Abstract The aim of the present study was to evaluate semen cryopreservation with ACP-Lact® diluent, which consists of coconut water powder (ACP) added to goat milk powder. After thawing, the samples were evaluated for sperm kinetics, membrane evaluation and in vivo insemination. For cryopreservation, a pool was made with the ejaculate of six goats, diluted in four equal aliquots for the respective treatments: T1 (ACP-Lact®); T2 (ACP-Lact® 50%); T3 (ACP + 2.5% egg yolk) and T4 (Tris + 2.5% egg yolk). After dilution of the treatments, the samples were placed in 0.5 ml straws and chilled at a rate of -1.07°C/min. After reaching 4°C and stabilizing for one hour, the straws were placed in nitrogen vapour at -60°C for 15 minutes and then immersed in liquid nitrogen (-196ºC). The straws were thawed in a 37°C water bath and kinetic assessments were performed immediately using a computerized semen analysis program (CSA), viability (EN), membrane functionality (HOST), mitochondrial activity (DAB) and DNA integrity assessment of spermatozoa. For the in vivo experiment, ten goats were inseminated, divided into two groups of five goats each, G1 inseminated with ACP-Lact® and G2 with ACP, by fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI). Regarding the kinetic parameters, the ACP-Lact® treatment showed higher progressive motility (PM) and sperm velocity than the other treatments (36.77%). In the VSL parameter the ACP-Lact diluent was superior to ACP and Tris. In viability the treatment with ACP-Lact® was superior to the treatment with Tris, 95% and 83% respectively. In FTAI two goats were born out of the 5 goats inseminated with ACP-Lact®. It was concluded that the use of ACP-Lact® for cryopreservation of caprine semen is efficient in maintaining seminal parameters during thawing in vitro and in vivo and proved to be a good alternative extender for the caprine species.

ABSTRACT Clinical similarities among viral diseases become even more relevant considering the current scenario, especially in Brazil, where there is a high incidence of these diseases and overlapping seasonality. We report the case of a patient with acute clinical manifestations composed of predominant respiratory symptoms and alveolar hemorrhage in which three etiologies (dengue, influenza and COVID-19) were investigated concomitantly. Only the diagnosis of dengue was confirmed. Then, the patient’s immunological profile in response to stimulation of mononuclear cells with dengue virus antigen was analyzed in an attempt to identify specific characteristics that could be associated with the clinical manifestation.

Resumo O presente trabalho tem por objetivo analisar de que modo os materiais didáticos de duas oficinas, disponibilizados tecnologicamente no Portal Educacional PROENEM (Unilab), contribuíram para a construção da argumentação nos textos de estudantes pré-universitários, integrantes das ações do Projeto de Extensão Palestras Interdisciplinares e Oficinas de Produção Textual para o Enem (PROENEM). Teoricamente, nosso trabalho está alicerçado nos estudos de Perelman e Tyteca (1996) e Fiorin (2018) sobre as técnicas argumentativas e em Bottentuit Junior (2013) sobre as características pedagógicas de um portal educacional. Foram analisadas dez redações estilo ENEM de estudantes que, ao participarem do Curso de Redação Gratuito PROENEM (Unilab), acessaram o Portal para realizar suas produções textuais.

Abstract This paper aims to analyze how the teaching materials of two workshops, technologically available on the PROENEM Educational Portal (Unilab), contributed to the construction of argumentation in the texts of preuniversity students, members of the actions of the Extension Project Interdisciplinary Lectures and Textual Production Workshops for Enem (PROENEM). Theoretically, our work will be based on the studies of Perelman and Tyteca (1996) and Fiorin (2018) about argumentative techniques and Bottentuit Junior (2013) on the pedagogical characteristics of an educational portal. Ten ENEM style essays from students who, participating in the PROENEM Free Writing Course (Unilab), accessed the Portal to make their textual productions.

Resumo Muitos bancos de dados de coleções biológicas apresentam problemas de qualidade de dados. De acordo com os recursos computacionais existentes, apresentamos uma ferramenta de importação e validação de dados. O programa aplica filtros aos dados enviados através de uma planilha no momento da importação dos dados, agilizando o processo de verificação de erros. As validações apresentadas foram divididas em três categorias de acordo com os dados taxonômicos, geográficos e gerais das coletas de espécimes. Sua implementação eliminou os erros na entrada de dados de novos vouchers no Herbário do Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro.

Abstract Many biological collections databases feature data quality problems. On the existing computational resources, we present an import tool and data validation. The program applies filters to data submitted through a spreadsheet at the time of data import, streamlining the error-checking process. The validations presented were divided into three categories according to the taxonomic, geographical and general specimen collection data. Its implementation eliminated the errors in the data entry of new vouchers in the Herbarium of the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro.

Resumo Sistemas de informação são fundamentais para o gerenciamento dos acervos biológicos das instituições de pesquisas em biodiversidade, uma vez que elas vêm fazendo investimentos significativos nos processos de informatização e digitalização de suas coleções. Os sistemas de bancos de dados de herbários e de jardins botânicos têm evoluído no sentido de disponibilizar online os dados de exsicatas e das coleções correlatas, além de suas imagens. Neste trabalho é apresentada a nova versão do Jabot, o sistema de gerenciamento de coleções botânicas desenvolvido no Jardim Botânico do Rio de Janeiro. O sistema reflete hoje o conhecimento adquirido por uma equipe multidisciplinar composta de botânicos e profissionais da área de computação, em uma década de uso intensivo no gerenciamento do conteúdo digital e na curadoria do herbário.

Abstract Information systems are critical to the management of biological collections of research institutions in biodiversity, since they have been making significant investments in the computerization process and digitization of their collections. Systems of herbarium and botanical gardens databases have evolved to provide online data from herbarium specimens and related collections, in addition to your images. In this paper is presented the new version of Jabot, the botanical collections management system developed at the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro. The system now reflects the knowledge acquired by a multidisciplinary team of botanists and computer professionals, in a decade of intensive use in the management of digital content and curator of the herbarium.

RESUMO Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar a eficiência de recuperação de nitrogênio (N), fósforo (P) e potássio (K) pela cultura da cenoura. Foram implantados dois experimentos em área de cultivo localizada em Rio Paranaíba - MG. A cultivar "Juliana" foi semeada no período de verão e a cultivar "Nayarit" no período do inverno. Os tratamentos consistiram de seis combinações de fertilizações N-P2O5-K2O (kg ha-1): sem N (0-500-450), sem P (100-0-450), sem K (100-500-0), padrão (100-500-450), maior que o padrão (100-700-600) e menor que a padrão (100-300-300). A colheita foi realizada quando a maior parte das raízes apresentavam-se dentro do padrão comercial mais aceito pelos consumidores. Quantificaram-se as matérias fresca e seca das raízes e das folhas e com base na matéria fresca de raízes calculou-se a produtividade. Determinaram-se os teores de N, P e K em folhas e raízes por ocasião da colheita e com bases nesses teores e na matéria seca de raízes e de folhas determinaram-se a absorção e a exportação de nutrientes. As fertilizações testadas influenciaram a produtividade comercial de ambas as cultivares. A omissão da fertilização com N, com P ou com K reduziu a produtividade da cultivar "Juliana". Para a cultivar "Nayarit" apenas a omissão de P reduziu a produtividade. Para essa cultivar o incremento de P e K aumentou a produtividade. A cultivar "Nayarit", mais produtiva que "Juliana", absorveu maiores quantidades de N, P e K. As eficiências de recuperação desses nutrientes por ambas cultivares de cenoura foram baixas.

ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to evaluate the carrot crop recovery efficiency of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium from fertilizers. Two experiments were conducted in an experimental area in Rio Paranaiba - MG. The cultivar ("Juliana‟) was sown during the summer period and the cultivar "Nayarit‟ during the winter period. In both experiments, the treatments consisted of six fertilization combinations of N, P2O, K2O (kg ha-1): fertilization without N (0-500-450), without P (100-0-450), without K (100-500-0), standard (100-500-450), higher than standard (100-700-600) and lower than standard (100-300-300). The harvest was carried out when most of the roots presented commercial standard well accepted by the consumers. The fresh and dry matter of roots and leaves were quantified, and the yield was calculated based on the fresh matter. The analysis of N, P and K contents in leaves and roots were carried out by harvest time, and the nutrients absorption and exportation were determined based on these contents and on the dry matter of roots and leaves. N, P and K omissions reduced the yield of the cultivar "Juliana‟. For the cultivar "Nayarit‟, only P omission reduced and P and K fertilizations increased the yield. The cultivar "Nayarity‟, which is more productive than "Juliana", absorbed more quantities of N, P and K. Carrot recovery efficiency of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium is low.

ABSTRACT Leaf analysis may identify nutrient deficiency or excess in plant tissue. The aim of this study was to determine reference values and generate nutritional diagnosis from the results of leaf analysis of the carrot crop (Daucus carota L.) by the methods of Critical Level, Sufficiency Range, Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System, and Compositional Nutrient Diagnosis. Contents of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn were determined in 210 carrot fields in the 2012 and 2013 crop seasons in the Alto Paranaíba region, MG, Brazil. The whole plant shoot was sampled at harvest time to generate reference values for diagnosis. The high yielding subpopulation showed yield higher than 87.8 Mg ha-1. The four diagnostic methods generated similar reference values of nutrients, but different from those found in the literature. Leaf diagnosis through nutrient content in the shoot at harvest time indicated Mn as the most limiting nutrient for growing carrot, followed by Mg, K, and Ca.
