Abstract Objectives: To evaluate the inconsistency between clinical diagnosis of death and autopsy findings in adolescents with chronic diseases. Methods: A cross-sectional study including a sample of adolescents’ autopsies who died in a pediatric and adolescent tertiary hospital over 18 consecutive years. During this period, there were n = 2912 deaths, and n = 581/2912(20%) occurred in adolescents. Of these, n = 85/581(15%) underwent autopsies and were analyzed. Further results were divided into two groups: Goldman classes I or II (high disagreement between main clinical diagnosis of death and anatomopathological findings, n = 26) and Goldman classes III, IV or V (low or no disagreement between these two parameters, n = 59). Results: Median age at death (13.5 [10‒19] vs. 13 [10‒19] years, p = 0.495) and disease duration (22 [0‒164] vs. 20 [0‒200] months, p = 0.931), and frequencies for males (58% vs. 44%, p = 0.247) were similar between class I/II vs. class III/IV/V. The frequency of pneumonia (73% vs. 48%, p = 0.029), pulmonary abscess (12% vs. 0%, p = 0.026), as well as isolation of yeast (27% vs. 5%, p = 0.008), and virus (15% vs. 2%, p = 0.029) identified in the autopsy, were significantly higher in adolescents with Goldman class I/II compared to those with Goldman class III/IV/V. In contrast, cerebral edema was significantly lower in adolescents of the first group (4% vs. 25%, p = 0.018). Conclusion: This study showed that 30% of the adolescents with chronic diseases had major discrepancies between clinical diagnosis of death and autopsy findings. Pneumonia, pulmonary abscess, as well as isolation of yeast and virus were more frequently identified at autopsy findings in the groups with major discrepancies.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to compare the use of the Frequency Modulation (FM) System by children and adolescents in a public hearing health center in the state of São Paulo. Methods: the analysis of medical records based on eligibility criteria. Data were collected from 340 participants born between 1998 and 2011, fitted with FM System, and who attended the follow-up appointment after fitting the device. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. Results: hard-of-hearing children and adolescents of both genders from all over Brazil, attending elementary, middle or high school in public or private schools, participated. The data showed that 115 children and 155 adolescents effectively used the device, especially at school. The main difficulty for children was the lack of support from teachers; for adolescents, it was the feeling of embarrassment. Conclusion: some difficulties, especially on children, in adhering to the use of FM Systems were identified. Hence, to ensure the FM System's effective use, the importance of providing guidance and awareness of its benefits to patients, and their family members and teachers, during the fitting appointment and follow-up consultations, is emphasized.

RESUMO Objetivo: comparar o uso do Sistema de Frequência Modulada por crianças e adolescentes em um Serviço Público de Saúde Auditiva do estado de São Paulo. Métodos: análise de prontuários, balizada pelos critérios de elegibilidade. Foram coletados dados de 340 participantes adaptados com o Sistema de Frequência Modulada, nascidos entre 1998 e 2011 e que compareceram à consulta de retorno pós-adaptação do dispositivo. Os dados foram analisados de forma descritiva e inferencial. Resultados: participaram crianças e adolescentes de ambos os gêneros provenientes de todo Brasil, com deficiência auditiva, cursando o ensino fundamental I ou II e ensino médio na rede pública ou privada de ensino. Os dados revelaram que 115 crianças e 155 adolescentes faziam uso efetivo do dispositivo, especialmente na escola. As principais dificuldades relatadas foram a falta de apoio dos professores entre as crianças e o sentimento de vergonha entre os adolescentes. Conclusão: foram identificadas dificuldades na adesão ao uso do Sistema FM, sobretudo por parte das crianças. Diante disso, ressalta-se a importância da orientação e da conscientização dos benefícios do uso do Sistema FM aos pacientes, familiares e seus professores, tanto no momento da adaptação do dispositivo quanto nas consultas de acompanhamento, a fim de assegurar o seu uso efetivo.

Resumo Fundamento A hipertrofia e a dilatação do ventrículo direito observadas na hipertensão arterial pulmonar (HAP) prejudicam a dinâmica do ventrículo esquerdo (VE) achatando o septo interventricular. Objetivo Investigar se o treinamento físico resistido (TFR) de intensidade baixa a moderada é benéfico para funções contráteis do VE e de cardiomiócitos em ratos durante o desenvolvimento de HAP induzida por monocrotalina (MCT). Métodos Foram usados ratos Wistar machos (Peso corporal: ~ 200 g). Para avaliar o tempo até o possível surgimento de insuficiência cardíaca (ou seja, ponto de desfecho), os ratos foram divididos em dois grupos, hipertensão com sedentarismo até a insuficiência (HSI, n=6) e hipertensão com treinamento até a insuficiência (HTI, n=6). Para testar os efeitos do TFR, os ratos foram divididos entre grupos de controle sedentários (CS, n=7), hipertensão com sedentarismo (HS, n=7) e hipertensão com treinamento (HT, n=7). A HAP foi induzida por duas injeções de MCT (20 mg/kg, com um intervalo de 7 dias). Os grupos com treinamento foram submetidos a um protocolo de TFR (subir escadas; 55-65% da máxima carga carregada), 5 dias por semana. A significância estatística foi definida em p <0,05. Resultados O TFR prolongou o ponto de desfecho (~25%), melhorou a tolerância ao esforço físico (~55%) e atenuou as disfunções de contratilidade de VE e de cardiomiócitos promovidas pela MCT preservando a fração de ejeção e o encurtamento fracional, a amplitude do encurtamento, e as velocidades de contração e relaxamento nos cardiomiócitos. O TFR também preveniu os aumentos de fibrose e colágeno tipo I no ventrículo esquerdo causados pela MCT, além de manter as dimensões de miócitos e colágeno tipo III reduzidas por MCT. Conclusão O TFR de intensidade baixa a moderada é benéfico para funções contráteis de VE e cardiomiócitos em ratos durante o desenvolvimento de HAP induzida por MCT.

Abstract Background The right ventricular hypertrophy and dilation observed in pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH) damages the left ventricle (LV) dynamics by flattening the interventricular septum. Objective To investigate whether low- to moderate-intensity resistance exercise training (RT) is beneficial to LV and cardiomyocyte contractile functions in rats during the development of monocrotaline (MCT)-induced PAH. Methods Male Wistar rats (Body weight: ~ 200 g) were used. To assess the time to potential heart failure onset (i.e., end point), rats were divided into sedentary hypertension until failure (SHF, n=6) and exercise hypertension until failure (EHF, n=6) groups. To test RT effects, rats were divided into sedentary control (SC, n = 7), sedentary hypertension (SH, n=7), and exercise hypertension (EH, n=7) groups. PAH was induced by two MCT injections (20 mg/kg, with 7 days interval). Exercise groups were submitted to an RT protocol (Ladder climbing; 55-65% of carrying maximal load), 5 times/week. Statistical significance was assumed at P < 0.05. Results RT prolonged the end point (~25 %), enhanced the physical effort tolerance (~ 55%), and mitigated the LV and cardiomyocyte contractility dysfunctions promoted by MCT by preserving the ejection fraction and fractional shortening, the amplitude of shortening, and the velocities of contraction and relaxation in cardiomyocytes. RT also prevented increases in left ventricle fibrosis and type I collagen caused by MCT, and maintained the type III collagen and myocyte dimensions reduced by MCT. Conclusion Low- to moderate-intensity RT benefits LV and cardiomyocyte contractile functions in rats during the development of MCT-induced PAH.

Resumo A Sociedade Brasileira de Cefaleia (SBCe) nomeou um Comitê de Autores com o objetivo de estabelecer um consenso com recomendações sobre o tratamento profilático da enxaqueca episódica com base em artigos da literatura mundial e da experiência pessoal. A enxaqueca é um distúrbio subdiagnosticado e subtratado que acomete um bilhão de pessoas no mundo e mais de 30 milhões de brasileiros. É conhecido na comunidade médica de neurologistas e, sobretudo, dos especialistas em cefaleia, a necessidade de se divulgar o conhecimento sobre o tratamento profilático da enxaqueca. Com esta finalidade, aliada às necessidades de atualizações de drogas e de se aumentar o conhecimento sobre a doença em si (frequência, intensidade, duração, impacto e talvez a progressão da enxaqueca), foi elaborado este Consenso, com metodologia totalmente on-line, por 12 grupos que revisaram e escreveram sobre as categorias farmacológicas das drogas e, ao final, reuniram-se para a leitura e conclusão do documento. As classes de drogas estudadas para este Consenso foram: anticonvulsivantes, antidepressivos tricíclicos, anticorpos monoclonais do antipeptídeo relacionado ao gene da calcitonina (peptídeo relacionado ao gene da calcitonina — anti-CGRP), betabloqueadores, anti-hipertensivos, inibidores dos canais de cálcio, outros antidepressivos (inibidores seletivos de recaptação de serotonina, ISRSs, e antidepressivos de ação dual), outras drogas, e politerapia. O tratamento hormonal, bem como anti-inflamatórios e triptanas em esquema de profilaxia mínima (miniprofilaxia), será abordado em um capítulo próprio. As classes de drogas estudadas na parte I do Consenso foram: anticonvulsivantes, antidepressivos tricíclicos, anticorpos monoclonais anti-CGRP, e betabloqueadores.

Abstract The Brazilian Headache Society (Sociedade Brasileira de Cefaleia, SBCe, in Portuguese) nominated a Committee of Authors with the aim of establishing a consensus with recommendations regarding prophylactic treatment for episodic migraine based on articles published in the worldwide literature, as well as personal experience. Migraine affects 1 billion people around the world and more than 30 million Brazilians. In addition, it is an underdiagnosed and undertreated disorder. It is well known within the medical community of neurologists, and especially among headache specialists, that there is a need to disseminate knowledge about prophylactic treatment for migraine. For this purpose, together with the need for drug updates and to expand knowledge of the disease itself (frequency, intensity, duration, impact and perhaps the progression of migraine), this Consensus was developed, following a full online methodology, by 12 groups who reviewed and wrote about the pharmacological categories of the drugs used and, at the end of the process, met to read and establish conclusions for this document. The drug classes studied were: anticonvulsants, tricyclic antidepressants, monoclonal anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide (anti-CGRP) antibodies, beta-blockers, antihypertensives, calcium channel inhibitors, other antidepressants (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, SSRIs, and dual-action antidepressants), other drugs, and polytherapy. Hormonal treatment and anti-inflammatories and triptans in minimum prophylaxis schemes (miniprophylaxis) will be covered in a specific chapter. The drug classes studied for part I of the Consensus were: anticonvulsants, tricyclic antidepressants, monoclonal anti-CGRP antibodies, and beta-blockers.

ABSTRACT The germplasm characterization and the analysis of genetic divergence are fundamental requirements to determine the genetic diversity available and peppers have considerable variability not most explored and quantified. Thus, the aim of this study was to characterize morphological and agronomically pepper accessions and their genetic divergence. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse of the Department of Agronomy of the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco, Recife, between the months of December 2014 to June 2015. Thirteen pepper accessions in pots were sown, the experimental design was a randomized block with six replications, and the experimental unit consisted of three pots. Seedling, leaves, plant and fruit characteristics were evaluated. For the analysis of genetic divergence, the Mahalanobis distance and the UPGMA method were used. It was observed the formation of three distinct groups, being fruit width the trait that most contributed to the genetic discrimination of the accessions. Group I presented larger fruits, Group II showed heavier and wider fruits and Group III had mostly smaller, lighter and thinner fruits. There were differences for most of the evaluated characteristics, showing great morphological and agronomic variability among the accessions. The peppers have a high potential to be exploited in breeding.

Resumo A osteotomia Le Fort I é amplamente utilizada em cirurgia ortognática para corrigir as deformidades maxilares. No entanto, esse tipo de osteotomia pode estar relacionado ao aumento da largura da base alar. Os objetivos do presente estudo foram comparar duas técnicas de sutura da base alar após a realização da osteotomia Le Fort I, bem como observar qual tipo apresenta melhor resultado no controle do alargamento da base alar após o reposicionamento maxilar em cirurgia ortognática. Foi realizado um ensaio clínico randomizado com 40 pacientes alocados aleatoriamente em dois grupos de intervenção: grupo 1 - pacientes submetidos à técnica de sutura interna e grupo 2 - pacientes submetidos à técnica de externa. Dos 40 pacientes, 65% eram do sexo feminino e 35% do masculino. A média de idade dos pacientes foi de 30,25 no grupo I e 28,6 no grupo II. Houve aumento da largura da base alar em ambos os grupos, com diferença significativa entre as médias (P <0,001). Foi possível comparar a evolução das médias da largura da base alar entre o grupo I e o grupo II. Assim, observou-se que a técnica externa (grupo II) controlou melhor a largura da base alar após a osteotomia Le Fort I. Não foi possível relacionar o alargamento da base alar com o tipo de movimentação maxilar realizado (P> 0,05). No geral, a sutura da base alar é um componente essencial das osteotomias Le Fort para controlar o alargamento da base alar. Nesse estudo, a técnica externa foi mais eficaz quando comparada à técnica interna no controle do alargamento da largura da base alar.

Abstract Le Fort I osteotomy is widely used in orthognathic surgery to correct maxillary deformities. However, this osteotomy may be related with the increase of alar base width. The aims of the present study were to compare two alar cinch suture after Le Fort I osteotomy and observe which type presents a better result in controlling the enlargement of the alar base after maxillary repositioning in orthognathic surgery. A randomized clinical trial was carried out with 40 patients randomly assigned in two intervention groups: group 1 - patients submitted to internal suture and group 2 - patients submitted to external suture. Of the 40 patients, 65% were female and 35% were male. The mean age of the patients was 30,25 in group I and 28,6 in group II. There was an increase in the alar base width in both groups, with significant difference between the means (P < 0,001). It was possible to compare the evolution of the means of the alar base width between group I and group II. Thus, it was observed that the external technique (group II) better controlled alar base width after Le Fort I osteotomy. It was not possible to relate the enlargement of the alar cinch with maxillary movement performed (P > 0,05). Overall, alar base cinch suture is an essential component of Le Fort osteotomies to control the alar base width. In this study, the external technique was more effective when compared to the internal technique in controlling the enlargement of the alar base width.

Resumo Objetivo Avaliar primariamente a dor pós-operatória, por meio da escala visual analógica (EVA), nos pacientes submetidos a reconstrução do ligamento cruzado anterior (RLCA) que receberam soluções anestésicas intra-articulares (IAs). Métodos Ensaio clínico randomizado com uma amostra de 48 pacientes, divididos em 4 grupos: Grupo I (n ¼ 12) - 20 ml de solução fisiológica (controle); Grupo II (n ¼ 12) - 20 ml de bupivacaína a 0,5%; Grupo III (n ¼ 12) - 20 ml de bupivacaína a 0,5% þ 0,1 mg de epinefrina; e Grupo IV (n ¼ 12) - 20 ml de solução fisiológica þ 0,1 mg de epinefrina, injetados no joelho ao término da cirurgia. A dor foi avaliada pela EVA imediatamente e 6, 12, 24 e 48 horas após o procedimento. Resultados Observou-se grande variabilidade nos resultados da EVA entre os pacientes avaliados em cada grupo. Verificou-se, pela análise de variância (analysis of variance, ANOVA) de Kruskal-Wallis, considerando um nível de 5% de significância, que as soluções anestésicas IAs de cada grupo influenciaram na avaliação da dor desses pacientes (p ¼ 0,003), sendo os do Grupo III os que apresentaram menor dor pósoperatória. Não se evidenciou um maior ou menor consumo de drogas analgésicas suplementares, ou efeitos adversos das decorrentes das soluções empregadas. Conclusão A solução combinada de bupivacaína e epinefrina foi a mais eficaz no controle da dor nos pacientes submetidos a RLCA, mas sem diferenças estatisticamente significativas com relação ao grupo II (p ¼ 0,547). Não se observou diminuição ou aumento no consumo de analgésicos suplementares, ou o aparecimento de efeitos sistêmicos adversos (p > 0,05).

Abstract Objective To evaluate postoperative pain, using the visual analog scale (VAS), in patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) and receiving intra-articular anesthetic solutions. Methods The present is a randomized clinical trial with a sample of 48 patients divided into 4 groups: Group I (n ¼ 12) - 20 mL of saline solution (control); Group II (n ¼ 12) - 20 mL of 0.5% bupivacaine; Group III (n ¼ 12) - 20 mL of 0.5% bupivacaine þ 0.1 mg of epinephrine; and Group IV (n ¼ 12) - 20 mL of saline solution þ 0.1 mg of epinephrine. These solutions were injected into the knee at the end of the surgery. Pain was assessed using the VAS immediately and 6, 12, 24 and 48 hours after the procedure. Results The VAS scores were highly variable among the groups. A Kruskal-Wallis analysis of variance (ANOVA), considering a level of significance of 5%, revealed that all intra-articular anesthetic solutions influenced the assessment of pain (p ¼ 0.003), and that Group-III subjects presented less postoperative pain. There was no evidence of a higher or lower use of supplemental analgesic agents, or of adverse effects resulting from these anesthetic solutions. Conclusion Bupivacaine combined with epinephrine was the most effective solution for pain control in patients undergoing ACLR, but with no statistically significant differences when compared to Group II (p ¼ 0.547). There was no decrease or increase in the use of supplemental analgesics or in the occurrence of adverse systemic effects (p > 0.05).

When analyzing some translations of comics and the difficulty on translating the letter, it is possible to verify how this kind of translation points out the predominantly imagetic character of comics, as so reminds us the visual character of the writing. From these relations between translating the letter and the image (Christin, 2013), I present some examples of translation knots, on language translation and re-lettering, in an attempt to contribute for a theory of the comics.

Resumo A tradução de histórias em quadrinhos implica uma revisão da página inteira em que se insere o texto traduzido, e demanda um novo serviço gráfico muitas vezes desnecessário na tradução de escritas: o letreirista, considerado por Assis como um outro tradutor das obras em quadrinhos (Assis, 2018). Analisando algumas traduções e a dificuldade de traduzir-se a letra, verifica-se a como esse tipo de tradução aponta para o caráter predominantemente imagético das histórias em quadrinhos, bem como lembram o caráter visual da escrita. A partir dessas relações entre a tradução da letra e da imagem (Christin, 2013), apresento alguns exemplos de nós tradutórios, entre a tradução linguística e o releitreiramento, em uma tentativa de contribuir para uma teoria dos quadrinhos.

Resumo Objetivo analisar a distribuição espacial da mortalidade fetal por sífilis congênita entre os bairros do Município do Recife-PE. Método estudo ecológico, realizado a partir do indicador epidemiológico taxa de mortalidade fetal por sífilis congênita, agregado ao nível dos bairros, em dois quinquênios: 2007 a 2011 e 2012 a 2016. O padrão de autocorrelação espacial foi determinado pelos Índices de Moran Global e Local, com significância estatística inferior a 5% e representado em mapas BoxMap e MoranMap que apontaram as áreas com taxas altas, baixas e em transição epidemiológica e os clusters de maior interesse epidemiológico. Resultados foram notificados 208 óbitos fetais. O Índice Global de Moran evidenciou autocorrelação espacial positiva em grau razoável, no primeiro quinquênio (I = 0,351 e p-valor = 0,01) e, em grau fraco, no segundo quinquênio (I = 0,189 e p-valor = 0,02). Os Distritos Sanitários I e VII obtiveram os maiores percentuais de bairros que formaram o cluster de altas taxas do indicador com 63,3% e 38,4% no primeiro e segundo quinquênios, respectivamente. Conclusões e implicações para a Prática a análise espacial apontou as áreas críticas para ocorrência do indicador, podendo contribuir para o investimento nas áreas prioritárias de prevenção da transmissão vertical da sífilis.

Abstract Objective To analyze the spatial distribution of fetal mortality due to congenital syphilis among the neighborhoods of the city of Recife-PE. Method Ecological study, based on the epidemiological indicator fetal mortality rate due to congenital syphilis, aggregated at the neighborhood level, in two five-year periods: 2007 to 2011 and 2012 to 2016. The pattern of spatial autocorrelation was determined by the Moran Global and Local Indexes, with statistical significance lower than 5% and represented in BoxMap and MoranMap maps that indicated areas with high, low and epidemiological transition rates and clusters of greater epidemiological interest. Results It was reported 208 fetal deaths. The Moran Global Index showed a reasonable degree of positive spatial autocorrelation in the first five-year period (I = 0.351 and p-value = 0.01) and a weak degree in the second five-year period (I = 0.189 and p-value = 0.02). Sanitary Districts I and VII had the highest percentages of neighborhoods that formed the cluster of high rates of the indicator with 63.3% and 38.4% in the first and second five-year periods, respectively. Conclusions and Implications for Practice The spatial analysis pointed out the critical areas for the occurrence of the indicator, which could contribute to investment in priority areas for the prevention of vertical transmission of syphilis.

Resultados Notificadas 208 muertes fetales. El Índice Global de Moran mostró un grado razonable de autocorrelación espacial positiva en el primer quinquenio (I = 0,351 y p-valor=0,01) y un grado débil en el segundo quinquenio (I = 0,189 y p-valor=0,02). Los Distritos Sanitarios I y VII presentaron los mayores porcentajes de barrios que formaron el cluster de tasas altas del indicador con 63,3% y 38,4% en el primer y segundo quinquenio, respectivamente. Conclusión e Implicación para la Práctica El análisis espacial señaló las áreas críticas para la ocurrencia del indicador, que podrían contribuir a la inversión en áreas prioritarias para la prevención de la transmisión vertical de sífilis.

Resumo Objetivo Verificar a prevalência da violência contra a mulher perpetrada pelo parceiro íntimo, identificar o fator predominante da resiliência, verificar se a violência por parceiro íntimo influencia na resiliência. Métodos Pesquisa epidemiológica analítica transversal com 291 mulheres entre 18 e 59 anos, usuárias da Atenção Primária à Saúde, no período de abril a julho de 2018 em um município da Amazônia ocidental brasileira. Instrumentos: questionário socioeconômico; rastreador de violência validado por Schraiber e col.; escala de resiliência validada por Pesce e col. Resultados Prevalência de violência nos últimos 12 meses: 53,3%. A maior concentração de participantes foi no Fator I da resiliência com 55% das participantes. Existe relação estatisticamente significativa entre as variáveis da violência física e resiliência (p=0,023). Conclusão Mais da metade das participantes sofreu violência por parceiro íntimo, principalmente a violência psicológica, seguida da física e da sexual. Predominou nas participantes o Fator resiliente I de perseverança, disciplina, bom humor e empatia. A violência física influenciou negativamente no desenvolvimento da autoconfiança e capacidade de adaptação, tornando estas mulheres menos flexíveis às mudanças, mais dependentes e com menos autoconfiança.

Abstract Objective To verify the prevalence of violence against women perpetrated by the intimate partner, to identify the predominant factor of resilience, to verify whether intimate partner violence influences resilience. Methods Cross-sectional analytical epidemiological research with a total of 291 women between 18 and 59 years old, users of Primary Health Care, from April to July 2018 in a city in the western Brazilian Amazon. Instruments: socioeconomic questionnaire; violence tracker validated by Schraiber et al.; resilience scale validated by Pesce et al. Results Prevalence of violence in the last 12 months: 53.3%. The highest concentration of participants was in Factor I of resilience with 55% of participants. There is a statistically significant relationship between the variables of physical violence and resilience (p=0.023). Conclusion More than half of the participants suffered intimate partner violence, mainly psychological violence, followed by physical and sexual violence. The Resilient Factor of perseverance I, discipline, good humor and empathy predominated in the participants. Physical violence negatively influenced the development of self-confidence and adaptability, making these women less flexible to change, more dependent and with less self-confidence.

Abstract Mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) are rare inborn errors of metabolism, leading to the accumulation of glycosaminoglycans (GAG) in distinct tissues. We investigated oropharyngeal dysphagia using the videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS) in patients with different MPS types. Since there is a lack of studies systematically evaluating this disorder in this population, the use of a standard technique should contribute to better evaluate individuals with MPS. A cross-sectional and observational study enrolling patients followed by an outpatient service for lysosomal diseases at the Genetics Service of the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (SGM/HCPA) was conducted. Patients underwent semi-structured interviews, clinical evaluation and VFSS. Nineteen patients were evaluated, including patients with MPS types I (16%), II (42%), IIIb (10%) and IVa (32%). Nearly all patients (95%) presented with oropharyngeal dysphagia in the VFSS. The most frequent findings were impaired chewing during oral phase (94%) and reduced laryngeal elevation in the pharyngeal phase (72%). Oropharyngeal dysphagia constituted a prevalent symptom in the studied cohort regardless of MPS type. Our data reinforces the notion that this disorder should be objectively assessed since it can significantly compromise the nutrition and the hydration of these patients as well as lead to tracheobronchial aspiration, thus resulting in aspiration pneumonia and even death eventually.

Resumo A tetralogia napolitana de Elena Ferrante, publicada entre 2011 e 2014, em Itália, foi traduzida em diversos países e rapidamente espalhou-se pelo mundo, popularizando e pautando debates entre leitores, especialmente no público feminino, a partir da história de vida e de amizade de Lila e Lenù. Neste estudo, analiso a estratégia de emancipação de Lenù por meio da sua trajetória com a escrita.

Abstract Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan Novels were published between 2011 and 2014, in Italy, and quickly spread across the world in a very comprehensive way, popularizing and guiding debates among readers, especially the female audience, based on the story of friendship between Lila and Lenù. With this study, I analyze the strategy for the emancipation of the character Lenù, within the framework of writing and narrative.

RESUMO Laerte Coutinho preparava o lançamento de seu livro Muchacha (COUTINHO, 2010) quando concedeu uma entrevista à Revista Bravo! declarando-se, naquele momento, crossdresser. Desde então, seu trabalho e sua vida foram objeto de muita discussão dentro e fora da academia quanto a sua transgeneralidade. Hoje assumidamente uma pessoa transgênero, Coutinho tem aproximadamente 50 anos de carreira e uma obra vasta no formato fragmentário de tiras e histórias curtas em quadrinhos, em que vimos seu corpo representado esporadicamente. O processo de autodescoberta de seus próprios desejos permeou também seu trabalho, em que personagens encenavam-se travestis enquanto a autora experimentava roupas e adereços “de mulher”. Neste trabalho, pretendo observar alguns dos quadrinhos de Laerte em que o corpo aparece encenado, sobretudo tiras e livros publicados a partir de 2005.

ABSTRACT Laerte Coutinho was preparing the launch of her book Muchacha (COUTINHO, 2010) when gave an interview to Bravo! Magazine declaring herself crossdresser. Since then, her work and life were object of many discussions in and outside academic milieu. Nowadays openly a transgender person, Coutinho has approximately fifty years of career and a vast work in the fragmentary form of strips and short comics stories, where we can see her body represented occasionally. The self-discovery processes of her own desires permeate her own work, where characters played as transvestites while the author were experimenting with “woman’s” clothes and accessories. In this work, I intend to observe some comics by Laerte where the body appears staged, in particular strips and books published after 2005.

Abstract The effects of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in the diluent for cryopreservation of goat semen on seminal quality and the optimal levels to be used were evaluated. After collection, semen was pooled and physically evaluated, then divided into four aliquots with different DHA levels in the diluent: 0, 10, 20, and 30 ng mL-1. The semen was cryopreserved in a TK 3000® freezing machine and then thawed for assessment at 37 °C. Sperm motility and vigor, membrane integrity, acrosomal integrity, mitochondrial activity, and sperm chromatin compaction were evaluated after thawing. A completely randomized design was used. For normally distributed variables, ANOVA and regression analysis were used to test for differences between treatments, and for non-parametric data, the Kruskal Wallis test was used at the 5% significance level. There were no differences among groups in terms of membrane integrity, acrosomal integrity, or chromatin compaction. There was a decrease in class I mitochondrial activity with increasing DHA level (P<0.05), but no differences in classes II, III, and IV (P>0.05). The inclusion of 10 to 30 ng mL-1 of DHA in the diluent did not result in improvements in seminal quality parameters after thawing, with some impairment observed in the mitochondrial activity of the sperm cells.

Resumo Depois de quase uma década pesquisando partos e maternidades, tornei-me mãe. Recordo-me de, durante o meu doutoramento, ter sido interpelada, pelas mulheres com que convivia, acerca de minha sensibilidade para com as suas experiências maternas (Carneiro, 2015), já que ainda não tinha vivido na pele o que me contavam. Eu não tinha filhos e não tinha parido. Alguns anos depois, após o nascimento de meu segundo filho, passei a escrever e a publicar algumas reflexões sobre a vida no pós-parto, mas, agora, sobre a minha própria experiência, a partir de uma série intitulada Cartas de um puerpério. Escrevi sobre mim, sobre o parto, sobre o bebê e, sobretudo, sobre o resguardo, em tom pessoal e confessional, mas também antropológico, haja vista minhas reflexões dialogarem todo o tempo com a teoria posta, ou ainda em tessitura, bem como com a cultura local sobre o maternar. O meu olhar recaiu sobre o puerpério e suas interfaces com ideias de corpo, sexualidade, amizade, política, domesticidade, solidão, cansaço e, mais recentemente, pandemia. Tais Cartas foram publicadas em uma rede social virtual e, por isso, despertaram o diálogo com outras mulheres. Partindo delas, pretendo discutir como e quanto funcionaram como um diário pessoal e diário de campo; como um espaço de desague e de autorreflexão, tudo a um só tempo; mas também como lugar de produção intelectual e de olhares sócio-antropológicos para com a maternidade contemporânea. Um olhar oriundo da casa e do doméstico como espaço que inventa vida.

Abstract After nearly a decade of researching births and maternity hospitals, I became a mother. I remember that, during my PhD, I was questioned by the women I lived with about my sensitivity to their maternal experiences (Carneiro, 2015), as I had not yet lived through what they told me. I had no children and I had not given birth. A few years later, after the birth of my second child, I started to write and publish some reflections about life in the postpartum period, but now about my own experience, from a series entitled Letters from a puerperium. I wrote about myself, about childbirth, about the baby and, above all, about being protected, in a personal and confessional, but also anthropological tone, as my reflections dialogued all the time with the theory put or still in tessitura, as well as with the local culture about the maternal. My gaze fell on the puerperium and its interfaces with ideas of the body, sexuality, friendship, politics, domesticity, loneliness, fatigue and, more recently, a pandemic. These Letters were published on a virtual social network and, therefore, sparked dialogue with other women. Starting from them, I intend to discuss how and how much they worked as a personal diary and field diary; as a space of drainage and self-reflection, all at the same time; but also as a place of intellectual production and socio-anthropological perspectives on contemporary motherhood. Resumen Después de casi una década de investigar los partos y los hospitales de maternidad, me convertí en madre. Recuerdo que, durante mi doctorado, las mujeres con las que conviví me interrogaron sobre mi sensibilidad hacia sus vivencias maternas (Carneiro, 2015), ya que aún no había vivido lo que me decían. No tenía hijos y no había dado a luz. Unos años más tarde, tras el nacimiento de mi segundo hijo, comencé a escribir y publicar algunas reflexiones sobre la vida en el posparto, pero ahora sobre mi propia experiencia, de una serie titulada Cartas de un puerperio. Escribí sobre mí, sobre el parto, sobre el bebé y sobre todo sobre el cobijo, en un tono personal y confesional, pero también antropológico, ya que mis reflexiones dialogaban todo el tiempo con la teoría puesta o aún en tesitura, así como con lo local. cultura sobre lo materno. Mi mirada se posó en el puerperio y sus interfaces con las ideas del cuerpo, la sexualidad, la amistad, la política, la domesticidad, la soledad, el cansancio y, más recientemente, una pandemia. Estas Cartas fueron publicadas en una red social virtual y, por tanto, despertaron el diálogo con otras mujeres. A partir de ellos, pretendo comentar cómo y cuánto funcionaron como diario personal y diario de campo; como espacio de drenaje y autorreflexión, todo al mismo tiempo; pero también como lugar de producción intelectual y perspectivas socio-antropológicas sobre la maternidad contemporánea. Una mirada que viene del hogar y lo doméstico como espacio que inventa la vida.
