RESUMO OBJETIVO Descrever e analisar a saudabilidade dos estabelecimentos com venda formal e informal de alimentos em terminais rodoviários da região metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro. MÉTODOS Realizou-se auditoria em 156 estabelecimentos formais e 127 pontos informais de venda de alimentos localizados em 14 terminais rodoviários das cinco cidades mais populosas da região metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro. Foram calculadas proporções de tipos de estabelecimentos e médias (IC95%) de indicadores de disponibilidade de alimentos nos ambientes formal e informal. Para o ambiente formal, foram descritos preços, proporções das formas de pagamento aceitas, dias e horários de funcionamento e categorias de alimentos com propaganda exposta. RESULTADOS A saudabilidade dos pontos de venda de alimentos nos terminais rodoviários era baixa (inferior a 36%). Em média, estavam disponíveis para compra 250% mais subgrupos de alimentos ultraprocessados do que in natura ou minimamente processados. Adquirir comida nesses locais era conveniente porque diversas formas de pagamento estavam disponíveis e os horários de funcionamento dos estabelecimentos acompanhavam os picos de movimentação. Além disso, 73,3% das propagandas se referiam a bebidas ultraprocessadas e o custo-benefício da compra de alimentos ultraprocessados era melhor que o de alimentos in natura ou minimamente processados. CONCLUSÃO O ambiente alimentar dos terminais rodoviários da região metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro promove uma alimentação não saudável. Políticas públicas de regulação devem se concentrar em iniciativas que limitem a ampla disponibilidade e publicidade de alimentos ultraprocessados nesses espaços de grande circulação de pessoas.

ABSTRACT PURPOSE To describe and analyze the healthiness of formal and informal food establishments in bus terminals of the metropolitan region of the state of Rio de Janeiro. METHOD An audit was conducted in 156 formal and 127 informal food establishments located in 14 bus terminals of the five most populous cities of the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. Proportions of types of establishments and means (95%CI) of food availability indicators in formal and informal settings were calculated. For the formal setting, prices, proportions of accepted payment methods, days and hours of operation, and food categories with displayed advertising were described. RESULTS The healthiness of food establishments in bus terminals was low (less than 36%). On average, ultra-processed food subgroups were 250% more available for purchase than fresh or minimally processed food. Purchasing food at these places was convenient because several forms of payment were available, and the opening hours of the establishments followed the peaks of movement. In addition, 73.3% of the advertising referred to ultra-processed drinks, and the cost-benefit of buying ultra-processed food was better than fresh or minimally processed food. CONCLUSION The food environment of bus terminals in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro promotes unhealthy eating. Regulatory public policies should focus on initiatives to limit the wide availability and advertising of ultra-processed food in spaces of great circulation of people.

Resumo Objetivo analisar as representações sociais, para homens e mulheres idosos, acerca da violência na velhice. Método estudo qualitativo baseado no referencial teórico-metodológico das representações sociais. Participaram 40 idosos usuários de Unidades de Saúde da Família em João Pessoa-PB, Brasil, através de entrevistas individuais, organizadas e submetidas ao software IRAMUTEQ, por meio da Classificação Hierárquica Descendente. Resultados a análise apontou cinco classes: Suscetibilidade da pessoa idosa; Prevenção da violência; Responsabilidade social; Expressão social da violência ao idoso; e Violência intrafamiliar. Os dados denotam que as representações da violência são expressas por fatores individuais, comunitários e relacionais/sociais, revelando algumas diferenças de gênero. Conclusões e implicações para a prática percebe-se que o gênero é elemento significativo nas representações. Enquanto os homens indicaram a necessidade de prevenção do fenômeno por meio da educação e responsabilização social, as mulheres apontaram noções subjetivas, incluindo abusos cometidos por familiares, e destacaram a relevância do profissional de saúde para a sua identificação. Tais aspectos apartam singularidades que carecem de um olhar apurado da enfermagem e demais profissionais das equipes da atenção básica, reconhecendo possíveis casos, notificando-os e agindo intersetorialmente para a interrupção das situações verificadas.

Abstract Objective to analyze the social representations, for elderly men and women, about violence in old age. Method qualitative study based on the theoretical-methodological framework of social representations. Participants were 40 elderly users of Family Health Units in João Pessoa-PB, Brazil, through individual interviews, organized and submitted to the IRAMUTEQ software, concluded by the Descending Hierarchical Classification. Results the analysis pointed to five classes: Susceptibility of the elderly; Violence prevention; Social responsibility; Social expression of violence against the elderly; and Intrafamily violence. The data show that the representations of violence are expressed by individual, community and relational/social factors, revealing some gender differences. Conclusions and implications for practice it is clear that gender is a significant element in representations. While men indicated the need to prevent the phenomenon through education and social accountability, women pointed to subjective notions, including abuses committed by family members, and highlighting the relevance of the health professional for its identification. Such aspects separate out singularities that lack an accurate look from nursing and other professionals of the primary care teams, recognizing possible cases, notifying them and acting intersectorally to interrupt the situations verified.

Resumen Objetivo analizar las representaciones sociales, de hombres y mujeres mayores, sobre la violencia en la vejez. Método estudio cualitativo basado en el referencial teórico-metodológico de las representaciones sociales. Los participantes fueron 40 personas mayores usuarios de Unidades de Salud de la Familia en João Pessoa-PB, Brasil, a través de entrevistas individuales, organizadas y enviadas al software IRAMUTEQ, por medio de la Clasificación Jerárquica Descendente. Resultados el análisis evidenció cinco clases: Susceptibilidad de los mayores; Prevención de la violencia; Responsabilidad social; Expresión social de la violencia contra los mayores; y Violencia intrafamiliar. Los datos muestran que las representaciones de la violencia son expresadas por factores individuales, comunitarios y relacionales/sociales, revelando algunas diferencias de género. Conclusiones e implicaciones para la práctica se percibe que el género es un elemento significativo en las representaciones. Mientras los hombres señalaron la necesidad de prevenir el fenómeno a través de la educación y la responsabilidad social, las mujeres señalaron nociones subjetivas, incluyendo los abusos cometidos por familiares, y destacaron la relevancia del profesional de la salud para su identificación. Tales aspectos separan singularidades que carecen de una mirada certera por parte de la enfermería y demás profesionales de los equipos de atención primaria, reconociendo posibles casos, notificándolos y actuando intersectorialmente para interrumpir las situaciones verificadas.

Abstract: The thermoinhibition of lettuce seed germination causes important losses for producers, who do not have thermotolerant commercial cultivars. One of the obstacles has been the scarcity of optimizing techniques capable of efficiently discriminating thermotolerant and thermosensitive cultivars. The aim of this work was to evaluate the use of neural networks to discriminate different levels of thermoinhibition in lettuce seeds. Seeds of 18 cultivars were evaluated for thermoinhibition considering the characteristics of the first and last germination count and germination speed index, in seeds subjected to temperatures of 20, 25, 30 and 35 °C. The remaining seeds, which did not germinate, were subjected to the tetrazolium test. Analyses were performed immediately after seed harvesting and repeated after six months of storage. Discriminant analysis was performed and the Kohonen’s Self-Organizing Map (SOM) was created using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs). Neural networks discriminate lettuce cultivars and organizes them in terms of seed thermoinhibition tolerance through Kohonen’s Self-Organizing Map. Discriminant analysis consistently identifies the Everglades and Luiza genotypes as tolerant to thermoinhibition.

Resumo: A termoinibição causa perdas importantes para os produtores, os quais não dispõem de cultivares comerciais com sementes termotolerantes. Há escassez de técnicas otimizadoras capazes de discriminar cultivares termotolerantes e termosensíveis com eficiência. Objetivou-se avaliar o uso de redes neurais para discriminar diferentes níveis de termoinibição em sementes de alface. Foram avaliadas sementes de 18 cultivares quanto à termoinibição considerando às características de primeira e última contagem de germinação e índice de velocidade de germinação, em sementes submetidas às temperaturas de 20, 25, 30 e 35 °C. As sementes remanescentes, que não germinaram, foram submetidas ao teste de tetrazólio. As análises foram realizadas imediatamente após a colheita das sementes e repetidas após seis meses de armazenamento. Uma análise discriminante e o Mapa Auto-Organizável de Kohonen (SOM) por Redes Neurais Artificiais (RNA’s) foram realizados. As redes neurais discriminam as cultivares de alface e as organiza quanto a tolerância a termoinibição das sementes por meio do Mapa Auto-Organizável de Kohonen. A análise discriminante indentifica de maneira coerente o genótipo Everglades e Luiza como tolerantes a termoinibição.

Abstract Introduction Understanding all the benefits of bimodality with self-assessment questionnaires on the effect of hearing on quality of life is still necessary. Objective To present whether bimodality still offers hearing benefits to the population who uses acoustic stimulation associated with electrical stimulation. Methods The present study included 13 participants aged between 16 and 80 years old who were users of cochlear implants from Cochlear Corporation and hearing aids. All patients underwent the Hearing in Noise Test, and their visual analog scale score was obtained. Four-tone means were collected, and the participants answered the Speech, Spatial and Hearing Qualities questionnaire. Results Bimodal users had an average sentence recognition rate of 76.0% in silence and 67.6% in fixed noise, and the signal-to-noise ratio in adaptive noise was +2.89dB. In addition, a lower level of difficulty was observed in the test using the visual analog scale. The domain with the highest average was auditory qualities (6.50), followed by spatial hearing (6.26) and hearing for speech (5.81). Individuals with an average between 50 and 70 dB of hearing level showed better sentence recognition in silence and noise. Conclusion Bimodal stimulation showed benefits for users with different degrees of hearing loss; however, individuals who presented greater hearing residue had better performance in speech recognition with noise and in silence in addition to a good perception of hearing quality.

Resumo: Introdução: O ensino de habilidades de exame físico, parte integrante e obrigatória dos currículos de escolas médicas, ocorre, tradicionalmente, com uma abordagem baseada na “demonstração e prática”, e, embora existam outros modelos, não há, até o momento, nenhuma evidência de que um seja superior ao outro. Inovações nessa área são apontadas como caminho para suprir as deficiências de ensino-aprendizagem. Objetivo: Este estudo teve como objetivos descrever a incorporação da videogravação e do videofeedback no ensino-aprendizagem de habilidades de exame físico e avaliar a eficácia desses recursos. Método: Foi realizado um estudo historicamente controlado antes e depois da intervenção com alunos do primeiro ano de um curso de Medicina. O grupo de intervenção, em que se aplicaram a videogravação e o videofeedback, foi constituído de 91 alunos do semestre 2019.2, e o grupo controle contou com 72 alunos do semestre 2018.1. Ambas as turmas realizaram duas avaliações teóricas somativas (T1 e T2) e duas práticas, no formato de um exame clínico objetivo estruturado (OSCE). Na análise estatística comparativa das notas de ambas as turmas, utilizaram-se os testes não paramétricos da soma de postos de Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney. Resultado: A mediana das notas das avaliações práticas (primeiro e segundo OSCEs) de 2019 foram maiores do que as de 2018. Constatou-se ainda que a turma de 2019 teve uma evolução positiva das suas notas práticas passando de uma mediana de 11,6 no primeiro OSCE para 13,85 no segundo OSCE, o que também ocorreu com as provas teóricas (p < 0,05). Já na turma de 2018, houve queda da mediana das notas da T1 para T2 e do primeiro OSCE para o segundo OSCE, mas sem significância estatística. Conclusão: A incorporação da videogravação e videofeedback no ensino-aprendizagem de habilidades de exame físico entre graduandos do primeiro ano do curso de Medicina, em ambientes simulados, mostrou-se efetiva na melhora do desempenho dos discentes em avaliações teóricas e práticas. Essa abordagem se mostra ainda como meio de desenvolvimento e aplicação de uma aprendizagem motora observacional, reflexiva, experiencial e da metacognição no ensino-aprendizagem de habilidades de exame físico entre estudantes de Medicina.

Abstract: Introduction: Physical examination skills, an integral and mandatory part of medical school curricula, are traditionally taught through an approach based on “demonstration and practice”, and although other models exist, there is, to date, no evidence that one is superior to the other. Innovations in this area are pointed out as a way to supply deficiencies in teaching and learning. Objectives: To describe the incorporation of video recording and video feedback in the teaching-learning of physical examination skills and to evaluate the effectiveness of such approach. Method: A historically controlled study was carried out before and after the intervention with students in the first year of a medical course. The intervention group, in which video recording and video feedback was applied, consisted of 91 students from semester 2019.2 and the control group had 72 students from semester 2018.1. Both classes underwent two summative theoretical (T1 and T2) and two practical assessments, in the format of an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE). In the comparative statistical analysis of the grades of both classes, the non-parametric Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney rank test was used. Results: The median of the marks of the practical evaluations (1st and 2nd OSCE) of the 2019 class were higher than those of 2018. It was also found that the class of 2019 showed a positive evolution in its practical marks, with the median score increasing from 11.6 in the 1st OSCE to 13.85 in the 2nd OSCE, which also happened with the theoretical tests (p <0.05). In the class of 2018, there was a drop in the median mark from T1 to T2 and from the 1st OSCE to the 2nd OSCE, but without statistical significance. Conclusion: The incorporation of video recording and video feedback in teaching-learning physical examination skills among first-year medical students, in simulated environments, proved to be effective in improving student performance in both theoretical and practical assessments. This approach is also shown as a means of developing and applying observational, reflective, experiential and metacognition motor learning in the teaching-learning of physical examination skills among medical students.

RESUMO Antecedentes: Medidas adaptadas transculturalmente para avaliar o desempenho nas atividades de vida diária (AVD) em indivíduos com doença de Parkinson (DP) são limitadas no Brasil. Objetivo: Adaptar transculturalmente o Questionário AVD e analisar sua reprodutibilidade em indivíduos com DP. Métodos: O Questionário AVD foi traduzido e adaptado transculturalmente para o português do Brasil. A reprodutibilidade foi analisada usando a confiabilidade teste-reteste e os valores de concordância. A confiabilidade dos itens individuais e as pontuações totais foram calculadas. Os limites de concordância foram verificados usando o gráfico Bland-Altman. O erro padrão da medida (EPM) e a diferença mínima detectável (DMD) foram calculadas. Pacientes classificados nos estágios 1–4 da escala de Hoehn e Yahr foram elegíveis. Resultados: Não foi identificada divergência entre a versão original e a versão adaptada, que demonstrou equivalência semântica e conceitual adequada. O gráfico Bland-Altman não mostrou mudanças sistemáticas nas pontuações médias do teste-reteste. O coeficiente de correlação intraclasse (CCI) foi de 0,98 (intervalo de confiança de 95% [IC95%] 0,93–0,99) e todos os itens individuais apresentaram bons níveis de confiabilidade (>0,60). Os valores do EPM (EPM%) e DMD (DMD%) foram 3,0 (6,75%) e 8,2 (18,7%), respectivamente. Esses valores estão em conformidade com os valores recomendados. Conclusões: O Questionário AVD-Brasil é um instrumento confiável para uso clínico e de pesquisa para avaliar a autopercepção do desempenho nas AVD em indivíduos com DP.

ABSTRACT Background: Culturally adapted measures to assess the performance of activities of daily living (ADL) in individuals with Parkinson’s disease (PD) are limited in Brazil. Objective: To adapt the ADL Questionnaire to the Brazilian culture and to analyze its reproducibility in individuals with PD. Methods: The ADL Questionnaire was translated and cross-culturally adapted to Brazilian Portuguese language. Reproducibility was analyzed using test-retest reliability and agreement values. The test-retest reliability of the individual items and total scores were calculated. The limits of agreement were verified using the Bland-Altman plot. The standard error of measurement (SEM) and the minimum detectable change (MDC) were calculated. Patients who were classified on a score of 1–4 on the modified Hoehn and Yahr scale were eligible. Results: No divergence was identified between the original and the adapted version, which demonstrated adequate semantic and conceptual equivalence. The Bland-Altman plot showed no systematic changes in the mean test-retest scores. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was 0.98 (95% confidence interval [95%CI] 0.93–0.99), and all individual items showed good levels of reliability (>0.60). The SEM (SEM%) and MDC (MDC%) values were 3.0 (6.75%) and 8.2 (18.7%), respectively. These values are within the recommended values. Conclusions: The ADL-Brazil Questionnaire is a reliable instrument to be used for clinical and research purposes to assess self-perceptions of ADL performance in individuals with PD.

Resumo Fundamento A pandemia da COVID-19 representa uma enorme carga para o sistema de saúde do mundo. Apesar de pacientes pediátricos terem sido relativamente poupados em comparação a adultos, estudos recentes mostraram um número crescente de pacientes críticos com Síndrome Inflamatória Multisistêmica Pediátrica (SIM-P) com disfunção cardiovascular importante. No entanto, pouco se conhece a respeito da relação entre anormalidades cardíacas e biomarcadores inflamatórios e de coagulação. Objetivos Investigar anormalidades ecocardiográficas em pacientes pediátricos com COVID-19 admitidos em um hospital terciário. Métodos Este foi um estudo longitudinal retrospectivo, baseado na revisão de prontuários médicos e ecocardiogramas de pacientes (0-19 anos) admitidos em um hospital terciário entre 30 de março e 30 de junho de 2020. Para a análise estatística, o nível de significância foi estabelecido em 5% (p<0,05). Resultados Foram incluídos 48 pacientes, 73% com doenças pré-existentes, 20 (41,7%) com SIM-P. A idade mediana foi 7,5 (0-18,6) anos; 27 (56,2%) eram do sexo masculino. A duração mediana de internação foi 15,4 (2-92) dias e sete (14,6%) pacientes morreram. Um total de 70 ecocardiografias foram realizadas, 66,7% submeteram-se ao exame somente uma vez, e 33,3% várias vezes. Vinte e três (48%) pacientes apresentaram anormalidades no ecocardiograma: oito (16.6%) disfunção sistólica do ventrículo esquerdo, seis (12.5%) disfunção sistólica do ventrículo direito, e 12 (25%) dilatação da artéria coronária (Z-score>+2,5). Anormalidades ecocardiográficas foram significativamente associadas com SIM-P, admissão na unidade de terapia intensiva pediátrica, suporte ventilatório/vasoativo, e morte ( p <0,05). Níveis significativamente mais altos de d-dímero (ng/mL) foram detectados em pacientes com disfunção ventricular esquerda [16733(4157-115668) vs. 2406.5(190-95040)], disfunção ventricular direita [25769(3422-115668) vs. 2803.5(190-95040)] e dilatação da artéria coronária [9652.5(921-115668) vs. 2724(190- 95040)] (p<0,05). Conclusão Anormalidades ecocardiográficas eram frequentes nos pacientes pediátricos com COVID-19 e associadas com piores desfechos clínicos. Exacerbação das vias de inflamação e coagulação pode exercer um importante papel na lesão cardiovascular nesses pacientes.

Abstract Background COVID-19 pandemic represents a huge burden to the health system in the world. Although pediatric COVID-19 patients have been relatively spared compared with adults, recent reports showed an increasing number of critically ill patients with multisystemic inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-c), with marked cardiovascular impairment. Nevertheless, little is known about the relationship between cardiac abnormalities and inflammatory and coagulation biomarkers. Objectives to investigate echocardiographic abnormalities in pediatric patients with COVID-19 admitted to tertiary hospital. Methods this was a retrospective longitudinal study, based on the review of medical records and echocardiograms of patients (0-19 years) admitted to a tertiary hospital between March 30 and June 30, 2020. For statistical analysis, the significance level was set at 5% (p < 0.05). Results Forty-eight patients were enrolled, 73% with preexisting diseases, 20 (41.7%) with MIS-c. Median age was 7.5 (0-18.6) years; 27 (56.2%) were male. Median duration of hospitalization was 15.4 (2-92) days and seven (14.6%) patients died. A total of 70 echocardiograms were performed; 66.7% patients were scanned only once and 33.3% multiple times. Twenty-three (48%) patients showed echocardiographic abnormalities: eight (16.6%) left ventricle (LV) systolic dysfunction, six (12.5%) right ventricle (RV) systolic dysfunction and 12 (25%) coronary dilatation (Z-score>+2.5). Echocardiographic abnormalities were significantly associated with MIS-c, admission to the pediatric intensive care unit, multiple organ dysfunction, ventilatory/vasoactive support, and death (p<0.05). Significantly higher d-dimer (ng/mL) levels were detected in patients with LV dysfunction [16733(4157-115668) vs. 2406.5(190-95040)], RV dysfunction [25769(3422-115668) vs. 2803.5(190-95040)] and coronary artery dilation [9652.5(921-115668) vs. 2724(190- 95040)] (p<0.05). Conclusion Echocardiographic abnormalities in COVID-19 pediatric patients were frequent and associated with worse clinical outcomes. Exacerbation of the inflammation and coagulation pathways may play an important role in cardiovascular injury in those patients.

Abstract This article aims to discuss the main concepts related to notional defined contribution (NDC) schemes and to analyze the experiences of Sweden, Italy, Latvia, Poland and Norway. The methodology is based on a literature review. The main result was that the extent of NDC as a pension system alternative depends on the degree of closeness to the generic scheme. It is recommended to analyze NDC as an alternative for pension system reforms considering its capacity to control structural deficits. As a limitation, it was not analyzed some possible social impacts of NDC introduction. This article is original because encompasses theoretical and practical aspects of NDC schemes. It is expected that this research can contribute to assist public officials in decision-making about reforms in pension systems.

Resumen Este artículo tiene como objetivo discutir los principales conceptos relacionados con los modelos de contribución definida nocional (CDN) y analizar las experiencias de Suecia, Italia, Letonia, Polonia y Noruega. La metodología se basa en una revisión de la literatura. El principal resultado encontrado fue que la extensión de los modelos CDN como alternativa a los sistemas de pensiones depende del grado de proximidad al modelo genérico. Se recomienda analizar el modelo CDN como una alternativa para las reformas de los sistemas de pensiones considerando su capacidad para controlar los déficits estructurales. Como limitación, no se analizaron los posibles impactos sociales de la introducción de estos modelos. Este artículo es original porque cubre aspectos teóricos y prácticos de los modelos CDN. Se espera que este trabajo pueda contribuir a ayudar a los administradores públicos a tomar decisiones sobre reformas en los sistemas de pensiones.

Abstract Crustacean decapod larvae have developed several adaptations to maximize their survival, including swimming behavior. Swimming improves larvae dispersal and contributes to their response to environmental stresses, including variations in abiotic factors, presence of predators, and search for food. Data on larval behavior can also assist in studies on conservation and in species management in aquaculture. Unfortunately, swimming behavior remains unstudied in many species. The present work aims to analyze the swimming behavior in newly hatched larvae of six common decapod crustaceans in coastal Southeast Brazil (Macrobrachium acanthurus, Macrobrachium olfersii, Emerita brasiliensis, Ucides cordatus, Minuca rapax, and Callinectes danae). The analysis included tests with larval responses to four isolated stimuli: gravity (geotaxis), vertical salinity gradients, low-pressure zones, and presence of the planktivorous fish, Atherinella brasiliensis (only for C. danae and M. rapax). The first two and the last two stimuli were used as indicators of dispersal and defensive behaviors, respectively. All larvae preferred water depth with higher salinity levels. Additionally, negative geotaxis was observed in M. olfersii, M. acanthurus, U. cordatus, and C. danae, being stronger in the last. Both Macrobrachium larvae responded to low-pressure zones, promptly moving away. Callinectes danae and M. rapax larvae avoided contact with the predatory fish by creating avoidance zones around it, even in the absence of light. This is an active defensive behavior that has never been reported for the newly hatched larvae of these two species.

In the present study, we investigated the genetic diversity of Plasmodium vivax metacaspase 1 (PvMCA1) catalytic domain in two municipalities of the main malaria hotspot in Brazil, i.e., the Juruá Valley, and observed complete sequence identity among all P. vivax field isolates and the Sal-1 reference strain. Analysis of PvMCA1 catalytic domain in different P. vivax genomic sequences publicly available also revealed a high degree of conservation worldwide, with very few amino acid substitutions that were not related to putative histidine and cysteine catalytic residues, whose involvement with the active site of protease was herein predicted by molecular modeling. The genetic conservation presented by PvMCA1 may contribute to its eligibility as a druggable target candidate in vivax malaria.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to analyze the construct and content validity of the Iconographical Falls Efficacy Scale (Icon-FES) in order to measure the fear of falling in community-dwelling older adults. METHODS: The Icon-FES was applied to 333 older adults. An exploratory factor analysis was performed to assess internal consistency. Item response theory (IRT) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used to evaluate the consistency of the questionnaire and whether it corresponded satisfactorily to the construct “concern about falling.” Concurrent validity with the Falls Efficacy Scale-International (FES-I) and convergent validity with the Senior Fitness Test (SFT) were also assessed. Receiving operator characteristic (ROC) curves were used to determine the sensitivity and specificity. RESULTS: The structural model of the 30-item and 10-item Icon-FES showed some theoretical fragility. The final model of the new short version of the Icon-FES consisted of 13 items, yielding a theoretically satisfactory structural model. Validity analyses indicated that the 13-item Icon-FES had a moderate relationship with the SFT, a strong relationship with the FES-I, and good sensitivity and specificity for a history of falls. CONCLUSION: The 13-item Icon-FES has excellent psychometric properties for measuring fear of falling in community-dwelling older adults. It can be recommended as a screening tool for fear of falling for both research and clinical purposes.

RESUMO Objetivo Sumarizar fatores de risco e indicadores de mortalidade em pacientes com doença falciforme. Método Revisão integrativa em periódicos indexados nas bases de dados CINAHL, PubMed/MEDLINE, Science Direct/SCOPUS, SciELO e Web of Science. A questão norteadora foi elaborada por meio da estratégia Population, variable, outcome (PVO). A busca ocorreu no portal de periódicos da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior entre outubro e novembro de 2018. Resultados Dos 19 artigos, 18 eram coorte e um ensaio clínico randomizado. A amostra foi constituída, em sua maioria, pelo sexo feminino e genótipo HbSS. Se repetiram mais a taxa de mortalidade cumulativa e a curva de mortalidade global. Sete estudos identificaram fatores de risco com associação estatisticamente significativa para morte. Os mais frequentes foram o baixo nível de hemoglobina, variáveis hepáticas (enzimas fosfatase alcalina e transaminase glutâmico oxalacética) e cardiovasculares (velocidade de regurgitação da válvula tricúspide ≥ 2,5m/s). Conclusão e implicações para a prática Indicadores de mortalidade constituem ferramentas de manejo de pacientes com doença falciforme e prevenção de riscos e complicações. Há necessidade de estudos sobre os fatores relacionados à mortalidade desses pacientes. A prevenção do óbito, certamente, promoverá uma melhoria na qualidade de vida e na sobrevida dessa população.

ABSTRACT Objective To summarize the risk factors and mortality indicators in sickle cell disease patients. Method Integrative review searched publications in journals in CINAHL, PubMed/MEDLINE, Science Direct/SCOPUS, SciELO, and Web of Science databases. The guiding question was elaborated through the Population, Variable, Outcome (PVO) strategy and the search was from October-to-November 2018, at the Coordination of Higher Level Personnel Improvement Periodicals’ Gate. The keywords anemia, sickle cell “and” mortality “and” survival and their synonyms were used. Results From 18/19 articles were cohort and one randomized controlled trial. The sample consisted mostly of females and HbSS genotype. The cumulative mortality rate and the overall mortality curve were the most repeated. Seven studies identified risk factors with a statistically significant association with death. The most frequent were low hemoglobin level, liver variables (alkaline phosphatase and oxalacetic glutamic transaminase enzymes) and cardiovascular variables (tricuspid valve regurgitation speed ≥ 2.5m/s). Conclusion and implications for practice Mortality indicators are tools for better management of sickle cell disease’s patient, prevention of risks and complications. There is a need for further studies on the factors related to mortality of these patients. Preventing the causes that lead to death will certainly improve the quality of life and survival of this population.

La tasa de mortalidad acumulada y la curva de mortalidad general fueron más repetidas. Siete estudios identificaron factores de riesgo con asociación estadísticamente significativa con la muerte. Los más frecuentes fueron el bajo nivel de hemoglobina, variables hepáticas (fosfatasa alcalina y enzimas glutámicas transaminasas oxalacéticas) y variables cardiovasculares (velocidad de regurgitación de la válvula tricúspide ≥ 2.5m/s). Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica Los indicadores de mortalidad son herramientas de manejo de los pacientes con esta enfermedad, la prevención de factores de riesgo y complicaciones. Hace necesidad de estudios sobre los factores relacionados con la mortalidad. La prevención de las muertes mejorará la calidad de vida y la supervivencia.

Abstract Introduction The bone-anchored hearing aid (BAHA) is a bone conduction system that transmits the sound directly to the inner ear by surpassing the skin impedance and the subcutaneous tissue. It is indicated for patients with mixed, conductive and unilateral sensorineural hearing loss who did not benefit from conventional hearing aids (HAs). Although the benefits from BAHA are well demonstrated internationally, this field still lacks studies in Brazil. Objective To assess the auditory rehabilitation process in BAHA users through audiological, speech perception and tinnitus aspects. Methods Individuals with hearing loss were assessed before and after the implantation. The participants were subjected to pure tone audiometry in free field, functional gain audiometry, speech perception tests, tinnitus handicap inventory (THI) in open format, and to the visual analog scale (VAS). Results It was found that the participants benefited from the use of BAHA. The difference in the performance of the participants before and after the BAHA surgery was significant in terms of hearing acuity. There was no statistically significant difference in the speech perception tests. The tinnitus assessment showed that 80% of the participants scored slight tinnitus severity in THI after using a BAHA. Eighty percent of the participants classified their tinnitus as absent tomild in the VAS after the surgery. Conclusion Based on the results of the current study, we can conclude that the participants improved both the auditory perception and the tinnitus handicap.

Resumo: Este estudo teve como objetivo apresentar uma lista de peixes marinhos de ambientes costeiros da Ilha de Santa Catarina, incluindo comentários sobre as afinidades zoogeográficas, estado de conservação de cada espécie e grupos funcionais. Um total de 169 espécies de peixes, pertencentes a 30 ordens e 58 famílias, foram registradas. As famílias mais especiosas foram Sciaenidae, Carangidae e Engraulidae, representando 26,62% das espécies registradas. Anchoa foi o gênero mais rico, seguido por Sphoeroides e Cynoscion. A maioria das espécies tem sua distribuição limitada ao Atlântico ocidental, e dois grupos de peixes foram distinguidos de acordo com as distribuições de espécies: 1) espécies ocorrentes no Caribe e na Província Brasileira; e 2) espécies Transatlânticas. Treze espécies estão criticamente ameaçadas, 10 são superexploradas na costa brasileira e 2 estão ameaçadas de extinção. A maioria das espécies é composta por visitantes marinhos ou migrantes marinhos, sendo a maioria deles zoobentívoros, piscívoros ou ambos.

Abstract: This study aimed to present a checklist of marine fishes from coastal environments of the Island of Santa Catarina, including comments on the zoogeographic affinities, conservation status of each species, and functional groups. A total of 169 fish species belonging to 30 orders and 58 families were recorded. The most speciose families were Sciaenidae, Carangidae and, Engraulidae, representing 26,62% of the recorded species. Anchoa was the richest genus, followed by Sphoeroides and Cynoscion. Most of the species have their distribution limited to the western Atlantic, and two groups of fish were distinguished according to the species distributions: 1) species occurring in the Caribbean and in the Brazilian Province; and 2) Transatlantic species. Thirteen species are critically threatened, 10 are overexploited on the Brazilian coast, and 2 are threatened by extinction. Most of the species are either marine stragglers or marine migrants, and most of them are zoobenthivores, piscivores, or both.
