ABSTRACT Studies on lability of soil phosphorus (P) under integrated crop-livestock systems (ICLS) are still scarce, especially for deep soil layers (more than 0.20 m depth) and different managements in the crop and livestock phase. Distinct management in these phases may lead to a different distribution of soil P pools according to its lability (labile, moderately labile, less labile and residual) and, consequently, the P availability for plant nutrition. This study aimed to determine the soil P pools, by P fractionation and its distribution in lability classes. In a long-term ICLS experiment of grain and sheep production established in 2003, in Southern Brazil, we sampled in 2017 the 0.00-0.05, 0.05-0.10, 0.10-0.20, 0.20-0.26, 0.26-0.30 and 0.30-0.40 m layers of a Red Dystrophic Acrisol ( Argissolo Vermelho distrófico ) under two cropping systems in the summer (soybean/corn rotation and soybean/soybean succession), two grazing intensities (moderate and low) and two methods (continuous and rotational) in winter. Fractionation of P consisted of sequential extractions with anionic exchange resin, NaHCO 3 0.5 mol L -1 , NaOH 0.1 mol L -1 , HCl 1 mol L -1 , and NaOH 0.5 mol L -1 . The fractions were grouped in four different pools: labile, moderated labile, less labile and residual P. The soybean/soybean succession increased the labile pool of soil P in the 0.00-0.10 m layer compared to the soybean/corn rotation, regardless of the management of the livestock phase. Meanwhile, the management of the livestock phase also influenced soil P lability, regardless of the management of the crop phase. Low grazing intensity increased the levels of labile soil P in the 0.00-0.05 m layer, in comparison with the moderate grazing intensity and regardless of the grazing method. Grazing methods did not impact the soil P lability or content. The greater soil P availability in the soybean/soybean succession can be attributed to the higher quality (low carbon/nitrogen ratio) of the residue, while in the low grazing intensity to the higher forage dry matter production. Such management benefits nutrient cycling and consequently the P availability to the plants, being important to decrease production costs with the reduction and/or greater use efficiency of phosphate fertilizers.

Abstract The genus Rhinella is one of the most diverse groups of bufonid toads, currently composed by 93 valid species and naturally distributed throughout different Neotropical ecoregions. Here, we analyze nine Brazilian populations of toads representing species of the Rhinella margaritifera and Rhinella marina groups. These new data include the first description of the R. hoogmoedi and R. proboscidae karyotypes, as well as other taxonomically unresolved forms. Chromosomal analysis of the populations revealed pronounced chromosomal uniformity (2n=22), including the diploid number and chromosomal morphology. Three different NOR-bearing chromosomes were identified: in the subterminal region of pair 10q in R. hoogmoedi, Rhinella sp. 1 and Rhinella sp. 2, in subterminal region of 7p in R. proboscidae and Rhinella cf. margaritifera while in R. henseli and R. icterica was detected in interstitial region of 7p. Karyotypic uniformity of the genus permits the inference of interspecific chromosome homologies and evolutionary changes in the NOR-bearing chromosome may represent an informative character in species group level. The review of the cytogenetic data of the Rhinella species together with the new karyotypes reported here contributes to the understanding of the chromosomal evolution of these toads, which karyotypes are highly conserved despite the ample distribution of many forms.

Resumo O objetivo desta revisão integrativa foi investigar na literatura a associação entre consumo de bebidas alcoólicas e violência física, com ênfase em identificar o preditor entre eles. Foram realizadas buscas nas bases de dados Lilacs, Medline e SciELO, adotando como descritores: “violence”, “alcohool drinking” e “adolescent”. Foram incluídos artigos publicados entre 2005 e 2014, e que analisassem a associação entre o consumo de álcool e a violência física, usando análise multivariada. Do total de 1667 artigos, 29 se enquadravam nos critérios de inclusão. O consumo de álcool foi a variável mais investigada como preditora do envolvimento em violência física, quando o adolescente é o perpetrador ou a vítima da violência, com associação significativa em 19 estudos. No entanto, quando a vitimização foi investigada como preditora (7 estudos), na maioria destes (6) houve associação significativa com a ingestão de bebidas alcoólicas. O consumo de bebida alcoólica se mostrou preditor da violência física, tanto para o adolescente perpetrador quanto para aquele vítima da violência. Entretanto, ter sido vítima de violência na infância e na adolescência também pode levar o adolescente ao consumo do álcool.

Abstract The scope of this integrative review was to investigate the association between alcohol consumption and physical violence in the literature, with an emphasis on identifying the predictor between them. A search was conducted in the Lilacs, Medline and SciELO databases, adopting “violence,” “alcohool drinking” and “adolescent” as descriptors. It included articles published between 2005 and 2014 that analyzed the association between alcohol consumption and physical violence using multivariate analysis. Of the total of 1667 articles located, 29 met the inclusion criteria. Alcohol consumption was investigated more as a predictor of involvement in physical violence when the teenager is the perpetrator or the victim of violence, with a significant association found in 19 studies. However, when victimization was investigated as a predictor (7 studies), most of these (6) revealed no significant association with the intake of alcoholic beverages. The consumption of alcohol has proven to be the predictor of physical violence for both the teen perpetrator and for the adolescent victim of violence. However, having been the victim of violence in childhood and adolescence may also lead adolescents to alcohol consumption.

ResumoA Restinga de Maricá, situada na porção leste do estado do Rio de Janeiro (Brasil), corresponde a uma das poucas áreas ainda preservadas na planície litorânea fluminense. Neste trabalho, apresentamos um estudo sobre as comunidades vegetais que compõem a restinga, bem como a identificação das principais espécies presentes em cada uma delas. O objetivo é estabelecer coleções de referência para reconstituições paleoambientais desse litoral durante o Quaternário. Para isso, utilizaram-se como métodos os indicadores fitólitos e isótopos estáveis de carbono. Foram identificadas seis comunidades vegetais distribuídas perpendicularmente à linha de costa sobre as barreiras arenosas, planície lagunar, margem lagunar e embasamento alterado: Halófila-psamófila, "Scrub", Brejo herbáceo, "Slack", Vegetação arbustiva e Floresta seca. As espécies de plantas analisadas em cada comunidade apresentaram em geral baixa produtividade de fitólitos. Somente as famílias Poaceae, Cyperaceae e Arecaceae produzem fitólitos em grandes quantidades e diversidade de morfotipos. Os resultados das análises de isótopos estáveis de carbono em sedimentos indicaram um predomínio de plantas C3 ou de mistura de plantas C3 e C4, apresentando uma boa correspondência com os resultados encontrados nas plantas coletadas sobre cada uma delas. Como conclusão, verificou-se que os isótopos de carbono associados às análises fitolíticas mostraram-se bons indicadores para a reconstituição da vegetação na área estudada.

AbstractThe Maricá restinga, located in the eastern part of the Rio de Janeiro State (Brazil), corresponds to one of the few remaining preserved areas of the state's coastal plain. This paper reports on a study of the Maricá restinga plant communities and also presents an identification of the main plant species present in each community, with the objective of establishing reference collections, by the methods of the proxies opal phytoliths and stable carbon isotopes, for paleoenvironmental reconstructions of this coastal area during the Quaternary. Six plant communities, distributed perpendicularly to the coast line over sandy barriers, lagoonal plain, lagoon margin and weathered basement were identified: halophile-psamophile, scrub, herbaceous swamp, slack, shrubby vegetation and dry forest. In general, the plant species analyzed in each community presented low productivity of opal phytoliths, as only the Poaceae, Cyperaceae and Arecaceae families produce a great amount and diversity of morphotypes of opal phytoliths. The results of the analysis of stable carbon isotopes in sediments indicated a predominance of C3 or a mixture of C3 and C4 plants, presenting a close correlation with the results found in plants collected in each community. In conclusion, it was verified that the carbon isotope analysis associated with that of the opal phytoliths are good proxies for the reconstruction of vegetation in the study area.
