Resumen: En este artículo se propone la metodología para realizar la partición eléctrica de una red de distribución utilizando algoritmos de agrupamiento de datos como K-means y DBSCAN. Los datos se obtienen generando variaciones en los parámetros de la red y simulando el perfil de voltaje con el software OpenDSS. La metodología propuesta se implementa en redes de distribución estándar de prueba IEEE de 34 y 123 nodos. Los resultados muestran que los nodos se agrupan, logrando una adecuada partición de la red eléctrica de distribución.

Abstract: This paper proposes the methodology to perform the partitioning of a distribution network using data clustering algorithms such as K-means and DBSCAN. The data is obtained by generating variations in the network parameters and simulating the voltage profile using OpenDSS software. The proposed methodology is implemented on standard IEEE test distribution networks of 34 and 123 node test feeder. The results show that the nodes are grouped, achieving an adequate partition of the electrical distribution network.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate changes in the biochemical parameters of feedlot lambs fed with high concentrations of crude glycerin (GC). Forty crossbred lambs (Dorper × Santa Inês), non-castrated, weighing 21.7±2.7kg and 90 days old, were randomly assigned to four treatments (0, 10, 20, and 30% GC in the diet). To evaluate the biochemical parameters, blood samples (pre-prandial and 4 h after morning feeding) were collected on the first day and the day before slaughter, in each treatment. The high-density lipoprotein was linearly decreased (P<0.0001) when GC concentrations were increased in the diet. Alkaline phosphatase was quadratically affected by treatments (P=0.05), with greater values observed in blood from animals fed intermediate concentrations of CG, and gamma-glutamyl transferase was linearly increased (P=0.008). The blood urea was quadratically affected by treatments with lower values observed in blood from animals fed intermediate concentrations of CG. In conclusion, the replacement of up to 30% (based on dry matter) of corn grain by crude glycerin, in diets for feedlot finishing lambs, does not compromise the health status of these animals.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar as alterações nos parâmetros bioquímicos de cordeiros confinados, alimentados com elevadas concentrações de glicerina bruta (GC). Quarenta cordeiros mestiços (Dorper × Santa Inês), não castrados, com 21,7±2,7kg de peso e 90 dias de idade, foram distribuídos aleatoriamente em quatro tratamentos (0, 10, 20 e 30% de GC na dieta). Para avaliar os parâmetros bioquímicos, amostras de sangue (pré-prandial e 4h após a alimentação matinal) foram coletadas no primeiro dia e no dia anterior ao abate, em cada tratamento. A lipoproteína de alta densidade no sangue diminuiu linearmente (P<0,0001) quando as concentrações de GC foram aumentadas. A fosfatase alcalina foi afetada quadraticamente pelos tratamentos (P=0,05), com valores maiores observados no sangue de animais alimentados com concentrações intermediárias de GC, e a gamaglutamiltransferase aumentou linearmente (P=0,008). A ureia sanguínea foi afetada de forma quadrática pelos tratamentos, com valores menores observados no sangue de animais alimentados com concentrações intermediárias de GC. Em conclusão, a substituição de até 30% (com base na matéria seca) do grão de milho por glicerina bruta, em dietas para cordeiros em terminação em confinamento, não compromete o estado de saúde desses animais.

Abstract Controlling the recrystallization is an important way to reach grain size refinement and outstanding strength and toughness on alloy metals. This study sets out the application and investigation of mathematical microstructure modeling of a newly designed bainitic steel for hot forging industrial applications. The macro-scale model was used to observe and predict the austenitic grain size behavior during the controlled forging of a gear. Arrhenius grain growth kinetic and recrystallization model for a new class of bainitic steel was established for the given strain rate ranges and temperatures. This model was calibrated through microscopic analysis and used to simulate the unpublished constants of low alloyed bainitic forging steel DIN 18MnCrSiMo6-4 microstructure module using DEFORM® commercial finite element code. The increased temperature due to the adiabatic effect was investigated by numerical analysis, demonstrating its influence on grain coarsening. Local tensile test and Charpy-V notch were compared at different industrial hot forging temperatures and local plastic strain. Changes in yield strength and ductility have demonstrated the grain size influence on the processing parameters. The employed numerical model was an efficient tool to predict and present an alternative path to develop robust industrial forging using semi-empirical models.

About 3000 tons of beans are not used in human food due to hardening. Several studies on bean-derived bioactive peptides have shown potential to treat some diseases, including those relying on oxidative dysfunctions. We assessed the effects of peptides extracted from hardened bean Phaseolus vulgaris (PV) on reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO) production, cytotoxic and cytoprotective effects in endothelial cells, and oxidonitrergic-dependent vasodilating effects. Extract was composed by peptide fraction <3 kDa (PV3) from hardened common bean residue. PV3 sequences were obtained and analyzed with bioinformatics. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were treated with 10, 20, 30, and 250 µg/mL PV3. Oxidative stress was provoked by 3% H2O2. Cytotoxicity and cytoprotective effects were evaluated by MTT assay, whereas, ROS and NO were quantified using DHE and DAF-FM fluorescent probes by confocal microscopy. NO- and endothelium-dependent vasodilating effects of PV3 were assessed in isolated aortic rings. We found 35 peptides with an average mass of 1.14 kDa. There were no cell deaths with 10 and 20 μg/mL PV3. PV3 at 30 μg/mL increased cell viability, while cytotoxicity was observed only with 250 μg/mL PV3. PV3 at 10 μg/mL was able to protect cells from oxidative stress. PV3 also increased NO release without causing cell death. It also reduced relative ROS production induced by H2O2. PV3 vasodilating effects relied on endothelium-dependent NO release. PV3 obtained from low-commercial-value bean displays little cytotoxicity and exerts antioxidant effects, whereas it increases endothelial NO release.

RESUMO O uso de anestésicos em pisciculturas é indispensável para reduzir o estresse durante o manejo. O presente trabalho propôs avaliar o efeito do eugenol como anestésico para manejo do curimatã (Prochilodus nigricans). Foram utilizados 50 espécimes (221,34±9,0 g; 25,8 ±1,1 cm), submetidos a cinco tratamentos com concentrações de 0, 25, 50, 100 e 200 mg L−1 de eugenol em exposição de 10 minutos. Foram registrados os tempos necessários para atingir cada estágio anestésico e a recuperação de cada peixe. Para verificação dos níveis de glicose sanguínea, foram realizadas coletas individuais de sangue dos peixes antes da imersão e após os 10 minutos de exposição ao anestésico. A avaliação do efeito do anestésico sobre as brânquias foi realizada por meio de análises histopatológicas. A concentração de 50 mg L−1 ficou dentro do limite ideal de três minutos preconizado para indução à anestesia cirúrgica e não elevou significativamente os níveis de glicose quando comparada ao grupo controle (35,7±19,4 mg dL−1), além de não provocar lesões branquiais. Nessa concentração, os peixes apresentaram níveis de glicose sanguínea controlada, dentro dos teores basais, além de não correrem o risco de apresentarem problemas posteriores em relação à mortalidade, pois essa concentração garante a boa saúde das brânquias e uma boa recuperação dos animais.

ABSTRACT The use of anesthetics in fish farming is essential to reduce stress during management. The present study proposes to evaluate the effect of eugenol as an anesthetic for the management of curimatã (Prochilodus nigricans). Fifty specimens were used (221.34±9.0 g; 25.8 ±1.1 cm), submitted to five treatments with concentrations of 0, 25, 50, 100 and 200 mgL−1 eugenol for 10 min. The times required to reach each anesthetic stage and the recovery of each fish were recorded. To check bloodglucose levels individual blood samples were taken from the fish before immersion and after ten minutes of anesthetic exposure. Evaluation of the anesthetic effect ongills was performed by histopathological analysis. The concentration of 50 mgL−1 was within the ideal limit of three minutes recommended for surgical anesthesia induction and did not significantly increase glucose levels when compared to the control group (35.7±19.4 mg dL−1), besides not causing gill injuries. At this concentration the fish presented controlled blood glucose levels within the basal levels, besides not taking the risk to have later problems concernig mortality, because this concentration ensures the good health of the gills and good recovery of the animals.

RESUMO O queijo minas artesanal é produzido por culturas starters endógenas, incluindo bactérias ácido-láticas (BAL). Algumas BAL podem possuir potencial probiótico. Com isso, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar as propriedades probióticas in vitro de lactobacilos isolados de queijo minas artesanal produzido no estado de Minas Gerais. Dez amostras de lactobacilos, previamente isoladas desses queijos, foram submetidas aos seguintes testes: susceptibilidade aos antimicrobianos, tolerância ao suco gástrico artificial e aos sais biliares, produção de peróxido de hidrogênio e antagonismo contra micro-organismos patogênicos e não patogênicos. Apenas L. plantarum (C0) foi sensível a todos os antimicrobianos testados, enquanto as outras amostras de BAL foram resistentes a, pelo menos, uma droga testada. Seis amostras foram tolerantes ao suco gástrico artificial, e L. brevis (A6) apresentou crescimento nesse meio. Três amostras foram tolerantes aos sais biliares. Apenas L. brevis (E35) produziu peróxido de hidrogênio. Diferença (P<0,05) foi observada entre as médias dos halos de inibição de lactobacilos contra Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 19433 e Lactobacillus plantarum C24 no teste do spot-on-the-lawn. Todas as amostras de lactobacilos inibiram Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Salmonella enterica var. Typhimurium ATCC 14028 no teste de antagonismo em cocultura (P<0,0001). A maioria das amostras de lactobacilos apresentou potencial probiótico in vitro. Com base nas amostras testadas, L. brevis (A6) apresentou os melhores resultados, considerando-se todos os testes probióticos in vitro.

ABSTRACT Minas artisanal cheese is made from endogenous starter cultures, including lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Some LAB may possess probiotic potential. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the in vitro probiotic properties of lactobacilli isolated from Minas artisanal cheeses produced in Minas Gerais. Ten samples of lactobacilli, formerly isolated from those cheeses, were submitted to the following assays: antimicrobial susceptibility, tolerance to artificial gastric juice and biliary salts, production of hydrogen peroxide and antagonism against pathogenic and non-pathogenic micro-organisms. Only L. plantarum (C0) was sensitive to all tested antimicrobials, while the other LAB samples were resistant to at least one drug. Six samples were tolerant to artificial gastric juice, and L. brevis (A6) even grew in that medium. Three samples were tolerant to biliary salts. Only L. brevis (E35) produced hydrogen peroxide. Difference (P< 0.05) was observed among the means of inhibition haloes of lactobacilli against Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 19433 and Lactobacillus plantarum C24 in spot-on-the-lawn assay. All samples of lactobacilli inhibited Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Salmonella enterica var. Typhimurium ATCC 14028 in co-culture antagonism test (P< 0.0001). Most lactobacilli samples showed in vitro probiotic potential. From the tested samples, L. brevis (A6) presented the best results considering all in vitro probiotic tests.

Os objetivos deste experimento foram identificar e associar alterações radiográficas do aparato podotoclear de equinos do Regimento de Cavalaria Alferes Tiradentes da Policia Militar do estado de Minas Gerais sem histórico e sinais clínicos de doença do osso navicular. Foi avaliado um total de 33 equinos, de ambos os sexos, com idade entre 10 e 20 anos. Os dígitos torácicos foram radiografados de forma padronizada nas projeções lateromedial (LM), dorsoproximal palmarodistal 65º (DPPD) e palmaroproximal palmarodistal (SK). A radiopacidade medular aumentada em projeção SK foi a principal alteração radiográfica detectada. Essa alteração foi associada a maior número de invaginações sinovais, a maior espessura de cortical em relação à medular em exposição SK e a maior relação corticomedular em exposição LM (P<0,05). Esses achados indicam uma predisposição da população equina para desenvolver a síndrome do osso navicular, possivelmente associada ao trauma repetitivo promovido pelo constante trabalho em piso duro.

The aims of this study were to identify and associate radiographic changes of podotoclear apparatus in horses from the Tiradentes Calvary Regiment of the Military Police of Minas Gerais State without history and clinical signs of navicular disease. 33 horses from both sexes, aged between 10 and 20 years were evaluated. The thoracic digits were radiographed in a standardized manner in lateralmedial (LM), palmaroproximal-distodorsal 65o(DPPD) and palmaroproximal-distopalmar (SK) projections. The increased medullary radiopacity in SK projection was the main radiological change detected and was associated with a higher number of synoval invaginations, increased cortical thickness in relation to medulla in SK exposure and increased corticomedullar in LM exposure (P < 0.05). These findings indicate a predisposition of this population to develop navicular syndrome, which is possibly associated with repetitive trauma promoted by constant work on hard floors.

Investiga-se a equação de Schrödinger unidimensional com uma classe de potenciais V(|x|) que se anulam no infinito e apresentam singularidade dominante na origem na forma α/|x|β(0 < β < 2). A hermiticidade dos operadores associados com quantidades físicas observáveis é usada para determinar as condições de contorno apropriadas. Dupla degenerescência e exclusão de soluções simétricas, consoante o valor de β, são discutidas. Soluções explícitas para o átomo de hidrogênio e o potencial de Kratzer são apresentadas.

The one-dimensional Schrodinger equation for a class of potentials V(|x|) which vanish at infinity and present dominant singularity at the origin in the form α/|x|β(0 < β < 2) is investigated. The hermiticity of the operators related to observable physical quantities is used to determinate the proper boundary conditions. Double degeneracy and exclusion of symmetric solutions, depending on the value of β, are discussed. Explicit solutions for the hydrogen atom and the Kratzer potential are presented.

Cultivaram-se condrócitos obtidos da articulação do joelho de coelhos. Metade das células foi mantida em cultura para posterior implantação, e a outra metade foi congelada durante seis meses com a finalidade de avaliar a viabilidade. Criou-se um defeito circular osteocondral no joelho direito de outros vinte e sete coelhos. O grupo controle (GC) não recebeu tratamento. Os grupos descongelado (TH) e fresco (FH) receberam, respectivamente, implantes heterólogos de condrócitos cultivados descongelados e frescos, associados com PRP. O grupo GC apresentou maior dor e claudicação em comparação com os outros grupos aos sete dias após o implante. Microscopicamente, aos 45 e 90 dias, os grupos TH e FH mostraram preenchimento da falha com tecido cartilaginoso contendo condrócitos circundados por uma matriz densa de glicosaminoglicanos. Nesse período, no grupo CG, a cura ocorreu com tecido conjuntivo fibroso vascularizado e sem integração com o osso subcondral. Condrócitos heterólogos criopreservados foram viáveis para implantação e tratamento de lesões osteocondrais; a associação com o PRP permitiu a fixação de células na lesão e ofereceu fatores de crescimento que aceleraram a reparação com o tecido semelhante à cartilagem hialina articular.

Chondrocytes obtained from stifle joint of New Zealand White rabbits were cultivated. Half of cells were maintained in culture for later implantation and the others frozen during six months to evaluate viability. A circular osteochondral defect was created in the right stifle of other twenty seven rabbits. The control group (CG) received no treatment. The thawed (TH) and fresh (FH) heterologous groups received, respectively, an implant of cultivated thawed or fresh heterologous chondrocytes associated with platelet rich plasma (PRP). The CG group showed greatest pain and lameness compared to the other groups seven days after the implantation. Microscopically, at 45 and 90 days, the TH and FH groups showed filling with cartilaginous tissue containing chondrocytes surrounded by a dense matrix of glycosaminoglycans. In the CG group, healing occurred with vascularized fibrous connective tissue without integration to the subchondral bone. Cryopreserved heterologous chondrocytes were viable for implantation and healing of osteochondral lesions; the association with PRP allows the fixation of cells in the lesion and offers growth factors which accelerates repair with tissue similar to articular hyaline cartilage.

Investiga-se a equação de Schrödinger unidimensional com o oscilador harmônico singular. A hermiticidade dos operadores associados com quantidades físicas observáveis é usada como critério para mostrar que o oscilador singular atrativo ou repulsivo exibe um número infinito de soluções aceitáveis, contanto que o parâmetro responsável pela singularidade seja maior que um certo valor crítico, em discordância com a literatura. O problema definido em todo o eixo exibe dupla degenerescência no caso do oscilador singular e intrusão de adicionais níveis de energia no caso do oscilador não-singular. Outrossim, mostra-se que a solução do oscilador singular não pode ser obtida a partir da solução do oscilador não-singular via teoria da perturbação.

The one-dimensional Schrödinger equation with the singular harmonic oscillator is investigated. The Hermiticity of the operators related to observable physical quantities is used as a criterion to show that the attractive or repulsive singular oscillator exhibits an infinite number of acceptable solutions provided the parameter responsible for the singularity is greater than a certain critical value, in disagreement with the literature. The problem for the whole line exhibits a two-fold degeneracy in the case of the singular oscillator, and the intrusion of additional solutions in the case of a nonsingular oscillator. Additionally, it is shown that the solution of the singular oscillator can not be obtained from the nonsingular oscillator via perturbation theory.

RESUMO Objetivou-se com este estudo realizar o primeiro inquérito soro-epidemiológico para o vírus da maedi-visna e Chlamydophila spp. em 12 rebanhos de ovinos do Município de Uberlândia, MG. Foram utilizadas 334 amostras de soro sanguíneo de ovinos e aplicou-se um inquérito epidemiológico a cada propriedade. Os testes realizados para a pesquisa de anticorpos contra o vírus da maedi-visna e Chlamydophila spp. foram imunodifusão em gel de ágar (IDGA) e reação de fixação do complemento (RFC), respectivamente. Não foram detectados ovinos reagentes para maedi-visna. Verificou-se uma prevalência de 3,3% para Chlamydophila spp., com títulos variando de 32 a 64. Não houve diferença estatística significativa (p > 0,05) para os fatores de risco analisados. Ressalta-se a importância dos sistemas de vigilância epidemiológica para atuar no controle dessas infecções, evitando a introdução do vírus da maedi-visna e uma maior propagação da Chlamydophila spp. neste município.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to carry out the first investigation into the serological prevalence of maedi-visna virus and Chlamydophila spp. on 12 sheep breeding farms in Uberlândia County, MG, Brazil. A total of 334 blood serum samples were used and an epidemiological survey was completed by each farm. The tests to detect maedi-visna and Chlamydophila spp. antibodies were an agar gel immunodiffusion (AGID) and a complement fixation test (CFT), respectively. None of the sheep were reactive to maedi-visna. The detection of antibodies against Chlamydophila spp. was 3.3%, with titers varying from 32 to 64. There was no statistically significant difference (p > 0.05) in regard to the risk factors analyzed. The importance of epidemiological surveillance systems to aid in the control of these infections is emphasized, in order to avoid the introduction of maedi-visna virus and a wider spread of Chlamydophila spp. in this county.

RESUMO Leptospiras excretadas pela urina podem sobreviver por longos períodos em águas de superfície e solos, na dependência do pH e teor de umidade e de matéria orgânica. Investigou-se a influência do meio ambiente na transmissão da leptospirose em dois rebanhos exclusivos de ovinos (A e C) e dois de ovinos consorciados com bovinos (F e H) da região de Sorocaba, SP, no período de dezembro de 2007 a setembro de 2008. Foram examinadas amostras de soro pela reação de soroaglutinação microscópica; de urina, água e solo pelo cultivo para leptospiras e urina de ovinos pela PCR. Condições edafoclimáticas, pH das águas de superfície e solo, granulometria e permeabilidade do solo foram analisadas. Todos os rebanhos apresentaram pelo menos um animal sororeagente para Leptospira spp. Apenas a PCR de um pool de urina de ovinos (H) foi positiva. Leptospira spp. foi isolada do lago de F. O pH das águas de superfície variou entre 6,0-7,0; e nos solos entre 4,5 e 6,8. Os índices de matéria orgânica em A, C e H variaram de 24 a 35 g/dm3, e 63 g/dm3 em F. A composição do solo de A e F mostrou-se franco-argiloarenosa, C argilosa e H franco-siltosa; como texturas mistas são capazes de manter a umidade, principalmente devido a argila. Diante da presença de animais sororeatores e portanto da circulação de Leptospira spp. nos rebanhos, conclui-se que o ciclo de transmissão é dependente da interação sinérgica e antagônica de muitas variáveis; onde o pastejo num habitat com alto teor de umidade parece ser limitante.

ABSTRACT Leptospires excreted by urine are able to survive for long periods in surface water and soil depending on the pH, humidity and organic matter presence. This paper reported the influence of environment conditions on the transmission of leptospirosis in two sheep-only farms (A and C) and two cattle-sheep farms (F and H) from December 2007 to September 2008. Serum samples were examined by microscopic agglutination test; urine, surface water and soil samples were cultured for leptospires, and ovine urine pools were analyzed by PCR. Regional edaphoclimatic conditions, pH of surface water and soil, granulometry and permeability of soil were analyzed. All herds presented at least one reactor to Leptospira spp. Only the PCR of an ovine urine pool of herd H was positive and Leptospira spp. was isolated from the F lake. The pH of water samples ranged from 6.0 to 7.0; while in soil it was around from 4.5 to 6.8. Soil organic matter were 24 to 35 g/dm3 in A, C e H, and 63 g/dm3 in F. Soil samples of A and F showed loamy-clay texture; C had clay soil, and H loamy-silt soil; as mixed compositions are able to maintain the humidity, mainly where clay is present. As the presence of reactors in all herds indicated the contact with Leptospira spp., it was concluded that the cycle of transmission is dependent on the synergistic and antagonistic interaction of many variables; but the close contact of animals grazing in a high humidity habitat seems to be limiting.

Descreve-se um surto de intoxicação natural por Arrabidaea corallina (Jacq.) Sandw. (fam. Bignoniaceae) em caprinos no Município de Boqueirão, semiárido da Paraíba, durante a estação seca. De um rebanho de 550 caprinos maiores de um ano foram afetados 56 (10%) e morreram 6 (1%), com sinais clínicos de diarreia, aumento dos movimentos ruminais e depressão. Os demais animais se recuperaram após serem retirados da pastagem. O rebanho alimentava-se de pastagem nativa e nesse período dispunham de pouca forragem. Todavia, A. corallina era a única planta invasora que se mantinha verde e existia em grande quantidade. Um caprino afetado foi necropsiado. O intestino delgado apresentava conteúdo liquefeito, fétido e enegrecido e alterações de enterite catarral. Ao exame histológico observou-se enterite aguda, difusa e moderada, ocasionalmente com presença de Eimeria sp. Não foram observadas lesões macroscópicas ou microscópicas significativas em outros órgãos. A doença foi reproduzida experimentalmente em 4 caprinos após administração das folhas frescas de A. corallina em 3-6 doses diárias de 15g por kg de peso animal. Os caprinos apresentaram diarreia 3-4 dias após o início da ingestão e se recuperaram 5-6 dias após o final da administração. Conclui-se que o consumo de A. corallina é responsável pela ocorrência da doença em caprinos a campo. No entanto outras doenças como a infestação parasitária e a desnutrição podem contribuir para causar a morte dos animais. Recomenda-se a retirada de caprinos de áreas invadidas por A. corallina quando, em consequência de estiagem, não houver outra forragem disponível.

An outbreak of poisoning by Arrabidaea corallina (Jacq.) Sandw. (Fam. Bignoniaceae) in goats is reported, which occurred in the municipality of Boqueirão, semiarid of Paraíba, during the dry season. In a flock of 550 goats, older than one year of age, 56 (10%) were affected and 6 (1%) died. Clinical signs were diarrhea, increased ruminal movements and depression. The goats recovered after being moved to another paddock. The pasture had low forage availability and large amounts of A. corallina was the only other green plant observed. One goat was necropsied. The gut had liquid, fetid and blackish content, and showed catarrhal enteritis. Histology revealed acute, diffuse and moderate enteritis. Eimeria sp. was also observed. Non significant macroscopic or histological lesions were seen in other tissues. The disease was experimentally reproduced in four goats after the administration of fresh leaves of A. corallina, at 3-6 daily doses of 15g per kg of body weight. The animals showed diarrhea 3-4 days after the beginning of administration and recovered 5-6 days afterwards. It is concluded that the plant is responsible for the outbreak of diarrhea in goats, but parasitic disease or malnutrition can be contributing factors to the animal death. Goats should be withdrawn from paddocks with A. corallina if during the dry seasons no other forage is available.

Avaliou-se o capim-tanzânia (Panicum maximum cv Tanzânia) cortado aos 42, 63, 84, 107 e 126 dias quanto à produtividade, às características agronômicas, à composição bromatológica e à digestibilidade in vitro. Observou-se aumento na altura da planta do capim-tanzânia até os 84 dias, com aumento da produção de massa verde de forragem e aumento na produção de matéria seca com o avançar da idade ao corte. O aumento da idade ao corte resultou em diminuição do percentual de folhas e em aumento no percentual de hastes. Na composição bromatológica, observaram-se diminuição do teor de proteína bruta e aumento das frações fibrosas, com aumento do nitrogênio retido nessa última com o avançar da idade. Os resultados obtidos refletiram-se na cinética de fermentação ruminal, descrita pela técnica in vitro semiautomática de produção de gases, demonstrando menor potencial de produção de gases, menor taxa fraccional de fermentação e, consequentemente, menor degradabilidade efetiva da matéria seca. Recomenda-se o corte do capim-tanzânia no intervalo de 42 a 63 dias de crescimento.

The potential for use of Tanzania grass (Panicum maximum cv. Tanzania) cut at different ages for the production of silage was evaluated. In the first experiment, Tanzania grass, cut at 42, 63, 84, 107, and 126 days of growth, was evaluated considering its productivity, agronomic characteristics and chemical composition. It was observed gain in height of Tanzania grass until the 84th day, with increased the production of green fodder and mass production of dry material with the advancing age of cutting. It also resulted in a decrease in the percentage of leaves and an increase in the percentage of stems. Regarding chemical composition, it was detected a decrease in crude protein percentage and an increase of fibrous fractions with the advancing of age. The results were reflected in the kinetics of rumen fermentation of Tanzania grass cut on the 42nd, 63rd, 84th, 107th, and 126th days, described by semi-automated in vitro gas production technique, showing less potential for gas production, lower fractional of fermentation and, consequently, less effective degradability of dry matter. For the production of grass silage, it is recommended cutting the Tanzania grass from 42 to 63 days of age.

Existem muitas opções de herbicidas para aplicações em pré-emergência em cana-de-açúcar, mas o grande desafio atual para a cultura é o controle pós-emergente. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a eficácia do herbicida mesotrione em mistura com ametryn e metribuzin no controle em pós-emergência de 10 espécies daninhas semeadas em cana-de-açúcar, variedade RB 86-7515. As espécies daninhas selecionadas para o experimento foram: Brachiaria decumbens, Brachiaria plantaginea, Cenchrus echinatus, Digitaria horizontalis, Panicum maximum, Amaranthus deflexus, Bidens pilosa, Euphorbia heterophylla, Ipomoea nil e Sida glaziovii, semeadas nas entrelinhas após a emergência da cultura. Os herbicidas foram aplicados aos 45 dias após o plantio da cana-de-açúcar, com as plantas daninhas monocotiledôneas na fase de terceiro perfilho e as dicotiledôneas com três a quatro pares de folhas, e constaram dos seguintes tratamentos: mesotrione (120 g ha-1); ametryn (2.000 g ha-1); metribuzin (1.920 g ha-1); mesotrione + ametryn (120 g + 2.000 g ha-1); mesotrione + metribuzin (120 g + 1920 g ha-1) e testemunhas no mato e no limpo. Concluiu-se que os herbicidas isolados ou em mistura foram seletivos à cana-de-açúcar. Com relação à eficácia, observou-se que o herbicida mesotrione foi eficiente no controle de A. deflexus; ametryn, no controle de A. deflexus, B. pilosa e I. nil; metribuzin, no controle de A. deflexus, B. pilosa e S. glaziovii; mesotrione + ametryn, no controle de B. decumbens, B. plantaginea, D. horizontalis, P. maximum, A. deflexus, B. pilosa, I. nil e S. glaziovii; e mesotrione + metribuzin, no controle de B. plantaginea, D. horizontalis, P. maximum, A. deflexus, B. pilosa e S. glaziovii. Foi constatado elevado efeito sinergístico do mesotrione com os herbicidas testados, sendo o efeito mais pronunciado na mistura com o ametryn.

There are many herbicide application options for sugarcane pre-emergence but, currently, post-emergence control is the great challenge. The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of the herbicide mesotrione in mixture with ametryn and metribuzin in the post-emergence control of ten weeds sown in sugarcane, variety RB86-7515. The weeds used in the experiment were: Brachiaria decumbens, Brachiaria plantaginea, Cenchrus echinatus, Digitaria horizontalis, Panicum maximum, Amaranthus deflexus, Bidens pilosa, Euphorbia heterophylla, Ipomoea nil and Sida glaziovii, sown in between the rows after crop emergence. The herbicides were applied on the 45th day after sugarcane planting when the monocotyledon weeds reached the third tiller phase and the dicotyledon weeds completed three to four leaves. The following treatments were carried out: mesotrione (120 g ha-1); ametryn (2,000 g ha-1); metribuzin (1,920 g ha-1); mesotrione + ametryn (120 g + 2,000 g ha-1); mesotrione + metribuzin (120 g + 1,920 g ha-1) and control with and without weeds. It was concluded that the herbicides, isolated or in mixture, were selective to sugarcane. Regarding control efficiency, it was observed that the herbicide mesotrione was efficient in the control of A. deflexus; ametryn was efficient in the control of A. deflexus, B. pilosa and I. nil; metribuzin was efficient in the control of A. deflexus, B. pilosa and S. glaziovii; mesotrione + ametryn were efficient in the control of B. decumbens, B. plantaginea, D. horizontalis, P. maximum, A. deflexus, B. pilosa, I. nil and S. glaziovii, and mesotrione + metribuzin was efficient in the control of B. plantaginea, D. horizontalis, P. maximum, A. deflexus, B. pilosa and S. glaziovii. A high synergistic effect of mesotrione was verified with the tested herbicides, with the mixture with ametryn being the most prominent.
