Abstract High strength concretes (HSC) correspond to a characteristic compression strength between 55 e 90 MPa. With the growing use of HSC, studies about the regular design standards of elements made of it, specifically standards about design on shear, become necessary. Hence, the main aspects of the NBR, Model Code 1990 e 2010, Portuguese Standard and German Standard related to the design on shear are presented. From the numerical simulations, with the addition of Cladera and Marí’s experimental contributions, it is confirmed that the Brazilian design standard procedure produces lower transverse reinforcement areas in comparison to the ones predicted by the international codes; these, excepted by LoA III, do not consider the concrete contribution, in spite of being experimentally verified, leading to very conservative results.

A adubação azotada influenciou positivamente a PMST, PMSF e PMSC, no entanto, diminuiu a EUN.
The effects of different irrigation levels and doses of nitrogen (N) on yield, nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) and chemical composition of Mombasa grass (Panicum maximum) were evaluated. The experimental design was randomized blocks in a 2x4 factorial, with three replicates, two water levels (50% and 80% of Class A pan evaporation, ECA) and four levels of N (200, 400, 600 and 800 kg / ha / year). The water depth applied showed similar behaviors regarding NUE, total dry matter yield (TDMY), leaves (DMYL) and stems (DMYS), and levels of neutral detergent fiber (NDF). The nitrogen fertilization influenced positively TDMY, DMYL and DMYS, however, decreased NUE. Crude protein (CP) of the leaves and stems were influenced by the interaction of blades irrigation x nitrogen fertilization. There was a linear effect of N on the PB. The levels of acid detergent fiber (ADF) had negative influence of greater water depth. Concentrations of ADF were reduced by nitrogen fertilization. Irrigation of 50% of ECA, associated with application of 800 kg N / ha / year, showed the best results, considering productivity, chemical composition and water savings.

ABSTRACT The aim of this work was to evaluate the selectivity of fomesafen alone or in a tank mixture with other preemergent herbicides, with or without S-metolachlor application in early postemergence in cotton plant, cultivar DP 555 BG RR(r). The design utilized was a randomized complete block, organized in a split-plot arrangement, with four replications. For that, 24 herbicides were evaluated with fomesafen (0.45 and 0.625 kg ha-1), prometryn (1.25 kg ha-1), diuron (1.25 kg ha-1), trifluralin (1.8 kg ha-1), and S-metolachlor (0.77 kg ha-1), applied as preemergent, with or without S-metolachlor (0.77 kg ha-1) applied in early postemergence. The variables evaluated were: phytotoxicity, insertion height of the first reproductive branch, plant height, stand, number of reproductive branches per plant, number of bolls per plant, bolls weight, and productivity of cotton seed. Fomesafen alone or in a tank mixture with preemergent prometryn, diuron, trifluralin and S-metolachlor was selective to cotton plant. Preemergent fomesafen isolated application followed by the application of S-metolachlor in early postemergence was also selective. However, on average, preemergent tank mixtures applied in association with preemergent S-metolachlor early application was not selective to cotton crop.

Abstract An updated inventory of Brazilian seed plants is presented and offers important insights into the country's biodiversity. This work started in 2010, with the publication of the Plants and Fungi Catalogue, and has been updated since by more than 430 specialists working online. Brazil is home to 32,086 native Angiosperms and 23 native Gymnosperms, showing an increase of 3% in its species richness in relation to 2010. The Amazon Rainforest is the richest Brazilian biome for Gymnosperms, while the Atlantic Rainforest is the richest one for Angiosperms. There was a considerable increment in the number of species and endemism rates for biomes, except for the Amazon that showed a decrease of 2.5% of recorded endemics. However, well over half of Brazillian seed plant species (57.4%) is endemic to this territory. The proportion of life-forms varies among different biomes: trees are more expressive in the Amazon and Atlantic Rainforest biomes while herbs predominate in the Pampa, and lianas are more expressive in the Amazon, Atlantic Rainforest, and Pantanal. This compilation serves not only to quantify Brazilian biodiversity, but also to highlight areas where there information is lacking and to provide a framework for the challenge faced in conserving Brazil's unique and diverse flora.

Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and selectivity of herbicides of the imidazolinone group applied in post-emergence on monocotyledon weeds in Clearfield sunflower cultivation. Thus, two experiments were installed in the field. The treatments and their doses in gha-1 were: trifluralin (1800) applied at pre-emergence, fluazifop-p-butyl (187) and imazapic+imazapyr doses [36.75+12.25], [52.5+17.5], [12.25+36.75] and [17.5+52.5] applied at post-emergence, plus two controls without herbicide, one without weeding and the other with weeds. Control was evaluated for Eleusine indica, Brachiaria plantaginea, Lolium multiflorum, Digitaria insularis, Digitaria horizontalis and Cenchrus echinatus, Clearfield Sunflower phytotoxicity, stand and yield in kgha-1. The results obtained showed that the use of the Clearfield system proved to be a great option for areas with monocotyledon weed infestation, since it allows the application of acetolactate synthase (ALS) - inhibiting herbicides achieving excellent weed control, without causing visual injury, and maintaining the original stand, without affecting crop yield.

This work was carried out to evaluate the effect of irrigation depth on yield and production components of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) under soil and climatic conditions of the Coastal Tablelands in the State of Piauí - Brazil. The trial was conducted at the Embrapa Meio-Norte Experimental Area, in Parnaíba, in a sandy soil, during the period from August to October, 1998. Irrigation depths were applied through a sprinkler line source system. The treatments were constituted by combination of four depths of irrigation (449.1; 428.6; 317.1 and 194.4 mm) and two cowpea cultivars (BR 17 Gurguéia and BR 14 Mulato) arranged in a completely randomized block design in split-plot and five replications. Significant effects (p<0.05) of depth of irrigation and cultivar interaction with respect to number of pods per plant (NPP) and grain yield (GY) were observed. The highest NPP (25.6) and maximum GY (2,809 kg ha-1) for the BR 17 Gurguéia cultivar was obtained with the irrigation depth of 449.1 mm. The maximum NPP (15.0) and GY (2,103.4 kg ha-1) for the BR 14 Mulato cultivar were obtained with the irrigation depth of 363.5 and 389.9 mm, respectively.
