Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é analisar de que forma as questões de gênero fazem parte do cotidiano escolar, e, a partir da percepção de estudantes matriculadas/os nos cursos de Técnico em Mecânica e Técnico em Processos Fotográficos, do Instituto Federal do Paraná – Campus Curitiba, compreender se elas/eles identificam ou não desigualdades de gênero no seu percurso formativo. Como técnica de pesquisa utilizou-se a entrevista semiestruturada, aplicada a vinte e quatro estudantes dos referidos cursos. Os resultados da pesquisa apontam que as questões de gênero estão imbricadas e naturalizadas em todo o processo educativo do IFPR.

Abstract The objective of this article is to analyze how gender issues are part of common school practices and to understand, through the perception of students enrolled in courses for mechanical technicians and for technicians in photographic processes at the Vocational-Technical High School at the Federal Institute of Paraná –Curitiba campus, whether they identify gender inequalities in their educational careers. The research methodology involved semi-structured interviews issued to twenty-four students in the courses. The survey results indicate that gender issues are intertwined with and naturalized in the entire educational process at the vocational school.

Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é analisar trajetórias de estudantes de engenharias e licenciaturas na Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná - UTFPR - e na Universidade Federal da Bahia - UFBA -, considerando possíveis fatores relacionados ao gênero que impactem nesses percursos. A pesquisa foi realizada em duas etapas, sendo a primeira quantitativa e a segunda, na qual foi baseado este artigo, qualitativa, em que foram entrevistadas/os estudantes de Engenharia Mecânica e Civil e Licenciatura em Letras e Matemática das duas universidades. Com o estudo percebeu-se que há diferença nas trajetórias e desafios enfrentados por homens e mulheres que ousam adentrar em universos acadêmicos socialmente percebidos como reduto do sexo oposto. Mulheres na engenharia e homens nas licenciaturas são os mais expostos a preconceitos e discriminações.

Abstract This article analyzes the paths of engineering and teaching degree students at the Federal Technological University of Paraná - UTFPR - and at the Federal University of Bahia - UFBA - considering possible factors related to gender that impact these paths. The study was conducted in two stages, the first was quantitative and the second, in which this article was based, qualitative. Mechanical and civil engineering students as well as language and mathematics teaching students from the two universities were interviewed. The study showed that there are differences in the paths and challenges faced by men and women who dare to enter into academic environments socially perceived as the stronghold of the opposite sex. Women in engineering degrees and men in teaching degrees are the most exposed to prejudice and discrimination.

Resumen El objetivo de este artículo es analizar trayectorias de estudiantes de ingenierías y licenciaturas en la Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná -UTFPR- y en la Universidade Federal da Bahia -UFBA-, considerando posibles factores relacionados al género que impacten en estos recorridos. La investigación se llevó a cabo en dos etapas, siendo la primera cuantitativa y la segunda, en la que se basó este artículo, cualitativa; en ambas se entrevistaron estudiantes de Ingeniería Mecánica y Civil y de Licenciatura en Letras y Matemáticas de las dos universidades. Por medio del estudio es posible darse cuenta que hay diferencia en las trayectorias y desafíos enfrentados por hombres y mujeres que osan ingresar en universos académicos socialmente percibidos como reductos del sexo opuesto. Mujeres en ingeniería y hombres en licenciaturas son los más expuestos a prejuicios y discriminaciones.

RÉSUMÉ Cet article analyse des trajectoires d’étudiants en ingénierie et en licences d’enseignement à l’Universidade Federal do Paraná - UTFPR - et à l’Universidade Federal da Bahia - UFBA -, tenant compte des facteurs possiblement associés au genre qui ont de l´impact sur ces parcours. La recherche a été réalisée en deux étapes: la première, de nature quantitative, et la seconde, source de cet article, de nature qualitative, ou ont été interrogés des étudiants des cours d’Ingénierie Mécanique et Civile et de licence d’enseignement en Lettres et en Mathématiques des deux établissements ont été interrogés. L´étude montre des différences dans les trajectoires et défis rencontrés par les hommes et femmes qui osent acceder à des univers académiques socialement perçus comme des bastions du sexe opposé. Les femmes en ingénierie et hommes en licence d’enseignement sont souvent exposés à des préjugés et des discriminations.

Resumo: O objetivo deste artigo é analisar discursos de homens e mulheres estudantes de engenharia e licenciaturas na UTFPR e na UFBA sobre os motivos de suas escolhas pelos cursos que realizam. O estudo faz parte da pesquisa de pós-doutorado que investigou as engenharias e licenciaturas das duas universidades sob a ótica de gênero. A pesquisa foi dividida em duas etapas, uma quantitativa e outra qualitativa, sendo a etapa qualitativa realizada a partir de entrevista virtual. Os resultados apontam para o fato de que muitos são os fatores que interferem nas escolhas de homens e mulheres. Dentre eles, destaca-se a influência familiar e de professores/as, a expectativa de remuneração e, principalmente, a vontade própria. Os diferentes motivos alegados pelos/as estudantes dos cursos analisados não estão relacionados exclusivamente ao gênero. As próprias características dos cursos, não necessariamente associadas a estereótipos de gênero, assumem papel relevante nestas escolhas.

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to analyze the discourses of men and women engineering students and degrees at UTFPR and UFBA about the reasons for choosing their undergraduate programs. The study is part of post-doctoral research which investigated, from a perspective of gender, the choice for studying engineering from two universities. The research was divided into two stages, one quantitative and the other qualitative, and the qualitative step being performed from virtual interview. The results point to the fact that there are many factors that interfere in the choices of men and women for choosing their program. Among them, there is the family and former teachers influence, the expectation of salaries and especially their will. The different reasons given by the students of the analyzed courses are not related exclusively to gender. Undergraduate programs characteristics not necessarily associated with gender stereotypes play significant role in these choices.

É importante mostrar que as mulheres tiveram papel imprescindível no desenvolvimento da área de software, para, deste modo, estimular as mulheres para a informática. Assim, o objetivo deste artigo é fornecer modelos femininos na área de informática, apresentando mulheres pioneiras que tiveram importante participação no desenvolvimento da computação. Sendo a informática uma ciência, a relação entre mulher e ciência é brevemente analisada, fornecendo um embasamento teórico dos motivos que levam a acreditar que as mulheres começaram a fazer ciência somente no século XX.

It is important to show that women have had an essential role in the development of software, so as to stimulate women to computer science. Thus, the objective of this article is to show feminine examples in computer science, presenting pioneer women who have had an important participation in the development of computation. The relation between women and science is briefly analyzed, supplying a theoretical ground for the reasons that led us to believe that women started in the world of science only in the 20th century.
