se proponen una serie de recomendaciones para todo el equipo de salud (pediatra, gastroenterólogo infantil, nutricionista, gastroenterólogo de adultos, psicólogo, enfermería), incluso para pacientes y familias, que faciliten el proceso de transición y optimicen el seguimiento, el control, la prevención de complicaciones y la calidad de vida de los pacientes con enfermedades crónicas gastrointestinales.

ABSTRACT Technological advances and the globalization of knowledge have led to a considerable increase in the number of patients with chronic gastrointestinal disease who transition from pediatric to adult care during one of the most vulnerable life stages: adolescence. The Transition Working Group of the Gastroenterology Committee of the Sociedad Argentina de Pediatría conducted an exhaustive literature search and summoned leading specialists in the most frequent chronic pathologies from all over the country to unify criteria based on evidence and experience. As a result, a series of recommendations are proposed for the whole health team (pediatrician, pediatric gastroenterologist, nutritionist, adult gastroenterologist, psychologist, and nurse) including patients and families, to facilitate the transition process, optimize follow-up, prevent complications, and improve the quality of life of patients with chronic gastrointestinal diseases.

Resumen El opio y sus derivados, y recientemente los opioides, han acompañado a la humanidad desde las civilizaciones más antiguas hasta la actualidad. Sus efectos analgésicos, hipnóticos y placenteros no pasaron desapercibidos para los antiguos, los consideraron de utilidad médica y beneficiosa para el estado de ánimo. Hoy en día no existe otro tipo de medicamentos que puedan tratar el dolor más intenso tan eficientemente como estos potentes analgésicos. Sin embargo, el uso médico y recreativo de los opiáceos y los opioides conlleva riesgos para la salud, como la tolerancia, la hiperalgesia y la adicción. Actualmente, además de ser indiscutiblemente el tratamiento médico más poderoso para mitigar el sufrimiento ocasionado por el dolor, se ha convertido también en un problema de salud pública debido a la alta cantidad de personas con trastorno por uso de opioides y por las muertes ocasionadas por sobredosis. En esta revisión se hará mención de las bondades de los opiáceos y opioides, y también de los efectos no deseados que estos producen.

Abstract Opium and its derivatives, and recently the opioids have accompanied the humankind since the ancient civilizations to the present day. Its analgesic, hypnotic and pleasant effects did not go unnoticed by ancient people, which considered most of these effects of medical utility and noticed that they had remarkable mood benefits. Currently, there are no other kind of drugs that can palliate intense pain as efficiently as these powerful analgesics. However, the medical and recreational use of opiates and opioids may carry health risks such as tolerance, hyperalgesia, and addiction. Nowadays, in addition to being indisputably the most powerful medical treatment to alleviate the suffering caused by pain, it has also become a public health problem due to the high number of people with opioid use disorder that have facilitated deaths caused by opioids overdose. In this review we will discuss the medical benefits of opiates and opioids, as much as the unwanted effects they produce.

RESUMEN Introducción En México, esta indagación hasta donde se tiene conocimiento representa el primer trabajo multicéntrico que estudia el grado de desarrollo de la aptitud clínica en cuatro Unidades de medicina familiar del Sector Salud. Por consiguiente, la interrogante de investigación es ¿Cuál es el grado de desarrollo de la aptitud clínica en tres instituciones de salud?. Este estudio proveerá conocimientos que permitirán emprender investigaciones en las cuales se ensayen estrategias educativas que propicien el desarrollo de esta aptitud. Objetivo Determinar el grado de desarrollo de la aptitud clínica en residentes de medicina familiar de cuatro sedes académicas. Método Diseño prospectivo, transversal, observacional y multicéntrico. Se estudió toda la matrícula del ciclo académico 2019-2020 con consentimiento informado. Se construyó un instrumento que evaluó la variable “aptitud clínica” mediante ocho indicadores y 182 ítems; la validez conceptual, de contenido y confiabilidad se valoró por cinco médicos familiares con experiencia docente y en investigación educativa. Resultados De las cuatro sedes, las calificaciones globales más altas en los indicadores fueron alcanzadas por los R1 de la Unidad de Medicina Familiar # 20 del Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (UMF20 IMSS), R2 y R3 del Hospital General de Zona # 1 (HGZMF1 IMSS). Los R1 de la UMF20 alcanzaron los más altos puntajes en 3/8 indicadores. Los R2 y R3 del HGZMF1 lograron las más altas puntuaciones en 2/8 indicadores. Se estimaron diferencias entre R1 (n=46), entre R2 (n=47) y entre R3 (n=40) de las cuatro sedes por indicador y no se encontraron diferencias estadísticas significativas en ningún caso. Conclusiones El grado de desarrollo de la aptitud clínica se puede considerar de nivel medio en las cuatro sedes académicas. Esto en parte se puede explicar a que el instrumento exploró situaciones clínicas problematizadas, que exigieron del residente la reflexión crítica de su experiencia clínica antecedente.

ABSTRACT Introduction In Mexico, this inquiry to the best of our knowledge represents the first multicenter work that studies the degree of development of clinical aptitude in four Family Medicine Units of the Health Sector. Therefore, the research question is : What is the degree of development of clinical aptitude in three health institutions? This study will provide knowledge that will allow undertaking researches in which educational strategies that propitiate the development of this aptitude are tested. Objective To determine the degree of development of clinical aptitude in family medicine residents from four academic sites. Method Prospective, cross-sectional, observational and multicenter design. The entire enrollment of the 2019-2020 academic year was studied with informed consent. An instrument was constructed that assessed the variable "clinical aptitude" by means of eight indicators and 182 items; conceptual, content and reliability validity was assessed by five family physicians with teaching and educational research experience. Results Of the four sites, the highest overall scores on the indicators were achieved by the R1 of the Family Medicine Unit # 20 of the Mexican Social Security Institute (UMF20 IMSS), R2 and R3 of the General Zone Hospital # 1 (HGZMF1 IMSS). UMF20 R1s achieved the highest scores on 3/8 indicators. The R2s and R3s of HGZMF1 achieved the highest scores on 2/8 indicators. Differences were estimated between R1s (n=46), between R2s (n=47) and between R3s (n=40) of the four sites by indicator and no significant statistical differences were found in any case. Conclusions The degree of development of clinical aptitude can be considered medium level in the four academic sites. This can be partly explained by the fact that the instrument explored problematic clinical situations, which required the resident to reflect critically on his previous clinical experience.

Resumen Si se considera la naturaleza multidimensional de los fenómenos sociales, las demandas para la formación de profesionales y la importancia de contribuir al bienestar social desde los procesos educativos, el objetivo del presente artículo es analizar el desarrollo de una experiencia piloto de Aprendizaje-Servicio (ApS) interdisciplinario en una institución de educación superior chilena desde su aporte al entorno local y experiencia, lo que revela la articulación entre estudiantes, docentes y proyecto en una comunidad beneficiada. Desde un enfoque cualitativo, esta investigación-acción contó con la participación de 127 estudiantes, cinco académicos y 80 habitantes de una organización vecinal. Se aplicaron mapas de empatía, entrevistas grupales, entrevistas en profundidad y registros etnográficos. Los resultados muestran el aporte de la experiencia para generar servicios tangibles pertinentes a las necesidades definidas por la comunidad intervenida y para favorecer los aprendizajes disciplinares, compromiso social y pensamiento crítico de los estudiantes de las carreras participantes. Ello revela la importancia de avanzar hacia la interdisciplinariedad para abordar situaciones sociales. Los hallazgos refuerzan los logros pedagógicos de ApS y la participación de la comunidad que privilegia los bienes comunitarios por sobre los individuales. Además, se analizan ámbitos susceptibles de ser abordados en futuras investigaciones.

Abstract Considering the multidimensional nature of social phenomena, the demands for training professionals, and the importance of contributing to social welfare through educational processes, the objective of this article is to analyze the development of an interdisciplinary Service-Learning pilot experience in a Chilean higher education institution from its contribution to the local environment and participants experience, which emphasizes the coordination between students, teachers, and the project that enhances the contribution to the community. This action research, from a qualitative approach, had the participation of 127 students, five academics, and 80 inhabitants of a neighborhood organization, and used empathy maps, group interviews, in-depth interviews, and ethnographic records. The results provide information about the contribution of the experience to generate tangible services relevant to the needs identified by the target community, also the contribution to promote the disciplinary learning of students from the careers involved, including their social commitment and critical thinking, highlighting the importance of moving towards interdisciplinarity to address social situations. These findings reinforce the Service-Learning educational achievements, and community participation that prioritizes common goods over individual ones, and analyze potential areas to be approached in future experiences and research.

Resumen Introducción: la insuficiencia de nutrientes y elementos traza son factores de riesgo para el desarrollo de preeclampsia; estos nutrientes pueden provocar cambios en el estado hematológico que pueden usarse para la prevención de complicaciones durante la gestación. Objetivo: la presente investigación analizará el estado nutrimental y hematológico durante los 3 trimestres de gestación en mujeres gestantes con preeclampsia para evaluar su relación con esta alteración gestacional. Método: se realizó un estudio transversal, descriptivo y analítico en 78 gestantes que acudían a control prenatal, 11 de ellas diagnosticadas de preeclampsia. Los parámetros hematológicos fueron determinados por cartometría hemática. Se aplicó un cuestionario de frecuencia de consumo de alimentos para obtener el perfil de ingesta de nutrientes de las gestantes. Resultados: la presión arterial (PA) del grupo de normotensas fue significativamente menor en comparación con las gestantes con preeclampsia. El perfil hematológico varía durante la gestación y el valor de plaquetas fue significativamente más alto en las gestantes con preeclampsia. El estado nutrimental de las gestantes en el tercer trimestre tuvo mayor consumo de macronutrientes y micronutrientes comparado con el primero y el segundo trimestres de gestación; este mismo patrón se observó en las gestantes con preeclampsia. Las gestantes normotensas tuvieron un mayor aporte de minerales y de vitaminas con respecto a las gestantes con preeclampsia. Conclusión: los valores hematológicos se modifican durante cada trimestre de gestación. Las gestantes con preeclampsia tuvieron valores altos de plaquetas comparadas con las normotensas. Nuestros datos muestran un mayor aporte de minerales y vitaminas en las gestantes normotensas comparadas con aquellas que han desarrollado preeclampsia, por lo que se recomienda que la atención de las gestantes se acompañe de orientación nutrimental para prevenir complicaciones.

Abstract Introduction: nutrient and trace element deficiency are risk factors for the development of preeclampsia; these nutrients induce changes in the hematologic state, which can be used to prevent complications during pregnancy. Objective: this research will analyze the nutritional and hematological status during the 3 trimesters of gestation in pregnant women with preeclampsia to evaluate its association with gestational alterations. Method: a cross-sectional, descriptive, and analytic study was conducted on 78 pregnant women who attended a prenatal control clinic, 11 of whom were diagnosed with preeclampsia. The hematological parameters were determined through hematometry. To get the nutritional intake profile of the pregnant women, a frequency of food consumption questionnaire was used. Results: the normotensive group´s arterial pressure (PA) was significantly lower than that of pregnant women with preeclampsia. The hematological profile changed during pregnancy, and platelet value was much higher in preeclamptic women. The nutritional status of pregnant women in the third trimester consumed more macronutrients and micronutrients than in the first and second trimesters, and this pattern was observed in pregnant women with preeclampsia. When compared to pregnant women with preeclampsia, normotensive women received more minerals and vitamins. Conclusion: hematological values are modified during each trimester of gestation, and pregnant women with preeclampsia had high platelet values compared to normotensive women. Our data show a greater intake of minerals and vitamins in normotensive pregnant women as compared to those who developed preeclampsia; therefore, it is recommended that pregnant women be provided with nutritional guidance in order to prevent pregnant complications.

ABSTRACT In the last decade, other quality attributes have emerged as the main aspects that impact pork consumers acceptance, such as environmentally friendly production, nutritional value, and animal welfare. This study applies a Check-All-That-Apply (CATA) questionnaire for sensory characterization of loins from genetically lean immunocastrated male pigs fed diets containing either a standard commercial diet with 1.5 % soybean oil (control) or 3 % oil from either soybean oil (SO), canola oil (CO), or fish oil (FO) during the growing-finishing phases. Twenty CATA attributes for loin samples were generated. We interviewed 101 consumers to select all the CATA terms that they considered suitable to characterize sensory attributes of longissimus lumborum muscle samples of pigs from each dietary treatment. The CATA results indicated differences among pork loin samples depending on the source and inclusion level of dietary oil. Loins from pigs fed 3 % SO were characterized by a higher frequency of the “juicy texture” attribute (p < 0.05) and a lower frequency of the “dry texture” attribute (p < 0.05) compared to loins from 3 % FO-fed pigs. Moreover, loins from pigs fed 3 % SO had a lower citation frequency of the “tasteless” attribute (p < 0.05) compared to loins from 3 % FO-fed pigs. The attributes “cooked pork meat-like taste”, “juicy texture”, “tender texture”, and “brightness” were placed close to the overall liking. “Tender texture”, “juicy texture”, “pork meat-like” (odor and taste), and “cooked pork meat-like taste” attributes were considered drivers of liking. Feeding genetically lean immunocastrated male pigs with diets containing 3 % SO may be advisable from a pork sensory quality perspective.

Abstract The disease of the coffee rust (Hemileia vastatrix), during the period 2012-2013, affected the production of coffee in Mexico and the peasant families that dependent on coffee growing. The coffee activity involves a body of knowledge resulting from perceptions, observations and experiences acquired over time. The objective of this study is to identify the intrinsic and appropriate knowledge regarding rust disease with the purpose to serve as a model for the construction of spaces the dialogue of knowledge so that it can be considered as a tool for the implementation of management strategies for the fungus Hemileia vastatrix. The implemented methodology includes qualitative and quantitative techniques: the semistructured interview, applied directly in the field, the content analysis using the QRS N6 software and the Likert Scale, this to analyze the knowledge about rust and the attitude that producers have towards the coffee activity, without pretending to evaluate the knowledge. The results reveal that the knowledge that coffee growers possess is constructed mainly from observation, experimentation, family inheritance and the media, as a whole they allow the conceptualization of coffee rust disease and the identification of its characteristics, however, it is necessary to work on the integration of this knowledge in the scientific field and to revalue the role of the coffee farmer.

Resumen La roya anaranjada (Hemileia vastatrix), durante el periodo 2012-2013, afectó en gran medida la producción del café en México y en consecuencia a las familias dependientes de la caficultura. La actividad cafetalera envuelve un cúmulo de conocimientos que son el resultado de percepciones, observaciones y experiencias adquiridas a lo largo del tiempo. El objetivo del estudio es identificar aquellos conocimientos intrínsecos y apropiados sobre la enfermedad de la roya del cafeto con la finalidad de servir como referente para la construcción de espacios que fomenten el diálogo de saberes y constituyan una herramienta para el diseño colectivo de estrategias de manejo del hongo Hemileia vastatrix. Para el levantamiento de datos se utilizaron técnicas cualitativas y cuantitativas: entrevista semiestructurada, análisis de contenido mediante el software QRS N6 y la Escala Likert, esta última para analizar el conocimiento que existe sobre la roya y la actitud que mantienen los productores hacia la actividad cafetalera, sin pretender evaluar el conocimiento. Los factores identificados que inciden en la construcción del conocimiento de los caficultores son: la observación, experimentación, herencia familiar y medios de información; este estudio permitirá valorar el aporte de los caficultores en la ciencia para enfrentar los problemas asociados con el sistema cafetalero.

Abstract The successful training of nursing professionals is a necessity for contemporary society. Thus, this research aimed to establish the regularities reported by different authors about the way in which socioeconomic factors interact with academic performance in various training contexts of nursing professionals. The authors conducted an integrative review. The search was made in the databases: WOS, PubMed and VHL, resulting in 461 initial sources, getting 14 selections at the end, most of them had a quantitative approach, they were cross-sectional, descriptive, or correlational, and published between 2016 and 2021, mostly generated in African and Latin American countries. Academic performance in nursing students is influenced by socioeconomic factors, such as: ethnicity, having a job, economic problems, insufficient family support, excessive use of information and communication technologies, psychological difficulties, and unhealthy lifestyle.

Resumen La formación exitosa de profesionales de la enfermería es una necesidad para la sociedad contemporánea. Así, la investigación tuvo el objetivo de establecer las regularidades reportadas por diferentes autores acerca de la forma en que los factores socioeconómicos interactúan con el rendimiento académico en diversos contextos formativos de profesionales de la enfermería. Las autoras realizaron una revisión integrativa. La búsqueda se hizo en las bases de datos: WOS, PubMed y BVS, resultando 461 fuentes iniciales, quedando 14 seleccionas al final, de las que, la mayoría tenía enfoque cuantitativo, corte transversal, de tipo descriptivo o correlacional, publicadas entre 2016 y 2021, en su mayor parte generadas en países africanos y latinoamericanos. El rendimiento académico en estudiantes de enfermería se está influenciado por factores socioeconómicos, tales como: etnia, tener empleo, problemas económicos, insuficiente apoyo familiar, demasiado uso de las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones, dificultades psicológicas y estilo de vida poco saludable.
