O aumento do conteúdo de fibras colágenas no coração de diabéticos é um fato bastante conhecido, suas conseqüências ainda são objeto de estudo e causam certa controvérsia, portanto este trabalho objetivou estudar a variação na quantidade das fibras de colágeno cardíacas em animais normais e diabéticos tratados pela vitamina C. Para isso foram selecionados 32 ratos Wistar, 16 diabéticos induzidos pela injeção endovenosa de estreptozootocina e 16 normais, sendo metade deles tratados com Vitamina C (diabéticos e normais) por um período de 90 dias. Após período experimental, os corações foram retirados e processados segundo protocolo convencional para microscopia óptica e coloração específica para colágeno. Os resultados mostram que animais diabéticos apresentam maior quantidade de fibras de colágeno cardíacas e que o tratamento com a vitamina C determinou um menor acúmulo na quantidade dessas fibras.

The increase of heart collagen fibers in diabetics is a well known fact, but the consequences are not defined. The aim was to quantify the cardiac collagen fibers in normal and diabetic rats treated with vitamin C. We selected 32 Wistar rats, 16 diabetic animals induced endovenously with streptozootocin, and 16 healthy animals, half of them, diabetics and normals, were treated with vitamin C for 90 days. After the experimental proceeding, the hearts were removed and processed accordingly to conventional protocol for optical microscopy and specific staining for collagen. The results showed that the diabetic rats presented increase in the number of cardiac collagen fibers, but the ones treated with vitamin C showed little accumulation of fibers. It could be concluded that treatment with vitamin C is important for the prevention of heart failure in diabetic animals.

Os cardiomiócitos são sustentados e inseridos em um esqueleto de tecido conjuntivo, este possui distribuição desigual de acordo com as propriedades das distintas regiões em que se encontra. O propósito deste estudo foi quantificar a proporção de tecido conjuntivo em relação à disposição de cardiomiócitos dos ventrículos direito e esquerdo e no septo interventricular do miocárdio de seis equinos subnutridos, adultos, sendo quatro machos e duas fêmeas, sem raça definida e utilizados para tração. Com auxílio de paquímetro eletrônico digital, avaliou-se a altura do ventrículo esquerdo, a largura do coração, assim como sua circunferência, as espessuras das paredes livres dos ventrículos e do septo interventricular. Os fragmentos relativos ao terço médio do septo interventricular e das paredes livres dos ventrículos foram submetidos à técnica histológica convencional. Os blocos foram cortados com espessura de 5µm e corados com Picrosirius Red, Tricromo de Gomori e Tricromo de Azan para evidenciação do tecido conjuntivo. As lâminas foram analisadas com uso do microscópio óptico digital acoplado ao programa de análise de imagens Image-Pro Plus®. A proporção média de tecido conjuntivo no ventrículo esquerdo foi de 6,1±3,7%, no septo interventricular foi obtida a média de 6,8±3,6% e no ventrículo direito a média foi de 6,1±3,1%. Ao aplicarmos teste H de Kruskal-Wallis, verificamos que ocorreu diferença estatística entre os diferentes corantes utilizados em relação às regiões avaliadas. No teste de correlação de Pearson, não foi encontrado padrão de correlação entre a espessura das regiões analisadas e a proporção de tecido conjuntivo.

Cardiomyocytes are sustained and inserted into a connective tissue skeleton that has different distribution depending up on the properties of the region in which it stands. The purpose of this study was to quantify the proportion of connective tissue in relation to the arrangement of cardiomyocytes of left and right ventricles and interventricular septum in myocardium of six mixed breed, ill trifted adult horses, of both sexes, used for traction. With hearts still fresh and with the aid of a digital caliper, it was estimated the height of left ventricle, the heart's width, the heart's circumference and the thickness of the ventricular free walls and interventricular septum. The fragments on the middle third of the interventricular septum and free walls of the ventricles were subjected to conventional histological technique. The blocks were cut with thickness of 5µm and stained with Picrosirius Red, Gomori Trichrome and Azan Trichrome to show the connective tissue. The slides were analyzed using optical microscope coupled to a digital analysis program Image-Pro Plus®. The average proportion of connective tissue in the left ventricle was 6.1+3.7%, in the interventricular septum and it was observed a mean of 6.8+3.6%. In the right ventricle the average was 6.0+3.0%. Applying the H test of Kruskal-Wallis, it was found that there was statistical difference between the different dyes used for each region. In the Pearson correlation test it was not found pattern correlation between the thickness of the regions analyzed and the proportion of connective tissue

A estimulação catecolaminérgica precoce e excessiva do coração, que ocorre na insuficiência cardíaca congestiva, acentua a sobrecarga de pressão e o volume nos ventrículos, agravando, conseqüentemente, a isquemia miocárdica, causando morte de miócitos com deposição de tecido conjuntivo e progressiva redução do débito cardíaco. O carvedilol, um b e alfa1-bloqueador não cardio-seletivo, vem sendo associado a melhorias na função miocárdica e à regressão da hipertrofia ventricular esquerda. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar a ação do carvedilol em ratos submetidos a um modelo experimental de hipertrofia miocárdica por sobrecarga de pressão, por meio da coartação da aorta subdiafragmática. Ratos Wistar (65 animais) foram divididos em quatro grupos: não coartados/tratados com placebo, coartados/tratados com placebo, coartados/tratados com 0,1mg kg-1 de carvedilol e coartados/tratados com 1mg kg-1 de carvedilol. Após o procedimento cirúrgico e 20 dias de tratamento, os animais foram submetidos à eutanásia e coletados fragmentos que, depois de fixados em formol a 10% e processados pela técnica histológica convencional utilizando coloração picrossirius, permitiram contagem de tecido conjuntivo nos ventrículos esquerdo e direito. Resultados: nos animais coartados/tratados com placebo, houve aumento na porcentagem de tecido conjuntivo nos ventrículos esquerdo e direito; nos coartados/tratados com 0,1mg kg-1 de carvedilol, houve uma redução parcial da quantidade de tecido colágeno do ventrículo esquerdo e direito, e, nos coartados/tratados com 1mg kg-1 de carvedilol, houve uma redução significativa na quantidade de tecido colágeno do ventrículo esquerdo.

Early and excessive catecholamine stimulation of the heart increases the overcharge blood pressure and volume on ventricles. Thus worsening myocardial ischemia by causing the death of myocytes. With connective tissue deposition and progressive reduction of heart output. Carvedilol, a b and alpha1-blocker non heart-selective, has been associated to improvement on myocardial function on left ventricle hypertrophy regression. The aim of this study was to evaluate the action of carvedilol in rats undergone to an experimental model of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy by pressure overcharge, through subdiaphragmatic aortic coarctation. Wistar rats (65 animals) divided into four groups: non- coarcted/ treated with placebo, coarcted / treated with placebo, coarcted / treated with 0.1mg kg-1 of carvedilol and coarcted / treated with 1mg/kg of carvedilol. After surgery and 20 days of treatment, the animals were euthanized and samples were collected, fixed in formol 10% and processed using picrossirius staining to quantify connective tissue on left and right ventricles. On those coarcted animals / treated with placebo, there was a rise on the percentage of connective tissue on left and right ventricles; on coarcted animals / treated with 0.1mg kg-1 of carvedilol there was a partial reduction on the amount of collagen tissue of left and right ventricles; and on those coarcted animals / treated with 1mg kg-1 of carvedilol there was a significant reduction on the amount of collagen tissue of left ventricle.

Com o objetivo de contribuir com o conhecimento referente aos arranjos vasculares viscerais, que freqüentemente mostram suficientes variações para diferenciação entre famílias e ordens, utilizamos 34 galinhas da linhagem NPK, com idade aproximada de 10 semanas, eutanasiadas com dose de gás anestésico, tendo marcado seus contingentes arteriais com solução aquosa de Neoprene Látex ¨450¨ a 50 %, corada com corante específico e fixadas em solução aquosa de formol a 10 %, para estudar a vascularização das glândulas adrenais. Assim, os resultados indicam que as glândulas adrenais são órgãos pares, dispostos um em cada antímero, lateralmente à aorta descendente, caudalmente aos pulmões e médio-cranialmente aos rins. Nos dois antímeros, as glândulas adrenais receberam vasos oriundos das artérias adrenais homólogas provenientes da artéria renal cranial e da aorta descendente (ramos diretos). Independentemente da origem, o número de ramos destinados às glândulas adrenais variou de acordo com o antímero, sendo de 1 a 4 para o antímero esquerdo, e de 1 e 3 para o direito. Quanto maior o número de artérias totais e ramos emitidos pelas artérias adrenais contralaterais destinados a um antímero, maior será o número de ramos destinados pelas mesmas ao antímero oposto.

Aiming at knowing the visceral vascular arrangements which frequently show huge variation to be differentiated in families and orders, we used 34 NPK chickens, aged at approximately 10 weeks, euthanized with a dose of anaesthetic gas, with arterial contingents marked with an aqueous 50 % Neoprene Latex ¨450¨ solution, colored with a specific coloring agent and fixed in an aqueous 10% formaldehyde solution, to study adrenal gland vascularization. The results indicated that the adrenal glands are paired organs, positioned in each antimer, laterally to the descending aorta, caudally to the lungs and medio-cranially to the kidneys. In the two antimers, the adrenal glands receive vessels originating from the homologous adrenal arteries that come from the cranial renal artery and from the descending aorta (right branches). Regardless of their origin, the number of branches destined to the adrenal glands varied according to the antimer, totaling 1 to 4 for the left antimer, and 1 to 3 for the right one. The higher the number of total arteries and branches emitted by the contralateral adrenal arteries destined to an antimer, the higher the number of branches they destine to the opposite antimer.

Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, estudar a proporção de tecido conjuntivo existente na fração ventricular direita e esquerda do músculo cardíaco de eqüinos da raça puro sangue inglês, buscando, através da morfometria, dados referentes à inter-relação entre o tecido conjuntivo e o tecido muscular cardíaco. Utilizaram-se corações eqüinos, machos, com idade entre 20 e 120 meses, sem alterações cardíacas. Preparou-se o material oriundo da região média do terço médio dos ventrículos, tanto da face direita quanto da esquerda, segundo as técnicas histológicas convencionais e corados com Picrosirius red, Fucsina-Paraldeido associada ao Tricromo de Gomori e Tricromo de Masson, para evidenciação das fibras conjuntivas. As lâminas foram analisadas com auxílio do Axioscópio Zeiss® acoplado ao programa de análise de imagens KS-400 Zeiss. A quantidade de tecido conjuntivo no Ventrículo Esquerdo variou de 0,008 a 24,695%; no Ventrículo Direito variou de 0,029 a 20,921%; nos corações de eqüinos da raça puro sangue inglês. Os resultados obtidos mostram que há uma complexa rede de fibras conjuntivas envolvendo as fibras do tecido muscular cardíaco e que sua quantidade e disposição é muito variada, dependendo da região estudada, animais mais jovens exibem baixa quantidade de tecido conjuntivo, também dependendo de sua atividade física.

This work aimed to study the proportion of connective tissue in the fraction right and left of the ventricular heart muscle of equine PSI, searching, through of the morphometry, data in the interrelation between the connective tissue and the muscular tissue, for the knowledge of the functional relationships of the heart structure. It was used equine hearts, males, between 20 and 120 old months, without heart alterations. The material originated from of the medial portion of the ventricle from both the right face and the left, according to the conventional techniques and stained with Picrosirius red, Fucsina-Paraldeido associated to Gomori's Tricrome and Masson's Tricrome, to show of the connective fibers. The sheets were analised using Axioscópio Zeiss® coupled to the program of analysis of images KS-400 Zeiss®. The amount of connective tissue in the left ventricle varied from 0,008 to 24,695%; in the right ventricle it varied from 0,029 to 20,921%; in the hearts of equine PSI. The obtained results show that there is a complex net of connective fibers involving the fibers of muscle tissue of the heart and that their amount and disposition is very varied, depending on the studied area, younger animals exhibit low amount of connective tissue, also depending on their physical activity.

Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, estudar a proporção de tecido conjuntivo existente na fração ventricular direita e esquerda do músculo cardíaco de cães, buscando, através da morfometria, dados referentes a inter-relação entre o tecido conjuntivo e o tecido muscular cardíaco, para o conhecimento das relações anátomo-funcionais da estrutura cardíaca, característica de determinados processos ligados a diminuição do trabalho do órgão. Utilizou-se 6 corações de cães SRD, machos e fêmeas, com idade entre 48 e 150 meses, pesando entre 18 e 30 Kg, sem alterações cardíacas, confirmado mediante exames eletrocardiográfico e ecocardiográfico. Preparou-se o material oriundo de três regiões ventriculares em relação a sua base, proximal, média e distal, tanto da face direita quanto da esquerda, segundo as técnicas histológicas convencionais e corados com Picrosirius red, Fucsina-Paraldeido e Tricromo de Gomori, para evidenciação das fibras conjuntivas. As lâminas foram analisadas com auxílio do Axioscópio Zeiss acoplado ao programa de análise de imagens KS-400 Zeiss. A quantidade de tecido conjuntivo no Ventrículo Esquerdo variou de 0,44 a 26,26%; no Ventrículo Direito variou de 0,97 a 21,18%; no ápice variou de 1,32 a 29,24% e no septo interventricular variou de 5,41 a 11,24%. Os resultados obtidos mostram que há uma complexa rede de fibras conjuntivas envolvendo as fibras do tecido muscular cardíaco e que sua quantidade e disposição é muito variada, dependendo da região estudada.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the ratio of connective tissue on the right and left ventricule of the cardiac muscle in the dog. Throughout the morphometric study, we can gather information regarding the relationship between the connective and the muscle tissue, in order to find out the anatomic and functional relationship of the heart, which can provide information as for the diseases of the heart. In this study, we evaluated the heart of 6 dogs, males and females, from 48 to 150 months-old, whose weight ranged from 18 to 30 kilograms, with no heart diseases confirmed by eletrocardographic and echocardiographic examinations. We got sample from 3 different regions of the ventricule, on the proximal, medial and distal faces, both on the right and left parts. We used the Picrosirius red and Gomori's Trichrome to stain the material and bring out the connective fibers. We evaluated the slides by Axioscope Zeissâ with program KS400 analyse of images. The amount of connective tissue on the left ventricule ranged from 0.44 to 26.26%. On the right ventricule, it ranged from 0.97 to 21.18%. On the apex, it ranged from 1.32 to 29.24% and on the septo interventricular, it ranged from 5.41 to 11.24%. The results showed that there is a accureted connective fibers pattern surrounding the cardiac muscle tissue and it has an assorted amount and arrangement of fibers.
