ABSTRACT The bacterial canker, caused by Xanthomonas citri pv. viticola, is the most important bacterial disease of grapevines cultivated in tropical areas. The objectives of this study were to select grape hybrids resistant to bacterial canker based on genotypic values and to evaluate the response of seedless grape hybrids to artificial infection with bacterial canker. Two experiments were conducted. The field experiment (Experiment I) was conducted with 569 hybrids, evaluated for symptoms of bacterial canker, in the absence of an experimental design, using a single individual of each genotype. Experiment II was conducted in a greenhouse, where ten seedless grape hybrids were evaluated in terms of incubation period, incidence, severity, and area under the progress curve of bacterial canker disease incidence, in a completely randomized design. The use of the residual maximum likelihood/best unbiased linear prediction methodology allowed the selection of 40 grape hybrids with lower genotypic values for resistance to bacterial canker. The CPATSA 49.25 and CPATSA 49.86 hybrids showed greater resistance to bacterial canker in all epidemiological parameters evaluated under greenhouse conditions.

ABSTRACT Scorpion envenoming is considered a public health problem in Brazil. A recent study described a variation in the clinical outcome of envenoming by Tityus obscurus in two populations separated by 850 km in the northeastern Amazon region. Our aim was to evaluate whether such clinical and toxinological variations are associated with underlying differences in genetic diversity between these two T. obscurus populations. We obtained DNA from five individuals of each population, in the municipalities of Belém and Santarém, located east and west of the state of Pará, Brazil, respectively. Gene regions encoding mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) markers cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) and ribosomal 16S RNA (16S) were amplified and sequenced. Phylogenetic analyses were performed using maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian inferences (BA) for both molecular data (COI and 16S). The sampled T. obscurus populations corresponded to two distinct mtDNA lineages (genetic distance COI K2 P = 0.08 to 0.13; 16S K2 P = 0.10 to 0.11) with no shared mutations between groups and well supported by ML and BA inferences. Based on the divergence values found between eastern and western populations (COI, 0.07 to 0.12; 16S, 0.10), our study confirms the genetic heterogeneity of T. obscurus populations within the state of Pará, which correlates with observed venom and clinical differences, and reinforces the need for mapping the distribution of haplotypes throughout the geographic range of T. obscurus, to aid in future epidemiological, toxinological, and evolutionary studies.

RESUMO O envenenamento por escorpiões é considerado um problema de saúde pública no Brasil. Um estudo recente descreve a variação do quadro clínico de envenenamento por Tityus obscurus em duas populações separadas por uma distância de 850 km no nordeste da Amazônia. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar se tais variações clínicas e toxicológicas estão associadas a diferenças subjacentes na diversidade genética entre essas duas populações de T. obscurus. Obtivemos DNA de cinco indivíduos de cada população nos municípios de Belém e Santarém, localizados a leste e oeste do estado do Pará, Brasil, respectivamente. Regiões gênicas que codificam marcadores de DNA mitocondrial (mtDNA) citocromo oxidase subunidade I (COI) e RNA ribossômico 16S (16S) foram amplificadas e sequenciadas. As análises filogenéticas foram realizadas por máxima verossimilhança (ML) e inferência Bayesiana (BA) para ambos os dados moleculares (COI e 16S). As populações de T. obscurus amostradas corresponderam a duas linhagens distintas de mtDNA (distância genética COI K2 P = 0,08 a 0,13; 16S K2 P = 0,10 a 0,11) sem mutações compartilhadas entre os grupos, e bem corroboradas por inferências ML e BA. Com base nos valores de divergência encontrados entre as populações oriental e ocidental (COI, 0,07 a 0,12; 16S, 0,10), nosso estudo confirma a heterogeneidade genética das populações de T. obscurus no estado do Pará. Os resultados são congruentes com as diferenças observadas no quadro clínico dos acidentes e toxicidade do veneno, e reforçam a necessidade de mapear a distribuição de haplótipos em toda a distribuição geográfica de T. obscurus, para auxiliar em futuros estudos epidemiológicos, toxinológicos e evolutivos.

Resumo Introdução: As técnicas endoscópicas são atualmente consideradas abordagens de primeira linha no manejo das fístulas associadas a cirurgia bariátrica. O uso off-label de dispositivos de oclusão do septo cardíaco (CSDO) é uma técnica nova que tem demonstrado resultados favoráveis no encerramento de defeitos extra-vasculares, incluindo fístulas gastrointestinais. Relatos de caso prévios reportaram resultados semelhantes com o CSDO Amplatzer™ para o tratamento de fístulas gastrointestinais pós cirurgia bariátrica. No entanto, o uso de dispositivos alternativos semelhantes para esse fim ainda não foi descrito. Relato de Caso: Este relato de caso apresenta o primeiro uso reportado do CSDO Occlutech® para tratamento de fístula gastrocutânea crônica após cirurgia bariátrica revisional. Apesar do aparente sucesso inicial - nenhum extravasamento de contraste através do dispositivo na fluoroscopia após a colocação do CSDO, houve recorrência da drenagem fistulosa devido ao deslocamento parcial do dispositivo. A colocação de um segundo dispositivo entre os discos do primeiro acabou por encerrar o orifício fistuloso. Discussão: Nas fístulas gastrointestinais crônicas, o trajeto epitelizado muitas vezes não é passível de aplicação dos métodos endoscópicos tradicionais, levando a múltiplas tentativas fracassadas de encerramento. A nova aplicação de Occlutech® CSDO pode evitar o risco de uma laparotomia de alto risco nesses casos. Equipamentos endoscópicos adequados, bem como o envolvimento de equipe multidisciplinar são condições primordiais para garantir o sucesso do tratamento.

Abstract Introduction: Endoscopic techniques are now considered the first-line approach for the management of bariatric surgery-related fistulas. The off-label use of cardiac septal defect occluders (CSDO) is an emerging technique that has demonstrated favorable outcomes for the closure of extra-vascular defects, including gastrointestinal (GI) disruptions. Previous case reports have reported similar results with the CSDO Amplatzer™ for the management of GI disruptions following bariatric surgery. However, the use of similar alternative devices for this purpose has not yet been described. Case Presentation: This case report presents the first reported use of the Occlutech® CSDO for the treatment of a chronic gastrocutaneous fistula after bariatric revisional surgery. Despite apparent initial success - no extravasation of contrast material through the device in the contrast study after the CSDO placement - fistula closure failed due to partial dislodgement of the device. The placement of a second device between the discs of the former one ultimately sealed the fistulous orifice. Discussion: In chronic GI fistulas, the mature tract is often not liable to the application of standard endoscopic methods, leading to failed closure attempts. A new application of Occlutech® CSDO can obviate the clinical burden of a high-risk laparotomy in these cases. Appropriate endoscopic equipment as well as the involvement of a multidisciplinary team are prime conditions to ensure successful patient outcomes.

ABSTRACT This article analyzes the appropriation of historical facts from the game The Valiant Hearts, about the First World War (1914-1918). This game breaks with the mainstream pattern and addresses the theme of war by a monumental and laudatory bias, and has narratives of the survival of civilians in wartime. The appreciation of narratives critical to wars and a focus on civil life make up the tonic in research projects in the area of digital humanities, as a conceptual basis for projects in the field of heritage and museums.

RESUMEN Cet article analyse l’appropriation des faits historiques dans le jeu Soldats inconnus: Mémoires de la Grande Guerre, sur la Première Guerre mondiale (1914-1918). Ce jeu s’éloigne du courant dominant en abordant la guerre sous un angle monumental et élogieux, avec des récits de survie des civils en temps de guerre. La valorisation des récits critiques et l’accent mis sur l’expérience des civils constituent la clés des projets de recherche en humanités numériques, en tant que base conceptuelle des projets dans le domaine du patrimoine et des musées.

RESUMO O presente artigo analisa a apropriação de fatos históricos do game The Valiant Hearts, sobre a Primeira Guerra Mundial (1914-1918). Esse game rompe com o padrão mainstream e aborda o tema da guerra pelo viés monumental e laudatório, e conta com narrativas da sobrevivência de civis em tempo de guerra. A valorização de narrativas críticas às guerras e foco na vivência civil compõem a tônica em projetos de pesquisa na área das humanidades digitais, como base conceitual em projetos no campo do patrimônio e museus.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the postoperative functional and radiographic outcomes of the shoulder of patients submitted to transosseous suturing of a greater tuberosity fracture (GTF) through an anterolateral route and the influence of the glenohumeral dislocation on these outcomes. Methods We conducted a retrospective study and functional assessment using the Constant-Murley score. The distance between the greater tuberosity and the joint surface of the proximal humerus (in true anteroposterior radiographs) after the union was calculated. We used the Fisher exact test for the categorical independent variables, and the Student t or Mann-Whitney test for the non-categorical variables. Results In total, 26 patients met the inclusion criteria, and 38% of the sample presented an association between glenohumeral dislocation and GTF. The mean Constant-Murley score was of 82.5 + 8.02 points. The presence of an associated dislocation did not alter the functional outcome. The mean distance between the greater tuberosity of the humerus and the joint surface of the humeral head after the union was of 9 + 4.3 mm below the articular line of the humeral head. The dislocation led to a lower level of reduction, but this did not influence the Constant-Murley score. Conclusion The cases of GTF submitted to surgical treatment with transosseous sutures had good functional outcomes. The presence of dislocation made the anatomical reduction of the greater tuberosity difficult. However, it did not influence the Constant-Murley score.

Resumo Objetivo Avaliar os resultados funcional e radiográfico pós-operatórios do ombro, em pacientes submetidos a sutura transóssea de fratura da tuberosidade maior (FTM) por acesso anterolateral, e a influência da luxação glenoumeral nesses resultados. Métodos Realizou-se estudo retrospectivo e avaliação funcional (pela escala de Constant-Murley). Calculou-se a distância entre a tuberosidade maior e a superfície articular do úmero proximal (por meio de radiografia em incidência anteroposterior verdadeira) após a consolidação. Usou-se o teste Exato de Fisher para as variáveis independentes categóricas, e os testes tde Student ou de Mann-Whitney para as não categóricas. Resultados Ao todo, 26 pacientes preencheram os critérios de inclusão. A associação de luxação glenoumeral com FTM foi observada em 38% da amostra. A média da pontuação na escala de Constant-Murley foi de 82,5 + 8,02. A presença de luxação associada não alterou o resultado funcional. A distância média da consolidação da tuberosidade maior do úmero em relação à superfície articular da cabeça umeral foi de 9 + 4,3 mm abaixo da linha articular da cabeça umeral. Pacientes com luxação associada evoluíram com redução menor, mas isso não influenciou na pontuação na escala de Constant-Murley. Conclusão As FTMs submetidas ao tratamento cirúrgico com sutura transóssea evoluíram com bom resultado funcional. A presença de luxação dificultou a redução anatômica da tuberosidade maior. Entretanto, isso não influenciou na pontuação na escala de Constant-Murley.

The paper consists of a qualitative research that aims to analyze cinematographic works that explore Mathematics in their plots. To do so, we sought to understand the origin and development of media as information technology tools, in order to trace back the establishment of cinema as a storytelling mechanism – also recognizing its functionalities. After refined searches on the internet, we found 23 movies that feature scientists’ concepts and/or stories in the realm of Mathematics, released in a 25-year interval (between 1997 and 2021). These movies were viewed, classified and analyzed according to three categories: Mathematics as background; Mathematics as a narrative tool; and mathematicians. The analysis brings a variety of mathematical approaches and references, and, as a result, we concluded that watching fictional stories, as well as those based on real events, can help us to better understand who the mathematical revolutionaries portrayed were and/or how Mathematics can interconnect with the cinematoghapic art, building engaging narratives while also demonstrating the versatility of this area of knowledge.

Este trabajo consiste en una investigación cualitativa, cuyo objetivo es el análisis de obras cinematográficas que exploran las Matemáticas en sus tramas. Para ello, buscamos comprender el origen y desarrollo de los medios de comunicación como herramientas tecnológicas de información, con el fin de remontarse al establecimiento del cine como mecanismo de narración, reconociendo también sus funcionalidades. Después de búsquedas refinadas en la internet, encontramos 23 películas que presentan conceptos y/o historias de científicos en el campo de las Matemáticas, lanzados en un intervalo de 25 años (entre 1997 y 2021). Estas películas fueron vistas, clasificadas y analizadas según tres categorías: las Matemáticas como telón de fondo; las Matemáticas como herramienta narrativa; y los matemáticos. El análisis trae una variedad de enfoques y referencias matemáticas y, como resultado, concluimos que ver historias de ficción, así como aquellas basadas en hechos reales, puede ayudarnos a entender mejor quiénes fueron los revolucionarios matemáticos retratados y/o cómo las matemáticas pueden interconectarse con el arte cinematográfico, construyendo narrativas atractivas al mismo tiempo que demuestran la versatilidad que tiene esta área del conocimiento.

O trabalho consiste de uma pesquisa com abordagem qualitativa, cujo objetivo é analisar obras cinematográficas que exploram a Matemática em seus enredos. Para isso, buscamos compreender a origem e o desenvolvimento das mídias enquanto ferramentas tecnológicas da informação, com o intuito de remontar ao estabelecimento do cinema como um mecanismo de contação de histórias – reconhecendo também suas funcionalidades. Após buscas refinadas na internet, encontramos 23 filmes que apresentam conceitos e/ou histórias de cientistas no âmbito da Matemática, lançados em um intervalo de 25 anos (entre 1997 e 2021). Esses filmes foram vistos, classificados e analisados de acordo com três categorias: Matemática como pano de fundo; Matemática como ferramenta narrativa; e matemáticos(as). A análise traz uma variedade de abordagens e referências matemáticas e, como resultado, concluímos que observar histórias fictícias, bem como as baseadas em acontecimentos reais, pode nos ajudar a compreender melhor quem foram os revolucionários matemáticos retratados e/ou como a Matemática pode se interligar com a arte cinematográfica, construindo envolventes narrativas ao, também, demonstrar a versatilidade que esta área do conhecimento possui.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to examine the concurrent contributions of body size, estimates of whole-body composition, and appendicular volume in addition to participation in competitive basketball to explain inter-individual variance in anaerobic peak power output during late adolescence. The study also tested non-participation versus participation in basketball as an independent predictor of peak power output. METHODS: The sample of this cross-sectional study was composed of 63 male participants (basketball: n=32, 17.0±0.9 years; school: n=31, 17.4±1.0 years). Anthropometry included stature, body mass, circumferences, lengths, and skinfolds. Fat-free mass was estimated from skinfolds and lower limbs volume predicted from circumferences and lengths. Participants completed the force-velocity test using a cycle ergometer to determine peak power output. RESULTS: For the total sample, optimal peak power was correlated to body size (body mass: r=0.634; fat-free mass: r=0.719, lower limbs volume: r=0.577). The best model was given by fat-free mass and explained 51% of the inter-individual variance in force-velocity test. The preceding was independent of participating in sports (i.e., the dummy variable basketball vs. school did not add significant explained variance). CONCLUSION: Adolescent basketball players were taller and heavier than school boys. The groups also differed in fat-free mass (school: 53.8±4.8 kg; basketball: 60.4±6.7 kg), which was the most prominent predictor of inter-individual variance in peak power output. Briefly, compared to school boys, participation in basketball was not associated with optimal differential braking force. Higher values in peak power output for basketball players were explained by a larger amount of fat-free mass.

ABSTRACT: Enhanced efficiency potassium fertilizers can be a management tool that is crucial to crop sustainability in maize (Zea mays L.). However, there is a need for studies aimed at validating the use of these fertilizers in different production environments. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of maize under sources and rates of K through conventional and enhanced efficiency fertilizers in soil with high available K content. The experiment was carried out for two years in an Oxisol (605 g kg–1 of clay) with high K content (6.7 mmolc dm–3). Three sources were used, one conventional (KCl), one obtained by additives sprayed on the fertilizer surface (KCl-C), and one obtained by compacting KCl powder and adding additives (KCl-CC), associated with three K2O rates as top-dressing (50, 100, 150 kg ha–1) and a control without K2O. In all treatments, 48 kg ha–1 of K2O was applied in the sowing furrow. In the first year, maize yield increased linearly for both the KCl and KCl-C sources. The maximum yield (7,967 kg ha–1) for the KCl-CC was obtained at 88 kg ha–1. In the second year, the maximum yields for the KCl (7,553 kg ha–1) and KCl-C (8,166 kg ha–1) were obtained with 20 and 67 kg ha–1 K2O, respectively, while for the KCl-CC maize yield did not change. Enhanced efficiency K sources promote increases in maize yield ranging from 4.3 % to 7.1 %. Top-dressing K fertilization in high-fertility soils is a viable alternative for producers focused on increasing maize yield, mainly when enhanced efficiency sources are used.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: The prevalence of primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) in the general population has not yet been clearly established. The management of PSC should focus on delaying the progression of the disease and restraining its complications. The only curative therapy for the disease remains liver transplantation (LT). PSC is currently the fifth most common indication for LT and corresponds to 5% of all LT indications in adults. AIMS: Our objective is to evaluate the indications and outcomes of PSC patients undergoing LT in three liver transplantation centers in southern Brazil – Hospital Santa Isabel in Blumenau, Santa Catarina state, and Hospital das Clínicas and Hospital Nossa Senhora das Graças, in Curitiba, Parana state). METHODS: This is a longitudinal observational study of patients with PSC who underwent LT in three major Brazilian medical centers. Electronic medical records and study protocols of all patients subjected to LT from January 2011 to December 2021 were retrospectively reviewed. RESULTS: Of the 1,362 transplants performed in the three medical centers, 37 were due to PSC. Recurrence of PSC occurred in three patients (8.1%) in 3.0±2.4 years (range, 1–4 years). The 1-year and 5-year survival rates after the first LT were 83.8 and 80.6%, respectively. The 1-year and 5-year graft survival rates were, respectively, 83.8 and 74.8%. CONCLUSIONS: Our experience with LT in patients with PSC demonstrated good patient and graft survival results. Most deaths were due to common factors in patients undergoing LT.

RESUMO RACIONAL: A prevalência de colangite esclerosante primária (CEP) na população em geral ainda não foi claramente estabelecida. O manejo da CEP deve se concentrar em retardar a progressão da doença e gerenciar suas complicações. A única terapia curativa para a doença continua sendo o transplante hepático (TH). A CEP é atualmente a 5ª indicação mais comum de TH e corresponde a 5% de todas as indicações de TH em adultos OBJETIVOS: O nosso objetivo é avaliar as indicações e os resultados do transplante de fígado em pacientes com CEP submetidos a TH em três centros de transplante de fígado no sul do Brasil (Hospital Santa Isabel, Blumenau, Santa Catarina; Hospital das Clínicas, Curitiba, Paraná; e Hospital Nossa Senhora das Graças, Curitiba, Paraná). MÉTODOS: Este é um estudo observacional longitudinal de pacientes com colangite esclerosante primária que foram submetidos a transplante hepático em três grandes centros médicos brasileiros. Os prontuários eletrônicos de todos os pacientes submetidos a TH de Janeiro de 2011 a Dezembro de 2021, foram avaliados retrospectivamente. RESULTADOS: De um total de 1.362 transplantes realizados nos três centros médicos, 37 eram devidos à CEP. A recorrência de CEP ocorreu em 3 pacientes (8,1%) em 3±2,4 anos (intervalo, 1–4 anos). A taxa de sobrevida de 1 ano e 5 anos após o 1° TH foi respectivamente de 83,8 e 80,6%. As taxas de sobrevida dos enxertos em 1 ano e 5 anos foram, respectivamente, 83,8 e 74,8%. CONCLUSÕES: A nossa experiência com TH em pacientes com CEP demonstrou bons resultados de sobrevida dos pacientes e dos enxertos. A maioria dos óbitos ocorreu devido a fatores comuns em pacientes submetidos a TH.

Xerostomia is defined as the perception of dry mouth, and dysgeusia, as a change in taste. Both are common complaints in the elderly, especially among those making use of polypharmacy drug combinations. Aim This study aimed to determine the prevalence of xerostomia and dysgeusia and to investigate their association with polypharmacy in the elderly. Methods older people under follow-up at the Multidisciplinary Elderly Center of the University Hospital of Brasília were interviewed and asked about health problems, medications used, presence of xerostomia and dysgeusia. Descriptive statistics were used to determine the prevalence of the symptoms surveyed. The chi-square test was used to investigate the relationship between xerostomia and dysgeusia and polypharmacy. Secondary associations were performed using binomial logistic regression. Results Ninety-six older people were evaluated and of these, 62.5% had xerostomia and 21.1%, had dysgeusia. The average number of medications used was 4±3 medications per individual. Polypharmacy was associated with xerostomia but not dysgeusia. It was possible to associate xerostomia with the use of antihypertensive drugs. Conclusion Xerostomia was a frequent complaint among elderly people making use of polypharmacy, especially those using antihypertensives. Antihypertensives and antidepressants were used most drugs by the elderly and exhibited interactions with drugs most prescribed in Dentistry. Two contraindications were found between fluconazole and mirtazapine; and between erythromycin and simvastatin.

Abstract Paper aims The first aim is methodological, by developing a conceptual model to describe the internal relationship environment (IRE), the critical factors that impact this environment, the characterization of the parties involved, and their relationships. The second is practical and instrumentalizes the model to measure the effect of differences perceived by internal customers. Originality Distinct works focus on the formulation of management systems, successful implementation, or external and market environmental factors, although there is a lack of studies that relate organizational performance to differences in perceived quality between the parties. Research method The methodology followed a flow of collection/analysis, of the informational data of the company, sketch of the model and flow of information, exploratory focus group, thematic analysis of content, and confirmatory focus group. Then, the procedure of operationalization of the model. Main findings The conceptual model and its instrumentalization describe the apparent relationships between the support team and the operations teams, the underlying relationships of the ERI with the company's management model, and organizational performance. Implications for theory and practice In practice, the proposed measurement instrument allows evaluation of the effects of differences in the perceived quality of internal customers.

ABSTRACT Emergency Remote Education (ERE) has been the only viable teaching option due to the covid-19 pandemic. Thus, the goal of this study was to characterize teaching practices and the perceptions of professors related to the teaching at the Federal University of Roraima (FURR/UFRR). An online questionnaire was answered by 150 professors of UFRR, that indicate that professors evaluate ERE with above average satisfaction. In addition, they point out that ICT are important as educational tools for the educational process, but they need better conditions. It is concluded, therefore, that the implementation of the ERE at UFRR obtained results that allowed minimizing the negative impacts from the restrictive measures of covid-19 on student learning.

RESUMO O Ensino Remoto Emergencial (ERE) é apresentado como única opção de ensino enquanto durar a pandemia de covid-19. O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar práticas de ensino e percepções de professores sobre o ensino realizado na Universidade Federal de Roraima (UFRR). Um questionário online foi respondido por 150 professores da UFRR, cujas respostas apontam que os professores avaliam o ERE com satisfação acima da média. Além disso, apontam que as Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TICs) são ferramentas educacionais importantes para o processo educacional, mas necessitam de melhores condições. Por fim, conclui-se que a implementação do ERE na UFRR obteve resultados que minimizaram os impactos negativos derivados das medidas restritivas da covid-19 no aprendizado dos alunos.

ABSTRACT Objective: Analyze construct proposals within the Smart Campus literature and propose a data visualization model for social impact for university extension projects Method: It uses a qualitative, exploratory approach and design science research to develop the model (artifact). To ensure the reproducibility of the artifact, the retrieval of the works used as a reference to propose the model was carried out based on a systematic literature review, while for the correction and validation of the model, interviews with experts are carried out using a semi-structured script. Result: The research obtained the following results: (i) identification of constructs developed in Smart environments related to higher education institutions as outlines of improvements in internal processes; and (ii) the development of two visualization models, a general one applicable to other environments on a university campus and a specific one for extension projects. Conclusions: The visualization model for extension projects has representational potential, demonstrating aspects, components and the operational structures and human resources necessary for its application in academic practice, implying in the improvement of extension management practices.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar a proposição de constructos dentro da literatura de Smart Campus e propor um modelo de visualização de dados para o impacto social para projetos de extensão universitária. Método: utiliza a abordagem qualitativa, exploratória e design science research para o desenvolvimento do modelo (artefato). Para garantir a reprodutibilidade do artefato, a recuperação dos trabalhos utilizados como referência para propor o modelo foi realizado com base em uma revisão sistemática da literatura, já para a correção e validação do modelo é realizada entrevistas com especialistas com aplicação de roteiro semiestruturado. Resultado: a pesquisa obteve os seguintes resultados: (i) identificação dos construtos desenvolvidos em ambientes Smart relacionados a instituições de ensino superior como delineadores de melhorias nos processos internos; e (ii) o desenvolvimento de dois modelos de visualização, um geral, aplicável a outros ambientes de um campus universitário e um específico para os projetos extensionistas. Conclusões: o modelo de visualização para os projetos de extensão apresenta potencial representacional, demonstrando aspectos, componentes e as estruturas operacionais e recursos humanos necessários para sua aplicação na prática acadêmica, implicando na melhoria das práticas de gestão da extensão.

Abstract Physical activity comprises four domains (leisure, transportation, domestic, and work activities) that may be differently associated with oral health. The aim of this study was to assess the association between each physical activity domain and oral health conditions in Brazilian adults. A total of 38,539 participants in the 2019 Brazilian Health Survey aged 30 years or older were analyzed. The outcomes were self-perceived oral health (dichotomous) and self-reported number of missing teeth (counts). The presence, frequency, and time of activity in each domain and their combination were analyzed as main exposures. Odds ratios (OR) and mean ratios (MR) were estimated by fitting multivariable models. Higher leisure time physical activity was the only domain associated with better self-perception of oral health (OR = 1.32; 95%CI 1.26–1.38) and lower tooth loss (MR=0.88; 95%CI 0.86–0.90). Higher levels of work, transportation, and household activities were significantly associated with worse self-perception of oral health, while higher levels of work– and transportation–related physical activities were also associated with greater tooth loss. When the total recommended weekly physical activity time was analyzed, no significant associations were found. Sensitivity analysis suggested that this pattern persists in potential periodontitis–related cases, such as when selecting older age or excluding individuals with no tooth loss. In conclusion, leisure physical activity was the only domain with the potential of reflecting the benefits of physical activity on oral health. The inclusion of other domains can confound this association.

Abstract: Introduction: In western contemporary society, attempts to prevent death and suffering promote a medical training focused on dealing mostly with the biological aspects of illness and death, to the detriment of the psychosocial aspects related to those issues. Objective: The authors intended to identify medical students’ perceptions about the approach to death and dying in the light of Freudian theory about death. Method: This was a qualitative study with an exploratory approach, developed based on six focal groups consisting of 55 students from all the undergraduate medical school semesters from a federal university in the interior of the state Minas Gerais. The data produced was analyzed according to the thematic or category-based content analysis, from which the following categories emerged: 1- The death topic in undergraduate medical school; 2- The medical professional facing death. Results: To discuss death and dying in the formative process is to talk about the anguish in the face of human finitude. The students identified the approach to death and dying in undergraduate school, but in a limited and insufficient way. They indicated the need to increase contact with the topic in the curriculum, and to include, in a mandatory way, the contents on Palliative Care. The medical role encompasses both the care focused on healing and the assistance in moments when healing is not possible. The preparation to deal with death throughout undergraduate training involves personal conceptions and experiences, undergraduate practice, access to theoretical contents, specificities and subjective aspects related to each situation. The mentioned resources to deal with death, in addition to the studies, were religiosity and psychotherapy. Conclusion: To approach death in undergraduate medical curricula involves great complexity and challenges. From the viewpoint of psychological reality, human beings try to deny death and avoid suffering. Thus, the challenges in medical formation and practices consist in assuming the indissociable articulation between the biological, cultural and psychosocial aspects. To take care of life is also to take care of death and avoiding it may cause greater suffering to the patients, family members, students and medical professionals.

Resumo Introdução: Na sociedade ocidental contemporânea, as tentativas de evitar a morte e o sofrimento impulsionam a formação de médicos voltados para lidar majoritariamente com aspectos biológicos do adoecimento e da morte, em detrimento dos aspectos psicossociais relacionados a essas questões. Objetivo: Buscou-se identificar a percepção de estudantes de Medicina sobre a abordagem da morte e do morrer na graduação à luz de estudos atuais sobre a formação médica no país e algumas contribuições da teoria freudiana sobre a morte. Método: Trata-se de pesquisa qualitativa de caráter exploratório, desenvolvida a partir de seis grupos focais compostos por 55 estudantes de todos os períodos do curso de Medicina de uma universidade federal do interior de Minas Gerais. O material produzido foi analisado a partir do referencial de análise de conteúdo temática ou categorial, e emergiram categorias: 1. a morte na formação médica; 2. o médico diante da morte. Resultado: Discutir a morte e o morrer no processo formativo é falar da angústia diante da finitude. Os estudantes identificaram a abordagem da morte e do morrer na graduação, mas de forma limitada e insuficiente. Apontaram a necessidade de ampliar o contato com os temas no currículo, melhorar as metodologias utilizadas e inserir de forma obrigatória os conteúdos de cuidados paliativos. O papel do médico comporta tanto o cuidado com foco na cura quanto a assistência nas situações em que a cura não for possível. A preparação para lidar com a morte ao longo da graduação envolve concepções e experiências pessoais, experiências na graduação, acesso aos conteúdos teóricos, especificidades e aspectos subjetivos relacionados a cada situação. Os recursos mencionados para lidar com a morte, além dos estudos, foram a religiosidade e psicoterapias. Conclusão: Abordar a morte nos currículos de graduação em Medicina envolve grande complexidade e desafios. Do ponto de vista da realidade psíquica, os seres humanos tentam negar a morte e evitar os sofrimentos. Dessa forma, os desafios da formação e da prática médica consistem em assumir a articulação indissociável entre aspectos biológicos, culturais e psicossociais. Cuidar da vida é também cuidar da morte, e evitá-la pode desencadear maior sofrimento aos pacientes, familiares, estudantes e médicos.
