Em ensaio de rotação de culturas, conduzido em Pindorama, SP, num solo podzólico vermelho amarelo, fase arenosa, durante os anos agrícolas de 1991/92, 1992/93 e 1993/94, avaliou-se o efeito da rotação entre milho, soja e arroz, com e sem crotalária júncea de inverno, na produção das culturas, no final do terceiro ano da experimentação. Não houve diferença entre tratamentos na produção da soja. A rotação aumentou a produção de arroz e milho, comparativamente ao monocultivo dessas culturas. A boa produtividade alcançada das culturas no terceiro ano pode ser atribuída, além da rotação, à ocorrência regular de chuvas e ao uso de cultivares tolerantes à acidez

The effect of crop rotation among corn, soybean and rice as summer crops, and of crotalaria as a winter crop, was evaluated by the crop yield at the end of the third year.The experiment was established at Pindorama, SP, Brazil, on an acid soil(Red -Yellow Podzolic, sandy phase). After three years , there was no yield difference among treatments for soybeam production. Crop rotation was beneficial for rice and corn prodution when compared to monocultures. The good productivity in the third year could also be atributed to regular rainfall and acidity tolerant cultivars.

Um ensaio foi conduzido para se determinar o efeito da omissão de macronutrientes e de boro e zinco em solução nutritiva, na avaliação do crescimento e sintomatologia de carência destes elementos. As plântulas foram cultivadas até a obtenção dos sintomas. As plantas foram coletadas e divididas em folhas novas, folhas velhas, colmos, pendões, palhas e espigas. O material foi seco e analisado quimicamente. Os autores observaram uma redução na produção de matéria seca das diversas partes em função da omissão dos nutrientes do meio nutritivo. A redução obedeceu a seguinte ordem decrescente: -N, -P, -K e em menor escala -Ca, -Mg, -Zn, -B, e -S. Os níveis analíticos encontrados nas folhas novas em plantas bem nutridas e desnutridas foram: N% 1,29-0,72: P% 0,17-0,03; K% 1,33-0,15; Ca% 0,90-0,74; Mg% 0,36-0,03; S% 0,20-0,08; B ppm 39-21; Zn ppm 3-4. Os níveis analíticos encontrados nas folhas velhas em plantas bem nutridas e desnutridas foram: N% 0,54-0,48; P% 0,05-0,02; K% 1,12-0,08; Ca% 1,05-0,70; Mg% 0,54-0,03; S% 0,13-0,10; B ppm 58-25; Zn ppm 2-10. Foram descritos os sintomas de carência de todos os elementos pesquisados.

Young sweet corn plants (Zea mays var. sachirata L.) cv. Contibrasil were transplanted to pots containing 7kg of S and size pure quartz. During the first 5 days the plants received only water. Treatments were started 18 days after germination and consisted of: complete solution (all nutrients): -N, -P, -K, -Ca, -Mg, -S, -B, -Zn. Solutions were supplied to the plants through percolation. Plants were collected as soon as the symptoms appeared and divided into: new leaves, old leaves, stem, tassel, straw, and cob. All the material was dried at 80°C for several days and analysed for nutrient content by laboratory conventional methods. The authors concluded that: a) omission of any of the elements reduce plant growth; b) clear cut symptoms were obtained for all nutrients; c) levels in the new leaves both healthy and diseased were: N% 1.29-0.72; P% 0.17-0.03; K% 1.33-0.15; Ca% 0.90-0.74; Mg% 0.36-0.03; S% 0.20-0.08; B ppm 39-21; Zn ppm 3-4; and d) levels in the old leaves, both healthy and diseased, were: N% 0.54-0.48; P% 0.05-0.02; K% 1.12-0.08; Ca% 1.05-0.70; Mg% 0.54-0.03; S% 0.13-0.10; B ppm 58-25; Zn ppm 2-10.

Vasos contendo amostras de 17 solos do Estado de São Paulo receberam superfosfato triplo como tratamento comparativo e apatita de araxá, nas doses correspondentes a 0 e 400 kg de P2O2 total/ha. Um mês apôs, semeou-se arroz nos mesmos, sendo a parte aérea das plantas colhidas no início da formação da panícula. A produção de matéria seca, usa da como índice biológico, mostrou que os teores de P disponível dos solos, determinados pelos métodos do H2SO4 e da resina de troca iônica evidencia bem a capacidade de suprimento do elemento nas amostras estudadas. Por outro lado, não foi possível identificar as características dos solos que são responsáveis pela solubilização da apatita de araxá, porém o pH e o teor de de P nativo do solo parecem esclarecer alguns aspectos do processo.

In a pot experiment, samples of 17 São Paulo State soils, were fertilized with 0 and 400 kg of total P(2)0(5) /ha by the addition of Araxa apatite and triple superphosphate. Rice was grown and the aerial part was cut after 40 days and used as a biological index. The dry matter weight was correlated to soil available P, determined by H2SO4 and by ionic exchange resins. It was not possible to determine which soils properties influenced the apatite solubilization, but seems that pH and native soil P, can indicate some aspects of the process.

Plantas de milheto forrageiro, em condições controladas, foram submetidas a tratamentos em soluções nutritivas completa e com emissão de N, P, K, Ca, Mg e S, tendo como objetivos avaliar a produção de matéria, a concentração dos nutrientes na planta, bem como estabelecer o quadro sintomatológico das carências nutricionais. As produções de matéria seca alcançaram os seguintes valores (g): completo = 55,8; -N = 2,1; -P = 2,8; -K = 9,5; -Ca = 41,9; -Mg = 35,7 e -S 53,4. Os valores analíticos encontrados nas folhas de plantas sadias e deficientes foram: N% - 3,21-2,07; P% - 0,38 - 0,09; K% - 2, 19-0,54; Ca% - 0,52-0,16; Mg% -0,48-0,04; S% - 0,24-0,12. Plantas deficientes em nitrogênio, fósforo, potássio e magnésio não produziram espigas. Foi obtido o quadro sintomatológico completo, das carências dos macronutrientes.

Seeds of Pennisetum americanum cv. Bulk 1 were sowed in pots containing fine quartz as substract and moist with water several times a lay. Two days after germination the young plants were irrigated twice a day with complete nutrient solution diluted (1:5) during 22 days. After these period the pots containing each 3 plants were percolated with distill water several times. After these period the treatments began and consisted of: complete solution, -N, -P, -K, -Ca, -Mg, -S. The nutrient solutions were changed every 10 days. With the appearence of the bad nutrition symptoms the plants were harvested with 52 days old, died, weighed and analyzed for the elements by the conventional methods. The authors concluded: The omission of N, P and K from the nutrient solutions reduce the dry weight of the plants. The omission of N, P, K and Mg from the nutrient solutions prevent the formation of ears by the plants. The range in dry matter from normal and leaves showing deficiency symptoms are: N% - 3.21-2.07; P% - 0.38-0.09; K% - 2.19-0.54; Ca% - 0.52-0.16; Mg% - 0.48- 0.04; S% - 0.24-0.12. A clear picture of the visual symptoms of the deficiencies was obtained.

Com o objetivo de determinar: - a curva de crescimento do melão (Cucumis melo L.), através da acumulação de matéria seca; - os teores e consequentes acúmulos de nutrientes nos órgãos aéreos da planta, em diferentes estádios de crescimento; - a exportação de nutrientes na colheita de frutos, no ponto de consumo. Foi conduzido um ensaio em condições de campo o qual consistiu da amostragem em cinco estádios de crescimento - 15, 30, 45, 60 e 75 dias após a emergência - de plantas competitivas, as quais eram cortadas rente ao solo, divididas em caule e ramos, folhas, flores e frutos, para determinação de quantidade de matéria seca e análise química para macronutrientes minerais. Os tratamentos, então representados por épocas de amostragem, constaram de um delineamento em blocos casualizados com quatro repetições. Concluiu-se que: - o crescimento das plantas é inicialmente lento, intensificando-se posteriormente, com maiores incrementos entre 30 e 45 dias; - no final do ciclo, a planta acumulou 905,88 g de matéria seca, assim distribuída; caule e ramos 19,38%, folhas 30,32% e flores e frutos 50,30%; - a concentração dos nutrientes na parte aérea variou com a idade e o órgão considerado; - verifica-se nos frutos uma tendência de redução nos teores dos macronutrientes (com exceção do enxofre); - a parte aérea acumulou, aos 75 dias, em miligramas por planta: 23,08 de N; 3,46 de P; 28,90 de K; 12,74 de Ca; 5,55 de Mg; 1,59 de S. - são exportados numa colheita de uma tonelada de frutos, cerca de 1,78 kg de N; 0,33 kg de P; 2,65 kg de K; 0,14 kg de Ca; 0,21 kg de Mg; 0,09 kg de S.

An experiment was carried out under field conditions to determine: - the growth of muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.) throght accumulation of dry matter; - concentration and consequent accumulation of nutrients in the aereal parts of the plant at different growth stages; - exportation of nutrients at fruit harvesting, at the time of consumption. The experiment consisted of sampling at five growth stages - 15, 30, 45, 60 and 70 days after emergence - of competitive plants, which were cut at ground level, divided into stem and branches, leaves, flowers and fruits, to determine the quantity of dry matter and for chemical analysis of mineral macronutrients. The treatments, represented by sampling time, consisted of randomized block design with four replications. It was concluded that: - the growth was slow at the deginning, increasing later, especially between 30 and 45 days; - at the end of the cycle, the plant accumulated 905,88 g dry matter as follow: stem and branches - 18,38%, leaves - 30.32%, and flowers and fruits - 50.30%; - the concentration of nutrients in the aereal parts varied according to the age and part considered; - there was a tendency for reduction in the concentration of macronutrients, except for sulphur; - at 75 days, the aereal part accumulated, in milligrams per plant: 23.08 N, 3.46 P, 28.90 K, 12.74 Ca, 5.55 Mg, 1.595 S; - in a one-ton harvest the fruits exported about 1.78 kg N, 0.33 kg P, 2.64 kg K, 0.14 kg Ca, 0.21 kg Mg, 0.09 kg S.
